I mean, in hindsight the Jade Emperor most likely didn't know MK existed at all. At the very least aside from Nezha, I don't think any other celestial knew the existence of MK till s5, and even he most likely didn't see him as much of a threat since he was still, y'know, a human child and not much compared to his mentor. I uh, don't really understand why everyone assumes the Jade Emperor (in Lego Monkie Kid, specifically), would actually be concerned about MK. Cause I feel like Nezha most definitely reported about him to the celestial realm, but they kinda just...don't care. And for good reason, because it isn't till s4 (where my man JE dies) that Mk's nonsense about harbinger of chaos is revealed, and if the Ten Kings of Hell didn't know MK was the harbinger, then less for the celestial realm.

And also just. Mk's not very threatening, if you ask me. The villains in the show are more scared of his mentor than they are of him, to be frank, and ignoring minor demons like Yin and Jin aside, they pick Mk as a target because everyone knows you can't bully Wukong. Jade Emperor would've taken one look at MK and go, "Huh. Wukong, why couldn't you be more like this sweet, gentle, angel?" And you have Wukong giving JE the bombastic side eye cause wdym he's not an angel??

But MK having twins with Reader would give everyone else a heart attack. Especially Pigsy I imagine because he takes one look at MK then grabs you and shrieks, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING!???" (For good reason MK has like one brain cells and Wukong holds it).

Also no offense but. If the demons in LMK took one look at MK and thought he was an easy target to vent their frustrations about Wukong onto him, then imagine beings like the Jade Emperor. He's not even going to bat an eye if Wukong shows up with his grandbabies because he's gonna go, "Huh, neat. Your cute little student made them? They have his eyes."

Dunno why everyone is obsessed with believing every demon and god are terrified of MK because he's Wukong's student. Everyone is mad pissy at Wukong in canon but especially the demons, can't do anything about it, so their source of frustration is his student, y'know, MK?

Just because he's Wukong's student doesn't automatically make him scary or threatening. And if you're someone powerful at best you're gonna look at MK and think exactly what Macaque says: some kid with a heavy stick. Because till s5, that's what he is. A kid. With a heavy stick. The most threatening thing about MK is that he most likely has rabies and has no remorse in biting your arm off. People just don't know that from first glance because he's sweet.

Shadow of the King Au Art Dump

1. The Stalwart Generals

I spent an ungodly amount of time figuring out the designs, dynamics, and personalities of all of these monkies so I'll be damned if I don't show them first.

The Generals take care of anything SWK is unable to. They are in charge of FFM when he's not present.

Marshal Ma - While technically all the generals are the same rank, Marshal Ma is considered SWK's unofficial second in command. She's calm in every crisis with a very low bs tolerance and is 75% of the reason why the island doesn't fall to chaos every time SWK leaves. She's highly respected by all the inhabitants and can and will break your spine Bane style if the situation calls for it.

Marshal Liu - Mean bisexual. Marshal Ma's sister and the bane of her existence. On duty she takes her role very seriously. Off duty she likes to keep Ma on her toes with her dumbassery. She's easy going, hates clothes, and loves to fight. She has a slightly concerning amount of knives on her person at all times. She is big gay for General Beng.

General Beng - Meaner lesbian. A siamang and the largest and tallest of the generals. She enjoys dressing up, tea (both kinds), and a good party. She has a very short fuse. While her size and strength alone would generally deter anyone from testing her temper, there are always idiots. She can fight, but she knows her Liu would enjoy it more.

General Ba - The youngest of the generals. While she's not shy, she is very quiet. She does not waste her words. But, when she speaks, the others will stop whatever they're doing to listen. She likes to spend her free time in the libraries. Get her in the right mood and she'll argue with you for hours about the most random subjects.

2. Macaque face evolution

Was trying to get a feel for Macaque's face and how it changes throughout the au. Top right is the youngest, bottom right is the oldest. Bro gets all sorts of messed up from the whole died and resurrection thing and very much looks wrong afterwards.

3. New fit

Macaque and SWK have the whole cape thing going on, I figured SWK gave Mac one of his own when he was still training under him. I like to think it holds a lot of sentimental value to him since he still wears it in present day but he would rather get his head smashed in again than admit it.

4. I'm sure this won't come back to bite anyone later

Eeesh. Imagine spending your whole life training to receive and keep the Sun Wukong's attention only for him to casually give it to some random human boy thousands of years later. I mean, Macaque did betray him and everything, but it's the principle.

5. The Tongbi Gibbon Concepts

One of the four world-wrecking/celestial monkies. My brain was very focused on the whole pulling celestial bodies out of the sky part of her abilities that I made her based around that line.

Don't know if this fit is still canon as she and the Horse Monkey had a large role to play in Shadow of the King, and I'm considering if I should take them out

Bonus:

I consider the Tongbi gibbon and the Horse Monkey to be older than both Sun Wukong and Macaque in Shadow of the King. The Horse Monkey is the eldest, but the Tongbi's age is nothing to sniff at.

That being said, that does not mean she can't be bought.

Of course he's not aware and you want to keep it that way. You finally gave birth to your cub until he showed up again. You try to remain calm and hide until he goes away. But your baby seem to be aware that that's his father and zipped right out of your arms and right dead smack into his. After He came back to his senses and got his balance back. You told him exactly what happened hopeing maybe this would scare him off for good. Wait why is he smiling??? And why is he asking you to be his girlfriend?!?!?

(NR Wukong) Goddamn you really considered getting a restraining order with this guy. By no means, were you interested? He was attractive looking, but that's all you felt he's got for going for him. You agreed because well you happen to like Angry orchid apple Wine. The next morning you woke up to him inside your Bed. Already knowing what's going on and what's happening? You kicked him out your house once again. A few months later, you were busy handling your new born. Calm, you'll love the little guy very much. But he is quite a handful invite. He seems to be just as clinging to you as his father is and speaking of his father. A certain young man named lee had dragged them by his many years to your home as an apology and for him to take responsibility for what happened. (HIB Wukong) He was really cool with you. You had a lot in common. So you had no problem with him coming over to your territory. To hang out or even talk to you. He then introduced you to Liuer Who was the sweetest happiest boy you ever met These two were the best company you had in a long time. One day Wukong Came by himself because you had Some things to ask of him. You quickly told them that your heat was coming up and that he was the only one you felt can help you with it. Despite being shocked and the massive blush on his face. He agreed to help you since he started liking you over the time you spent together and vice versa. A few months later He finally confessed about how He felt about you and you felt the same And surprised them with the baby cub you had with you that looks a lot like him. It would have been a nice surprise if he didn't pass out.

(Mk Reborn Wukong) This guy just irks your nerve. Apparently he wasn't too happy at the fact that you got your own place and all your own stuff so to win.All that stuff you have. He challenged you to a battle which didn't even last long. Because you beat his ass what a bat that you found in your home. This became the beginning to a bloody rivalry. Because every time he shows app, you gonna have to fight him. Fist or with a weapon in was just not Goin anywhere and it became a battle of back-and-forth. Push and pull all that stuff. One time he was more aggressive than usual and so were you? And I hope you understood why until you had Performed impulsive But pleasurable action against each other And seemingly horrified by what he just did with you. He took off your island hopefully never to be seen again. Well it would have been if that same dumb ass with The attitude problem of a fire cracker didn't knock you up. You weren't too upset though. You were gifted with a beautiful cub and you wouldn't trade her for the world. A bunch of months later, a monk named tang was dragging monkey king by the ear towards you. Apparently he found out what the Wukong did and is now making him take responsibility. He could grumble and growl. All he wants, but the second he sees you with a Cub That looks like you to blend together he realized what he needs to do.

(Netflix Wukong) You Guys were already friends in the beginning. You found him to be quirky, energetic cheerful and well a bit innocent too. He was also fairly naive to the world around him. But that's because he's brand new and you super cute. You To experience a lot of things together and go to a lot of places. You were even there when he found that talking stick. And you gave him support with the whole jade palace and the Dragon king war going on and you were even sealed under the mountain with him. You guys been through a lot and when you got out, you addressed that you had feelings for one another celebrated. A few months later, you guys have 2 cute little cups. Who knows what the future holds for your little family.

well here's my full season 5 (nezha edition) rant bc what did i just watch

what the fuck was that

blah blah animation, blah blah main character sacrifice, wowee

first off, the mechs?? yeah, i know it's just product placement, and i've never actually liked the concept. in a world of mythology and magic, something to technological belongs in a sci-fi movie, not among gods. and in season 5 especially, they feel *so* out of place. the only people who end up actually using their mech are nezha (twice) and mei (once.) i can't be mad at mei, since yeah it's just one time to have an epic moment and goes away after that, but it's nezha that i'm mad about. that standoff at the festival? okay, product placement, epic moment, never brought up again. but then during the battle thing against the chaos guy??? he's the *only one* using a mech and it ticks me off. i wanna see the third lotus prince not the third lotuce mech!! i wanna see him being all badass with his staff and firewheels (like sealing off the jade emperor's power in s4)

i'm gonna be so honest, i only watched the season (and show) for nezha, as i tend to do to medias when i have a top unbeatable absolute favorite. and the show did not deliver.

tldr; nezha had so much potential and all of it went right down the drain

you do not understand what i would've done, what war crimes i would've committed in order for nezha to get some focus on HIM. specifically angst. with the shit that he went through in s3, being nerfed and having his long-term position as guardian of the map pulled out from right under him by his little friendly rival, and then *s4*, getting his ass absolutely kicked by the shit that went down with azure, being the most injured and put under the giant strain of containing the jade emperor's power, you're not gonna elaborate and give him some depth besides "big brother energy but distant and super 'regal'"?? (btw if you've ever EVER written nezha angst (or even some nezha-centric stuff in general) on ao3 i've probably read it and oh my god i love you so much for gifting it to the world, and if you read this far recs are always appreciated 😭)

actually on that note, mk is the one constantly making trauma jokes, and while i get that he's the main character, everyone's gone through shit. s5 at least kind of works with that, with mei's samadhi fire thing and wukong/macaque's death memory thing, along with pigsy's insecurity moment and sandy's little "i'm very very angry but i control myself" spiel, but like come on ☹️ (not a ruse to get nezha some angsty focus wdym)

ALSO mk breaking the seal? yk how in s4 we had that little thing where their eyes flashed and they felt the jade emperor die? i was lowkey expecting a little similar shot of nezha feeling his seal on the power break but no we needed the emotional moment 😒

i was so excited in the festival scene for nezha to go "yeah, okay, i see you", fight against his father, and join the MCG, but nooooOoo he gets sent to the celestial realm to not be seen until the end of the world

OH SPEAKING OF not nezha but red son??? what happened to the poor guy i feel so bad for red son enjoyers because he had ONE EPISODE of screen time. that's worse than us nezha fans. that little bit about the dog videos meaning help us could've so been used later, he literally joked about how this time he was invited and just. didn't show up?? there could've been such a sick moment of mei sending the dog video, and red son seeing it and coming in and being all badass with them but no he was just literally not featured again except for the 'world is ending/being saved' flash shots. (unrelated but please i want canon big brother nezha lil bro red son content those guys are Iconic)

ANYWAY it's coming to an end now, and boy oh boy

basically i have futile, naive hopes for s6 - please, PLEASE give nezha focus that lasts longer than 1-2 scenes. it literally does not have to be angsty, nor big brother energy, not even a badass moment!! just make it mechless and put the camera on *him*, and i will die a happy woman. (another badass moment, in which he wins for once, would make me cry for joy. a big brother, to literally anybody, specifically red son or mk, would make shake and snarl like a feral animal. an angsty moment would make me force the world to be puppies and rainbows. a nezha episode would make me implode and take the world with it.)

bring back li jing and do it *right*. make nezha bring up their horrible past, and at that point, i'd even settle for a corny talk-it-out session with wise words and an issue that gets resolved way too quickly, though an epic fight scene would be preferable. angst not optional, because you can't tell me that interaction would end without tears and breakdowns on nezha's end. (at this point, i'll write it myself)

LET NEZHA WIN. i do not care what he fights, who he fights, when he fights, why he fights, how he fights, let him actually cop a win for once. this fearsome general who was entrusted with guarding the samadhi map, is a protector deity, and managed to singlehandedly contain the jade emperor's power has never won a single fight within his show screen time?? bull fucking shit i tell you. stop treating this guy who carried the end of s4 like some shit side character who never gets his way, and start treating the guy right.

also ACTUAL s5 thing, not gonna lie, mk's decision is stupid. nüwa is trying to protect her creations like a good mighty goddess, and you go "erm actually me some random guy who you created to save the world and was about to do so is gonna undo all of your work and decide to make my own path and simultaneously create a massive crisis where i not only flip normal on its ass and give everyone magic but also potentially unleash the same cosmis horror you're protecting us from"
