Round 2: Electric boogaloo original title edition.
@taiyuu-high-oct @sapphireknight30 @snoopdoggkun
The second round was about to begin, students starting to make their way through the faux-city Taiyuu raised. A student whose height was only second to their home room teacher’s, manages to stop a much shorter girl from the opposing class
Vai lets out a squeak as she is caught off guard, her eyes land on the hand gripping her shoulder, gaze slowly crawling up the arm to her round one opponent, Ozen
“O-oh h-hey Ozen, w-what’s up?” Vai squawks
Ozen stares down at the shorter girl, the same girl nicknamed “Bondage-san” by her class; the compromising position they put Ozen in securing them both victory and the nickname pops briefly into her head. Ozen manages to shake it away, returning to the moment at hand. “You better win” she states, letting go of the girl’s shoulder.
Vai just sputters, face growing flushed as she tries to get out a coherent response, one Ozen decided not to stay for, continuing past the smaller girl. A sharp inhale, followed by “I’ll do my best” has Ozen smirking to herself, soon after passing into the city.
After being directed by her teacher appointed earpiece, Ozen finds herself dawdling at her starting position. As she waited for other students to find their positions, she took note of her urban surroundings, the dotted lights denoting her area, of particular interest to her.
She doesn’t have to wait long, the crackle of her earpiece was followed by confirmation of everyone’s position. Ozen readied her body, just like she was used to from all those years she spent in track. Soon enough a “start!” is released through her earpiece and she bursts into a sprint.
“This city is certainly large” Ozen thought, easily keeping to her initial speed, her body void of any heavy breathing, and miraculously enough sweat despite the brutal pace she set.
-------------------------------------------------------
Bringing the water bottle to her lips Ozen manages a couple sips as she exits the changing room, slinging her bag over her shoulder. “Kyaa!! Ozen-Senpai!” greets her as she doesn’t make it far before she is crowded by the usual group of second year girls.
“You were so great out there!” one of them says. “Yeah! You didn’t even break a sweat out there!” another one says. “I wish I was as athletic as you! You make track look so easy!” a third says, or was it the first girl? Ozen didn’t particularly care enough to pay attention to their faces, this was hardly the first time something like this has happened.
Today though Ozen doesn’t have time to dawdle and starts to make their way through the small crowd. “Thanks, I do have a doctor’s appointment to get to-“ is all Ozen has to say before the crowd parts before her like Moses and the red sea.
A chorus of “Good luck senpai!”’s ring out from the crowd. “That doctors appointment is a waste of time, Ozen-senpai has to be the healthiest student at our school” is the last conversation she is able to make out before rounding the corner. -------------------------------------------------------
The ringing in her ears was deafening but slowly it subsided and Ozen began to lift her gaze from the floor, eventually resting on the shouting form of her Mom. “What do you mean she’s the ‘unhealthiest person still standing you’ve ever seen?!’ my daughter is the captain of her school’s track team! Get your shit straight!” her mother fumes.
“Fujinuma-San, I’m saying that your daughter’s muscles are reminiscent of a bed ridden coma patient” the doctor in front of them responds bluntly, drawing their attention to the results they pin up. “Your daughter’s ‘stamina’ is just her quirk negating physical stress on her body.” -------------------------------------------------------
Ozen skids to a halt, catching sight of an alleyway, more importantly the fire escape within. Not one to miss a beat she starts off again, running into the alleyway jumping and easily reaching the ladder with her height bolstering her.
Ozen ascends the steep emergency staircase like it was nothing, and really it might as well have been. She shakes those memories from her mind refocusing on the match.
Her newfound height provides her a tactical view of her area, quickly she scans the urban environment around her, constructing a mental map before directing herself to where she believed the center to be.
Having wasted enough time Ozen starts off into another sprint, not hesitating to vault off the edge, feet landing firmly on the adjacent building. She keeps her pace, building from building and while not the most direct approach to the center, she would rather have the visual advantage. Yet Ozen still furrows her brow, hoping she didn’t lose too much time.
-------------------------------------------------------
“Wow, tall girl must have gotten lost, guess street smarts isn’t her thing.” Kutou states to the crowd of only herself. Looking around the courtyard she makes her way down the steps of the raised dais, orb in hand.
Kutou can clearly hear battles kicking off in the distance and yet there is no sight of her opponent, even on the stupid radio bunny girl made her be a part of. Being on edge she starts to exit the way she came, approaching the underpass connecting two buildings lining the alleyway. However, she doesn’t make it far before a blue blur crashes down in front of her. -------------------------------------------------------
Ozen slams down in front of her opponent, still crouched she wastes no time grabbing at kutou’s ankles, violently jerking them up and flipping them into trash can behind her. Kutou only manages a surprised “Kya!” as her body uncomfortably crumples into the trash receptacle.
Ozen manages to catch the orb midair, leaving her opponent behind as she runs back into the courtyard, having already seen this area from above she knows where to go and turns the corner exiting the alleyway, heading for the smaller one across the way. Aggravated yelling sounds off behind her as she enters the alleyway that exits to her street, managing to turn the left corner just in time to miss the chunk of trash can rocketing out of it.
Making her way down the main street connecting to her goal she catches sight of a spotted boy staring straight at her, peculiarly hand to their ear. Ozen isn’t able to give it much though before a loud ear grating crunching noises throughout the street and despite her better judgment turns towards the source, a large chunk of Building careening towards her, colliding with her in a thunderous-- -------------------------------------------------------
-Ping- Usually kids her age would have having rocks thrown at them but Ozen just lets out a beaming smile. “Wow Ozzie-chan! Your quirk is so cool!” her friend, who were they again? H̵̨̛͢҉a̴̡͢͝n̶̴á̡́͞? Said to her. “Do you know how much it can take?” the excited H̵̨̛͢҉a̴̡͢͝n̶̴á̡́͞ lets out. “N-no, not yet.” Ozen replies with a nervous scratch to the back of her neck. “ H̵̨̛͢҉a̴̡͢͝n̶̴á̡́͞! Ozen! Come on! You two are the only ones not on the bus!” their teacher calls out to them. H̵̨̛͢҉a̴̡͢͝n̶̴á̡́͞ eagerly grabs their friend’s hand and they quickly make their way to the school bus, they don’t want to miss out on the heroic history museum, today is going to be a good day, they can already tell. -------------------------------------------------------
-CRACK- goes the boulder of debris, having slammed into Ozen full force, she never yields even an inch of ground causing the boulder split two, continuing past to crash violently into the building behind her.
Ozen lets out an unimpressed “hmmph” at the realization that her opponent must know her quirk already, if she were to try such a stunt. She is unable to continue this thought however, the grinding and twisting of metal blare behind her. Ozen turns around in time to bear witness to the destruction the boulder has wrought. The fake storefront was thoroughly caved in. She manages to catch sight of someone fleeing the top levels before her attention is ripped back to the building buckling under its own weight. Her eyes widen as the building plummets towards her, taking a deep breath as if by instinct she drops the orb and braces for impact. She has to hold it up she has to she can’t drop it- ------------------------------------------------------- “Please don’t drop it Ozen!” and for those moments she is there again, The Museum of Heroic history, dust coating her lungs, crying, so much crying around her, her class huddled around her, the only thing separating them from the roof crashing down and crushing them all; pleading, begging her to not falter. There she stood, surrounded by sobs and pleas, in the exact same spot for what she would later would learn to be hours but it felt like an eternity to her. She never left that spot did she? She’s the only one left, no one came for them, this is her tomb and she’s never getting out
-------------------------------------------------------
Ozen doesn’t even realize when the building finally topples over her, only being brought out of her nightmare by a low whistle. Looking around frantically she finds she isn’t back in that museum and there appears to be a way out, her gaze following the slope up to the mouth of the debris cave, the same location her opponent now stood.
“You seem a little stuck” Kutou lets outs sarcastically, chuckling to herself she starts carefully making her way down to the taller girl.
“I can drop this whenever I want” Ozen retorts with a narrow of her eyes.
“Yeah but you won’t, not with me in here, you wouldn’t risk it.” Kutou responds, mockingly patting Ozen’s cheek for emphasis.
Kutou picks up the orb by her opponents feet, being intact but looking quite worse the wear. Ozen just grits her teeth in frustration as her opponent makes her way back up and out. Kutou stops at the entrance however, having decided to rub her victory in one last time she turns to back to Ozen, spinning the orb on her finger with ease.
“Well, looks li-kyaa!” is all kutou manages to get out before something or someone interrupts her, causing them to topple backwards outside.
Ozen is surprised by the display, waiting patiently in her alcove, wondering to herself what just occurred. After what seems like forever a face pops its way into view, however the bright light of the entrance blinds Ozen from distinguishing any features. “Yo Ozen, you down there?” Is what she hears from the figure and with that, recognition quickly clicks in her mind.
“Popi? Is that you?” she asks rhetorically, she knows it’s her. “Yeah, cotton candy is here too,”
Ozen blinks at the descriptor. “Takakutou?” she has to ask, “yeah, whatever” her friend replies almost bored.
“Mind moving them so I can get out without hurting them?” her inquiry is met with the sight of Popi checking for dirt under her nails.
“I do… but fine, for you, give me a minute.” Popi manages to say before popping out of sight.
Ozen gives it two minutes just in case, after which she starts making her way up and out of the debris cave, having to bend her arms awkwardly to accommodate the ceiling. Slowly but surely the building collapses behind her, culminating in a final grand cave in as Ozen squeezes herself out.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air she catches sight of her best friend, looking bored down at the bottom of the mountain of debris, a twitching Takakutou lying thankfully safe by her feet.
Ozen makes her way down the slope and is met with Popi handing over a pretty banged up orb, Her orb. Ozen graciously accepts it from her and holds it under her arm. “Thank you for the help” Ozen says, hoisting kutou up into a more comfortable sitting position, an angry glare from her opponent is all she got in response, unless you count twitching limbs and talking in tongues, which frankly Ozen didn’t.
“Yeah well, that building stunt distracted Manspell enough for me to get a hit on her, so we’re even.” Popi emphasizes with a nod to the orb under her arm.
Ozen doesn’t believe that’s the only reason but she leaves it for another time. They part ways soon after, Ozen keeping her guard up after being told by her friend that “1-A has been communicating with radios.” Her thoughts going straight to the boy she saw earlier.
Despite radio communication Ozen doesn’t come into contact with anyone else, quietly making her way through her goal and securing victory

Taiyuu Round 1
Perhaps this isn’t a good idea.
And by that, Lana means it’s an awful one. Terrible. Bad, bad, bad idea. Spars on the first day of school? An invitation for disaster.
But, this is a new hero school and it did offer the highest scholarship, so Lana’s content to keep her opinions to herself.
After a short-lived introduction of the 1-B homeroom teacher, the classes are ushered outside to a large dirt field with a white ring. Each class is separated on either side and are paired off for the ill-fated spar. But maybe she’s being hasty; there’s a chance this will go well.
It does not go well.
Granted, it’s a nice day for things to go wrong. The sky is clear and it’s a nice temperature for late April with a thready breeze to keep everyone just enough on their toes to not get too comfortable. The ground is no longer hard from the winter’s cold, but it’s not warm and muddy from the spring rains. If she had to choose a day for things to go poorly, this would be it.
Tokachi and her lanky opponent are the first ones to go. They enter the ring, ready to spar. It’s a bad lineup for the stringy boy, but the fight is over quickly.
As Tokachi’s round ends, a body goes flying towards the stands. Lana leaps at the tall form, planting a hand on the back and teleporting them to the ground. She pants. “Too klose.” “Sorry!” Tokachi hurries over to help the string bean boy up. “Are you okay?”
He blinks owlishly before nodding once. “Fine.”
Wolfsboon and the 1-A teacher come over, hovering over the string bean. “Are you hurt?” the 1-A teacher asks him. “I’m fine.” Wolfsboon huffs. “Then get back to the stands. We need to keep moving.” With that, he spins on his heel and stalks back to his post.
The 1-A teacher sighs and glances back at the match-ups. “The next round is Takakutou Shakou vs Ogura Sv...vb...t....”
She suppresses a sigh at the butchering of her name. “Just Lana.”
The 1-A teacher smiles apologetically and points her toward the field. Win, Tokachi signs.
I will, Lana replies.
Lana lines up with...with....she forgot her name. “Takakutou Shakou, 1-A versus Ogura Lana, 1-B.”
Takakutou. Right. She should remember that.
“Go!”
Lana ducks under Takakutou’s first swing and twists mid-air to swipe at the girl. Takakutou dodges the attack, stopping hard enough to kick up dust. She bares her teeth and sinks into a low stance.
Takakutou doesn’t have any obvious hints to her quirk. Lana doesn’t want to get too close until she knows what she’s dealing with. She ducks another hit, closer this time. Takakutou does a sudden pivot and draws a circle in the dust. She slams her palm into it and it explodes.
Lana hops back-not too close to the edge of the ring-and shields her eyes.
Mistake 1: Don’t take your eyes off your opponent.
She quickly corrects the error, but when Lana looks up, Takakutou is already coming at her, marker(?) at the ready.
Lana teleports behind Takakutou.
Don’t let her touch you.
Takakutou spins around and brings a leg to Lana’s stomach. She leans back to avoid the blow, narrowly missing the punch that quickly follows.
“Fucking gargoyle-!” Takakutou rights herself and dodges a kick to her chest, falling into the dust. Very original. Gargoyle.
Lana suppresses the second sigh of today and prepares to redirect another attack.
Suddenly, Takakutou stops, sneering.
The ring explodes in dust and dirt.
I need a better view.
Lana disappears and pops back in well above the ground. Amidst the cloud of dust, she can make out two blue pigtails.
Found you.
Gravity takes over and the whole world tips as the ground gets closer, wind screaming in her ears, mixing with a few cries of her own classmates. Teachers move to stop her from splattering against the field.
She ignores them, shifts her falling position and counts down.

Now
Feet before the ground, Lana vanishes, dispelling the dust cloud.
She appears over Takakutou’s back and grabs her shoulders. As Lana’s sneakers hit the ground, she braces herself and pulls Takakutou over over her head, releasing at the last second.
Takakutou goes flying out of bounds.
“Ogura Sv...bt...Lana! Ogura Lana wins!”
Lana walks to the edge of the ring, offering Takakutou a hand. The girl glares at her before getting up herself, stalking back to her group.
She shrugs it off and does the same. “Nice, Ogura-chan!” Kottoba breaks from the class and slaps her on the back. “1-B!” She whoops. Some of the bolder students join her, while the loud students in 1-A throw back cheers for their own homeroom.
Wolfsboon then barks for them to shut up and they move to the next spar.
Takakutou shoots her glares from the other end of the field.
This is going to be a long year.
But, it may prove interesting.
Well. There’s only one way to find out.

Round 2~Nanako Yuu vs. Senshi Yasashii!
@taiyuu-high-oct
Her family was expecting good results from Yuu at the hero school, no matter how good she was, her father and sister would keep having higher expectations, especially her father, his expectations were a bit too high, at least her sister wasn’t as stern as him. Yuu was very grateful that her mother’s only expectations was that she was passing all tests and doing well, instead of expecting Yuu to be perfect. Well, she had to satisfy the rest of her family too, she needed to win every exercise. She knew she couldn’t do that, but she’d try.
Gladly, Yuu was confident this round. She had to find and grab an orb in the middle of a field that looked like a city, and pass the limits holding it. She needed speed and a clear view of the place. She had that covered, for sure! Not only she could fly, but she could do it fast. She was going to compete with Senshi Yasashii for the orb, their field was overlapping with Takakutou Shakou on Yuu’s side and Fujinuma Ozen on Senshi’s. It was Yuu’s chance to prove she was worthy! She got this! Yuu knew her opponent was quirkless, but she also knew she shouldn’t underestimate them.
Currently, she was getting ready to fly as soon as everything began. Then it was announced the start of the round. Yuu immediately set flight as fast as she could and went up very high. Then, she started flying towards the middle of the field, as the students knew it was in the area. First, she started searching at the top of rooftops; it didn’t take much time as that was the easiest part to see. Then, she settled for searching the ground, still flying to get a better view, and she was faster that way.
It took some time, but she decided it was inside a building. She was going to try and look through the windows instead of entering each building first, until she saw Senshi jumping through rooftops and looking through windows. She had to be faster, win this, Yuu. So Nanako decided to ignore them and keep looking, as they weren’t giving her trouble yet. She wasn’t going to attack them without a reason, she couldn’t possibly try to hurt someone because she simply saw them. So the butterfly continued her flying, moving her head to look at windows on both her sides, though she had to move along with her head, as the buildings weren’t that close. The downs of the possibility of having orbs inside buildings was the fact that she had to check every window of every apartment of every floor.
Then, she spotted Yasashii on a rooftop again, they noticed her and started going faster, they were running in their goal’s direction… To make sure Senshi was doing what she thought they were doing, she decided to, flying in their direction, search for any signs of the orb. They were running as fast as they could, but Yuu wasn’t too far behind. Then, she saw it. There was something on their pocket that wasn’t there before, something big enough to be the orb. ‘Alright, this time you have a reason, it’s okay.’ She thought before speeding up and tackling the opponent. They rolled and almost fell off the building, but Yuu, holding on to them flew back to the middle of the rooftop they almost fell from.
Senshi looked a little nervous, they were probably trying not to be seen, well, now she has to get the orb and- they were running again. It seems they didn’t notice that when Yuu tackled them, the orb fell from their pocket right before they almost fell, and it was the orb’s turn to fall, only to be caught by Yuu when it had just started falling. ‘Huh, lucky me I guess.’ Then, she started fastly flying towards her goal.
---------------------------------------------------------
Senshi noticed she hadn’t chased after them and looked back, only to see Yuu flying in the opposite direction while holding something. Then, they checked their pocket. ‘Oh no.’ And started heading in her direction, she was too fast when flying, but they shouldn’t lose hope.
---------------------------------------------------------
Almost there! Yuu decided to quickly look around, and noticed Takakutou running and looking very pissed. ‘Maybe she needs help? No, she has the radio, she can just ask for it.’ Realizing Yuu had stopped flying when she started to look at the girl, she quickly looked back only to see Senshi almost catching up. So she went back to flying, fast, get to the goal and win this. She could feel them right behind her, they took hold of one of her hands- too late. She was exactly where she needed to be to end all of this. “Eeeeeee I won!” She exclaimed. “Oh, but you were super good too!” She decided to add. She got a ‘thanks, you were very good too!’ or something like that as a reply, she was a little excited so she didn’t pay too much attention.
A teacher came to tell them the round had ended. Well, at least for these two.

“Key Lime, Reporting in.”
“B - bondage-san, reporting in.”
“This is Takakutou--”
“I’m sorry, who?”
“Now You See Me Now You Don’t is right, we have to use the code names!!”
There was a silence on the other end, followed by a heavy sigh.
“...Holey Cow, reporting in.”
-----------------------
A week before, Ameko had been sitting in homeroom with the rest of 1A. It was a little energetic in the classroom, which had intimidated Ameko at first, but the careful excitement of 1A was quickly starting to grow on her. She appreciated the way that Lyrie-chan had a habit of lowering her volume when it got too loud for Ameko, and how it was becoming second nature for the person closest to Hiyasu-chan to put their arm around her when she seemed too cold.
Ameko leaned against Lyrie-chan as the class chatted, feeling the warmth of her part-horse body taking over the coolness of Hiyasu-chan beside her.
“Hey, guys!”
Ameko’s voice carried over the others, and they all looked over at her, finishing up conversations and turning over in their spots; in a chair, or sitting on a desk, or enjoying the giant cuddle-pile that had collected around Ameko.
“What’s up, Tokachi-kun?”
Inoue-chan raised an eyebrow and rested his chin on his hand. Ameko straightened in her spot, letting her hands flitt around her as she spoke.
“We should have a secret comuni-ni-nation device!” Ameko declared. Inoue-chan paused for a second, before clarifying in a smooth, calm voice, “Communication device?”
“Yes! That!”
“How would we even do something like that?” Takakutou-chan snorted, rolling her eyes. It was, of course, to be expected of the grumpy girl who never seemed to care much for being a team player. The entire class gave each other a knowing, amused glance.
“Like - like a walkie-talkie or something!” Ameko continued, “For when we’re doing training stuff.”
“That’s actually not a bad idea.” Inoue-chan mused. “If we had the knowledge to do something like that, anyway.”
“We probably could,” Spoke up a boy in the back. He was a transfer student, and had arrived that day in the train station alongside another late arrival, Otsuka-chan.
“We can?” Ameko lit up.
“Yeah. I could make some headsets and connect the transmission to some AM radio waves; if we all hit the same channel, we can talk to each other. They won’t hit a terribly long distance, and anyone with another radio can listen in, but they’ll work.”
Ameko hopped up, her hair bouncing with her and a grin on her face. “You’re so super smart! Haaah, what’s your name again?”
“Funkee, Zeke.”
Ameko blinked a few times.
“Fu… foon-kee…?” She scrunched up her nose.
“You can call me Zeke, if it’s easier for you.”
Ameko blushed, shaking her head. “That’d be really embarrassing. I could--” Her voice lowered, “--do you mind being called Kisai-kun?”
“Talented? Why?”
“Because - because you’re making the radios!” Ameko bounced on her heels, feeling her quirk threatening to burst. “And if we have radios, we gotta have codenames!”
There was a bubbling excitement in the class as they all huddled together, paper in hand…
-----------------------
Fast forward to a week later, and their first hero lesson had started. Ameko quickly learned her field was connected to Inoue-chan, Gigi-san, Takakutou-chan, and the newest transfer, Sugiyama-chan. She had caught her just before they split up, handing her a headset and collecting a code name.
She stood on the edge of a dilapidated city, looking at the aged buildings and the almost peaceful atmosphere. It would have been just Ameko, if her ears couldn’t pick up the faint chatter of her classmates. The overhead speaker boomed an excited set of instructions from Kyokkou-sensei, interrupted every so often by a mildly-irritated Kuzu-sensei.
“Ready!”
Ameko crouched down, letting her foot skid slightly on the ground, gripping the concrete under her.
“Set!”
Her hand brushed the dust-covered surface. Breath in. Breath out.
“Go!”
The dust stirred as Ameko took off, and the familiar feeling of jumping high, so high, gave her a quick rush of excitement. When she was hopping, it almost felt like flying. Ameko felt like she was making good progress when --
“Shit!”
Ameko skidded to a stop when she saw one of her other classmates, Gigi-san, sprinting towards the goal. Behind them, an empty trash can that had sprout legs -- their quirk, Ameko knew -- was running along at a frankly impressive pace. A glob of lava flung out at the trash can, melting it and leaving the orb rolling away.
Right at Ameko.
“Bondage-san--” Ameko blushed as she spoke into the headset. “--how fast can you run?”
“Pretty fast,” They replied, “Why?”
“I can kick the ball towards the goal, but you gotta catch it before it goes over.”
“I have an idea.” Gigi-san sprinted towards the sidewalk, finding a bench and touching it. Their quirk made it come to life, and like an animal, pranced anxiously as Gigi-san climbed on. “Go.”
Ameko kicked the ball, and Gigi-san hurtled after it, their opponent struggling to catch up. Without much hesitation, Ameko kept hopping towards her goal, and after a few minutes the radio crackled to life with a relieved, “Thanks, Hop To It.”
Ameko spotted the shining from a window a few buildings ahead, and slowed down, slipping into the doorway with quiet focus. The building was run down, but maybe not as much as some of the others, because it was clearly sturdy. Dust coated the floor in a very thin layer, and the air had a heaviness that made Ameko’s breath hitch the wrong way. There were a lot of floors; Ameko figured at least five. With the winding rooms and nooks and crannies, it felt like hours (although in actuality, she had only been searching maybe five minutes) as she shifted boxes and climbed staircases.
She tried to listen for her opponent, but she heard nothing.
Although it would be lying to say that Ameko knew all of the kids in 1B well -- She had classes with them, but besides the people that she had gotten close with, she was much more focused with the familiar, family-like feeling of her own class. But Ameko had run into quite a few, and she could recognize a lot of them.
Ameko had known Seisei-chan since the exam, and she had a pretty solid grasp on his quirk. She had gotten used to the way that he popped out of existence when he was startled, the way his heartbeat was a bit too slow whenever she went in to hug him. She knew that Seisei-chan was slow; maybe not to the average person, but definitely to someone who’s quirk was good with speed.
Ameko really liked Seisei-chan. Some might even say that she loved him; that, of course, would depend on whether you believed love could even be accomplished after two weeks of school. But Ameko was also here for a reason. She was here to grow, to be a good hero, and Seisei-chan was too.
If she didn’t try her best, even though she liked him, then she wasn’t being nice to either of them.
“Hop To It, this is Now You See Me Now You Don’t, reporting in.”
“What’s up?” Ameko whispered, opening one of the doors and poking her head in.
“You’re fighting the purple ghost kid, right?”
“Yeah?” Nothing. Close the door, rush down the hallway, look in another door.
“He’s running towards the goal with the orb.”
Ameko stopped. For a split second, she’s confused. She would have definitely heard someone come in; footsteps, breathing, little huffs and puffs and bumping around that, although not much, was enough for someone with sensitive ears.
Unless, of course, he was invisible. And he couldn’t be touched -- or touch the things around him.
Ameko cursed a soft, “Sweets and sugar,” as she opened the window and launched herself out. “Where?”
“I’m bad with directions,” Sugiyama-chan admitted on the other end. After a beat of silence, Yukino-chan piped up, “You’re looking for Seishin-kun, right, Hop To It?”
“Yeah, I am.”
“He’s nearby!” Yukino-chan assured. “Go three blocks East and two South, and he’ll be there.”
This was, of course, something that the class had considered before the match; because of Yukino-chan’s quirk being like a person detector, she could easily direct people towards any targets. In preparation, they had all made sure to have compasses on hand. Ameko had to thank Tokei-kun for that idea.
“Thanks a ton!” Ameko called out, and started sprinting in the direction.
Seisei-chan was floating, fast but not as fast as Ameko. He saw her coming, and when she went to tackle him, he floated up and out of her grasp.
Ameko rolled on the ground and popped back up, her feet skidding on the ground. Seisei-chan floated further down, eyeing her with apprehension.
“Sorry, Tokachi-chan.”
Ameko lurched forward again, and again, he flew back. Ameko quickly realized that this wasn’t going to work.
Ameko had remembered the days afterschool in her backyard, in the makeshift training ground, trying to knock Gakutori-nii off of his feet. She’d try the same lunge. She remembered his slightly amused tone when he told her that it wasn’t a good idea -- Ameko would get tired a lot quicker than Gakutori-nii would. She bit the inside of her cheek and thought.
Ameko’s quirk buzzed with energy waiting to be used. When Seisei-chan took a floating step towards his side of the goal, Ameko knew what she was going to do.
When Ameko was little, she used hopscotch to try and control her quirk. She tried to stay in the squares by doing little jumps, because otherwise, she could hurt herself. Her quirk was one that she loved, but it was dangerous, too.
Patience. Self control. Ameko tapped her foot on the ground and lunged, aiming higher. This was no problem for Seisei-chan; he ducked lower, instead.
That was his mistake.
She shifted her attack to kick his side, and he cried out in alarm, the ball rolling out of his arms and down the street. Ameko was fast; she scrambled, grabbing the orb and breaking into a run towards her goal. Seisei-chan floated after her at a speed that was actually a little startling for Ameko; she was faster, but if she made one wrong move, he’d catch up in no time.
Ameko heard it before it was going to happen. She could hear most of her classmates’ fights from the headset, but Takakutou-chan’s boisterous, “We’ll see how you like this building, Tall Girl.”
A building.
“Holey Cow, this is Hop To It, reporting in. Did you say you’re going to bring a building down?”
“I sure as hell am! Why do you care, Bunny Girl?” Takakutou-chan spat into the mic, followed by a grunt from what Ameko assumed was her battle.
“Where are you? What’s your 20? I need to slow my opponent down.” Ameko ducked into an alleyway to her left, ran, then hopped a street over. The orb was cradled in her hands like a child.
Takakutou-chan laughed haughtily. “Saving your ass, am I? I’m on the building on the corner -- it’s the one next to the burger shop.”
Ameko clicked her tongue, and on her next hop, spotted it a few minutes away. “I need you to hold off on that building. Can you do that?”
“Of course I can! What, you think I’m in trouble? I’m already winning the--” Takakutou-chan shrieked, and there was a crash, “--I’ve got Tall Girl under control!”
“Great.” Ameko waited, and once she passed the building, she shouted a loud, “Now!”
A lot of things happened at once. Behind Ameko, there was a rumbling, and the building Takakutou-chan described started toppling in on itself without the weight of the chunk she punched out. Ameko looked back, but kept going, and stumbled over the finish line orb in hand. Her chest heaved, and she slumped against a tree, the orb rolling at her feet.
Ameko heard the call of, “Tokachi Ameko wins!”, but she was more focused on the sweet, satisfying taste of her candy.
After the exercise and a shower, the bed Ameko rested on wasn’t her own. She closed her eyes, soaking in the quiet of a soundproofed room and the vibes -- the cool breeze of a fall night, brushing your cheeks and enveloping you in a refreshing embrace. She could feel the slow, steady rise and fall of breathing from the person she was laying on.
Underneath her, Lana-chan let out a gruff oof as Gakutori-nii flopped on top of the two girls. “So, 1-A had radios, eh? Who’s idea wassit -- Bird knock-off?”
Ameko grunted as she went to twist, looking up at her best friend and his dumb, smug smile. She stuck her tongue out in return, blowing a raspberry.
“It was my idea!” She bragged.
He snorted, ruffling her hair roughly. “Not too bad, Amenee.”
Ameko couldn’t help the smile that infected her entire being.

Taiyuu spar: Moya vs Yuu
Taiyuu- @taiyuu-high-oct Nanako Yuu- @artibun Kemuri Moya- me There was huffing, the cold but airy dust had now paved away. Slowly revealing the result. A man loomed over someone else, bamboo-like stick in hand. His brows were furrowed, but not in a bad way. Instead, it was the worrying kind that was on his expression. The middle of the arena was frozen, as the air chilled to such an extent you could see your breath pretty clearly as you exhaled. In the long, but thin chilling silence that followed after Senshi Yasashii and Hiyasu Shimokizu’s fight, a loud, but distant clapping can be heard. It came from one of the two taiyuu teachers who had watched and spectated this fight.
“Ooho man!~ What~ a~ fight!! You both did very well, no matter who came out triumphant!” Exclaimed the 1-A teacher, the hero Aurora, was ecstatic with how this spar had been, watching it was like you were on a roller coaster! It was said the same with the other battles so far. As they had both been unexpected. These students were full of surprises! Though her student had lost, the many paths paved for potential, and growth was there. She gave a bitter smile as Shimokizu had lost the round, despite the powerful quirk usage.
Another voice joined in, coming from the 7ft tall hero, Wolfsboon. The 1-B teacher of taiyuu, the enemy of 1-A’s teacher. Crossing his arms, he talked. “Hmph. Honestly, 1-B gained a winning victory, was both unexpected and quite up to par.” Solemnly stated the monotone but serious Wolfsboon. During the spar, he was surprised again and again. He had seen quite the potential out of the quirkless student, Yasashii, in this match. “It seems the principle found quite the unexpected but skillful student. Weak in natural power, but does make up for it in skill. How prosperous.” He commented with a small smile as Yasashii helped Shimozuki up from her icy collapsed position. Both shook hands, bowing to each other, making small talk, and going their separate ways. The duo exited the boxy but greyed arena.
During that fight, both enemy and frenemy students had cheered the two on. Making critique comments on the two sparrers. Also throwing insults and comments at one another in the spectating border. Especially 1-B’ exemplary student: Ozen Fujinuma and 1-A’ boisterous student: Takakutou Shakou. The two had clashed head-to-head on a one on one battle of words! Yo mama jokes and nasty insults that brought up the weaknesses of some students when they each had their spar. But for now, it was a tie. For now…
As the two went opposite ways their classmates both congratulated and commented on the fight. Some were good, some were critiques on the fight. One student, Tokachi Ameko, had gotten the task of bringing Shimozuki to the nurse’s office. Senshi had volunteered to help as he was responsible for the gal’ over usage of her quirk. Making her body’s temperature drop. She was chilled, freezing, almost cold to the touch. But, both students of opposite classes did agree the whole thing was unexpected, the hype during the battle was like a rollercoaster ride. Though loud clap was heard as it quieted down the chatter. “M’kay! Now remember kiddos, this is a spar. We’re not here to kill each other! But do keep up the spunk you little rascals!” Aurora stated happily and loudly. Though the spars are coming to an end, the two teachers now know what’s needed to be done!
Help identify and point out the student’ weaknesses, have them come up with ways to get rid of those weaknesses. They would exert the growth and development of these guys, making them fine heros. “Hmm~ now this is quite the revelation! Next up is: Moya Kemuri and Nanako Yuu.” Exclaimed the feisty Aurora. Meanwhile, Wolfsboon furrowed and twitched a brow, giving a frown. Moya, that cloud kid who always slept in class. It didn’t bother him much, except for the fact the kid was tired all the time that it was unpleasant. He’s spotted moya sleeping outside, always on a cloud, every damn time. I mean if he was that tired then why bother coming to class? Though teaching was unpleasant, at least stay up for it if you were to waste his time. He gave a silent huff as he folded his arms once again, dipping his head backward, facing the clear blue sky. “Let's see if the sleeping kid has the potential per the same as the others” he stated in a serious but quiet tone.
Meanwhile, in the 1-B spectator area, was Moya Kemuri himself. And boy, was his expression stressed! Anxiety was lingering in his eyes as he was daunting over the fact he might disappoint his classmates! I mean c’ mon-! This was his first fight after all! And on the first day of school as well? It made his pull at his bushy ponytail.. he could feel his anxiety in the pit of the stomach. During Senshi and Shimozuki’s spar, Moya was quiet and didn’t join the others in talking much. But his eyes were sparkling, a starry gaze as how cool Senshi was when they fought to win. Gakusa’ was second because of that unexpected encyclopedia. He did, however, worry for Shimozuki because man- she looked like she would die from making the air too cold. Her skin turning pale with bits of ice stuck onto it, small shivers worsened the more she fought with her quirk.
Now his name being called made him jolt, flinch even. As his thought process snapped. Eyes were on him now- and damn sure he isn’t ready for them to be. As chatter from earlier quieted down. The clouds on his head were turning into a mixed gradient of dark gray black and light blue. He had always worn a cloth masked over his mouth and nose. Not because he has something to hide oh no- mainly because his stress makes him hyperventilate. Others beforehand had commented on the hyperventilation as ‘rude’ ‘weird’ and a ‘what’s your deal?’ for a variety of reasons. Others had just shifted away from him and gave him looks. So to hide it, he covers it up. Everything went better after that, so now he’ll just cover it up. He stepped onto the arena, stairs were there to get up on it. Think of it as a wrestling arena type of thing. He looked around, still worrisome, as his opponent, Nanako, had climbed up on stage.
He raised an eyebrow at the gold-colored wings. Oh, those were quite pretty! Though it seems Yuu was making a firm and determined facial expression. A stubborn one looking ready to fight like it’s her last breath. However, Moya just wore a shocked and distressed expression. He did not want this fight to go on- so he furrowed his brows. He set his sights on being determined to end this the moment the fight started. M’kay! Now as always start the battle on the count of three!~” shouted the ecstatic aurora. “1!~” Moya was readying himself, calming his nerves as his clouds had turned a shade of yellow-orange.
The 1-B students were packed with tension. Not many of them even knew Moya pretty well, better yet know who he even is. So all they can do is, see who’s going to win. Of course, throw insults at the enemy class during this fight. “2!~” Nanako still had that determined expression, as she stared down her tall opponent, moya. A slick drop of sweat dripped down from her right cheek. As she too, was readying herself for this fight and ongoing tension. “3~ -!!!”Aurora didn’t even get to finish the sentence as Moya had already initiated this fight. He had made a quick but airy stance as he clenched the air around his hand. Making the veins of his open hand pop out if you look closely and arch his fingers. Two thick greyed but dulled and charred clouds came from his arm. They were jolting and packed with bold yellow electricity! Flickering here and there you can barely see it as you blink. As it was summoned from Moya's forearm, it connected with h. Resulting in it going straight for Nanako’s neck. As it was about to close in on Nanako's face, she jumped. Her reflexes getting the better of her as she bolted up and off the ground. She only moved by instinct, seeing the cloud at the last minute. Her face was pale. 'I didn't even see that!' she thought, panic binding her facial expression as her brows furrowed. Currently, she was but a few feet up into the air. And it was quite true, the fast and furious cloud was all but a deep black blur to the spectators. The spectating students let out gasps, some cooed in amazement, some thought it was quite the surprise.
As she flew Nanako was thinking of a plan, anything. Should she retaliate and edge on Moya in fighting more? No no. He's a fellow student of Taiyuu,... and she'd probably have a guilty conscience of doing it to this guy. So she decided on dodging. Up until she can find the right time to strike. So in the midst of it, she was chased around by the two clouds of bolted lightning. Making her lose stamina, so after ten minutes of this awful chase, she stopped. Flying up at the fastest, remaining speed she could muster. The clouds followed of course, but Nanako did a short spin- stopping her flight and letting herself drop. Having a leg positioned to the ground, as she fell through the two clouds. Both dissipitated, mainly because they kept on going upward, Moya didn't react in time to stop and move them. But as she fell Moya clicked his tongue, snapping his fingers and muttering a 'sorry.' As the seemingly-dissipated clouds reconnected with each other. Their splotches of fluffs going back to form, smashing against each other from behind Nanako. The Nanako who was trying to stop her gravitating fall... Utterly striking one of the wings, the top half at least. Yuu then let out a quick but loud shriek. as she stopped her movements and grabbed the cut wing. She felt like she had been struck by a large pin of lightning! So she stopped all movement focusing on the wing.
This resulted in Nanako falling to the ground before she fell she was near Kemori and upon falling she managed to grip her body's direction. Which was, afoot to kick moya in the face with. I mean her body was going haywire- in the air at least. She tried to flap and move it but without the other end, she moved in a diagonal direction. Because you know what? She didn't want to go down without a fight. So she's decided to kick moya in the face and, he was in a daze from exhaustion. So when he saw her foot inches from his face he just stood there in motion, letting himself roll back and crash. And this made Nanako go "Eh!?" Comments of how this was ...an odd thing to happen. With the 2B Ozen commenting on how slow the guy's reaction was. Sure he's got a good amount of power, but it drains his energy and hinders his reaction. A thing hero's needed. Another thing that the cloud kid needed to work on, it was troublesome. Even Wolfhard was stunned...
But as Moya laid there another odd thing happened. The ground reverberated, as moya's seemingly unconscious body started to hyperventilate. He was shivering- his whole body was. As his pupils were going up and down, in and out. He was blinking in and out of consciousness. Eyes were white, he started breathing more rapidly convulsing even, as the clouds on his head disappeared. a flashback appeared. This made Nanako panic even more- oh god- she didn't think this guy would have such spasms after getting kicked in the face.
Smiling faces. the two older brothers and his twin, Kanato. But Kanato looked like Lin- It went black. It was like watching a movie- a dream of some sort. As he turned to his left. Confused and wide-eyed, he saw the twins as children. He was standing in front of a short but white-greyed playground brick wall. Plants behind him and such as he was battered and bruised. moya squinted as he was making a worrisome face. He couldn't see this scene very well- it was blurry. He pondered and wore a nervous smile. As he started running he slowly came to a stop. His whole expression dropped, he looked like he was seeing something unbelievable. Younge Moya was- suffocating three others. It was a flashback on the entrance exam- but a continuation of it. It was where the young moya was wearing a darkened expression as it looked down on the three who were starting to choke and gag. Suffocation at its finest as there was a ring or large clouds around them. Parents trying to break in, the children clawing the clouds to get out. With a young Lin, collapsed on the ground behind the younger moya. A bright red handprint and some dirt on the kid. It seems the younger moya had seen his twin gets hurt.
But now the kids in those kids' faces were turning purple. A wave of panic hit as he ran over to the kids wide-eyed. Moya was all shakey, anxiety was found on his expression as he entered the scene. touching the clouds as one obeyed and vanished. The kid collapsed completely, passing out. But as he was reaching for the other cloud, the small Moya had appeared in front of his face. Everything had gone black, the younger version had an explicted face that was covered in a seemingly black bundle of doodles. It tilted its head at him. Moya was going to question the smaller one when all of a sudden he was tackled by hands? He panicked more as he was being dragged, halfway as he grabbed ahold of the floor. Positioning himself as he leaned forward, an arm down and hand near it. Grabbing the floor. Everything had turned dark, the younger moya slowly turning his attention to the older, present one. The younger one leaned in but...present Moya couldn't see the exact facial expression from the mouth. He did freeze in place. Moya made a desperate face and frown, as the younger one cracked a devilish and sinister smile behind that bundle. He stopped, his desperate expression worsening to fear as childish laughter chimed in. The younger one stopped. Approaching and setting a foot onto Moya's forehead, swiftly pushed Moya into the hole as everything blackened. He felt fear, a terrible one. As he started to go deeper and deeper...thoughts, words, phrases, from Lin came in. A desperate attempt at hope? Maybe. He didn't know as he kept falling and falling, deeper and deeper into the hole.
Nanako had backed away since the more or so subconscious moya started hyperventilating more, along with the fact the ground was shaking. She then winced in pain, clicking her tongue and biting her lip. One of her wings were cut and damaged! Making her remember those terrible, terrible flashbacks on when her wings were cut and ripped off as she blacked in and out. She bent over as she stood and gripped her head. Man these, hurt, painful too. Her being held harshly and restrained- to tear off the dazzling golden wings. She subconsciously backed away, an eyebrowed raised and she held her arm out to act as a shield if anything fatal happened. She was in a defensive stance, but moya then stopped convulsing. She still gripped her head but hesitantly lowered her arms to a slight degree. She was starting to worry about the man, maybe she should see if he's ok... I mean this was a spar, and because of the guy's reaction, she thought she broke something...Nanako was going to check up on the cloud kid, she even started to hesitantly approach him. ..But all of a sudden clouds of all kinds filled the arena. Surrounding the butterfly-quirk user as clouds of lightning, gas, acid rain, storm, etc filled up and kept on filling up. Some merged when they touched, but the result was quite a large multicolored and sickly looking cloud.
Taking up space as much as the arena itself. "What the-!!" Nanako yelled before they all attacked at the same time. Students in the spectating ring braced themselves for the impact, but then a loud voice cut in. Making everyone stop, even the cloud itself. "Nanako Yuu is immobilized! The winner is Kemuri Moya!!" Aurora stated as she cut the eery silence. The cloud stopped, and as it stopped it started to evaporate. At the end of the dust-like evaporation, Moya was there. Standing in the same spot he was kicked into and convulsed in. It put Nanako in a daze, furrowing her eyebrows, before snapping out of the minute-long daze she panicked while giving a smile that seemed to be confused as what had just happened. What caused Moya to stand back up though? Her martial arts skills surely hit him, he even fell at the kick she gave when she couldn't keep herself in the air.
"Wh- what-... Is there something wrong?? Did I do something wrong??" Stated the still full of spirit and confused, Nanako. A drop of sweat was located on her right cheek. She had been trying to push the idea of the pain coming from the half ripped wing.
"No No. there is nothing wrong. It's just that with your wings being cut, and Kemuri' clouds surrounding you, both equal to being immobilized." Wolfhard stepped in and talked in a stern voice as he approached the two. He wore a frown. His eyes were arched and narrowing at Nanako. Her the top left wing was completely torn off, a messy rip though... He then turned at the conscious but confused moya. "...Kemuri. Go take Nanako to the infirmary to see the nurse." He stated clearly, though passing by the furrowed and concerned moya. He stated something else, quietly and with a low growl. "Take better care of your control. Otherwise, we'd have to restrain and treat you as a villain. You did in fact, almost kill a fellow student with that mystery power box of a quirk." He stated quietly, whereas only moya could hear. There was a disappointment and a serious but angry tone to his voice. Moya could hear it, as he too- was disappointed in himself. It seems all those clouds had merged collectively, forming a hideous black bolted cloud, but stopped once Moya woke up from Aurora announcing him the winner.
He bit his tongue as he looked down. "...Yes sir." He replied sadness was in his tone as he looked over at Nanako. She was in confusion, as she tempted to make her way to the nurse's office herself. Stumbling in the process, before moya summoned a cloud under her to catch the fall. Seems that the damage from the wing was recuperating to her head. Making her feel lightheaded, looks like she pushed off the pain. Making Moya concerned, but didn't say anything as the two made their way to the nurses' office.

Since I don't know many writers on here I'll be tagging anyone who wants to do this!
When Aurora and Wolfsboon ran to meet them at the school's entrance, both of them showing their worry in their own separate ways, Yasashii and Shakou finally collapsed together, exhausted, but safe in the arms of their concerned homeroom teachers.
like two weeks ago @preciousthingsareprecious tagged me to share the last line I wrote, and I finally remembered to do it. rules are: post the last line you wrote, and then tag as many people as there are words in the line.
He was a bit peeved about it, to be honest.
that’s ten but I’m bad at tagging so @trash0falltrades @starscreaming-into-the-void @lurkinglurkerwholurks and uuuuuh @jerseydevious

Here's my entrance exam for @taiyuu-high-oct
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kiru bounced her leg, growing antsy. The pit in her stomach that had formed when she arrived has been filled with the prickly thorns of impatience. She’d been in the waiting room for what felt like actual years. The rest of the students had slipped into a sedentary state, idly checking their watches or cleaning their nails, or even just staring at the wall. Every so often, someone would jerk their head, fighting off the tendrils of sleep seeping into their bodies.
"STUDENTS!" the over-enthusiastic voice crackled over the intercom, jolting the examinees out of their stupor. "Prepare yourselves for the most dangerous exam of your lives! This exam is fraught with peril, fear, and…" The voice, who Kiru supposed was a woman, trailed off. "Buckskin, what's another word for danger?"
"Er, maybe it'd be best to get to the exam part, Miss Laccadaisie." A soft voice (Buckskin, apparently) replied.
"Ah." There was a pause, then a scraping sound, like the microphone was being pushed across the table. "Your turn, then."
Buckskin sighed. "Anywho. Students, pay attention to this bit. Your entrance exam will be given in the form of an obstacle race." Low whispers snaked across the room. Some students, like Tokachi and Hiraku, brightened. Their quirks were well suited for a race. The others looked deflated, Kiru among them. How was she supposed to show off her quirk in an obstacle race?
"Some of you may be feeling downcast," Buckskin said as if reading her thoughts, "but don't fret. We've taken care to ensure that all quirks will be usable." The room let out a collective sigh of relief.
"You will be scored in three categories. The first: heroics, which is measured by how many enemies you defeat and bystanders you save. The second: speed, measured by how fast you defeat each obstacle. The third: co-operation." Kiru raised an eyebrow.
"You will be taking the exam with an assigned partner."
...
Oh boy.
Cries of indignation filled the room.
"What?! This a group project?!"
"I hardly know anyone here!"
"Oh...what if I'm no help?"
Laccadaisie cleared her throat pointedly. Everyone quieted down immediately. Buckskin muttered a quiet thanks, then continued. "Your pairs will be displayed on the screen to the right, and then you may leave through the door on the left. Remember, your points are cumulative, so don't try to sabotage your partner." He coughed. "Er, we wish you all the best of luck.
"And don't forget to have fun!" Laccadaisie chimed in. And with a click, the intercom shut off.
Silence.
Kutou was the first to pipe up. "Whoever gets assigned with me, you better not expect me to carry you."
"Vhy vould anyone trrrrust you enough to carrrry zem?" A girl with purple hair and grey skin muttered.
The screen on the right flashed.
TAKAKUTOU SHAKOU & TOKACHI AMEKO
Kutou stood up and trudged her way over to the door. "Come one, bunny girl. Let's get this done." Tokachi stood up begrudgingly, glaring with all the powers of Hell at Kutou's retreating back. Kiru whistled lowly.
She never wanted to be on the receiving end of that glare.
The two of them slipped out of the room, and after that people started trickling out into the most important moment of their careers. The screen flashed brightly, sealing each pair's dates.
SEISHIN TAMASHI & INOUE HIRAKU
YUKINO ZOË & HOTARU FUJI
SUZUKI POPI & ARAKAN KOATSU
With each person that left, the tension grew heavier and heavier until Kiru could practically taste it. Her potential partner options grew slimmer and slimmer. She had a sneaking suspicion who hers was gonna be, but she kept praying it wouldn't be so. Soon everyone had left except for…
Him.
She hadn't even bothered to learn his name. Why waste time and energy getting to know someone you'd never plan on talking to by your own free will?
The look on his face told her that her line of thinking was paralleled.
She sighed. "Well, howdy doody, partner? What's your name? I didn't catch it over the sound of your stupidity whilst you were preening earlier."
He scoffed and pointed to the screen.
KANZOU KANEDA & KOTTOBA KIRU
"Personally, I'd rather avoid speaking to you more than is necessary," he drawled. "Don't want to give the impression that I tolerate you."
Kiru rolled her eyes. "Your loss, McSalty, you're missing out on a stellar personality." She strode over to the door and opened it, giving him a comically over-the-top bow. "Ladies first."
"What an elementary insult."
"Honey, if you thought that was an offence, you've never looked in a mirror." She shut the door behind her. Kanzou opened his mouth, probably to give some poorly thought out retort, but was cut off by a rather distracting explosion.
Kiru ducked instinctively and turned her attention to the scene before her. Several surprisingly human-sized robots were darting around; breaking windows, throwing around bricks, and harassing passerby. There were screams of citizens (which she hoped were simulated) echoing around. Above them all, a significantly larger robot floated above the chaos, clearly meant to be the final boss.
She whistled. "They really went all out, didn't they?" Silence. "Alright then. Can you handle a couple of robots while I do some rescues?"
"Let's just get this over with." He rushed off and started hurling...sugar? At the robots? How was that supposed to help?
She shrugged and ran off towards the nearest citizen, who was being attacked by a villain. The citizen was a different type of robot, more round and friendly-looking. The enemies were sharper-looking and had screens on their faces, which was currently displaying “>:)”. Kottoba rushed over and tugged the attacker off, throwing it across the street. It was surprisingly light. She turned back to the citizen and helped it to its feet.
“You alright, man?” The friendly robot brushed itself off and gave Kiru a thumbs up before running off. She smiled. That wasn’t that hard. She ran to the next group of citizens and herded them away from the fight. Then there was one pinned under a bit of debris. Then a child-sized one stuck in their house. Then a couple, clinging to each other, being beaten by a whole gang of robots.
She obliterated them all.
Feeling more and more confident with each moment, she turned around to check on Kanzou.
“Oh, brilliant.”
The narcissistic rat was challenging the boss. There was a random assortment of small fruits and vegetables floating around him. He was hurling sugar everywhere, occasionally spicing it up with a piece of produce, which didn’t seem to have a be super effective. The boss was attacking him so fast, it was a wonder Kanzou wasn’t shredded to bits by now.
“Oi! Raisin-brain! What are you doing?!” Kiru yelled out.
Kanzou glanced over and at that moment the boss was able to land a hit. He dropped to the ground.
“Frick-” Kiru rushed to him, prepared to help and possibly perform CPR, but Kanzou kicked her as soon as she was in range.
“Ow! Why?”
“Get down, you stupid friking idiot.” he hissed. Kiru dropped immediately.
“Why the heck were you fighting that thing? You were supposed to get the little ones down first.”
Kanzou rolled his eyes. “Did you forget the entire point of this thing? It’s a race, dummy. Obviously, the big bad is the obstacle. We've gotta defeat it and then find the exit."
“Okay, then, what do we do?”
He put a hand on his chin and furrowed his brow. "Obviously, it's a tough one, considering my skills were barely able to make a dent in it. We'll have to rely on trickery."
Kiru gave him an incredulous look. "Your skills? You mean throwing potatoes at a robot?"
He gave her a harsh glare, cold as ice. "Well, you haven't done anything significant this whole time."
She sputtered. "I'm the only reason we even have points! You're the unhelpful one! All you've done is chuck fruit and I could do that without a quirk!" Kanzou opened his mouth to argue, but at that moment The Boss hurled a handful of small building chunks at them. One piece smacked Kiru in the head, and it hurt.
To put it delicately, Kiru lost it.
"Oh, rust off, you bucket of bolts!" She popped up from their shoddy hiding place, anger boosting her new-found energy. "You are the sorriest excuse for a villain dummy I've ever had the displeasure of meeting! You're not even doing anything, you stupid hunk of garbage! Your mother was a roomba and your father came from a scrapyard! What are you even made of, brainless steel?!" The Boss stopped suddenly, its facial screen glitching. Sparks flew from its joints, and it jerked violently. Kiru backed away. It was going crazy. The robot stopped convulsing, its facial screen briefly displaying an ":0" face.
And then it exploded.
"Gah!" Kiru scrambled out of the explosion's range. Flaming pieces of robot rained down, making it 100% more dangerous. A hand tapped her shoulder and she jumped. It was Kanzou, who was pointing to a door that had opened up on the other side of the fire.
"That has to be the exit!" He exclaimed. Kiru nodded in agreement.
"How do we get there?"
In response, he flicked his hand and drew out a white powder from one of his pockets. "You need to follow me closely, otherwise you'll get burned." He took off, laying down thick layers of powder in front of him. Kiru bolted after him. The powder seemed to put out the fire almost instantly. After they had gotten through the worst of it, he spread his arms in a grand gesture, and a flurry of powder settled over the remaining flames. He turned back, satisfied. Kiru grinned.
"Race you to the exit." Kanzou rolled his eyes, then dashed ahead of her. "Hey! I didn't say go yet!" She yelled, but she wasn't really mad. She ran after him, but he totally got there before her. "Rude."
"Don't be offended,I'm just better than you." Kiru snorted. She pushed open the door, giving him a comical bow.
"It's still ladies first."
"Excuse you, I'm a queen." He strode in and yelped. Kiru quickly followed him.
"What? What is-" she gaped.
In front of them, there was a large screen, displaying their rankings among the other examinees.
"Second place?!" Whatever Kiru was expecting, it wasn't that. "Heck yeah, dude!" She raised her hand for a high five. Kanzou just scowled.
"I could've done better if you hadn't slowed us down." He meant it to sound insulting, but Kiru thought he sounded more mad at himself.
Or maybe her brain was filtering it to sound that way as not to ruin her mood. Whatever.
"Well, we're in the school now. Schools are for improving, right?" She grinned. "I'll just have to work hard to turn my stupid into strategy." Kanzou didn't respond, but he didn't scoff or roll his eyes, so Kiru took that as a sign he'd taken her stellar advice to heart.
Ah, yes. Kottoba Kiru, dropper of hot wisdom, maker of puns, master of flirtation…
Hero hopeful.
A quiet city really feels unnatural. (Taiyuu Round 2, electric boogaloo)
A quiet city really feels unnatural. Of course it would have been empty - it was a fake city that Kutou was in, meant for training, and with that day’s heroics exercise, there were at least some sounds off in the distance. But that didn’t make the silence any less intimidating. No people walking, no cars driving… it just felt so wrong.
Naturally, Kutou’s response to this was to make her own noise. She wouldn’t be able to focus on the oppressive silence of the empty streets if she was focused on the sound of her breaking open holes into the sides of buildings. Plus, it certainly helped to further her goal in winning this game of capture the flag. Or, well, orb.
“Damn it, not here either.” Kutou coughed a bit, and waved a hand in front of her face to clear away some of the dust from the wall she just punched out. “At this rate, my marker’s going to run out of ink before I even get a clue as to where it is.” She took a cursory glance around the room. Nothing special, just seemed to be an imitation of a normal room.
Kutou let out a groan as she walked to the door. She drew a circle on it, and kicked it out. "God, who would have known that this would be so damn boring?" She left out through her homemade exit, and found herself on the streets yet again.
Turning to the side, Kutou finally saw her opponent. Tall girl. Walking down the street, presumably searching the houses, just like she was.
Glancing around, Kutou managed to find a fairly sturdy wall she could stand behind. Perfect. Just a quick runaround, drew a circle on the wall, and then she shouted “HEY, TALL GIRL!” Tall girl - Ozone?, turned around, and Kutou grinned as she rammed into her circle, sending it flying right at Oven.
“HAH! Take that!” Well, that sure was easy. If Kutou could just knock her out like that, this round would be eas- Oh, Frozen was still standing. What was her quirk again? Kutou thought, while she was swiftly approaching. Oh right. It was Juggernaut.
“Shit.”
Well, time for Takakutou to start running. Down the street, take a left or two, just keep running. She had no clue if Ounce was even still chasing after her, but, better safe than sorry, right? The buildings started getting more industrial - she must be heading downtown. All the better to lose Olive in.
Kutou saw something out of the corner of her eye, and she skidded to a stop. There, in the window of a hotel - according to the sign, it was the “Rosebud Hotel” - was something glowing. The orb. Right there…
On the 10th floor. Well, Kutou did have a trick she had wanted to try out, ever since seeing the bunny girl during the first round. She drew a circle on the ground, and slammed her palm down onto that circle, sending her flying up. She just barely managed to latch onto a ledge by the window, but she still made it up. A few circles & punches later, and she’d gotten inside, and picked up the orb.
But as Kutou turned back to the window, she could see that Zone was approaching the building. There was a brief, awkward moment of eye contact, before she walked right in, and Kutou was left with - how long would it take someone to get to the 10th floor? Not a lot of time, especially with elevators. Whatever. Kutou needed to get out of there, and Kutou needed to get out of there fast.
Kutou carefully exited through the window. Her entrance hadn’t left much way of an exit, and she may have slipped while almost at the bottom, but she was fine. Glancing at the blank wall, she got an idea. She took out her marker, and started drawing one of the biggest squares she’d ever drawn on the side of the wall. After all, she thought to herself, Frozone over there may have been able to tank a chunk of wall, but there’s no way she can tank this.
Kutou grinned once her handiwork was done. “HEY MRS. JUGGERNAUT!” She shouted. “MIGHT WANNA WATCH YOURSELF! I HEARD THAT THIS BUILDING WAS RATHER UNSTABLE!” She rammed directly into the side of the building, and almost tripped over what was left of the wall as it flew directly inwards. “Time to get out of here!” Kutou started running away, and towards her goal line.
Kutou always thought that a quiet city was unnatural. But, well, a collapsing building certainly made a lot of noise. She smiled to herself as she crossed her goal line. It was nice to have some noise in the city again. And hey, keeping her opponent trapped was certainly a plus.
