Evidence linked will be mostly in the form of call out posts that can be found by searching an accounts username on tumblr. If you are suspicious of an ask you receive, I suggest you please do the bare minimum and search their username on tumblr to see if they've been reported by other users to be a scam.

Reasons why all of these blogs listed here are scams:

Those saying they are 'vetted/verified' will not say by who.

Those saying they 'live(d) in Gaza' know nothing about it.

Those saying they are diabetic have no idea how diabetes works.

Their PayPal.me name are used by other scam accounts.

They use stolen stories/images (if searched via google).

They use multiple blogs to run the same scam.

They will reuse the same story word for word from past accounts.

They will block you if you try and ask questions. Go on. Do it.

They really like changing their 'real name(s). like, a lot.

Their accounts are only a few days/weeks/1-4 months old.

They reblog 5-10 things irreverent things then stop.

The list of evidence goes on and on.

If you have any doubts about the validity of this post:

I would not, nor would I ever, willingly or knowingly put someone on this list if I knew 100%, without a doubt, that they were a real, genuine person looking for help.

I (personally) have spent hours of my time gathering evidence in the form of searching names, copy/pasting things over and over into tumblr and google just to try and find different blogs, taking screenshots and making collages in photoshop, writing down and making entire in depth posts about how and why a blog is or isn't running a scam.

And I'm not the only one who does this.

Scam buster blogs, helpful users/anons, and many others, have been looking into and tracking these scammers for months.

These are not individuals we just saw on tumblr and decided to pick on for shits and giggles.

They are scammers.

They don't care about whose story they use or whose pictures they stole. They don't care how it effects someone or what lives they ruin.

All they care about is money.

So, remember to report their PayPal accounts if you can please. :)

I'm sure many of you are already aware of this, but in case I have any newer tumblr users, pet bill donation scams are very common on this site. If someone DMs or sends you an ask asking you to reblog some sort of donation post for a sick/injured pet, it is most likely a scam.

Below the cut, I have included tips to spotting a scam, and why I believe the post by 507-on-queue is a scam. @kyra45 runs an excellent tumblr scam awareness blog, and has more information and tips here about spotting pet scams. I have archived the scam post in question on my side blog here.

Here's some ways to spot these scams:

Age of the blog - most scam blogs are a week old or younger, they are often under a day old

Similar urls being used for multiple blogs - scam blogs are typically blocked/deleted rapidly, and the OP makes a new account with almost the same name

The blog bio/pfp are not unique

You can only access the dashboard view of the blog so the post archive cannot be accessed (for example, my dashboard view is this, but you can also visit my webpage view and see my 9 years of post history via /archive lol)

The blog has never interacted with you before

The blog follows you and immediately sends a DM/ask

The DM/ask is overly polite and guilt trips (they often ask you to reply privately to reduce digital footprint)

Images of pets can be found via reverse image search

OP's story is inconsistent or unrealistic

The Paypal link does not match the supposed country OP lives in

Most recently, a scam post has been going around about a sphynx cat named Draven. This has been done using multiple urls, including:

Here's how this blog meets our scam watch criteria:

The current blog (507-onqueue) is less than a day old (19 hours at the time of this post). The oldest post:

As listed above, OP uses multiple, similar URLs.

The bio of 507-onqueue is taken almost directly from another user (said user). Due to the same bio being used in previous scams, I suspect this is the same or related person to kappa-tundra/kappatundra (about this scam).

The blog follows and immediately DMs/sends and ask. From my account:

The ask from the account is very polite, guilt trips, and asks me to answer to the post privately. The goal of being so polite is to win your trust and lower your defenses. This isn't the worst guilt trip I've been in a scam (that goes to the child support scam from several years ago). By asking me to reply privately, they're attempting to reduce their digital footprint (making them harder to google) and disguise how much they are spamming asks.

The information in that post was taken from a private Facebook account (source). I found the Facebook account in question and confirmed that the information was taken from there. I do not want to share the page because I view that as a further violation of the Facebook OP's privacy. For transparency, the images of Draven are not on Facebook OP's page any longer, but there are several other identifiable pieces of information that make it more than likely that the claims of her information being stolen are true.

The ask is inconsistent itself with the name of the cat (Draven vs Indie). This is also nearly identical to another scam ask from user captbridges. This user was using a real GoFundMe for a sick cat to scam.

The medical paperwork in OP's post is for a veterinary hospital in Wisconsin. However, OP's PayPal is based in the Philippines. The country.x= part of the url indicate the country of origin of the account; PH is the Philippines. The local.x= part of the url shows that the link was localized to the United States (making the donation currency USD). (PayPal's information page about country codes).

Stay safe out there and remain vigilant, everyone. If you don't already know them, try to pick up some boolean operators to refine your google searches when checking for scams. The tumblr search function sucks, so this is your best bet of finding information about scams like these online.

Anyone Else?

I am 18 years old and I just found out I am intersex.

I started puberty at an earlier age than average. I had severe acne, oily skin, and hirsutism in second grade. I remember my dad telling me to wash my face because I was getting "a type of pimple called a blackhead" (he had to explain to me what it was, I had never heard of them) when he dropped me off at before-school daycare at 7 years old. When I told my mom I had hair under my arms that same year, she flat-out refused to believe me. She simply said I did not, that it was impossible.

I started shaving my legs in third grade, after begging my parents to let me for a year. My mom said I should only have to shave every other day, and again denied the truth when I told her that wasn't enough. Once I started shaving my legs, I noticed the hair everywhere else: my back, my chest, my face, all over.

I googled my symptoms over and over, scouring the internet for a documented experience of any other woman who was like me. I questioned my gender identity over the years. I had wondered if it was possible for me to be intersex, but I had a very limited view of what that could mean, and I assumed if I was, it would be very physically, externally, obvious. At that time, I didn't think it was possible for my doctors, my parents, and everyone else in my life to miss something so important.

For about a year, I identified as non-binary and used they/them pronouns. I think that part of this came from a place of being young and exploring my identity, but it also came from deep insecurity. I didn't feel like being a girl was an option for me because of the way I looked, so I thought it would ease my pain to pretend I wasn't a girl. I want to make it abundantly clear that I am in no way saying questioning one's gender identity is only about being insecure. That was my personal experience, and I am in the minority. I am the exception to the vast majority of experiences.

I bought plain, solid-color, clothes 3 sizes too big and wore pants and long sleeves all summer to swallow me up. I always wore my hair down and I always had bangs to cover as much of my face as possible. I wanted to make it impossible to see my face at all, and, between bangs, glasses, makeup, and a mask, I was fairly close.

By the time I was 12, I had developed a four-hour daily routine for removing all my hair. After a year of seeing my therapist, I finally broke down and told her about my hirsutism via pen and paper and through tears. I was so, so ashamed that I couldn't even say the word "hair" out loud. She immediately told me I might have PCOS, something I had never heard of, and it turns out she was right.

It was only recently, six years after my PCOS diagnosis, that I found out there was any discussion at all about PCOS being considered an intersex condition. I am ashamed to say my first reaction was one of more fear and insecurity. I have been chasing womanhood all my life, and this felt like yet another barrier to it. Even if I didn't identify as intersex after reading about this, it's taught me I have quite a bit of unlearning to work on.

I am in no way qualified to declare PCOS to be an intersex condition, and I am not telling other people with PCOS that they have to be intersex, but I now identify as intersex. I love that PCOS awareness is a trending hastag on tiktok, but there is still so much more research that needs to be done, especially into this particular area. I read peer-reviewed journals from scientists and blog posts about individuals' real experiences and I found a term that feels like home for me, that fell in line with the way I had always felt about myself. I will still use she/her pronouns, because they also feel right for me.

When I experience things like this, I don't know what else to do but write about them. I hope we learn more about this, and I hope I can talk to someone who has also had this experience. Thank you.

Hai as a decently new utapri fan I wanted to ask your opinion on how new fans should get into utapri after finishing the anime. Should they play through the otomes games or maybe try listening to the Masterpiece shows instead?

Since the Masterpiece shows are all alternate universes/acting, it doesn't technically matter? So the real question is, do you like the idol side or the romance side more? Idol side, go for the masterpiece shows. Romance go for the games. And honestly switch around as you please. Just get to SOME game knowledge at some point because that's where you really learn about the boys after all. Personally it's best to know at least a little from everything.

Also the next most important thing will be whether you know Japanese or not. Because currently the anime, movies, and Starish special are the only things available in English. So what you can enjoy is more limited. Shining Live was in English for it's lifespan, and has some archives out there. Live Emotion we can only hope will have an English version but we do not know currently.

Now my answer to assist gets real long so gonna put it under a cut for everyone's sanity.

If you know Japanese, absolutely go enjoy the otome games, all of which have updated ports on the Switch! The release order and thus suggested order would be Repeat, Amazing Aria and Sweet Serenade, Debut, All Star, and finally All Star After Secret. And one day we'll have Dolce Vita.

If you want Quartet Night, while you meet them in Debut, their routes start with All Star. Ringo and Ryuuya have routes in Sweet Serenade and All Star if you're looking for them. Mitsuo in Amazing Aria is well....you'll see.

If you don't know Japanese, I still suggest looking into the games, but your options are more limited. ShiningWonderland has a fantastic crew pushing out translations. They're working on Repeat for Starish and All Star for QN currently. Couple of the routes are finished for at least one ending and others seem to be nearing completion. But I can't speak for that team past that. They are all wonderful people though!

If you don't mind getting a shortened, not amazing experience. There are some old summaries floating around from Breadmasterlee. Those, plus some friends who could understand enough, were how I learned parts of the games back in the day. Not the preferred experience though.

You could also technically struggle your way through with like Google Lens translation? Definitely not recommended though.

As for the masterpiece shows, again if you know Japanese, just enjoy them. If you wanna know what order they released in, the sets were as follows: Masquerade Mirage, Tenka Muteki no Shinobimichi, and Joker Trap Bloody Shadows, Pirates of the Frontier, Every Buddy!, and Polaris Lost Alice, Trios, and The Forest of Lycoris Dreaming of OZ, Never Again Neverland, and Faust Last Cantata

I know that next to last set, the Shining Masterpiece Shows, have translations by Kanasmusings. You can also find translations for some other dramas there, and subtitles for a majority of the stage plays (you will need your own file or DVD/BD).

The most recent Dramatic Masterpiece Shows seem to be works in progress at the moment. I know utapri-translations-uuuu is working on Heavens! And the CDs can be found in my masterlist.

The older ones I don't know off the top of my head if translations exist at all.

There are also Discord servers amongst the community, some public and some private, with resources and amazing people. But I'm not sure on how appropriate it would be to post the public ones. They don't allow piracy so as much as I push buying legally, uh, understandably linking from my blog publicly feels wrong. You can very likely find said discords via the Twitter fandom. Or talk to me in DMs.

I created Rain Must Fall as my attempt at the Super Sim & 100% completion challenge - that is, to complete EVERYTHING this game has to offer.

In doing so, I started a couple other saves (Project Pisces & DovahSims) because I didn't think those achievements could be completed in my main save (or they would be a pain to do lol) There's also loads of challenges and scenarios I want to complete, and short stories I want to write.

Originally, I was posting on my WordPress of the same name. No one read my stuff but that was fine - I was posting it as an archive for myself. However, WordPress has a media limit (unless you pay to upgrade) and I found myself quickly maxing it out. I wasn't sure where else to go, so I came to tumblr! Hello, would it be OK to ask who the translator of the Silvina Ocampo poem about brothers you recently shared was? I found a translation by a Jason Weiss via JSTOR but it was different and (imo) less affecting than the one you shared.

that's odd, i'm pretty sure that translation was by Jason Weirss. i don't remember where i first got it from, as i actually read Silvina Ocampo either in the original spanish or in portuguese and only found an english translation so more people here would understand. that was a few years ago back in my old blog, so i've since forgotten the exact source. but googling it led me here. not sure why there would be different translations by the same person, though perhaps the website is misattributing the translator?

Ten years ago, Arkhelios' "quiet" town was thrown into chaos when one of their beloved founders, Abraham Helios, was found murdered in the park one late night. With no real leads, and no laws as safety nets in place, the case went cold and the town hasn't been the same since. Salem Bellamy stepped up to take over in Abraham's wake, but the peace that followed is strained at best. With new complications on the rise, and the older generation fighting to establish a social hierarchy, the younger generation of residents struggle to find their place, and move on from their traumatic childhoods. But can one really move on, when what's dead and buried doesn't stay that way?

did you read the CNBC article "Egg prices rose 60% in 2022. One farm griup claims it's a 'collusive scheme' by suppliers"? Given how knowledgeable you are about your own birds, I'm interested to hear your thoughts! I particularly found it weird in the inflation numbers comparison where eggs went up by 59.9% in December while the "poultry" category only went up by 12.2%. Doesn't that seem counter-intuitive since it takes much longer to raise meat vs eggs even with the flu? I'm not trying to grill you at all I just like your blog and would like to see your thoughts on it :)

I have no idea why you think eggs take a shorter time, but meat birds are ready for butcher at 6-8 weeks old, and egg birds are a minimum of like 4 months, if not 6-10 depending on breed.

Don't listen to people (general) on farm groups. I'm in several, and day in and day out I see some real hot takes on stuff and a lot of people who either don't know what they're doing or are doing stuff that's like, actively harmful. The people that know what they're talking about burn out trying to argue with the people that are Very Convinced that they're right as they say the most wrong things. I'm locked in combat to the death in one group over the people there using the phrase "fertile but not fertilized" to describe an infertile/unfertilized egg. There's literally no such thing as "fertile but unfertilized." An egg is infertile or fertile, or it's unfertilized or fertilized. But by golly you cannot convince them this is the case, even directing them to google to check for themselves. I've seen med recs for overdoses and underdoses. I had one lady tell me she poured some injectable meds under her bird's wing, and flat out refuse to give more via injection or buy the pour-on version because didn't "want to overdose him." MA'AM you didn't DOSE him!!! What you did was the equivalent of pouring cough syrup on your hand. I chased my own tail for WEEKS with a lady that INSISTED 12 accidental fires in a single year, across all the farms in the US (you know, the 2.5 million farms in the US), meant that there was a government conspiracy to cause a food shortage, and that's why she kept chickens. You might be able to find A Person on those groups that knows anything correct, but the groups at large are often not great for anything other than sharing cute pics and finding homes for excess birds.

Now don't get me wrong, if a company CAN charge a little more for something and get away with it, they're probably gonna try, and I'm sure that some of that is involved, in some places more heavily than others. But also we lost almost 58 MILLION chickens, a lot of them egg layers, to HPAI last year, from around march to june (like, for reference, the US has about 300 million egg-type production birds, across ages). There's also a higher cost in fuel, and likely an unwillingness to hire people who have standards about how they're treated factoring in. Given the processing/shipping/distribution time and the requirements (including the cost of materials, testing, cleaning, disposal etc) of sanitizing land and having to let it sit for a period before being able to resume production, that lag and then sept-dec 2022 zone was exactly where I expected the price rise to happen, and at least from what I've seen, it's already coming back down (from $6 to $4 around me anyway) as those lost facilities have reached laying ages. I expect it will keep going down, provided HPAI doesn't devastate the industry again this year.

Shit just happens sometimes, and instead of taking the hit to their profit, they took it out of egg prices because they had an excuse to raise them to cover costs and possibly make extra while people were tolerant. first question: so way back in tumblr olden days, lmao, before they changed the layout to where it didn't look like you were clicking on a blog; you'd actually go to someone's page and see their HTML theme, and people found a way to hide their posts in case others went directly to their page (ie. lurkers), and they didn't want them to see them all.

so say when i go to clawbehavior.tumblr.com - i can see everything you post, but with a code, i can hide posts from people who visit that url so ppl who aren't following me don't have to see the personal posts if i don't want them to. the posts that show up on my homepage are tagged with an x. (this does NOT work if you're on your dashboard, and you click someone's name now; all posts will show up).

tumblr kinda/sorta ruined it a bit. now you don't have to be following someone to click their page via the dash (on desktop or mobile) to be able to see every single posts - even those of mine that aren't tagged with x.

but still, if someone randomly wanders onto my page by typing it in or stumbling across a posts via google and then they click on my home theme, they can't see personal posts.

however, there is a way to see all posts aside from clicking on my blog through the dash and/or tags. the code used to direct you to NAME.tumblr.com/tagged/x, and you'd see that link in the search bar. now it doesn't do that anymore, and you just see NAME.tumblr.com, but!! the code still works. if you go directly to my link, you'll only see posts that are tagged x.

there's a special little something you add to the end of NAME.tumblr.com for someone directly on my page to be able to see all posts that aren't tagged with an x.

so long story short, posts not tagged with x cannot be seen by those who visit my page directly; they can still see them if they come across my blog while being a tumblr using desktop/mobile and clicking the name.

second question: i don't feel i use my tagging system as much as i used to. i used to be much more rigorous with it. i like using the name (theme) stuff to describe things, so 'funny stuff' or 'writing stuff' as a catch all for posts of that category. i also try to use tags that i'll remember now esp bc i haven't kept track of many old ones. so i also keep it simple with easy descriptors such as 'text,'

third question: hands down 'the devil judge' or 'the devil judge meta' lol. i'll remember i wrote/saved something, and i gotta go dig for it bc i know it's in one of the two. i don't often go back through tags unless i'm looking for something specific.

There's something called the IndieWeb, or WesternWeb, or SmallWeb, whatever you wanna call it, which is the concept of going outside from social media and focus on personal websites.

The Problem with Social Media

I just think it is too much. I never really was a fan of posting on platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and even things such as Mastodon and Pixelfed, and Tumblr I mostly like because it is the most "social-media-less" of the bunch. These platforms feel like you need to post something to other people, even if you don't care about it, there's a reason every one of these have some "like", "follow" and "trending" feature. And sometimes, I just want a space for myself and my hobbies y'know?

Using Tumblr has been great, but it still has that features and to be completely honest, its editor is kinda shit, and the conversion from Markdown to NPF (Neue Post Format, Tumblr's format) is not the greatest (Lately also, with some dramas I saw about moderation and the whole WordPress shenanigans, I don't really know the future).

However, I also know the usefulness of these platforms. Having an algorithm to recommend things is way convenient than trying to find things yourself, and can really make you know about a topic or art you would have never thought about looking into. And I would be hypocritical if I said that I didn't find people to talk with and make friendships. Also, platforms such as Mastodon and Pixelfed with their federation functionality, and BlueSky with its customizable feeds, are pushing into a more healthy and better social media experience personally.

Social media for me is the place if I want to consume in mass and show in mass what I do, since in its very nature, everything is about massive interactions and presence.

But never there was an actual place for me and my projects, until now.

The Web From Before

When I started having memories, around the year 12.010, the old internet was kinda dying. If you didn't know, before social media, people still interacted and posted things, in their own websites. There wasn't a central place you saw every single post or media, if you wanted to follow someone, you followed by seeing their websites on the regular, and interacted with them via e-mail, XMPP, Internet Relay Chat (IRC, which is what Twitch uses for its chats), and if the website was fancy, a direct inbox or comments section. Websites were found by just pure curiosity clicking on hyperlinks and jumping from site to site, or used a search engine (like Google, before it became shit) to find personal websites about a specific topic.

Even though I never actually lived this internet, I kinda want it back. Instead of a small solar system of big planets and center, I want a constellation of multiple solar systems and starts.

The Web From Before Today

And I can! These personal websites and ways of interacting with the internet still exist, just in smaller communities. Communities such as Neocities, the IndieWeb group (which is actually creating web-standards to improve this side of the internet), and even Tumblr can be somewhat considered, with its *.tumblr.com pages. There are still ways of creating your simple website and talking with people from others without the use of social media.

No likes, follows, recommendations if you don't want to. No big moderation team. No advertisement. No corporation controlling the content you put out there.

I want to try it, I want to learn about it more.

Since, being totally honest, I'm kinda hypocritical of all of this. Because even though I know about this side of the internet existing for a good while now, I haven't really put the effort into going there more often. Mostly because I think it stills too inconvenient.

The Web For the future

So I kinda want to try to improve it, not because I'm special or know better, but because I like to create tools for myself and know damn well that if this shit is inconvenient for someone tech-savy like me, it is even more for people who don't are.

I like this side of the internet, and want to make it more accessible and maybe find a good middle ground between social media and personal websites.

Because it can be fun to try something else.

Planing #4 - The black P .. err ... Sea

Since the beginning I wanted to cross the black Sea by using an Ferry. It is just convenient compared to bus journeys with 6 stops. Or trains with no beds. Not to speak of the fact that once you arrived on the ferry everything is just running: You move. You get food. You have a bed. All things that you would need attention otherwise.

No 'if my room booked' or 'does the bus come?' 'am I to late' and other worries. Just check in and leave your worries outside.

I mean. I would not expect and luxury cruise like most would if they think about a ferry. But it still sounds amazing, or not? Bonus is, that you can walk around! And it's still traveling. Like having 2 days 'off'. With some luck you could even watch dolphins!

The Options

From Varna has a big Harbor and of course we could expect that a Ship will travel from there to Georgia. The NavBul offer(ed) this kind of service for decades!

On Burgas, an smal city on the coastline, you also can find a big Harbor with an other company that offers a ride :)

Last but not least. If everything breaks you could travel over Turkey via bus or train. Thanks e-visa and other options this should always be an nice solution.

The price for all options is almost equal at 200€ (with 100€ for hotels). On the time-side it will take 2-3 days to cross the Sea. Taking the Bus or Train wont take much more. In fact, it could be faster. Depends how much time you want to spend on the road.

Each ferry company has the same biz: Bring (mostly truckers and trucks) over the Sea. They all try to look like multi million dollar companies to the outside. But an short look to the actual place where you could hop onto the ship will open your eyes:

They dont ship from the Habor. Oh now. They have a small beton-block far outside of Varna. You cannot reach that point with anything but a taxi. It is really in the middle of nowhere. Its basically a gigant field of old road with a smal house in front of it. Good luck!

But they do have a shedule, dont they? YES they had. But they were not matching the times. Last time I had a look on them, the ship was about 10 day's late. They don't tell you about that - but the international Navigation Satelite map for fessels told me. Imagine, arriving there and nobody is there. Nobody tells you anything. You are just lost.

Never got an reply to any email to them. You could call an Bulgarian cellphone number. Good luck with reaching someone on that!

pbm Black Sea Ferry Services

So basically there is only one last company that offers shipping of private people over the black Sea. Only one. That is so crazy if you keep in mind how big the black Sea is.

PBM has a fixed schedule over the black Sea (each weekend from Burgas to Batumi) and an email adress where you actually can reach someone.

The office is not on the end of the world, but the company is not registered on any bigger selling platform. You want to 'book'? Then write an E-Mail. If you do that, they will reply that you should write again one week before the ship is moving. If you do THAT, they literally just write an Postit with your name one it.

Next step is to go to their office, on the day of departure before 6pm, and pay for the ticket. No cards. Cash. Euros are perfect. If you miss 6pm the reservation is void and you must hope that you still can hop on Board.

Even thought that the ship should leave on Fr Evening - They are ready when they are ready. I heard thats never before 10pm or 11pm. Sometimes even on the next day. Be prepared!

Otherwise. It seems to be okay there. The tickets start with 200€. All cabins are for four people. If you want to be alone PAY for it. They sell Wifi Access on the Burgas Office, but I wont bet, that it really works.

Some fan accounts simply disappeared after I would go through blocking anons

Yes, you are able to track the IP addresses of anon asks in order to work out where they came from, you dont even need to be a tech expert to do it, you can get the username of the account that sent it to you from this as well, it's quite a simple process

Nothing on the internet is truly anonymous with the capture programs they run (re the Snowdon debacle, but also Google tracks your entire life)

E.g if you send DeuxMoi a message via her submission form but click on the link in bio to do it, the profile you are logged into can be traced back so it's not really anonymous, same with anytime you click on one in any profile

I had it done with a lot of my very old abusive anons that were sending me stuff about "knowing where I lived" "we fooled you with the Mona Lisa" etc with some.......interesting results.......there's a reason I'm no longer hanging out with them and trust very few of the "main fan accounts".......

I used to with the abusive anons, nowadays I don't bother I just block them, but since a bunch of "fan accounts" recently blocked me, I haven't had any abusive anons at all ever since........

Since getting hacked and the extensive abuse I've had these last few years, I do at the very least use a VPN at all times these days

I have to admit, I've even found a few things on my blog that I did not post myself....and had a few other login notifications from other IP addresses that were not mine prior to getting a VPN

Background

The story of this setting is simple, but I wanted to include it anyways, since the goal of this blog is to preserve the knowledge and journey.

Originally, around the 2010s, I found a fantasy RP forum containing a very loose version of this sandbox setting on a Proboards site--back when those were popular. I made many friends and wrote on that site for quite a few years, and during that time I pushed for a bit more development on details concerning cultures and locations. There was a lot of wish fulfillment NSFW content on that website, given that people enjoyed shipping their characters with others', but over time there was quite a bit of lore painted by the background details of various location and event details. While I understood that there was a desire to leave things vague enough that anyone could play nearly any sort of fantasy character in this setting (outside of attempting to "godmod" or railroad others), I felt that we could have tiny pockets of groups, neighborhoods, people and cultures with defined information if we were careful.

The website's name at the time was Era of Manipulation, and was later changed to "Libertine Age". Not many people liked or enjoyed that name, and eventually it was changed back. Have a look at one of the website logos (made by me long long ago):

Without turning this into an epic, the conclusion is that Proboards unexpectedly changed its ToS to explicitly prohibit written NSFW content, which led to us seeking out a new RP home to try and retain membership and activity, as well as our character and background information, which was very important to those of us who grew attached. That's pretty typical. We did end up finding a new home for our stuff, and even managed to move many of our characters and old threads--but by then the spark was gone for many people, and the move didn't take root. A few of us remained in contact, but the idea of a new routine on a new website and having to socialize in a large place was overwhelming and difficult to adjust to.

There were still many of us who wanted to continue writing the lives and dramas of our characters, and the result of this desire was a large Google Docs archive. We would simply format our docs in a similar way to old school forums and go back and forth. As time went on, and our lives changed and we grew, and our group became even smaller, we would plan and plot out events via DMs, and flesh out very important events to chronicle them in full prose; there are quite a few DM'd conversations archived as well.

So, there's a lot that's lost due to moving place to place online, quite a lot archived thanks to Google Docs, and still a tiny group of people who are passionate about characters they have in this setting, even though there isn't as much time to write the way we did when we were young and horny college students. We're just horny adults now, haha. So I wanted to preserve my piece of things in a corner where I can look back on it and remember the major turning points.

GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a sandbox set in a divergent future where unseen realms (known as "Realms beyond the Veil") by some catastrophic accident collide with our own. Though the contact was not for long, the result of this event was the outpouring of various magical energies, creatures, and perhaps more mysterious forces out of those planes to be stranded in our own. This has prompted hidden, assimilated beings native to our plane to come forward to combat otherworldly threats and try to wrangle the chaos into peace. Humanity was forced to acknowledge the existence of magic and other ethereal powers as fact, in a context outside of rumor and imaginative mythologies. In an attempt to subjugate foreign powers wreaking havoc on Human societies, slavery was re-established as a system of penance for destructive or dangerous non-Humans from other worlds. With magic saturating the earth, technology rocketed forward in an attempt to maintain mankind's authority on their planet and its new citizens and functions.

Our setting exists in this world a little more than a century after the above event. Humans and non-Humans have adjusted to one another. While the slave market is still primarily comprised of otherworldly creatures, there are just as many non-Humans in a position of power. Greed permeates all races/sentient species, and despite stating that their "goal" was to ensure that the Human race remain "pure", money and valuables can buy nearly everything. Technology has developed more quickly with the introduction of magic, and society is an echo of what it used to be - both similar and different. Things have settled down from the danger and chaos of The Event, and the caste system while loosely defined, is now firmly in place.

As this is a sandbox there is no overall story premise, simply characters interacting in a City on the Eastern coast of the United States, though many other locations are featured!

OUR EARTH, JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT

The year was 2014. The world-at-large for planet Earth was considered to be quite small: Humans held dominion over the land and those who showcased abilities or talents were shunned, called freaks, ostracized and forced into hidden communities. Lore concerning magic and super-human abilities were relegated to the status of exaggerated legends, children's fancies or lies told by the mad.

This was, allegedly, not always the case. There were Others, of course, creatures and beings and at times, small populations operating in their own circles, passing information about other realms and otherworldly feats from generation to generation from times forgotten when the Earth and its inhabitants were once different. For these people, touched by magic, their abilities were both curse-and-blessing: their abilities were great, but could not often be used or displayed. Glamours were all too common, assimilation necessary to ensure survival. No group revealed in totality to Humans persisted for long, with few exceptions.

It was in fact rumored that the Earth had been protected by the magic of a God; some grandiloquent spell cast eons before, preventing anything other than Humans to flourish. This was a wide and far-reaching belief, as it was well known that Non-Humans didn't reproduce or thrive in similar numbers. Be it through ill-fated luck or deliberate intent, open settlements of the supernatural were overrun or became isolated. And so those peoples remained silent; practitioners and stewards alike over nature and the magic were reduced to sneaking from the shadows to complete their works. Remaining hidden became engraved into various cultures as they hid in plain sight. It seemed that even the very powers that watched over them kept their deepest secrets hidden from a world that would not accept them without much bloodshed and strife, as it remained this way for millennia.

The Earth was primitive without its Otherworldly connections, and Humans suffered in spite of their large numbers. The planet could not replenish resources quickly enough, could not rid itself of disease and illness effectively. Soothing energy only pooled in specific places; the reach of magic was limited and restricted in effectiveness.

That was the status quo - being unaware of their full potential, and of the planes around them, Humans existed blissfully ignorant.

THE GREAT REVEAL

As for how the disaster occurred: A lone Human psychic, her name never recorded, allegedly foresaw the possibility of the Event. She came from a mixed bloodline, with very particular affinities. It was not a matter of power or purity of pedigree - her magic was linked to probability; magic attuned to states of reality was rare occurrence, and stealing it for personal gain was likely motivation (though no one has been able to prove it). It is thought that she was used as a conduit by other scholars of magic, made into an anchor to trigger the uncertain into certainty. Whatever their goal, the task proved too much for them to handle.

They could not control her magic.

If there was a Shield preventing contact with other Realms, it must have shattered or been banished; others still believe a mass of portals might have been manifested instead. The common consensus, however, is that for a brief moment, all of the planes became *merged*. Regardless of what is attributed to be occurrence, the Earth and its inhabitants came into contact with planes layered both above and below, flooded with myriad magical energies, as well as countless creatures both similar and grossly different from those in hiding.

A suddenly over-saturated Earth erupted in chaos. Though many historians emphasize the havoc wreaked by violent, mindless, or ignorant creatures that disrupted every day life, there were other changes, too. Magic changed its topography, changed the flora and fauna, changed any living being it came across, brought new life from other places we have never known with strange properties and effects. Many Humans fell ill, adjusting to new energy swimming through their veins; a handful were transformed almost overnight into living beings thought only figments of imagination.

Initially, there were attempts made to try to replicate the phenomenon to return the visitors and reverse the process. These proved unsuccessful, and these plans were soon abandoned. there were more pressing matters that required attention; with new animals and creatures came problems and dangers that needed to be handled. Many died in attacks or invasions. Some new inhabitants hid on islands and landmasses not yet mapped. Others could disguise themselves undetectably. Areas of the world became unstable and unsafe in a matter of days. It's these times that granted the reveal the alternate nickname of "The Calamity".

IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH

Emerging from their hiding places were those of magical origin born on earth, before the tearing of the Veil. There was little time to debate the validity of these offers for help, and Humans took the hands (or paws, or claws, or talons) of those granting assistance. The leagues of "monsters" now a part of the world were cataloged as best as possible. They worked with Humans to maintain control, to heal injured, sick and ailing. They also helped to capture anything new and unfamiliar for study, parlay (when possible) and when necessary, neutralization. Several diplomats rose to sort things out, to exchange customs and impart information, but few agreement came without a price. Lives of many kinds were lost across conflicts.

The advent of new magics complicated things, despite fast advancements in tech; paper and metallic currency meant virtually nothing when some odd creature could replicate it easily.

But slowly and carefully, many were taught how to function with and allowed to integrate into various communities.

Social conventions struggled to adapt to accommodate new needs and features. Regardless of what was thought of Man, Creature or Beast, order needed to be established for the good or survival. Civilization, or some version of it, managed to cling to the changing planet.

The Great Reveal was not only unexpected, some would argue, but necessary. Others call it Justice or Retribution. A few, Destiny. There are those who argue that the planet would have died without the Event to revive it, that Humans were wasting it away.

And many people were not prepared to share a world with anyone else.

Humans were still considered inheritors of planet Earth by virtue, but it was a different world. They fell into old habits. Humans were better, by their own status, and always had been - how else could they adapt well to this sort of calamity? Those once deemed insane, eccentric, were now in demand - their information helped keep the new inhabitants at bay, kept them from sullying Human culture.

Humans were pure.

By force of law those who had been changed, and what creatures that could be subdued were denied their basic rights. Those who could not be were ignored until the proper tech to take them into custody was designed. They were second-class beings who were - at first - assigned legal guardians to take care of them. From that arrangement swiftly grew a caste system that turned the changed into a commodity. They became slaves, their guardians masters who held most if not all rights over their charges.

Despite the planet being theirs, however, Humans were quickly outnumbered. With the aid of magic, some creatures were indistinguishable, and others simply appeared Human on the surface. And that was not the only resistance: many of them had accumulated massive fortunes over time, and in their own home worlds. They put together a strong lobby that allowed them to influence legislation and public opinion, avoided becoming slaves and managed to become Masters themselves. Those Humans who held power and station were quick to turn on their brethren in exchange for more.

For a few decades chaos had reigned, but slowly things settled down.

Now the year is 2122 2037, and the caste system is firmly in place almost all over the world. Technology has advanced in leaps and bounds over the last century, but some conventions could still be recognizable to someone from before the change. Everyone who is someone is a Master, lording over a class of slaves - and the changed never had a chance to become 'someone'. Stuck in the middle are the Citizens, those who are neither; these are the people who still fill the majority of jobs, go through their lives working 9 to 5, many of them uneasy in a world where some flaunt owning others who so covet even their meager positions.
