another mortal kombat OC 🤯🤯🤯
once again, based off a pre-existing OC (who i've yet to post about, but will do so in the future).
Meet Ines Huamani, renown fighter/ philanthropist from Peru and one of the defenders of Earthrealm. Still working on her involvement in the overall story but more info about her can be found below the cut!

[Mini update!] Ines was born in the bustling city of Cusco, Peru. However, at a young age she was abandoned by her birth parents for unknown reasons at a nearby bus stop.
Some time later, she found herself raised in one of the towns near the Andes mountains (still TBD), taken in by a kind couple and found true community and a family that cherished her.
She has always been a girl of many talents: athleticism, dancing, and yes, fighting as well. Part of the reason is her general zest for life but also she's learned that having talent is what makes her special and adored by people; thus she always works hard to hone her skills.
Because of the kind people that brought her in, she was taught to be generous and give back to those in need. Much of her earnings goes back to her hometown, especially to the children to pay for education, medical bills, toys, etc.
No powers, but is incredibly strong both from training from a young age and her love of all kinds of sports growing up which has built up her stamina.
Her fighting style consists of variations of wrestling and mixed martial arts. Her speciality is hand to hand combat and prefers not to use weapons when possible. She is both tall and strong in her build but is not as speedy as some of the other agile fighters in the MK universe.
Her outfit is based loosely on what I've seen women wear during Takanakuy (video found here). I implemented a dark magenta/ red color and white for the national colors of Peru. The flower in her hair is an orchid, one of many flora life that can be found in her home country.
[OOC: I'm not Peruvian myself, so some updates might be made later on]
Some lightning fun facts:
Favorite animal: Dogs (specifically, large dog breeds).
Favorite color: Mocha brown (pink and daffodil yellow are up there too).
Favorite food: Ají de Gallina (shredded chicken in creamy, spicy sauce with rice and boiled potatoes). [OOC: I've only tried this once before but it was really good, give it a try if you haven't-]
Favorite hobbies: Playing volleyball, hiking, trying on clothes (not necessarily shopping but the dress-up aspect of it), collecting cute things, traveling.
Character Inspo for Ines: Usagi from Sailor Moon, Misa Amane from Death Note, Goku from Dragon Ball, Mitsuri from Demon Slayer (basically characters with a lively and noble heart).

I gotta figure out the fighting styles for my Fucked at Five crew. Here's what I have so far. Ian and Elliot's definitely have a chance of changing. These mostly apply to their human and partially morphed forms.
I already know Saz is more of a grappler and up close kind of fighter. She'll tackle, she'll pin, she'll keep you in a hold, she'll throw you. She's got a background in wrestling. I really think bro would benefit from some Judo training. Saz can throw jabs but she doesn't really kick. If she did kick it would be a low kick. Something to try to knock you off balance, or just weaken your stamina in general.
Julie is a really aggressive fighter hence a lot of her attacks are really direct palm strikes. She has fucked up her hands throwing close-fisted punches and really tries not to do so (which is some reasoning to why fighters hands are wrapped or in gloves if you rely on close fisted punching). I feel like I need to incorporate her legs more. And her morpher trait is why I'm saying this. It needs to be difficult to keep a grasp on her. Will do whatever it takes to win. She'll claw before she bites but that doesn't mean she won't bite.
Ian I'm thinking more boxer. He'll at least wrap his hands wrapped before most fights. He's tall he's built and I think he'd have great reach. Can use weapons. Has used weapons. Doesn't like to use weapons. Arguably also an aggressive fighter. He's strikes feel persistent, he's throwing punches even if they don't land. But they're all powerful. Some taunting used. But considerably less stamina than Saz. I'm gonna look into a martial art called Dambe. I think that'll fit pretty well actually. Also I saw something about Takanakuy and it looks cool. Casually sliding that over as a potential fighting style match too.
Elliot I'd think is really a mix. He can and will use weapons, usually his antlers if they haven't broken off (Lol or if they have and he has access to them). He will aim for weak spots and focus on them. Can be a bit of a trickster (will attempt to anyway) anything to break your focus. I'd argue he actually is more of a kicker than a puncher. Arguably he's the weakest of the four of them so his jabs would typically use his elbows as opposed to his hands. Yes he has hurt himself doing this. No he will not stop. He'd bite without a hesitation.
#writeblr#just some thinking#Think I'll be doing some more up close fighting studies#<- doesn't bother me I love a good fight scene#I think I need to go back to my staring at mma and ufc days#But the last fight thing I posted “Julie kicks Saz's Ass” actually came out really well#And I completely was winging the fight style for Julie I just knew I wanted her to be a fast thinker#and a powerful hitter that hits with a purpose#She's typically not throwing out wild hits#Ah shit I'm geeking out in the tags my bad

Pujllay!

Merry XMass from your Messiah

The first text ever sent was Merry Christmas.

Every Dec 25th, a town in Peru celebrates "Takanakuy" where men, women and children settle grudges from the past year by calling each other out and having a fist fight. Then everybody goes drinking to numb the pain and move on to a new year.
"Takanakuy" is a high Andes ritual, as much a conflict resolution strategy as a cultural tradition. Each year, community members are selected as cargudos, responsible for organizing a series of dances, parades and ceremonies connected to Takanakuy. The festivities include a procession to honor baby Jesus of Nazareth.

It's been a really tough year, full of war, grief and disaster. But that's not the only story...
Did you know it's also been the best year ever for global health, conservation and clean energy and one of the best ever for economic and social justice?

Christmas traditions around the world, from fistfights to KFC : NPR
In this Dec. 25, 2015, photo, Karen Quispe prepares to fight another woman for sport at the Takanakuy ritual fighting event on the outskirts of Lima, Peru. Taking part in the fights is voluntary, and no one is obligated to accept a challenge. But by refusing to participate, the challenged party automatically acknowledges the superiority of their rival.

Takanakuy: A Peruvian Christmas tradition of fist fighting with family & friends. #Takanakuy is a centuries old, annual established practice of fighting fellow community members held on 25 December, by the inhabitants of Chumbivilcas Province, near Cuzco in Peru. Don't think this tradition is only for the men. Women and children participate as well, often while hundreds of spectators watch. Just because the practice may seem a little barbaric, it doesn't mean it's NHB. There are rules: - No biting or kicking a grounded opponent. - There is always a referee figure equipped with a whip to keep things on the up and up, but hey, it's a colorful whip, so if you're on the receiving end of some lashings, at least your eyes will be treated to some color. - Local police are on standby in case things get out of hand. Despite the violent nature of the celebration, it is considered a joyous festival, with music, dance and not surprisingly, lots of alcoholic beverages. There is even a uniform of sorts, traditional belts with colorful ski masks and sometimes, stuffed animals worn as hats. @21savage they still throwing hand in #peru #everythangculture https://www.instagram.com/p/CmnLOuhJEdL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
