WHY did darkles do what he did and why were so many people loyal to him?

you can't change policies followed in other countries but are you doing anything to address ravkans' prejudice against the grisha? they're resentful of the grisha in spite of them having only one option at life - the army. has there been any education of how their powers work, of the history of oppression they've faced and continue to, of them being tortured in other countries. what about maintaining the monarchy when that monarchy has clearly NOT done anything for ravka at all? just because nikolai is a good person? what if his sons and grandsons are assholes? him and zoya got married. so? is there ALWAYS going to be a grisha on the throne? and it's not like there can't be evil grisha. why would you NOT install checks and balances in place?

the only thing alina did at the end was install the triumvirate. all her friends. who are occupying the same role the darkles had before except now she believes these are the good people. and okay they'll have more influence now on nikaolai and zoya. but their power and influence depends entirely on what the future monarchs are like jfc.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, the books are so weirdly anti-Grisha. The implications of the heroine losing part of her identity in a marginalized group so she could be paired off with her bigoted sexist boyfriend is just gross. What are we supposed to take from this ending if we saw our own marginalized experience in the Grisha? If you're gay, just stop being gay?

The way Alina is characterized in RoW is simply to double down on the garbage ending of Ruin & Rising, but it also has some weird implications. Like, Alina claiming she was never happy as a Grisha and acting like no longer being part of that persecuted class is what led to her happiness with her anti-Grisha boyfriend. It's easier for her to paint the Darkling as the ultimate evil because she can wash her hands of the societal reasons he did what he did because she killed him and "saved the day". Her job is done and she can just sit back and chill while her Grisha friends are putting themselves in danger.

The story fails to set up a heroic alternative to the Darkling. We're supposed to be rooting for the muggle prince Nikolai but then it comes off pro-monarchy and like the Grisha's role in Ravka must be replaced with muggle technologies in order to move "forward". It wasn't the Darkling's motives that made him evil, it was his methods---and even that is debatable. So why are we painting his status as a Grisha or Alina's status as a Grisha as perversions of power that will ultimately lead to villainy and must be "purified" by muggle alternatives?

The moral of the story seems to be less "power corrupts" and more "Grisha power corrupts" because apparently a monarchy is better??

That said, if Bardugo had wanted to engage with the persecution of the Grisha plot seriously and not treat it like window dressing for her world-building, this series would likely have to be much longer. I read somewhere that initially it was going to be a much longer series (like 8 books or something) but then she trimmed it down to 3 books and perhaps simplified the plot in the process?

How much of a piece of shit one must be to use their status as a public figure to fat-shame women? to say women shouldn’t expose themselves on the beach unless they have a thin and worked-out body? to back up such words by saying people go to the beach to see something pretty, not fat, stretch marks or sagging skin?! to assume every woman goes to the beach and “shows skin” with the intention to befriend men or him specifically, and that they should do more than show cleavage to achieve that?! Another example how trans women are treated as a special class of men is how several trans women, not one, not two, but at least four within the past two years have cited their dysphoria as the reason they were caught with child porn and received lenient sentences for it. That and how the UK police were willing to temporarily jail and investigate people for "thought crimes" as simple as liking a post on Twitter that was a feminist poem how womanhood is not a costume and they're still a man. That level of privilege, and being favored by the courts and police which no other minority or marginalized group is, is a privilege.

this is such a good addition!!! i can think of a couple high profile cases that were recorded as women with no mention to trans status (such as john/julie marshall who had over 80k counts of cp but got only 9 months in jail and 10yrs on the registry — which isn't nothing but jfc). there's another case i can think of, with a uk councillor (who in fairness wasn't trans, but absolutely falls in the same line of agp and cd. a lot of tims are into roleplaying as 'littles' or little girls, especially in sexual contexts) who had over one million counts of cp but engaged in 'therapeutic role-play' larping as an 'abused young girl' and got even less punishment, 40 days of rehab and put on the registry, again for 10yrs. it's insane to me.

i think what gets me with this type of crime is not only that it's a very male-typical crime (as in, women aren't really consuming cp as a group. that is almost unilaterally a male thing), but that it's reported in the news as having been done by a 'woman', no trans modifier. irritating af. the point about the level of privilege to get off easy while women who criticize you are treated as criminals is so poignant too, it's literally a privilege only men (esp white men) could have.

funnily enough while trying to find some cases i remembered, i stumbled upon an article by notcursede (if you don't know him, he's a pretty notorious tim with really cursed takes and a strong misogynistic streak. obvs thus very popular with tims) defending jess/josh bradley, a tim who got fired from his post as a university group officer after posting pictures of him flashing with his dick out, even at his work desk, on a tumblr blog that also included incest rape between father/son and sexualizing of underage boys. tbf a tumblr blog isn't a crime in and of itself (inb4 it should be harhar) but the fact that he literally posted proof of himself flashing randos on his own blog of his own accord and never faced further repercussion is wild to me. his ex-wife actually has a quote in the linked article that really speaks to the situation:

Even though Nega-Orn is the ‘bad’ version, he still doesn’t want his world destroyed.

He doesn’t have a Negaverse version because of reasons. I had a Posiversion storyline for him and Ornithopter. I originally headcanoned as the Posiversion as being too perfect and a bit of the movie ‘Minority Report’ vibes. Posi-Author is imprisoned in a status sleep because statistically he could become a villain so some pre-lockup. Though, he is able to communicate in dreams to Posi-Orn who is a very shy quiet shut-in that doesn’t hardly leave his home. Author encourages him to do some heroic things to help free other innocent people that are imprisoned. Author doesn’t send him after himself because he is in a too high security area. Though eventually as Orn’s confidence is built up the ultimate goal is he free’s Author without Author asking him to. . Yay. That is totally successful and nothing goes wrong. AHHH.

 I would have to find my old ipod and charge it for Author x Orn’s playlist but I do know I had two songs on it for the posi versions which was Placebo’s “Battle for the Sun” and “Sweet Prince.”

people are still dying because of covid 19, there’s so many people not vaccinated whether due to their own stupid anti-vax beliefs or lack of access to the vaccine. and then there’s people who have decided they’re now invincible with the vaccine so they’re traveling around and doing all these things not taking into consideration they could now be a carrier and taking it to countries/people who haven’t been able to get the vaccine.

like I get the “life goes on” whatever bullshit, but do people not understand that life MUST go on DIFFERENTLY from how it did before?? we are years from being able to function in a similar way to way society did pre covid jfc. A couple shots didn’t solve your problems, you aren’t back to 100% because you live in a society filled with other people who may or may not have the same accessibility and privileges as you do.

Volunteer Work

Inspired by conversations that were unintentionally hilarious in nature.

Summary: Trowa, university professor and all around nice guy, volunteered to help with Midnight Breakfast, a little something the faculty does for students during finals week.

Most of the chatting in this was actual conversation, with a few minor edits, so any spelling/punctuation mistakes are intentional 

Trowa walked into the student center, far too early to be fashionable. He glanced around the large space, then sighed, resigning himself to waiting on one of the various benches lining the hall.

It was better than standing around like one of the awkward teens he was here to feed.

Why he had ever volunteered was a question he asked himself more times than he cared to count, starting from the moment his lips betrayed him with a single word.

With another sigh, he pulled out his phone, pulling up the group chat that kept up permanent residence on his home screen. A quick glance showed the others were online, or at the very least, had their chat open as well. He brought the phone to face level and snapped a quick photo, shooting it off to the others.

At the student center about to makes eggs for the youths. This is my excited face.

He sat back and waited, and wasn’t surprised Duo was the first to answer.

Duo: Nah, that’s your ‘Wtf am I doing here face’. I can tell by that gleam in your eye.

Trowa snorted, waiting as the status changed, indicating someone else was typing.

Wufei: They better appreciate you

Quatre: ^^^^^

He quirked a grin, quickly typing his response.

I’m sure they will, free food and all

Most of my students are on the verge of nervous breakdowns because of the workload so they will appreciate the hell out of it

“Oh good! I’m so glad you made it!”

Trowa looked up to the woman standing in front of him, her relief clear. He moved to stand, but she waved him down.

“You volunteered to do eggs, right?”

“Yes?” Trowa answered hesitantly, sensing a ‘but’ in her statement.

“Could you do us a huge favor and make the pancakes instead?” she wrung her hands, watching him expectantly. “Jackie’s never done pancakes, but said she can do the eggs easily.”

Trowa suppressed a sigh, knowing it would only stress the poor woman more if he told her the truth. “Sure, I’ll make pancakes.”

She let out a huge sigh, shoulders sagging as a smile cracked her face. “Oh thank god. Thank you!”

He nodded, then waited until she left before snatching his phone, the thin thread of panic pushing his fingers to blinding speed.

I got switched to pancakes!

Fuck me

I just pour in and don’t let it turn brown right?

The response was thankfully immediate.

Quatre: Pancakes are easy

Trowa quirked an eyebrow at the statement.

Are there rules?

Quatre: No rules

Quatre: You just look

Trowa frowned thoughtfully at his screen. That sounded simple enough.

Okay, I can do this.

Duo: It has little bubbles in the center when done

Duo: XD

Quatre: You can def do it

Duo: I have all the confidence in you

Quatre: But the bubbles! When they pop and leave little holes they are ready to flip

Duo:^^^

Duo: That’s a much better way of explaining it

Trowa blinked at the rapid fire responses crawling up his screen, the two hellions bouncing information off each other faster than he could react. So, just watch for bubbles. That didn’t sound difficult. Until he realized the second part.

Oh shit

When do I know the post flipped side is done?

Quatre: When the bubbles pop like that it means the batter is done all the way through except the exposed side

It was then the final member of their group decided to join in.

Heero: I have no experience with pancakes

Trowa bit the inside of his cheek to stifle his snort. He was surprised he answered at all. Meanwhile, Quatre continued his instructions.

Quatre: So just flip and cook long enough to brown

Trowa checked the clock, then stowed his phone as he rose, making his way to the line of tables set up on the far side of the main hall. He found the woman who had spoken to him earlier, the Director of Student Life, if he remembered correctly. She looked up as he approached.

“I was just about to come get you,” she nodded to a skillet set up at the end of the table. “You’re station is ready. We’re just waiting for them to bring out the batter, then you can start.”

He looked over the arrangement, then made a snap decision.

“Do you have any piping bags?”

She paused, staring at him with wide eyes. “What?”

“Piping bags,” he repeated patiently. “So I can make designs.”

She blinked at him a moment longer, then finally found her voice. “How Pinterest of you.”

It was Trowa’s turn to blink, feeling vaguely insulted as she turned away, mumbling to herself. He frowned, then found a nearby chair, deciding to sit and wait for his batter to arrive. Once settled, he pulled his phone out once more, already anticipating the reactions from the others.

I asked if they had piping bags so I could do cool designs

Wufei: Oh my god

Trowa quirked a grin and pressed on.

The director of student life looked at me like I was insane

And said “how Pinterest of you”

Quatre: You are insane!

Duo’s response was simply a row of laughing emojis, stretching Trowa’s smirk.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt more insulted.

But Christmas tree pancakes would be cool, right?

Duo: Never done this before, let me

Duo: Pipe some cool ass designs

Well, when put that way, Trowa thought with a smile, it did seem rather ridiculous.

Wufei: Just make pancakes holy fuck

If he were less reserved, or Duo or Quatre, he would be holding his sides from laughing. Their reactions made the night more bearable before it had even begun.

SHE doesn’t know I’ve never done this before

Duo: I’m dying right now

Quatre: How Pinterest of you? That’s amazing

Trowa looked up thoughtfully, eyeing the griddle for a moment before replying.

I bet I can still drizzle with the pitcher of batter

Or end up with a solid square of pancake…

If I put the batter in a vinyl glove will it taste awful?

He couldn’t help it; he grinned at the screen, waiting for his feed to explode.

He wasn’t disappointed.

Duo: This is getting batter and batter

Duo: I have no idea

Trowa could picture him grinning like a loon, his full bellied laughs echoing through the room.

Wufei: Do not do that

Wufei: Just make pancakes

The image of Wufei scowling at his phone rose in his mind.

Quatre: At least until you get the hang of it then you can have fun but if you don’t know what you’re doing they’ll be raw dough in the middle

Heero: Master a normal pancake first

“Okay, everything’s ready.”

Trowa tucked his phone away and made his way to his station, thoughtfully eyeing the two pitchers of pancake batter.

“Just get a stack ready,” she pointed to the empty tray next to the skillet. “Then you can make more as needed.”

He nodded, hefting the first pitcher. He poured on the batter, replaying the instructions as he watched the thick liquid solidify and bubble. He waited a minute longer, then flipped the pancake, frowning at the dark brown color. Trowa cut down his wait and flipped the finished pancake into the tray, noting the lighter brown on the second side.

Not bad for his first attempt.

After a few more tries, he decided to try for the designs. The pitcher was unwieldy, but he drizzled the batter in loops, an easier feat with half the batter gone. He flipped the finished pancake in with the others, a satisfied smirk in place.

He finished a few more, then pulled out his phone once more, snapping a picture of the finished products.

Quatre: I’m very impressed tbh

Trowa smiled and put the device away one final time, nodding his thanks to the professor who switched out his empty pitcher for a new one. He could see the students milling around at the entry, clutching their books and bags, looking more like zombies than living beings.

It was going to be a long night, but now he didn’t feel so bad about volunteering.

Jfc where to even begin with that.

It’s not that minorities can’t be bad people, everyone knows they can be because they’re human beings you fuckwad. Literally no one is saying it’s impossible for them to be villains. The problem (at least to me) is that in the show it’s framed as though being a minority gives people status that they use to become bad people, when in real life that’s not remotely true, and that’s bad especially because it kinda promotes the idea that minorities aren’t in any way oppressed anymore, like now they’re on top and they have power, but in reality being a lgbt high schooler or a fat high schooler or a poc high schooler is still gonna get shit thrown your way! Like maybe it’s better than it used to be in some places but that’s not really saying much!

And the whole “we shouldn’t need all these labels” idea the show seems to push only works for people who fit within the cultural norm, because otherwise people are quick to make assumptions (like that you’re cishet) or say x thing doesn’t really exist because there’s no word for it. Terms like genderqueer and bisexuality and lgbt and all the fucking other labels exist so that people can say “heres the thing I am, it’s a real thing that exists and there’s a community behind it” so their identities don’t get fuckin erased. So yeah maybe we shouldn’t “need” labels but we fuckin do and listening to a skinny cishet white girl complain about it is hella aggravating

(Besides, actually trying telling people irl you don’t have a label for your gender or your sexuality and see how they react. When they say they don’t “want all these labels” they just mean “we don’t want to have to acknowledge these people”)

Side note: yes, I know JD is the “real” villain of heathers, but the heathers and the popular students are still depicted as bad people and are still antagonists and are still KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS

T. Themes

Themes from “The Burden of Rule”

1. Change:

How things have changed after the war, and how things have not.

Larsa wishes to change Archades into a society that is more understanding and loving towards foreigners in a post-war Ivalice, and he has visions of a multicultural Archades in the future. He wants to take the focus off of gaining status and reputation, and he wishes to decrease the class divide. (BASICALLY, Larsa wants to change everything. What an ambitious boy.)

Larsa is very different from Emperors of the past, and the Senate is having difficulty adjusting to the “radical” ways of their new emperor.

Penelo’s entire world changes when she is appointed Ambassador, of course.

2. Truth and Deceit:

Archades is a city of curious knowledge-seekers, and Penelo finds herself influenced by them, developing an investigative nature.

The news businesses twist the truth in favour of their own interests, as well as the interests of their respective districts. Rumours are spread about Larsa.

Penelo learns the balancing act of giving out the right info, while keeping the info that others can use to hurt her.

Penelo learns unspeakable truths that were hidden for a long time.

3. Unity and Division:

“In cooperation lies our hope.” – Larsa Ferrinas Solidor

Larsa wishes to strengthen Archadia’s relationship with Dalmasca, and Rozarria.

The formation of the new district, called Orbon, aka the reconstructed Old Archades, has reunited the “vulgars” of Old Archades with their loved ones in the city.

After spending the last few years isolated, Larsa finally reunites with his friends in Dalmasca, and eventually others.

The ever growing divide between Larsa’s ideals, and the Senate.

Archades is divided into districts, and each district has different opinions on Larsa. Some are heavily against, some are in support, and some are mixed (much like swing states in the U.S!) Because of this, when word gets out about Larsa’s bill, all hell breaks loose, and Larsa feels AWFUL for dividing his city.

4. Identity and Belonging:

Larsa struggles with his identity as a leader, whether he should compromise, or follow what he feels is right. As the last remaining member of House Solidor, there is no family to follow anymore, and he must make a new place for himself in Archadia’s history.

Penelo has always seen herself on the streets of Rabanastre, struggling to make ends meet, dancing with her troupe until she can dance no more. But now that the war is over, and the years have passed, Penelo finds herself at a loss for what to fight for, and grows bored with only providing entertainment. She looks to the mysterious and powerful world of government and politics in search of a purpose beyond her current understanding.

5. The Importance of Self-Value:

Larsa overworks himself in pursuit of his goals, neglecting both his mental and physical health, and Penelo will point out to him many times that he needs to remember to take care of himself.

Larsa and Penelo both feel like they are not good enough/ not worthy of their positions of power, and they each help the other realise that they are wrong.

THE BURDEN OF RULE, JFC. It was originally about the liberation of Landis, what a stupid idea right??? Lolololol  But now it makes sense why in the current incarnation of the story, I have crammed many Landisians in Archades’ new district, Orbon. Some of it had to survive - too bad my lesbian Landisian judge and her sky pirate/terrorist brother didn’t. I liked them. Maybe I can cram them into the story as minor characters Penelo gets info from. IDK.

OH. AND PENELO WASN’T AN AMBASSADOR. WTF WHEN DID I PUT THAT IN??? It’s been three years, man.

At some point I played with the idea of an impeachment storyline. I still do. I just love the idea of the Senate putting Larsa on trial for something. I get delicious shivers, and I think about the scene in FFX when Yuna is on trial.

Some things have remained: the decline in Larsa’s mental health, the panic attack scene, and Larsa vs. the Senate. Wow I am shameless when it comes to giving out spoilers.

V. Which story was the most viscerally pleasing to write? Tell us your narrative kinks.

The Burden of Rule, mainly because I’VE BEEN WAITING THREE YEARS TO FINALLY DO IT.

ANYWAYS… I’m a dialogue slut, so narrative has never been my thing. Butttt, if I had to choose, it would be INTERIOR MONOLOGUES. That’s the good shit. Any scene where Larsa is thinking about how inferior he is/ how much he hates himself, just makes me feel so satisfied.

Things like:

               Leave it to him to bore a girl to sleep.

               AND:

               “My Lord,” he warned, and Larsa turned his head to face him, “I advise we depart shortly if you wish to arrive before nightfall.”

Time is running short.

“She will be here; I am sure of it.” Larsa succeeded in keeping his voice calm, despite his increased heart rate.

Why must Basch always worry? Larsa did not need someone else to worry for him.

He directed his gaze downward so that all he could see was the floor, his own crossed arms, and his chest. He became increasingly aware of how shallow his breathing had become. Perhaps he could try to slow it down…

But there was no time for that.

She will not show.

Of course not; why would she? No one as pure as her would taint themselves in the twisted world of Archadian politics willingly. Penelo was no fool, unlike him. He was the only fool here, to think for a second that she would actually show up. The war may be over, but he was sure Penelo’s memories of it remained. He would not blame her if she wanted nothing to do with this…

 Z. If you could choose one work and immediately finish it, what would it be? How would you end it?

Ya’ll don’t know about “Discreet.” It was a sexy oneshot I made in my head about Penelo meeting a middle aged Dalmascan/Archadian woman who owns the only sex shop in Archades. (I headcanoned Archades as having a culture where sex is a dirty subject no one with respect talks about openly. Kids are taught abstinent-only bullshit. That kinda shit. The sex shop is in the new district, tucked away in some dark corner lol. Oh yeah, and it’s called “Discreet” lololol) So this had newly established Larnelo, and Penelo asks sex shop lady for advice on how to seduce an Archadian man, because Penelo is thirsty and Larsa is shy as hell and is not getting the hint. Oh yeah, and he might be demisexual. Obviously, this was gonna be femdom. Cause I love me some femdom.

WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE? The most noticeable scents on Radonis’ person are some perfumes that he taps on his wrists, neck, and behind his ears. He prefers intense, strong, dry fragrances with a certain pungent shade, or fresher, citrusy scents that do not forsake a biting note. Such as spruce fir, bergamot and orange/lemon (stuff that we might call the basic Eau de Cologne), rosemary, mint, amber, labdanum (which has a dense, leather-like scent), cloves, burnt wood, sandalwood and patchouly, nutmeg. It’s a very forward kind of perfumes, they have a presence, though lightened by the citrus and mint and marine notes. Other than that, he’ll smell of soap, very classic and unscented soaps (marseille or plain stuff, basically). There is, then, the scent of clean and/or starched clothes and the sharp sting of lyrium. We’re not gonna mention his time in the legions. The frontlines and camps in Seheron smell like wet jungle, shit, and mud, and tbh he did too.

HOW OFTEN DOES YOUR MUSE BATHE/SHOWER? ANY HABITS? Now with the reminder that his Seheron days are not to be mentioned (he did bathe whenever he could even there, but then it started raining or the fog clung to his skin and... yeah), Radonis bathes once a day or once every two days at the worst. What he does every morning is washing himself with a certain haste but thoroughly, in a smaller tub within his apartments. Considering that there’s magic everywhere and there are fountains that work without plumbings because of said magic, it wouldn’t surprise me if he had also a sort of shower to be extra fast when there’s the need. It takes him fifteen-twenty minutes and then he is free to get ready for morning receptions and other duties. Now, the evening is when he takes the time to go to the palace’s thermae. Long, warm baths with bubbles, shoulder massages, foot massages, possibly a drink and guests. But since he can’t always indulge in that kind of activity, he might simply have his feet washed in warm water and then go to sleep.

DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY TATTOOS OR PIERCINGS? Damn this one is quick. Neither.

ANY BODY MOVEMENT QUIRKS? (E.G. KNEE SHAKES?) Radonis raises his eyebrows like he was born for it. It’s an expression and a movement that is at times somewhat subconscious, a resting raised-eyebrows-face. It’s rather phlegmatic, accompanied by all the politeness of his smile. He is also extremely used to wielding a staff in his left hand most of the time as a symbol of status (and as a weapon), which means that if he has no staff to wield for whatever reason he might still sort of bend his arm at the waist, close to his body, and keep his fingers in a position similar to a very loose fist. 

WHAT DO THEY SLEEP IN? Option a, naked. Option b, in short silky breeches. Option c, he adds a silky or cotton or woolen shirt, possibly with accompanying trousers. The embroidery on these clothes is minimal as well as minimalistic and they are usually in shades of cream and green. If it’s really that cold, the bed will be furnished with a heavier duvet.

WHAT’S THEIR FAVOURITE PIECE OF CLOTHING? Uh... the Ring of the Ferryman? No but really, the ring that represents his rule and office is the only item he never takes off unless he’s bathing (and even then, not always). But, in general, Radonis has a preference for outfits with a rigid and high collar, somewhat structured, with clean lines and leather, but also with an overabundance of cloth so that you could say there’s some drapery and multiple layers. He usually covers most of his skin but in summer, when the heat allows for naked arms and/or shoulders depending on the occasion. A teal outfit with ivory details is one of his favourite and oldest ensemble in his wardrobe. All of them, in true Tevinter fashion, could be considered half armour and half clothing, to different degrees of functionality and protection, and all of them are enchanted. He also really does like riding gear for a trip with a dracolisk.

WHAT DO THEY DO WHEN THEY WAKE UP? His normal routine is fairly simple. Sort of. He wakes up at 6, no later than 7am, or is woken up by his maid. His slave assistant, Flavius, brings him the private correspondence, which Radonis either reads immediately or will have placed on his desk. He pets his cats, then goes to have his quick bath/shower (while Flavius gives him further daily news and/or reads the letters aloud and/or reorganises that day’s schedule), then gets dry with towels and a bathrobe. he chooses the breakfast outfit or is brought the official regalia, depending on how early he must be in the Senate. He gets dressed, sits by the mirror where his beard is styled a bit with some oil and possibly also trimmed at need. He wears kajal and sometimes perfume. He sits by the desk and takes care of the most urgent administrative issues, prepares for the morning’s meetings and for the session of the Magisterium. Leaves his apartments and reaches a private and small dining room where he has breakfast with that morning’s most influential guest. Washes his mouth with peppermint, cleans his teeth with a liquorice stick. Moves to the reception chamber and meets people and petitioners until it’s time to go to the Magisterium. Sometimes he can sleep in (with Urian), and in such cases it’s likely that he’ll be in bed until 9-10am. ...Having slaves who help in his routine sure makes it all easier.

HOW DO THEY SLEEP?  POSITION? He sleeps nicely and changes position often. It’s not rare that he’ll wake up in a position other than that in which he fell asleep. Generally he lies on his side or on his belly though, and that doesn’t really change whether he’s alone or has company. But if he has company he likes to use his partner as a pillow or to big-spoon them and hug them from behind.

WHAT DO THEIR HANDS FEEL LIKE? Elegant like a nobleman’s, neat, with clean fingers, clean and trimmed nails. The palms, however, have some minor calluses because of the constant staff-wielding and there is a sort of echo of his time in the cavalry legions --- like a couple of barely visible scars. The back of them is sun-touched and his wrists perfumed.

IF YOU KISSED THEM, WHAT WOULD THEY USUALLY TASTE LIKE? Likely peppermint and slightly of liquorice from what he uses to freshen his breath and clean his mouth and teeth. And idk, depends on what you eat if you just finished lunch or dinner too. Maybe tea during the afternoon? He likes his tea.

fun fact: golden sun, like the first generation of pokemon games, has no key item slot. we all remember how that went in engreen... also, each character has a separate inventory, which other characters cant access. so if, for example,  you have four herbs, you can either stack them all in one character's inventory, or spread them out among everyone. if you want to save inventory space, the first option seems the most reasonable... until the guy holding all the herbs dies in battle.
