not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

I'm curious as to where you think H and L stand now. I feel like they've been broken up for a while and have had little to no contact. I have a theory based on Louis' denials. 

When things were good with them, he treated the denials amusingly; when things were tense/they were fighting or broken up, he would be angry and lash out. But the one this past April, he was so resigned. It was curious to even take that question (I know from a PR standpoint it creates a lot of press to be linked to Harry). He really seemed detached while answering, as if he's so far removed from that relationship and has just accepted that the theories will follow him forever. There's been some other interviews in the last few years where his quotes regarding Harry give off similar vibes. 

I do wonder what Liam's death has/will change for all of them. Grief has a way of altering how you look at your own relationships, your past, your future. It's horrifying to think that their pain and trauma will be re-litigated in the press once they start doing interviews again (I assume we'll get HS4 first, so it will be Harry), but 1D is relevant now in a way it hasn't been in nearly a decade. The past is present. 

My own personal hot take is that best case, it's messy/on again/off again, worst case, hard break up, whomst can say what the (faith in the) future brings, but nada for now. I'm definitely NOT in the camp of they never broke up, they're hashtag married, loved up, whatever the gold-star crowd stands by, but I would imagine that's a big ole UO. But what you say here, YEAH, I totally get and am on board with! I feel for both of them, whatever their relationship status is or was, it's front and center, no matter what they have to say about it, which is so dehumanizing, almost zoo-enclosure-like. And with Liam's death pushing everything back to the fore, post-pandemic, I imagine it's even worse. One of my fave podcasters says Harry won't release HS4 until 2026, so we'll have to wait and see what future lyrics have to say about it, if that's your jam (reader: it's mine), but I also think it's a clear sign of him, at least, pushing back and stepping back, which is a bit unusual and mighty interesting. Claw that privacy back, bb!

came up with a great idea to take the teens at work on a camping trip to a national park that's designated as an international dark site where you can see the milky way and it's right on a river so we can fish and maybe even kayak. did all this research looking for the right spot and the best dates to do it and some other cool stuff we can do to prepare them for the trip. aaaand admin has decided to steal my idea and open it up to the other teen centers in our organization and if we don't agree to that they probably will not let us do it at all

after winning the lottery, patrick invested in a huge piece of property in willow creek. garfield and chasity have their own space in the basement, and so does george, who's been trying to break into the entertainer career.

patrick, who now has more simoleons than he could ever know what to do with, quit the business career and has been working hard as a writer. he also adopted two cats, willow and blossom, and made things official with his childhood friend turned lover, kayson.

i think the failure of the yellowjackets approach and (to an extent, because it absolutely doesn't land perfectly all the time) success of the umbrella academy approach to the "teens in life-changing danger must reconnect all grown up" plot is that yellowjackets contains very grounded concepts treated with almost TOO much *oomph* and TUA contains very elaborate concepts that it treats elaborately. with yellowjackets whenever there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots i just get annoyed that they can't stick with one or two, settle down and really stew in them, whereas when there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots on the bad sibling show im like yeah comic book. that's exactly where you're supposed to be . but no that's not it actually. still thinking out loud. it's that yellowjackets sometimes deviates from its central question which is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Out There' to do other stuff that doesn't connect well and comes off over-the-top because it's disconnected. but TUA's central question is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Because Of Dad' and absolutely every single poor decision they make or relationship they bungle or disaster they fail to avert comes right back to that question no matter how wacky a path it takes to get there
