Bewitched
For day 18 of @flufftober with the prompt "bewitched" I've written a Mad Men post-canon drabble featuring Tammy Campbell in the summer of 1983, and incidentally, the TV show Bewitched was in syndication from 1973-1982.
Tammy flipped through the channels in frustration, then checked TV Guide.
“No, they didn’t, did they?” she said to herself, not realizing she was talking out loud.
“What is it, Tammy?” her mom asked from the kitchen.
“When did they stop showing Bewitched reruns in the afternoon?”
Her mom walked out, looking confused.  “That show you watched when you were little?”
Tammy sighed. “I know, but I liked watching it in the afternoon when I was home last summer. It’s just a few months until college, so I wanted to watch it some more.”
“I guess it’s not on, then.”

New York - May 2024
Just back from action-packed Frieze art week festivities in the Big Apple which featured stops at Future Fair, Nada New York and Frieze New York. The art fair spree dovetailed nicely with the launch of the major post-war, contemporary, and modern auction previews scheduled for later this month at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips. The fairs and auction previews together served up fantastic art viewing opportunities for art fans and aficionados alike. And, as if that wasn’t enough given the mere 24 hours of viewing time on hand, serendipity delivered the icing on the cake with the timely opening of Tammi Campbell’s marvelous gallery exhibit of recent paintings and sculptures.
The Fairs
Frieze New York was the marquee fair, and it celebrated its 12th year as part of the cultural landscape in the city and its fourth outing at The Shed since relocating from Randall Island. The evolution of the fair since then has been considerable. From a corporate perspective, it is now part of famed Ari Emanuel’s sports and entertainment conglomerate, and, on the art front, the offering got slicker and more rarefied, featuring top-tier highly curated contemporary galleries and works. This year’s boutique-sized edition of 65 or so exhibitors included global mega galleries and international and local blue chippers. Standout works included: Nate Lowman’s “Golf Course Marilyn”, 2024, oil and alkyd on linen (50 x 30 in.); Uri Aran’s “Everything (Timeline)”, 2023, gesso, acrylic, oil, oil pastel, graphite, wood stain, clear polyurethane, charcoal, color pencil, china marker, and mixed media on canvas (87.25 x 42 x 1.5 in.); and, Richard Aldrich’s “Untitled”, 2022, oil and wax on panel (20.5 x 13.13 in.).
NADA New York has long been synonymous with contemporary and emerging art, and the fair continued to build on its reputation as being the go-to event for up-and-coming galleries. For this year’s edition, over 92 galleries, art spaces and non-profit organizations convened in the heart of Chelsea to showcase their stars, including, remarkably, 34 first time presenters. The show highlights included: a pair of works by Shaan Syed “Gorilla, Geurilla” and “To, Too, Two”, 2023, oil and paper collage on linen (35.3 x 31.5 in., each); Emma Schwartz’s “Thought You Should Know (again)”, 2024, oil, charcoal and chalk pastel on canvas (68 x 48 in.); and, Jule Korneffel’s “Alex’s Garden”, 2023, acrylic on canvas (82 x 80 in.).
Future Fair, on a relative basis, was the newest kid on the block, yet the four-year old upstart exuded a palpable vibe and excitement. With a focus on emerging galleries, the contemporary art fair featured over 100 artists from 26 countries, collaborating with over 60 local and international art dealers. Collectively creating a very accessible environment, the artists, works, and gallerists fostered a strong sense of engagement with fairgoers. Highlights included: Gwen Hardie’s assembled triptych “05.29.23”, pure venetian red and naples yellow on indian red, “09.15.23”, darkest cadmium red on indian red and “06.19.23”, lavender on warm umber (24 x 24 in., each); Beck Lowry’s “Red Threat (after Aseem)”, 2023, painted weaving on handmade wooden armature (plywood, crochet thread, oil paint) (12.5 x .75 x 1 in.); and Carolyn Case’s “Night Kitchen”, 2024, chalk pastel on pastel card with artist frame, ceramic porcelain and glaze (17 x 20 in.).
The Auction Previews
The previews for the prominent spring edition of the post-war, contemporary, and modern art auctions at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips opened to the public and welcomed everyone from the most serious global big hitters gearing up to shell out whatever it takes to walk home with a masterwork to casual and ardent fans savoring the opportunity to look at phenomenal works before they again disappear into private collections. As always, the previews were masterfully staged in wonderful spaces. Supersized showstoppers included: Andy Warhol’s “Flowers”, 1964, acrylic, fluorescent paint and silkscreen ink on linen (82 x 82 in.); Frank Stella’s “Lettre sur les sourds et muets II”, 1974, synthetic polymer paint on canvas (140.88 x 140.88 in.); Felix Gonzalez-Torres’ “(Untitled) America #3”, 1992, 42 light bulbs, porcelain light sockets and electrical cord (length 504 in.); and, Rashid Johnson’s “Anxious Red Painting September 24th”, 2020, oil on linen (72.25 x 96.25 in.). Beyond the headliners, marvelous less conspicuous works were sprinkled throughout. Memorable ones included: Brice Marden’s “Small Parchment Study #1”, 1999, oil on natural vellum stretched over plywood; Henry Taylor’s “Cruel Kids”, 2005, acrylic on canvas (28.5 x 28 in.); and Agnes Martin’s “Earth II”, 1959, oil on canvas (71.33 x 48 in.).
Tammi Campbell Exhibit
In between fairs and auction previews, Tammi Campbell’s As Long As It Lasts exhibit kicked off and featured a walk through with the artist who provided fascinating insights into her practice and the specifics about works on view. With the continuous evolution of her creative re-engineering processes and next gen wrappings, Campbell continued to push appropriation to new heights, all while making the work uniquely her own. Highlights included: the Cy Twombly inspired “Untitled (1970)”, 2024, chalk on blackboard with walnut frame (48.75 x 59.25 x 1.4 in.); and a replica of a famous Andy Warhol work with a twist “Double Elvis (Ferus Type) with Bubble Wrap and Packing Tape”, 2024, acrylic on canvas (81.25 x 58.25 x 1.25 in.).
As spirited art week festivities unfolded across the city, local sportsfans were also whipped up into a frenzy as both their hometown Rangers and Knicks advanced to the second round of their respective playoff series. On the hoops front, with the Knicks now set to tip off against the Pacers, Dino fans can also partake in some playoff excitement (by extension) as former Raptor stars Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, sporting Pacers and Knicks uniforms, respectively, are pitted against each other. The exuberance of “Crazy Eyes” versus the zen of “OG-Won Kenobe” - one of the two will get to the conference finals which should provide some solace and maybe even bring a smile to Dino nation.
For more information on any of the artists or works mentioned, the upcoming auctions, and the fate of former Dino stars, “Just Google It”.
There you have it sportsfans,

Planet Dune (2021)
My rating: 4/10
The unofficial Dune prequel you didn't know you needed. Because you don't. It's quite bad and rather nonsensical.

Pop Art and stanning of Tammi Terrell!
Public conspiracies of Aaliyah of how she was silenced (and deserved better!
Shirts and no-nonsense defense of Whitney Houston for being murdered (allegedly) by someone she thought she could trust!
Public stanning and no-nonsense defending of Lil’ Kim and slander towards ANYBODY who has ever disrespected her the way they have!
No public shaming and extreme coddling towards Maia Campbell, and investigation into what was done to her (cuz you know there was)!
Constant showering praise and dress up of everything Meagan Goode (also question her sex symbol status at a very young age 🌚)!
Understand that Azealia Banks is an internet (and real life) icon and one of the best celebrities to come out of the 2010s!
“Baby and praise Mary J. Blige because of all she overcame! Ignore her past bitchiness, because she was going THRU it!
Acknowledge Rihanna’s iconic bitchiness of the 2010s and her pretty doll persona during her music days! Laugh at her calling her sometimes boyfriend’s current half-Asian girlfriend and “rice cake” because racism is funny sometimes!
Every mean/problematic thing JT says is gospel and/or hilarious because she’s keepin’ it a buck!

Lil Captain Price headcanons..
because this man is living in my head rent-free..
-Price definitely listens to old-ish music, not because he's old, the man is only like 38 (maybe like 42, but still), but because it's what he grew having his parents play. Elvis Presley? Yessir, he listens to Devil In Disguise at least once a day, typically in the morning when he needs a pick-me-up while waiting for his morning tea to steep. It reminds him of his mum. Another one of his favorites, more from his own time but still considered older, is Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell.. I Second That Emotion by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles is also something on his morning playlist, and his workout playlist.
-Price definitely is the type of person to, if given the chance, adore having kids around. Definitely a family man in secret, really wants to settle down with someone and have a couple kids, but gave up on that after becoming a Captain for the 141 for two reasons. One, he's too busy to be there for anyone and too confidential to form bonds (trust me, he's tried when he was younger), so relationships have never worked out and he'd never have time to keep up with his kids if he had any. And two, he's too scared for their safety. If someone found out that Johnathan Price, Captain of Task Force 141, had kids..? It wouldn't go well for anyone. His family could he used to blackmail him or something, and he wasn't about to let that happen. Not over his dead body.
-Price definitely likes to dance, but with his injuries and sore muscles from the military he doesn't get to dance that much anymore.. Doesn't have the time, either. His Mum and Dad probably taught him dances from their days, like swing dances, but also had him enrolled in either a waltzing class or a salsa class when he was in secondary school.. Dancing classes definitely made him popular with the ladies at School dances, which leads me into my next headcanon-
-Price was definitely a ladies man when he was younger, before he got all grumpy because of the military. Had women fawning over him when he was younger, had a few people call him a "Lady stealer" because of how polite and romantic he was with everyone, was a huge flirt in his youth.. He still has it, lots of women nowadays love a rugged man like him, but he doesn't use his flirtin skills anymore. Most he'll give it a smile that flashed his teeth, that were definitely just ever-so-slightly stained from his excessive consumption of black teas, or a bit of a mildly suggestive comment if he thought the person was really pretty.. Or if he really wanted a discount at the shops. In his later years, he discovered that he doesn't really care what gender someone is as long as he thinks they're attractive and nice, he'll flirt with just about anyone if they're cute enough (or if he wants a discount bad enough).
-Price has a nice singing voice, but doesn't sing often. It's soft, definitely like the type of music he listens to, and will often mumble-sing along to songs he particularly likes whenever he hears them. Doesn't matter if he's in a public space or not, it just keeps him occupied and helps him focus a little better.
Because of that,
-Price definitely listens to music while doing paperwork. He'll be sat at his desk, filing a report on a mission, listening to Wichita Lineman by Glen Campbell or Please, Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes, or something along those lines. Mumbling along to the lyrics softly, sometimes getting a little carried away and ending up singing along just loud enough for someone outside to hear his voice muffled by the music from his speakers.
"And I need you more than want you.. And I want you for all time, and the Wichita lineman.. is still on the line~"

More headcanons! yahoo! (specifically icemav)
1. Ice drinks both coffee and tea, but actually prefers tea. He forced himself to drink coffee for the caffeine to help him stay awake and alert, so now he likes it because of how often he drinks it. (i don’t know that much about the military but i don’t know how many staff rooms are gonna have kettles next to their coffee machines and if military men are gonna openly admit to drinking tea lol)
2. I think a woman in his life, either his mom or grandmother, used to make him a cup of tea every night and it was a part of his nightly ritual. Whenever he gets the chance he tries to keep up that tradition and make himself a cup of tea whenever navy life allows.
3. Maybe I’m biased but i think Ice would drink any tea (as long as it’s good quality) but i think he would slightly prefer black teas. His mom or grandmother would always put honey and milk in it and he tended to drink green teas when he was sick so he associates them with an upset stomach, stuffy nose or a sleepless night. (or this could just be projecting onto fictional characters)
2. Mav on the other hand always hated tea. like hated it and he only ever drinks coffee. He never understood the appeal of it, if it’s not that caffeinated then what’s the point? And I think he probably only had tea like... made in the microwave, where someone puts the milk in first. No wonder he hates tea.
4. Mav hates tea until Ice makes him tea one night and makes him tea the right way. With an actual kettle and the milk added after the water and tea bags. And at first, Mav feels too bad to tell Ice the truth and say that he hates tea after he went through all the trouble to make him a cup. But Ice’s tea rocks Maverick’s world. he finishes the whole cup. Ice makes him a classic cup of english breakfast or earl grey with a little bit of honey and a dash of milk.
5. Mav will only drink tea when Ice makes it. It doesn’t matter if someone makes Mav the exact same brand of tea, with the same type of honey and milk, Mav only likes Ice’s tea.
6. I think after the DADT repeal it allowed them to actually finalize and re-establish the tradition that Ice’s family started. Ice makes them both a cup of tea each night while Mav puts on a record.
7. I feel it deep in my soul that Mav’s mom loved country music, like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton etc etc. Mav would never tell anyone willingly that he knows all the words to Stand By Your Man or the entirety of Dolly Parton’s album Just Because I’m a Woman. (he definitely thinks he should not be listening to them cuz its not “manly” or something)
8. But after the DADT repeal those are the records and artists Mav puts on as Ice makes the tea, just like Mav’s mom used to do when his dad was around. Mav used to watch his parents slow dance and sing along to Crazy by Patsy Cline. He just wants to share the thing his family used to do, just like Ice is doing as he makes them tea, regardless of how “unmanly” it may seem to himself and other men.
god im sick of these old men in love, they’re so stupid and controlled by gender stereotypes and expectations forced upon them. “Maverick is a rebel” my ass, bro can’t even listen to Dolly Parton without feeling guilty and ashamed. im SICK of them.

How my Inserts smell/what they're signature scents are [cuz they ain't all cherry actually!]
Tumblr media
Chrysta A. Campbell [The Lost Boys 1987]
-Cherry, Vanilla. A perfume she's had since the age if 14 that she will never give up or let go.
-Hairspray, nailpolish. Not strong, but a lingering scent of work hidden under the many layers and spritz of her perfume.
Tamsin A. Benson [TMNT universes. Specifically ROTTMNT]
-Pineapple, Oranges. A very tropical smell lingers on Tamsin, most defined in her hair, not exactly strong, but it's defiantly from her choice in shampoo and conditioner.
-Sweat, gasoline, mechanics. Given she spends a bit of time in Donnie's lab.
Tammy A. Sullberry [Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey]
-Lavender, lilacs, Mint. Tammy smells... Well, she's been told: Like an old lady. But she can't help that the lingering smell comes from her grandmother's constant hugging and hovering. That and she lives there.
-Dust, books. Tammy is a bookworm, and she also finds herself as a tutor now, so the smell of a local library or bookshop helps to hide the herbal tea smell that just seems to get stuck to every piece of clothing she owns.
Nancy A. Sullivan [Stand by Me]
-Strawberries, honey. Wether it be a natural scent that lingers on her from her summer days baking, or a little bit of perfume she dabs one the wrists while doing her morning routine.
-Daisy's, grass. Spending a lot of time chasing around Ace and his Cobras while hiding away near the riverbank can leave quite a bit of grass stains, braiding flowercrowns till dinner time with your secret lover fishing at your side. She smells like summer, a smell you can't really get rid of or ever forget.
Talaney-Anne Morris [Stranger Things]
-Apples, cinnamon. A body wash Talaney practically drowns herself in every shower she takes to scrub off all the cheer and farm work.
Hyacinth, straw, grass, sunscreen. The natural smell that lingers on Talaney-Anne behind all the perfumes, lotions, and body wash, a familiar smell of summer and her home back in Utah.

About Jack and Nana, which one of the two has an habit of singing when alone? And what's their favorite music genre? If they were to sing a solo song and/or a duet which ones would you set as examples?
Nana 100% is caught more often than Jack. They both sort of have the habit though. She can just be a bit more shy about it.
As for song genre, I see them leaning more towards RnB (especially the old school kind).
Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B, Never Knew I Needed by Ne-Yo and Cassandra Steen, I2I by Kevin Campbell, Take Me There by Black Street and Mya, and Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel are all good examples for some duets for them.
As for some solo songs, Weak and Right Here by SWV fit Nana and P.Y.T. by Micheal Jackson and Just Friends (Sunny) by Musiq Soulchild fit Jack.

Midterm
Fictober day 6, "I'm not giving up" with post-canon next gen Mad Men...
Tammy walked into the sorority lounge, and set her book down on the coffee table.
“Hey, want to study for the calculus midterm with me?” she asked.
“Drop day is coming up,” her sorority sisters replied. “I’m going to drop that class.”
“Well, I’m not giving up,” Tammy said. “It’s a requirement for the business major.”
“You should just be a dance major, really,” the girl laughed. “It’s not like you need money, anyway.”
“It’s not about the money,” Tammy insisted. “I’m not here to find a husband, either.”
“Is that how it is, then?”
“I’m going to ignore you.”

“So I walked into the room, and the moment she saw me, the freebirth took off running. She was fast.” A cruel grin creeps onto my face.
Captain Tammy Campbell shifts uncomfortably as she follows me through the station, the enjoyment draining from her face. “And then what?”
I drop the smile off my face, suddenly becoming cold and serious. “She was not fast enough.”
“Ah… Do you know where we're going?”
“Neg, we are looking for other members of the strike force.”

Not saying this on Twitter, because I fear people will take it the wrong way, but Hugh Jackman is one of many celebrities who has been “secretly gay” damn near my entire life, and I sort of don’t understand how this information came to me.
I of course have no clue if he is, as I don’t pay very much attention to his personal life and never have. I don’t even know when or where I heard about him and Ryan being best friends. It wasn’t too long ago though, so I may have read it on Twitter or something. That said, I did know he was married to a woman, because I’d heard him mention it, but being in a het relationship does not determine sexuality.
Point is! It’s interesting to me how many celebs have since come out yet were only in het relationships when I was young, yet still somehow the rumor mill was swirling. So I’m always wondering how, in the time before info spread as fast as it does now, did rumors like that grow?
Were they writing magazine articles about supposedly queer actors and musicians? Was that a thing? I know trash magazines may have, but wouldn’t the bigger names get sued? I mean seriously, I remember my grandmother some fifteen or twenty years ago saying she knew he was gay, because it’s rare for men as handsome and successful as he to marry older woman.
That was and still is obviously silly, but then I think about how I heard her talking about people like Queen Latifah, Rickey Martin, Tevin Campbell, Wayne Brady, and Jodie Foster to name a few whom are now out, and all the reasons she gave for why they were “obviously gay.” Then there are others like Whitney Houston, Richard Pryor, James Dean, and Luther Vandross who never came out yet had it “confirmed” by family or old friends after their deaths.
I’m really just talking, but “the grapevine” is such an interesting beast of a thing, because how did they know back then? Where did the rumors start and did it require word of mouth? Was it websites like LiveJournal or whatever else keeping things going? Or were people sat at a bar in 2002, eating wings and drinking beer, taking about how they overheard Tammy from work at the water cooler on Friday say the guy playing Wolverine was supposedly gay?
I don’t know. I think about random stuff like this all the time, but the Hugh Jackman convo recently passed along my timeline, and it got me wondering how it became a supposed “industry secret”.
