"Many hands make light work in the spirit of Bayanihan"
Bayanihan is a unique concept in Filipino culture that represents the spirit of community cooperation and mutual support. It is a reflection of the strong sense of community and social responsibility that is deeply ingrained in the Filipino way of life.

The term "Bayanihan" is derived from the word "bayani," which means hero or patriot. It refers to the collective heroism of a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal. Bayanihan is frequently depicted as a group of people carrying a house or other heavy object, with each person taking a portion of the weight and working together to move it to a new location. This act represents the value of working together and supporting one another in times of need.
Bayanihan exemplifies Filipino values such as cooperation, solidarity, and mutual support. It is a practice that has been passed down through generations and is still prevalent in modern Filipino society. Despite modernization and globalization's challenges, bayanihan remains an important part of Filipino culture, reminding us of the value of community and the strength that comes from working together toward a common goal.

Larong nakasanayan muli nating balikan ( A commemoration of street games in the PH)
Let's travel back in time to when we were free-spirited and young!

Try reminiscing—can you guess the games above? Comment down below with your answers!
Every country has its own culture that its people are attached to and will never forget. Among Filipinos, the most famous and unremarkable are the street games, which can still be heard and seen in some areas. The most memorable is when you come home sweaty and filthy from playing on the street. How I miss going back to the days when you would go out with your friends and play till late at night, when your parents would be waiting for you, who seemed enraged because you arrived home so late. That is why it is sometimes distressing to see how the street games appear to be rapidly fading due to the trend of modern technology and the involvement of young people in gadgets. But this is where we will take a stand, and we must not allow the culture that every Filipino grew up with to be forgotten. Let us continue to appreciate the things that represent every Filipino youth in our country. The game of the streets must have no end and shall never be forgotten.

The bustle of departures and arrivals is just sooooo good. Sobrang worth the shit holes and plot twists that have been sooooo crazy the past weeks. Never mind naubos social and mental battery natin forda greater emeee. Lol.
Coming from a highly social space last night, I was not expecting anything at all. Pero syempre anxiety is soooo high but because I am learning to ask for and receive help, andito na tayo sa point na 'connecting the dots backward' era.
Todo ora et labora rin tayo because wala na e. It's now or never. And, here I am trying to open myself to possibilities instead of dumbing every piece of shit down. More importantly, this is the version of me na my life beyond the daily grind naaaa, mhiema. Lels. Lulssss. Eto na. Kadireeee. And talaga namang hindi papagiba ang mga kaganapan kasi if there's one thing I need and want... legit at solid safe space talaga. And while sobrang lala pa rin ng avoidant self ko, I am really making a choice to move beyond the past shits. Lol. Huyyyyy.
Funny how my view rn is a couple na afam-pinay with a baby. Luhhhhhhhhh. Juic333koooooolerdzzzz. Abangan!

TAGAYTAY: Tila'y Nakaukit sa Paraiso
Kahanga-hanga, mahikal, at nakabibighani.

Tumblr media Tumblr media

CHICKEN CURRY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pinoys have a thing for foods cooked in coconut milk and chilies. Just like this recipe, add a little spice and a little creaminess and you’ll have this delicious Chicken Curry.
DISH YOU KNOW? The Filipino chicken curry originated from the famous Indian curry dish. We adapted it from Indian soldiers who settled in the Philippines. The difference is that, the localized version is not as strong as the Indian curry. Also, the Filipino uses tatak Pinoy ingredients such as coconut milk, carrots and potatoes.
INGREDIENTS:
Set A:
1 kilo chicken
4 tablespoons fish sauce
4 pcs calamansiSet
B:Oil2 pieces potatoes
2 pieces carrotsSet
C:1 onion
3 cloves garlic
1 thumb-size ginger
1/2 cup curry powder
1 1⁄2 cup coconut milksaltpepper
SET D:1 cup coconut milk
1/2 piece green bell pepper
1/2 piece red bell pepper
1 tablespoon fish sauce Related Recipe

Shell-shocked. Stricken. Shattered.
I used to be a highly patriotic Filipino. In fact, I used to be so patriotic to the point of judging people who didn't know how to or chose not to speak their mother tongue!
When everyone else were eager to strip themselves of their national identity, I was one of those who tutted in disapproval.
Despite my burning patriotism, I still acknowledged that the country had severe issues. To me and perhaps for many as well, it was like the Philippines had a penchant for trouble. Still, I kept putting those problems in the back of my mind because, well, it's almost Tatak Pinoy™ at this point right?; where every day a new issue to stress about just popped out left and right. I lived my days dreaming that perhaps someday, God would finally turn His head on us and send us someone who well and truly good to be our saving grace, a modern Messiah of sorts.
When VP Leni announced that she would fight for the presidency, I felt hope. Meager and paltry as it was, I felt true hope—that perhaps God had finally dealt us His merciful hand and given our country a chance.
For months after her declaration, hope bloomed like a precarious flower in my heart.
When the long-awaited day came, I felt nerves but also excitement. Not only because I am a first-time voter, but because genuine change was so close that I could taste it. I'm notorious for being the most pessimistic of all, that even when victory in school competitions would be inches near, I would still believe that it could be snatched away. Thus, to brace for impact, I convinced myself that no matter what happened, I would never regret making the only right choice.
But just like the memory that evades you, the word that stays on the tip of your tongue, and the sand between your fingers, hope slipped from our grasps again.
Just when I gave myself a shot at optimism, the utopia I envisioned for us all came crashing down at my feet.
As the fabled saying goes: "Nasa tao ang gawa, nasa Diyos ang awa." Like in Michelangelo's painting Creazione di Adamo, humanity had to stretch out its fingers and receive His grace too.
After all, what good is an outstretched hand when no one reaches back?
Dreams of a prospering Philippines has crumbled right in front of our eyes. As a young person who yearns selfishly for myself, selflessly for others, and whose heart breaks regularly para sa mga nasa laylayan... I am simply distraught. Just when I thought we could finally dare to dream, thieves unexpectedly came in the night to seize that away and even stopped to slap me in the face for even thinking of the prospect.
If you ask me now whether I am still my same patriotic self, I'd say I'm not so proud anymore. No, actually, I'm not proud at all. I am beyond ashamed and mortified to be a Filipino. This country is utterly God-forsaken and irrevocably hopeless.
