Entry 7
To speak upon my learnings and experiences during this subject, I gained a large amount of knowledge during the guest speakers, as they passed down their knowledge onto us and told us about their journey and stories post-graduation entering the sports media/sports business industry. They gave us pointers as to what employers are looking for in their interns such as their work ethic, how to succeed in their application process, how to speak and answer questions during interviews, and more helpful knowledge and tips. The guest speakers also helped me understand the exact pathway and area I want to work in which I take into consideration when carefully reading internship offers.
I learnt a lot when it comes to resume and cover letter writing, what to include and what not to, the right language to use, how to layout your documents, etc. The practice interviews also helped me immensely to fully comprehend how it will look in the real industry world. The student/peer interviews helped although the main interview that helped me personally was the A3 assignment interview. The interviewer Jess and my teacher Davin gave me insightful feedback about my interview. To elaborate in detail, they described how I had great answers for the ‘what does teamwork mean to you’ question, as I answered with ‘I believe teamwork is all about helping and supporting one another, being able to unite and grow together with uplifting energy will help the entire team prosper and succeed’. The interviewer’s Jess and Davin liked that answer based on the strong words and language I used.
To explain the mistakes I made during the interview, one that stood out and helped me immensely includes when they asked me a question along the lines of; ‘do you have an experience where something went wrong in the workplace or any other environment where you took a step forward and lead in the right direction’. I then described an instance where a group assignment involved the use of gaining connections with a NBL1 team to create content for them, we weren’t communicating on time so they weren’t responding back to us in time to capture the content, so I took the lead and use a connection I made when I volunteered for the Melbourne United games back during my highschool and TAFE course which helped us regain connection. After this, the feedback I got from Davin made me remember how I also went to interview Andrew Gaze alone, which I forgot to mention in my answer. He described to me how I should definitely add that information into the interview to demonstrate my initiative skills. Their advice helped me immensely and I will definitely be taking it upon in terms of my career perspective.

In the dream, Gabi showed up to a TAFE class like she had been a classmate all along but just never showed up until today. I was surprised and happy to see her. Obviously no one else in my class had ever met her. My classmates and I were outside when she showed up, we were sitting on some wooden decking, waiting for class to start. AJ was there and I pointed to him and then to her and was very amused like ‘look it’s the three of us’. It's like I wanted to introduce them to each other
I was at work, in the warehouse at the back and Georgie showed up as if she worked there. I had just clocked on or was about to but I wanted to go to the toilet first to pee before beginning my shift. But when she showed up, it seemed like she was more desperate to go than I was and I knew this without her even saying anything. So I let her go first while I was hovering about looking at my phone. I think she was gonna do a number 2 or something because all of a sudden there’s a fortress of toilet paper and other objects between me and her that begins about where the microwave is and even further back than that. I see her go in the toilet with a tissue roll. We're having a conversation throughout all of this, she asked me about Gabi, the new student and I told her we’d been friends all along.
We’re in the computer lab and I’m logged into my computer and I’m trying to do work but I realise someone is typing and doing something from afar, like they’re logged in distantly. At first I think the computer is lagging, I keep trying to move my mouse to get it to work but then I realise they’re actually helping me out by completing my assignment. I ask who it is while they’re typing on Microsoft word. And they’re typing while I’m typing so the sentences are all non-sensical. I try to communicate with them several times over several sentences but it continues to come out as a string of unintelligible words every time. They reply and say 'it’s John' and I instantly think of John Brandi and then all of a sudden I see a circle webcam thing on the top left of the screen, like how it looks when someone makes a video on TG. I only caught a glimpse of him, but it was his general profile and I could see his beard. Then I realise it’s two people who are consulting with each other and completing my work. I think I vaguely know the other person. Somehow I get a vision of them in a lab or something and because they've done this course before and they feel to be people I hold in high regard, I can tell they’re really smart and I sort of trust them with my work for some reason. I see my laptop on the side of the PC, someone has flipped it thinking it was tablet that can stand when inverted into a triangle but that isn’t the case my keyboard was in absolute tatters and the screen was blank. It was so worn so so worn and I thought to myself about replacing the keyboard… I sort of just continue to let them finish my work while I’m doing something else, I'm more concerned with socialising with someone or someone(s) in that computer lab.

What is RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)?
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is an assessment process that enables you to have your skills and knowledge from life, work and other experiences recognised against course requirements. It can also help you to avoid studying subjects that are not relevant to your future career goals and save you money on training fees.
The PLAR/RPL process is a method of assessing your learning in relation to specific qualifications, modules or units of competency, based on what you already know and have achieved. It is an effective means of identifying gaps in your learning, which may be able to be filled through additional study and/or practice or other forms of support.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal and structured way to assess the learning that you have achieved from your life, work and other experiences against specific courses and units of competency. It is an efficient and cost-effective way to ensure that you are able to achieve your desired qualification or progression to higher education, with minimal or no further study.
During your course, you will need to complete the Recognition of Prior Learning application and information form (available via TAFE SA). You should also bring this together with any RPL evidence that you have. Your Trainer will then review your RPL application and assess it against the requirements of the course you are enrolled on, and notify you if your application is successful or not.
Credit transfer and advanced standing are often confused with RPL, but are different processes. The key difference is that credit transfer deals mainly with academic performance and the assigning of credits, while RPL considers whether you have the skills and knowledge required to gain a specific qualification.
In the UK, higher education qualifications are awarded by a university and are usually worth a certain number of credits. You can use this credit if you completed a similar syllabus to the one that is used on the course you want to study. This is usually within the past five years, but it depends on the course.
You can also use this credit if you started but did not complete your qualification or if you have an equivalent qualification or credits from a non-UK higher education institution, such as professional development or employment-based awards. The University of London has its own rules for this, and you should consult them if you are unsure about the process.
Your qualifications and credits can be assessed by a range of organisations, including Migration SA. The costs involved in assessing your overseas qualifications will depend on the number of units you are attempting and how many other studies or support may be required to complete the qualification. If you are applying to complete a Vocational Education and Training qualification, TAFE SA will undertake your RPL assessment.
You can apply for RPL at any time during your course, but it is best to do so before the course begins. This can reduce the time and cost of the course, and avoid incurring FEE-HELP debts if you are unable to attend classes due to an accident or other personal circumstances.
Apply for your Trade qualification using years of work experience and “Get qualified now” And fulfill your dreams. GET QUALIFIED NOW is the best RPL services provider in Australia We provide certificates up to an advanced diploma.
