I live on the Tampa bay coast only 20 min from the water so I evacuated Sunday night. It is scary not knowing how long it will be before I can get home after Milton. Or not knowing how much damage my home or surrounding areas will get. Please pray for Florida. A lot of areas are barely recovered from Helene less than two weeks ago. :(

Gabe Fleisher at Wake Up To Politics:
A few weeks ago, after CNN published its bombshell report about North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, I was texting with a friend. Rumors had been flying around the political world all day about what the report would bring. Now that it had arrived, my friend told me he was unimpressed; it wasn’t as earth-shattering as he’d been expecting. “One day, when your grandchildren ask you what American politics was like in 2024,” I responded, “you can tell them that we learned a gubernatorial candidate called himself a Nazi on a porn website, and your initial response was to shrug.” [...]
The U.S. is currently grappling with two major hurricanes at once — trying to prepare for one while still recovering from the damage of the other. The latter, Hurricane Helene, was the deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland U.S. since Katrina in 2005. More than 200 people have been killed, mostly in North Carolina, but also in Georgia and South Carolina as well. Entire towns in western North Carolina were leveled; some residents have now gone more than a week without running water.
The former, Hurricane Milton, is expected to make landfall in Florida tonight. Forecasters suggest that it could hit Tampa Bay, which was also impacted by the devastation of Helene but has not been in the direct path of a hurricane since 1921. The city is considered uniquely vulnerable to natural disaster; analysts are already predicting damage upwards of $50 billion. Local, state, and federal officials have been pleading with anyone in Milton’s path to evacuate immediately. “I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: If you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die,” Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said on CNN earlier this week.
“Several years ago I asked [the National Hurricane Center] to show me what the worst case storm hitting Florida would look like,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) posted on X. “What they showed me back then is almost identical to the #Milton forecast now.” With both storms hitting the U.S. only weeks before a heated presidential election, it is not shocking that they has quickly been sucked into the political discourse. America has a long history of election-year disasters becoming talking points on the campaign trail, from Hurricane Andrew hurting George H.W. Bush in 1992 to Hurricane Sandy boosting Barack Obama in 2012. But the responses to Helene and Milton have been marked by something new: an unprecedented flood of misinformation and conspiracy theories. Don’t take it from me. Take it from FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, who told reporters on a Tuesday conference call that the misinformation surrounding these two hurricanes has been “absolutely the worst I have ever seen.”
Many of the false claims have come directly from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who has claimed that: the Biden administration is “going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas” (GOP governors have said otherwise); that “Kamala spent all her FEMA money, billions of dollars, on housing for illegal migrants” (FEMA’s congressionally-appropriated program to help local governments house migrants is completely separate from FEMA’s disaster relief funds); and that “we give foreign countries hundreds of billions of dollars and we’re handing North Carolina $750” (that is merely the amount of aid made available to hurricane victims immediately; over the long run, victims can receive up to tens of thousands of dollars in support). A slew of Trump allies, including X owner Elon Musk, have amplified several other conspiracy theories online. But the prize for Biggest Whopper goes to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who posted — on her official congressional account — this week: “Yes they can control the weather.” The supposed “they” was not immediately identified, although Greene previously suggested in 2018 that California wildfires that year were caused by space lasers linked to the Rothschilds, a prominent Jewish family that has long been the subject of antisemitic conspiracy theories. (Greene posted again about “lasers controlling the weather” this week.) In recent weeks, Hurricanes Helene and Milton have sparked a flurry of antisemitic attacks against Jewish officials involved in the response, including claims that they created the disasters.
In her initial post, Greene attached a video of former CIA Director John Brennan discussing geoengineering, an umbrella term for scientific research into manipulating climate systems in order to mitigate the effects of climate change. Geoengineering remains largely theoretical; it is not possible to geoengineer a hurricane, and the technology has no connection to anything that happened with either Helene or Milton. “Climate change is the new Covid,” Greene asserted in another message. “Ask your government if the weather is manipulated or controlled. Did you ever give permission to them to do it? Are you paying for it? Of course you are.”
Other right-wing influencers advanced the argument. “The weather can and is being manipulated,” Georgia Republican Party official Kandiss Taylor posted to her nearly 60,000 X followers, adding: “[Georgia] voting has been compromised and don’t know if we will be able to get all our early voting days in. Now, a hurricane is coming straight for Florida. These two states are necessary for a Trump victory! No coincidence.” Taylor’s message has received more than 3 million views on X. The theories became popular enough in right-wing circles that Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC), who represents Asheville and most of western North Carolina (the area hit hardest by Helene), issued a press release on Tuesday to reassure his constituents of the falsity of various claims. Near the top of the list? “Nobody can control the weather,” he wrote. The statement, in its entirety, is a fascinating historical document — showing the types of claims that a Republican congressman felt he needed to fact-check in 2024, partially due to misinformation spread by his own colleagues and his party’s presidential candidate.
This piece in Wake Up To Politics by Gabe Fleisher is a must-read on the misinformation/disinformation crisis regarding Hurricanes Helene and Milton, thanks to Donald Trump and MAGA-aligned figures (especially in the right-wing media apparatus).

Good luck during Milton and stay safe, I’m right in it’s path and everyone is freaking tf out so I hope you’re in a better area and the damage isn’t too bad
ahh i hope you guys didn't get hit too badly T-T i'm pretty far south so the main concern was flooding and tornados, but everything we got was pretty manageable. usually i'm strictly a west coast hater, but i've been hearing some pretty awful things out of tampa + the surrounding area so please stay safe in the aftermath <3 we absolutely cannot let a bitch named milton be the end of our state.

Hello, was wondering if you could do a story about arber xhekaj you can do whatever you want with it. Thank you
okay friend, this is just a little thing. I hope you're okay that I did an oc, I gave her a Norwegian name (for some reason I picture her as someone who was either born in Norway and then made their way to Canada as a kid so they grew up there or her parents immigrated there) (if not let me know I will fix it!) im sure this idea has been done before, but I hope you enjoy.
also slight warning I know nothing really of hospital policies regarding breaks and people bringing in food for love ones or really the Canadian hospital systems, so this is most likely wildly inaccurate. apologies.
The Fighter
l Arber Xhekaj l arber x nurse l masterlist l
Arber loved visiting his girlfriend at her job after a game. He didn't always do it. But if it seemed like it was a slower night he would go in and bring her food.
Like tonight the Habs won their game and he wanted to celebrate a little with his girl, so he stopped by her favorite place and grabbed them both some take out and snagged a couple of boxes for her co workers to enjoy.
When he got to the hospital, he was able to head on into their little break area and she was in shortly after.
"You've been fighting again, haven't you?" she pursed her lips, she didn't even have to look at him to know he had black and blue marks surrounding his eye.
She couldn't watch the game, but there was this pep in his step that he only got when he dropped the gloves in a game and she noticed it when he stopped by the hospital after the match up to join her on her break.
"Silly it was nothing. I was just doing my job." He pulled away after giving her a kiss on the cheek, tired of having this argument with his girlfriend.
He knew she didn't like all the hitting and fighting he did during games, but that was his thing. He was the sheriff, someone you didn't want to mess with, a force to be reckoned with. He defended and stood up for his teammates.
"I know but Arber, you don't always have to be the one to do it. There are others." She lectured the hard hitter, her voice grew softer with each passing word. "I just worry about you, okay? There's all this research with concussions and lasting effects and not to mention other the other-"
"Stop. I'm done having this conversation. Can we just enjoy the food I brought before you get called away again, please?" The hockey play pleaded.
"Did you guys win tonight?" Silje changed the tone of the conversation, he was right. It was useless trying to convince someone of something they were never going to change.
"Did you score?" She asked already knowing the answer was going to be no, but she was mildly surprised when he shook his head yes. He's a defenceman, scoring wasn't the biggest part of his job, but when he did it was nice touch.
Getting up she move to sit in his lap, she lifted his chin so she could give him a kiss. She was still so proud of him doing what he loved to and living out his dreams.
Silje immediately threw herself into bed when she got home. She was exhausted from running around all night. And to top it off after he had left there was a big accident in which one of her patients didn't make it.
She was ready for sleep, but Arber was still up and he had something he wanted to say. He had thought about what she said at the hospital.
"I'm sorry babe. I know you don't like the fighting, it's apart of my identity as a player. But I try and do better. I can't promise I'll stop but I'll do better." He made the broken promise.
"That's all I ask." Silly smiled her goofy smile.
Silje had a few minutes left on her break and she was watching what was left of the Habs home game against the Tampa Bay Lighting, Cole just accepted a big hit into side boards and second later she noticed Arber heading toward the offender. She sighed and turned off her phone not really wanting to watch any more. Plus she really needed to go back.
"Silly, it's your turn, there's an ambulance coming in hot with a live one." the desk informed her.
Silje groaned getting up from her spot, following the others out to the main ambulance entrance waiting for the arrival of their next patient.
"Any info?" She got goosebumps while waiting outside, she rubbed her hand over her arms in an attempt to keep warm.
"It's a hockey player coming from the bell centre." She nodded along paying more attention to getting stuff ready for the incoming patient than to what was being said, but she happened to catch the place they were coming from.
"What did you say?" She couldn't breathe. This wasn't happening. Her worst nightmare couldn't be coming true. He promised he would be careful. No.
Silje began to cry when the emergency vehicle arrive and they brought out the injured player. She screamed when she saw his face and dark hair.
Let me know what you think

The storm that’s on its way from the gulf is no joke.
If you have the means to, evacuate!
Tampa and surrounding areas are absolutely going to get the brunt of this and it’s very important that you know this is life threatening. And that is putting it lightly.
Everything is replaceable, your life is not!

As many are still concentrated on the absolute devastation Helene brought to the western NC/eastern TN mountain towns (rightly so), Florida has yet another hurricane bearing down on us.
Recently many of the hurricane landfalls recently haven’t been in populated areas.
This is one of the times where it looks like it is going to hit two of the biggest metropolitan areas in Florida. Tampa and Orlando and the surrounding counties are not only big but one of the fastest growing regions in the state.
This hurricane stands be to… a history maker because it is now a Category 5 hurricane. If it doesn’t weaken, then it will devastate the west coast of Florida and some of the inland counties. The insurance and housing crisis will get worse.
I’ve been through several hurricanes but this one worries me. Pray for Florida and everyone here. And tell anyone living on the coast to evacuate and get out now.

Romania 🥰
This year my summer is a bit Dracula themed and last month I went on a little trip to Romania by myself. Romania is a beautiful country, it's tourism still growing and not everything is perfect, but there are plenty of wonderful places to see that are more than worth the visit, so here you have some tips for some Dracula tourism in his home country. 😊
Brasov - Whether you're going to Romania to follow Dracula or not, Brasov is an excellent place to start. Situated in the centre of Transylvania, it is a lovely, historical city and a tourist centre from which you can travel to different places of interest in the surrounding area. In the 15th century, Brasov was one of the most important cities belonging to the Transylvanian Saxon merchants, who didn't have a very good relationship with Vlad Tepes and according to legend, Vlad once came to the city and impaled 40 of the merchants on the nearby Tampa mountain. You can visit the mountain yourself either by climbing one of the tracks or using a cable car that travels from the foot of the mountain. Once you come back down, you can visit the beautiful Council Square with the famous Black Church and then you can go have lunch to the Dracula restaurant that features some lovely Dracula-themed decorations. 🙂
Bran Castle - From Brasov, you can then travel by bus or book a day tour to the Bran Castle, nestled in the mountains not far from the city. Bran is famously called Dracula's Castle, even though it has little to do with either the vampire or the prince, beside the fact the the castle is said to have been the inspiration for the actual castle in the book. But here at Bran they love their connection to the vampire that brings crowds of tourists to the area and the castle features a small exhibition dedicated not only to Vlad Tepes and Dracula, but also to other stories from Romanian folklore. In addition to that, the castle is a museum featuring exhibits from the life of the royal family, who used to live in this castle during the last century. 😊
Sighisoara - If you want to truly immerse yourself in the story of Vlad Tepes, you can travel to the beautiful town of Sighisoara, where he was originally born in 1431 and you can find signs of his presence everywhere. Sighisoara is a lovely city with a small, medieval fortress situated on a hill in its centre. This UNESCO heritage site will make you feel like you've been transported back in time with its colourful, old buildings and unigue, medieval atmosphere. The most famous building is a large clock tower that you can see from everywhere in the city, but a few steps from the tower you can find the house where young Vlad Tepes lived with his family for the first few years of his life. Today the building houses a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
Continuing with our exploration of the city, not far from the house, between a church and the city's town hall, you will find a stone bust of Vlad Tepes, commemorating the city's connection to the ruler. Walking back to the square and turning to another street, you can then visit the Mystical Transylvania museum that offers two small, but very well made exhibits, one talking about some famous stories from the city's history and the other one focusing on the story of Vlad Tepes himself, narrating his life with the use of projections, light and shadow and other special effect and an entertaining voice acting.
Though the journey had some challenges, I had a lot of fun and definitely will visit Romania again to see some other cool places, not only those connected to Dracula, and there's still a lot of these, but also from the large collection of other places that I haven't seen yet. 🥰

I admit that I'm terrified of this hurricane that will be soon upon Florida. I live in the Tampa Bay area, but thankfully I'm further inland so I don't have to worry about the surges that the coastline will be getting. The wind is what worries me. My house is surrounded by trees and it's scary to think that any of them could get knocked down. This is predicted to be the worst hurricane we will see in our lifetime.
Stay safe my fellow Floridians.

Recovering from a storm is a multifaceted process that involves more than just cleaning up visible damage. Post-storm property restoration requires assessing structural integrity, addressing water damage, mitigating mold growth, and restoring essential systems like electricity and plumbing. Here’s a breakdown of the key stages involved:
1. Initial Damage Assessment
After a storm, a thorough inspection is critical to assess the extent of damage. A professional restoration company will examine the roof, windows, doors, and exterior walls for structural damage. They will also inspect the interior for water damage, including hidden moisture that could lead to mold growth.
Key areas that require assessment include:
2. Water Removal and Drying
Water damage is one of the most common issues after a storm, especially in flood-prone areas like St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Clearwater. It’s crucial to remove standing water quickly to prevent further damage. Restoration teams use industrial-grade pumps, vacuums, and dehumidifiers to dry the affected areas thoroughly.
Standing water can:
3. Mold Remediation
Mold is a serious concern in post-storm restoration, particularly in humid environments like Largo and Palm Harbor. Mold can begin to grow quickly in damp areas, often in hidden spaces like behind walls or under floors. Restoration teams will use specialized equipment to locate and eliminate mold to prevent long-term health risks and property damage.
Mold remediation involves:
4. Structural Repairs
After assessing the damage, the next step is making structural repairs to restore your property to its pre-storm condition. This may include repairing or replacing damaged roofs, siding, windows, and doors, as well as fixing internal structural issues such as damaged walls or weakened foundations.
Key repairs may include:
5. Restoration of Essential Systems
Storms often disrupt essential systems like plumbing, electricity, and HVAC systems. Restoration professionals will check for issues like:
6. Final Cleanup and Sanitization
The last stage of post-storm restoration is the final cleanup and sanitization process. This involves:
This step ensures that the property is safe, clean, and ready for use again.

I'm in Tampa again cause I want to file my bank fraud report in person at my bank..... dude I would fucking HATE living in Tampa. I'd rather live in st pete every day holy fuck. It's like literally just a city full of stupid people and 5 lane highways. Like even going by the football stadium and the hockey stadium it's like..... how is this even okay? Oakland As stadium even makes more sense than this and it's like the same situation. Like you can't walk anywhere and every time you get behind the wheel your life is literally in danger. Like I have to be honest, I really felt safer on the south side of Chicago than anywhere in the Tampa Bay area even including St Pete. Like there are probably more violent crimes per capita in Chicago but there's probably more death per capita here.
I'm actually really proud of myself for making it here and now I actually have money in the bank instead of living paycheck to paycheck. This is a really challenging place to live. I think even despite the prices NYC would be easier than this. I wonder if there are places in Texas like this. I wonder if it's like this in Jacksonville or Atlanta. It's DEFINITELY like this in Miami and surrounding area, and probably the whole fun part of A1A. Although I think Delray beach would probably be a little easier to live in than st pete.
Anyway I hate going to Tampa and I hate Tampa. There's nothing in Tampa I even care about, literally nothing

Hurricane Idalia will officially make landfall as a category 4 hurricane Wednesday morning. Life threatening storm surge along near tampa and north/northwest florida coastline. Looks like Tallahassee and surrounding areas will take most of the direct hit. Expecting 100-125+ mph constant winds (worst is the eye approaching), those winds helping the incredibly dangerous and life threatening storm surge inland, constant rain, and supercell acitivity that definitely has the ability to produce tornadoes on the eastern side of the hurricane. Emergency services will not be available, and power will be out for an uncertain amount of time.
Thinking of my friends and followers in its path. Please stay safe.

ID: screenshots of a Reddit post on R/Baseball by U/JTCMuehlenkamp. the post reads:
What if every team was named after the most abundantly populated animal in their geographical area?
Given the recent controversies over certain sports team names and the imminent rebranding of the Cleveland Indians as the Cleveland Guardians, I can't help but wonder what animal mascots would best represent the cities or states their teams reside in.
Take the Tigers for example. When you think of Detroit, you do not think of a jugle ruled over by apex feline predators. I don't know if the Detroit zoo has any tigers, or if Detroit even has a zoo for that matter, but I am 100% certain that there is at least 1 species of animal in Detroit and the surrounding areas that is more populous than tigers. The difficult part, however, is determining which animal is the most populous.
With that in mind, it also gives rise to the concern that some teams would likely share the same name in this scenario due to their close proximity. Both Chicago and New York each have 2 teams, plus the Angels like to pretend that Los Angeles does as well, so there is bound to be some overlap. I have decided that this is okay, primarily because there is no way around it. Just to avoid any confusion as to which identically named team is which though, I'll break up this list by divisions. Anyway though, this is what the MLB would look like if all the teams had to rebrand as the most common animal in their region.

New photos reveal significant damage inside Tampa Bay Rays' Tropicana Field following Hurricane Milton.
The newly released photos, taken inside the stadium in the days following Hurricane Milton's passage with 101 mph wind gusts, reveal extensive damage. Several images capture pieces of the roof scattered across the field, stands, and dugouts.
Weather Forecast For 49428 - Jenison MI:
New photos reveal the extensive damage inside the Tampa Bay Rays' Tropicana Field, where the once-covered stadium was left exposed to Hurricane Milton's fury after its roof was shredded by winds exceeding 100 mph.
The hefty repair bill has raised questions about whether the formerly domed stadium might soon become a doomed stadium.
Hurricane Milton's 101 mph winds tore through the Tampa area, ripping apart large sections of Tropicana Field's fiberglass roof.
While no one was injured at the stadium during the hurricane, the site had been designated as a staging area for utility workers.
Most of the damage is believed to be non-structural, but heavy rainfall and gusty winds left everything from the field to video equipment exposed.
Photos taken in the days following Hurricane Milton show pieces of the roof scattered across the field, stands, and dugouts.
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 94131 San Francisco CA:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/204982379/Weather-Forecast-For-94131-San-Francisco-CA
Covered areas reveal missing or rain-soaked ceiling tiles, with debris strewn across the floors.
When — or if — the stadium will be repaired remains uncertain.
The cost of repairing the damage could reach $55 million, according to a report obtained by FOX 13 Tampa Bay. The Rays had already planned to move into a new stadium for the 2028 season, but delays in the bond approval process now suggest the move may not happen until 2029 at the earliest.
On Thursday morning, the St. Petersburg City Council approved $23 million to repair the roof, citing their lease agreement with the Rays as the reason for the decision, according to FOX 13. The remaining funding was expected to come from insurance and potential government disaster assistance.
However, hours later, the council reversed course and postponed the decision. According to FOX 13, the team's president stated that the Rays might have greater clarity if the damage is left unrepaired, potentially allowing for a settlement agreement with the city in the form of a lump sum.
The city council has already approved spending over $6 million to storm-proof Tropicana Field, aiming to prevent further damage from future storms.
The repairs are just one aspect of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Rays' future. With delays in county bond approval for their new stadium, team officials warn that the entire project could be at risk.
In the meantime, the Rays are set to play the 2025 season at George Steinbrenner Field, a minor league facility in Tampa.
