revisiting this site every now and then to reminisce in how much it shaped me as a person and defined me as a literal child
#cuz i was looking thru old youtube playlists right#and i found this one video edited by wooly abt the time spicy went crazy over a kuroo x joe crackskip (hilarious btw)#(also i cant find spicy did they deactivate forever help)#but like something about the interactions. and seeing myself during that time. just hit really really really hard.#like that was a little girl. she was 12 or 13 or whatever and the people on this site were her entire world#and she'd wake up every morning and check her dashboard and send asks and break the post limit and that was like#a significant part of my childhood. and then one day i just stopped logging on.#and i never even realized it but i talked to some of these ppl for the last time and didnt even realize that that was the last time#the people who i swore id meet in person one day. i knew everything about them and they knew everything about me#and now theyre just memories. and i refuse to call that era of my life cringe because i wouldnt have had it any other way#sorry im really senti. i need to find people again i miss them#and now we've all grown in different ways. yk the meeting people twice thing? yeah.#when u all met me i was second yr middle school and now im second year high school#theres so much i had on this site. some days i want it back

yes ofc! so basically back in the late 2022 post volume 2 byler days, an author called oceanfruit wrote a very very VERY popular byler au fic falled "force of gravity" (its still one of the most popular byler fanfics on ao3. btw)
i actually read it myself, and it's quite good! highly recommend! but a lot of people didn't like it and were VERY vocal about not liking it to the point that the author - who was on tumblr, by the way - literally deactivated. people bullied them off the website because they wrote an au that they didn't like.
it was all very ridiculous and rude and honestly, i think it spawned from the fanfic getting SUPER popular in all corners of the fandom, especially with those who had not been in fandom before and didn't know how to act with fanfic authors and how to...not be a dick. and thus spawned the au hate that, luckily, many opposed but also many endorsed. idk. it was weird and dumb and clearly orchestrated by a bunch of people who had not been in fandom before lol
anyway. yeah that's pretty much it!

i think it would be the plot twist of the century if rescuesonic3 and that one person who was sending weird graphic asks about sonic characters to everybody a while back were the same person
#i know i said before that i wouldnt say their url publicly but they deactivated that specific blog so i dont feel bad about it now#do people even remember the torture guy#if you dont remember or just werent into sonic at the time basically they were spamming random sonic fans with asks and dms#that were just long ass messages about how they would torture or kill certain sonic characters#and bad things that they wish would happen to them. it was So weird#and they had like a million different blogs because people kept blocking them and they wouldnt take that as a sign to fuck off#i remember they kept bothering me for months even after they stopped sending stuff to every single sonic blog ever#but rescuesonic3 seems to be targeting sonic movie blogs specifically rather than general sonic blogs#and also they dont really talk about the same characters that torture guy liked to focus on#so maybe they are different people. but i cant help but wonder because some of the stuff theyre saying has a similar vibe#they havent interacted with me at all but i feel like now that im saying something about it its gonna summon them LMAO

There is no motivation for me to uncollapse the reblog chain—it looks like a boring conversation about the denominations of coins. And even if I do uncollapse it, you've ruined the joke by showing me the punchline before the setup. I am sad, Tumblr is boring, I go elsewhere to entertain myself, I see less ads, you make less money, everyone loses. 😥
Reblog chains are the best thing about Tumblr. They are your unique super power. They are the thing that makes people screenshot Tumblr and share it around. Why on earth would you kneecap them??
I don't know exactly how you plan to implement this. Give people the option to keep them collapsed if there truly are people who are annoyed by how long they can get (you already have a version of this feature), but don't collapse them for everyone or new users by default. Please. It will make Tumblr so much more boring.
