RAF Typhoons will support air safety at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

RAF Squadron 12 Typhoon fighter leads a formation with a Rafale and a Mirage 2000-5.

The Typhoon fighters of Squadron 12 of the Royal British Air Force (RAF) will contribute to air safety at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Qatar will host the tournament, with matches scheduled to start in November 2022. This will be the first time that an Arab country has held the event, which brings together national football teams competing in the World Cup.

Squadron 12, based at Coningsby RAF Base, is a United Kingdom-Qatar joint squadron with Typhoon fighters. They will support the efforts to combat terrorism during FIFA competition, ensuring that it is safe and successful for all football fans around the world.

The news was confirmed by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, during a meeting earlier this week.

The leaders celebrated the shared relationship between Qatar and the United Kingdom, affirming their commitment to continue strengthening their strategic partnership and facing global challenges together.

Squadron 12's contribution to air safety will be part of broader support from the UK Ministry of Defense in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Additional maritime safety capabilities, advanced site search training, operational planning support, command and control support and additional expert advice will also be provided.

The RAF operates two joint squadrons with the Qatari Emirate Air Force. The other, the Joint Hawk Training Squadron, is based at RAF Base in Leeming, northern England, and aims to train pilots from both air forces. In total, the Qatari Air Force ordered 24 Typhoons and 9 Hawk jet trainers from the British manufacturer BAE Systems.

it's definitely been forever since i've last posted here, or well, existed on tumblr for a good while now. i haven't really drawn any leem or any Madagascar related stuff in MONTHS, and just my general smelly self moving onto new things to go all HAAAAAAGH over n' whatnot lol

for about a recent good month now, I've been into marine life, and of course, i absolutely ended up fixating over it, evidently realizing how much i was into aquatic/marine animals before i officially was into them lol

it felt GREAT honestly because i was mainly into birds for like- what? 3+ years? and i didn't really have much good memories being a bird and i really wasn't diversifying my interests much idk- i was into leems for like almost a whole year but of course that died down

maybe it'll come back up? im not really sure honestly

i have this weird mentality that i HAVE to fixate on a species, that if that fixation slows down, it apparently means i ain't into them anymore and i really just feel like I've been forcing myself to go nutso on things and i just tend to feel really bad sometimes cause of how sudden my interests are and that i just think too much about them

i also always think of trying to do some grand project/idea all the time like, holy heck why? why do i gotta devote myself so hard into liking something? i don't understand myself and things and just AUGHh

but i have gotten a genuine interest in marine life, and that interest exploded quite rapidly actually lol

A Maori Significance? Facial Tattoos

Hey ya'll, stepping in to talk about a possible significance to the facial tattoos of the clones, particularly Jesse and Hunter. 

In Moari culture, the art of a tattoo is called a Ta Moko that draws a deep and unique expression of cultural heritage and identity. Common places for a man's Moko is their buttocks, thighs and face. In Moari culture, the head is the most sacred part of their body, so facial tattoos hold the most significance and is the ultimate way to expression their cultural identity.

With that in your head, you know now that the face is the most significant place for a Moko to be done. Now it is worth noting that a Moko have many universal designs, certain lines and shapes hold a certain significance to a person's life. (Fun fact: the main lines in a Moko are called Manawa, which means heart). So obviously, Jesse's and Hunter's tattoos are not Maori based, but perhaps the placement is?

We know the face, in Maori culture, holds a huge significance, strongly tied to one's personal identity. We all know Jesse has the symbol of the Republic on his face, we all know clones held a loyalty to the Republic, but for it to be on his face, we can draw this conclusion: His identity is linked to the Republic. The most significant part of Jesse and his life is the Republic. We can look to the experience of being a clone in general to draw the inference that Jesse’s life is to serve as a pawn for the Republic. But he stills draws such a deep connection and identity to the side he’s on, what type of person would he be without the Republic? Would he even be a person? The Republic had shaped his entire life, it gave him people to love, a cause to fight for, the Republic gave Jesse life, but also took it in the end. 

I do believe that is why his death was so significant, especially during the helmet scene, where the frame freezes on his helmet (that has the Republic symbol on it too). It’s such a symbolic play, to tie Jesse’s entire life, all of his personality, all of his friends and family, all of his love, to the Republic, so when he died, regardless of if he had lived, he would have died with the Republic, because what is a person without the aspects of their life that make them such?

I brought in Hunter because his tattoo is an ode to the Bad Batch symbol of a skull. Based on previous points, we can infer Hunter’s identity is strongly linked to his team, the Bad Batch, not the Republic. Hunter’s life and who he is as a person has nothing to do with the Republic, the life he has built and the people he loves are his identity, the Bad Batch is his identity. So when the Republic ended, is it safe to say he’s lived on? Him and his family were simply created for the Republic but their lives were not tied to such. He had his own ship, his own family, he didn’t serve as Jesse had. (I’m not saying Jesse didn’t have a family). Hunter was able to truly grow as his own person and to make choices that were his own, so to have the half skull on his face, I believe it is to tie the fact that Hunter’s identity is strongly tied to the Bad Batch, however, just as Jesse, when his identity suffers, when his identity dies, so will he.

Karl is probably my favourite villain in the show, he's just so sneaky and so ready to mess things up for the lemur bois.

He also has a fair amount of angst to him as well, with his brother being such a jerk, and his parents. They were negligent like Julien's, but instead of growing into healthier relationships with the people surrounding him, Karl didn't seem to have this, and decides to hurt the people around him for fun instead. Poor guy. I'm glad that he found Chauncey. (Yes I ship this)

I love Chauncey as well, he's always just there going along with his boyfriend's schemes and supporting him. I absolutely loves their interactions in the Jungle Rooster episode with Chauncey getting jealous and doing something for himself. They actually gave him a personality as well, he's his own little character and I feel for him.

But yes Karl is great. I especially love when he teams up with Julien and co, especially in Exiled, because their interactions are just GOLD.

AHKJ Pirate AU!

I have been listening to The Wellerman sea shanty too much lol.

But basically, in this AU UKJ proposes that prince Julien ventures off to find a new island to colonize for the kingdom. Julien is 100% keen, and wrangles together a team of would-be sailors as his crew.

And to make sure Julien's gone for good, UKJ hires a team of pirate mercenaries to take him out. One of these pirates happens to be Pancho.

Pancho and his crew launch their attack on Juliens fleet, but when Clover and the others put up more of a fight than they bargained for Pancho's crew abandons him (Andy never changes). Clover is keen to make a brutal example of him, but Julien admires the crowned lemur pirates sailing skills, and chooses to rather force him to join them and navigate/sail for them. This is much to the chagrin of Mort, who even as the Dread Pirate mostly gets ignored by Julien.

Pancho joins willingly, but to him this is an excellent way to still finish is his job. Under the pretense of navigating them to a bountiful promise land, he keeps purposefully leading them through dangerous terroritories. Mort can tell they are being led astray, but Julien refuses to listen to him. Julien also loves the danger, all he sees is fun, adventure, and legendary victories that will make him go down in history. Clover and Maurice try to tell him something about this seems off to them too, but Clover, in spite of her better judgment, is also loving these daring and violent adventures. Krakens? Ghost ships? Sirens? She loves it, as much as she tries to hide it.

Of course, Pancho's going to have a change of heart as he finds the loyal family he's always wanted in the prince and his new friends, more priceless than any reward UKJ could offer him. There's drama, but he's forgiven in the end.

I just desperately want the leems to sing sea shanties together, with naval outfits and pirate gear. Picture Pancho with ear piercings and an open peasant shirt! And a scimitar!

Also I want them to sing The Wellerman song and The Rocky Road to Dublin. 🥺 Willie starts humming a tune they find familiar, and Pancho, Horst and Ted join in until the whole crew is singing and Julien's like 8D because this is exactly the sort of fun he's always wanted for his people without his uncle getting in the way.

Also loving the thought of Julien paying for a captain to sail for them, only for something like this to go down.

Police official Azfar Mehsar told reporters that the bomber rammed his vehicle into the police truck, detonating the explosives and forcing the police truck to plunge into a ravine.
