Hi! I would like to know your headcanons for post Mockingjay Everlark (and the toastbabies) please and thank you :)

OOH YAY LET’S SEE…I have quite a bunch of them scattered all over the place, so I probably won’t be able to list all of the ones I have. Ie, I’ll probably recall certain ones after posting this lmao. But I’ll try and list my main ones here…

-They’re in a relationship within a year after Peeta returns home. I like to think that Katniss and Peeta are very quick to share a bed/sleep together after he returns, because they desperately need each other’s comfort during the night. All that close proximity and bed-sharing of course, is quick to evolve into cuddling, which evolves into embracing, then kissing…And then of course, intimacy and “I love you’s” are soon to follow. Honestly? I even headcanon that they got into a relationship/were intimate and open with their love the same winter after Peeta got back. Like, he got back that Spring, and they were already together come Winter.

-Speaking of seasons, Winter and Spring are their favorites. Winter because the snow coats the entire district, erasing any bad memories away with a fresh blanket of white. It also leads to a lot of lazy, grey, snuggly mornings, hot chocolate, long nights by the fireplace, both sweet and passionate…And then of course they love Spring because of the abundance of life. Katniss loves seeing her favorite color spread slowly across the landscape. Peeta loves having new flowers and things to paint. They both love taking dewy, cool walks through the forest, or sitting out on the porch to watch the rain. And of course, dandelions are plentiful, which makes Katniss all the more relaxed/happy.

-And also, SPEAKING of “I love you’s/sex” lol, Katniss’ first “I love you” to Peeta happened somewhere around the “Real or not real” scene. Meaning, she either said it to him during, shortly after, or maybe the morning after. Peeta had offered a few “I love you’s” to her before that, but she was still a bit too shy to fully reciprocate them. She would kiss him or something instead to “say” it back, but never completely returned it until they tore down all the walls/were fully intimate with each other.

-Peeta never has a severe episode, ie one that threatens his safety or Katniss’, after he returns home to D12. I’ve messed with this headcanon through fanfiction admittedly lol, just for Some Angst, but ULTIMATELY I like to think that he never fully lost control of himself again. He’s either able to stop it, or only experiences flashbacks/nightmares. He never spirals back to how he was in D13.

-They stay in close contact with a lot of people, mainly Johanna, Annie, and of course Haymitch. Despite being busy/having other duties, I like to think that Katniss’ mother and Effie check in on the occasion. And, though it goes very much against my shipping character lol, I even like to think that Katniss comes around to becoming cordial with Gale again, to some degree. Like, maybe not completely forgiving him, but not all around hating him.

-Kind of an irrelevant headcanon lol, but going off of that, I like to think that Gale first comes to visit when Katniss is pregnant with her and Peeta’s first. Like, Gale is completely in the dark as to how she’s doin, and knocks on the door to have a very-pregnant Katniss answer, with Peeta standing protectively in the background lmao. Like, not a “Haha, suck it, Gale”….but also a very “HAHA, SUCK IT, GALE.” It makes him realize just how wonderful Peeta is for her, and how important Peeta is to her. Because, Peeta managed to breathe life and light completely back into her, something Gale failed to do. So he kind of accepts their relationship/closeness in that moment.

-Katniss is the one to ask Peeta to marry her. Though I can see Peeta asking her, I also headcanon Peeta taking things at Katniss’ pace. Meaning, yes, it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to ask her, but in not wanting to force things on her/rush her, I can totally see her beating him to it.

-Speaking of marriage, they never get “officially” married. They have a very intimate toasting ceremony, and start referring to each other as husband and wife thereafter. But they never have a public ceremony, nor do they allow the government to have any kind of business in something so important to them.

-Five, ten, fifteen years means three babies. Baby Girl came five years after the rebellion ended, Baby Boy came five years after that, and Baby Three came another five years after that. With that being said, Katniss was either very early into another pregnancy in the epilogue, or had about another year to go before her third was conceived.

-Katniss had mixed feelings towards her first pregnancy. She was terrified, mostly because she struggled to shake the idea of the Capitol returning to take her baby. But she was also very excited, as she was so happy to watch Peeta as a father, so happy to finally raise a child with him.

-Along those lines, birth was probably terrifying for her. Having her daughter was seamless, and nothing went wrong, but the pain and the presence of doctor, even it just being a midwife in the safety of their home, kind of sent her into an anxiety attack. Of course, finally delivering her daughter and actually getting to hold her, doused these anxieties immediately. She realized that she and Peeta would always be there to protect her. She realized that things were okay. She floated down back into her head, back into warmth, security, and love.

-I also headcanon that she decided to birth her son somewhere out of their bedroom, with only Peeta present (MAYBE having Hazelle or someone else there just in case). Like, in the woods, in the meadow, by the lake, etc. Somewhere remote, and somewhere where she felt completely in her element, not at all constrained or reminded of her past horrors. I headcanon this so hard that I wrote a fanfiction about it lmao sO I MEAAAANN…

-Weekly picnics in the meadow are Most Definitely A Thing. They all make a habit of taking at least one day and going to relax in the meadow as a family.

-I’ve always thought that the babies took after their respective parents for whatever reason, ie Baby Girl grows interested in hunting, while Baby Boy grows interested in baking. Which isn’t to say that Baby Girl doesn’t like painting, and Baby Boy doesn’t like archery, but the two of them have their little “Mini Katniss/Peeta” moments lol!

Hi, I just wanted to talk about the bisexual Peeta topic.

I’ve been really upset about the way the writer the other Anon mentioned has handled the whole situation. I agree with the other Anon that it seems this writer is speaking out saying we are homophobic if we disagree with her headcanon. It really turned me off to her even though previously I was a big fan. I had to unfollow and block her because she’s basically flooded my dash with everything the past few weeks. I don’t appreciate someone who knows nothing about me accusing me of something that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I’m best friends with several gay people and am a very open and loving person so to have such a thing basically accused over and over recently has been upsetting and polarizing because it is simply not true. I’m not a bad person or a bigot just for thinking Suzanne Collins wrote Peeta as straight, and I really don’t appreciate the implication.

I really am grateful to you for being open about your opinion on the subject because I’ve wanted to put something on my own blog but have been too afraid of backlash or being ostracized by the fandom. So thank you for not being afraid to speak your mind. I think there are many others who agree with you but are afraid to speak out.

My headcanon is CANON- Peeta is straight. I said what I said. Sorry not sorry. I’m not a homophobe for thinking this way. I’m interpreting Suzanne Collins’ work in the most literal sense. If she had written him as blatantly gay or bi I wouldn’t be saying any of this because facts are facts.

I have gay friends as well, and I've always defended them. I hate homophobia. So no one can say that I'm homophobic. It's unfair and doesn't make any sense.

I'm glad you're grateful that I'm open about my opinion on this matter, but you don't have to be afraid of expressing your own opinion. You have the right to, and you're being reasonable. People out there aren't afraid of expressing their nonsensical opinions, so why should you be afraid of expressing a reasonable opinion? Do not let the fear of being backlashed stop you from letting out your thoughts. I'm on tumblr since 2015. I've always been open about my opinions regarding Everlark and THG, and I've never been backlashed by the fandom. Some people were rude to me in a few moments, of course, but most people were kind to me. So don't be afraid. Just surround yourself with cool people and ignore the idiots along the way. 😊

My head canon is that Katniss brought Peeta just as much hope. She inspired him when she wouldn't give up and provided for her family. I think she moved him to decided who he was and what his worth wad despite what his mother said. I think, Katniss drove him to fight for things that were right, because of her example.

That’s so true though. Because like, he was in a terrible situation back at home. But I’m sure seeing her everyday brought some kind of light back into his life, even before they were interacting. Then of course, he fought so hard for her during the Games and the Rebellion, because he knew doing so would also be fighting for the future.

AND LIKE, despite his mother telling him that he was nothing, that he was worthless, he didn’t just give up right then and there. HE KEPT GOING??? BECAUSE OF KATNISS????? Katniss was the dandelion to HER dandelion.

Hello! Yeah no, the mORE TOASTBABIES THE MERRIER TBH lol! I totally agree that their second was planned, and that their third was very much a pleasant surprise. Their first however….fsjklajsla I’m a bit on the fence!

Because like, I like to think she wasn’t actively planned for, and was therefore quite the wonderful albeit nerve-inducing surprise lmao. But also…I tend to think that Katniss takes some kind of birth control, like a hormone shot of some sort that lasts for years. So in order for her to get pregnant, she’d have to actively stop receiving said shot, or have that 0.1% rate of failure kick into gear.

Idk anon idk…I can just picture her finally feeling at peace with herself and the world around her, and sitting down with Peeta to discuss things, to discuss stopping her birth control and seeing what happens from there. Or maybe not even discussing it; she might just slowly and silently wean herself off it, and end up pregnant a few months later, therefore making it a bit of surprise to her, and definitely a surprise to Peeta. WHACK lol.

And omfg….TWINS??

Wow. Talk about a surprise lol. I really wonder how Katniss would take that. I mean, she’d be well versed in child bearing by that point. She’d know what to expect from pregnancy, and would likely be very comfortable as a mother. But twins would definitely make for a different kind of pregnancy/experience. She’d probably be a little scared again, but idk; she’d probably be more salty than anything lol! Like, grumbling to Peeta that she feels way too big/that she can barely walk kind of thing.

I can definitely see her and Peeta still having so much love to give though, so twins would just mean double their warm paternal and maternal affection. I’M ABOUT IT TBH.

I have a headcanon that Katniss and Madge were the two most beautiful girls in the District and were the both unaware of the way attracted attention. I think Katniss thought she was plane looking but the Capitol made her realize it. I think Peeta appreciated her character and she was even more than her beauty.

Ooh, that’s an interesting one as well lol thank you! I’ve always felt the same way about Madge. Headcanoning Katniss that way though is…hmm! Because, I’m sure other boys would have had to be interested in her during school. I wonder how she reacted to that? Denial? Disgust lmao? She was probably uncomfortable with it, surely. Like “uh lol why this Go Away thanks can’t be bothered.”

And how about Peeta reacting to the attention she’d be getting, Lord. He probably simmered in his affections on the side, thinking that he didn’t even have a slight chance with her/she’d never notice him. If she was one of the prettiest girls, then other guys were probably after her, and Peeta probably felt “out of her league” at times.

I think Prim knew the risk that she might die, but she thought her sister was already dead.

oUCH that hurts so good honestly lmao. And it goes right along with Prim’s selfless personality like…Even with the thought of her sister being dead, who had practically been a sort of mother to her, she knew she had to continue helping people, helping the cause that her sister had made erupt into action.

And also like, I’m sure the thought of losing Katniss would also kick her into high-healing gear. She’d want to help others, and make sure not too many people suffered the same fate as her sister. She wouldn’t want to lose anyone else under her watch.

Anyone else headcanon Katniss as Bi?

It seems to be quite a common theme actually! I discussed this a while back with another anon actually lmao, and I got very much wishy-washy with how I view her sexuality. Because like, on the surface, she appears just flat out heterosexual. 

But then also, she’s only ever loved Peeta. And more importantly, she’s only ever experienced sexual attraction towards Peeta. 

“Jodi…that just means she likes guys lmao” nOT NECESSARILY BECAUSE…It’s not like she had numerous partners. It’s not like she was interested in multiple guys. She didn’t really exhibit any explicit attraction towards anyone, aside from Peeta. Which means, she was more attracted to his character. She fell in love with him, before she appreciated what was downstairs (lmao).

So, that kind of leaves her sexuality up in the air/up for interpretation imo.

Oooh let's stir up some controversy... I wanna kno how far people think Everlark would have gone on National TV on the beach if they had not been interrupted. Votes people. I want votes.

dAMN, ANON LOL. That actually brings up quite an interesting point as far as censorship goes like…The Capitol is out here broadcasting all these minors dying on National TV, sometimes getting brutally murdered at that. Ie the type of violence that would definitely warrant an R rating here in the States, if not an NC-17 rating because of the whole teenager angle.

Sensuality/sex/nudity though? It would be absolutely RIDICULOUS if they censored anything sexual, but let all the murdering/violence fly lmao. I mean, I could totally see them doing it though, since that kind of flip-flopped mentality actually exists in our movies/broadcasts today. Guns, explosions, blood, violence, whatever, all fine and dandy.

But if yOU SO DARE TO SHOW A VAGINA? PORNOGRAPHY. NC-17. DISHONOR ON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

…Tbh I’m torn, anon lmao. Because I can see them existing on both sides of the “ridiculous” spectrum. I could see them censoring them the minute sexual intentions were completely obvious, because…that just fits the stupid mentality of the Capitol lol. But then I can also see them broadcasting everything because that ALSO fits the mentality of the Capitol. Like, they don’t see them as teenagers; they only see them as entertainment. So if brutal, graphic violence isn’t out of the question, then neither is sex.

…Although, I’m sure either Katniss or Peeta would kind of snap to their senses and realize that oh hey, we’re on NATIONAL TV/OUT IN THE OPEN/RIGHT NEXT TO OTHER PEOPLE before getting too hot and heavy anyway. Which begs the question…how far would they have gone had Finnick not interrupted them anyway? Dry humping? Getting handsy?

*Edit* I thought they were in their wetsuits at this point, but I forgot their wetsuits had Tattered Af. So yeah, UNDERWEAR LMAO??? MIXED WITH HORN-DOGS???? A very interesting series of thoughts indeed, anon ajdakjsa

Week 18: Ch 25-27

Canon:

⚡ The symbols of Catching Fire. Pearl. Lightning. The bread. Let’s talk about the symbolism and the meta behind these significant items. We definitely have more to talk about here? 

⚡ Everlarked. There are some great overlooked Everlark quotes and moments in these last chapters. Let’s edit, create and post some of these that stand out to us.

⚡ The Victors. They are huge part of this story and we get to speculate about their lives in these last chapters. How did Johanna and Finnick become so close? Who knows about the Rebellion? Did they have a plan going into the Games about what they were going to do?

⚡ What ifs. The delicious feeling Katniss feels after the Beach Kiss night. Everlark happens and they are really together. So...what if? What if Peeta hadn’t been captured? Post your fanfic, your thoughts and your headcanons about what would happen in the time they get captured to when they make it to D13.

⚡ See you at midnight. Ugh. I love and hate that phrase. Let’s blog the midnight kiss. Fill up our dashes with that beautiful kiss.

⚡ The last look. In the books, Peeta searches for Katniss and she hears him yelling her name repeatedly. In the movies, the people say, “That’s the last time we see Peeta as himself” or “normal Peeta.” What do you think about these statements? Do you feel like it’s an accurate way to depict this moment.
