She turned to head up to her room, the smallest one in the house, tucked away at the back near the garden door. It wasn’t much, but it was hers. Inside, it was a disaster. Clothes, books, and random junk scattered everywhere like a tornado had blown through. Her trunk was overflowing with robes from years past, some barely hanging by a thread. She sifted through the mess, tossing aside an old Gryffindor robe that was so worn out it couldn’t be saved and a few other random pieces she wasn’t sure she'd even worn.

After a moment of digging, she finally found a clean set of robes that weren’t drenched in Gryffindor colors. They were pale blue, soft from years of use, and the only ones she had that didn’t scream house pride the second you looked at them. They’d once belonged to her friend Sarah, a hand-me-down that had been too small for her, but now they fit Lily—just barely. They had that comforting, familiar feel of something well-worn and well-loved.

Lily slipped them on, smoothing out the wrinkles with a quick swipe of her hand. As she caught sight of herself in the mirror, she froze. She remembered the last time she’d worn these robes—when she met William in Diagon Alley two weeks ago. It had been a good day, mostly.

She’d managed to avoid kissing him, even though she’d been so close to doing it. Every time she leaned in, though, the vision hit. That flash of him bloody—kept interrupting her thoughts. It was impossible to forget. She hated the way it haunted her. William had definitely looked dejected, but he’d tried to act like everything was fine, even though she could tell he knew something was off.

They’d spent the day laughing—light, easy laughter that made everything feel brighter. And when it was time to say goodbye, he kissed her cheek. It had been sweet, innocent even, but the way he did it... like he knew she wasn’t fully there with him. And yet, he still tried. Her heart twisted.

Tonight, she was definitely going to kiss him again. No doubt about it. All she had to do was keep Severus distracted and—minor detail—make sure William stayed as far away from James Potter as possible. Like, for the rest of eternity.

A tiny voice in her head suggested she write to James, maybe drop a casual, “Hey, you might want to see a doctor.” But honestly, what kind of letter would that even be? Sure, they went to the same school and all, but it wasn’t like they’d been best friends all these years. Out of all the guys in her house, she’d gotten along with Sirius Black the best—and that was mostly because he was really funny.

Still, the thought lingered. Should she say something?

“Dear James, Hi, it’s Lily. So, funny story—well, not funny, funny—but I had a vision of you throwing up blood on my potential boyfriend, so maybe get that checked out? Okay, thanks. Bye.”

Yeah. No. That would go over great. Right up there with, “Hi, I’m Lily Evans, future psychic and part-time idiot.”

Ugh.

Quest for the Queen/The Pirate Fairy - Color Script by Barry Atkinson

So in an effort to truly dump as much as I can that has been spawned from A New Infection, here is a mostly complete list of all the alternate universes I have. Briar's characters feature in most of these, so go check out her descriptions and other universes linked at the end. Also! Any title in green only includes my characters, or at the very least, they're the main focus.( @pagesofcursive is Briar's blog, or you can click her name above)

- Family AU

Half our characters are toddlers! and are fostered by the other half. This alternate universe is almost purely fluff and fueled by chaos. The adults need help staying sane.

- Fusion AU

Follow all our characters through high school in a world that has laws from both universes; powerless people are the most populous, followed by elementals (Briar's universe) and vigilantes (my universe) at an even smaller population. There's fluff, plenty of angst, new relationships, and plenty of new, tragic backstories to discover. This alternate universe has the most polished stories, which we will be sure to post, as soon as someone is introduced.

- Game Show AU

Motivated by money, fame, friendship, or blackmail, our characters join a game show. There's betrayal, love, and old friendships being discovered, as everyone attempts to survive each weekly trial and not be eliminated before reaching the end.

- Hogwarts AU

We're both Harry Potter (not J.K Rowling) fans, so it was inevitable that we'd send everyone to Hogwarts. When a parent goes mad and threatens the wizarding world, it's up to our characters to reason with the twisted adult and save their community.

- Post-Apocalypse AU

This was created solely because of my indecisiveness; there are a few versions of ways the world would turn after being saved from the canon setting. The first short story I posted is set here, even though it's not explicitly stated. This is probably the least interesting AU, but possibly one of the more useful ones (for me at least)

- Royal AU

Scandals and servants, nobles and naughtiness; we put all our characters in a loosely fantastical medieval setting. Embodying various roles, two of our characters are neighboring princesses and employ the others. There are witches, demons, and mortal peril, and suffice to say, it's definitely an exciting time.

- Superhero AU

A New Infection characters live in a world of heroes, villains, and vigilantes. The characters are age curved, and they serve significant roles in their local metropolis. Living with gray morals, fraying patience unrecognised potential, Bella, Zach, and Freddie, masquerading under the names Scarlet Maiden, Bladed Officer, and Biohacker, strive to make their mark on the world.

- Survival AU

After being thrown in an arena and forced to battle by an unknown external source, the ten main characters plot and escape their prison and are now faced with surviving a winter wonderland and somehow finding their way home.

- The Perfect Family (TPF) AU

Freddie is officially adopted at a much younger age by Violetta and Aster. This alternate universe was formed by a selfish desire to write about more sapphic found families, balance out the angst, and give Freddie the childhood he needs.

So, yeah! These are all the AUs I've created (that I can currently remember) You can find Briar's post here since she and I wanted to create a list of all the universes we've come up with. Eventually, we may flesh out each concept, with character descriptions and roles exclusive to each universe. We'll also post stories set in many of these settings as we finish them, and we'll be sure to link to our respective master posts.

Disney Fairies Shipping Rant

(Warning: unpopular opinions ahead. You may disagree, but I’ll defend my opinions! I don’t mean offense to any of the people who like certain pairings in this series--what you like isn’t a reflection of you as a person, or your intelligence or heart, it’s that simple--I just have a hard time understanding why it is some of these are as popular as they are.)

I marked 4 “NOTPs” on that shipping meme, and...let’s talk about it, I guess!

I’ll start simple. Tink/Bobble:

This was particularly big back in the day with the first couple of TB movies before the majority latched onto Tink/Vidia. I never really “got it” but for the most part I wouldn’t have ever had reason to dislike them as a ship if it hadn’t been for the shippers themselves...

I liked Terence as a character, as well as his relationship with Tink, and the Bobble/Tink fans were very vocal about disparaging Terence in favor of Bobble, when that’s really unnecessary. It’s possible to like an underrated character without the need to bash a popular one just because you’re personally not interested in them.

I basically won’t go into it any more than I have in the past--after I did a two-part video reading of comments on this one Tink/Bobble fan art piece, I wrote up my feelings here and it still stands up. Basically the sight of the ship leaves a bad taste in my mouth not because of the characters involved themselves, but by the attitude the ship seemed to be entirely based on.

The only thing I would add is that I ship Bobble/Clank and to me, they’re as good as an old married couple that just wasn’t confirmed because it’s Disney :(

Clarion/Milori:

What can I even say? I’ve ranted extensively on my old blog, but to rehash, here’s the deal: There was no reason Milori’s character needed to be invented in the first place. The major plot holes and inconsistencies in The Secret of the Wings seemed to have prompted his becoming a character, but I think more importantly it was for the cliche, forced “forbidden romance” sub-plot between him and Clarion.

They didn’t need to replace the female Minister of Winter from her position to bring in this Lord of Winter, his role and existence wasn’t properly set up, and his backstory + relationship with Queen Clarion wasn’t developed at all, they just relied on the fact that having a tragically star-crossed love interest who’s attractive is enough for people to accept at face value.

And they were right, I guess... 🙄

So again, for me it’s not that the pairing of these two characters in inherently a bad thing, but it has never tracked for me that such an underdeveloped, boring pairing is one of the most popular in the fanbase, like most people just accepted it because it was canon and I’m like “we’re allowed to....NOT ship canon pairings, if they add nothing to the characters and story...you don’t have to just accept it”

Zarina/James:

This is another one that is a majorly popular ship in the fanbase, and to me it’s similar to shipping Anna with Hans, but possibly even worse. He manipulated her and tried to get away with murdering her. In James’ case, he emotionally/psychologically manipulated Zarina for A YEAR before betraying her and then tossing her into the sea to die.

There are a lot of people who think Hans should be able to have a redemption plotline, and I’ll make no comment about that, but the big difference between him and James is that we KNOW Hook will never be redeemed. We know he has never and will never feel remorse about his actions or treatment of Z.

He goes on to become the most fearsome pirate of all time, murdering without second thought--and still goes on to manipulate Tink and capture her in a lantern, because, I quote, “a jealous female can be tricked into anything.” His line in TPF mirrors this attitude (“Fairies are such gullible creatures”) so like....he is and will always be a misogynist who never held respect for Z or Tink or any fairy/female.

Also, The Pirate Fairy was as poorly written as SotW if not more so, and Z herself wasn’t a well-developed character, so I should say “to each their own” for anyone who wanted to believe there was chemistry between Z + James and ship them, but it’s gross and disgusting and wrong. (no offense)

Tink/Vidia:

Back to something much less sinful, but even more heretical within this fanbase. Vidia is one of THE most popular fairies from the movies, and Tink/Vidia is one of the most popular ships. That’s fine. My stance happens to be different, because I guess I don’t view things the exact same way.

Vidia was cruel to Tink at first--and she’s nowhere near as bad as James; she’d never seriously want to hurt/kill somebody. But even after she is redeemed from her antagonist position....she’s honestly still pretty b*tchy to her so-called “friends.” I won’t be forgetting the scene in Legend of the Neverbeast anytime soon when Gruff sneezes/gets snot on them, Rosetta says “ew, my mouth was open!” and Vidia replies “It’s always open.” Like, there’s just no need for that, ever, it’s mean-spirited and didn’t need to be said, it didn’t help anything.

People seem to love sarcastic characters with a secret heart of gold, but I just can’t dig the way Vidia is treated like this amazing character just because she didn’t turn out to be genuinely evil, no matter how her attitude stayed. In the books, her character is more interesting to me--and she’s portrayed as a mean person, but also she knows it and the narrative doesn’t treat her like one of the girls who, oh, it’s just okay that she treats her friends poorly!

So yeah, Tink/Vidia never sat right with me. Also, within the books, they actually hate each other, not even like a sassy frenemy relationship, they can’t stand each other. Tink does NOT have a lot of patience--she would never stand for Vidia’s nasty attitude and just not call her out on it every time. They would never work in a relationship.

So, the reason people will hate me for having this opinion is because many seem to embrace Vidia as this lesbian icon (like those posts about how if she was your favorite fairy growing up, you’re gay) and Tink/Vidia as this natural pairing to come from their interaction in the movies. Lots of people automatically ship it, and I can see the distaste toward Tink/Terence as if it’s the boring, straight ship with no merit besides being basically canon.

Nobody has to ship Tink/Terence if it’s not their thing--I happen to like them, but they objectively have a LOT of development throughout the books, films and other media. More so than any of the canon ships like Clarion/Milori which people ATE UP even though they had NO development. If you ship Clarion/Milori and think Tink/Terence is boring, ya basic and hypocritical, but I digress.

What I mean to say is that if you’re not into Tink/Terence or basic, overhyped “straight” ships in general, your other option is not immediately Tink/Vidia. I’m bisexual myself, so it’s not like I’m anti-Vidibell because of homophobia or something. I really enjoy and appreciate f/f and m/m ships as well, and there are so many amazing fairies to ship Tink with who would have a more healthy and beautiful dynamic--which I think...good representation is better? Just me??

Tink had a lot of chemistry with Silvermist, in fact, someone who is genuinely kind and caring for Tink and vice versa. Tink/Sil is probably the most beautiful and natural pairing in the whole movie series, and it’s like no one has ever even CONSIDERED it because it’s so much more entertaining to have an enemies-to-lovers dynamic with the fairy who was mean to Tink, rather than the one who objectively cared the MOST.

Also, Tink and Zarina--they had a helluva dynamic in TPF. Stay hydrated with a drinking water game every time there’s a potential moment to read into wrt shipping them in that film. But then people want to ship Zarina with a man who tried to kill her instead.

So that’s the thing--I’m not mad at Tink/Bobble and Tink/Vidia because they go against Tink/Terence, but because of the attitude about it when arguably there are way better options than the ones people promote and those ones get entirely ignored and overlooked. It just grinds my gears. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you ship these pairing, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings by calling them out like they’re these awful things--tbh the only one of these that I genuinely think is entirely and inherently bad in concept, is James/Z and I have no remorse if I offend anyone who ships that. Unfollow me, nasty.

To explain that in practice: if a picture of Clarion/Milori, Tink/Vidia or Tink/Bobble is cute, I’m still gonna reblog it and even tag it for those who enjoy the ships, because it doesn’t hurt me or anyone even if it’s not my taste. If J/Z is ever even implied I’m blocking people XD

She should’ve seen it coming. 

William Kedelig had caught her eye the very first day on the train, back in first year. Four whole years ago at this point. And William wasn’t just cute—he was Level 10 gorgeous. He was brilliant in every class (the obvious pick for Head Boy), could make anyone laugh, and was basically the human version of a golden retriever. Oh, and he’d been the one to teach Lily how to fly a broomstick in second year. He hadn't taught anyone else how to fly, just her. 

William was Quidditch captain last year, and she’d been at every single one of his games, cheering like a lunatic. William had even lent her his gold and scarlet jersey after the last game because she’d been cold. All the girls said he fancied her, even the twins, who were oblivious half the time. So yeah, the fact that she had feelings for William Kedelig was about as surprising as the sky being blue.

The problem? Well, when Lily finally got her long-awaited kiss with William—at the very end of her third year, no less—it hadn’t exactly gone according to plan. Not exactly the dream scenario for a first kiss, if she were being honest.

And to make things worse? She hadn’t frozen up because of nerves or anything normal like that. No, she’d turned to stone because she’d had one of her stupid visions again. No one knew about her weird premonitions. They’d started when she was little, just random flashes of things that seemed real. Back then, her mom had called them “gut feelings” and told her not to worry about it. But by now, Lily was pretty sure they weren’t just gut feelings.

Of course, it didn’t help that she’d picked Divination as her second extracurricular last year, all because Sarah Beckett had begged her to. And thanks to all the crystal ball-gazing, long divination sessions, and tea leaf-reading, Lily had pieced it together: her so-called “premonitions” were likely more than lucky gut feelings. She was a seer, of some sort, at least. 

Which, great. Just what every girl wants when she’s trying to have her first kiss with the most gorgeous guy in school.

Aeronáutica abre novo processo seletivo com 526 vagas para profissionais de nível médio

Iniciando a semana com muitas oportunidades para aqueles que sonham em entrar para a Aeronáutica, foram abertas recentemente, o total de 526 vagas para diversos profissionais, que atuam nos mais variados setores. Dessa forma, listaremos logo abaixo, quais são os segmentos contemplados, e como se inscrever nos processos seletivos.

Foram anunciadas a abertura de inscrições para o preenchimento das 526 vagas voltadas para profissionais pelo Comando da Aeronáutica.

Segundo o edital divulgado, os inscritos devem ter certificado de conclusão do nível médio, para ser possível fazer parte do processo seletivo para a prestação de serviço militar voluntário e temporário, do qual as práticas terão início no ano de 2023 (QSCon 1-2021) nas mais diversas áreas de atuação.

Sobre o processo de inscrição

As inscrições devem ser feitas pelo site da Força Aérea Brasileira e terão início no dia 3 de novembro de 2022, encerrando-se no dia 24 de novembro de 2022 às 23h59min.

Confira quais são as exigências para conseguir uma das vagas

Entre as exigências divulgadas para concorrer às vagas, os candidatos devem portar certificado de conclusão do ensino médio, possuir documento de comprovação de formação técnica ou superior nas áreas ofertadas e idade inferior a 41 até a data de inscrição no registro comercial.

Uma vez alistado para a realização do EAP/EIP, o voluntário gozará do direito de um vencimento mensal e demais direitos remuneratórios correspondentes ao grau de 3º Sargento nos termos da legislação que rege a remuneração dos militares das Forças Armadas.

O Estágio de Adaptação disporá de 12 meses de duração, dos quais serão contados a partir da data de constituição.

O que você precisa saber sobre o processo de classificação

O processo de classificação se baseará na entrega de documentos, validação de documentos, avaliação do currículo, concentração de entrada, exames médicos, avaliação psicológica, teste de aptidão física, concentração final e qualificação de colocação.

Fareseed's TF2 story.

Author’s Note: This text was originally written in 2015 for Fenrir Darkfang’s “Stories of TPF” interview series. Text will more or less be the same as what was sent to Fenrir during that time, though I have added onto the text with newer info for the time that has passed. Thank you for reading.

I first saw Team Fortress 2 on a let’s play on YouTube. Many years later I got to play the game on a tournament on a game design course. At the same course, I got to play MvM too.

A year later, June 17, 2013, on the same course again, I got to play in another tournament on that course. On chrismas the same year that, I finally got something that could run the game.

On January 02, 2014, I got a gift I will never part from. A Southern Hospitality, from a player named RaiSaiyan. With the Name- and Description Tags I got from Smissmas, I renamed the weapon. The day after, I was able to find him and a few other people on an MvM server, I explained to him that I was the one who had gotten the Giftapult Gift. We and the others on the servers became friends.

I wanted to show my gratitude and give them some things in return. But as a free to play, I could not trade, but one of the players on the server, Truder, gave me a gift greater then any, the Premium Gift, and a Liberty Launcher, I renamed it when I got my second Name Tag.

There were another player, that sadly has been VAC banned from the game there, also a good person and a friend during our time together, AskuzBlack (currently known as Askuz Daihon'ei Falkner).

We played together for a long time… but when the summer hit, I was not able to play the game as for lack of internet connection. After that summer, I have not been playing with them…

During many months, I played in a “friendly server”, then I dissapeared from the game for months.

I came back a few months before the Gun Mettle update, and at that time, I reset my stats as I was not proud of it.

After starting to follow, Uncel Dan, Muselk and Mr Paladin on youtube, I started to try and learn all I could. I found ArraySevens youtube channel and started to learn things about the Medic from his videos.

When Mr.Paladin made the video about Team Play First during 2015, I knew I had to join, and wanted to help, because I knew that Teamwork is Magic.

In the group I meet many friends that I am keeping contact with, Fenrir Darkfang, Quangohutt and many more. The closest of us got pulled together into Fenrir’s old ETF2L highlander team, Luces Nocturnis. We competed in season 9 of ETF2L highlander open, but we hit trouble after week 2, and our second loss of the tournament. You can say we just got to sit around. The teams we where meant to fight during weeks 3 to 5, they had disbanded. So we only got to fight for 4 weeks out of the 7 weeks the tournament would last. You can imagine the frustration we all felt over it.

When the tournament was over and we all got our focus back on enjoying our time on -TPF-, there quickly became troubles for the community. The whole mess culminating into the community staff leaving, with just me and some passionate members tried to keep the group afloat. But it didn’t last for long.

After -TPF-’s fall in the summer of 2016, I wandered aimlessly, taking a break from TF2 to think, still keeping in contact with the other LuNo members over Discord. Months later when I returned, I tried to work with the remnants of -TPF- that formed the group, Outside the Box, but I never where successful with playing with them, server being on the other side of the Atlantic and all that.

During the early to late spring of 2017 I found another group to join; Trigger Happy Gamers. The group had dated back since before TF2’s release, and had their servers located in Europe. It is a blast (and sometimes frustrating) playing with all of the server regulars. Been hard to find a local TF2 community server that isn’t an instant respawn, 24/7, (one map and/or gamemode only) server. But one that has a map rotation with both official and custom maps on it, with a good chunk nearing if not already are in an RC state.

There are three classes of Team Fortress 2 that I like to play, my Main; Engineer, my Secondary; Pyro and my third choice, Medic.

With Engineer, I want to be a key defender of the team objective, and area denial. With Rescue Ranger, Wrangler and Southern in tow, I will put my life to stop the capture, payload and intel.

As Pyro, I want to defend the Engineers with my Coffin Nail Flamethrower, Coffin Nail Shotgun and Homewrecker. Spies will regret the day they crossed my path.

As a Medic, I will help the team, build up Über, and bring some doctor assisted homoscide. With the Crusaders Crossbow, Mediguns and Bonesaws will brig the team back.
