A reminder that Glinda having either dyslexia/dysgraphia or a learning disability is canon in the Movieverse.

This is the same paper that we see her get back in this scene, in which we can see this was a large essay too.

There's nothing rushed to her handwriting, this was not an essay done at the last minute, and still, it shows several signs of a learning disability and/or dysgraphia.

Misspells her name in the second line

Wrong and inconsistent pronoun usage

Her margin spacing is consistent with someone who can't do proper syllable division

Immature transcription (see: writes her "um"s)

Limited vocabulary

Shows signs of: difficulty expressing ideas in writing, having a limited vocabulary, mispronouncing words or using a wrong word that sounds similar, and having trouble organizing what she wants to say. Those are all symptoms of a learning disability.

Less of a checklist sign, but her handwriting is very round and careful, while still not being consistently sized (see unfashionable). This and the margin sizes are very common in kids with bad dysgraphia who are made to take rigorous calligraphy courses to "fix the problem". Courses that work on the visual without remedying its underlying issues and causes. Form over content if you will.

Looking at this very blatant sign that she has a learning disability and immediately defaulting to calling her names (yes calling her stupid and saying Elphaba is a moronsexual for this counts), asking how she got into Shiz, or defending Dillamond in doing the very first thing teachers are told NOT to do with disabled students (re: calling attention to it in front of the entire class) is ableist!

hi copper!!! this is a fantastic question!

so obviously typical irl rats have far shorter lifespans than the average irl tortoise. according to google (yes, be awed by my spectacularly in-depth wealth of research) the average pet rat lives between 2-4 years ish, and the oldest on record lived to be about 7. meanwhile, an African spurred tortoise (Splinter's species) averages more around a 50ish year lifespan in captivity, tho is suspected to possibly exceed 75 or more in the wild.

Now, the mutation does give us a lot of wiggle room for playing with these numbers. For the rat sons boys, id say their natural lifespan probably clocks in at about 45-55 years old? definitely not old by human standards, but not young young either. (though, its also important to note that the boys were exposed to the mutagen just days after being born.)

For Splinter, meanwhile, aging is slightly more complicated. He lived the vast majority of his life as a regular normal African spurred tortoise (well, non-mutated at least. there were perhaps some shenanigans of a more mystical variety going on before he was mutated, but thats a separate matter) He was about 70ish i think? when the boys were born and they were all exposed to the mutagen. so he is already distinctly an old man turtle papa. id guess he'd probably still have another eh lets say 25-30 years after his mutation. he could probably push it a little farther even with some mystic nonsense, but when push comes to shove id say his 'natural' post-mutation lifespan would put his death like a solid decade or two before his sons.

of course, the tricky part of the matter is that theres no way for Splinter to know any of this. theres no way for him to know how the mutation affected them all, or if it even affected them all in the same way. especially since the boys dont show many physical signs of mutation for the first few years, and just kinda look like normal rats, (albeit with a more human sort of intelligence) — what sort of health standard do you hold them to? what if they simply dont show external signs of sickness or old age anymore? how do you actually know if something is wrong?

for a while there Splinter is very worried that one of his babies will just essentially reach the end of their normal rat lifespan, fall and not get up again.

so mostly, he just tries to live in the moment, enjoying whatever time he does have with his little ones, taking each day as a gift <3

Is it just me or were Beetee and Wiress somehow treated like NPCs again despite having bigger roles? Like they were just there for exposition. Again. They were tortured just to prop up D12 characters. Again.

beetee and wiress were both so important in cf and sotr and yet every time they’re anywhere it’s like there only there to be important to D12 characters. to me this was much more prevalent in sotr since in cf at least bee and wire both have the rebellion, but in sotr the rebellion was just kind of used as a plot device??? and everyone seemed to decide that haymitch was the one to carry it out, and even the other D3 characters as well??? like no offense to ampert but it makes much more sense for the gamemakers to just kill him in the beginning since they didn’t know what ampert would do, if anything. it would have made much more logical sense for them to go better safe than sorry and kill him in the beginning and not wait until he does something to potentially ruin their arena and then kill the entire D3 group of tributes. doesn't make sense and he was clearly just used as a plot device. honestly the way D3 as a whole was treated in this book just pissed me off. this entire book isn’t canon in my mind.

I just wanted to swing by and drop my absolute batshit ramblings because I’m genuinely eating this fic up. ((Huge horror fan)) I can’t help but notice everytime Ducky/Badger/We- go a little off the deep end.

I first noticed it with the fight with Dolly, the way we really do shift into this biting, growling dog, which is ironic considering it’s brought up in the story. There was a second time but this third time, where we go digging through Chet.. the way we dangle that we know who’s killing them, like it’s a dark little secret. (And so long as the polls are willing-) it is only the councilors right now, we know Sun and Moon are doing these things and we’ve, again so far- skipped past with only scrapes and bruises.

The way we got dark when Devin called us Ducky- “are we useful again?” It sounds so mean, like the wrong word being said and it would be *us* doing him in. And I have full, FULL believe that Moon/Sun hadn’t left us that entire time. Surely they’ve noticed this too. ((If this is real and I’m not heavily delusional!))

I dunno, maybe I just think it’s funny if Sun (and Moon?) had a ‘I can Fix them’ attitude with us instead haha. /j. (Unless?) anywho I’m cradling their cheeks and putting a thunder-buddy on Sun. 💛

Consistent stress can really take a toll on one's mind. It has the ability to make you feel numb, confused, or outright hysterical, and oftentimes when someone has been under heavy amounts of stress for long periods of time, it can blur the line between "right and wrong". What we're seeing now is the result of someone being pushed to — and past — their limits.

It goes deeper than that, of course. The underlining "lesson" to be learned in this story is that everyone — no matter their upbringing, no matter their assumed ethics, no matter the mistakes they've made — has the same capacity to make decisions that are morally admirable and morally condemnable. Morality functions like a light-switch; there's no locking it to just one side, and every situation is going to be handled differently based on not only one's own perceived sense of moral code but also outside influences. Even Oscar, who only ever treated Y/N kindly for their entire friendship, slowly sank back into old habits and behaviors once reintroduced to the friend group.

Sun, himself, does not think what he's doing is "bad" to begin with. In this scenario, he believes himself the hero.

The problem here, then, is that the two of them are fighting over the moral light-switch, both believing themselves to be in the right, and neither of them realizes that in doing so they're giving everyone else in the room a goddamn seizure.

Lee can basically hate Kenny the entirety of the first season and then the fandom defends Kenny for his actions.

Clearly most of us totally understand Kenny’s response to Lee’s and by extension Clementine’s behavior, so why can’t they understand Violet’s response to Clem’s? Makes no sense to me

honestly i feel like aside from having a male bias the fandom has more of a kenny bias than a protag bias. i see his ass EVERYWHERE. i really dont understand why some people act So Shocked by violets reaction in the cells. like hello?? YOU did this to her??? shes done nothing but put herself on the line for clem (even if clem is mean and ungrateful about it), and the One time vi needs clem to have her back, she doesnt (even tho its an impossible choice to make, and deep down vi understands this). and people shock pikachu face when it pushes her back to minnie like no shit??? but i dont think theyre even paying attention to violets character in the first place so 🙄😑 violet settled into that leadership position on her own and not only do you strip her of that role by letting her get taken she also feels discarded by the One Person who was actually influencing her to change for the better in the first place. AND you can do it all 20 minutes after kissing her. of course shes hurt!!! but people act like shes soooo unreasonable for her behavior (and vi would later agree with them! she tries apologizing to clem on the beach actually. thats how quickly she regrets it. but its too late at that point for her i guess 🙄 irredeemable. to the stocks)

kenny will Literally refuse to help lee look for clem if you pissed him off too much like 😭?? if you arent kissing kennys ass 24/7 he is the worlds biggest bitch about it. but endless excuses for kennys behavior for some reason 🤨 him trying to save ben (or christa but its better with ben narratively) is his first Real selfless act and its why its such a compelling conclusion for his S1 arc (only compounded by the fact its BEN of all people hes trying to save, the reason his family is dead). and S2 kenny is all about how his mental health is in sharp decline and hes becoming more violent as he attempts to control what he cannot ��� kenny defenders out here using up all the oxygen in the room to make excuses for his actions but the minute vi makes One mistake she immediately regrets (after being nothing but loyal), shes an evil bitch deserving of what she got 😐

since damian doesn’t really have his own green lantern, i decided to create one: tala >:3 more information can be found here about her but a very basic summary can be found here.

tldr version: tala is a 13-15 filo-american that uses her green lantern abilities to be a magical girl bc she’s a HUGE anime fan. with damian also being an anime fan… u can imagine the chaos that ensues

hal jordan is her mentor, so you can imagine the amount of annoyance damian holds for her. much like her mentor, she’s impulsive and acts before she thinks. but she has a big heart and always aim to do the Right Thing. much like batman, damian often insults her but unlike her mentor… she never really catches it. if she does, she’s left unbothered

damian follows her tumblr + ao3 acc. he did it to figure out her secret identity but she all she does is post about anime & write precure fanfiction. he does NOT find anything useful except what she believes is the Correct Ships for sailor moon

they discuss anime together. while tala leans more to the magical show genre, she enjoys shoujo. and with a lot magical anime girls being apart of the shoujo genre they are able to bond >:3 she makes damian watch anime and unlike hal, he’s able to follow up with what’s going on. she gets so excited about that and declares him as her “best friend” (he refuses the title but can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy inside)

being the youngest in the family… they complain about older siblings. while tala only has one, that one is equal to damian’s 5… her sister makes fun of her interest in anime (despite watching it with her in the past. so, if anything, her sister is a hypocrite)

damian actually enjoys some of the fanfiction she wrote. he actually makes fanart for her works. and when they get older & tala needs a job… she becomes an author and damian (who wants an outlet for his superhero work bc that shit is stressful!) is an illustrator for her works

i imagine they’d meet thru being apart of a team together, all with heroes their own age and NOT friends with damian’s other family members bc i’m tired of him being friends with characters that were initially the other batfamily’s teams (kory for jason, raven for damian, etc)

it’s great for both of them because neither have worked with a team before outside of their own mentors (hal jordan or bruce wayne/dick grayson) with other members they’re challenged to work with new ppl (which u often deal with in life threatening emergencies) + learn from each other
