Remaking my RWBY OCs: Team KYNT

IDC if this is cringe I made these almost 4 years ago and I'm probably going to write the fanfiction soon if I can get the motivation.

Team KYNT (Kyanite) consists of Kelly Greene, Yale Taivas, Noire Deces, and Tawny Erimos. They attend Beacon Academy in their second year, one year ahead of team RWBY and JNPR.

Kelly Greene

Name meaning: Kelly is a shade of green and also means warrior and bright-minded in Gaelic. Greene is a different spelling of the word green, while also meaning at the green, a grassy plot used by the village common.

Semblance: Banshee's Cry; she can let out a supersonic screech. This takes up a lot of aura, so in battle she only uses it in a dire emergency. One scream and she's out, two on maybe a really good day.

Weapon: Mandolin; a musical instrument with a different type of dust ingrained into each string. The colors are always changing, implying that she regularly changed the strings on her instrument before and after battle.

Background: Kelly was born in Sanus, but traveled around Remnant for most of her life. Her parents were famous musicians who would preform from big cities like Atlas to small villages outside of the protection of guarding huntsmen. It was at one of these shows where a Grimm attack took place and she got separated from her parents in the chaos. Faced with an Elk-like Grimm, she screamed for help and out came a piercing shriek that knocked the Grimm back, destroying it. This left her weak, confused, and stranded until her parents found her and packed her up along with their belongings. This traumatic experience drove Kelly to want to attend Beacon academy.

Personality: Kelly is a soft-spoken woman, avoiding large crowds when she can and keeping to herself. If you wish to find her you usually can by looking for her in an empty lecture room practicing her music or in the library reading. She values her solitude, which is challenging when met with the responsibility of being team leader. Her performance background has helped in being able to mask this, however even this can only help her so much.

Additional notes: Dating Coco Adel of Team CVFY. I don't remember if I added this before or after her sexuality was made canon but I've loved Coco ever since her debut in Volume 2. Also she absolutely has an Irish accent, North Dublin to be exact

I didn't expect this to be this long so I guess I'll put the other three in their own separate posts too.

This is the end of the "trailer" chapters. The next chapter will begin the story of their second year, during Team RWBY's first year at Beacon, as well as Team KYNT's first year through flashbacks. I hope you have enjoyed the characters as much as I have so far.

Prologue 2 is out! This time we have our introduction to the smart and deadly Yale. I like her. She's cool.

I'm still new to AO3 so if there's a way to change these chapters to prologues that would be great to know but until then I guess I have no choice but to refer to them on there as chapters. Oh well.

Tawny Erimos

Name meaning: Tawny means of an orange-brown or yellowish-brown color. Erimos means wilderness, specifically desert.

Semblance: Mother Earth; when hit with a piece of rock, it sticks to her body like armor.

Weapon: Jord (pronounced "yord"); a whip in the style of a snake, with two sharp points at the end. Can straighten out to become a harder, sword-like weapon.

Background: Tawny grew up in a village in the deserts of Vacuo. Because of the lack of protection they got from being a small settlement, they were very susceptible to Grimm attacks. Because of the issues this had caused, Tawny enrolled in a Huntsmen academy, and later graduated to Beacon academy as opposed to Shade academy. Because Vale was much bigger than Vacuo, she wanted to see the difference it made to her small village along with Vacuo as a whole.

Personality: Tawny is a very energetic and loves a good fight. She's very much an extrovert and acts as the powerhouse of the team. That being said, she loves getting her hands dirty and use the battlefield to her advantage, and taking in the outdoors.

Additional notes: She loves the tall buildings of Vale and takes every opportunity to go up in them.

Noire Deces

Name Meaning: Noire means black. Deces means death. Her name is a reference to the bubonic plague, or the Black Death.

Semblance: Dark Arts; shadow manipulation

Weapon: Plague; A wooden baston, carved with a spiral pattern. That's it, nothing special about it. Just bonk.

Background: Noire spent most of her life in Menagerie, however to escape the crowds of the faunus populated island her and her family emigrated to Vacuo shortly before she enrolled at Beacon Academy. Being surrounded by faunus as well as the open-minded city of Vacuo, the close-mindedness of some of the citizens of Vale came across as a bit of a shock. However, given her personality, it was nothing that she could not handle.

Personality: Much like her team leader, Kelly Greene, Noire keeps to herself. Unlike Kelly her reasons are much more devious than introverted. While her teammate, Yale Taivas, studies people's battle strategies, Noire studies their motives; body language, use of words, tone of voice. She does this to see who is worth placing her trust in. When she eventually does open up to you, for better or for worse, she is blunt to a fault. This causes the misconception of her being mean-spirited, but she simply does not like mincing words and would rather tell people what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear.

Additional Notes: Rat faunus; has a rat tail.

Yale Taivas

Name meaning: Yale is a Welsh name meaning heights, upland; fertile moor, and is also associated with the University located in New Haven, Connecticut. Taivas means sky.

Semblance: Kinetics; the more she moves and object, the more damage it will do. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Weapon: Minerva; an aluminum baton that infuses with the fine dust that is held within the cylinder. The dust is held within small compartments within the thicker bottom part of the baton, and with the click of a button the compartments rotate on the inside and one type of dust will go into the middle. The thinner stop part of the baton will then resend into the bottom part and come out infused with the type of dust. In order to keep the wielder from harming themselves when using fire or lightning dust the bottom is encased in rubber. Yale also keeps multiple types of dust on her at all times.

Background: Yale was born and raised in Vale. Her parents are both scientists that haled from Mantle, but emigrated due to the harsh conditions. Yale became enthralled with the world of hunters and huntresses at an early age, being around Beacon Academy and the times that the Vytal Festival was held in Vale. She was enrolled in Signal Academy where she bettered her fighting and strategies, and is constantly on her scroll taking notes and researching others. Team KYNT depends on her as their strategist as she pays close attention to everyone's fighting style and hyperfixates until she's learned everything she can.

Personality: Yale is a brainiac, almost to the point of being a know-it-all. She loves learning new things, especially ways to better both herself and her team. This also leads to an obsessive personality that can go on for days, weeks, months, or even forever. She enjoys collecting notebooks and dedicates them to each topic she studies. Some notebooks have multiple volumes.

Additional Notes: Neurodivergent. Current obsession is more ways to use dust. Entertained the idea of attending Atlas Academy but decided not to if only because she didn't want to join the military right after graduation.
