How to Whiten Your Teeth
How would you choose which technique is the best one for you with such a large number of choices available going from over the counter (OTC) teeth whitening in Battersea items to solution grade bleaching gels from your dental specialist
Is It Safe?
Before 2012 teeth whitening was unregulated. You could have the treatment done by untrained beauticians at malls and even certain hair salons offered this service. This was when teeth whitening had an awful image for causing extraordinary affectability and now and again irreversible harm to the tooth structure and gum tissue. From that point, the necessity of the 2012 EU enactment is that a dental specialist should complete an examination to decide a patient's appropriateness, guaranteeing there are no hazard components or disease.
Tooth Recoloring Can be Ordered into Two Distinct Sorts:
1) External Variables (extrinsic)
● Foods
● Beverages
● Smoking
● Poor oral cleanliness
● Mouthwashes containing high groupings of chlorhexidine
2) Internal Elements (intrinsic)
● The maturing procedure
● Fluorosis (overexposure of fluoride in the initial 8 years of life)
● White spots (lacquer hypomineralisation because of untimely or low weight birth, interminable contaminations or a raised temperature)
● Antibiotic medication recoloring (from anti-infection agents)
● Injury (from a break or damage)
● Hereditary components
How are Teeth Brightened?
The teeth whitening in Battersea can be accomplished by a physical expulsion of the extrinsic or a synthetic one of the inborn stains.
The best move to make for the physical evacuation of outward stains is to have it expelled expertly by booking a meeting with your dental hygienist. These days most dental hygienists use air-cleaning systems that delicately and proficiently expel recolors on the teeth using a blend of water, compacted air and a fine powder (more often than not calcium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate) conveyed through a spout. This is an extraordinary treatment alternative for patients that experience the ill effects of sensitivity because of the absence of direct contact with their teeth.
Physical removal with OTC items is powerful on extremely mellow stains utilizing items, for example, whitening toothpaste that contain cleansers, abrasives and compounds. These sorts of items may just contain up to 0.1% of hydrogen peroxide (HP) in the EU which produce unimportant, erratic and tedious outcomes when utilized without anyone else.
If you are looking for that Hollywood smile or have a complex inherent recoloring just book a meeting with your dental specialist or dental hygienist to have your teeth brightened securely and expertly.
There are a wide range of frameworks available however it has been settled that plate based whitening systems are the best contrasted with the ones that using blue light LED lights. The convergence of teeth whitening gels endorsed by your dental specialist must contain, or discharge, up to 6% HP or 16% carbamide peroxide (CP). Since HP is dynamic for 30-an hour and connected during the day it would take more days to accomplish the similar outcome as using CP which is dynamic for roughly 4 hours, in this manner, carbamide peroxide is progressively viable for home whitening.
Since expert teeth whitening frameworks are a lot higher in cost than OTC items, it is critical to go for a framework that will ensure whitening results and low sensitivity with the goal that you can really finish the course of treatment and accomplish the outcomes you look for.
Though OTC items just evacuate outward stains, they are an incredible subordinate to proficient teeth whitening in Battersea systems prescribed by your dental specialist, yet kindly do ensure that you utilize a whitening toothpaste that is delicate and not rough on your teeth. Joining this with customary outings to your dental hygienist to expel harder stains (and obviously microbes!) you will certainly accomplish and keep up that ideal white "instagrammable" smile. It is never again unthinkable to have your teeth whitened and let's face it, a delightful smile will never develop out of design!

6 ways to keep those teeth in tip-top condition over the festive period
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
By HEALTH EDITOR FOR SUSTAINHEALTH
PUBLISHED: 09:12, 25 November 2019 | UPDATED: 09:42, 25 November 2019
With the festive period on the horizon, it's likely that the prosecco, festive chocolates and mulled wine will be in full swing - but this can take its toll on your teeth.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Recent research states that all year round us Brits enjoy a glass of bubbly - In the UK, consumption of all sparkling wine, led by prosecco, will climb from 14.4m nine-litre cases in 2017 to 16.2m by 2022.
A comparison of growth per head over 10 years from 2012 shows consumption growing from 1.8 litres to 2.8 litres by 2022.* However, despite its popularity – the much-loved sparkling wine can come with some unwanted side effects, including a tell-tale condition dentists are referring to as the 'prosecco smile.' Like champagne, prosecco is pretty acidic, with a PH balance of around 3. This, along with a high sugar content, puts it on the same footing as many other sugary drinks.
Dr Mihir Shah, Head Dentist at Battersea Park Dental, is supporting DenTek, the innovative oral care specialist:
1. Avoid grazing to avoid tooth decay. It is not the amount, but the frequency of sugar in your diet that cause tooth decay. Spreading your sugary treats throughout the day might seem sensible, but is worse for your teeth as you are exposing them to a ‘sugar attack’ multiple times. 2. Keep to a strict oral hygiene routine. Be sure you are disciplined with your cleaning regime. Brush twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste and don’t forget to floss! DenTek recommend using their Whitening Silky Floss Picks (£6.00 from Boots) for a complete oral hygiene routine. Wait at least 20 minutes after your last snack/glass of wine before brushing your teeth. Our mouths need this time to recover as they get more acidic whilst eating and drinking. 3. Up your oral hygiene regime during the festive season. We all usually like to over indulge during this time. Try using a fluoride mouthwash at least once during the day. Fluoride is a great way to protect your teeth and helps reverse the early signs of tooth decay. Using mouthwash at the same time as brushing your teeth will only wash away the fluoride protection that your toothpaste gives you, therefore use the mouthwash at a separate time to brushing.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
4. Between meals, chew sugar-free gum. Chewing gum stimulates saliva which helps to reduce the acidity in your mouth and clear debris between your teeth. As a bonus, it also speeds up your metabolism which helps digestion. 5. Finish your meal with some cheese. Cheese is great at reducing the acid levels in your mouth after eating, helping protect your teeth. And it tastes great too! 6. Try to avoid overeating including foods that you normally wouldn’t eat. Especially harder foods such as toffees or pork scratching. Each year, we see many patients that have broken their teeth whilst eating all sorts of unusual foods over the festive season.

Communicating to other people has been a part of someone's daily life. Communicating to other people can be done in so many ways. It is either through text, email or talking face to face. Importance Of Visiting A Dental Office
We all know that a person's appearance is vital in how people treat him/her. Maintaining a healthy smile is paramount in every person. You must properly take care of your teeth so as to have a healthy glowing smile. Personal hygiene is recommended for good teeth. Other than regularly brushing and flossing your teeth, a visit to the dentist is recommended for maintenance of healthy teeth. You should see your dentist at least two times in a year. Dentists can be categorized into general dentists and cosmetic dentists. This article will talk about the importance of both types of dentists. Modern day dentistry helps concentrate more on the preventive aspect rather than just fixing problems in our teeth. Visit us at www.batterseasmiles.co.uk
A visit to the dentist will bring about early detection of problems. Cavities, gum diseases and oral cancer are a few of such problems.It is almost impossible to detect these problems because they are not painful until they are in their advanced stages. Dentists look for cavities that may be hidden between teeth. This reduces the complexity of cavity treatment and saves your teeth you may have otherwise lost to decays.Other things that dentists look for are plaque and tartar.
This can only be cleaned using special cleaning tools found at your dentist's office. Dentists also examine your tongue, throat and neck to look for any signs of cancer. Often, children mirror their parents' actions and if you regularly go to the dentist, your children will feel comfortable going too. Regularly visiting a dentist will boost one's self esteem. A healthy smile can make people's perception of you positive. If you would like to prevent people from running away from you each time you open your mouth, it is recommended to regularly visit your dentist. The major cause of bad breath is food that is stuck in hard to reach places and a dentist can clean this using special tools.
Ensuring that you visit your dentist at Battersea Smiles will help prevent loss of teeth. Loss of teeth may be caused by tooth decay, which dentists can spot and treat before it's too late. A dentist also gives advice on simple, affordable and appropriate ways to maintain your teeth. Cosmetic dentistry majorly deals with the whitening of teeth and replacement of chipped, cracked or broken teeth. People should realize that seeing a dentist is very important for not only dental care but also for overall wellbeing.
So many dental practices have been set up over the years. You can therefore choose one that you feel most comfortable in. Factors you should put into consideration when choosing a dental office include proximity to your home or workplace, working hours and your comfortability around the dentist and staff.

Your new smile journey starts with Digital Smile Design where we can preview what your smile will look like in action via images and video, so you know exactly what to expect from treatment.
Teeth Whitening
Such a simple procedure that can have such a huge impact to your look as well as your confidence. Teeth can become naturally stained over time as a result of food, drink and lifestyle habits, but certain medical conditions can also worsen the problem. With teeth whitening in Battersea, we offer multiple methods of brightening your smile as we recognise that everyone’s needs and preferences are different. The treatment technique that most people opt for is home whitening which involves the use of bespoke trays worn for approximately 2 weeks to gradually whiten your teeth over time.
Whitening works through a chemical reaction that breaks down stubborn molecules attached to the enamel. Only natural teeth can be whitened, so if you have veneers, crowns or bridges, these will need to be replaced. Teeth whitening is not a permanent solution as over time, what you consume will start to stain your teeth but with the home kit, you can top up whenever you feel your smile needs that extra boost.
If you want to enquire about teeth whitening or any other cosmetic procedure, contact the dental team today for more information.

Expert teeth tips on what NOT to do at home

PUBLISHED: 17:12, 06 November 2019 | UPDATED: 17:42, 06 November 2019

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
At-home invisible braces Without physically visiting a dentist, it would be difficult to predict the outcome of any orthodontic (teeth straightening) treatment. Poor planning can have disastrous results, sometimes resulting in gums receding and loose teeth. When you visit a dentist, pre-treatment x-rays are taken as well as full assessment of the strength of the teeth, health and quality of the supporting gums. More importantly, discussion with the patient to find out their goals. In many instances, what a dentist will want to improve and what the patient actually wants will differ. For these reasons, I would strongly suggest visiting a dentist for braces. Baking soda to whiten teeth or other foods etc. Home whitening remedies do not safely and effectively whiten your teeth. Products like baking soda are mild abrasive, which will remove surface stains from your teeth, making them appear whiter, but not actually changing the colour of them. Long term use of these can irreversibly damage your enamel. They can also make teeth very sensitive. Some other home remedies are even worse (such as lemon juice) as they are acidic and will strip enamel from teeth. Seeing a dentist for whitening is the only way to be sure you are not damaging your teeth.
Flossing with strange items (hair, plastic, string)
Cleaning in between your teeth daily is as important as brushing. Gums are delicate and need to be treated with care. Using items other than floss or interdental brushes can do more damage than good.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Repairing your own teeth at home - cracks, chipped teeth or even decay Repairing your own teeth can make a simple problem very complicated to treat. There is usually a reason the tooth has cracked or chipped in the first place and this needs to be identified and treated appropriately or it may happen again. Whilst repairing a tooth at home, you may inadvertently trap food or bacteria under filling, causing the tooth to decay and ultimately lead to pain, infection or even tooth loss. It is advisable to see a dentist as soon as possible, and if you are unable to see them immediately, keep the tooth as clean as possible, but do not attempt to repair it at home.
