Even years later, the thing that still gets me with one where Stephen has to leave early is the ridiculous level of intimacy that exists there. Jon not even flinching with Stephen pretty much wrapping himself around him, Jon's right hand pulling Stephen in & the other on the back of the neck (never getting over that). Also if you think they don't kiss, if you see the whole thing when Jon turns back, you'll notice Jon does not turn his head far enough for Stephen to kiss his cheek. They either kissed or Stephen kissed right next to Jon's lips which is actually somehow more intimate. & remember that these two had only known each other for two years & were not socialising outside of work (although somehow found time to write a sitcom pilot for Stephen together).
I'm pretty sure these two rewired each others brains when they met.

Awkward Stewbert from election specials part 2!
This was from early '05 so a good few months before Stephen leaves for The Colbert Report & I think they were trying to solidify more of the character Stephen's backstory before he left.
If you're wondering why the usual bluster has been replaced with this weird almost needy meekness, I'm pretty sure at this point 'Stephen' was already in love with Jon & not wanting to deal with it & as you can see, his home life is currently not doing great.
Off the top of my head, I don't think 'Stephen' acted like this again before he left which is why this one always stood out to me.
Poor repressed 'Stephen'. You'll get your cottagecore ending eventually 馃槀
& yes, Jon has a cold.

Welcome to The Late Night Archive! (UPDATED FOR 2025)
Hi! My name is Victoria, I鈥檓 a huge Jon Stewart fan (understatement of the century) & I am the owner of The Late Night Archive.
What is The Late Night Archive?
Its a big fuck you to Paramount basically. It's an archive of basically everything that Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Craig Ferguson, Conan O'Brien, Trevor Noah (& as many other TDS correspondents as I can) have ever done.
After the online archive was wiped, there is now no longer an easy way for anyone to watch any of our beloved Late Night Hosts back catalogue. So, I took it upon myself to create a way for this to happen simply because I believe Paramount made a stupid fucking decision & thanks to my health, I have the time required to do it.
It's still a work in progress but I'm making really good headway on it & it will actually be finished at some point, but I am only one person so don't expect it to be done tomorrow.
*EDIT* I have actually had to split up the archive as due to new developments, there is simply too much for one archive now.聽
I will link it when it is complete.
This blog will basically be used to post updates & clips of TDS/TCR/Stewbert etc that either do not exist on this site or have been removed because of the archive wipe. FUCK PARAMOUNT.
The other use is Jon Stewart thirst posts as I have been willingly doing his bidding since I first saw him late at night on BBC2 in 1997. Yes, I am indeed old lol. & British. Sorry 馃槅
So if there is anything specific people would like to see or just want to shout into the void about Jon Stewart, ask away! 馃槉
