â Ë・âŕ¨ŕ§Ë ââ
taesan is for those who fail to love in moderation; you can see it in the way they speak so fondly of their friends; the various trinket collections scattered around their room; the way their voices raise a pitch around babies or animals; the love letters theyâve never sent collecting dust in the closet.
taesan is for those who treat their playlists like little diaries; bits and pieces of them hidden behind lyrics they relate to all too well; the people they think of when those love songs play; the memories associated with each soulful melody; the endless nights they spent with music as their only comfort.
taesan is for those who obsess over personality tests, archetypes, and astrology because they have an ache to be known; for anything to give breath to their identity because its proof that they are someone (whatâs ur favorite uquiz⌠i know u have one,,).
taesan is for those who cringe whenever a particular name shows up in their predicted text box or photo gallery memories (they canât hurt you anymore, i promise).
taesan is for those who are hyper independent because they donât believe that their needs are worth the time of others (to deny help is a disservice to yourself,,, i hope that one day u can open up your heart again my love).
taesan is for those who carry a particular melancholy with them, who have diligently learned to live alongside it despite it all (happiness isnât something meant to be deserved, but you deserve it all).

I can take care of myself, you donât need to keep worrying about me.
I donât smile anymore.
The clock on the wall ticked away the late hours of the evening as Y/n sat curled up on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her, staring blankly at the TV. She wasnât really watching, her mind too preoccupied with the events of the day. Work had been a disaster. Her boss had been harsher than usual, throwing out unreasonable demands and critiques that left her feeling drained and upset.
She sighed, glancing at her phone. No messages from Taesan. It wasnât unusualâhe was busy, always on the go with rehearsals, interviews, and performances. Being a famous idol meant long hours and even longer nights. Still, they shared this apartment, and she always tried to stay awake to talk to him when he came home.
Her heart lifted slightly when she heard the soft jingle of keys at the door. The lock clicked, and Taesan stepped inside, his hood pulled low over his face, slumping with exhaustion as he kicked off his shoes. He barely glanced in her direction as he made his way into the living room.
She straightened up on the couch, hoping for just a moment of his attention. âHey, youâre home,â she greeted softly, forcing a small smile. âHow was your day?â
âLong,â he muttered, not meeting her eyes as he walked past, heading straight for the kitchen to grab a drink. His tone was flat, his movements sluggish.
Y/n watched him, her heart sinking. âI had the worst day today,â she said, trying again to start a conversation. âMy boss was being such aââ
âNot now,â he interrupted, his voice edged with weariness as he leaned against the counter, rubbing his temples. âIâm tired. I donât want to talk.â
She froze, the words hanging in the air between them, heavier than she expected. She had been waiting all day to tell him about what happened, hoping he would listen, hoping she could find some comfort in his presence. But his dismissal felt like a slap to the face.
Her throat tightened as she swallowed her emotions. âOh,â she whispered, her voice barely audible. âOkay.â
The silence stretched out uncomfortably as Taesan took a sip of his drink, still not looking at her. She tried to keep her disappointment from showing, but it was too late. The lump in her throat made it hard to speak, and the weight of the day, combined with his coldness, felt suffocating.
She stood up quietly, wrapping her arms around herself as if to shield against the sudden chill between them. âIâll... leave you alone, then,â she murmured, backing away toward the bedroom. She didnât wait for his response. He didnât offer one.
As she turned, her steps slow and deliberate, her heart ached. This wasnât how she imagined the night going. She had wanted to vent, to share her frustrations with the one person who mattered most to her. But now, she felt more alone than she had all day.
When she closed the bedroom door behind her, the click sounded louder than usual in the quiet apartment. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at her hands, wondering if he even noticed how much she needed him right now.
Back in the living room, Taesan let out a deep sigh, closing his eyes as the weight of the day pressed down on him. He hadnât meant to be so cold, but he was just too tired. Too tired to think, to listen, to be anything but worn out.
But in the silence that followed, something gnawed at himâa faint sense of guilt that he couldnât quite shake, knowing she had wanted to talk, knowing she had needed him.
And he hadnât been there.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
I donât want to think about you all the time.
We tried our hardest to hurt everything between us, and now itâs impossible to repair.
The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, orange glow over the city streets. Y/n sat on the bench at the bus stop, nervously checking her phone for what felt like the hundredth time. Her heart was filled with a mixture of excitement and impatienceâtoday was supposed to be special. Their anniversary.
Taesan had promised to take her on a date after his interview, a rare moment in their hectic lives where they could celebrate together. Sheâd dressed up, her heart racing with anticipation, hoping for some time alone with him. But now, as the minutes dragged on, she couldnât help but feel the growing sense of unease.
She scrolled through her phone again, the unanswered messages staring back at her: "Hey, interview over yet?" "Are you still coming?" "Let me know if you're running late."
No response. No calls. Nothing.
She sighed, biting her lip and glancing down the empty street. The buses came and went, passengers getting on and off, but there was still no sign of him. Her excitement slowly deflated into something more like dread.
A cold breeze picked up, and she pulled her jacket tighter around her. She couldnât shake the feeling of being stood up, but that couldnât be true, right? He wouldnât just forget their anniversary. He wouldnât break his promise to her.
In an attempt to distract herself, she opened her social media, scrolling absentmindedly through the feed. Thatâs when she saw itâa post from a fan page featuring Taesan and his group at some event. There he was, smiling and laughing with his bandmates, dressed in an outfit far too formal for just an interview.
Her heart sank. The caption beneath the photo read, "Surprise appearance at the event! BOYNEXTDOOR looking dashing as always."
She stared at the screen, the image of him so happy, so carefree. She felt a knot twist in her chest, anger and sadness mixing together. He wasnât just lateâhe had gone somewhere else entirely, without even telling her. He had time for an event but not for their anniversary.
Her fingers hovered over the phone, wanting to call him again, but she knew it wouldnât change anything. He wasnât coming.
With a heavy sigh, she stood up, her heart feeling heavier than her feet as she trudged back toward their apartment. Her phone buzzed in her pocket, but she ignored it, knowing it wasnât from him.
The walk back felt longer than usual, her mind replaying the excitement sheâd felt that morningâhow sheâd looked forward to tonight, how sheâd thought this anniversary would be a rare moment where they could be like any other couple. But instead, she was left alone, walking home in the dim light, her hands stuffed in her pockets to keep warm.
Finally, she reached the front door of their apartment building. Pausing for a moment, she glanced back at the empty street, a small part of her still hoping to see him running toward her, apologizing for being late. But the street remained empty, quiet, just like the unanswered messages on her phone.
With a deep breath, she entered the building and climbed the stairs to their apartment. As she unlocked the door and stepped inside, the stillness of the apartment felt colder than the air outside. No flowers, no candles, no sign that today was any different from any other day.
She sank onto the couch, staring blankly at the wall, the weight of disappointment settling in her chest like a stone. All she wanted was to be with him, to feel like she mattered, like they mattered. But tonight, she felt more alone than ever.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
You never cared about trying to get my forgiveness.
Donât let us be covered in scars.
The apartment was quiet, save for the soft hum of the city outside. Y/n sat on the couch, her knees pulled to her chest, hugging a small black cat stuffed animal that Taesan had won for her on one of their early dates. Her eyes were red-rimmed, tears brimming but not falling. She stared blankly at her phone, an article open on the screen, the words blurring in front of her.
The jingle of keys at the door signaled his arrival. The door creaked open, and Taesan stepped in, exhaustion heavy in his posture. He looked worn from the day, his hair disheveled, still in his stage clothes. He let out a deep sigh as he kicked off his shoes, glancing toward her, not immediately noticing the tension in the air.
"Hey," he mumbled, running a hand through his hair. "I'm home."
Y/n didnât respond, her gaze locked on him, her lips pressed into a thin line as she clutched the stuffed animal tighter. Her chest ached with the weight of everything unsaid.
He finally noticed her silence, his eyes narrowing in concern. "Whatâs wrong?" he asked, his voice more annoyed than gentle. He was too tired for thisâwhatever this was.
She didnât speak at first, just held out her phone toward him, the screen illuminating her tear-filled eyes. He frowned, walking over to take it from her hand. When he looked at the screen, his expression immediately shifted.
It was a news articleâanother baseless rumor. His name splashed across the headline alongside another female idol, the two of them speculated to be in a relationship. There were photos from a backstage event, carefully cropped and captioned to imply intimacy where none existed.
He groaned, already dreading the conversation. "Youâve got to be kidding me," he muttered under his breath, tossing the phone onto the coffee table.
"Is this why youâre never around anymore?" Y/n finally spoke, her voice small but laced with hurt. Her eyes, shining with unshed tears, held a mixture of frustration, sadness, and fear. "Because of her?"
His jaw clenched, frustration quickly overtaking his fatigue. "What? No. Itâs just a rumor," he snapped, throwing his hands up. "You really believe that crap? I told you not to pay attention to those things."
"But youâre never here anymore!" Her voice cracked as she stood up, still hugging the stuffed cat to her chest. "Youâre always too busy, too tired, or too... distant. And then I see this andâ" She broke off, shaking her head, tears spilling over now. "How am I supposed to feel? Am I supposed to just ignore it when youâre gone all the time?"
"Iâm working!" he fired back, the anger rising in his chest. "Iâm busting my ass for this career, for usâbut youâre here, worried about some stupid tabloid story? Whereâs the trust?"
"Trust?" she repeated, incredulous. "How can I trust you when you donât even talk to me anymore? When you donât make time for me at all? Do you even care about this relationship?"
Her words cut deep, but his frustration was too overwhelming to process the hurt beneath them. "Of course I care! But youâre suffocating me with all these doubts. Every time I come home, itâs something like this. You worry too much."
"I worry because I care!" Her voice broke, raw with emotion. "Because I love you, and I feel like Iâm losing youâlike youâre slipping away and I canât do anything about it."
The silence that followed was deafening. They stood there, staring at each other, both breathing heavily from the intensity of the argument.
Taesan rubbed his temples, his voice lowering but still tense. "This is ridiculous. Itâs just a rumor. Iâm tired, and I donât want to do this right now."
"You never want to do this," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, her chest heaving as she tried to control the sobs threatening to spill over. "Fine."
With a quiet, bitter laugh, she turned and walked toward their bedroom. "Iâm done with this conversation. Go sleep at your dorm or wherever it is youâd rather be."
His eyes followed her as she disappeared down the hallway, her door closing softly behind her, though the emotional slam still reverberated through him.
He stood there for a long moment, his anger simmering down into guilt, exhaustion pulling at him from all sides. He didnât want to fight, but it always seemed to end up this way. They always ended up like thisâtorn apart by his career, by misunderstandings, by everything he didnât have time to fix.
With a heavy sigh, Taesan grabbed his jacket and keys, heading back toward the door. The silence of the apartment felt unbearable now.
As he stepped out into the cold night air, he shoved his hands into his pockets and walked toward his groupâs dorm, his mind filled with everything left unsaid, wondering how they had come to this.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
When the stars in the sky all sleep, I feel so dark, my body feels inexplicably cold
The night air was heavy, thick with a silence that seemed to press down on everything. The small park near their apartment was a place once filled with memoriesâtheir late-night walks, quiet conversations, stolen momentsâbut now it felt distant, like something from another lifetime.
Taesan stood at the edge of the path, hands shoved deep into his pockets, his breath visible in the cool air. He hadnât been back here in weeks, not since heâd started staying at his groupâs dorm. It felt strange now, almost foreign.
His eyes shifted as he saw Y/n approaching slowly from the other side of the park. His heart clenched at the sight of her, though he couldnât quite place why. She lookedâŚdifferent. Her face was pale, her eyes hollow, the dark bags beneath them evident even in the dim light. The spark, the warmth he always loved in her eyes, was gone. She looked like someone who had been carrying the weight of the world for too long.
She stopped a few steps away from him, the space between them feeling like a chasm.
âWhat did you want to talk about?â he asked, his voice quiet but carrying an edge of tension. He already had a sinking feeling in his chest, but he wasnât ready to confront it.
Y/n looked at him for a long moment, her lips parting as if to speak, but no words came out at first. She shifted her weight, wrapping her arms around herself like she was trying to hold herself together.
"Iâm tired," she finally said, her voice flat, void of emotion. "Iâm tired of waiting for you. Of waiting for us to feel like it used to." Her eyes met his, and the emptiness in them hit him like a punch to the gut. "I canât keep doing this."
His heart stuttered in his chest, but he didnât say anything. He just stared at her, trying to process her words, hoping this wasnât what he thought it was.
âIâm done,â she continued, her voice firmer this time, as if she had rehearsed these words over and over in her head before finally saying them. âI donât want to have to keep waiting on you, waiting for something to change. I feel like Iâm always waiting.â
The silence between them was unbearable now, but he couldnât find the right words to say. His throat felt tight, like any response he tried to form would only come out broken.
She wasnât cryingâthere were no tears. She wasnât angry. JustâŚdone. It made it worse somehow. He wouldâve preferred her to scream at him, to be angry, to throw something, but this quiet resignation was shattering him in a way he hadnât expected.
âYouâre not the same,â she whispered, her voice barely audible but sharp enough to cut through the air between them. "I donât recognize you anymore. And I know youâre tired too. Tired of me, of this... You donât need to say it. I can see it every time you walk out the door and donât come back until late or not at all."
He wanted to protest, to tell her she was wrong, that things could be different, but the words wouldnât come. Maybe because a part of him knew she was right. He hadnât been presentânot really. His career had consumed him, and in the process, he had let her slip away. He let them slip away.
She let out a shaky breath, her eyes momentarily glancing down at the ground before meeting his gaze again. "I loved you," she said softly. "I still do, but I canât keep holding onto something thatâs already gone."
His chest tightened painfully, and he took a small step forward, as if to reach for her, but stopped himself. He didnât know how to fix this. He didnât even know if he could.
âIâm sorry,â she whispered, though it was unclear if she was apologizing to him or to herself.
And then, she turned around, her figure illuminated only by the faint glow of the parkâs streetlights. She didnât run. She didnât storm off. She just walked away, her back to him, her shoulders slightly hunched as if the weight of everything was too much to bear.
He stood there, frozen in place, his heart breaking with every step she took. His mouth opened, but no words came out. He could only watch as she walked further and further away, her silhouette fading into the distance until she was nothing more than a distant memory in the night.
The cold settled into his bones, but he didnât move. He couldnât. He felt numb, like everything inside him had shattered and there was nothing left but the aching emptiness where she used to be. The night stretched on, and the only sound that filled the silence was the faint rustling of leaves in the wind, as the world around him continued on, unaware that his had just fallen apart.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
I donât need the hottest and best car.
I donât need to be the best pop star.
I want to express myself, but I messed up.
Whatâs there to lose! My heartâs already half empty.
The studioâs lights were harsh, reflecting off the mirrors that lined the walls. The steady beat of the music thumped through the room, filling the space with energy, but Taesanâs movements felt sluggish, disconnected from the rhythm. He was usually so precise, so in sync with the choreography, but today he couldnât seem to get it right.
"Again," the instructor called out, clapping their hands sharply, frustration seeping into their voice. "Youâre off, Taesan. Focus."
He nodded, wiping the sweat from his brow, though it felt like the sweat wasnât the problemâit was the weight pressing on his chest. They started the routine again, but halfway through, his steps faltered. His foot missed the mark, his body off-beat. He felt his group members glance at him in concern, but he kept his head down, trying to push through.
"Stop!" the instructor barked, cutting the music abruptly. "Take five. Taesan, get it together."
He didnât respond, just stood there, panting, his hands on his knees. The others slowly moved to the sides of the room to grab water or stretch. Taesan didnât move. His mind was spinning, but not about the dance. His thoughts kept drifting to herâY/n. The look on her face when she walked away, the sound of her voice when she said she was done, the quiet resignation in her eyes. It haunted him.
It was all he could think about.
He pressed his palms against his eyes, trying to clear his head, but it was no use. The more he tried to shake it off, the more the memories flooded back. The last argument, the tension that had been building for months, how he had shrugged her off when she needed him most.
âHey, man. You good?â Jaehyun asked, cautiously approaching him with a bottle of water in hand.
Taesan shook his head slightly, forcing a deep breath. âIâm fine,â he muttered, though the tightness in his voice said otherwise.
âYouâre not,â Leehan said bluntly, walking over with the rest of the group. "Youâve been off all day. Whatâs going on?"
He opened his mouth to respond with something dismissive, something to brush them off like he always did when things got too personal, but this time, he couldnât. His chest ached too much. The guilt, the regretâit was all bubbling up inside him, and he couldnât keep it down any longer.
âIââ His voice cracked, and he quickly looked away, swallowing hard. He hated this. Hated feeling this vulnerable, especially in front of them.
His group members exchanged glances, clearly worried.
âI miss her,â he finally whispered, barely audible.
âWhat?â Riwoo leaned in closer, frowning.
âI miss her,â he repeated, louder this time, though his voice wavered. âI miss Y/n⌠so much.â
The room fell into a heavy silence, the usual energy drained as his words settled in.
âI screwed up,â he said, his hands trembling slightly as he raked them through his hair. âI didnât realize what I had until she was gone. And nowââ He paused, his throat tightening, the memories of their breakup flashing in his mind. âNow itâs too late. I hurt her, I wasnât there when she needed me, and she left. I donât blame her.â
His eyes burned, but he refused to let the tears fall. Not here. Not in front of them.
âI regret everything,â he admitted, his voice strained, raw. âEverything that led to us falling apart. I pushed her away, I was so wrapped up in my own life that I didnât see how much I was losing her.â His hand clenched into a fist. "I thought I could balance everything, but⌠I couldnât. I failed her.â
His group members stood in stunned silence. Taesan was always the one who kept things together, the one who didnât let his emotions get the better of him. Seeing him like this, so vulnerable, so broken, was a shock.
âI donât know how to fix it,â he continued, his voice barely above a whisper now. âI donât think I can. Sheâs done with me, and I canât blame her. Iâve been a terrible boyfriend⌠and a terrible person.â
Sungho stepped closer, resting a hand on his shoulder. âHey, man, donât say that.â
âItâs the truth,â he said bitterly, looking down at the floor. âI still love her. I never stopped. But sheâs gone, and itâs all my fault.â
âYouâre human, Taesan hyung,â Woonhak said, his tone gentle. âPeople make mistakes.â
âNot like this,â Taesan muttered, shaking his head. âShe waited for me. She was patient, and I took her for granted. I shouldâve been there for her.â
His group members shared worried glances, unsure of what to say. They had never seen him like thisâso lost, so regretful.
âItâs not too late,â Jaehyun offered hesitantly. âYou can still reach out to her, talk to herââ
âSheâs done with me,â Taesan interrupted, his voice flat. âShe said sheâs tired of waiting, and I canât blame her. I wouldâve left me too.â
He slumped down onto the floor, leaning against the mirrored wall, his head in his hands. The silence stretched on for what felt like forever, the only sound being the faint hum of the air conditioning in the studio.
His group members sat down around him, unsure of how to help, but unwilling to leave him alone. They could see how much pain he was in, and it hurt to see their usually composed, confident friend in pieces like this.
âIâm sorry,â Taesan whispered again, more to himself than anyone else. "Iâm so sorry, Y/n."
And for the first time in a long time, he let the tears fall.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
Through the whole night, youâre no longer in my sight.
Maybe everyone feels the same, but time goes by too fast.
The air backstage was charged with excitement, a low hum of activity as the staff rushed around making final preparations. Taesan sat quietly in a corner, his hands resting on his lap, staring at the floor as the muffled cheers of the crowd reached his ears. The energy of the arena was palpable, but inside, he felt a familiar weight pressing down on his chest.
It had been a few months since the breakup. Since the day sheâd said she was done. He hadnât realized how hard it would hit himâhow much heâd miss her. Even now, the thought of her still tugged at his heart, the hurt still raw even though time had passed.
"Taesan, you good?" Sungho asked, breaking through his thoughts as they finished a huddle nearby.
He glanced up, forcing a small smile. "Yeah, Iâm fine."
Theyâd asked him that a lot lately, and every time he said the same thing. He had to be fine. He had no other choice. Being an idol meant putting on a perfect face, no matter what was going on behind the scenes. It was all part of the job, and he owed it to his fans to give them everything he had. But the truth was, no matter how much time passed, she never really left his mind.
A staff member approached, headset in place, clipboard in hand. "Five minutes until showtime."
His group gave a collective nod, standing up to stretch and prepare. Taesan rose to his feet, brushing off his outfit, and took a deep breath. He could feel the adrenaline starting to build, the anticipation of the stage waiting for him. This was his world nowâhis stage, his music, his fans. He had to focus on that.
But as his mind drifted back to herâher smile, the sound of her laugh, the way she used to wait up for himâhis chest tightened again. The ache that hadnât fully healed throbbed beneath the surface, a constant reminder of what heâd lost.
"Focus," he whispered to himself, closing his eyes for a moment. He couldnât let this affect him now. Not here. Not when the world was watching.
The fans were already screaming, chanting their names, and he knew the second he stepped onto that stage, he had to be the idol they all adoredâthe one who smiled for them, who gave them his all, no matter what was happening in his personal life.
A deep breath. He opened his eyes as the staff gave the signal.
âItâs time,â one of his group members said, nudging him gently. "Letâs go."
He nodded, shaking off the last traces of his wandering thoughts. Putting on his best smileâthe smile that had charmed millionsâhe stepped in line with his group as they prepared to walk onto the stage.
The music swelled through the speakers, and the moment the curtains parted, a wave of sound crashed over them. The roar of the crowd, the flashing lights, the sea of fans waving lightsticksâit was everything heâd worked for, everything he loved.
He couldnât let them down.
As they walked out, the fansâ cheers grew louder, the energy electric. He felt it surge through him, pushing the heaviness of his emotions to the back of his mind. The stage was where he belonged, and for now, that had to be enough.
But even as he smiled, danced, and sang, giving his all to the performance, a part of him still carried her with himâher memory, her absence. He knew he had to move on, but it wasnât that simple. She had been a part of him for so long, and the love he had for her didnât just disappear. He was still learning how to live with that ache.
As the music thumped in his ears and the fans sang along to every word, he forced himself to be present, to let the performance carry him. But every now and then, between the beats, he could feel her shadow lingering in the back of his mind.
And when the concert was over, and the adrenaline faded, he knew sheâd be there waiting in the back of his mindâjust as she always had been.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
Finally, the wounds have scabbed over, but am I still thinking about it?
The room was dimly lit by the slivers of moonlight that slipped through the half-drawn blinds. The quiet hum of the air conditioner was the only sound breaking the silence of the night. Taesan lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling with a contemplative expression. The shadows cast by the moonlight danced across the walls, but his focus remained on the blank expanse above him.
He was in his shared dorm room with Woonhak, who was already fast asleep, snoring softly. Taesan had been lying awake for hours, his mind racing through thoughts he couldnât seem to quiet.
It had been five months since the breakup. He had made significant progressâhe wasnât as heartbroken as he once was, and his days were filled with the busyness of his idol life. But despite all that, thoughts of Y/n still occupied a corner of his mind.
He wondered about her often. What was she doing now? Was she happier without him? Was she moving on with her life, creating new memories, and finding joy in things that didnât include him? The questions lingered, and even though he tried to push them away, they always seemed to return.
He remembered their last conversation, the look in her eyes when she had ended things. It wasnât anger or resentment but a calm, resolute sadness. He had always wished he could go back and fix things, do better, be the person she deserved.
Turning his head slightly, he glanced over at the small bedside clockâit was well past midnight. He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he shifted uncomfortably. The ache of missing her wasnât as sharp as it once was, but it was still there, a gentle, persistent throb that reminded him of the love they had shared.
He recalled the little moments they hadâwalking in the park, sharing secrets, the way she used to laugh at his jokes, the sparkle in her eyes when she listened to his songs. Those memories were bittersweet now, tinged with the sadness of knowing that those times were in the past.
He wondered if she ever thought about him. Did she ever look back and remember the good times? Did she ever miss him, even just a little? The curiosity gnawed at him, but he didnât have any answers. He had made the decision to give her space, to let her heal and move on, but it didnât make the longing any easier.
He closed his eyes, imagining what it would be like to see her again, to talk to her, to hear her voice. He hoped that wherever she was, she was happy. He hoped she had found the peace and joy that they both deserved.
As he lay there, the weight of his thoughts became a little heavier. He had learned to live with the separation, to accept it as part of his journey, but that didnât mean it was easy. The nights like these were the hardestâwhen the world was quiet, and the only thing he had was the memory of what once was.
Eventually, he forced himself to turn away from the ceiling, pulling the covers closer as he tried to settle into a more comfortable position. It was a futile attempt to silence his racing mind, but he knew that some things would take time to fully resolve.
For now, he would focus on his work, on the present, and try to hold onto the hope that things would get better. And maybe, just maybe, someday he would get the closure he needed. Until then, he would carry on, living his life while cherishing the memories of what they once had.
He finally drifted off to sleep, the thoughts of her slowly fading into the background, though never completely out of reach.
ââ・đŚšÂ°â§â
I realize I can live without you, but I once decided to grow old with you.
How much loneliness and struggle remain pierced in my heart.
The crisp autumn air was cool against his skin as Taesan and his group members strolled down the street. Their faces were concealed behind masks and sunglasses, a necessary precaution to avoid being recognized. Despite their disguises, the atmosphere was relaxed, and they enjoyed the rare chance to go out incognito.
They chatted casually, their conversation punctuated by laughter as they approached a quaint cafĂŠ they had heard good things about. The cozy little place had a warm glow that contrasted with the chilly evening air.
As they reached the entrance, Taesan was the last to go inside. Just as he was about to cross the threshold, the door swung open and someone bumped into him.
Startled, he looked down, his heart skipping a beat when he saw who it was.
It was her. Y/n.
She looked differentâbrighter, happier. Her hair was shorter, framing her face in a way that seemed to enhance her natural beauty. And her eyesâthose eyes that used to be so full of sadnessâwere now sparkling with a joy he hadnât seen in a long time.
They locked eyes for a split second, and he felt a pang of something he couldnât quite placeâhope, regret, longing. He stood frozen, caught between the urge to speak and the overwhelming surge of emotions.
âOh, Iâm so sorry!â she exclaimed, her voice warm and apologetic as she quickly stepped back. She didnât seem to recognize him, her focus more on the minor collision than on the person she bumped into.
âNo problem,â he managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.
She flashed him a quick, polite smile before turning and walking away, her figure gradually diminishing as she moved down the street.
Taesan stood there, watching her retreat, his heart pounding. The moment felt surrealâseeing her like this, so changed, so content. It was as if the universe had given him one more chance to make things right, and he wasnât sure if he should let it slip away.
âHey, whatâs taking you so long?â Riwoo called out from inside the cafĂŠ. âLetâs go!â
Still reeling from the encounter, Taesan snapped back to reality. He turned towards the cafĂŠ, where his friends waited, but something inside him urged him to follow herâto find out if this new version of her was truly as happy as she seemed.
Without a word, he pulled his mask and glasses off and turned on his heel, rushing out of the cafĂŠ. His group members called after him, confusion evident in their voices, but he ignored them, his focus entirely on the woman who had just walked away.
He sprinted down the street, glancing around, his heart racing as he searched for any sign of her. The sight of her figure, walking away with a spring in her step, seemed to guide him forward, pushing him to bridge the gap that had grown between them.
Every step felt heavy with anticipation, each breath a mix of excitement and anxiety. He didnât know what heâd say or what he hoped to find, but he couldnât shake the feeling that this was a chance he couldnât let slip by.
Finally, he spotted her again, standing on the corner, waiting for a bus. With a deep breath, he approached, trying to steady his racing heart.
âY/n!â he called out, trying to keep his voice calm and steady.
She turned, a look of surprise crossing her face as she recognized the urgency in his voice. Her eyes widened as they met his, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. Everything around them seemed to disappear and it was only them there. Y/nâs look of surprise turns into a smile, her sparkling eyes meeting him.
âHi.â

synopsis â a drunken phone call leads you and taesan to unpack what was kept under wraps, and you both donât know where to stand on your relationship.
thereâs a thumping in your earâmaybe itâs from the bass that sounds through the walls or the jumping crowd that shakes the floor. the flashing lights have turned into hazy streaks of red and the smell of sweat seems to stick. yet, despite how uncomfortable the club has gone at this hour, you stay in place, swishing the contents in your cup before downing it.
you let out a quiet exhale, senses numbing and faltering the more you drink. but the thumping remains, and you donât know where itâs coming from.
ây/n!â your eyes snap towards julie whose eyebrows are scrunched in worry. âare you okay?â
you straighten your back against the wall. âme? yeah.â you lift the cup to her view, giving it a small shake to show itâs empty. âi just finished my drink, so i was letting the alcohol sit.â
julie chuckles before grabbing it from you. âokay, thatâs enough drinking. you,â her finger jabs at your chest, âneed some water.â despite the groan that leaves you, she latches onto your arm before dragging you away.Â
as you make your way back to the booth, the music seems to drown from the volume of your friends. taeraeâs laugh overlaps the melody and gunwookâs complaints take over the vocal chops. âoh, there you are!â jaehyun calls out the moment he spots you. âi thought you went to the washroom.â you plop down beside him. âmaybe even went for a smoke break.â
âhey, i donât smoke anymore,â you defend yourself.Â
âanymore, you just said.â
you roll your eyes before mumbling. âi donât even think iâm a smoker.â
before jaehyun can argue, julie leans over towards you two. âiâm going to get you water.â as sheâs met jaehyunâs intoxicated grin, she sighs before standing up straight. âmaybe i should be getting you some, too.â once julie takes her leave, you both erupt into drunken giggles.
the rest of your friends continue to enjoy the night; some continue to down more shots while others share the latest gossip. you and jaehyun donât exchange a word, shoulders pressed to each other as you stare off into nowhere. and while you attempt to enjoy the shared silence, the thumping in your ear remains.
âwhatâs on your mind?â
ânothing.â you look over at jaehyun. âjust alcohol.â
he frowns. âyou just⌠i feel like your mind has been going off somewhere this whole night.â
âliterally, iâm just spacing out.â you rip your gaze from him before you sink into the seat. ânothing to get too worried about.â
a beat passes.
âare you sure?â
with jaehyunâs persistence, you get off your seat. âiâm going to find julie.â despite his protests, you make your way through the crowd until you find yourself by the bar. you call on the bartender and ask him for another glass of whatever he gave you then. at his nod, you lean on the table as you wait for him to mix up another concoction that would keep your mind busy.
beside you are seats filled with flirting couples, whispering sweet-nothings and getting handsy in public. it seems that more people behind you are having the time of their lives chatting and grooving on the dance floor. yet, here you stand, hoping that the next glass would allow you to give you the enjoyment youâve been craving this whole night.
you thank the bartender the moment your order is served. before you can drink, someone shoves against you, causing it to spill. âhey, watch where youâre going!â as soon as you catch sight of the person, your stern expression suddenly shifts into shockâbecause he looks like him.
âsorry about that!â the stranger is quick to apologize, a regretful smile resting on his lipsâand it reminds you of his smile, the same one he would shoot at you at every party, every late night out, every time he managed to upset you. the person throws a quick glare at his friend before saying, âi hope i didnât spill your drink.â
at your silence, the stranger takes it as his sign to continue partying, but you remain frozen, staring at him. the similarities are uncanny; the same cat-like features with the exact fashion style that he has. and suddenly, itâs a supercut in your mindâof every stolen glance, of every hand held, of every lean in as he tries to listen to your whispers, of every short distance and shared silence spent staring into each otherâs eyes.
yet, those moments seemed like nothing to taesan.
once you down your drink, you move past the crowd until you finally exit the club. even outside, the thumping in your ear remains. the moment your hand rests on your chest, you feel the pounding in your chestâand you realize that itâs been your heartbeat all along.
you dig through your bag until you manage to fish out an opened pack of cigarettes, and you donât even think twice about asking a group of strangers smoking to light up your last cigarette.
first drag. you shut your eyes close as you lean against the brick wall.
second drag. your brain has turned cloudy and your heart rate has slowed down.
third drag. you still think of him.
you pull out your phone, greeted by multiple missed calls from jaehyun and julie, but you ignore them as you scroll through your contacts for taesanâs name. as soon as you spot him, your thumb hovers over his phone number.
and the next thing you know it, your phone is pressed against your ear as it rings.
your friends wouldâve shouted at you if they knew what you were doing. at first, they seemed to enjoy hearing the first few escapades you would share with him, until they asked you what you two were. they found out you were entangled in a life of mixed-signals, and your distress had only made them beg you to cut him off. you shouldâve listened to their advice. after all, they pointed out all his red flags in every problem, every story, you shared.
but you did none of the sorts.
the ringing goes silent. you almost think the call was dropped until you hear him clear his throat from the other line. âhey, howâs my sweetheart?â
you thought it was a common thing taesan did with friends but it came to your surprise that itâs the first time jaehyun has heard him refer to someone with that nickname. you donât know why he calls you that, and you never complainedâuntil now.
âwhy do you call me that?â
âsweetheart? because the first time i met you, you were sweet to me. youâve always been sweet to everyone.â
you shake your head. âno, not that.â
âwhat?â taesanâs confusion only has your heart rate racing once more. if he couldnât even understand what youâre referring to, what more did he think about where you two stand?
âwhy do you call me yours?â
itâs silent for a moment.
wind grazes against your skin as you take another drag. âwhy do you do that? why do you always reach out for my hand whenever we walk? or always wrap your arm around me?â when he doesnât say anything, you take that as your sign to continue. âwhy is it that you always bring me back to your place? why do you tell me to stay for the night? and why do you hold me so close every night?â you exhale. âwhy do you do all that?â
taesan continues to remain silent. âi just,â you slide down the wall, crouching as you look down, âyou say all these things⌠do all these things, and i get confused. whenever iâm with you, you always seem to get touchy with me, and you donât care whenever i say that your friends might get the wrong idea.â
it never helped that he boiled your statements into shameâbecause you could never be embarrassed of him. yet, he could never define what you two were. what didnât help is that he would always answer jaehyun with, âjust friends,â whenever his friend asks about you two.
âand taesan, i was willing to keep up with it until you wanted something more official. but the months kept going, and suddenly i was suffering from every moment you grew distant from me or i saw you getting touchy with someone else.â
you take another drag, and taesan still refuses to say anything.
âeverything you do makes me think that there is something going on between us, and maybe i am getting the wrong idea, but iâm begging that you tell me that iâm not just someone youâre just looking to have fun with. i canât continue with this if we donât settle on what we are.â
as seconds go by, you almost think that he dropped the call on you. but you know heâs still there. âtaesan.â
âyeah?â he finally speaks up.
âiâm only asking you one thing. what are we?â
and when youâre met with silence once more, you realize the answer all by yourself. if you two were something, he wouldâve interrupted you as you list down your questions. if you two were something, he wouldâve had no problem telling jaehyun what he thought about you. if you two were something, he wouldâve been able to answer you in a heartbeat.
ây/n, i enjoy your company. i like having you around and all, and you seem to understand me in a way that my friends donât.â
despite the seconds of silence that pass, you know thereâs another half to the sentence.
âbut iâm not looking for anything serious right now. iâm sorry you saw it that way.â
your friends are right. you shouldâve known better than to expect something out of this. it was doomed to fail from the start. maybe if you listened to your friends earlier on, you wouldnât have found yourself in too deep with someone who could never understand the boundaries.Â
âmaybe itâs best that we donât see each other anymore,â taesan says.
it pained you to hear him say that because at the start of each day, you would seek him out knowing youâd end it with him. it almost hurts imagining what tomorrow would be like knowing you wouldnât see him anymore.
but for once, he was doing something right.
you nod before saying, âokay. iâm sorry for thinking that.â
the call drops. he didnât bother to say goodbye.Â
as you take another drag, you stare off into nowhere while youâre left to replay everything that went down between you two. maybe you shouldâve done better to uphold those boundaries, ask him earlier on if he was interested in being in a relationship, and you couldâve avoided wasting your months on someone who couldnât imagine something with you.
you shouldâve been mad that this is the outcome.
âthere you are!â you whip your head to see jaehyun with a worried expression. âiâve been looking for you everywhere! you werenât picking up your phone. what are you doing outside?â
then, jaehyun sees the cigarette in one hand and your phone in the other, and his frustration dissipates. you rip your eyes from him, avoiding eye contact as you recount what went down within those months with taesan. when your friend crouches beside you, you try to keep your feelings at bay. after all, itâs better to keep everything to yourself.
yet, it takes jaehyunâs hand against your back for the tears to finally come out.
you disappointed your friends as you continued to see taesan without their knowledge. you disappointed yourself by thinking something could come out of your months spent with him.
but most of all, you disappointed taesan by becoming another person who caught feelings.
(and whatâs worse to say is that you hold out hope that heâd come running back to you. youd forgive, and forgive, and forgive. youâd accept him back with open arms no matter what.)
(so for now, youâre left looking for anything that could fill the void that heâs left until he comes back.)

i'll be the sun // taesan
The last person Taesan - the leader of the school band - expected to bond over music with was you, the head of the Maths club.
âł Characters: high school senior!Taesan x high school senior!female reader/you
âł Genre: high school au, rich kids au, slow burn, coming of age, fluff, some real-life bittersweet parts
âł Words:Â 8.1k
âł Warning:Â mentions of parental pressure, insecurities, reader had a fall-out with her ex best friend, crying
âł A/N: This story had the most votes in my recent poll, so here it is! I had a lot of fun writing it because music, Taesan and slow burn stories are a good combo.
This is also a spin-off to my Leehan story, but you don't have to read that one to understand Taesan's part

VOTE HERE IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN A TAESAN POV CHAPTER!
You couldn't say that you were looking forward to senior year to start. Moreso, you were looking forward to it to end.
After all, if it was over, you would be over your exams, and if the exams were over, you would be closer to your dream university. Until then, all the assignments seemed daunting, all the extracurricular activities seemed bothersome, and all the tests seemed life-changing. The last thing you expected was to fall in love along the way, but alas, life had a funny way to change your plans.
It all started on a Tuesday. At least, for you, it did.
Since you were the head of the Maths club, you left school later on Tuesdays because that's when you had your weekly club activity. After wrapping things up, you usually stayed behind to print out some more materials for next week and to organise the ones you collected. You also cleaned out the classroom you booked since the cleaning lady usually cleaned the basement during your time slot, not after.
So it was well past 7PM when you made your way back to the homeroom to pick up your PE bag because you didn't want to drag it with you all the way to the basement. You had some books left on your desk either way.
You stepped inside the classroom mindlessly, but you stopped dead in your tracks when you caught sight of someone already there. Taesan was leaning against his seat in the last row, playing on his guitar and bobbing his head to a song with his earphones in. He turned towards the windows with half of his body, so he didn't see you coming in. You noticed that he also closed his eyes while he was playing.
You weren't afraid of Taesan's reaction as per se, but he seemed like he was in his own bubble, and you didn't want to burst it. Alas, you had to get your bag and books, so you tiptoed into the classroom, hoping that the boy wouldnât hear you moving.
You scooped up your books and threw the sports bag over your shoulder, and not until you turned around, did you realise that you knew the song Taesan was playing. You knew it all too well, and the momentary realisation made you halt just in time for Taesan to open his eyes and take in your presence. He removed his earphones and gazed at you - a bit tentative, but mostly curious.
For a moment, you had no idea how to react. The boy was as unbothered as you were, but there was still some awkwardness lingering in the air, not because it was embarrassing to be in the classroom with someone you didnât usually talk with, but because you two were very different students on the verge of adulthood, and it was awkward to get caught up in a situation like this.
Not to mention that it felt a bit like dĂŠjavu, the flashback from the summer class trip pulling you back to reality.
âIt was âI Donât Love Youâ, right?â You found yourself asking, holding onto the straps of your sports bag to hold onto anything, except the memory from that night during the class trip.
Something flashed in Taesanâs eyes, and you knew immediately that you were right, though there was no reason to deny it. Even though Taesan was the leader of the school band, thus he knew quite a lot about the technical parts of making music, you had never heard him make a comment on anyoneâs music taste. What he thought internally was a different question.
âDo you listen to MCR?â He quirked an eyebrow, and still, there was no malice in his voice. If anything, his interest was piqued.
âYeah, I do.â
âCool. Me too,â he bobbed his head casually, and you were about to say that you had a feeling that he did since he was playing the bandâs song when the cleaning lady marched into the classroom, and made her presence very much known with her high-pitched exclamation:Â
âWhat are you doing here at this hour, kids? Go home!â
You heard Taesan scoff behind you, but you didnât object. You both packed up your stuff and headed out of the classroom, the now empty corridor filled with the cacophony of your footsteps. As far as you could remember, you had never walked side by side with Taesan like this. You had very different interests, he had his own friend group and well⌠you didnât, so your interactions were limited to strictly school-related things like group projects, helping out the boy with a Maths task, and being sat beside each other on a class trip.
Yet, it seemed that you now had something to talk about, and Taesan took advantage of that.
âWhatâs your favourite MCR song?â
You didnât even have to think twice about the answer.
â âTeenagersâ. You might find it funny, but whenever I step foot into the school, this song comes to mind,â you shared with him as you craned your head to look up at him, just in time to catch an amused smile playing along his lips. You had a feeling you didnât need to tell him why, all those teenagers at school really did scare you sometimes. âWhat about you?â
âMy favourite one is âI Donât Love Youâ, but since you recognised it, you must know it already,â he answered a bit shyly, scratching the back of his neck as if he was embarrassed.
It was a new sight for you since Taesan was usually straightforward and confident, someone who seemed to be totally at ease with himself. You sometimes envied the way he carried himself; so coolly as if nothing could bother him, and as if he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life. When you looked into the mirror, all you could see was anxiety and question marks floating around your head, and even though you thought you would gain some confidence from being a straight-A student, it did just the opposite. It fuelled your insecurities even more.
You directed a half-smile at the boy, not sure what to do with his reaction, and kept walking towards the entrance on the ground floor. Taesan inquired what kind of artists you listened to other than MCR, and he seemed so excited to talk about his favourite ones that he barely realised that he was waiting with you at the wrong bus stop. You knew that he usually went home with the bus departing from the stop opposite yours because having no friends anymore meant that you were observant like that.
âOh sorry, I have to go,â he excused himself when you pointed out that his bus was coming. âSee you tomorrow!â He bid his farewell while already running towards the vehicle, his guitar case rhythmically hitting his side and his school bag sliding down his right shoulder.
You watched him leave and take a seat on the bus while panting, his hair dishevelled, his tie loose around his neck. He was so different from you who knew the whole bus timetable by heart, never ever even ran after a bus, and always kept herself in check. However, as he caught you staring and gave you a little wave of his hand, you realised that deep down, you wished to be more like him.
And what was sad about it was that you knew that the only one holding you back from being more like him was actually you.
With the third week of the new term starting came the announcement of the random draw for the annual sportsâ day. KOZ International Highâs sportsâ day was your schoolâs version of ISAC, and even though you were all coming from influential families and all the students had probably enough money to attend the Olympics games in the VIP section, no one complained about the event. In fact, it was all the school magazine and school radio could talk about for almost two months, and everyone tried to put effort into practising for their own games to not lose face.
Each year, all the classes participated in four different categories - mixed 4 x 100 m relay, archery, swimming and dance -, going up against one another within each year. The only category that allowed students to sign up for was dance as only groups could participate, and they needed to be formed in time to seem somewhat professional. Each year, this was the competition everyone was looking forward to the most since usually professional dancers signed up - like Baekseung, Minwoo and Haruto who always won the dance category in your year.
For all the other categories, there was a random draw during homeroom where your teacher announced who should be participating in which category. For freshman and sophomore year, you had been selected for swimming, last year for archery, and this year, you were asked to do the mixed relay with Millie, Pierre and Taesan. Which wouldnât have been a problem if Pierre hadnât insisted on making a groupchat for you all and having practice sessions each week to prepare for the sports day at the end of October.
âWe can practise in our own free time. I donât understand why we should all be gathering in one place each week,â you pointed out matter-of-factly when you had your first âteam meetingâ on the day of the draw.
âBecause itâs about team spirit, you know? You might feel more motivated to run your part if you can see others cheering you on,â Pierre pointed out with unnecessarily grand hand gestures, and you needed to hold yourself back from rolling your eyes. However, you caught Taesan watching him with an unamused stare, and the sight made you feel less edgy.
âBesides, we need to practise giving each other the baton. Iâve heard that it can make or break a teamâs performance,â Millie chirped in, looking up from her phone on which she was typing up until this moment.
This was exactly the reason you had enjoyed doing archery and swimming for the past 3 years. You had been alone with no team to weigh you down or ask you for unnecessary team meetings. You had practised in your own time at your own pace, problem solved. However, the first obstacle came already when you realised that there was not a single day during the week when you could all be free after classes.
âCanât you just change the time for your band or club activity?â Pierre asked Taesan and you because you two had your extracurriculars on the same day, the only day when Millie and Pierre would be available.
âNo.â
âNo way,â you said at the exact same time as Taesan did, and you exchanged a glance, knowing all too well what those Tuesday after-school hours meant to both of you.
âWell, canât you schedule your family dinner for the weekend, Millie?â Pierre tried again, and the deadly glare she got from the British girl was more than enough to shut him up. Even though none of you had a scheduled weekly family dinner, you knew how it was with rich families: studies and family came first, anything else second.
You brought your notebook closer to your face to examine your notes, and tried to calculate which day could work for everyone. Apparently, none did, so you came up with a different idea:
âWhy donât we practise in pairs? Since you and Millie are free on Tuesday afternoons, you can practise then. Taesan and I are free on Thursday afternoons, we can do it then.â
âBut then it wonât be the saaaaame,â Millie pouted as if she had been told something awful, to which Taesan said dryly:
âThatâs the only option.â
That managed to convince the two of them, and after a few more minutes of painfully cringe team spirit quotes, you could go on your own way. You immediately bolted off, having had enough of this nonsense, but Taesan fell in step with you, and asked if Thursday was really okay with you.
âYeah, itâs fine. I just donât want to sacrifice too much time for this, so maybe 30 minutes will do?â
âI was just about to suggest that,â Taesan nodded, a lopsided smile invading his lips, and it felt so easy, so light to talk to him that it actually surprised you. For a second too long, you watched that smile bloom on his lips, and for the first time in four years, you took in the boyâs pitch-black locks that sat messily on top of his head, his equally dark almond-shaped eyes, the defined features of his that were becoming more prominent by the day the closer he got to adulthood, and there was his lanky built, tooâŚ
Taesan caught you staring, and you immediately averted your eyes to the mess of the corridor around you instead of the boyâs face because for the first time, it felt scary to feel so light beside someone.
Pierre was very much not the leader type, but he could complain and spam the group chat with gifs of idols running (and failing sometimes). You didn't know what he was doing with all those hagwon classes he claimed to have which made your 4-member practices not work out because you all had hagwon after school, but he was chronically online. You noticed that from the class group chat either way, but it was different when there were only four of you this time and one of them was Taesan, the other one you - the two students who rather focused on their own duties, not this particular group chat.
It was all what students talked about though. Haruto chirped everyone's ears off about their (supposedly jaw-dropping) choreography, Leehan couldn't stop pouting that he and the class president didn't get selected for running, so that they could be in the same team - since they had officially started dating after the summer trip -, and the usual banter between classes started about who would win. This year, Anton - the national swimming champion - didn't get selected for swimming unlike last year, so even that would be an unpredictable competition for the boys.
Honestly, you weren't one for running, but it was something that you could enjoy at times because it helped you concentrate on something other than school. Other times, running around the field wasn't enough to take your mind off the deliberating amount of school work. Especially not when your ex best-friend, Selina, showed up on the field to practise the choreography she and two other girls had come up with for the dance competition.
It was like she was a completely new person - wearing a noticeable amount of make-up instead of her usual no make-up make-up, trying out dancing that she had never dared before and hanging out with girls she had claimed to not particularly like -, and it hurt to see that. Not because you felt envious because of the 180-turn of hers, but because she had said on that one night during the summer trip that she was sick of feeling like second place beside you.
Just because you usually performed better than she did, you had never ever looked at her like a competition, like a charity case. What's more, you enjoyed studying together with her because you were around the same level. Even though your mother cared about your 2nd place at school (after the class president who was always 1st), you had never cared about Selina's 3rd or 4th place.
Clearly, she felt differently.
"Is everything okay?" Taesan's raspy yet gentle voice brought you back to reality, and you immediately turned your head towards him.
"Yeah. Everything's fine," you answered, though you could feel how uncertain the words sounded. How feeble you sounded. "I just... I think it's enough for me for today," you announced, looking down at your wristwatch that indicated that you had started running only 10 minutes ago. You were nowhere near the end of your usual 30-minute session.
"That's fine. I don't really feel like doing it anymore today," the boy shrugged nonchalantly, and you wondered if it was true, or if he was just trying to make you feel better. Either way, you felt grateful for his cool attitude, and went to the changing room without as much as looking back at Selina and the two other girls.
After you got changed and grabbed your stuff, you still found yourself walking towards the windows that were overlooking the school field. Selina did seem a bit awkward, her limbs not catching up with the rhythm, but you couldn't tell whether she actually enjoyed it or not, and that was what gawked at you. The fact that it had been mere months, and you already couldn't tell how she was feeling. Were you always this bad at recognising her feelings? Was this why you had never noticed her feeling like she was someone less worthy than you? Was she right? Had you really made everyone feel insignificant around you?
Something broke in you at the thought, and you found yourself breathless for a moment, holding onto the windowsill for support. You felt tears pricking your eyes, but you were too preoccupied with the tightness of your chest to care. You tried so hard to hold it back, to hold your feelings back ever since the term started that you believed that you could do it without breaking down.
Turns out you were wrong.
"Hey, Y/N! What's wrong?"
Even though Taesan was only a few steps away, his voice felt like it was coming from many miles away. You didnât look up at him, you didnât dare to because you didnât want him to see your tears. Have you ever achieved anything by crying? No. Just more humiliation and more disapproving words from your parents.
âGosh, this is so embarrassing,â you mumbled, hoping that Taesan would just leave. On the other hand, Taesan didnât budge for a few seconds, but then, he gently directed you to the closest room and closed the door behind you two.
Suddenly, you were surrounded by the smell of leather and there was this unmistakable smell of a storage room coming from all the different types of sports equipment you used for PE classes. You had rarely been here before since it was usually the class-president and vice-president who had the duty to collect the equipment for class, but it was quiet, and there were no curious eyes around, just Taesanâs concerned ones.
You were waiting - no, anticipating would be a better word - for the boy to speak up, to tell you to stop crying, but he stood there, looking up from under his long eyelashes, orbs shining worriedly. He then reached into the pocket of his bag and reached out a few crumpled yet clean tissues.
His gesture just made everything hurt tenfold.
âWhy arenât you telling me that itâs indeed embarrassing, and to stop crying?â You inquired, confused, eyeing the tissues in his hands. The boy looked taken aback by your question at first, eyes furrowed, creases deeping on his forehead, before his features smoothened out, softened to a gentle degree.
âI canât tell you how you should feel. If thatâs how you feel, I donât have the right to go against it, but personally I donât feel embarrassed by the sight of you crying,â he confessed so genuinely, so honestly that you teared up immediately. It was like something awakened inside of you, a part of you that you had hidden so deep that now that it surfaced, it felt unfamiliar and wrong.
You reached for the tissues to dry your eyes, but the tears just kept falling, and somewhere along the way, accompanied by your pained sobs, you found yourself telling Taesan the story behind your argument with Selina. He had been there at the peak of it anyway - just trying to tell you and your ex-best friend that you could come down for the bonfire, but Selina hadnât heard him behind her and kept on going. She had told you that you had been a terrible friend for not feeling sorry for her when she had always been a worse student than you, and that you didnât see that you made everyone feel insignificant beside you, thatâs why you had only her.
It had started so innocently, not even an argument, just talking about your senior year, but it spiralled down way too quickly, you had just stood there, listening to the girl you had called your best friend for 3 years tell you everything as if you had forced her to bottle things up. Back then, you had been too shocked to react in any way other than numbing your feelings, but now it all burst out. It was ugly, it was messy, but it was also very human, and Taesan didnât say a derogatory word, he hummed at times to indicate that he was listening, but let you speak freely.
Which was odd, and at first, you didnât even know what to do with it. Usually, your parents stopped you when you started complaining, and said that you shouldnât overreact things. However, he didnât interrupt you even when you were searching for words or blowing out your nose between sobs. He also kept giving you tissues, though he ran out of them after a while, and tucked his hands into the back pocket of his jeans to cover up his awkwardness.
By that time, you were feeling better but also worse. You were lighter than minutes ago, but you were also very, very tired. Maybe holding everything back was actually more exhausting than letting everything out in time.
âThank you.â
You let the words hang between you two, let Taesan ruminate over it, but he just nodded as if it was nothing, and said with all the confidence in the world:
âAnytime.â
You couldnât tell if it was intentional or accidental, but after a while, you and Taesan started walking towards the bus stop together on Tuesdays after both of you wrapped up your extracurricular activities. You talked about school to a certain extent, but more often than not, you exchanged song recommendations, sharing not just your favourite ones, but explaining which part was your favourite and why. Taesan was obviously more eloquent when it came to music, but he was always interested to hear your opinion, and didnât put you down even if the best you could mutter sometimes was that the song made you feel something, though you couldnât tell what.
You also had your relay practices on Thursday afternoons, and after the first two relatively quiet sessions, you developed the habit of cheering for the other when you measured your time, to see how much you improved. Pierre and Millie did the same, sharing their records with you in the groupchat, so that you could decide in which order you would be running at the event. It was going well, and even though it was exhausting to do this on top of schoolwork, at least you were with Taesan, not Pierre. Sharing silence with Taesan didnât feel awkward, but you were sure that it would have felt horrible with Pierre.
September passed some lingering sunshine onto October, but as the weather turned colder, you chose to run in the gym hall instead of outside on the sports field. That day, Anton and Jungwon were practising archery together while you were running, but you were the first two to leave with Taesan.
You had heard that it would rain that day, so you had packed an umbrella with you, and how smart of you! You noted that it was indeed pouring inside while walking from the changing room to the entrance of the school. Your steps echoed the way the raindrops were hitting the ground on the other side of the big windows, a constant, never-ending melody. Drip drop, drip drop, step by step, step by stepâŚ
You halted only when you pushed the front door open, and found Taesan leaning onto a pillar, his hands tucked into the pockets of his pants. The tip of his Converse shoes was not fully covered by the roof he was standing under, thus, it got dotted with raindrops. He didnât seem to notice. He did notice you though, and snapped his head back when he heard you take a few steps towards him.
âAre you waiting for someone?â You inquired casually. Not many of you commuted by public transport because most students lived in the student halls on campus. As it was an international high school, and the school attracted talent from all over the world, there were always enough rooms to accommodate every single student if they wished to make use of them. However, since you were from Seoul, and your parents liked to keep an eye on you during term time, you commuted, but it wasnât bad, only a 25-minute bus ride.
On the other hand, you had always seen Taesan take the bus, so you wondered if it was different this time. Or maybe he was just trying to wait out the rain.
âAh no,â he shook his head. âI just stopped to check my messages,â he held up the phone in his hand, and you nodded. He scratched the back of his neck, looking up at you with those big, affectionate eyes, and some icy part of your heart melted, drops of water accumulating around it like the puddles on the ground.
âDo you want to walk together? I have an umbrella,â you offered as you pointed at the big black umbrella in your left hand. Taesan looked at it, then back at you, and his lips curled upwards ever so slightly. From him though, that curve was equal to a grin.
So you opened your umbrella, holding it so that it would cover the boy who was taller than you, and it meant that you instinctively started leaning towards him. It didnât go unnoticed by him, not when your shoulder bumped into his as you came to a halt at a crossroads. You exchanged a gaze, something that you broke almost immediately because you were sure that your face was flushed. You usually didnât have a problem with closeness like this, but with him, it was different. It was somewhat more intimate.
âYour shoulder is getting wet,â he pointed out when he averted his eyes to your left shoulder, and caught sight of the raindrops sitting on your autumnal coat.
âItâs nothing, really.â
âLet meâŚâ He mumbled as he reached for the handle, and you let him hold the umbrella over you two instead. He was taller either way, you decided, but then you saw that it was his shoulder that got rained on because he was holding it over you way more than he did it over himself.
âGosh, you arenât any better,â you huffed, not letting it slide. You grabbed the handle of the umbrella, but Taesan didnât let go, so you just stood there, staring at each other in beautiful agony, your hands touching. Your heart fluttering, heat reaching your cheeks, you yanked your hand away, but stepped closer to the boy instead. âSee, we can fit under it if we stand close enough to each other.â
âIs it close enough now?â He quirked an eyebrow, and there was a twitch in the corner of his mouth. You couldnât decide whether there was a teasing edge to his words or a flirtatious one, and you werenât sure which one would be better.
You gulped, looking away, and noticed the traffic lights turning green. Hence, you prompted the boy to start walking, so you could fall in step with him. He shook his head, and you swore there was an amused smile playing along his lips, but you were too focused on your own thumping heart to care.
You asked Taesan for a new song recommendation if he had any, and you shared one of your new favourite songs, too. It was âBeachesâ by beabadoobee, and for some reason, this song reminded you of the times you spent with the boy: light-hearted, reassuring, comforting. Like the first signs of spring - awakening, blooming, bringing warmth - after a long winter.
Of course, you didnât tell him that, just that you liked the lyrics and the instrumentals used, but you were curious about his opinion. Thatâs what you did after all: sharing song recs, the other jotting it down in their notes app, listening to it and sharing their opinion on it either the next time you met in person or via Kakaotalk. This way, you always had something to look forward to in your days, and it was like a little safe haven from all the studying.
For the first time in forever, you didnât even go through the timetable in your head to calculate when your bus would be coming, you only noticed it when it was already there.
âSee you tomorrow,â Taesan said as he handed the umbrella back to you, and you found yourself smiling at his words. How reassuring it was to know that you would be meeting the next day as well.
âSee you tomorrow,â you echoed with a lighter heart, watching while he was running to the other side of the road to hide from the rain under the bus stopâs shelter.
It was odd how your perception of Taesan could change in a matter of weeks. You felt a certain kind of fondness towards him now that you couldn't really put your hand on because you had never felt this way before, but you wanted only good things for him. You really wished he could become a musician one day because he truly deserved it. His band 'Insomnia' already uploaded covers onto Youtube, and had a fair share of views, and you liked to indulge yourself in their videos more often than you would admit. Even though all of them were very talented - Jungwon on the drums, Gyuvin on the synthesiser, Yechan and Taesan on the guitar -, your attention always gravitated towards Taesan and his voice. His voice was similar to his personality: multiple layered with many unexpected charms and softness hidden behind that edgy tone of his.
Though Taesan once inquired if you heard their songs and you admitted that you did, you thought that it wasn't that big of a deal. Most girls - and even guys - at school listened to them because they were fairly popular. Though Leehan was the most popular boy in your year, followed by Yechan with his jokester personality and ever-growing Youtube channel, the other members of the band also had their fair share of popularity. Then, there was Anton who was a national swimming champion, so naturally, everybody knew him, but he didn't really let his presence be known outside of the swimming pool, so it was a quiet kind of fame in his case.
Not that popularity really mattered in your eyes, but you found it somewhat heart fluttering that Taesan would be interested in your opinion regarding their band, and your conversations didn't stop even after the sports day when you came in second with your team. Only Pierre made a ruckus about it though, you and Taesan merely exchanged high-fives, and agreed that you were glad that it was over.
However, you didn't think that the boy would one day ask you if you wanted to hear a snippet of a song he was working on.
âSure. If you don't mind,â you told him after a few seconds of silence while you were contemplating whether he was serious about asking for your opinion.
âIt's not finished yet, I'm still trying to see what direction it should go in, but I'm curious what you think about it,â he explained as he brought his earphones out of his pocket, plugged it into his phone, tapped something on the screen and reached it out to you.
It was just you and him in the classroom as usual on Tuesdays, Taesan sitting in the seat behind yours. You turned around to face him, reluctantly grabbing his earphones and putting them into your ears. There was just something so intimate about this gesture of his: sharing his own song idea with you and sharing his own earphones with you that you needed to pacify your crazily beating heart to actually hear the song.
The snippet that you heard seemed to be the beginning of a love song, and the first thing that came to your mind was how cosy it was, and how easy it was to listen to it. It was something different from Insomniaâs usually punk-rock heavy songs, but the instrumentals were still there, just softer. Like how he had been acting around you despite his seemingly colder facade. The lyrics were about keeping âyouâ in their memories, and promising to protect âyouâ which sent a chill down your spine because for a moment, it felt like he was really singing to you.
Taesan kept his eyes on his phone's screen to see where the recording was at, so he immediately looked up when the song finished. He quirked an eyebrow in question while you took out the earphones.
âSoâŚâ He cleared his throat before continuing, albeit rather reluctantly. âHow did you like it?â
âI liked it, I really did. It was softer than the songs you usually play, but I liked this side of you,â you remarked with a gentle smile, and something caught in his eyes which made you falter. If he was more shocked or just intrigued, you couldn't tell, but you... you were horrified. âI mean, this side of your music... uhmm... your music style.â
You were sure that you were blushing like crazy because how could that have just slipped out? Gosh, this was so embarrassingâŚ
âBut I would have made the beginning part a bit longer, so that it could stand out a bit more,â you added, hoping to save yourself from further embarrassment.
You averted your eyes to the desk instead of his face, so you couldn't tell how he reacted, but he jotted down your opinion nevertheless.
âThanks. I was actually thinking of changing up that part, so thanks for reinforcing that idea.â
You dared to look up at him at this time, and there was this soft smile playing along his lips that made your stomach do somersaults. It was so rare to see him smile like that, and when you were the reason for it, all of your tenseness regarding your own actions melted away.
âActually, I wanted to show you this song becauseâŚâ
âIs it you two again?â Came the cleaning lady's indignant voice from the classroom door, and you both snapped your heads back to look at her. Hands on her hips, eyebrows furrowed, the elderly woman didn't seem too happy to find you two in the classroom after 7 oâ clock yet again.
You had to suffer through a few more reprimanding sentences of hers while you were packing up your stuff to leave. Once outside of the school, you asked Taesan what he was trying to say before.
âAh nevermind,â he shrugged, looking away, and you didn't push him to tell you.
So you continued your walk to the bus stop like always, as if nothing happened, as if he hadn't just showed you a song that could make you question your own feelings towards him, and ultimately, his own feelings towards you.
On Tuesdays, it was usually you who finished sooner, and Taesan was already in the classroom by the time you made your way back there. Not this time though.
You managed to bump into the whole band when you walked out of the room you booked for the Maths club. Unbeknownst to you, you halted in front of the four boys, your eyes darting between Taesan and the rest of the guys.
âOh hey, Y/N!â Yechan cheered excitedly, grinning widely. You reciprocated his greeting and his smile, holding the notebook and the folder you used to your chest.
âDone with the Maths club for today?â Gyuvin inquired, and you immediately confirmed that you did, but then you realised that he didnât necessarily have to know what you were doing there. After all, if it hadnât been for Taesan, you wouldnât have known that Insomnia was practising on Tuesdays at this time around.
âHow do you know that?â
âOh well,â the boy boasted a childish grin, gazing at Taesan from time to time to signal his answer to you, but the head of the school band appeared nonchalant. âSomebody did tell us about it.â
âNot even just once, but multiple times,â Jungwon chimed in, sharing the boysâ teasing, and you had to sniffle a giggle at Taesanâs reaction. The boy tried so hard to seem totally unaffected by the obvious callout, but he was avoiding your eyes, chewing on his lower lip, his hands flying to the back of his neck to scratch it. Something that he did when he was ever so scarcely embarrassed.
âI see,â you hummed knowingly, amused by the guysâ little display of playfulness before Yechan smacked his head.
âOh guys, I think we need somewhere to be! You know, the thing I told you about before practiceâŚâ He announced out of the blue, and even though a flash of surprise crossed Gyuvinâs face, he recovered quickly, and both him and Jungwon acted like they knew exactly what he was talking about. Taesan, on the other hand, seemed awfully perplexed with his furrowed eyebrows and forehead creases.
âNow letâs go, letâs not waste any time. See you at school tomorrow, Taesan! And Y/N, of course,â Yechan hollered before exiting the scene, followed by the grinning Gyuvin and a smiling Jungwon who looked like he came straight out of a toothpaste commercial.
You watched them leave with a light-hearted smile, then looked at the boy in front of you who seemed awfully nervous. It was vastly different to who he really was - the usually cool and composed Han Taesan, the leader of Insomnia, someone who had never lost his patience before. Now, he seemed like a lost kitten who couldnât find their way around an alley, and the thought made your lips curve upwards.
âHeading to the bus stop?â You asked matter-of-factly, hoping to ease the slight awkwardness in the air.
Taesanâs shoulders visibly dropped when he caught your gaze, and he was about to open his mouth, but closed it in the end. You quirked an eyebrow, suddenly confused by his gesture, but then he spoke up:
âActually, do you remember that song of mine I showed you last time? Do you want to hear the final version? I finished it yesterday,â he suggested casually, but there was a hint of doubt lacing his words. On the other hand, you couldnât have been more sure of an answer, so you nodded, and followed him into the practise room they usually occupied.
Even though the room already boasted many musical instruments, the boy got his guitar out of his case with as much elegance as only a well-practised artist could. After setting it up, so that he could play comfortably, he started playing the song from last time. He did work on making the beginning of the song longer, and there were parts that he changed a bit, but overall, it had the same cosy vibe. The lyrics were also extended, him singing that he wanted to be a hero, an angel or whatever you wanted to call someone you could lean on to âyouâ, and when the words left his mouth, a pleasant shiver ran down your spine.
You were totally caught up in your feelings - as if the melody wrapped you up, and you were just spinning inside the hurricane of his, going round and round with each passing second. There was nothing else around you, just him and the song. It felt a bit like you were in your own world, something that just the two of you had, thatâs why the silence that followed the last accords felt so striking.
Taesan put his guitar to the side after he finished, and you found yourself clapping instinctively. You didnât think too much into the gesture, but the boy was fighting a smile, and eventually failed. A beautiful, grateful smile blossomed in its wake.
âBefore you ask, I liked it a lot. It felt light and comforting,â you admitted before asking about the inspiration behind the song because you were genuinely curious about it. He had mentioned before that a lot of his songs were inspired by books, movies and stories he heard from others, so you wondered if it was the same this time as well.
His eyes widened a bit hearing your question, and for a moment, you thought that you asked something intimate. Then, he sucked in a deep breath before confessing:
âIt was inspired by you.â
âBy me?â You repeated, exasperated.
âYeah. I started working on it after I saw you crying that day,â he started, and even though his voice didnât waver, you could feel that he wasnât completely confident in his answer. âI donât think I was the best at reassuring you back then, so I wrote this song because this is what I wanted to say then. Iâm just not really good with words, you see,â he let out a little, somewhat ashamed giggle by the end, averting his eyes from your face to the strand of cotton he was currently picking on his pants.
You were speechless for a few seconds, digesting his words - or rather his confession. You were convinced that he had been the best kind of reassurance he could have been at the time, and you appreciated that he had listened to you, that he had told you that you could feel however you wanted, he wasnât embarrassed by the sight of you crying, and then there had been his crumpled tissues, too.
The reason you didnât mind spending time with him, rather, you felt comforted by his presence was because of that night: because he had seen you at such a low point, he had heard your sob story regarding Selina, and he hadnât turned his back on you. Not out of pity because Taesan would be the last person who would do something like that out of pity, but because he truly wanted to get to know you better.
âI⌠I think you did enough back then. I was the one who felt ashamed because I thought I said too much, and I didnât want to open up to someone in caseâŚâ In case they would leave you like Selina did. In case they felt insignificant, and called you a horrible person. In case they broke your heart just enough to make you never want to lend it to another person, ever again.
Taesan hummed, playing with his fingers resting in his lap before finding your eyes, and he gave you that soft smile that you were so grateful to see on him.
âYou donât have to worry about that. As Iâve said in the song, you can lean on me,â he reassured you gently, and everything ceased to exist in that moment, even time itself. It felt like your heart - that had not been thumping before - now beat for the very first time, awakening from its deep, deep sleep.
And you welcomed this warm, fuzzy feeling inside your chest with open arms.
To be honest, you were scared of this newfound feeling at first. It was as if everything was so easy, so natural. Nothing ever felt forced with Taesan. Sometimes you had lunch together at the canteen, sometimes you didnât. Sometimes you stopped by each otherâs desk in the morning to talk, sometimes you didnât. Sometimes he asked you to help him with a Maths problem, sometimes you talked about anything but school.
On top of that, you were scared of this feeling because of the timing as well. Senior year seemed like the worst possible time to fall in love. However, after a while, you couldnât deny it. You tried, you really did try to push these feelings aside, and Taesan was gentle enough to not push you for an answer. Even though he hadnât confessed as per se, you highly doubted that a song like his would be inspired by someone who was just a friend.
As time went by, Christmas break rolled around, and you didnât see him for some time. Then, he didnât show up at school the following week because he had come down with a cold or so you were told by Leehan. So the next time you saw him, you had every reason to be looking forward to seeing him, and it was just your luck that it was a Tuesday as well, so you were more than sure that you would leave the school together.
You were right, but as you were leaving the building, you stopped the boy, and reached a knitted wool scarf out to him, something that matched his dark winter coat. Taesan eyed it for a few seconds before you broke it down to him:
âItâs for you. I wouldnât have to give you one if you just got yourself a scarf, especially after being sick last week,â you told him, and you realised that you were almost reprimanding him. How could you not though? He was still not wearing a scarf, and it was freezing cold now.
âIt was just a cold,â he justified, but there was an amused smile in the corner of his lips. Mind you, this was not a usual behaviour from you, but last week, you had enough time to ponder about his whereabouts before asking Leehan. Because apparently, it was embarrassing to tell you through Kakaotalk that he was sick, so you had to ask his best friend.
âStill, I was worried when you didnât show up on Monday.â
âOh, so you were worried about me?â He raised an eyebrow, playfully leaning closer to you while grabbing the scarf. For a few seconds, you two just stared at each other, stared into each otherâs eyes, and it was so easy to get lost in those deep, dark galaxies. Then, you willed yourself to tear your gaze away, and pushed the scarf into his hands once and for all, a bit more forcefully than you intended.
âThis is not funny, Taesan. I just donât want you to get sick again, okay? I couldnât help but worry about you last week, and Iâve missed spending time with you, so if you donât want to skip out on that, I suggest you take that scarf and dress warmly.â
âYou missed spending time with me?â Taesan repeated, the playfulness slowly leaving his voice, his tone taking on a more serious and curious layer. He eyed you for a good second before asking: âWhy?â
âBecause I like you, why else?â You threw your hands into the air, exasperated, because you had enough of his teasing for the day, but when you realised what you had just said, your hands flew to your mouth.
You didnât expect to tell him that so straightforwardly, let alone do this just in front of the school with the scarf you had gotten him still in his hand, but it just burst out, and there was no stopping it. Not that Taesan seemed to mind as his lips slowly curled upwards in a somewhat coy manner, and his reaction immediately made you feel relieved.
âThatâs good⌠because I like you, too,â he confessed, and put the scarf around your neck to pull you close to him. You smiled into his embrace as his arms slowly enveloped you, and although it was winter, it felt like being embraced by the sun.

[moved on] fwb!taesan x f!reader | 0.7k words shorter drabble inspired by the song moved on by laundry day!
my heart is saying things my mind just cannot speak ... i don't know what is wrong with me
taesan was an avoidant. he was good at ignoring things, pushing away the elephant in the room and pretending he doesn't care, that it couldn't bother him any less. he was good at ignoring the way your glances at him grew longer and fonder. he was even better at ignoring the way your doe eyes and soft hair made his heart race and stomach turn.
i'm clinging onto you just like i cannot breathe ... i don't know what is wrong with me
he knew it hurt you and he hated himself for it. you two had agreed to keep things between the two of you casual, seeking comfort in each others' touch in the late hours of the weekend and barely speaking the days in between. at the time it started, taesan's fleeting presence filled you up, bringing you out of the emotional trenches school had sent you into.
maybĐľ I'm the problem saying this is alright ... am i coming on too strong?
that was your first mistake -- you should've known you were setting yourself up for failure right then and there. letting the raven haired boy light up your day with a simple stroke of his hand against your cheek; your heart never stood a chance against the curse of time.
please make sure you call, just to say it's alright ... am i waking you all night?
as the days passed, it was taesan who became the reason you ached on late nights. staring at your still unread message, you wondered why things were like this. the boy's actions twisted your mind in ways he'd never know. at times like this your mind flashed back to the way he was after the sun had set, when it was just the two of you in your own world.
we get together but things might just be better if we moved on
the way his warm lips felt against your neck, the way his fingers burned into your skin, it was all imprinted on your mind. the moments you two shared felt so intimate, and they replayed in your mind over and over like a broken record.
turning around under your heavy blanket for the tenth time that night, you screwed your eyes shut as more and more memories invaded your mind and dreams.
the two of you had been watching a movie, your head laying on his chest and his hand rubbing your shoulder softly. eyes trained on your laptop, you almost missed taesanâs face in your peripheral vision, peeking over at you. he had a habit of doing this â you always assumed he was simply checking if you were awake. you always stayed silent, just smiling and blinking delicately at him.
âiâm awake, sanâ you donât know what made you blurt out defensively, but taesan shook his head softly at your words.
âi know, i was just looking at you.â your stomach still turns at the thought of the smile he was adorning as those words fell from his pretty lips.
his fond smile only looked wicked to you now, his words singing your skin and burning your resolve. how could he say all of that without feeling a single thing? you thought to yourself bitterly.
am i giving you up? ... changing seasons, can't believe it now i'm leaving you
sometimes taesan too thought he was insane. it stung to think about the sweet things he'd said or done to you -- it scared him how he meant it all completely. the boy didn't know what was wrong with him, why he couldn't just let the two of you be happy and togehter. he felt like a speed bump in the road, stubbornly and selfishly guarding his heart at the expense of your fragile mind.
hindsight is 20/20, and sitting alone in his cold and you-less bed, taesan knows what he should've done and said to you, what was staring him in the face this whole time. he was utterly in love with you and he didn't even realize.
bitterly, he pulls his phone out of his pocket and reads over your last text to him again.
[2:47 a.m]
y/n: i can't keep doing this anymore. i'm sorry, let's stop seeing each other.

a/n : im back w a taesan fic FINALLYYY!! pls listen to this song while reading!! moth to a flame by the weeknd is what inspired me! hope u all enjoy đ
all your friends say hes the one, his love for you is true.
SHE COULD NOT STOP thinking about the way his hands cupped her face, smashing his soft plush lips against hers as they kissed roughly to the point it left her lips all swollen and bruised the next morning.
or the feeling of his fingertips grazing over her waist before giving it a tight squeeze as he pressed her up against the wall, nipping at the thin skin of her neck.
god, y/n could think about him all day long.
ây/n! you should totally go for him!â
y/n snapped out of her daydreams, her eyes trailing from the wall, to her friend who sat in front of her. the girl blinked a few times, realization slowly hitting her.
she had just dozed off for the third time that day. she needed to get a hold of herself.
y/n rubbed the nape of her neck with a soft embarrassed chuckle, tilting her head to the side with slight shame.
âsorry ⌠what are we talking about again..?â
wonyoung groaned as she rolled her eyes in annoyance. âhellooo, weâre talking about myeong jaehyun!â she reminded, her lips pouted slightly as she frowned at you not listening to her.
right, the upperyear myeong jaehyun. the captain of the soccer team and the schoolâs sweetheart. y/nâs friends had been trying hard to set the two up after finding out that jaehyun had just a little crush on you, a little meaning a lot.
you were pretty, kind, and lit up a room with your warm smile. how could myeong jaehyun not fall for a girl like you?
despite all the attention she received at school, she showed no interest in any of the boys around her. sure jaehyun was good looking, played soccer, and had such a good personality, but y/n showed little to no interest in the soccer boy. the girlâs friends had always wondered why, but never wondered because of who.
âhe obviously likes you y/n, why dont you just give it a shot?â minji piped in, finally lifting her nose out of her book she had been hooked on for days.
y/n shook her head with a sigh, reaching into her bag to bring out the compact mirror she planned on using to make herself look âbusyâ.
âim not interested in myeong jaehyun.â you stated, staring at the three girls surrounding you before opening up your mirror as your eyes scanned your face.
the lipstain was rubbing off, slightly revealing your bruised lips. y/n had decided to wear a darker plum coloured lip shade in attempts to hide the bruising. it seemed to be doing a good job considering none of her friends had noticed. at least the concealer covering your dark hickey was holding up.
âbut y/nnn! myeong jaehyun is so good for you, hes perfect!â sullyoon beamed excitedly, her eyes watching as you swipe the soft applicator across your bottom lip while concentrating on your reflection in the mirror.
âcant talk, busy.â you mutter, causing all three girls to let out an exasperated groan.
âmyeong jaehyun huh? i agree.â
y/n knit her eyes brows as she gazed up, only wishing she hadnt. it wasnât odd for him to show up whenever y/n was hanging out with her friends. his best friends, jungwon and leehan, were friends with hers, wonyoung and sullyoon. but no matter how many times she could see him in a day, she would always be taken by surprise.
âsee, even jungwon agrees.â minji sighed, shaking her head as the three boys came to sit with the girls.
y/n felt a shiver go down her spine seeing him take a seat diagonally across from her, fighting every urge she had to not look his way.
âjaehyun is a good guy, right taesan?â
leehan nudged his friends shoulder to get his attention, watching as the boy shrugged his shoulders with a disinterested nod. âhes alright.â
ây/n, hey!â
speak of the devil.
the group look up to be met with none other than a smiling myeong jaehyun, whos attention was all on you. it took your friends everything in them to not stop squealing, hitting each other in excitement.
y/n smiled lightly back at the male, slowly scooting down in her seat to make room for the other. âhi jaehyun, no soccer practice today?â you question as the male takes a seat next to you happily.
jaehyun shakes his head like an obedient puppy, gazing at you with nothing but love in his eyes. ânot today, i thought id come see you.â he chuckled, as you lightly smile in response.
âso cute âŚ.â wonyoung whispered to minji next to her as they fangirled at the sight of you two together.
no one seemed to notice the smirk playing over taesans lips, as he watched you and jaehyun interact closely, and carefully.
no one seemed to notice but you.
ŕł
but does he know you call me when he sleeps?
âso, myeong jaehyun huh?â
you roll his eyes at the mention of his name, running a hand through your hair as you flipped onto your stomach, laying on the bed with your feet in the air.
âdont mention his name, taesan.â the girl sighed, resting her chin against the palm of her hand.
you could hear taesans sinister chuckle on the other side of the line. you can just see the stupid smirk he has on his face.
âwhy? i wanna talk about it.â taesan hummed in response.
âdoes he know about me?â
y/n shook her head with a light huff. in all honesty, you were a bit upset at taesan. y/n didnât know why or how she ended up on the phone with him at 1:16 am. but thats how every night went. well, those nights they werent together.
but does he know the pictures that you keep?
y/n had been spending her night peacefully on her bed, soft music playing from her speakers as she scrolled through her phone aimlessly, before finding herself going through her photos. more specifically, the photos you and taesan had taken together the morning after a steamy night. all bundled in your bedsheets, naked, and holding each other close.
thats how you found your way to the phone app, pressing on taesans contact.
in all honesty, you were upset at him after finding him in the washroom of a party kissing another girl. after catching him you two broke out in a huge fight. its not the first time it had happened. you two were nothing but friends with benefits. but of course, as always someone catches feelings within that relationship. that someone was you.
âim not talking about this with you taesan.â you reply shortly, and bluntly. taesan could tell you were upset.
âare you still upset?â taesan questioned in a taunting and irritated tone. that was enough to get you all riled up again.
âi dont know, you tell me.â she spat viciously, hearing a scoff coming from the male on the other line.
âoh dont start-â
âyou were supposed to be with me that night!â you shouted at him, your hands catching a hold on one of your stuffed animals as you squeezed it to your chest for comfort, sitting up from your laid position before taking a deep breath, âbut no, like the dick you are you just had to be fucking another girl when you told me you would stick by me that night- you know what i dont know why i trusted you. this always fucking happens with you!!â y/n finally concluded, feeling herself get choked up with tears at the end.
but does he know the reasons that you cry?
you were crying again. crying all because of han taesan.
âthe fuck did i tell you that night, y/n?â taesan spat, causing you to almost flinch from the venom dripping from his voice.
âstop acting like weâre dating.â
y/n held her breath at his words. right. they werenât dating. she had somehow forgot that when spilling out her emotions just now.
âyoure really fucking annoying, you know that? god. we arent even dating and youâre just so suffocating.â taesan groaned.
his words hit her like a stone. tears were spilling from her eyes as she tried her best to keep quiet. she could not let han taesan hear her cry, although she knew he knew.
âweâre over taesan. i fucking mean it.â your shaky voice concluded. you couldnt take it anymore. you needed to be free from satan himself.
âbaby, there wasnt even a beginning to start with.â
âgo to hell.â you growled, ready to just hang up the phone before taesan had spoke, causing you to pause in your tracks.
âno matter how much love he gives you, youâll always come back.â taesans voice spoke eerily, causing you to run a hand through your hair frustratedly, a sniffle coming from you as you continued to silently sob.
you knew it was true.
âyouâll never escape me.â
ŕł
buzz, buzz, buzz!
y/nâs phone would not stop buzzing as the girl stared at the device that lay on her bed in distress. no. you couldnt. you cant answer that damn phone.
you could not give in to han taesan this time.
ây/n!â sullyoon, snapping y/n out of her thoughts as she gazed her attention up towards the girl appearing from out of her closet. âshould i wear this tonight?â the girl questioned, as she smiled, nodding her head in approval.
âyouâll look so pretty yoon.â you hummed, as she nodded her head retreating back into the closet.
it had been two weeks since your last argument with taesan over the phone, and two weeks since you last spoke to him.
it had never went on for that long. y/n was scared. no matter how badly taesan treated her, she was scared of losing him.
so, she decided to spend a lot more time with jaehyun.
she knew it was wrong, using jaehyun to get over taesan, as well as get back at him. all of her friends approved of this sudden change. they really believed jaehyun was the perfect guy for her.
âyour boyfriend is the best y/n, tell him thanks for getting us into this party.â minji hummed, focusing as she dabbed eyeshadow onto her eyelid.
y/n shook her head with a soft sigh and an eyeroll as she sat at her vanity, gazing into the mirror and lightly curling her hair.
âhes not my boyfriend.â
âyet.â wonyoung intervened, spritzing perfume on her neck before looking at you. ânot your boyfriend yet.â she snickered.
after an eternity y/n and the girls had finally finished getting ready, making their way inside the huge house party as the booming music rang through their ears.
âoh! guys its jaehyun- y/nnn its jaehyunnn!â wonyoung slurred, as minji and sullyoon squealed in excitement.
maybe you four went a little hardcore during your pregame.
âhey ⌠you guys okay?â jaehyun chuckled lightly, eyes widening at the sight of you stumbling.
jaehyun quickly wrapped his arms around your waist, steadying your balance. you, drunk and in heels was not a good combination.
y/nâs red face gazed up at jaehyun, a tipsy smile playing over her lips. âjaehyun!â she cheered, wrapping her arms around the males neck latching onto him with her dear life.
jaehyun was flustered. it was her first time making physical contact with him. although you were drunk, he loved it.
âhey y/n,â jaehyun chuckled, snaking his arm around your waist as he gazed down at you with a blush over his cheeks. âcome on, lets get you some water.â jaehyun suggested, guiding you through the busy crowd.
âno!â you exclaimed, grabbing jaehyuns hand before dragging him with much force towards the dance floor. âcome on, lets dance.â
it didnt take much for jaehyun to give in, and forget about grabbing the drunken girl a cup of water. here he was, dancing with you on the dance floor as your bodies pressed against each other from the crowd.
you knew he was watching.
there taesan stood, a drink in his hand as he leaned up against the kitchen doorway, watching you and jaehyun like a hawk. his grip on his red solo cup grew tighter, and tighter as he watched you and jaehyun get closer, and closer.
he didnt know why he was so upset. taesan swore he only liked y/n for casual hookups. but no, with the feeling of jealousy raising inside of him, he didnt have time to think and reason with himself.
âhey, han. you okay?â a voice spoke, although not catching taesans attention whatsoever as his eyes remained on the pair.
taesan downed his drink in one harsh gulp, wiping the alcohol spilling from the sides of his mouth before throwing his cup aside.
âim fine.â he stated coldly, fiercely making his way towards you.
taesan shoved past the crowd aggressively causing others to stumble at the determination. the boy grabbed jaehyunâs shoulder, pulling him away from you with much force.
âhey- what the fuck man??â jaehyun shouted, displeased. but it didnt phase taesan, who was busy staring down at the girl.
âyoure coming with me.â he growled, causing you to raise your eyebrows in shock.
taesan grabbed your wrist, making his way through the crowd as he yanked you with him.
âhey!- hey taesan- ow! stop!!â you shouted, although taesan paid no attention to your discomfort.
or tell me does he know where your heart lies?
y/n took a deep breath of crisp air when finally out of the crowd, gazing around curiously in attempt to identify where they were headed.
âslow down tae!â you exclaim, drunkly struggling to keep up with his pace.
it all happened so fast.
taesan grabbed the bathroom door, yanking it open as he pulled you inside and shoved you up against the wall. the taller then slammed his hands on either side of your head, causing a small flinch.
you would be lying if you said you hadnât found this action deadly attractive.
âwhat the fuck was that stunt you pulled over there?â taesan questioned, cocking his head to the side in a taunting way.
âwhat are you talking about? why does it matter to you.â y/n hissed back, gazing into taesans eyes daringly.
your reply only infuriated him more, lifting a hand from the wall as he harshly grabbed your face, a sound in surprise escaping past your glossed lips.
âfuck. you drive me crazy.â
with that, taesans lips came crashing down onto yours. the two shared a heated, yet passionate and longing kiss. a kiss full of desire, and desperation. it was different from all your other kisses. a good different.
âi want you, y/n. shit i want you so bad.â taesan muttered into the kiss as you felt the butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
god this boy will be the death of you.
taesan wrapped his free arm around your waist, grazing and touching you as much as he could as his hand landed on your ass, giving it a tight squeeze. y/n knit her eyebrows, moaning into the messy kiss and arching her back in response.
âthen have me. for real.â you replied, causing him to pull away. your eyes trailed down to his swollen lips, seeing your tinted lip gloss smeared all over his chin. it was quite a sight to see.
taesan stood quiet, his heavy eyes gazing into the girls as nothing but the muffled booming music and their heavy breaths echoing through their ears.
âyoure mine, l/n y/n.â taesan finally stated. âyoure mine, and no one elseâs. you hear me?â the male spoke, his hand tugging your face closer to his.
y/n nodded in response, a playful smile over her lips. âi hear you han taesan.â
where it truly lies.

this wasn't supposed to be about you, but i made it about you.
⌠pairings: taesan x reader, genre: angst | wc: 249 ⌠@onedoornet
very much inspired by jonny (and jonny reprise) by faye webster please ignore any errors! thank you :)
My Type.
They always ask, âWhatâs your type?â or âWhat do you look for in a relationship?â.Â
Questions Iâm scared of answering, because, what should I say when youâre the first thing I think about? I donât mean to, but it keeps returning to you. I know weâre done, I know that thereâs nothing between us anymore, so why? Why did you treat me so well? Why were you everything that I wanted? I was ready to be your everything. So why, why werenât you ready? Taesan tell me, did you ever love me? You never told me so I wouldnât know. I canât even be in my own room without thinking about you. All because you told me to paint these stupid walls white. You told me,Â
"A white wall may seem empty. But it's ready to be filled. And, in its readiness, needs nothing. It stands complete"
God, why the hell did I listen to you? Why the hell did I ever love you? Why are you still everything that I want? Why are you happy and going on with your life while Iâm still here? Stuck in a room with white walls. The same room where weâd watch movies on my bed, paint empty canvases on my floor, hang up our photos on top of my bed, figure out outfits together, sleep together, and discuss our future together.
I still love you Taesan. Those questions were never about you, but I guess it is now.
authors note: helloo! i'm back >< released this as a little sawry for not releasing in a while :c hope you like it! i love jonny by faye webster so i decided to write a little something inspired by it.

The Truth Behind the Dare
Gender Neutral Reader! X Taesan! non-idol! Best friends to perhaps something more?
Warnings: 1 mention of the word sister, 1 curse word. Genre: slight angst, slice of life, and romance. WC: 579
Synopsis:
Youâve been best friends with Taesan for as long as you can remember, and throughout the years, thereâs been one thing that never quite added upâTaesan has never dated anyone. Whether it was setting him up with your friends or pushing him to go on blind dates, he never seemed interested. You figured he just wasnât into dating, so you let it slide.
One lazy afternoon, the two of you, bored and looking for something to pass the time, decided to play a game of truth or dare. It started off as harmless fun, but when a simple dare to call his crush takes an unexpected turn, youâre left questioning everything you thought you knew about your best friend... and maybe even your own feelings.
As boundaries blur and emotions come to the surface, you both find yourselves facing the question: Could there be something more between you and Taesan?
âOkay, your turn, Taesan! Truth or dare?â I asked, grinning as I leaned in closer, ready for whatever heâd pick.
He thought for a moment, then shrugged. âHmm... let me think... Truth!â
I groaned dramatically, laughing. âBOO, you whore, you bore me.â
He rolled his eyes but smiled. âAlright, fine. Dare. I choose dare.â
Finally. I smirked, knowing exactly what I wanted him to do. âFinally! Now I can pick something interesting. I dare you to call your crush.â
His face dropped, and he immediately shook his head. âWhat? No way, I can't.â
âWhy not?â I pressed, tilting my head, curious about his sudden hesitation.
âSheâs probably sleeping or something, so it doesnât matter,â he muttered, trying to avoid the challenge.
âExactly. So do it,â I teased, nudging him.
âNo, I donât wanna,â he mumbled, clearly uncomfortable.
I sighed, frustrated by his reluctance. âUgh, just do something spontaneous for once, Taesan, please!â I dragged out the last word, hoping to convince him.
He looked at me for a long moment, then gave in with a sigh. âAlright, alright, I will. Just promise me you wonât freak out, please.â
I raised my hand. âI wonât! Pinky promise.â
He pulled out his phone and began scrolling through his contacts. I leaned in slightly, noticing someone pinned at the top, probably one of our close friends. But then, his entire mood shifted. He grew silent, staring at his screen before tapping on a contact. He hesitated for a moment, and then, without looking at me, he hit the call button, covering the name with his hand.
Thatâs when my phone rang.
I glanced down, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the name on the screen: "Taeđť." I froze. He wasnât calling someone elseâhe was calling me. Slowly, I lifted my eyes to him, but he was staring at the floor, avoiding me completely.
My chest tightened. I didnât know what to say. Quietly, I reached out, moving his hand from his face and gently placing my hand on his chin, turning his face toward me. He still wouldnât look at me. His eyes were glossy, and it was then I realized... heâd been crying.
"Taesan, look at me," I whispered, both of my hands now cupping his face.
When he finally met my gaze, his expression broke my heart. He looked terrified, like he was bracing for the worst. I hadnât even said anything yet, but the fear in his eyes was overwhelming. I suddenly remembered all those times Iâd pushed him to talk to other people, trying to set him up with my friends. I did it because I thought he saw me like a sister. I never considered anything more.
"Why are you crying?" I asked softly, brushing my thumb against his cheek.
His voice cracked as he spoke. âYou're going to reject me... arenât you?â
The pain in his words hit me like a punch. âWho said I would?â I replied, surprised and confused by his assumption.
âI donât know,â he murmured, wiping at his eyes. âI just assumed... You always try setting me up with your friends, even though the only person I want is you.â
My breath caught in my throat. He had wanted me this whole time? I stared at him, my heart pounding. âYou shouldnât assume before getting an answer, Han Dongmin,â I said, my voice barely steady, trying to keep my emotions in check.
In that moment, everything between us shifted.

linger
synopsis â being wrapped around dongminâs finger had a price, one you never thought youâd have to pay.
pairing â situationship!han dongmin x gn!reader
genre â angst
warnings â cheating-ish, taesan is a jerk, reader is somewhat âblinded by loveâ (until they arenât)
word count â 2.2k
notes â this was inspired by linger by the cranberries ! hope you guys enjoy <3 (i also listened to all too well 10 min version a majority of the time i wrote this so thats also a half-decent alternative)
the magnetic force that pulled you towards dongmin was inexplicable. there was something that both your heart and mind couldnât resistâsomething that made him so alluring. it was as if all of the desire in the world was concentrated within the cells of his skin; even a mere brush against him harnessed the ability to spread his beautiful poison.
akin to most others, you couldnât resist the temptation of beauty, even if it was tainted. once youâd pricked your finger on the venomous spindle, you fell into an everlasting slumber; one that took on the form of han dongmin.
your days resembled a nightâs dream by virtue of dongminâs new presence in your life. his aura exuded tranquility, and it seeped into your own. still moments were common with him, which led you to what you felt was a well-needed state of peace. you had thought that he symbolized what was constantly missing from your life: grounding.
in your eyes, he was nothing short of shade that shielded you from the blistering heat of a summer day. he reeled you back in when youâd float too high, forbidding you from suffocating in the fog of the clouds. he protected you from your own flame, preventing it from growing too big. he had provided a piece of himself that you never had yourself.
although he completed your puzzle, you had not the slightest idea of if you completed his. while all of your barriers were broken, his were built with the strongest steel. beyond the shield of his smile was something you couldnât fathom, something out of your bounds.
even if the unknown tore you apart, everything within your reach was more than enough. heâd always put you back together with the kiss of his lips, and keep you whole with the intertwining of his fingers with yours. ignorance had brought you bliss, serving it to you on a gold-plated platter.
for all of everything intimate about you and dongmin, there wasnât a label that you could plaster onto the two of you. there was nothing stronger than âweâ or âusâ that could define you. you teetered between âsomethingâ and ânothingâ, and you hoped for nothing more than to be something.
something was a craving that you couldnât satisfy. something kept you up at night, and it occupied every one of your dreams, whether it be under the sun or moon. something was what carried you to the same park you and dongmin had met at, strolling in your lonesome on the same rock path two seasons later.
you were there in early spring, minutes before you and dongmin had met. you were walking through the path for a much different reason then, unaware of the meaning itâd hold months later.
you had found a wooden bench, putting your walk on pause as you sat down. you listened to the sounds of spring; the songs of birds, the march breeze, the families enjoying the day, and the crunch of the rocks becoming louder as someone had made their way towards you.
the moment you had turned your head to look was when your whole world shifted without you knowing. it was then that dongmin had made his very first appearance out of many in your life, and flashed you a very first smile in the same manner.
now, more than half a year later, it was you who was smiling at the memory. you stared down at the rock path, now covered in the warm autumn leaves. the sound of the crunch beneath your feet was different, each step leaving behind crushed leaves instead of dirtied rocks. everything had changed over the seasons, but the picture-perfect visual had stayed the same.
as you neared the bench you held close to your heart, your spirits lowered as you spotted a couple seated on it. they had their hands entwined, and you could hear them laughing together. you felt an envious pang in your chest, wanting nothing more than to be there with dongmin.
your steps became lighter, the coupleâs conversation gradually becoming clearer. your face grew pale as you slowly came to a horrifying realization: you could recognize the boyâs voice anywhereâit was the same voice that belonged to the same boy you were there because of, the same voice that charmed you on that same bench months ago.
even with your silent begs for it to not be true, your heart dropped as his face came into view. dongmin was there, sat on the very bench your story had begun on, but with another girl; one that wasnâtâand would never beâyou.
in that moment, your whole world shifted again, but you could feel it this time. you could feel your heart get crushed in the same way the leaves did, and you could feel your whole body go cold in the same way the autumn air was.
you felt heavy, heavy in a way that weighed you down both mentally and physically. your sorrow surpassed your feelings of envy by tenfold, and your feet felt too sunken into the ground to move. you werenât nearly strong enough to, yet you were forced to carry the sudden baggage of everything that their simple gesture held.
that simple gesture that held the whole universe to you was so easily thrown out the window. what you knew now broke you, and what used to keep you whole was the culprit. knowledge brought you grief, serving it to you on a rusted platter.
too close to turn back and mind too clouded to think straight, you brought yourself up to dongmin. in the same way you had turned to him in spring, he turned to you now, expression unreadable.
everything felt all too familiar, and it scared you. it felt like a sick, twisted repeat of your meeting in march, and you didnât know what you did to deserve it. you swore that you didnât do anything to hurt him, yet he walked all over you as if you were the rock path.
âdongmin?â the vulnerability in your voice was clear, but his expression wasnât.
dongmin sighed, and looked at the girl next to him. she was perplexed but compliant when dongmin slipped his hand out of hers, standing up. âiâll be right back.â
as soon as he stood, he signaled you to follow him before walking off. you quickly began to trudge after him, guilt rising inside of you. you fiddled with your fingers, now regretting your confrontation.
dongmin led you far enough to where the bench was still in sight, but the abandoned girl wouldnât be able to hear your conversation. as soon as he stopped, he turned to you, expression blank.
âwhat?â he stared you down, running a hand through his hair. when you didnât say anything, he crossed his arms. âwhatâs the problem?â
you were just as dumbfounded as that girl; you thought it was clear as day why you were upset. âwhyâwhy were you holding her hand?â
he deadpanned. âi still donât get it. why is that a problem?â his voice was painfully monotone, and for the first time, there was nothing beyond the surface.
he wasnât upset with you, and that only pained you more. he didnât care one bit, and that displayed just how little everything meant to him. even if he didnât give it a second thought, you were still in so deep. even now, all you wanted was to be with him.
âbecause weâre a thing! weâreââ you stopped yourself short, realizing your mistake. you rewound to the sole reason you went to the park, the blood draining out of your face.
something; the one thing you never got from him. the one thing you endlessly longed for, but never came to fruition. your relationship with dongmin was the one bud that never blossomed back in spring, remaining dormant for months as if it were frozen in time.
the day you met dongmin was the closest to something you had ever gotten from him, and you were desperate to just feel as if you had it. you knew youâd never have it in your grasp, but even just the touch of your fingertips would be enough. instead of that, you were forced upon the truth; something that you never knew youâd face.
dongmin quirked an eyebrow. âwe were never a thing,â he smiled at you, but it didnât hold the same meaning it usually did. rather than comforting, it was mocking. for once, he resembled the dark surrounding the light; not the other way around.
all you could do was stand there, eyes slowly welling with tears. you hated that you were such a fool for him, almost as much as you hated how you were such a fool for the idea of being with him.
âgod, donât cry,â he sighed, throwing his head back lazily. âweâre nothing now, and we were nothing before. you never said it was a problem, so what do you even want?â
âyou! i just want you!â your voice broke as your tears began to flow, emotions letting loose. âi always did, and i still do!â
âwell, you have meââ
âobviously not, because if i did, we wouldnât be having this conversation right now!â you were near yelling, but you couldnât care less if people could hear. dongmin was the only problem you cared about, and you wanted to fight to solve him.
silence hung in the air, and everything felt frozen. the only thing that moved was dongminâs chest, rising up then down while he breathed, each breath deeper than the last. even now, your moments with dongmin were still, except you felt all but at peace.
âthis is insaneâyouâre insane,â dongmin breathed out, looking away so his face was against the breeze. âthis seriously doesnât matter, so get over it. talk to me when youâve come to your senses.â
you and the silence broke all the same, rending further as he walked past you. his footsteps rang in your ears, and they were louder than anything youâve ever heard. his departure was deafening, and your puddles of tears were blinding.
you felt suffocated, more by the loss of dongmin than the loss of your senses. he was everything to you, and you lost him over something. you were as upset at yourself as you were at him; you wondered how you could be so mindless. you thought nothing could go wrong, but in the end, everything did.
you didnât know if anything was ever right in the first place. everything that felt off about dongmin gradually began to make sense, and the puzzle pieces reconfigured into a different picture, uglier than itâd ever been.
everything you couldnât fathom about dongmin didnât exist. every barrier he had built was translucent, and beyond it was nothing. every smile he gave you didnât mean anything, since everything behind it was nothing. the previously unknown was nothing, because that was what you truly meant to him.
he ripped a chunk out of you that youâd never get back, leaving it to be nothing. nothing was what was left of your heart; what once beat was broken by the boy it thrived for. nothing would be a taunt; a constant reminder that that was what you were to dongmin all along.
in reality, he was nothing short of the one rain cloud on a perfectly sunny day. he cut your wings, forbidding you from leaving the ground he cursed. he extinguished your flame, making it nearly impossible to reignite it. the piece of himself he provided to you before was now a parasite, intoxicating you from the inside out.
even in your sorrow-drunk daze, you knew that you had woken up from the dream that was too good to be. you escaped the everlasting slumber, and the spell was finally broken. although, your cure wasnât a fairytaleâs true loveâs kiss; it was something of the opposite nature.
dongminâs âbeautifulâ poison had finally caught up to you, and it was less pretty than youâd thought it was. even so, you still couldnât resist the temptation, even if he was irreversibly tainted. you wished for just one more look at your nightmare disguised as a daydream, so you made it come true.
you turned around, and your tear-blurred eyes trained on dongmin like it was a second nature. as if it were a third, you focused on his hand, intertwined with another. you didnât have to question who it was, as the answer came as a fourth. you could almost ignore the feeling of your heart break at the thought, as itâd broken enough times for it to be a first nature.
you felt all but wanted, and in its place was the burning pain of feeling used. beyond your pain was everything that you couldnât get rid of, including dongminâs strong presence in your heart. you were still wrapped around his finger, despite the scars youâd always have to carry because of him. you knew thatâeven though there was nothing leftâsomething would always linger.

đđ¨đ đ¨đŻđđŤ đ˛đ¨đŽ
Pairing: Ex!Taesan x fem!reader x Wonbin
Genre: A little angst & fluff, exes to ?
Summary: Taesan isnât quite over his ex and neither is she.
Warning: One curse
Notes: I did it. đŽâđ¨ A little different from what I normally write but I think it isnât that bad, lmao.
Taesan walked down the street on a cold day, on his way to work. The black haired rubbed his hands together in hopes of warming them, and then placed them on the pockets of his jacket.
As he continued to walk, he saw a cafĂŠ that he always passed by. Since he felt pretty cold, he decided to enter and buy himself a hot beverage.
He opened the door and stood in line, that luckily only had two more people. To pass the time, he looked around the place. It was pretty cozy and medium sized, there were also a few cats running around, a perfect spot to go when you want to have a peaceful time.
Just as he turned around to face the front, he spotted someone preeetty familiar to him.
Shit, he cursed. It was his ex, Y/n. They had broken off 6 months ago, after being together for almost 4 years.
To be honest, Taesan wasnât over her; she was his first love and someone that made a very positive impact on his life.
But it looked like she was over him, not that he blamed her, but he would have expected her to be as broken as the boy was.
She was sitting on one of the coaches by the corner with four other people, he recognized three of them as her best friends but the other guy, that was too close to her by the way, was a stranger to him.
The black haired hoped that the girl hadnât seen him, since he wasnât prepared to face her just yet.
After what felt like hours, itâs was his time to order. He chose a hot chocolate, paid and waited by the counter, trying not to bring attention to himself.
Thankfully the barista didnât take too long and before he knew it he was out of there. He released a relieved sigh and continued his way, until he felt someone calling his name.
Why God, why?, he whined on his head, shutting his eyes for a moment.
âTaesan?â
The boy sighted and turned around. âY/n, hey.â
âHow have you been?â She tried to make conversation; even if they hadnât broken up in the best terms, the girl still cared about him and, to be honest, she missed him.
âGood, busy with work.â
âOh, you have a comeback right around the corner, right?â
âYeah, in a few weeks.â Taesan was surprised that she knew that, he supposed that she would have stopped listening to their music and paying attention to any news related to his group.
âCool, hope it all goes smoothly.â
âThanks, and you, what have you been doing?â
âNothing much, business has been doing good.â Y/n had her own business, a cat cafĂŠ.
âYou opened your cafĂŠ?â They would have always talked about it when they were together. It was just a dream back then when she worked a 9-5 job.
âYeah! About 4 months ago. Itâs actually that one.â She pointed to the place where the black haired ordered his drink.
âOh, wow. Thatâs awesome, Y/nnie.â He looked at her with a smile. He knew how much she desired to run her own business. âIâm so happy for you.â
Just as he finished his sentence he realized he called her by her nickname, he cursed on his head.
âThank you, Taesan. That means a lot.â She blushed a bit. âWell, I gotta get back. It was⌠nice catching up.â
The boy nodded. âIt was, see you around.â There was a small smile on his lips.
âSee you.â
Both of them released a breath that they didnât know they were holding. Seeing each other really steered some feelings that had been there for months and helped with the weight they both carried on their shoulders. At least things were a little better than civil.
Taesan kept walking towards his company while Y/n returned to her establishment.
She walked towards the coach where her friends sat, taking her seat next to the guy with the long hair.
âEverything okay?â Wonbin asked looking at her.
She smiled. âYeah, just saw an old friend.â
The boy nodded and placed his arm on her shoulders, going back to the conversation in front of him.
Y/N stayed silent, lost in thought.
What she had with Wonbin, her situationship, had a little over a month. She told him she was fresh out of a long term relationship and wasnât really looking for another one, at least not in that moment. He understood and they just had been hanging out, getting to know each other more. Itâs not like he was a stranger, he was a friend of a friend; their friend in common was Sohee, a boy Y/n had known practically all of her life, her childhood best friend, if you wanna label it.
He was a cool and attractive guy, she liked being with him. But she wasnât really sure if she wanted something more with him, not after seeing her ex again.
Oh, loveâs so complicated.

In the Rain | teaser 1
đ§ playliste: V; Rainy days, Youra; Rawww, DPR IAN; Scaredy Cat, Radiohead; Present Tense, H.O.T.; Itâs been raining since you left me, Lexie Liu; i wanna tell you đ§
Pairings: bsf!Taesan x (f)reader,
Genres: best friends to lovers, angst, fluff, suggestive?
Summary:
Reader and Taesan have been friends practically their whole lives. Their relationship has always been completely platonic, -at least to reader, but when they, seemingly out of nowhere, kiss, it shakes everything up. Readers whole world is turned upside down, and she doesnât know how to adapt to the sudden change, so she does everything she can to deny and avoid it.
Warnings/themes(so far): making out, biting, clawing, swearing probably, Taesan is a little đ¤ bit sub, he falls first, but she falls harder(kinda), pining, -denial of said pining, honestly idk.. I havenât completed it yetđ¤ˇââď¸
Word count(teaser 1): 1032
Notes: I already have most of the plot planned out(or at least I have the ideas for it), but itâs not set in stone, so if you have any ideas or things that you would want in this fic, let me knowđŤś
Taglist: @prettiann
Like a flash, Taesanâs face suddenly covers my vision, and I feel soft lips pressing against mine. It tingles like a tiny butterfly, crawling across my lips. When he moves, itâs like silk draping over my skin. It feels too nice to have him kissing me, until he stops.
I blink.
Taesan just kissed me. -I think. Itâs not something Iâd make up. And, I know I felt it.
I look at him searching for reasoning, but he hides from my eyes. His flaring cheeks are the only thing holding any color on his face. His lips, which had just kissed me, he is chewing on, and his eyes are wide. His whole body is tense. He is still as a statue, until you notice the subtle swaying back and forth.
After what feels like way longer than the five seconds he actually just sat still for, he flutters his eyes and clears his throat.
I flinch, slightly, at that, and I realize just how stiffly I was sitting. When I relax my body, Iâm floating in space, with an unsettling lack of fear of the suffocation thatâs nearing.
His adam's apple bobles. Itâs something Iâve never noticed, let alone found attractive before. His neck, his smooth skin on the rough, slanted shapes, makes heat flash across my face. It moves again when he starts talking, and it keeps my eyes fixed.
âI-.. Am so sorry. I donât know what I was thinking. I wasnât thinking, really-â His mouth opens, like in a smile, but with clenched teeth, his eyebrows crinkles and his nose is scrunched together. A sharp breath races through his teeth.
He looks oddly pretty like this, in a way he shouldnât. When my eyes move to his lips, Iâm unusually aware of the empty air touching mine. My lips tingle, just slightly.
Before I know it Iâve rushed towards him, with my hand on his neck and my lips back on his. I almost get the time to worry in the short second it takes for him to react, but when he kisses me back, my head is only filled with sensations. His kiss, that slowly turns warm and damp. My thumb grazing over the bumps of his adamâs apple. His one hand that presses my hand back against the side of his neck, and the other, whose fingers dance right above my hip. The thin fabric of his shirt. The shapes underneath it. His collarbone. His chest. His stomach. The curves of the muscles that my fingers ribbles over. My hand which lands as low as it can get, with my sanity still intact, and I lean on it when I throw my leg over his.
When Iâm above him, I switch to kiss his top lip, that is a firmer type of soft. His hand burns against the naked skin on my thighs, and he finally actually rests the other hand on my hip bone.
My hand moves from his neck up the back of his head, tangling my fingers in his hair. I grab at it to move his head back, but he obliges before I can pull, and I go back to kissing his bottom lip. When I slow down, he follows. He breathes at the same pace as me. He has melted and turned into liquid in my arms, and I feel like he would let me do anything I wanted to him.
Almost as if he is trying to grasp onto his solid form, he claws at the skin of my thighs. Sparks rushes through, when he swiftly moves his hand upwards, over the side of my thigh, just for him to let go of it to let go of it.
He moves his hand towards a stand of my hair, that he carefully places behind my ear, and Iâm suddenly aware of his hair, between us, that tickles my face. He pushes more of my hair back with his knuckles, so I feel the cold air touch my skin on my shoulder.
For the first time, I let go of his lips and lean my head to the side. My fingers, that brushes though his hair, just barely pushes his head towards my neck, which only does anything due to the complete lack of resistance.
He kisses my cheek, and then, my jaw, in slow pecks. Slowly my fist grasps the fabric under my hand, that riles up before I notice it. The skin of his lower stomach touches the palm of my hand, and, with the breath he sucks in against my neck, he clenches the muscles of his stomach.
One-by-one my fingers let go of the shirt, and they move down, so that the tips stroke his exposed skin, my thumb just barely avoiding his erection. My fingers nudge against the rim of his shirt, and it falls over and covers my nails. My hands roam around and up, and the second my palm hits his skin, he bites my shoulder. The shadow of his whimper dies into my skin, and I moan at the slight twinge of pain tingling throughout my body.
My heart is beating in my head. Like a bomb ticking. My head is about to explode, but I canât stop.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
!!BANG!!
The door slams open, and my bubble bursts. Suddenly, all my rational thoughts flood back, and I jump off of Taesan, from the flames that flare up on our skin touching.
My eyes glue themselves to the TV. Iâm burning everywhere. I hear the footsteps of someone entering. When they stop, I look up into the eyes of Woonhak.
He glances back and forth between us, and I canât stop myself from following his gaze towards Taesan. -For just a second, and now I have the image of him burned into my brain.
His red sore lips, his glossed-over eyes, the pink on his ears and cheeks, his ruffled, messy hair, the still exposed skin of his lower stomach, the prominent proof of his pleasure, his shaking hands; all come together to the most beautiful picture I have ever seen.
He is suddenly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Y/nâs look of surprise turns into a smile, her sparkling eyes meeting him.
âHi.â
âHow have you been?â He asks, taking a step closer. Taesan felt like he couldnât breatheâshe was really standing in front of him.
Her expression softened, and she gave him a small smile, though it didnât quite reach her eyes. âDongmin, itâs been a while. Iâm doing better now. A lot better, actually.â
He could see it. She looked differentâhappier, healthier. There was a spark in her eyes that hadnât been there the last time they saw each other. It was like sheâd shed the weight of the world that had once dragged her down, and it hurt him to realize how far away she felt now.
âIâm glad,â he managed to say, his voice low. âIâve been... doing well too, I guess. Idol life has been busy.â He paused, his throat tightening. âBut Iâve missed you. Youâve never really left my mind.â
For a moment, silence fell between them. Her eyes flickered with somethingâmaybe surprise, maybe regretâbut just as she opened her mouth to respond, a voice called from the distance.
âY/n!â a guyâs voice echoed down the street.
Both of them turned to see a tall guy walking toward them, his expression calm but curious as he approached. Taesan felt his heart sink instantly, the pang of jealousy hitting him like a ton of bricks.
The guy reached Y/n's side, placing a casual hand on her lower back as he looked at Taesan. Taesan forced a smile, but his hands clenched slightly by his sides.
âHey, sorry about that,â Y/n said, her voice a little softer now. She gestured between the two of them. âDongmin, this is Minhyung, my... boyfriend.â
The words struck him harder than heâd imagined they would. His chest tightened painfully as he glanced at Minhyung, who gave him a polite nod, but there was an air of awkwardness between them.
Taesan swallowed, forcing himself to remain calm, even as the bitterness inside him twisted deeper. âNice to meet you,â he said, offering a strained smile.
âLikewise,â Minhyung replied, his tone friendly but firm.
After a few more brief words of awkward small talk, Taesan realized he couldnât stand there any longer. The pain was too raw, too real. With one last look at Y/n, he gave her a tight, bittersweet smile. âI should get going. It was nice seeing you again... really.â
Her gaze lingered on him for a moment, as if she had something more to say, but all she managed was a quiet, âYou too, Dongmin.â
He nodded, unable to bear it any longer. Turning on his heel, he quickly made his way back to the cafe, his chest feeling heavier with every step. His hands trembled slightly as he pulled his mask back up over his face, trying to shield himself from the world, but the growing bitterness inside him was impossible to escape.
As he entered the cafe, the sound of his membersâ laughter surrounded him, but all he could think about was the image of Y/n with her new boyfriend. Even though he had tried to move on, she had never left his heart.
And now, seeing her happyâhappy without himâit hurt more than he ever thought it would.

[from the start] taesan x f!reader | teaser full fic here! college au, classmates to lovers, making out, alc consumption ++ terrible drunk decisions lmao, angst kinda, misunderstanding, mutual pining, fear of physical touch at first, everyone is just a little confused syn. in which you and taesan reunite under circumstances you're not sure if you'll regret.
you shouldn't be here. you should be sleeping off the alcohol flowing through you in your own bed, at your place. you shouldn't be here, pressed against taesan's chest, your mouth molded against his.
up until a few hours ago, han taesan was nothing but a fleeting memory. just someone your friends brought up once in a while to watch the way your cheeks flared up in embarrassment. he was part of the past, an unfortunate moment during your freshman year in university. your friends didn't know about the guilt that ate away at you every time the boy's name crossed your mind.
[...]
"seriously? you're not mad.... at all?" sungho sat up in his bed, staring at his roommate in disbelief. "dude, she literally led you on and ghosted you." jaehyun chimed in, shaking his head at the younger boy. taesan shrugged and went back to tuning his guitar, covering up the sounds of his friends' scoffs with the vibrations of the strings he plucked. they thought he was hopeless, and secretly, he agreed.
and after months of radio silence, it was safe to say that taesan was not expecting his phone to ping with a message from you.
out now!
