@tmaynt Day 19: Best Casey Jones

Each Casey is so unique it's hard to pick the best, but 03 Casey will always seem like the Best Casey to me (probably because he was the first one I watched lol) He's a bit of a hot headed jock, but he's got a good heart and you can't help but love him.

Rise Casey Jr lived through the FLIPPIN APOCALYPSE and watched his loved ones die and then was sent back through time to save the day, and he kept him self together and that's impressive as heck.

When I was trying to figure out how to draw them, I figured that 03 Casey would try to make conversation by talking about a shared interest, only to find out that, well, there wasn't much Hockey during the end of the world. 03 Casey is going to fix that. *cue montage of Casey Jr learning how to play ice hockey*

Day 19 of @tmaynt! I've got a soft spot for '03 Casey. He was my introduction to the character, and is still where my brain goes first when I think "Casey Jones."

I actually don't really have much of a preference among the Caseys, but Rise Casey Jr. doesn't get enough love imo. Hence why I have chosen him for today.

Rise Casey is pretty underrated in my opinion. I see a lot of complaints about how he's kind of boring and his character isn't fleshed out super well, but in his defense, his entire character only existed in the movie. A movie in which a lot of other stuff was going on and other character arcs needed to have more focus for the sake of the plot. There really wasn't a good chance for Casey Jr. to be anything more than a loyal follow of future Leo simply because there wasn't enough time. I think the writers did a good job with what they were working with.

His character design is also one of my favorite of the Caseys. I don't think any Casey design will beat my favorite (that being 2012), but this might be a good close second. His design embodies all the previous traits about Casey that make Casey who he is. The gloves and slightly janky teeth are a good call back to 2012's design. He's got the mullet and the iconic mask all the Caseys sport (the mask being very essential). He also has his own thing too. To my early-morning-not-willing-to-search-things-up knowledge, Casey Jr. is the only Casey with facial hair. He has that awkward teen whiskers going on there. This seems fitting, since I doubt the kid is gonna be clean shaven in the apocalypse.

Casey Jr.'s build also works really well within this context. He's a teenager, so he's still got some growing to do. He's training a lot, so he's going to be on the more muscular side of things, but not too jacked, because while rats are probably high in protein, I doubt they're big enough or Casey is eating enough of them to get super huge. Casey Jr. probably has my favorite build out of all the Caseys. Previous Caseys tend to look like body builders, and as much as I love 2012 Casey's design, he looks like a twig. This design is a nice balance of the two body types and feels realistic to me.

Okay, I did not mean to rant this long about Casey. It's almost 3AM, I should be sleeping, but I am doing this. Also, you know what, screw it. Casey Jr. is no longer my obligatory choice for best Casey just because I think no one will choose him. Casey Jr. is my favorite Casey, no matter what I say when I wake up tomorrow.
