eren jaeger doesn’t want to judge you but he does. he lectures on why they’re bad for you. he’s totally hypocritical though because you know that boy is clutching cool mint vape. when you point that out, he shuts up.

armin arlert is thrown off when you light one up. he asks when you started and how long you’ve been smoking for. he doesn’t like your vice, but he won’t stop you. he hopes that you’ll quit.

connie springer doesn’t smoke cigarettes, however, he thinks it makes you look extremely cool. he says it reminds him of a cool guy in a movie. not a big fan of the smell and is definitely the type to cough obnoxiously loud if you light one up next to him.

jean kirstein is sort of impressed with you, at first. he didn’t think you had it in you to smoke. jeans a habitual smoker too so often times you’d go out together to have one. eventually, he thinks that you should stop.

reiner braun HATES the fact that you’re a smoker. he hates the smell, the way it makes the air feel and he mostly hates how bad it is for you. he whines whenever you light one up. “seriously, right now?”

bertholdt hoover doesn’t really care. it’s your choice and it’s your body. plus, he’s smoked a few during his rebellious phase. also, totally smokes them when he drinks because drunk cigarettes don’t count.

marco bodt wishes you wouldn’t. he’s really supportive about it though. he knows it annoys you so he doesn’t tell you to quit, he just kinda looks at you and it says it all. he wishes jean would quit too.

sasha braus thinks they’re stinky. she doesn’t mind if you light one up around her, she just wants to stand a few feet away from you so the wind doesn’t blow the smoke towards her.

mikasa ackerman doesn’t really care either. she used to smoke them back when she was really angsty but she quit. she also doesn’t give a fuck if quit or not. also, would totally judge what type you smoke.

ymir’s a smoker. she thought it was cool when she was younger and then winded up getting addicted. she’s always got cigarettes on her and you two often wind up sharing each others. always has a lighter on her.

historia reiss despises smoking. there isn’t one thing she likes about it. she thinks you look like an idiot and she’s sure to let you know.

annie leonhardt often asks to bum one. she really doesn’t give a shit what you do. “smoke them or don’t.” she’s glad you always have one when she needs one though.

starting a new thing called "fic ideas I'll never write because the plot is too big/multi chapter fics aren't really my thing"

aka! speci-fic ideas! (see what I did there)

1) a jean x reader (shocker) but! b99 edition where jean is a detective and you were Sasha and Connies best friend in cllg and you just happen to be in the building where jean is finding witnesses to a crime. thats how you meet, he knocks on ur door and introduces himself with his badge (with eren being his partner - just imagine how poorly this goes) and jean basically is trying to flirt with you and also getting on eren's nerves. the rest is history (lie I have this very thought out and detailed)

2) another jean x reader fic but (gasp) it's in a multiple time-jump type way where it goes from present day of you being a pretty well known graphic designer and jean being in a BAND. (this is sort of inspired by the kdrama twinkling watermelon) and basically you two met in like the first year of college and jean (bassist) was already in a band with eren (lead singer womp womp), Mikasa (guitar), and Connie (drums) and till now had just been taking this as a hobby since the band formed in highschool right. marco is the photographer for them and Sasha's the makeup artist and then you join the picture being a graphic design student and basically are just. coerced into "joining" their team and it's really fun and you and jean get a lot closer but then the band gets like. their Golden Opportunity by being singed by this big record company and they drop out of college (end of second year) and basically, over time, lose touch with you and you meet them years later when they're kind of flopping, because their company dropped them and they are not ready to give up on music even if they're kinda. like they kind of dislike eachother. but then, just like the old days, Armin takes over as their unofficial manager and the Team is back on again. in my head it's like. friends to lovers EXTREMELY slow burn but after the time skip (aka present day) it's very angsty because jean essentially. forgot about you? or so you think. and he didn't contact you for so long, and because both of you are petty and he's pathetic, it's a lot of bickering and skirting around feelings before everything comes spilling out.

so yes!! that is it (for now). im never going to actually write these, but if youd want/like to know some headcanons I have about them, send me and ask :)

a lot of people seem to dislike how Historia is portrayed but I kind of like the idea, not so much Isayama's execution even if I do understand it is purposely flanderized.

Also any hcs on SC Kenuri (together and individually) ? I've been thinking soooo much about them

oh i like school castes hisu dearly, but i love twin peaks and all its imitators and so think the popular cheerleader archetype is anything but reductive, and her being paired with reiner at the top of the pyramid is just smart nod to the clash of titans arc: two blonds are not what they seem (severely masking gays). i adore eren and historia as a kindred NOT ROMANTIC bond via frieda, so her angsty internal monologue about him is an imperfect trade-off for her disappearing in these last volumes for Me. but school castes as a whole? i live for the CRUMBS of hitch and historia interactions, which i will enact in my dusty hiatus post-rumbling fic, on god, and i love gothkasa. but i don't think about SC that much, certainly because of the lack of old men, SO:

i love ur damn kenny-picking-up-historia-from-school art of COURSE!! janitor levi's underground reputation implies kenny is not far. in most modern AUs floating around in my head i have the reisses as "legit" capitalists or an overt crime family, and uri's happiness / kenuri's chances are inversely related to his proximity to them. so in school castes? i can see kenuri as essentially the way of the househusband if they both manage to get away from crime. oh my god. have a need to write a cowboy au ex partner x jean (aot) fic to “August” by flipturn- but my brain won’t let me figure out where to even start it.

August, honey, you were mine.

Besides the sound of you and jean’s nasty conversation, the wind outside rustles the trees with such violence, you wonder if this is mother nature telling you you’re making the wrong decision. It’s the last night of july, you’re both 20 years old, ready to begin another fall with each other in your small town. At least that’s what jean thought when you asked him to pick you up to “talk about something”.

That’s how you found yourself here, sitting on the back of his truck while you watch jean down another beer he stole from his uncles fridge. Jean just couldn’t believe what was coming out of your mouth.

“i can’t live here forever, jean. I need’ta go find myself somewhere that ain’t here. Y’know, with the same people and places I’ve know my whole damn life.” and that “Everything is great, I just need sommethin’ different. I dunno..” After some more back and forth, and maybe a couple more drinks that he had planned on downing that night, jean let you walk away from him. You had your mind set and there was nothing he was able to say or do to keep you here.

Flash forward to five years later, after little to almost no contact, you’re back in your hometown.

You’re about a year and half graduated from your city college and decently happy with the life you made…but you couldn’t help to miss your old life back at home.

You often wondered how everyone was.

How everything was.

You wondered about him. mostly.

Okay Blah blah blah more story stuff…flash forward jean’s 25 now. it’s the last night of july and he ends up seeing you at some bar your daddy’s friend owns. It was often a common occurrence to find yourself and your three bozo friends here as kids.

He’s laughing with connie and sasha about some drunk fuck a couple seats down who’s about to black out in the middle of the bar, until he hears what sounds like your voice.

Jean’s eyes scans the scene of the bar as fast as he can, and finally his eyes settle on your figure. Your face is scrunched up in annoyance and your body tense.

Jean is absolutely blown away at how much you’ve changed. You look like a totally new person. Apparently your attitude hasn’t changed much. Jean can tell that much by the way you’re absolutely ripping into what seems like the pretty city boy you brought home with you. “Is that your new boyfriend? He doesn’t even look like me, there’s no way. I should go over there and see what’s goin on-“ Jeans thoughts are interrupted when your figure begins making its way to the bar, where him, connie and sasha are seated.

Blah blah blah. You two end up talking after you realize the group was sitting at the bar. Turns out your new boy toy is some dude name Eren Yeager.

Jeans not so happy with the situation you described to the group about you and Eren, and ends up getting all five of you thrown out of the bar after he “accidentally” let his fist slip into Eren’s face.

You two end up rekindling your past flame throughout the month of august (cue in the song), trying your best to hide it from everyone, as Eren is still holding himself in your heart.

I mean, you two aren’t doing anything wrong. Just rebuilding a friendship you lost.

“Where are you going?” You questioned as you watched your boyfriend get ready to go out. He was dressing a bit nicer than he normally did so you assumed it was a party or something. You just didn’t know why he didn’t ask or tell you about it.

“It’s an assembly thing.”

“Vampires only?” You giggled, joking a bit because there was no such thing as a “vampire only” party, right?

“Um… yeah, basically.”

“Are you bullshitin me, Yeager?” You walked up behind him and wrapped your arms around his torso. He took your arms from around his waist and turned to look at you.

“I’m not.” He kissed your cheek before grabbing his coat from the bedpost.

“Can I go?” His body froze. The whole reason he tried to sneak this event past you is because he didn’t want you to ask about going. He knew how dangerous those parties could be and he’ll be damned if you got caught up in the midst of that.

“No.” He said in a stern tone that warned you.

“Why not? I could keep you company~” You tried smiling but it was having no effect on him.

“It’s not a place for you, Y/n—“

“But I don’t wanna be in here by myself.” You pouted and your cat, Milo, came and rubbed himself on your leg.

“See? Milo says he’ll keep you company.” You rolled your eyes. You didn’t know why you wanted to go to the party so bad, you just didn’t wanna leave Eren’s side now that you knew some things that you didn’t know in the past 48 hours.

“Let me go with you, please? I promise I won’t do anything stupid.” You practically begged as you put your puppy eyes on him. Eren knew he couldn’t resist you even if he wanted, especially when you were being all cute right now.

He glossed over his teeth with his tongue and glanced away from you before looking at you again. Eren really hoped he wasn’t making a mistake.

“Fine,” A bright smile appeared across your face. “Just really don’t do no stupid shit, okay? You slip up, you die. And neither of us can afford that, got it?” He didn’t mean to get so harsh with you but he just really didn’t want anything to happen to you all because you didn’t take it as seriously as you needed to. It’d be his fault if you got hurt or anything and he knew he couldn’t live with that or without you.

The excitement subsided inside you and was replaced with a bit of fear. Whenever Eren got serious with you, there was no room for jokes so this vampire assembly party thing must’ve been mighty important.

“What should I wear?” You asked your boyfriend timidly. Your softened tone made him feel bad for being so hard with you.

“Anything you want.” You rushed upstairs to your wardrobe to find something to wear

When the both of you arrived to the event, it looked like a regular party. People were drinking, smoking, there was music, and some were even playing games. So you didn’t see why Eren made such a big deal about you coming with him.

“I thought you said this was ‘vampire’s only?’” You raised a brow.

“It is. Look at everyone.” You looked closer at the people who occupied the space. They all had weirdly colored eyes, pale skin, and prominent red veins that scaled their bodies, just like you saw Eren that day. But when you looked at him, he looked as normal as you did and you wondered if you were the only human in there.

Eren examined your fresh face of fear and laughed a bit to ease your nerves. “It’s okay, Y/n. They won’t touch you if I’m here.” His large hand squeezed yours reassuringly.

“Eren!” Connie came up to dap Eren up with you between them. You recognized Connie from elsewhere but you didn’t know he was one too. “I see you made it.. and you brought Y/n! Hey, Y/n—“ He was coming in for a hug until Eren stretched out his hand in from of you to stop him.

All Eren did was shake his head and Connie backed off, but still had a warm smile towards you. Not like you really felt safe getting a hug from anyone in the room anyways…

“Want something to drink?” Eren offered and you nodded. The both of you headed to the basement part of the building where there was a couple coolers on the concrete. The party downstairs was almost as jumping as the one upstairs, just less people to do more things in the presence of no one but themselves.

“Water?” He handed you a bottle of ice cold water while he held one for himself. He lead you to sit down on the couch.

“Why didn’t you want me to come? Doesn’t look like much is going on outside of a regular college party or something.” You went ahead and popped the question to him.

“It may seem calm now, but eventually something almost always pops off and someone gets hurt,” He looked around before leaning into your ear. “And if they figure out you’re the only human here, it can get ugly.” You gulped at his sentence. Although it was scary to think about, this was your reality right now.

“I probably shouldn’t have came..” He didn’t wanna make you feel bad for wanting to be with him.

“No, it’s okay. You can sit and watch people do dumb shit like that guy over there, see?” He pointed to somebody in the corner of the room sniffing cocaine out of a random girl’s navel. While Eren laughed his ass off, you sat disgusted.

“Hey, Rennn~” Sasha stumbled over to the two of you and it was clear that she was drunk or had something else in her system.

“Hey, Sash… you alright?” He tried holding back a laugh and you pinched him.

“I’m good, it’s just..” Sasha came and plopped herself down next to Eren, smelling of weed and booze. “you smell something funny?” He looked over at you and then back to Sasha. You prayed to god that girl was only smelling her own stench and not the stench of your conspicuous strawberry shortcake spray. If you knew that you smelled delicious, they’d figure that out too.

“Anyways, Y/n come dance with me!” Sasha grabbed your arm and pulled you up out your spot. Eren took off his jacket and gave it to you before he watched you migrate to the dance floor with Sasha. While you were thinking that he was giving you his jacket to cover up your arms in case you were cold or something, he was giving up his jacket to throw off the scent if you were going to be dancing around everyone. Giving you his jacket made him feel a lot better about you being there and safe.

“I love you!” Eren called after you as you were being dragged away.

While you were dancing with Sasha, one of the few people at the party that be trusted with you, he went upstairs to talk to the rest of his friends in the kitchen around the island.

“You actually don’t look like a hobo today,” Jean commented as he took another swig of beer from his bottle. “Good job.” Eren glared at Jean.

“And you still look like a—“

“Can y’all cut it out? Yall been having the same insults towards each other for the past ten years. Aren’t yall pushin thirty?” What Mikasa said made Connie snicker a bit, receiving a hard shove from Jean.

“It’s called having fun, baby. See, you’d know that if your head wasn’t stuck so far up your ass all the time.” Jean clapped back.

“Damn.” Everyone else said in unison. But they knew that Jean and Mikasa were married so they were allowed to joke with each other like that. Their relationship was simple. Eren couldn’t exactly say the same about yours.

“Anyways, Eren where did Y/n go?” Connie looked all around the room.

“Dancing with Sasha downstairs. Where’s yours?”

“Oh, mine? She at home.” He looked proud to say that.

“She didn’t wanna come out?”

Connie shook his head. “Nah, she said we be doin too much in here but it’s pretty calm right now.” All of them could collectively agree but they knew that there was a possibility they were speaking too soon. “Anyways, do yall smell something weird? Like I’ve been smelling it but I didn’t know if it was me or not.”

They know. Eren thought to himself and prayed to God the conversation went somewhere else.

“Y’know what? me too. It smells really good though—“

“Nah, whatever it is smells like shit..”

“Smells like human.” Eren froze and internally panicked as his eyes scanned the room for you and Sasha until realizing that you might’ve been downstairs still. He excused himself and left his friends to look for your downstairs. He began to visibly panic when he couldn’t find you but he found Sasha knocked out on the floor next to the couch. He tapped Sasha but she was knocked out cold so he couldn’t ask her where you were.

“Fuck…” Eren nearly lost his mind as he rushed through the building looking for you. He could feel his blood rising to the surface of his skin and painting his veins as he began to think about someone hurting you.

“Whoa, Eren,” He nearly ran slam into Reiner before hands gripped his forearms tightly. “You alright?”

“Get the fuck out my way Reiner—“ Eren tried to go around the burly figure that stood in his way but he was stopped.

“What’s goin on? Can I help?” He took a deep breath so he wouldn’t snap at Reiner for trying to help him out.

“I-I’m looking for a girl with a black dress. She’s got long braids done up in a high ponytail and she’s wearing a necklace with a red gem on it.” The necklace was a gift from Eren a few months into your relationship. He told you that the gem that sat within the silver necklace represented the love he’d always have for you and the bond that tied you two together forever. You thought it was kinda weird at first because of how early it was but he knew he’d love you from the moment he saw you.

“Oh! I just saw a girl with really long braids come past here with a weird necklace,” He pointed. “but she was with some guy—“ That’s all Eren really needed to hear.

“Thanks, Reiner.” He wasn’t even sure if the girl that Reiner was talking about was you but he wasn’t taking any chances. He followed where Reiner thought you went and his adrenaline took him outside where the pool was. He saw you sitting by the pool talking to some weird redhead guy who he recognized as Floch. If he wasn’t infuriated before, he was definitely infuriated now.

People around watched as Eren aggressively grabbed Floch by the collar of his shirt.

“Eren! What the fuck are you doing?” You screamed as you saw your boyfriend attack this seemingly innocent boy in front of you. But when you looked closer, you saw a slight smirk on his face that left you confused.

The smirk on Floch’s face warranted the hard punch Eren sent to his nose.

“Eren!” You got up and tried to pry your boyfriend’s fists off Floch’s face by yourself but you were soon helped by a few of his friends as bystanders stood idly by the pool. All Eren could see was red as he blew his hands into Floch’s face. He didn’t even care about what he didn’t know, he knew the type of person Floch was.

Once five people were able to get Eren off of Floch, the smirk stayed on his bloody and disfigured face. While Eren was trying to calm down, you were slowly but surely losing the energy that possessed your being. With every blink of your eyes, your heart was beating slower and slower. One of the only things you could definitely feel was the strong and stinging pain on the side of your neck. You grazed your fingers across it and they became almost doused in blood. At first people really didn’t pay you any mind but now all eyes were on you and noses were stuck up in the air as you were looked at with hungry eyes.

Mikasa noticed how weak you were and came over to you with one arm covering her nose so she wouldn’t hurt you.

“Mi..Mikasa..” You could barely finish her name or see her face as your vision became blurry and fuzzy.

“What did you do to her?” Eren’s voiced made an impact that silenced the area but it was cold.

“Well,” Floch tried to pull himself to his feet as he wiped blood from his nose. “I had a little snack, that’s all.” He laughed. He laughed and this made Eren wanna lunge at the boy again but he was stopped. Even though his friends held him back with one arm as they tried to resist the scent of your blood, they were just as strong.

The other vampires in the area inched closer and closer to you as they realized your smell, but Mikasa held them back as long as she could, your body laying limp in her arms.

Floch lost consciousness at the same time, which gave Connie, Jean, Armin, and Jean time to let Eren go. As soon as he was let go, he made his way over to you.

“Y/n..” He pulled you from Mikasa’s lap and into his own, trying to tap your face but you were unresponsive. He held his hand against your cheek softly, not even paying attention to the fact that his hands were covered in not only Floch’s blood, but your own blood as well. Your soft plump skin felt cool against his hands. “Talk to me, baby. Please.”

“She’s losing blood, Eren. Fast.”

eren didn't know if this was a great idea or not. he's sure it's okay, but there's a part of his brain, like a whispering enchantment at a witch's spell book, it makes him so delirious- enough to bring him crazy.

a buzzing can be heard in his head, like of those bees swarming the honeycomb. eren could feel- he could feel the tension in his pulse, in his veins. this is unfortunate, he thinks.

yep, it was unfortunate. he lost his grasp again, on you, he lost his opportunity. because of his own stupidity.

or for some selfish reason.

it keeps replaying in his head- like a memory that was tucked away in a jar that's now shattered. he still could recall, of what he perceived. your orbs, filled with something that made him want to re-arrange his guts again. something because of him.

he should've known that your heart would've shattered on the ground already. he thought you were already okay, as if everything was fine between the two of you.

the said yeager will admit that he wasn't on his tallest tiptoes ever since you left, no. he wasn't at alright at all. he's felt empty, freaking hollow than his heart already felt. he couldn't sleep at night, eren wasn't used to not receiving your warmth.

you were so different from everyone his met, he felt like he saw the brightest star in the solar system whenever he was with you.

the you- who in no denial was an artist and he was the drawing. you drew him, he felt like himself more when he was with you. eren admits that...you were majestic, if he could be the artist, there would've been so many murals of you already.

but no, that wasn't his role. you were the artist, the one who'll sketch along with the lines and curves of his body, the one who'll fill his nights with colors he never knew.

you painted him so vividly.

eren couldn't explain why- how you do it. so freaking bright, imaginative and colorful. why the heck did you have to be the sun and he was the moon?

you sketched, drew more beautifully than everyone else. call it being biased but everyone has their opinions.

he was just a black and white portrait before, so blank and unhappy. not until you came and colored his world. from different shades of the brightest colors to the darkest.

you turned him into a kaleidoscope. a sky full of many different colors.

you were so freaking beautiful.

if he could emphasize, you would be the mona lisa painting he'd paint. eren was willing to be leonardo da vinci to paint your beauty- and show it to the whole world.

sighing and carding his brown tussled hair, eren went out to chase you. it wasn't good either. it was freaking raining. he couldn't afford getting you sick, it'll only add more to the guilt he's carrying.

"it's raining too hard." but he doesn't care, as long as you don't get sick then that's okay. feet hitting the pavement can be heard as he ran through the halls, hoping to not disturb the people doing their own personal thing.

the thuds residing through the wall was a bit too loud but he was close. so close to you again.

from afar he could see you, yet as he neared eren could sense the fact you knew he was here so you ran again.

"[name]! [name]! wait, you're going to get sick!" eren desperately called out as he tried to stretch his hand out to stop you from the rain, only to be deemed futile as you were far away again.

it dawned upon him- that he really did miss you. eren loves you so dearly, to the point he'd be chasing you in the rain.

otherwise, if you were just another person to him, he wouldn't have chased you like this. eren would've only be grumbling in the hotel room, saying you were a nuisance if he really didn't care. that's what he did to his previous exes.

yet here he is, chasing you as if his life depended on it.

who would've thought that he'd chase you? under rain? no one. not even you.

a shout stopped you in your tracks, tears sliding down your cheeks along with the rain as built up frustration and hurt crawled back in just like how it was the day your broke up.

your throat felt like it got rid of any water supplement your body had. it was so parched, and the rain didn't do anything to seize this aching throat of yours. it felt like that alcohol you consumed the moment you first met him.

and gosh, you wanna go back to that moment.

but you're unable to.

not when he's like this. not when eren was clinging on to you for dear life, his chest to your back and the way his arm are surrounding your mid-waist.

"please stay, i don't- i can't live without you." eren desperately says near your ear, the rain not even helping with how loud it was but you heard him.

you thrashed around, prying his hands away from you as you faced him with eyes filled with tears. "now you want me to stay? you're the one who insisted on leaving me! remember that yeager!" you shouted at him as you shoved your fingers deep in his broad, toned, chest.

but he didn't mind, infact he receives it with grace as he allows you to shove your fingers. he deserve it, he knows.

"i never wanted us to part." he said with guilt underlying his use of tone. his eyes casted down, not able to see your tears streaming because it hurts him so much. so much to know he caused this.

"really now yeager? then why did you do it? why did you do that? i begged you to stay, till the moment you packed everything! i begged you to stay! i was up all those nights, wondering what was wrong with me!" eren felt a jab in his heart as he heard that, reminisced of what happened months ago flashed before his eyes. it hurts even more that you're calling him by his last name.

"nothing's wrong with you okay!? i didn't have a choice! i never wanted to leave you!" he shouted, gripping your shoulders suddenly as your eyes widened from his outburst.

"my aunt...my aunt told me that if i didn't break up with you then my mom and dad won't be going out of the hospital any sooner. i never wanted us to part! i never did!" eren shouted as his grip tightened, not enough to hurt you though.

then all of a sudden, you felt his lips pressed against yours. making you widen your eyes more if that's possible. his lips were so soft, like a marshmallow sinked in hot chocolate.

as you closed your eyes and reciprocated the kiss, it no longer felt like an innocent one. it felt more passionate and wild, like how a wildfire spreads. his lips were fervently pressed against yours as you granted him access, tongue roaming around fighting for dominance.

the rain felt like a mere background play, not caring anymore as you guys were soaked yet your bodies gave heat as your hands crawled up to his neck, tangling it around while playing with his hair as eren placed his on your waist. eren desperately kisses you more as you both made out in the rain, kiss getting deeper as he tilted his head to the side.

“How long have you been sober?” Armin asks him as he sulks in his make up chair.

“Few days.” This is a lie that Armin sees through it but doesn’t say anything.

“Please put the doctor on the phone cause I’m not making any sense.”

He had disappeared into the bathroom hours ago after a fight. Finally you get the courage to go check on him. Pressing your ear to the door gives you zero answers. It’s silent. You fear the worst.

“Eren?! Eren!!” You scream and begin pounding on the door. Nothing.

You grab your phone and start to dial 9-1-1. Armin leaves his room to check what’s going on. He decides to break the door. The lady on the other end of the phone is asking you questions you only answer after her second time asking most of them.

Eren is laying on the ground, a puddle of puke next to him, his skin is ghostly white. Eyes half lidded. You scream and sob as you kneel next to him, cradling his body in your arms as you cry for him to wake up until the ambulance gets there.

“We can fake it for the airwaves. Force our smiles baby, half dead. From comparing myself to everyone else around me.”

The song fades out as you drive, tears are rolling down your cheeks, Armin glances to you. If he notices, he doesn’t say anything. The radio cuts the silence.

Hello Anon, welcome back to the fandom! I've never seen a comprehensive list of all the AUs that have featured in the myriad franchises that have appeared over the years, but here are some of the most popular, in no particular order.

School Castes / High School AU

This one is by Isayama himself and it appeared as a short serial alongside the manga in Bessatsu Shonen magazine. Erwin is a history teacher and Levi is the school janitor.

In one episode Eren, who is a pupil at the school, daydreams that the school teachers have turned into zombies. I've lost count of all the fics this one has inspired. @ladymacbethsspot's Love Bites is one of the best.

In a variation on this theme Nobiace recently released a collaboration where Erwin is a PE teacher and Levi is a science teacher. The fandom has come up with some "interesting" uses for Erwin's whistle...

Sukiya AU

This was a collaboration with the Sukiya Gyudon restaurant chain. The characters all came with their own little bios. Levi was a salaryman and Erwin the foreman of a construction site. Erwin was Levi's senpai when they were in college together and they often shared meals together in the restaurant. The Sukiya AU has inspired loads of fic and the fandom has universally agreed that Sukiya Erwin is the horniest Erwin. I wrote a Sukiya AU called Building on the Past.

Mer / Royalty AU

This was a series of chibis that corresponded to the signs of the zodiac. Erwin was Leo and Levi Capricorn. These cute chibis inspired some incredibly angsty fic and art.

Neetwin

This is one of six “What If?” illustrations that Isayama did for the Shingeki no Kyojin Inside & Outside Guidebooks in 2014.  Neetwin has inspired some hilarious art and fic over the years, including the absolutely priceless Gamerwin by @lustfulcat

This was a collaboration with Tokyo Girls back in 2017. It's not so well known now, but it was hugely popular at the time. I wrote a dumb fic about Levi's iconic silver leggings called Chrome.

Cougar / Kitty AU

A recent collaboration with Re-Shazam which featured all the characters as different kinds of cats. Erwin is a cougar, I forget what breed Levi was supposed to be, but he's small, black and angry 😂 This one inspired an enormous amount of adorable art, and it's still going strong.

What made you ship it?

This was a straightforward case of really liking their dynamic in Season 1 (the only season out when I got into the fandom; I didn't read the manga) and not much caring for any of the other ships. The sheer wealth of fics to read had me staying and, eventually, writing. My own attempts at it were utter shit, but man, that fandom fed me for a while. I had a brief stint in it recently, and a lot of those old favorites held up surprisingly well.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Back then, in addition to enjoying their interactions, I liked the thematic connection between Humanity's Strongest and Humanity's Hope. The setting also lent itself well to angsty, plotty storylines. Once the plot developed further (Marley and further), despite losing interest in canon, I could still see the immense angst and canon divergence potential. In general, yes, but specifically involving these two.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Ah, I've been out of the fandom too long to know the trends or really care much.

What made you ship it?

The Whole Show. Bless Fuller, Mikkelsen, and Dancy. If I recall correctly, I watched the show for the first time well after Season 1, while Season 2 was airing. The homoerotic subtext with a heavy side of cannibalism was mesmerizing. I still cite it as one of my formative creative influences. Everything from the acting to the storyline made it one of the most compelling interpersonal relationships I've ever seen in media.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Where do I start? The romantic cannibalism, the corruption-creation angle that's inextricably connected to unearthing one's true self, the unfettered marriage of violence and sensuality—that show did something to my brain chemistry, and I'll be forever grateful.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Like above, I've been out of the fandom too long to know what's even happening.

What are some of your favorite fics? It doesn't have to be aot or something you've written

omg tysm for this question I love talking about my fav fics ESP BC SO MANY OF THEM ARE NON AOT 🙈🙈 I had to go to my ffn favs for this hihi

so this is list is home to the fics that I have truly idolised, read repeatedly and tried to emulate in some way or another in my own writing journey:

1. Heartbeat by letmeannoyyoutoday. U must have heard me screaming about this fic before. It is god tier, the angstiest, the most painful Sasusaku you can imagine. There isn’t even smut in it but still I’m rendered a sobbing mess everytime I read this story. And I read it every fortnight or so, I swear. canonverse. sasusaku get married.

2. The most dangerous things by Childoftheashes. Man this fic is the tastiest thing in the ichihime fandom istg. Ichigo is unapologetically horny and bossy and slutty and I love everything about it. Orihime is absolutely clueless and drives him up a wall and it’s literally completely smut! This author is one of my smut senseis. I also really love "chasing paper tigers like dreams" by her.

3. Sometimes I think the stupidest things by starsinew. Ok I’m sorry for putting this here bc this user doesn’t have this fic up anymore (I managed to find the epub and thank fuck for that) but I had to talk about it bc this fic changed me on a fundamental level. I fell in love with it so much, even to this day I look back at it with an education lens as to how to write smut. God tier. I hope this author is well and living their best life.

4. Friends with Benefits by confused panda bear. Syaosaku, card captor Sakura. Again a story that doesn’t exist anymore online but I still remember some of the dialogues bc they were so iconic. Definitely a primer on smut writing for me. I invite you to check out their other stories tho they’re literally the harugou mother, birthing the most insane crackship in the free! fandom and getting everyone else drunk on it thanks to their god tier writing.

5. Clarity by randomteenager — angsty but silly gruvia. i love it so much.

6. Seeking Ginny by Casca. Harry/Ginny fic with heavy emphasis on Ginny's personal growth.

7. How to Coexist by Spoilerarlert and also washed up and rundown, I haven't finished it yet but fuck its amazing so far. Both are modern AU stories, one in NYC and the other in Chicago. I can't recommend this author enough, they have a very original and compelling style of writing.

8. Little Beast by herblacktights. This is my fav modern au, high school eremika. If you haven't heard me raving me about this fic already then ur obviously new here. ITS AWESOME! go read it now

9. Dog by Ackermom. floch x eren at it's unhealthiest best. canonverse. This author is one my favs actually, I devour ALL of her work, no exception. I also really enjoyed her reibert fics.

10. Icarus & I by bluinary. Armin-centric. Modern AU. I read this many years ago but I think of it often. I loved Armin's journey in this fic.

11. Three Days by Lotos-Eater. Canonverse. An angsty smutty Shikatema fic where Shikamaru thinks he's lost her.

12. For everything there is a season by SouthSideStory. If y'all are sasusaku stans then you know SouthSideStory already. She's phenomenal. This one is angsty sequel which delves into Sakura's feelings post miscarriage. I highly recommend the prequel as well.

13. Fool for you by Hand of Destiny. Syaosaku. Card Captor Sakura. Syaoran is a business mogul from a very traditional Chinese family. Sakura is an innocent girl who decides to try giving the escort profession a go. God tier, I swear. It also has a sequel!

14. lost girl & found boy. eremika. lost girls-verse. mikasa wants to know how babies are made, etc. cw: teen pregnancy.

15. all you want by senlinyu. i just binged this yesterday. holy shit. it's the big daddy of m/f omegaverse fics, I swear. dramione. canonverse + omegaverse. really really good!!!
