The 6B07 Newsletter (Issue 1, 2024-06-24)
Hello, and welcome to the 6B07 newsletter.  If you’re getting this email, it’s because at some point in the past year, you’ve interacted with your friendly District of Columbia Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, Vince Mareino.  If you don’t want to get any future emails, just reply "unsubscribe"; I promise I won’t mind.
This is my first-ever newsletter, 18 months into my job as the ANC rep for 6B07.  I’d been hoping to just communicate with you all through social media, but it’s become clear that social media is fragmenting in a way where the best sites are obscure, and the popular sites are terrible for productive, sustained conversations.  (I’ll be copying these newsletters onto Tumblr, though, which seems to be the least-worst social media site these days.)
ANC work is somewhat irregular (and very much unpaid), so these newsletters will be on an irregular schedule, too.  I’ll post more when there’s more neighborhood news and more need for community input.
So, what’s going on right now?  We have several ANC meetings this week:
The Public Safety Committee meets tonight (6/24) at 6:30p.  (Despite the name, the committee focuses on street crime – non-crime safety issues go to other committees.)  There will be a presentation and discussion by the Network for Victim Recovery of DC, and consideration of a resolution on the city’s Gun Violence Reduction Strategic Plan.
There’s a Special full ANC meeting tomorrow (6/25) at 6:30p.  The special meeting will resolve two Planning & Zoning issues that were not ready for resolution at the normal June meeting:
Taco Bell wants to open at 411 8th St SE.  Old timers will know that as the former Lake Arbor Dental.  For the past few years, though, it’s been the vacant building next to the Chipotle.  The residential neighbors have been in negotiations with Taco Bell for the past few weeks, and now have reached a comprehensive settlement that greatly resembles the ones that apply to the other fast-food places in Eastern Market.  As such, it’s likely we’ll approve this item.
The house at 718 7th Street SE is under zoning and historic preservation review.  Basically, the applicants propose to keep the original house the same, but to remove the more recent rear addition and replace it with a taller addition.  It seems like all the relevant bodies now approve of this project, so it’s likely we’ll approve this item, too.
The Executive Committee meets tomorrow right after the special meeting (likely 6/25 at 7:00p).  This will be a normal, short Executive Committee meeting, just setting the agenda of the next full Commission, scheduled for the evening of July 9.
The Transportation Committee meets Wednesday (6/26) at 7:00p.
DDOT will give an update on its next major project in Capitol Hill, the 8th St Bus Priority Project.  This project won’t be revolutionary like the Pennsylvania Ave project.  But if it goes as planned, then the parking mess on Barracks Row will become a lot safer.
City-wide, DDOT is asking ANCs for advice on where to install electric vehicle charging stations.  If you have any ideas, please share them!
After that, next up are Planning & Zoning on July 1, and Alcohol on July 2.  The agendas for those aren’t set, but it looks like P&Z will be all single-home renovations, and Alcohol will be license renewals.
That’s all for now.  I’ll just close with a reminder that if there are any local issues that you think should be the ANC’s business, or if you are personally having any trouble getting in touch with the right DC government officials, you can email me at [email protected].  And if you want to unsubscribe, just reply “unsubscribe” to [email protected].
Until next time,
Vince Mareino

12/13/14. Sat. 9:12pm
As I was disembarking BART at Dublin--Pleasanton station at about 6:35pm, Greg Bently phoned. He ran into excused juror 12 at Taco Bell who said “Cops were lying. I wouldn’t want to be arrested in Modesto.”
Other jurors feel the same way.”
No wonder the nurse alternate juror told me that my shoe was untied.
She wants to unplug the Da and his lead investigator.!
_________________________
Margin note to above: also written on 12/13/2014
The TRIAL-LIGHT ZONE.
Invented it on the drive home tonight (from the Dublin Bart station.)
“That sign post up ahead. You’re now entering Department 26…the trial-lite zone. Normal rules and laws do not apply in the trial-lite zone.”
_________________________
Back to the 12/13/14 entry:
The day started with MAC showing  up unannounced at the house at about 9am. He walked in with 40-50ish Lisa, a drug rehab  program friend.
So, I turned her into a juror. After hearing the case facts, she said “Someone’s gonna pay.”  But, I think she’d walk the  the defendants who were in the green car.
Bart was fun. Lots of Santa’s and Santa-ettes.
One, as the BART doors closed,( he had just left the BART car with a boobs-alot elf lady,) yelled back into the train “faggot” and flipped the train doors off!
Christmas class act
Probably an Arian Brotherhood Christmas gang member.
I told a black guy passing by about it. He said there were lots of drunk Santas in San Francisco today.
I found a new book store on College Ave today in Berkeley/Oakland. A good one I think. But, the checkout clerk was really rude!
The Pegasus Book’s clerks were nice
One knew Tony Serra.
He represented a friend. He did a good job. Saved her from jail.
End of entry
The 5 things. 12/13/14. 9:29pm
—The drunken Santas on BART. Some of them were hot!
—“new” book store on College Ave
—Greg Bently’s call: Juror 12 said Detective Gum is a liar.
—Meeting MAC’s friend Lisa. Telling Jim’s story to her.
—Learning that Lisa’s son came out to her as gay  5 years ago
Notes:
This entry was written while I was representing Lizandro Mendoza in a gang murder trial in Modesto, California. The trial was held in department 26, Stanislaus County Superior court. It lasted from August 4, 2014 to January 28, 2015. Greg Bentley and Tony Serra were fellow defense attorneys on the case. They represented two of the 4 co defendants.  Tony was rather famous. He has written books.
By December 13, 2014, a jury had been seated  for the trial. Apparently. Juror 12 had been excused from the jury for some reason after having heard some law enforcement testimony. An attorney can talk with an excused juror while the trial is in progress.
MAC had been living with me off and on for 4 years as of 12/13/14.
I like to turn people I encounter into jurors when I’m in trial. I run the case facts by them and ask what issues they see. Sometimes, I use points they raise in the case and in closing argument. That’s what I was doing with Lisa in the entry. My client must have been in the green car.
I believe that I have been doing “The 5 Things” since I learned about it in Kaiser chemical dependency out patient treatment in 2011.  A UC Davis professor said that if you write 5 things that you are grateful for during the day at night before you go to be, it will help you to be more grateful for things as the are happening. You can’t just say what you are greatful for. You have to write it, per the Davis professor.
Re: the boobs-alot Santa Elf with the rude Santa, Boobs-alot means that she had large breasts prominently displayed.

6-7-2023
Started off the day by having our 2nd Neophyte meeting and taking our first quiz. Honestly I was not too prepared for that quiz. I didn’t expect that I need to have a refreshers on old info because it’s been a while since I went over it. After the meeting I got ready to go to a small concert for Grentperez. It was a really good concert and I got tacos from Ave 26 after with my roommate and zsis.

Tacos Ave 26, Figueroa Plaza, Figueroa St. & Genevieve Ave., Los Angeles (Highland Park), CA 90041
Tumblr media
The name of this truck makes me think it’s owned by the famous Avenue 26 Taco Stand people, but is it really? I’m not so sure after eating there. On the plus side, the tacos are only $1, same as Ave. 26 Tacos. There’s no menu posted anywhere, so it’s hard to tell what they have. The meats are listed: al pastor, asada, buche (pig stomach), cabeza (cow head), suadero (beef brisket) and tripe (crossed out).
She mentioned they had burritos, tortas, etc. Order and pay. They’ll call you when the order is ready.
The tacos are your typical street tacos: 2 small corn tortillas, meat, chopped white onions, cilantro, salsa. They also provided limes but no sliced radishes or pickled veggies.
* Cabeza tacos: nice, beefy flavor, tender
* Al pastor taco: had a funny taste, not aggressively seasoned
* Buche: super dry, very salty
The corn tortillas were lukewarm even though I ate the tacos right away. I would only return for the cabeza.
Credit cards are accepted.
2.5 out of 5 stars

my eurovision top 39 songs (finally)
anyway i finally got my top 39 completed. under a read more because it can get kinda long with the commentary i added klfdja;sflk (and by that i mean VERY long, maybe a wall of text if i have a lot to say about the song.)
none of this takes rehearsals into account.
basically, 39-37 i don't like, 36-35 are meh, 34-25 are decent, 24-18 are good, 17-12 i enjoy listening to a lot, 11-4 i love, and I would pay for votes for top 3 if i could.
39. Azerbaijan - Efendi - Mata Hari - Honestly, I kinda want to like this song. The instrumentation is nice, especially with the Azeri instruments. Efendi's vocals are ok during the verses. However, her vocals during the MA-MA-MA-MATA HARI part makes this song utterly unlistenable for me. It is just so distracting and ear-grating. Not great for my sensitive ears. And that is without taking anything else into account.
38. Estonia - Uku Suviste - The Lucky One - For some reason reminds me of a boring modern country song. Bland af. At least the melody of the chorus is nice.
37. Cyprus - Elena Tsagrinou - El Diablo - Discount Lady Gaga at the best points of this song. Feels like three songs at once. Also, the lyrics seem like they just went all "What Spanish-sounding words sound spicy? Taco? Tamale? Mamacita?" As a Spanish speaker and as someone of Mexican descent who enjoys those foods, this annoys the living shit out of me. At least I can make El Diablo/Fallen Angel memes out of this. (Honestly, I don't mind the gratuitous Spanish with the words El Diablo.) Also, this song got real old real quick.
36. Slovenia - Ana Soklič - Amen - The gospel vibe is nice, but there is just too much Christianity in it for me to enjoy this song. Sorry, Ana.
35. Moldova - Natalia Gordienko - Sugar - Sounds like a sugary version of Siren Song by MARUV. Kinda boring, but enjoyable in the right circumstances.
34. Georgia - Tornike Kipiani - You - Good to listen to when mind feels blank. At first I kinda liked this song, but nowadays this song has lost its charm. This won't sound out of place alongside boring 70s slow classic rock songs.
33. Austria - Vincent Bueno - Amen - Not something I would listen to regularly, but still nice. For me, easily the biggest downgrade from 2020.
32. Greece - Stefania - Last Dance - Pleasant to listen to, not much else.
31. Portugal - The Black Mamba - Love Is On My Side - Good song, but not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, some great songs have to be near the bottom of my ranking.
30. Germany - Jendrik - I Don't Feel Hate - A fun song to listen to. The novelty wears off after a while. The feel good vibes and ukulele are nice.
29. Israel - Eden Alene - Set Me Free - the song release version was bland and boring, but the revamp. Now THAT is good stuff. The song doesn't seem so empty anymore. I miss the key change from the original, though.
28. Spain - Blas Cantó - Voy A Quedarme - A very emotional and beautiful song from Spain. Again, not usually my cup of tea. However, the melody somehow gives me a nostalgic vibe.
27. North Macedonia - Vasil - Here I Stand - DAMN Vasil has a lovely voice. Nice that he's showing it off here. Too slow of a song for me to enjoy regularly, though.
26. Albania - Anxhela Peristeri - Karma - I don't have much to say other than this song is nice.
25. Bulgaria - VICTORIA - Growing Up Is Getting Old - Pleasant to listen to, but depending on my mood I think this is a beautiful song but not my cup of tea or a complete snoozefest.
24. Serbia - Hurricane - Loco Loco - Fun song, but it feels like something is lacking, and I can't quite put my finger on it.
23. San Marino - Senhit - Adrenalina - Once the initial hype from Flo Rida being on the song died down, this became another typical Eurovision bop.
22. Sweden - Tusse - Voices - At first I thought the song was completely unremarkable and couldn't understand how this won Melodifestivalen. Nowadays it's a nice song to chill to. I gotta respect a perfect televote score from the national final.
21. Ireland - Lesley Roy - MAPS - nice.
20. Croatia - Albina - Tick Tock - Grew on me slightly. Shoutout for including a verse in Croatian.
19. Switzerland - Gjon's Tears - Tout l'Univers - Another grower for me. Doesn't hit as hard as his song from last year, but I dig it.
18. France - Barbara Pravi - Voilà - Lovely chanson right here. I wish it didn't take forever to pick up, though. I was about to completely give up on this song in the middle of my first listen. I'm glad I didn't.
17. Belgium - Hooverphonic - The Wrong Place - Classy. Not much else to say.
16. Ukraine - Go-A - Shum - I'd definitely go rave to this song. I kept finding this song hard to rank due to the white voice. I couldn't decide if I absolutely adored it or if I found it grating. Maybe I just wasn't feeling well when I first thought about it.
15. Lithuania - The Roop - Discoteque - Lots of fun, doesn't have the charm that On Fire had last year. I would dance to this song.
14. Poland - RAFAŁ - The Ride - I actually kinda like this song???? Even with Rafal's vocals??? I know he has political controversies, but I can't help but think this song is nice. A better, less controversial singer would benefit this song, though. I'm not counting the revamp just yet since it was released too recently.
13. Latvia - Samanta Tīna - The Moon Is Rising - This song gives me nostalgic mid to late 2000s hip hop vibes. The guitars in this song are lovely.
12. Romania - ROXEN - Amnesia - Definitely something that can put me in a trance if I'm in the right mood.
11. Czechia - Benny Cristo - omaga - Nice, catchy, I would dance to this.
10. Malta - Destiny - Je Me Casse - Damn, Destiny has a lovely voice! And the song itself is wonderful. I'm not a fan of the amount of Swedish talent being used instead of Maltese talent, but I really do enjoy listening to this.
9. Denmark - Fyr og Flamme - Øve Os På Hinanden - another really fun song! This really grew on me. Nowadays if I want to listen to a Eurovision song, this is one of the first songs I think of.
8. The Netherlands - Jeangu Macrooy - Birth of a New Age - I can vibe with this. You can hear the passion in this song. I wish I could let my body do the talking right now, but y'all can't see that with just a tumblr text post.
7. Russia - Manizha - Russian Woman - I was NOT expecting this to come out of Russia when it won the national final. I wasn't expecting to like this either. The message is great, the instrumental is great, everything about this is brilliant.
6. United Kingdom - James Newman - Embers - A funky song. I LOVE James's voice. Massive upgrade from last year in my opinion. I'm a sucker for brass in an upbeat song. Unfortunately, I have had the staging kinda spoiled and I am VERY skeptical about this coming out of bottom five. I'm done with the BBC.
5. Australia - Montaigne - Technicolour - There is a Lot happening in this song and I am all in for it. I'm kinda terrible at parsing lyrics, but it's a non-issue when I can follow Montaigne's voice and forget about the lyrics. Ironically enough, it's Montaigne's voice that also worries me this Eurovision season - mostly whether she was able to pull off her live on tape performance off.
4. Iceland - Daði og Gagnamagnið - 10 Years - I didn't think Daði could pull it off against this year, but he did it. I like this just a little more than Think About Things, which was my favorite song last year. I'm still a little gutted that this pandemic robbed him of a probable victory, but I've made peace with it. I still need to learn the dance moves, though.
3. Italy - Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni - FUCK YEAH A KICKASS ROCK SONG IN EUROVISION! This song gave me massive rock en español vibes on my fist listen, and honestly this is something I would bang my head to if I had the same body I did when I was 15.
2. Norway - TIX - Fallen Angel - I was not expecting to like this song much, let alone becoming THIS obsessed with TIX. In fact, he wasn't even on my radar for winning MGP. I listened to Ut Av Mørket for the first time and thought something like 'this is boring af, but at least it's in Norwegian'. And then he changed it to English, which I wasn't a fan of at first. And then one day the lyrics clicked - especially with my own struggles with mental illness. To this day this is one of only two Eurovision songs to actually make me cry. Even now he still isn't my MGP winner (that honor goes to JORN), but he has definitely won my heart.
1. Finland - Blind Channel - Dark Side - To say that this song kicks ass would be an understatement for me. This song has just the right mix of rock, pop, and even metal. Ever since I found out that this song would be in the national final, I knew that it would be my favorite this whole Eurovision season regardless of who won UMK. Yes, my jaw dropped when I saw the lead Blind Channel had in UMK. I literally cancelled my plans to watch the MGP final live because of these guys. I am not disappointed. Even Måneskin couldn't bring these guys down in my ranking. And while the lyrics might be a bit iffy, they did get me through rough times. I hope these guys are able to bring rock music back like they want to. But for now, I will give them my (useless tbh) douze points.

words: 3,000 (I did this on purpose, I was so proud :)
warnings: Swearing, kissing, adoption (idk man)
Ao3 Link
“Ok favorite…” Paul pondered for a moment examining the room, Emma's room was bleak but held some items of importance. There were pictures of her and her family scattered on every wall. It was a pretty basic setup, she had a desk by the window, a bed in the middle and a closet. She did, however, have an awesome TV set with many games included. At this point, the pair had exhausted most things and were just searching for anything. He fiddled with his chopsticks, twirling some noodles around them. “Oh! Favorite takeout food!” He exclaimed Emma tilted her head, scrunching her eyebrows before deciding to answer.
“Well…” Now it was her turn to look around. It was a big question, she liked Chinese, obviously. She twirled her own noodles, eating them up before thinking some more. She liked tacos that she and her mom would get on Tuesday. She loved Italian. “Italian,” She said pointing her chopsticks at Paul, he nodded approvingly.
“I would go for sushi, but nice option” He complimented, she laughed nudging him. They sat comfortably atop her bed eating as the TV continued playing the background. Paul, with his mouth full, gestured towards the TV “What mind of ames oo you ave?” He mumbled, Emma raised her eyebrows. He swallowed before trying again. “What kind of games do you have?” She perked up setting down her food. She walked over to a smaller closet under the tv, she opened it to reveal two shelves all lined with games. “Oh absolutely” Paul muttered amazed, he joined her as they perused the games. I like this one.
“What about some classics?” Emma teased holding up her copy of Wii sports. Paul laughed reminiscing about the times he, Ted and Bill would play it. “Oo! Or maybe some ‘Call of Duty’? I mean we probably shouldn't, seeing as video games cause violence”
“She says as she adopts three cats in the sims” Paul commented, she stifled a laugh continuing her game search. Paul does the same his eyes glazed over with excitement at each new game he finds. “Oh yes, South Park? Nice” Paul says dryly “Its Ted's favorite”
“Of course it is” She sighs rolling her eyes “It was either that or he was a ‘My Little Pet Shop’ lover” Emma joked, Paul falls back laughing, he sits up wiping his eyes,
“Don't diss the pet shop Em” He says putting two games back, he pulls another one “No way! Is this is the new ‘Man of Medan’ game?” Paul rushes holding up the game. Emma nods enthused. “Can we play it?” He asks softly, almost pouting.
“Yeah! I haven't played it yet but it looks fun!” She informs. Paul stops, he stares at her.
“Fun? Fun? no … no, Emma, this game is…” He ponders “I actually have no idea it just looks fun” They erupt into laughter, both smiling widely. They plug in the game preparing to play. The game is interesting enough and keeps them both on their feet and alert, probably wasn't the best game to play at night but neither of them cared. They were mostly there for the witty comments Emma made, the absolute confusion Paul displayed and the overall excitement of hanging out together after a long week. The game hit a slow with both of them gaining quite exhausted of the strenuous gameplay and pausing for a break and more food.
“You're not bad Matthews” Emma comments as they clean up their takeout
“Don't flatter me, they are just quick-time events, anyone can do them” Paul remarks as he helps out making their way to the kitchen.
“Falsehood, not everyone can do them, I personally think that QTEs are quite hard but go off” Emma mumbles, Paul chuckles as she ushers him away trying to clean. “Hey, my parents aren't home wanna practice for the musical?” She asks casually. Paul thinks for a moment before shrugging. He had no qualms about this, seemingly beneficial and well… fun.
“Yeah sure, let me go grab my music,” Paul says, Emma nods finishing up the cleaning. She opens her laptop setting up the karaoke as Paul returns briskly holding his binders. She smiles to herself as he seats himself next to her, they begin the track waiting. The song went on smoothly, each person getting into their characters and having too much fun with it. Approaching the last verse Paul had to look at his music having not been great at the final notes.
“And I love you know that I love...you know that I love…” They sang in unison sounding quite nice together Paul looked up to find Emma staring at him. She looked nice, a quiet fury of passion behind her eyes, her hair falling messily on her back. The track continued awaiting Pauls line but he couldn't really speak. Emma tilted her head watching him sweetly, and now he wasn't thinking, He wasn't thinking when he grabbed her face gently pressing their lips together, Emma melted into it kissing back almost instantly. She cupped his own hands that were still placed on her face. She giggled as they pulled away, something Paul could get used to. They stared for a moment both trying to figure out what to say.
“...me too” Paul breathes finishing the song maybe too late. Emma watches as a blush creeps on his face. She laughs lovingly, closing her laptop she turns back to Paul.
“Not bad Matthews, although I don't think we were supposed to kiss” She shrugs, Paul rolls his eyes affectionately “But hey, I could get used to that…” Paul bites his lip as she gets up to put away her computer. He follows her standing quickly, he takes her hand stopping her. “Paul?” She asks cautiously. He puts on his best smolder.
“Emma Perkins” Did his voice get higher? “Would you consider…” Emma would be lying if she said her heart hadn’t skipped a beat as she listened expectantly “Going steady with me?” he asked barely keeping it together. Emma laughed pushing him slightly.
“God you're such a dweeb” She comments lovingly, he nods agreeing. She pauses making herself more formal. “But of course! I'd love to” She says putting on her best accent. He laughs moving closer, he wraps his arms around her hips looking down at her, she follows his lead wrapping her arms around his neck.
“You're short,” He notices, she frowns sighing, throwing her head back. He laughs placing a hand on her chin pulling her close kissing her softly once more. They pull away, he frowns “Nope, still short” She rolls her eyes groaning pushing away from him.
“I take it back,” She mutters already walking away from him, he jumps following her.
“No, take backs!” He shouts as he grabs her carefully smothering with tickles. She can't help but giggle. She slaps his arms away softly turning back to him, smiling.
“The first rule of…” She gestures between then “this, no tickling. Got it?” He nods frantically. She smiles, I like this.

Sherlock, John, and Lestrade
Paul: Hey Ted! Guess what! No more making fun of me just cause you and Tommy are all smushy
Ted: First of all, please never use the word smushy ever again, second what the fuck are you talking about?
Bill: Hello, I am present
Paul: Hey Bill. And Ted for your information, Emma and I are ...going steady
Ted:...
Ted: Can I block him? Bill, can I block him?
Bill: No you may not, and congratulations Paul.
Paul: Thank you, Bill, at least someone here is not self-centered
Ted: Hey! It's called self-love...not that I have any of that
Bill: Ditto
Paul: Oh? Mood
Bill: Anyway, how did it happen?
And so Paul told them, sparing only a few details hed like to keep to himself. It was exciting and fun to recall to his friends.
Ted: That's cute, and very cliche
Paul: Yes it is, and I have no regrets
Paul: Don't you dare
Ted: No ragrets
Bill: YOLO
Paul: I hate you both so much.
Ted: :)
Bill: :)
Paul: Anyway what's going on in your lives?
Ted: Nothing much
Bill: Besides homework and rehearsal for the play I have no interesting topics for discussion.
Paul: In other words…
Ted: Nothing much. :)
Bill: Yes
Ted: Oh you know what! There is something…
Paul: Oo! What? Is Tommy secretly a furry
Ted: …
Ted: Please for the love of all that is holy Bill let me blOCK HIM
Bill: -bill is offline-
Ted: oH power move
Ted: -ted is offline-
Paul: I am so lonely...I have nobody...all on my own!
Paul: wait Ted wat was your thing
~~~
“WELL HELLO TRAITORS!” Paul shouted as he walked up to his friends by the locker. Both Bill and Ted groaned covering their ears. Paul pushed past them both opening his locker, he shoved some things inside continuing his conversation. “Hey, what's dat” He asks gesturing towards the hot drink in Ted's hand.
“Hot chocolate” he smiles “I'm meeting Tommy, we both have free periods so we’re gonna hang out in the library and study” Paul and Bill smile at the happy look on Teds. They go to continue but Emma interrupts walking up to the group followed by Charlotte.
“Is it good today or bad?” Paul asks leaning in, Emma rolls her eyes nudging him. She eyes the group which has now fallen silent and are now staring at the pair. “Ok, that's not happening, it didn't happen with Tommy and Ted, and it's not happening with me and Emma”
“Emma and I” Bill corrected stuffing his face in his book. Ted stifled a laugh as Paul glared at them
“What didn't happen with Ted and I?” Tommy asked curiously walking up to the group, subtly interlacing his hands with Teds. Ted smiled at him greeting him.
“Thank you” Bill mumbled once more at the correct grammar, Ted giggled.
“Nothing” Paul muttered, Emma sighed watching him “Well the whole gangs here…”
“Astute observation Paul! You really are a genius” Emma commented, her tone bright and fake. Paul pouted much to the group's amusement.
“Hey, we’re dating now you can't make fun of me” He frowned, Emma, smiled coyly, taking his hands.
‘Can and will” She said “Alright we have history so we out,” Emma said dragging away her boyfriend from the group, Paul following with no qualms, the group laugh waving them off.
“They're cute” Tommy commented sweetly. Charlotte nodded agreeing she checked her own watch perking up.
“Gotta go!” She said rushing away after mumbling goodbyes. And then there were three. Bill still had his face in a book only half-paying attention to what was going on. Ted sighed pushing his book down, laying it flat Bill looked up slightly irritated.
“Can I help you?” He asked curtly, Ted knew it wasn't directed at him.
“Bill, you gotta go to class” Ted reminded, Bill, checked his watch nodding. He, just as the others had done, waved the two goodbye and disappeared into the buzzing hallways.
“And then there were two!” Tommy giggled, Ted smiled squeezing his hand “To the library?” Ted nodded and let Tommy lead him through the halls, into the library, into a secluded corner, with books, beanbags, and a small table. They set their things down and got comfortable.
“For you,” Ted said handing him the hot drink, Tommy smiled taking it enthused.
“Thank you!” Ted nodded grabbing his things from his bag, he wouldn't meet Tommy's eyes “Whatcha workin on?” Tommy asked setting his cup down, grabbing his own things. “I've got some chem to do and then-”
“They want to adopt me” Ted blurted, quietly but urgent. Oh, Tommy thought, and here I was going on about chemistry,
~~~
“Chad” Greg greeted nodding curtly to the man, he turned his voice becoming softer “Henry” Chad sighed stroking his chin, Henry didn't acknowledge the man as he continued grading papers. Chad leaned in whispering just enough for Greg to hear.
“Was it Jreg? I can't remember” He teases, Henry laughs, a full laugh clearly something he's been holding in for days. Greg groaned plopping his things down next to them. “Did we invite him? I don't remember inviting him” Chad comments poking his salad. Henry shook his head thinking.
“I don't either, odd” He turned to face Greg finally “I don't remember inviting you hmm..” Greg watched the two, why was he so adamant about tearing them down?
“Children, actual children” He muttered opening his lunch.
“He says as if he didn't kiss my husband” Chad mumbled, Henry’s eyes went wide, almost bulging trying not to laugh once more. “It's like that show… what's it called? Based on the Archie comics?” Chad snapped trying to remember, Henry, shrugged he only really watched crime tv or medical shows.
“Riverdale?” Greg added helpfully, Chad snickered.
“Of course you would know what its called” Henry muttered, going through another test. Chad nodded approvingly. A beep went off and Henry and Chad checked their phones. “Love” Henry tapped his watch with the end of his pencil
“Ah yes,” Chad said packing his things “I must go” he stood making his way to the door, not before Henry planted a kiss on his cheek. He turned towards Greg “Try not to kiss my husband while you're at it” He added mockingly before promptly leaving, giving Greg no chance at a rebuttal.
“We’ll see about that” Greg muttered a little too loud. Henry eyed him and packed up his things, leaving his own classroom without a word.
~~~
“It's so boring Em” paul groaned as he sat down at their lunch table, Emma chuckled stroking his hair lovingly. ‘History is boring” Ted and Tommy soon joined, eyeing the pair.
“What's up with him?” Ted asked Tommy, nodded agreeing. Charlotte, Bill and an unexpected guest of Sam sat down as well. Emma ignored Sam, turning back to Ted.
“You heard the man, History was boring” She shrugged, Paul sighed sadly leaning on Emma, resting on her shoulder. She patted him “There there” The group laughed collectively moving on. “Hey is everyone called for rehearsal today?” She asked as Paul sat up both opening their lunches. Charlotte quickly grabbed her journal flipping the pages.
“Yes! Everyone is called, we are doing a full run-through of the songs and then we are blocking the opeening” She informed excited, Emma smiled at her. She then finally glared at Sam, returning her soft gaze at Charlotte. Very hot and cold.
“Thanks, Lottie” She popped a chip in her mouth. The group continued on with the polite conversation, everyone doing their own thing. Bill sat on the left side of the table reading his book occasionally looking up and eating or participating. Ted sat to his left, actively engaging in conversation making jokes, and loving insults at people. Tommy sat to his left working on his music, marking it, eating sometimes and chiming in to reel Ted in or to watch the group. Emma and Paul sat at the head of the table, Emma closest to Bill, Paul closest to Charlotte on the right side. Emma led the conversation constantly throwing out ideas and topics, practically eating and talking at the same time. Paul did much of the same but much more quiet. Charlotte rebutted the conversation, always excited to share and talk to the group, eating neatly. Then there was Sam, he didn't fit in. He constantly tried to gain momentum in their conversation but they had all built him up in their heads as this egotistical, annoying human. And he did nothing to prove them wrong, making backhanded compliments, shutting down ideas, insulting them. Ted, Emma, and Paul could handle it they were instigators, but then he would move on to Tommy, Bill or Charlotte and they just didn't understand. Emma wasted no time telling Charlotte as soon as Sam left for the bathroom.
“He's being so mean! Lottie, you know I love you and I said I would...support whatever this is” She tried to hide her disturbed feelings, Charlotte listened. “But he's insulting you, and that's not a relationship!” Charlotte felt her heart pull, Emma was right, but she was always right and for once Charlotte wanted to be right. She loved Emma but this was her thing, she brought Sam into their lives and…
“What do you know about relationships?” Charlotte rebutted, no no! That's not what I wanted, She thought. “You date a guy for one day and suddenly you're the guru? Newsflash Emma-
“I'm sorry” Emma cut in calmly, the boys watched the two feeling themselves grow hot with nerves. “You're right, but I just want you to be ok” She admitted, she shrugged standing up. Paul went to follow but she shook her head. “I'll see you guys later” Charlotte sunk, Sam returned but she didn't stay. She ran after Emma.
~~~
Gucci Gang
Ted: Hey...Emma, Charlotte...is everything… Gucci now?
Paul: Can I block him? Bill, can I block him?
Bill: No you may not, and to put it in...simpler terms is everything alright?
Charlotte: yes, we have some stuff we need to talk about…
Emma: But we’re ok
Tommy: Oh yay!
Ted: you're so cute
Ted:...
Ted; The one...was supposed to stay in here.
Charlotte: Hehe, I will see you guys at rehearsal!
Emma: Ditto, gotta go grab some snacks. Anyone want anything?
Ted: Ill take some bleach
Bill: Ted, no
Tommy: No Ted
Ted: And once again, I am out
Paul: Yeah I gotta talk to my sister, see y'all later
Emma: I'M DATING A COWBOY, MOM I DID IT. Anyway, I'll just grab everyone something
Tommy: Bye!
Bill: It seems it is just us now
Tommy: Well I've got nothing to do till rehearsal, wanna go to the library and play a game of chess?
Bill: That is a satisfactory past time, I would love to.

Heritage Park in Sapulpa OK
It’s always very unusual to be in Heritage Park in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. This park has a great history. This project, Heritage Park had 1700 volunteers. For working in nine days, they have already gathered more than 1000 tools, about 1, 345 Ibs of nails, cut lumbers of about 6, 965 and many more. It’s astonishing to note that the entire town people have contributed to the success of building this park. This park was created to thank people from Sapulpa when it’s the 100 birthday of the American Heritage Bank. The project costs $284, 125 and ninety percent of this came from the bank, and the remaining 10% came from the tile sales. It’s fascinating!
