The 2024 Juno Awards, Canada's prestigious music awards ceremony, witnessed a powerful moment of advocacy as Elliot Page, star of the hit series "The Umbrella Academy," used his platform to denounce the alarming rollback of LGBTQ2+ rights across the globe. A Voice for Change: Elliot Page Takes the Stage Presenting the Humanitarian Award to Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara at the ceremony held in his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Page delivered a poignant speech highlighting the current threats faced by the LGBTQ2+ community. "We are at a time in history where the rights of LGBTQ2+ people are being revoked, restricted, and eliminated throughout the world, and the effects are devastating," Page declared. He then commended the work of Tegan and Sara Foundation, emphasizing their dedication to supporting and advocating for social change on behalf of transgender and queer youth. This powerful statement resonated deeply with the audience, particularly in light of recent legislative proposals in Canada aimed at restricting access to healthcare for transgender individuals. Standing Together: Tegan and Sara Quin Echo the Message Following Page's address, Tegan Quin, one-half of the award-winning duo Tegan and Sara, expressed her solidarity with the LGBTQ2+ community. "If the world was not so hostile to LGBTQ2+ people, we would see ourselves purely as musicians," she asserted, addressing the Junos audience. Quin further criticized the province of Alberta's proposed healthcare restrictions for transgender youth, specifically highlighting the proposed ban on hormone therapy for individuals under 15. "Advocating for our community's rights is a great privilege and we are dedicated to confronting any form of discrimination that threatens the well-being of our community," Quin continued, her voice brimming with determination. As she spoke, her sister Tegan and Page stood by her side, a potent symbol of unity and unwavering support. Juno Awards Celebrate Music and Achievement While the Juno Awards evening provided a platform for social commentary, it also served its primary purpose of recognizing and celebrating excellence in Canadian music. Charlotte Cardin emerged as a major winner, taking home the coveted Album of the Year award for her critically acclaimed project "99 Nights." Cardin, a rising star in the Canadian music scene, had previously swept the 2022 Junos, securing four trophies including Best Artist. Other notable winners included Nicholas Durocher, known by his artistic persona "Talk," who received the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award. Music legend Anne Murray, who graced the very first Juno Awards ceremony in 1970, made a special appearance to present the Group of the Year award to The Beaches, a celebrated all-female indie rock band from Toronto. Fan Favorites and Hall of Fame Recognition The Juno Fan Choice Award, voted on by the public, saw Punjabi pop sensation Karan Aujla claim victory. The ceremony also witnessed an emotional highlight as Maestro Fresh-Wes, a pioneering Canadian hip-hop artist with a five-decade career, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Wesley Williams, the man behind the musical persona Maestro Fresh-Wes, has enjoyed a multifaceted career that extends beyond music, encompassing television acting credits in shows like "The Listener," "The Transporter," and "Mr. D." A Night of Triumphs Across Genres The Juno Awards ceremony wasn't just about high-profile wins. Saturday's pre-televised awards show saw Calgary's rising pop star Tate McRae bag two Junos for Best Artist and Best Single of the Year for her hit song "Greedy." Tobi, another prominent voice in Canadian music, secured two awards – Best Rap Single and Best Rap Album. Aysanabee, a gifted songwriter and musical talent, added two trophies to her collection – Best Songwriter and Best Alternative Album. A Night of Advocacy and Artistic Accolades The 2024 Juno Awards were more than just a celebration of music. Elliot Page's powerful message served as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by the LGBTQ2+ community. Tegan and Sara Quin's words echoed Page's sentiments, highlighting the importance of fighting for equality. While the fight for LGBTQ2+ rights continues, the Junos provided a platform for crucial voices to be heard. The night also celebrated exceptional achievements across diverse musical genres, solidifying the Juno Awards' position as a premier event in the Canadian music industry. There you go everyone. Tegan and Sara’s closest friends and collaborators are Zionist apologists. If this doesn’t bother you, then why were you drawn to TnS in the first place? Mean people suck, don’t they, even if they’re your friends..

-PLEASE READ- HEY so if you've known me since I was 14 you know that my favourite band/people in the world are Tegan and Sara. I talk about them a lot, post about them on social media and have annoyed everyone close to me at some point with just HOW MUCH I love these guys. When I was 14 and weird and being bullied they were my shoulder to cry on, when I needed to escape from my brain, their music enveloped me whole into an intricate puzzle of their creativity. When I came to terms with my queerness they were there with open arms and constant support with practical information for me to live my best life. They have always been my beaming light of inspiration in the dark. I understand how cheesy this can sound if you're a person who has always had support and guidance for every part of your life from the people around you, but for me as an at risk teen, I had them. And I still do. Their foundation, the @teganandsarafoundation is putting forward that emotional support I relied on into practical resources. THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THE ECONOMIC JUSTICE, HEALTH AND REPRESENTATION FOR LGBTQ+ WOMEN AND GIRLS. AND I believe that every person who cares about me, should care about this foundation just as much. They changed my life for the better, now help them change lives of LGBTQ+ women around the world ✊🏻 #teganandsara #teganandsarafoundation #thefutureisfluid

So much fun last night! Thank you @teganandsara for an amazing show! So fun seeing @gabrialmcnair in the band now! I laughed so hard at the stories told on stage, and there was so much emotion and beauty put into every single song played. I donated to the @teganandsarafoundation and got a special night with my mom like the old days. I will have a video up on my YouTube soon! Came home and got started on my 92nd makeup look! Pulling an all nighter. AGAIN. Lol. Thank you @lindseybyrnes for the rad photo! Also, here's an old photo of me and T&S from 6 years ago. 🏳️🌈👧🏻👧🏻🏳️🌈 #teganandsara #teganandsarafoundation #thecon #theconx #lgbtqwomen #queerandcaredfor #healthcare #dtla #lgbt #lgbtlosangeles #acehotel

yelyahwilliams: Petals For Armor promo pic in hopes of catchin’ your eye! hey! this is the last day to register to vote in my home-state of Tennessee and many others... @headcountorg has more info including a full list of states’ registry deadlines. your vote does matter! please, do yourself and the rest of us a favor and make damn sure you are ready to vote in the upcoming elections. no one asked for this... but... for those interested in one of the biggest personal motivations behind any vote i cast: i vote for the advocacy of those (including myself) living with varying degrees of mental illness. i want to see a future where ANY HUMAN in this country who is suffering from depression, PTSD, etc... can be treated uniquely, holistically, and with great respect for the lifelong journey toward mental wellness. my heart for social justice and a more progressive healthcare system is beating fast and loud these days. i am grateful to friends i trust for educating me, for loved ones who challenge me to educate myself, and to local community programs/collectives who provide ample opportunity for folks like me to put my beliefs into action! If you want to look even further into some of the issues and hopefulness i’m referring to, check out organizations like @thistlefarms, @drkmttrcollective, @therapyforblackgirls, @teganandsarafoundation, @doctormotley, @trevorproject, @inclusivetherapists... many of which i have connected with personally, who i believe help make a safer, healthier, and more equitable future for people from many different walks of life. we all deserve help and to know we are worthy of getting better. im voting, in part, for the kind of future that treats the human not just the symptoms. thanks for reading. photo by @lindseybyrnes.
