"An Ontario judge has dismissed a $1-million libel action by three nurses who faced disciplinary action for their anti-vaccine views during the pandemic, calling the plantiffs' decision to sue "puzzling" and "surprising." 

The lawsuit was dismissed by the court under Ontario's anti-SLAPP legislation. SLAPP stands for strategic lawsuit against public participation and is a legal manoeuvre traditionally used by the rich and powerful to intimidate, silence and/or bankrupt opponents. Ontario introduced legislation in 2015 designed to protect against such gag proceedings from using the courts to silence expression on matters of public interest. 

Kristen Nagle of London, Ont., Kristal Pitter of Tillsonburg, Ont., Sarah Choujounian of Toronto and the Canadian Frontline Nurses filed their court action in December 2021, alleging the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and independent B.C. news outlet Together News Inc. (TNI) caused harm to their personal and professional reputations with separate online articles published in the fall of 2021.

In her 29-page decision issued Dec. 23, Superior Court Justice Marie-Andrée Vermette sided with the defendants, saying the plaintiffs "failed to establish they have suffered sufficiently serious harm" and "failed to show a causal link between the harm they allege and the publications in issue."

Vermette cited the anti-SLAPP legislation, saying there were "significantly more important sources of harm" to the nurses' reputations that were "unrelated" to the publications, including: 

Professional misconduct investigations of all three nurses by the province's nursing regulator, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).The fact all three nurses were terminated from their respective jobs with cause.Numerous media reports about the the nurses, including articles by what the court called "high-profile media organizations."

Vermette also called into question the plaintiffs' decision to sue in the first place, calling it "puzzling," given that similar information appeared in "numerous" other articles published in Canada.

She also said the decision to specifically sue TNI, "a small and regional media organization," was "particularly surprising" because the plaintiffs "chose to ignore similar expressions made by media giants."

Alexander Boissonneau-Lehner, the lawyer for the plaintiffs, responded "no comment" in an email when reached by CBC News on Tuesday. 

The court's decision to dismiss the lawsuit under anti-SLAPP legislation is the latest judgment against anti-vaccine and anti-science groups attempting to use the courts to silence and intimidate critics. 

Until the COVID-19 pandemic, SLAPP suits were the traditional tactic of the rich and powerful to bully critics into silence, but the legal tactic has been increasingly used lately by those spreading health misinformation in an attempt to hush critics."

Ce matin, un élève est venu avec une nouvelle : les élections fédérales.

Hier soir tous les citoyens canadiens ont voté pour élire le Premier ministre (= président) canadien.

Chaque province du Canada vote pour un député d'un parti. La majorité de voix pour des députés d'un même parti permet au chef du parti de devenir Premier ministre canadien.

Le représentant député de la province du Québec et le Premier ministre ne sont pas du même parti.

Le Premier ministre est donc élu en minoritaire, car la majorité des représentants députés ne sont pas de son parti.

Autrement, au battement de 5 min entre la première et deuxième périodes, je me suis rendu compte qu'un groupe d'élèves de 6ème année se rendaient dans la classe de 1ère année (CP) pour leur faire la lecture.

Fin de journée à la bibliothèque à côté de l'école pour y faire de la lecture seul, ou bien faire la lecture aux maternelles 4-5ans s'ils sont ensemble le jour de la sortie bibliothèque. C'est aussi un temps pour les élèves, s'ils le souhaitent, d'emprunter des livres.

En revenant en classe, il restait quelques minutes, ils ont fait un jeu de calcul mental en duel sur le TNI "activ'inspire". Le plus rapide des deux gagnait. Ainsi de suite, jusqu'au duel des deux meilleurs. Le gagnant gagne 2 points sur son tableau de points. (qui rassemble, comportement, bon travail ...)

AASAM adalah keterampilan bertarung tempur pada kompetisi senjata yang mencakup sistem senjata ringan yang dipakai saat ini, yang bersaing pada tingkat individu dan unit. Adapun pelatihan ini difokuskan pada penerapan senjata yang akurat yang mendasari keberhasilan operasional dan misi.

AASAM menguji secara cermat kemampuan dan keahlian petembak yang bersaing secara individual dan berkelompok, untuk memberikan patokan (benchmark) untuk memvalidasi standar petembak, peralatan, sistem pelatihan untuk individu dan tim, yang bersaing secara internasional.

Sebelumnya, pada AASAM 2016 tahun lalu Prajurit Kostrad TNI AD juga berhasil mendominasi perolehan medali yang juga berlangsung di Puckapunyal Military Area, Victoria, Melbourne, Australia yang diselenggarakan pada 3-30 Mei 2016. Pada saat itu, kontingen TNI AD yang bertanding di Melbourne tersebut berjumlah 19 orang dengan komandan kontingen Mayor Inf. Safrudin yang menjabat sebagai Kasi Operasi Staf Operasi Divisi Infanteri 1 Kostrad.

Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P. secara resmi membuka “Gebyar Karya Pertiwi dan Military Attache Spouses Culture tahun 2019” di Gedung Balai Sudirman, Jl. Dr. Saharjo No. 268, Jakarta Selatan, Rabu (13/11/2019). Panglima TNI dalam sambutannya menyampaikan apresiasi yang tinggi, khususnya kepada Ketua Umum Dharma Pertiwi Ny. Nanny Hadi Tjahjantobeserta jajarannya, yang telah menginisiasi kegiatan ini sebagai bagian dari rangkaian HUT Ke-74 TNI tahun 2019.  “Saya sangat menghargai prakarsa kegiatan Gebyar Karya Pertiwi dan Military Attache Spouses Culture tahun 2019,” ucapnya. “Dalam satu tempat, kita tidak hanya dapat melihat kekayaan budaya Indonesia. Kita juga dapat mengetahui kekayaan budaya dari negara-negara sahabat. Ditambah lagi Gebyar Karya Pertiwi juga mengedepankan peningkatan ekonomi kreatif sesuai dengan program Pemerintah,” tambahnya. Panglima TNI mengungkapkan bahwa Indonesia adalah negeri yang sangat indah dan kaya akan keberagaman budaya. Begitu pula dengan negara-negara di dunia yang memiliki kekhasannya masing-masing.  “Semua itu tentu saja tidak dapat dipisahkan dari kehidupan sosial budaya masyarakat setempat,” katanya. Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Panglima TNI menyampaikan terima kasih dan penghargaan kepada seluruh Atase Pertahanan negara sahabat beserta isteri yang telah turut memeriahkan acara ini serta mengucapkan terima kasih dan penghargaan kepada seluruh peserta dan semua pihak yang telah mendukung kegiatan ini. “Semoga kontribusi kita semua semakin memperkuat ketahanan ekonomi dan ke-Bhinneka Tunggal Ika-an bangsa Indonesia,” tutupnya.

Gebyar Karya Pertiwi  dan Military Attache Spouses Culture 2019 dengan tema “Peningkatan Usaha Mandiri Untuk Menunjang Ekonomi Kreatif dan Menambah Pendapatan Keluarga” akan berlangsung mulai tanggal 13 s.d. 15 November 2019 di Balai Sudirman, Jakarta Selatan. Ada tiga kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu : Pertama, bazar produk menampilkan 198 stan produk kreatif dan berkualitas berasal dari subsektor fashion, kuliner dan kriya dari Perwakilan Dharma Pertiwi seluruh tanah air, serta 20 Atase Pertahanan Negara sahabat (China, Mexico,  Pakistan,  Polandia, South Korea, Thailand,  Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, PNG,  Rusia, Philippines,  Vietnam,  Australia,  Brazil, Canada,  Japan,  New zealand, Spain, Inggris), dan masyarakat umum. Kedua, seni budaya menghadirkan pertunjukan seni dan budaya dengan tema  nusantara yang melibatkan berbagai perwakilan Atase Militer Negara sahabat.
