So who here is apart of the “Goku lied to Frieza about resurrecting him after the Tournament of Power” gang? Because whenever I bring it up people yell at me for not understanding Goku’s character. As if I haven’t been in this fandom for nearly 2 decades 😭

I also love how Vegito and Gogeta are not only distinctly different beings, and the former is conducted primarily by Vegeta while the latter is conducted primarily by Goku - but Vegito is clearly the more benevolent and emotionally involved of the two people, while Gogeta tends more towards frigidity and vindictiveness. Because as individuals, Vegeta’s “good side” is just as subliminal and rare to witness as Goku’s “bad side,” right; Vegeta is not a nice man by nature, and Goku doesn’t have a grudge holding bone in his body. Goku’s lack of any impulse towards vengeance is the only reason Vegeta is still breathing. This is well established.
But when Vegeta is shown to care for other people, it always manifests as him lashing out in defense of them against some greater source of cruelty - he gets pissed at Beerus for humiliating his father, he attacks Beerus for hurting Bulma, he freaks out on Cell for killing Future Trunks & knocks Present Trunks out immediately after hugging him for the first time, because he knows his son would insist on staying with him through his kamikaze attempt on Buu. Because Trunks is like that. Because Trunks is his son.
And Vegito takes that principle and drags it out to the extreme! The whole first fight with Buu is just him playing this sadistic cat and mouse game, very much in the arrogant style of Vegeta, but he also makes constant mention of the loss of Gohan, Goten, Trunks and the others - using the language of “stealing” “hunting” and “kidnapping” that brings to mind Vegeta’s own childhood trauma. He displays some aspects of Goku’s personality of course, with the playfulness and the attempts to get Buu to surrender, but Vegeta is obviously steering this ship. It’s his confidence and self-superiority that makes them lose the fight, and his belief in the necessity of a warrior’s “pride” that he explicitly cites as his reason for looking down on Buu.
Because this is what Vegeta’s attempts at “good” look like, right? Preternaturally violent and egotistical, but with a sense of protectiveness and paternity that renders his behavior heartwarming, at least enough to show you that he’s grown from the smirking, bloodthirsty garden gnome he was first introduced to us as. Underneath all the bravado, Vegito is aggrieved on behalf of someone else. He’s being kind in the only way he knows how.
Gogeta… is not that guy. He doesn’t do rescue missions, and he doesn’t feel the need to remind you of his superiority. He portrays himself as an avenger, not a defender, with lines that evoke a sense of justice and consequence like “it’s over, I’ve come for you” and “your own bad energy will be your undoing.” He snidely tells Frieza he’s coming back for him after he’s done with Broly, even though he’s visibly incapacitated and not really picking a fight. He forgoes Vegito’s up-close and relatively simple combat style in favor of these dramatic, wide-ranging attacks, more like an act of god than a natural disaster. And while Vegito allowed Buu to play with him a bit, postponing the end of the fight to sate his own lust for battle, Broly doesn’t even get to touch Gogeta once he goes super saiyan, his dedication to the pursuit reminding you of Goku’s final battle with Frieza.
…Except Goku offered Frieza clemency, and looked genuinely disappointed when he rejected it. Gogeta does no such thing. The audience gets to watch, half in awe and half in horror, as he renders this uber-aggressive Saiyan attack dog into a flailing, incoherent mess, not bothering to stop and ask him to surrender even though the updated Broly is a much more sympathetic character than Frieza or Majin Buu ever were. He enunciates the final kamehameha with such gravitas that you actually feel scared for Broly - and in the older movie, when Janemba switches back to his original form, he takes one look at Gogeta’s glowering face and scurries away in terror.
Hey, remember how Gohan fled in fear when Goku (under extreme duress) threatened him during the fight with Frieza? After he transformed into a super saiyan for the first time, guided only by mindless rage after Frieza’s pointless killing of Krillin? During a fight which only began after Vegeta, someone who caused him immeasurable harm in the past, told him to avenge the killing of both their families & the genocide of their race? All of which took place on a planet which the earthlings only had to travel to in the first place because the Saiyans killed several of their friends - a slaughter which Goku witnessed the aftermath of, at which point he told Nappa “there will be no mercy for you, you bastard” in the original manga?
Goku gets slotted into this role quite a lot, doesn’t he. He’s a protector, but also a savior, a planner, a consoler, and an avenger. He does his best to help people and he raises hell when he can’t, but he’s not vengeful by nature. Quite the opposite. See how he treats Vegeta in the Namek saga, smiling at him and bantering with him like he’s a coworker, and not the guy who crushed his bones to dust while cackling with sadistic delight.
But that’s because Vegeta only did that much damage to him. Nappa killed all the others - with Vegeta’s eager permission, yes, but that’s still enough distance to allow Goku to psychologically seperate him from those crimes. Goku’s clemency initially emerged as a byproduct of his desire to help people, but we have seen that same drive give way to brutal punitiveness when he fails, and somebody he loves dies. You can argue that it's misdirected self-hatred, anger at his own inability to be the hero those people trusted him to be - Krillin died screaming “Goku!” you might recall. The removal from other people Goku grew up enduring feeds into his sense of responsibility for the community that grew around him as an adult. He knows how important he is, and it hurts when he comes up short.
And I think that, understanding Gogeta to be primarily led by Goku but still notably impacted by Vegeta, that intense drive towards retribution the fusion displays takes on more meaning. Vegito exemplifies Vegeta’s better impulses, which are brought out in full force by Goku’s influence - Gogeta exemplifies Goku’s ugliest inner desires, with the leash he usually keeps them on loosened by Vegeta’s influence.
Because Vegeta was knocking down 100+ sentient creatures per day as soon as he could walk. He spent most of his adult life as a pampered slave, he murdered one of his oldest companions without a second thought, his introductory panel shows him munching on a severed limb, ffs. Vegeta has been through a lot, and I'm the last person to downplay that, but he hasn’t been going through it emotionally involved. He's used to this. He had to be. If he wasn't, his whole psyche would've collapsed by age twelve tops.
But Goku? Goku had to do all of that with his feelings turned on! And he chooses to remain steadfastly good and give second chances no matter how bad the situation, and that’s a healthy enough way of dealing with all this horror. But a side effect of being guided by that choice is the knowledge that he could be worse, he could be crueler. He’s a lot like Gohan, in that sense.
And Vegeta used his dying breaths to beg Goku to abandon that long-abiding impulse to show mercy. Goku might believe in forgiveness, and he might’ve let Vegeta go because of that belief, but Vegeta is a stubborn little bastard. He thinks that it’s holding him back, allowing people to slip through the cracks; to get hurt. And we’ve established that these two are both capable of misdirecting self-anger at others, though Vegeta does it much more often than Goku.
So when Goku’s mind is merged with Vegeta’s, and he’s forced to look back on his decisions to allow horrible people to live not with pride, but with regret and disgust, it manifests as Gogeta. A walking overcorrection, the sentient reconciliation of these two belief systems. Who doesn’t forgive and doesn’t forget, self-assured and bitter and terrifying, like Goku was for the first twenty seconds after he went Super Saiyan. Like he always told himself he wouldn’t be.

Goku VS Saitama, and why Goku is the right answer
Every now and then, whether it be on Facebook or Reddit, I see memes of whether Goku or Saitama is better.
Naturally, the knee-jerk reaction is to say 'Saitama, because he's the strongest'. And yes, that is true.
But, while I was at work today, I got to think of what each character had compared to the other, and reach a conclusion: Goku's got it way better than Saitama.
Let's start with the key thing everyone focuses on: strength. Obviously, Saitama wins in that category, right? After all, his thing is that he's the strongest. But at the same time, that's a problem. Saitama is the strongest, but that leaves him plateaued (what a weird word, 'plateaued'. Someone hogged all the vowels), and with no motivation. Goku, on the other hand, only ever aims to be 'stronger', rather than 'strongest'. It's a static goal vs a progressive goal.
But then, we get into the other things Goku has that Saitama lacks: a life outside of fighting. The saying 'do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life' comes to mind, and personally, I think that saying's a load of shit, and that Saitama embodies that quite well. He became what he wanted, and look at him; he's glum. Then there's Goku, who, while loving to fight, doesn't define his whole life by it. Goku works as a farmer when he's not training or saving the world, and from DBS, we know that he's actually quite popular at the farmers markets. Fighting's what Goku loves, but it's like separating work from hobby. Because it's not his living, he enjoys it more.
Then there's the friends they keep. With Saitama, his circle of friends consists of: Genos, King, Blizzard, Fang, Mumen, and Tornado (yes, I use the English names, what about it?), and aside from maybe King, Tornado (knowledge pending), and Mumen, each of them came to Saitama because they wanted something from him, and nearly always in regards to his strength.
Then, you look at Goku. Goku has: a loving (if somewhat exasperated) wife (Chi-Chi), two great sons (Gohan and Goten), great in-laws (Ox King, Hercule, and Videl), an adoring granddaughter (Pan), a long standing group of friends (Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, Puar, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, Krillin, you get the picture) whom he's known for at least 30 years, great mentors that pass along knowledge even to this day (Roshi, Wiss, King Kai), great friendly rivals (Piccolo, Vegeta, Beerus), and a nemesis whom has a mutual grudging respect (Frieza).
Goku basically has everything Saitama wished he got from his career as a hero. And both are humble in their own ways.
TL;DR: Saitama may be stronger, but Goku's got the better life, so IMO, he wins.

ok fuck it we’re having this conversation. if you haven’t watched dragon ball but plan to, don’t read this. it’s spoilers for like, all of it
Goku’s core conflict within Dragon Ball Z specifically is his identity, or lack thereof. He thought he was just a monkey boy who likes fighting, but Raditz shows up and suddenly he’s Kakarot, an alien from a warrior species with only a few remaining survivors, and he just lost his memory of all that. this only gets worse when he fights Vegeta and realizes that he, Son Goku, was the one who killed Grandpa Gohan, by turning into an Oozaru. In the manga, when he thinks he can’t beat Vegeta’s Oozaru form, he begs for forgiveness of his failure. that Vegeta’s actions are his fault for failing to stop them.
But so much happens from there on that there’s no time for Goku to process everything, because now he has to heal up, go to Namek, and get the dragon balls to revive his friends and also piccolo. He does all that, becomes the legendary Super Saiyan (not to be confused with the Legendary Super Saiyan), and beats Frieza, but critically lets him live.
He spends a year and a half in space, training on Yardrat, and heads back to earth. only to find that he would be arriving a few hours after Frieza and his dad came to earth looking for revenge. Then he finds out that in the future androids will kill everyone he loves, because of a grudge against him specifically.
Fast forward to Cell, and Goku has been setting up his master plan for Gohan to succeed him. Bulma mentioned something that stuck with him. Something he hadn’t really had time to think about, but he can’t get it out of his head. Raditz? his fault. Vegeta? caused by Raditz so his fault. Frieza coming to earth? for revenge against him, because he let Frieza live. the androids? again, revenge against him. with every threat the earth has faced for the past 6 years, it’s been, directly or not, because of Goku’s presence and actions. So when he teleports Cell away before he can explode, he’s not doing some grand sacrifice. in his head he’s removing both of earth’s greatest threats.
Plus, Goku’s name, and his connection to Sun Wukong, whose name is spelled the same as Son Goku but pronounced differently in japanese. 悟空 (Goku/Wukong) can be split into 悟 and 空. of that, 悟 means something along the lines of “complete knowledge” or “awakening,” and 空 means “emptiness.” so Goku effectively means “complete understanding of emptiness” or as the db wiki says it “awakened to emptiness.”
Somehow, this even goes into Super, with Autonomous Ultra Instinct. it’s a state of being that requires a mind empty of thought or emotion, letting the body move without the need for conscious thought. an awakening of emptiness.
now if you’ve read the super manga, you would know that Goku doesn’t use UI as much anymore, instead opting for an emotionally-driven variant of UI -Sign-. but that doesn’t really change his classpect away from Mage of Void, it just means he probably wouldn’t become his Ultimate Self. which, considering what we’ve seen in Beyond Canon, is probably a good thing.
son goku is a mage of void but i don’t think we’re ready for that conversation

Dalliance with Destruction Chapter 2: Vegeta | Bitter I
[ Chapter 1 ] [ Chapter 2.1 ] Pairing: Goku x Female Reader (God of Destruction) x Vegeta Word Count: 3,733 AO3 Rating: Mature / 18+ Warning: ( explicit language, Choking, Manipulation, Implied/Referenced Cheating and Dubious Consent Present ) Summary: Post Resurrection F | The God of Destruction doesn't take well to Vegeta sulking over having his victory stolen by Goku.
Tumblr media
Silly mortal. Among the celebration of Frieza's defeat, it didn't surprise you one bit the self-important Prince of Saiyans still found a reason to remain distant and broody for the occasion. Even after being told Goku's last-minute interference with his fight against Frieza was necessary to save the Earth, it still left Vegeta in quite a mood. It made you wonder if he was simply upset he wasn't the one who finally defeated Frieza or how his personal grudge in those last moments allowed the space tyrant enough time to blow the Earth up to begin with. It was senseless to pitch such a fit over after everything turned out in favor of the Earth in the end. After all, Vegeta was not the only one guilty of letting things play out the way they did but now that it was over there was no merit in pouting about it. Both he and Goku made their decisions and neither succeeded in properly finishing their respective battle with Frieza. Despite Goku's end-all attack, Whis was the one to truly spare the planet Earth of its destruction and save the Prince. One should be grateful to be saved from death and even rewarded with a bountiful buffet of food for the effort of even fighting, not enthralled in a pity party over what should have been done.
Honestly, you had no reason to hone in on Vegeta with so much going on around you. Towering bowls of that delicious ice cream substance and even new assortments of food brought together by the Brief Heiress sucked you and Whis into a divine haven of flavors. However, it seemed like every time you lifted your gaze from the arrangements of food you see the earth folks around swap out in attempting to sway Vegeta to engage in the party from his lonely perch beside the pool, each companion walking off with a defeated shrug or frown to continue their celebration as he stood firm in his sulking away from the rest. Not even his useful wife succeeded who responded in kind to his standoffish temper with her own in the end. Goku only seems to make it worse when he made it his turn to sway the Prince until he eventually allowed him his space and wanders off with a stacked plate of food tucked in his arm. Vegeta was coming off a little more pompous than the mouthy, yet obedient dog you had gotten used to being trained by Whis and it was a little irritating to see. Almost souring the delicacies around you. You were certain that some of that arrogance may also be from displaying their new Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan or whatever form in battle for the first time. So you figured you would make an attempt if only to keep up the sweet flavors and the pleasant vibes of the party.
"You're overly wound up for someone whose planet was just spared from Frieza.." You announced approaching behind Vegeta, your spoon clattering around the inside of the empty ice cream dish for the last scoop. Vegeta turned at the sound of your voice and you see his expression slightly alter from his natural frown. Tensed, it would seem, from you of all people coming over to him. "I thought you of all people would relish that." You licked the last of the chilly sweetness from the spoon. "You could learn to let loose and have a little fun in your life Vegeta. Come on, why don't you do your little Bingo dance for everyone to celebrate? I'm sure they'd love to see it again." You teased, playfully swirling your spoon at him as he visibly cringed at the very notion. "I'm kidding of course, no one wants to see that. What I am curious to know is what's stopping you from enjoying the company of your family and friends. Is it so dreadful you can’t partake in good food and generous folks after a victory over your enemy?"
Vegeta's gaze quietly lingered upon yours for a moment then lowered as he turns away, withdrawn to his brood yet again. He seemed to be toiling within himself as his frown returned and his arms folded against his armored chest. As he's done with the others, he has allowed his stubbornness to answer for him. "I just don't like that Kakarot stole my victory away from me with a cheap shot, is all. Next time I'm going to make sure to finish off the opponent before that glory hog steps in again." He huffs, and yet his eyes spoke something differently. You can't see his face but you can feel the subtle, bitter energy vibrating around him that told you all you needed to know. And it was disgusting. You narrowed your eyes at him and placed the spoon back in your mouth for a moment, sucking at the remnants of flavor still on it.
"I suppose, but anything is better than all that flaunting the two of you were doing. If you just worked together from the start you could have spared yourself the grief and instead shared the victory." You added, setting down the empty dish on one of the poolside tables and placing the spoon down beside it. "Goku wouldn't have dropped his guard... and you wouldn't have allowed Frieza to destroy the Earth."
"I didn't let-!" Vegeta jerked himself around to face you ready to let loose everything he was holding in but caught himself, stuttering out only a coherent "I mean.." before he simply caved under your gaze. And like that, he made it clear to the root of his attitude. You still found it pointless to sulk over the failure. From what you’ve gathered, every able body of the planet fought back against Frieza and his henchmen and while they were not so successful they are not pitying the loss but celebrating the triumph and restoration of the Earth.
"Do not deflect the blame. You're both guilty for being so big-headed with your new forms and you know it. The least you could do is not mope about it and own up to it. Learn from it. Or have some of this deliciously sweet wine and strawberry sundae to unwind your nerves. The Earth is safe, Frieza and his entourage are dead and gone now. I'm sure Bulma will appreciate you indulging her little celebration with all this food she left over here for you. It's been a while since she has seen you as well, Vegeta." You add, picking up one of the wine-filled glasses and taking a sip.
"I'll pass." Vegeta quickly answers in a flat tone. The last thing you expected to hear a saiyan say at such a bountiful spread. It must be awfully serious for him to turn away the most delicious food in the universe. You hum at the taste of the wine on your tongue and place the emptied glass back down with a shrug.
How disappointing to hear that. . .
"Whatever, sulk yourself into a broody puddle." You answer dismissively, casually. And suddenly The Prince feels you pressed into his backside and a hand cupping his groin through the form-fitting fabric, pulling him back into you. Your other hand wraps around his throat as a gasp falls out his mouth and his body tenses up in surprise. "-But when a divine superior gives you an order, you ought to back down from your pride and heed the word." Your voice is calm as you speak to him, and yet there is a foreboding darkness to it, this firm and commanding undertone that immediately sets Vegeta on alert. "The energy you're putting off is really putting a bad taste in my mouth. I am not expecting perfection from you Vegeta, but why must you continue to be so ungrateful with my mercy? Do you enjoy being a little pissant to incur my wrath?"
Vegeta felt frozen in your grasp, your shameless touch binding him at his waist and commanding grip on his neck forcing his head back left him in an awkward and baffled stance against you. The lump in his throat bobbed behind your hand and the sensation of his pulse quickening tempted a crooked smile on your face. "Do you...want me...to punish you?" You whispered near his ear, letting your breath tickle his skin. You can feel him flinch under the implication, that day still haunts him like something out of a vivid dream locked in his gaze whenever he closes his eyes.
"I-Is it necessary to do this here of all places?" The saiyan winced, composure shaken at the placement of your hands and strength. There was always that sense racking in his mind that it was a forbidden pleasure to have your body in his arms the way he did, yet here he is in yours at your mercy once again.
“Isn’t it? I don’t recall reprimanding you coming with a time and place, but as needed.”
His instincts should tell him to struggle, but he doesn’t. Even when he reflected on that day with a cleared mind, Vegeta felt conflicted about how to process that encounter afterward. In the moment you made it seem like you held some claim upon both him and Goku now for disturbing you. What he remembers the most was how you made them vow to you and how without hesitation he agreed to be yours to use. Whenever you wanted, because from that moment on they were yours to do with as you please and you would not pose a threat to the Earth.
If it was indeed just a promise made for a day, caught up in the moment, you have never made due on your claim again. Vegeta could take the hint that you probably wouldn't want something like that being talked about in casual conversation and he certainly wouldn't be the one to bring it up, however your demeanor following your "punishment" of the two saiyans bemused them both. You acted like the raw passion between you never happened, showing nothing but disinterest towards their presence all together after. Your desire to have him and Goku all to yourself left nothing for them but finding the whole thing disorienting and exhausting.
Vegeta hated to linger on thoughts where he expected it to. He prepared himself to defy your advances no matter what he promised at a vulnerable moment. Letting himself be manipulated by the desires of another again was the last thing he would allow in his quest to surpass the Realm of Gods.
Your detached demeanor should have made it easy to leave it behind him.
But he cannot. The encounter was overwhelming for all his senses. It was exciting...hot...a fulfillment of such wild intensity unlike any he had known before guided by your imposing, shameless indulgence. He could only blame it on his natural instincts as a saiyan to falter to such a commanding presence from a strong woman. Especially one with a will as intimidating as yours. It only made more sense to him how easily he and Goku gave in to you despite your threat on the Earth. The thought of you would creep inside him, inadvertently leading the Prince to dream not only of his opposition for your awaited advances but the concede to you as well. This desire to fall at your feet and be graced by your skin under his teeth and tongue again. A thrill calling to fill all your holes with his cock knowing he had your blessing to hold nothing back if it pleased you. And a rousing hope that you would allow him that pleasure in return. Just him this time, not Goku. To have you all to himself, him catering to your need and him alone to please you with everything he's got. Vegeta could admit to his own vulgarity then, he can concede by accepting it was for you.
But the opportunity never presented itself, you never pursued them again nor did you mention it. They returned to their training with only the memory, or perhaps an apprehension of your whims. His unrequited need set in his hands like an itch he couldn't scratch off. And now you're holding him in your hands again, those frightful adept hands that stirred his body back to that familiar pull.
You can feel the shape of his length change in your grasp suddenly, the cling of his suit made all the more immodest as the shape filled in your hands and you responded with a small squeeze almost affirming the response to your touch, but your darkened tone quickly changed that as did the fall of your grin.  "Perhaps you're right to shame yourself. It's certainly not praise you deserve, nor Goku." Your voice breaks the silence between you. "You both doomed your planet with your needless showboating. For Frieza of all people? He was a dead man if you went into it with the sense to work together. You owed him nothing more than what he got. Just another brat who not once, but twice got his comeuppance at the hands of you saiyans." Your hand around his throat tightened earning a choked sound from the Prince. Vegeta could not bring himself to fight back against it, mixed in his emotions by your lower grasp. His face started to flush red and he tried to turn his head around to look your way but your grip denied him. You only churned his thoughts up more with a subtle stroke of your thumb around the crown of his cock beneath the fabric.
"I feel you do not understand how fortunate you are Whis reversed time so that you and your planet could live. And on top of that, you have the gall to brush me off because you feel sorry for your own incompetence?" Your hand tightens again earning a strangled sound, Vegeta finally grasping at your hands for relief. His energy rapidly shot up in defense, however you raised your own divine ki in a way to nullify him as not to draw the attention of the earthlings who could detect his rise of power. The fiery purple aura with hints of black enveloped you both turning even his aura dark, yet another reminder of the vast difference in power between yourself and even a Super Saiyan God. "It costs nothing to turn you back into dust." You urged near his ear again. Slowly he lowered to his knees fighting the urge to completely collapse under the weight of your power bearing down and his own body fighting for air. His mind blanked to any countermeasure he could do to free himself. Would it even work against you if he could? You followed him to his kneeled state, getting on one knee with your hands firm in their placement on his taut body. You began to smirk feeling his pride crumble with each feeble sound he could choke out. It's that yielding you wanted to see. It was what he understood if words couldn’t get the point across. There was no denying how watching someone falter under you tickled a certain aspect of yourself. Satisfied with this, your aura dissipates and your hand released his neck. A sharp intake of air escaped Vegeta as he caught his fall. "So worry about making yourself stronger later. For now, you should be celebrating with your friends and your family."
A soft pat to his back and you slowly remove your other hand from between his legs, standing back up and walking over to a nearby table. A small bowl of ice cream is taken off a tray of ice with another spoon and you come back over to him, sitting down in one of the pool chairs. A scoop of the ice cream sundae is gathered making sure to include all the toppings on it.
"Eat." You order. Vegeta looked up from his hands and knees to see the spoon full of ice cream pointed out to him. His eyes flick to you, but are brought back to the small wiggle of the spoon indicating your impatience. His lips slowly part and he leans forward to close his mouth around the serving bringing a smile to your lips pulling back a cleaned spoon. "Good, right?" You lift the spoon back into the bowl for another scoop.
"..Yes, My Lady. Thank you, My Lady." Vegeta answers swiftly, licking the remnants off his lips.
"Good boy." You praised sweetly. “You can do as you’re told. May we never have this disagreement again, Vegeta.” His eyes lowered away from you, but not to overlook the spoon coming back towards him with another helping. He could only curse himself inwardly for the lack of control he held in the matter and how his body reacted to your firm guidance, erection poorly masked in his current position. He didn’t hate the ice cream at all, it was good, though generally too sweet for his liking but he could indulge it in small doses. Or when he wasn’t given a choice. At the very least, it was soothing to his sore throat. “You are allowed to reward yourself for making a worthy effort. Look how far you have come, after all. I for one look forward to watching your power grow. In the meantime, you should spend some time with your wife who went through all this trouble. And also thank Whis for yourself.” You wink at him. Vegeta nodded in response, mouth too full to answer but perceiving your words were a command and not a suggestion. Understanding your “calm” tone strangely aroused him more.
His aura certainly became more palatable. “Ya know, I do admire your guts Vegeta. Hm.. Perhaps I could use a personal lackey to service all my whims as gracefully as you do.”
"...Why?" Vegeta finally asks, feeling bold after clearing his mouth of another spoonful of ice cream.
"Hm?"
"Why now.." He is insisting on an answer. The Prince sits on his heels eyeing his own bulge. He feels he may be reading in too much to your “lackey” comment, but he is learning to expect the unexpected with you and was sure you were offering more than someone to make your bed and serve you your meals. Your fickle temperament continued to keep him on his toes and he just had to make sense of it with what focus his cock would allow him. How is it you could hold the key to his relief from this vulgar appetite and be ready to squash him like a bug should you justify it needed?
And then you make it worse on purpose! Your subjugation is what got him in this mess to begin with. After months of nothing from you after he fucked every hole you gave him with that bastard Kakarot and suddenly you’re all over him because you hate his energy? He almost wishes Goku was around to distract your attention from him just so he could have a peaceful moment to think clearly again. Vegeta needed so badly to be free of you, your hold on him, whatever that may entail for him. .
“Oh..” You hum a thoughtful sound regarding his bulge as well, a crooked smirk rising. “You were behaving so well up until now, I didn’t think I would need to repeat myself.” As if to add insult to injury, you lift the spoon to your mouth licking it clean and placing the dip of the spoon on your tongue to suck on it a little. Braver eyes watch you, Vegeta’s brow twitching at the sight. Knowing it was just in his mouth only to go straight to yours further drove him to submit to the “curse” you rooted in their bones. “Yet here you are being such a sourpuss and ruining this delicious icy cream with your bitter aura.”
“It’s called ice cream, My Lady..” Vegeta quietly corrected.
“-How am I suppose to enjoy a nice treat with that kind of energy flooding about? If a simple matter like this must require the interference of a god such as myself, I won’t go about it with a slap on the wrist. Consider this the start of your punishment.”
You suddenly motion a finger to him and stand up, Vegeta slowly rising to stand on two feet as well. He found himself equal parts anxious and excited at the mere mention of your punishment. It could mean one of two things and at the moment he did not see himself getting destroyed again today. You hand him off his bowl of ice cream which he accepted without hesitation. You noticed some ice cream on your finger which you offered to him as well with a smirk. Vegeta looks between your gaze and the line sliding down your finger, then leans forward catching the drip with his tongue and following the trail to clean it away. Such small contact and he felt like his legs grew weak and cock grew stronger. You praised him again, your playful coo referring to him as “lackey” this time but he was strangely grateful to have that acknowledgment at the moment since you were going to personally make use of him. Not at all in the way he imagined conceding to you again but his mind fogged over with longing when his tongue touched you.
“You wish to lay with me again, Vegeta?” You outright ask and the small haze that began to settle in his dark eyes faded as they widened. He realizes his tongue is lingering and he recoils. “I admit I was less than fair last time, but I can’t deny how much I enjoyed myself with the two of you. You’ve managed to tease things out of me I have not felt in ages.”
“I-It’s not like that.” Vegeta swallowed, avoiding your eyes. A last-ditch effort to defy you? You step closer to him, closing the gap between you, your fingertips creeping on each side of his hips pulling him in. And your lips closing in to his chin. No, his lips? Your warm breath brushes over his skin and he feels his hands slowly releasing the bowl of ice cream.

6 and 7!!! i want hot takes if u got em :)
6. Which saga is your favorite?
oh god, having actual opinions on things. this is tough... the saiyan saga is super nostalgic and very interesting to look back on as this Moment where DBZ defined its own identity at a time before that identity got like, repetitive or way over the top. but the namek saga IS that toppest peak of insanity brought to its natural conclusion, with the following androids/cell saga being kinda like. not bad but weird, pacing wise, when you think about how natural the progression from raditz to frieza went.... i've never even SEEN the majin buu saga but the fact that ssj3 goku is there makes it the greatest of all time AND BUU TOO i like buu :) weird creature. the tournament of power was cool and enjoyable to watch and i liked all the characters that were designed who we'll never ever see ever again.
the best super dragonball heroes manga is the first one, demon realm mission, that tells the story of how xeno trunks and the time patrol came to be- it was NOT adapted into a full little anime arc which is BULLSHIT considering it's the greatest one and crucial background info for the entire concept... i love it and the characters it introduces so much. WAIT I FORGOT ABOUT GT the baby saga is so interesting and expansive and huge in my mind and ssj4 is awesome so there. those are some of my favorites
7. Which saga is your least favorite?
resurrection F did more damage to dragonball than literally any other super media. it embodies the absolute nosedive of derivative pandersome (not a word?) rubbish that the series shoveled out in lieu of doing anything more interesting. bringing frieza back like that was comparable to like, the 4d movie where broly shows up to kill goku and now he's GOD BROLY so you can take him seriously as a threat at this point, it's the same thing. super saiyan blue has grown on me bc it's so stupid but scrapping super saiyan god immediately was a bad move too. everything abt that arc is totally limp and purposeless. super was at its strongest when exploring new universes and their fighters, and at its weakest when bringing back stuff from Z like frieza or future trunks (altho i do like what zamasu has going on, it's just why did you have to lean on future trunks for this ? marketing)
ig my controversial thoughts on the android/cell saga make it the lowpoint of z for me?? but it has its own swagger that i can appreciate... i'm only just reading the original manga so maybe i'll come to appreciate it more. it'd also probably feel bigger if like, the majin buu saga didn't kinda shit all over the stuff it changed about the series LOL super 17 is an incredibly weird part of GT that could easily be cut all together without losing much. i appreciate the androids getting some screen time and emotions and stuff but it's so out of the blue. the worst super dragonball heroes arc is-- and im very sorry to a very special friend for saying it, but it's prison planet. literally just have a grudge with it bc it's where the ""anime"" starts and i got so tired trying to watch it at various points before reading the manga... it's been too long honestly i should reread it, i'm sure the manga version is better and more fun than i remember, i just have the anime version stuck in my brain. cumber is awesome and his power cannot be contained and all but we get More cumber later anyway, along with his whole gang... like tch... cmon

My OC Saiyan character's name is Brolimé.
Pronounced "Brawl-lim-Aye".
A lot of jokes can come from such a FINE name.
I derived it from the leafy green vegetable "Brooklime":
Tumblr media
Yeah. You put that shit in salads. It's a bitter plant that has medicinal properties...
By the way, Brolimé is a MALE Saiyan, bro!
He finds the earth cultures baffling.
He's a true Saiyan through and through.
He's a jerk with anger issues.
In fact, he's viciously malicious.
To make matters worse, he's related to Kakarrot...
Headcannon: there were some lucky Saiyans who weren't on Planet Vegeta when it met its D-Day. Bardock had relatives who likewise refused to put up with Frieza's shit and got the fuck off the planet and away a day or so before their planet was destroyed. Frieza didn't know that and the family had also cut off all links and communication with the villain.
Brolimé is a second generation cousin of Goku. He's the youngest member of his family. He's actually around Son Pan's age. He's serious by nature due to his upbringing. He is very serious when it comes to fighting and loves nothing more than a good brawl and bloodshed.
Brolimé was chosen by his grandparents to overthrow and kill Vegeta. Oh, boy. And take over whatever kingdom he is ruling. Yeeeah, they heard Prince Vegeta is still alive. Word gets around eventually. They likewise heard or learned about Vegeta's great power, his Super Saiyan form, which they learned other Saiyans can master it...
So, Brolimé goes through hell trying to become a Super Saiyan. His family is harsh toward him, especially when he fails.
Their purpose in all this is primarily for power, but also because they hated his father, King Vegeta. They hated him for their enslavement to an evil lizard alien who then later taken their planet, their people, and everything included. So, they have a grudge. The truth is, King Vegeta bannished the family from the planet, which really was a blessing in disguise. They'll admit that, too, but their hatred is strong for the royal family line. They hated likewise being dubbed 3rd class Saiyans, too.
Of course, when meeting Vegeta himself...in person...he sees that he is way beneath the Prince's power level and makes it his soul's mission to be better than the Saiyan Prince in both strength and power.
His family named him Brolimé on purpose, not to honor Broli but to confuse those in the universe.
His grandfather is Bardock's brother, who had all sons and Brolimé is the son of one of those sons. When his grandfather left Vegeta, his mate and squad left with him, having sided with him. There was two other female Saiyans with them.
Brolimé can't stand failure. He doesn't want to fail EVER and it really fucks with his head when he does.
When it comes to Goku, he has no desire to beat him... What he doesn't understand is WHY Goku hadn't taken over earth and WHY Goku is so kind hearted. When he asked Goku why, Goku told him "Because there's good people here worth saving and earth is my home." Brolimé glowered at him and asked; "Good? What manner is this? What is good about them? What is good at all?" Because Brolimé had never experienced an ounce of kindness in his life ever before coming to earth.

Recruited: Chapter 16
[Probably a little boring this time around save for the TRAUMA but hey. One step at a time. I thought about making it longer and going a little further but this felt like a natural cut off until the next big thing.
Links for the rest!  Desktop. Mobile.]
Nabooru
Four dragonballs. Four slaughters.
In no time at all, Frieza used the information passed along by the first elder to track down three more villages. Nabooru could do little more than watch and o as she was told as each one panned out the same as the first: Frieza demanded the dragonball, the Namekian elder refused, people died, they retrieved the dragonball. He rotated his generals out for what he called the honor of persuading the Namekians: Zarbon for the second, Nabooru for the third, and Dodoria once more for the fourth. The Gerudo, at least, tried to make the deaths wrought by her hands quick and clean.
At least if Frieza gathered most of the balls, it would leave less work for her and Vegeta. If she could figure out how to hinder them, get a chance to secure a single ball for herself and hide it, it would at least buy them time. The only reason they had little trouble for the moment was because they could use the scouters to seek out the villages. She considered breaking the scouters, but she couldn't get away with destroying those, either. Not without endangering her life and her people's.
Vegeta’s and Cui’s arrivals had been expected, the only surprise coming from it the spike in Vegeta’s power level that destroyed hers and Zarbon’s scouters and, to a lesser extent to her, his disposal of Cui within seconds. She did not share Zarbon’s or Dodoria’s concern over him surpassing them and in turn herself; she had come to terms with the fact that she may well die on Namek by Vegeta’s hands, anyway. Mercy and understanding had never been his style. Holding a grudge, no matter how petty or misplaced, was.
However, two scouts presumably perished while investigating another pair of power levels that appeared and disappeared shortly after the scouts stopped transmitting. While Nabooru doubted the Earthlings Nappa and Vegeta faced were the only ones in the universe that could fluctuate and suppress their power levels at will like that, the timing seemed a little uncanny. Had the Earthlings come along with Vegeta as the others suspected? Had they come on their own? Or were they an entirely different entity all together, threatening to complicate her plans further?
Their arrival at the fifth village differed in that it appeared deserted, but Nabooru sensed a few power levels in one of the houses. Scouts confirmed that only five remained in the village and forced them from their abode to stand before them: three elder adults and two children. Dodoria’s scouter picked up a pair of blips  in the cliffs that disappeared immediately. While he and the others dismissed them for local fauna, Nabooru stared after them a few moments longer. Had Frieza not begun his spiel with the village elder, she considered asking permission to investigate for the sake of curiosity and to avoid murdering them for the ball.
Another refusal and Nabooru balled her hands into fists at her sides. As per the formula, Frieza ordered for a demonstration of their power of persuasion, though this time, he ordered Zarbon to take care of them. A kick for the first adult and a blast in return for the second adult’s attempt at retaliation, reducing him to ash.
Until Frieza threatened the children, hand rising in menacing threat, did the elder begin to cave, swearing to tell them anything they wanted to know. Her senses caught the flare of ki again from the same direction moments before Dodoria’s scouter, serving as a distraction from the task at hand. Then, a trio of readings from the opposite direction followed, these flying toward them at a rapid rate. Three Namekians landed before them, younger and apparently more physically fit than many of the others they encountered. Dodoria read their power levels off as 1000 apiece, but learning from her former cohorts’ adventures on Earth with the Namekian that resided there, she didn’t write them off so quickly.
The foot soldiers, bolstered by the low readings, charged the Namekians. These were unquestionably warriors, their power rising in the throes of combat. As such, the trio had no trouble dispatching the attacking squadron, soldier after soldier falling to their underestimated might. Nabooru inwardly cheered for their success, though she knew it was short lived. They didn't stand a chance against Zarbon or Dodoria if this was the height of their strength.
"Nabooru, why don't you take these three?" Frieza suggested. "You enjoy a good fight, yes? Use those ki swords I've heard so much about. I could use a good show."
Her gaze shifted to the trio of warriors. Warriors, a miniscule comfort in the face of more death on her hands. More lives taken for standing up for themselves. Is this how it would have been for her people if Frieza's soldiers never arrived and they chose to fight a war they could not win?
Nabooru bowed her head. "Gladly, Lord Frieza."
With a warning from their elder, the three warriors lunged at her the moment she stepped forward and faced them. She dodged aggressive and quick punches and kicks, the warrior in her yearning to fight them properly in a true spar under friendlier circumstances. Their skill shone and put her firmly on the defensive despite her own speed and strength. Their determination to defeat her was admirable but, as had the courage of the elders, it made her heart ache to know they fought a losing battle to the most vicious and merciless tyrant in the universe.
Nabooru caught the swing of one of their legs and swung him into the other two with enough force to send them sailing away from her and allowing her to regain the offensive. She kept hold of the first's leg and raised her hand. Orange ki shot from her palm and obliterated him. The other two regained their footing and charged once more. Fingers curled into her palms and orange light materialized into a pair of curved blades of energy. In two swift arcs, one vertical and the other horizontal, the swords sliced through the Namekians and halted their forward momentum. The blades sank back into her hands and, to spare herself, the elder, and the children the horrific sight of the warriors bleeding and falling to literal pieces, she cremated them with another blast.
She swallowed the lump in her throat and blinked hard before returning to her post with the others. She avoided the gaze of the children and elder, knowing she would only find anger, terror, and hopelessness there. Only when the elder took to the air did she dare look at him directly. To see the beam headed straight for them. For Dodoria. His scouter exploded in a spread of shattered glass and plastic shrapnel. Several other beams followed, fired at rapid speed and resulting in miniature explosions. It took several seconds, but it finally dawned on her. The elder had done what she wished she could have to hinder their progress. He wasn't looking to kill with those shots. He was aiming for the scouters specifically.
She didn't have to look over at Freiza. She felt his irritation surge from him with the realization they lost their only way to track down the villages and their dragonballs. Brief but chilling. The elder returned to the ground in triumph. "Nabooru," Frieza said, nodding to the pair of children clinging to each other for dear life. For a moment, she saw not Namekian children, but two young Gerudo. "Punish him."
She didn't have to ask what he meant, how he meant her to do it. As she raised her hand, she willed the kids to run, fly away if they could. Anything to allow her the excuse of missing. Orange ki materialized in her palm and they did run, but their panic or lack of experience urged them in a straight line. She fired the blast, hitting the one dressed in yellow squarely in the back. Her hand fell limp at her side and she watched the other child shake the limp body. Tears streamed down his face.
The elder finally caved. He disappeared into one of the houses and returned with the dragonball. He handed it over to one of the remaining soldiers. "There. Take it." His gaze drifted between each of them, hatred burning hotter in his eyes as it rested on the Gerudo. "Take your leave now.."
"So bold thinking you can give me orders." Frieza chuckled. "Before we leave you to bury your dead, could you point us in the direction of the next village? You destroyed our scouters and only means for locating them."
The elder growled. "Never! I gave you what you came here for! I refuse to endanger my brothers!"
"Have it your way." He nodded to Dodoria. "Finish the job."
The general grinned maliciously. He shot behind the elder and gripped his head. With a sickening crack, he snapped the elder's neck, leaving only the second child alive. The last of his village, his family. Dodoria turned on him, and Nabooru could only imagine the torments the vicious warrior thought up for the kid. He loomed over the child, but another surge of energy from the cliffs caught her attention. A blur slammed into Dodoria and he crashed through the nearest house. A second kicked him back down and scooped up the child. She caught a glimpse of them before they took off: a young boy with dark hair and a bad haircut and a bald man in orange.
Dodoria pulled himself from the rubble, cursing loudly. "Dodoria!" His head snapped over to Frieza, the fear in his eyes palpable in the wake of Frieza's scolding. "Do you plan to let them make a fool of you and escape? Get your ass moving!"
Dodoria bumbled around an apology and took off after the interlopers. Several beats of intense silence passed before Zarbon broke it. "My lord, I need not point it out to you I'm sure, but without our scouters, we are blind and directionless. What do you suggest we do next?"
"We regroup at the ship." He clicked his tongue, and his hovercraft drifted higher into the air. "I suppose we'll have to do this the old fashioned way and send out scouts to search the planet for them. For the trouble, we will instruct them to ensure no Namekian survives."
Frieza wasted no time awaiting a response and took to the sky, heading back toward the ship. Nabooru and Zarbon followed suit, the former scooping up the abandoned dragonballs. She cast the focus of her senses in the direction the strangers and Dodoria had flown, finding that Dodoria had caught up to the pair and Namekian child. She then searched for Vegeta again, and sensed his energy darting toward another cluster of signatures. Another village. If he knew what they did, she had no doubt he would show as little mercy as Frieza in retrieving the ball, another village of innocents murdered.
Once they dealt with Frieza, she hoped to find a way to undo all this carnage. If she got the chance to.

[What is your favorite headcanon you have about one or all of your muses?]
Ooooo boy this is gonna be a fun one!! Kinda long too, so please bear with me haha
Raditz: Raditz, contrary to his built up false bravado, is a big baby. I mean, huuuge baby. He’s not too great at expressing his feelings, blame his time on the Frieza force for that, but when he does get comfortable enough to let his guard down, absolutely baby. He’s also got a huge soft spot for kids.
Goku: Goku is actually relatively smart. Maybe not a genius, but he’s definitely not stupid. His carefree demeanor is simply his way of dealing with the world, he’d rather not be angry or stressed about everything, so he just doesn’t focus in on negative aspects. He’s carefree and a sweetheart, but he absolutely will be serious when it comes to someone threatening his friends, and this includes when his friends are a threat to themselves (think Vegeta purposely letting himself take unnecessary hits during spars, that type deal). He’s also a little shit who gets away with murder because no one ever suspects it, can and will pull harmless pranks at every opportunity 😂
Vegeta: Bit more on the serious side as far as HCs go, but Vegeta absolutely has his fair amount of issues. In spite of his not showing it, trying not to anyway, his time under Frieza left a lot more scars than just the ones he bares on his skin. His anger is his means of coping, can’t get hurt if you never let anyone in. Only exception to this rule, though he’ll never say it, are Goku and Bulma. He trusts Goku a great deal, with his life, and even if he will never say it to the other’s face respects his strength. Also has a soft spot for Goku’s shenanigans, and is one of the main reasons he gets away with said shenanigans.
Bardock: Bardock might be cold at first, but he does care quite a bit, especially where his family is involved. He enjoyed his time on the purge team to an extent, least the release of tension it provided him as far as emotions went. He was angry, same as most all the saiyans were, at having to keep his head down and follow orders of the Colds, but more so under Frieza considering his tighter grip. Does not like the royal family either, particularly large grudge against the royal house and its subsequent supporting elites.

*waves* Hi, I'm Silver. I want to write Yamcha more accurately (he seems really nice?), but I haven't the time or money to buy the manga or episodes, so... any tips, I guess? Can you help me? Thank you 🌻💜
hiya !! i’m always happy to talk about yamcha and The Character Of yamcha :) gonna put my thoughts under a read more cause this Might be long:
I havent watched Z or Super in a while but I do watch and read through the original Dragon Ball often so accuracy May Vary due to my trash memory. I’m also going to try to keep the games’ depictions of him out of this since accuracy varies among those.
The first thing I wanna touch on is Yamcha’s ego- especially how it evolves over the series. The main thing to keep in mind is that while he is generally cocky about his fighting abilities (which is a major weakness of his as he underestimates his opponents often and gets in trouble because of that), he’s never overly confidant with himself as a person; he seldom tries to paint himself as a better person in comparison to others and rather keeps realistic skepticism about himself. It’s also worth noting that, depending on how old Yamcha is in your depiction, his awareness for his fighting inadequacy compared to his friends varies (the older he is obviously the more conscious he is).
Next thing I’ma talk bout is something that i see kind of treated inconsistently; Yamcha’s relationship with women and his love life. I feel like a lot of people forget that Yamcha’s defining character trait in Dragon Ball was his gynophobia- he chased Goku and his friends so long for the dragon balls so he could remedy his fear of women. Of course, he eventually does date Bulma as they realize dating each other would resolve their mutual wishes for Shenron (Bulma’s being getting a boyfriend and as mentioned before Yamcha’s fear of women). As we’re all aware though, nearly a decade later Yamcha and Bulma mysteriously separate, and the reason for doing so is never explicitly made clear in canon (I could honestly make a whole separate post on Bulma and Yamcha’s break up- there’s a lot to discuss with it so if anyone wants that let me know lmao). The majority believe that Yamcha was unfaithful which, in review of his whole character, makes literally no sense- even just subtracting his fear of women (though I’ll elaborate on that later). But back on track and in regards to his fear of women, it never fully goes away. It just so happens that he’s most comfortable around Bulma, and since Bulma’s the most prominent female character of the series we tend to forget his fear in the first place. When around other female characters, he’s subtlety more anxious- or at the very least he isn’t so much of a playboy as fanon interprets him to be. One final thing to note is- unless I remember the series wrong (and anyone’s free to correct me on this)- Yamcha’s never implied to have gotten another girlfriend or even a lover at any point. Of course it’s hard to track the intricacies of Yamcha’s life- this is a shonen anime where slice-of-life episodes are limited, and even then Yamcha is far from being a prominent character anymore (post Dragon Ball).
Up next is his loyalty/friendships, methods of handling conflict, and overall courage because in my rat brain these all go hand in hand. Nevertheless, Yamcha’s a devoted friend- he’s shown time and time again to be supportive of his pals and, even in spite of his shortcomings, always does his best to help the gang out. Like i touched on before, as Yamcha gets older, he’s more and more aware just how far behind in training he is in compared to his peers. But that doesn’t stop him from trying to fight off whatever threat’s present. So with that we can infer that even if Yamcha can’t be the absolute best, that’s not going to stop him from at least trying if it means helping his friends or making them feel better. Additionally, he’s quick to stand up for others, even if he doesn’t know them too well or even at all and he’s shown not to hold onto grudges. One thing to remember is that, presumably for 16 years, Yamcha’s only companion was Puar (that’s not even considering his life before meeting her) and most interactions he has with people involve robbing them. His social skills might not be the best (though that doesn’t mean he can’t act socially capable- he clearly has no issue trying to make Beerus feel comfortable and like a friend at Bulma’s party) but again, his social skills varies with age and the situation. But again, referring back to his readiness to defend others, he isn’t afraid of getting into conflict if it means helping someone else.
Last few topics I’m going to talk about are his relationships with property, finances, and goals- they seem like a small topics but I still want to talk about it. Now hopefully we’re all familiar with Yamcha’s beginnings of being a desert bandit- and seeing his methods of obtaining items, he didn’t try to charm his victims into giving him their stuff. He just took it if he could if he couldn’t intimidate them and retreated if he couldn’t get what he wanted (which is also noteworthy of Yamcha’s awareness of his limits- a bit contradictory to his fighting ego but it seems that if Yamcha’s certain he isn’t able to win something, then he’ll save himself if it means delaying a goal or staying alive). He doesn’t seem to mind playing the long game either, as he’s willing to tail Goku and co. for months as he waits for them to gather the dragon balls without ever letting his true intentions slip. When it comes to finances, Yamcha doesn’t seem to care to heavily about them: back in the desert, Puar mentions to Yamcha that he should wish for money to which Yamcha dismisses it quickly, stating he could just steal money if he really needed it. It’s also worth noting that despite being a successful baseball player by Super, Yamcha chooses to live in a modest apartment. Either he’s very paranoid with money and, despite having enough to buy a full house, chooses to live in a cheaper apartment building or he’s more comfortable with smaller living spaces- which makes sense since he’d lived nearly two decades in a desert cave and had to scavenge for supplies (plus he seems to still think fondly of the desert as he has a painting of such in his apartment).
For the TL;DR version of this post, here’s essentially what you should keep in mind when portraying yamcha:
He’s generally a very lax, simple, and sociable person when he wants to be- though a bit socially awkward when he isn’t prepared
He’s not egotistical, but he has a bad habit of underestimating his enemies at times. this changes over time of course.
While he’s not itching for conflict, he is loyal and quick to stand up for friends and strangers alike
He acknowledges he isn’t the best, but that doesn’t stop him from trying
He’s ambitious and seldom gives up on his goals
He cares little for huge amounts of wealth or property and generally is just trying to get by in life comfortably
While not cripplingly petrified of women post DB, he still maintains a mild anxiety around women he doesn’t know- even around women he does know pardon Bulma he’s still a bit on edge
I’m done with my character study using the anime and manga, but I like talking about Yamcha so below this little buffer I’m going to get into how the games portray him. I might’ve forgot something or got some things wrong so feel free to talk to me about that if you want to. Anyways, you can stop reading if the above is all you’re concerned with- regardless if you keep reading or not, I wish you the best of luck in writing Yamcha ! :)
If you’re still reading, join me in my continuous ramble of the Rubix cube of Yamcha’s character because Toei and Toriyama can’t be consistent.
Something that seems to be portrayed a significant amount is that Yamcha’s aware of his charm and that he uses this to advantage to smooth talk his way out of situations- not that he just so happens to be good looking and endearing and his panicked socialization just happens to work out for him. In regards to his way of talking out of situations, that’s honestly something I could see if Yamcha acknowledges he’s against a threat much greater than his fighting abilities will allow him to handle- and it’s not like he doesn’t consider himself attractive, if we’re to take his reaction to losing his tooth as anything (in case you aren’t aware, he curses Goku for ruining his “beautiful” face). An example of this is most prominent is his interaction with Frieza in FighterZ, where Frieza remarks that Yamcha is both “handsome and sensible”, to which Yamcha attempts to keep the conversation casual so as to not have to fight (which he later points out to Goku once the latter urges that the three of them should just start fighting already). Though I’m sure his first reaction isn’t to talk his way out of something- he’ll just do it if the opportunity presents itself.
I obviously take huge issue with Yamcha’s portrayal of being a womanizer- his major goal was to settle down, get married, and live out the rest of his life with someone. So for him to be portrayed as having to juggle girlfriends is a bit strange to say the least. You could maybe argue that Yamcha hypes himself up to be a lady’s man as a way to cope with his anxiety (fake it til you make it y’know) but I have little faith in the characterization in Dragon Ball games and for them to think that complexly- plus, again, it contradicts with his humble and awkward personality.
Aside from these two notes, that’s all I have to say. so I’m done- forreal this time.

Dragon Ball Z 229
Tumblr media
Last time, Vegeta blew a hole in the Budokai stadium!
Tumblr media
What do you have to say for yourself, Vegeta?    “I’m a baaaaaad wittle boy.”
Tumblr media
The crowd flees the arena, and even 18 is disturbed by Vegeta’s actions.    She says she’s never sensed a ki like this before, wait, since when could 18 sense ki signatures?     She couldn’t do that before.
Tumblr media
Babidi, on the other hand, is thrilled, because 200 people were killed.   Wait, why should that matter to him?  That doesn’t help him reach his goal, unless he just enjoys innocent people dying on sheer principle.   Babidi’s a terrific villain.   He’s kind of underappreciated, really.  The ranking should be 1) Cell, 2) Vegeta, 3) Buu, 4) Babidi, 5) Frieza.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The crowd pleads for Mr. Satan to save them from this tiny golden monster in their midst, so he steels himself and tries to get tough, but then he backs down and asks them nicely to settle down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vegeta ignores Mr. Satan completely, and tells Goku to fight him, unless he wants more people to get killed.    At this, Goku suddenly realizes that Vegeta might have let himself get mind-controlled, just so he could make an ultimatum like this.
Tumblr media
Vegeta’s only response is to shoot another part of the stadium.   This isn’t a bluff, and it’s not a negotiation.    If Goku won’t fight, then Vegeta will keep killing people until he does.
Tumblr media
And you can tell that this pisses Goku off.    Yeah, he wanted to fight Vegeta too, but not like this.
Tumblr media
Gohan tries to intercede, but Vegeta just shrugs him off.    He’s not listening to anyone except “fighting with Goku.”
Tumblr media
So Goku turns Super Saiyan, and it looks like they’re going to throw down right here and now.
Tumblr media
Vegeta basically admits to doing all of this on purpose.    If Goku’s so intent on saving the world from Babidi during his one day back on Earth, then the only way Vegeta can get his undivided attention is to join Babidi’s team.   Right now, the only way to stop Babidi is to go through Vegeta.   Literally.
Tumblr media
Here’s what makes this so awesome.    I feel kind of goofy even explaining this, because it feels self-evident to me, but maybe there’s someone reading this who hasn’t watched DBZ before.   In which case, dude.    This is the stupidest possible way to experience DBZ for the first time.    Just watch the show and come back later.    This liveblog will still be here.    Unless Wordpress shuts this site down.
Where was I?  Oh, right.   So what makes this work is that the Supreme Kai is absolutely right to call Vegeta’s stunt foolish.... but.   But!  Anyone who’s watched the entire series up to this point gets it.    As horrible as it may sound, on some level, we wanted Vegeta to do something stupid like this, to piss Goku off, to really get him riled up, so that they would finally have their big rematch.
I remember when Goku first turned Super Saiyan.    For a while there, they had all this Super Saiyan Goku merch, and Vegeta looked so ordinary in his regular non-Super Saiyan form.    I thought it made sense for Goku to have this epic ascension, but it seemed like a waste that Vegeta would never be able to match it.   How could their rivalry continue like this?    They could never fight each other again, because Goku was so far ahead of him that it would have been pointless.
Then Vegeta turned Super Saiyan, and it looked like they could finally settle things, just as soon as they got all those damn dirty androids out of the picture.  Only by the time that finally happened, Goku was out of the picture too.    Now the rivalry was truly impossible, because they would never see each other again.
Then Goku comes back, for one day only, and it looks like we finally have this narrow window for Goku and Vegeta to fight.  They even got paired off in the tournament bracket.   First round, so there was no chance of Goku getting disqualified against Mr. Satan in some unlikely hijinks.    The fight can finally happen.   Goku vs. Vegeta, they’re both Super Saiyans or Super Saiyan 2′s or whatever, even steven, let’s see who comes out on top.
Tumblr media
But now, here comes Babidi and the Supreme Kai, with all this Majin Buu bullshit, and Vegeta has to wait inside a spaceship for like an hour.   And both sides of this conflict are idiots.   The Supreme Kai has no idea who he’s dealing with.    He didn’t know what Super Saiyans could do, he didn’t know Dabura and Yakon were on Babidi’s team, and his sidekick Kibito was the first one to die.    The whole thing was dumb and quite frankly not nearly as awesome as Goku and Vegeta punching each other.
Tumblr media
And let’s face it, after all these years, Vegeta’s still mad that Goku overpowered him way back in Episode 30 or whatever it was.   Since then, Goku’s saved his life, first from Krillin, then from Recoome.    Why, it’s gotten him so riled up just thinking about it that his face is all twisty.    What the hell...?
Tumblr media
Is it stupid?   Yeah, it is.  Like I said, the Supreme Kai is right.    This is absolutely ridiculous.    Vegeta’s risking the fate of the universe so he can settle a petty grudge.   No one thinks this is worth it.    No one gives a shit whether this sawed-off asshole gets his do-over.   Well, I mean, the audience probably does.   I know I always did.  What I’m saying is that no one in-universe ever cared about this guy getting to avenge his pride.
But Vegeta cares, and the fact that he’s the only one who cares is probably why he’s so desperate and upset about making this happen.
I think this is what makes the character so appealing to people.    In spite of all the shitty things he does, people can relate to Vegeta’s passion and to the sheer loneliness of that passion.    We all have things we alone care about that other people dismiss as meaningless or unimportant.     What’s the big deal?   It’s just a TV show.   It’s just a drawing.    It’s just a story you wrote.    It’s not that important.   Meaningless, really.    Let’s go back to what’s really important, which is making Gohan feel better about whizzing that fight with Dabura, or congratulating Mr. Satan for his championship victory.   What a kooky character he is!
I think we’ve all been there before.   I’m not saying we’ve killed 200 people to make the point, but we’ve been in situations where everyone laughed it off and dismissed how we felt because “what’s the big deal anyway?”   And that’s one reason Vegeta leaves a lasting impression with people, because he’s powerful enough that he can make people understand why it’s a big deal to him.
Tumblr media
Against all of this, all Goku can say in response is to call out to Babidi.   He demands to be teleported someplace where there’s no bystanders.    Some place, like... I don’t know... Goku Town.
Tumblr media
We did do it, Babidi.    This is awesome.   Good job, everyone.
Tumblr media
Then the Supreme Kai gets in between these two, and he’s all “No!  This fight is too metal.    I can’t allow it!   If you’re going to fight Vegeta, you’ll have to fight me first!”
Tumblr media
And Goku’s like “Sir, that was a very metal thing you just did, but please, get out of the way before I kill you.”
Tumblr media
The Kai is stunned.    Goku’s not bluffing here.   He will kill the Supreme Kai right here and now, if that’s what it takes.
Tumblr media
But the most awesome part is Vegeta’s reaction.    He looks just as surprised to see how determined Goku is to settle this.    He’s been so focused on getting this battle that he forgot who he was dealing with.
Tumblr media
Defeated, the Supreme Kai stands down.    He did a brave thing, stepping into Goku Town, but he knows he can’t pay the rent.
Tumblr media
Man, this episode rules.   The Surpeme Kai is just so... despondent.  He’s completely lost control of the situation.
Tumblr media
And Babidi’s convinced that he’s won.   Once Vegeta and Goku start fighting, it’ll only be a matter of time before Vegeta inflicts enough damage to transfer the energy needed to revive Majin Buu.   And nothing can stop that fight from happening.    Everything’s coming up Milhouse Babidi.
Tumblr media
So he grants Goku’s request and teleports them away.   Mr. Satan is relieved, because this means he can claim they ran away before he could unleash his righteous fury.
Tumblr media
So, I think this is the Giskard Wasteland, but I’m not up on my Dragon World Geography.   This may even be the same setting as the original Goku/Vegeta fight, but I don’t feel like looking it up.
From here, the Supreme Kai bows to the inevitable, and accepts that Goku and Vegeta will fight.    All he can do now is force open the hatch to Stage 4, so he and Gohan can proceed down Babidi’s ship and stop him before Majin Buu can be revived.   Of course, that means he’ll have to risk jolting Babidi’s ship, which could accidentally break Buu’s seal prematurely, but at this point he has to risk it.
Note that this is precisely what Vegeta wanted to do at the start of the last episode.  If the Kai had gone along with it then, he would be in the exact same predicament he’s in now, except he’d have three Super Saiyans backing him up instead of just one, and he wouldn’t have the ticking clock to worry about.
Tumblr media
But Babidi has no intention of allowing the Supreme Kai to leave Stage 3 so soon, and he orders Vegeta to kill him and Gohan before they can carry out this plan.
Tumblr media
But Vegeta refuses, insisting that he doesn’t care what Shin and Gohan do, so long as it doesn’t get in the way of his objective, which is to kick Goku’s ass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Babidi has some sort of leverage here, as it seems to cause Vegeta physical pain to resist him like this, but he remains steadfast.    Babidi might control him body and soul, but Vegeta still has his pride, which must be satisfied before he’d ever consider anything else.
Tumblr media
Babidi is astonished, as this has never happened before.    It begs the question of whether Babidi could ever truly control Vegeta.    Maybe if he defeated Goku in battle, Vegeta might become more pliable.   Or, perhaps beating Goku is the only thing keeping Vegeta and Babidi on the same side.
Tumblr media
But Dabura convinces Babidi that they’re better off letting Geets and the Supreme Kai have their way.    If Vegeta’s so determined to fight Goku, let him, because that’s good for Buu.    And they might as well let the Kai and Gohan out of Stage 3, so they won’t accidentally break Buu’s seal early.    It’s not like they can win on their own, since they’ll have to go through Dabura.
Tumblr media
So Babidi opens the hatch, but before Gohan goes through, Goku gives him a senzu bean, because he remembered he still had some from when he got them for Gohan’s girlfriend.   I like how Goku just casually says that, when the situation is too tense for Gohan to object.    “Hey, son, before we start our epic laser battles, I just remembered that thing I got for that girl you’re in love with!”
Tumblr media
Then he gives him one last piece of advice: Get angry, like he did when he fought Cell.   Goku seems convinced that if Gohan is furious enough, it’ll make up for his ring rust.
Tumblr media
Gohan takes minute to lament that Goku’s one day back in the living world ended up this way.    It is kind of sad.   Gohan just wanted to hang out with his dad, and all of this crap happens.    It’d be kind of funny if Babidi controlled Gohan’s mind, and he blew up the stadium demanding a hug.
Tumblr media
So they leave, and now it’s just Goku and Vegeta.    Goku’s like “Fuck this, I can’t take any damage in this fight, so I’m gonna go balls to the wall, right now.”    Well, that’s not his exact wording, but you get the idea.
Tumblr media
So Goku turns Super Saiyan 2!    Good job, Orange Brick DVDs.    It’s worth cropping Goku’s head so we can see all that stuff on the sides.
Tumblr media
Of course, no one calls it Super Saiyan 2, because he term hasn’t been coined yet.    Vegeta just notes that Goku is stronger than Gohan was when he fought Cell, so you get the idea.
Tumblr media
So then Vegeta powers up and now he’s a Super Saiyan 2, too!
Tumblr media
When I first watched this arc, I honestly didn’t get that “Ascended Super Saiyan” was meant to be a distinct form, because it looks virtually indistinguishable from the original Super Saiyan.   I learned to tell the difference eventually, mostly thanks to the video games, which allow you to compare the models before and after, but in this leg of the anime, it’s just about impossible.   I think the animators had trouble keeping this straight.
Tumblr media
The main feature I picked up on is that Goku’s SSJ2 form has beadier eyes, at least initially, and more of his bangs stick up.    With Vegeta, I don’t even get that much to work with.   His hair looks a little more “knife-y”, but that’s about it.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Goku realizes that this will take a lot longer than he planned.
Tumblr media
And this is it.    Goku-Vegeta II.   The fight we’ve all been waiting for, but at what cost?

Verses (Mobile Version)
General setting::
Taiko lives in an quiet urban neighborhood on the outskirts of West City; oftentimes they work from early in the morning to the late hours of the afternoon four days a week.
It’s been several years since the day that Kika, while on her deathbed, asked to be merged with Taiko by the Namekian technique, which had physically altered the alien’s body to be somewhat more slender (perhaps even as close to feminine as a Namekian could be considered; a result that would also bring about the use of switching pronouns of he, she and they without qualm). Taiko had since then ran the pavilion by themself, carrying on the profession that was now solely their own to anyone that would ask of the seer’s powers.
They’ve survived many incidents since coming to live on Earth; when the population was under attack at various points in time, there was a cellar under the house that Kika implemented earlier on before even meeting Taiko. Perhaps the only reason none came for them underground was due to the weakened ki they possessed, which was only further suppressed. The ki situation had been a mystery up until recently, and with the parasite that had been feeding off of them for years finally released, they had regained the full use of their ki and abilities.
{.verse.}.A.Seer’s.Life
It’s been roughly eighteen years since the day that Taiko decided to live on Earth and been the apprentice of Seer Kika; while many events had transpired, including taking over as the sole Seer of the West City, the Namekian hardly felt the change of years, continuing on with their profession as well as simply living life. Things have hardly changed, except for one instance of when the unknown parasite (named Shami by Taiko afterwards) had detached from his host. Shortly after his cocoon phase, he would be taken in by the very host he had nearly killed. Now Taiko had a constant companion that they sort of come to regard as a son.
During this verse, Paragus continues to live outside of civilization; he hunts for his food, dressed in warm furs from hunts, more or less taking stake of territory far in the cold northern region of Earth. He had been partially crippled in thanks to Frieza’s near-miss death beam, ever slightly hunched forward (especially in the left side of the upper torso, where the serious wound had scarred over).
{.verse.}.Starting.Over
Story Beginning [ Part 1 ] || [ Part 2 in progress ]
With the mysterious infliction on their body gone without a real explanation, feeling far stronger and even about as strong as they were back on Namek, Taiko had come to start making wide travels around on Earth. In one such instance, this would be the time that they came across a figure that was greatly ill, a man with gray hair and a tail, with one eye permanently closed with a scar over it. Despite his protests at a few points that he was able to talk at all, he was taken back to the Namekian’s home in West City. They’d learn that his name is Paragus, a Saiyan that held deep grudges but unable to do anything with them.
After nearly two week of taking care of him, it was to the seer’s delight that he was finally in the process of recovering, a fact that didn’t escape the Saiyan’s notice. If it hadn’t been for the overly-friendly Namekian, he would have died to the illness… even though he would have given himself over to death rather than struggle if he was still on his own. While he remains suspicious of Taiko’s motives, he would grudgingly accept the proposal to remain in their home as a permanent houseguest - whether he had wanted to be saved or not, he owed his life to this strange seer, a debt that he would want to fulfill in some manner.
{.verse.}.Forced.Employment
Story Beginning [ Part 1 ] || [ Part 2 ]
During the seer’s wanderings on Earth now that the strange infliction had passed that allowed them to regain their previous strength, they were ambushed by scouts sent by Frieza, who were tasked to try and find the dragon balls but thus far had no such luck. Taken back to Frieza despite Taiko’s attempt to escape, the emperor nearly dismissed the strange Namekian after discovering that they wouldn’t know the location of the dragons balls and would have killed them until he learned of their prowess of seering into the future. In fact, was capable of seeing multiple futures. Intrigued by the notion of seering ever since witnessing Fortuneteller Baba’s powers had shown that such abilities were possible, he would have Taiko prove it was real, with the notion that afterwards they would be spared.
Once Taiko reluctantly agreed to the terms, Frieza would task the Namekian to seer into the future with the notion of whether keeping the seer alive would be worth any investment. One future revealed that the seer would alert someone at Capsule Corporation as soon as they were released which thus would thwart the Icejin’s plans to use the dragon balls, another that would end in Taiko’s death and nothing comes of it afterwards for Frieza in a negative manner, but the third would tell that not only keeping Taiko would be beneficial, it could greatly enhance the emperor’s conquest of the universe. And here was when Taiko was forcibly recruited into the Frieza Force, under the threat of if they make an attempt to lie or to escape, their mistakes would cause someone else’s death.
{.verse.}.Time.Anomaly.{.Xenoverse.}
Basics;
Taiko was asked to come to Conton City for their seering ability after an time anomaly had jerked them out of their timeline. They've agreed, and also decided to run an item shop, selling enchanted items that are created and granted certain abilities or protection (all done by another member of Conton City that is reclusive; Taiko knew the person before she became the recluse she is now).
Frieza had lost his empire due to an unseen cataclysm; as he was contemplating how best to start over, Trunks had approached him and proposed to the emperor to become a mentor to the Time Patrol. At first, the Icejin didn't much care for the idea, but as he'd then be reminded, he had nothing. So now he resides in Conton City as well, though his initiation test often keeps possible students at bay, only willing to train the resolute ones who can handle the training.
Paragus was never meant to survive the blast done to him by Frieza; his death was meant to unlock Broly's Super Saiyan power. And while it had still been accomplished, he was an unusual case. Surviving in the wilds of Earth, he was eventually tracked down and invited to Conton City to be a mentor, since it would be wrong to 'fix' the issue by killing him. And besides which, he was still a good teacher. Once healed up and even healed of most old injuries, he reluctantly became one of the many mentors.
Orachi was invited to become a Time Patrol years after coming to New Namek; his power level was steadily growing, and he had a strong sense of justice - which was born from a great mistake, one that he would wish to never repeat. Agreeing after being promised that he could still keep growing stronger, perhaps even more so, he would go to Conton City. However, after a particularly strong reaction with an Icejin, he would first have to attend the Academy, to better understand the races as well as other things that would better benefit him to learn. But it won't be long for him to join the ranks of Time Patrol, so long as he can learn the important lesson about how one being didn't represent all the rest of the race.

Some Gelato basic info, kinda.
Once again, like with the Veal info update I don’t actually have new pics (heheh yay depression and autistic emotional energy burn-out), but I wanted to make an info update anyway.
Race and gender: Gelato is a member of Frieza’s race, and I just kinda go with Frieza’s race sorta being their own thing as far as gender goes. I ain’t gonna gatekeep what people prefer as their headcanon or what their OCs are. There can be male members, female members, members with both parts, or members that might have one part but different identities… they’re aliens, so, whatever, y’know? Gelato himself does go by he, though he wouldn’t really care if someone referred to him as female. He also has both male and female organs.
General size: He’s not tiny, but he’s definitely not a particularly large fellow. He’s only slightly taller than Frieza. His size has never really bothered him, though he did feel awkward sometimes growing up on the planet Suringa for many reasons, one being he was always a bit bigger than children his age.
Personality, temperament, etc:
-Despite his want to grow in strength, and his ability to enjoy fighting, he’s not aggressive, and in fact, quite gentle. There is a part of him that can be timid and uncertain when it comes to dealing with people, but at heart he is quite friendly. While he does have a sassy side… perhaps related to the fact that he can be quite playful and energetic when comfortable… he likes to keep a certain level of politeness, unless someone directly attacks him or someone he loves that would give him a reason to lash out.
-Gelato has high energy levels (both ki and otherwise) and he was a bit of a handful for his father when he was a child, because it wasn’t uncommon for the little icejin to get himself into trouble by accident. Unfortunately for his father’s anxiety, Gelato is grown but still can still end up accidentally finding trouble. He doesn’t like to be controlled, though he isn’t willfully rebellious, he wishes neither to stay on planet Suringa with his father to be “safe”, or become the heir that Captain Pop initially wanted.
-Gelato doesn’t actually know WHAT to do with himself much of the time, which causes him to be antsy and anxious, and gives him more motivation to spend time training or looking for new places to explore/run around in so he can blow off his energy.
-Deep down, Gelato has a pretty fluffy soul, and is willing to do favors for strangers at random. If given a compliment or other forms of affection, he’ll love it, but isn’t always sure how to accept them, so it’s not too hard to make him a lil’ flustered.
-He doesn’t cry very often, and has a high pain tolerance.
-He’s not dumb, but he is a young man with limited life experience, so due to his curious and friendly nature he can be naive.
-Gelato has a huge fear of being trapped or restrained.
-He has a high libido, but is very shy with things of a sexual nature, and it’s easy for him to feel uncomfortable or insecure.
-A mixture of family genetics and training has made Gelato strong enough to reach golden form. Though Captain Pop has a good power level, it is believed that Gelato is the first in their family line to have been able to transform at all. He only has the two forms, a base, and golden. Gelato liked the planet he grew up on, but often felt distant from the suringi people, because he never really fit in, and he was aware that his growing power unsettled some of them. He loves his Papa, and liked a lot of the people in his community, but doesn’t feel like he really belongs anywhere. Gelato’s always spent a good time running off on his own.
DBX2 vs non: I originally created Gelato as a result of getting DB Xenoverse 2, and the result is kinda he technically has a slightly different life depending on if I was to do an RP that did or didn’t include the Time Patroller stuff.
On his own, Gelato doesn’t have much direction in life besides being curious and explorative, and training to grow his power. Sometimes he spends time at home with Soft, other times his with Pop and Starlight, and often he’s off running around some random place he decided looked cool. The potential of various dangers exploring areas of the universe on his own is kinda limitless, but a danger that he faces somewhat regularly when by himself would be the enemies of his grandfather, Pop, who is a longtime pirate, and it’s pretty reasonable that rivalries between other groups just kinda naturally happen. The longest running, and the most problematic, was the rivalry between Pop and Pop’s crew, and Captain Ancho, who was succeeded by Veal. Veal has a personal grudge against Pop, and he also has… like… no hobbies, so him doing things to anger Pop isn’t out of the ordinary. Gelato gets dragged into things by association. As far as who Gelato has to deal with personally, that would be Silk, who’s a heckin’ creeper.
As a Time Patroller, Gelato is more happy and satisfied in life, because though he doesn’t always understand a lot of the complex time stuff, he’s good at the job, and more importantly, T.P. gave him something and somewhere he felt like he could finally belong with. He lives in his own apartment in Conton City, and he’d also get in trouble with pirates and Silk less, because the city itself works as a form of protection. It’s easier for people to attack ya when you’re alone and away from any people. Still, he does wind up away from people a lot. And of course there is the especially rough mission here and there, but ultimately, he’s happy. Breaking the news to his Papa, Soft, was very difficult at the time though. Soft had a hard time dealing with the information that suddenly his son was going to permanently live far away from him…?? And be part of some type of patrol…?? And he’d be responsible for taking care of history…?? WHAT?? … It caused a bad argument between Gelato and Soft (like, Soft being all “YOU’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE, YOUNG MAN” and practically going through the stages of grief), but Soft didn’t take long before he apologized. Gelato understood his father simply had a bad emotional reaction out of fear, and he knows his father is always worried about him, so he tries to keep in touch with his family as best he can to help reduce Soft’s anxiety. He downplays the amount of rough training he does.

Lol I left the dumb captions the same, because they still apply. xP

Introducing - Paragus
Tumblr media
Once a proud and loyal lieutenant of the Saiyan race, Paragus had thought to have been given a boon of luck and honor when his child Broly was born; a child of such extraordinary latent power, he was immediately placed within the most inner sectum of the palace, near the recently born Prince Vegeta as they slept on in their watery cribs. Truly, any Saiyan parent would be blessed that their blood could produce such a prodigy!
However, such power comes with others to fear his very son, igniting jealousy within the Saiyan's king that a child of lower class should surpass his son's own latent power level without even trying. The fear was justified in the king's mind - the child will grow up, growing even stronger without true need of training, but the power could only result in the would-be warrior to lose control over himself. Their world, the very universe, would be in danger when that day came that Broly would lose himself. And he feared what would happen if the recently ascended tyrant, King Cold's own son called Frieza, were to get his hands on the child and molded him into his own pet warrior. The devastation would be horrendous even to a race of warriors that killed without a second thought. And this led to King Vegeta to rid the child before he could even get a chance to begin learning to be a Saiyan.
Paragus felt betrayed - when begging for the King to reconsider his decision to send Broly off to the most distant, remote world of such desolation, Vampa, he was not only rebunked of his plea but told that his son was too dangerous. That he was lucky that Broly was even left alive at all. Yet it was clear that the King hoped that Vampa would kill the child, given how dangerous it was to even the most veteran warrior of his race! Forced to cut ties with Planet Vegeta and unofficially renouncing his loyalty to the King, Paragus could only think about finding his son and taking him to a more hospitable world where he could be trained safely. He swore that one day, King Vegeta would pay for sending his son away and metaphorically spitting in his face.
The old Saiyan harbored the need for vengeance, unable to let go of the injustice done onto him and Broly. Likely he's only been surviving off of his grudge and dark thoughts. Since having to accept the fate of being stuck on Vampa along with Broly after he left in a scout ship after the pod (killing the second Saiyan named Beets after proving to be useless in repairing the ship and desperate to stretch out the emergency supplies), he's trained his son every day for roughly fourty years that they've been stuck on Vampa. He might have cared about his son, but he ultimately knew that the boy was the only one between them that could carry out his revenge. The love he once had changed to a single-minded obsession of making Broly the ultimate warrior, to mold him into what he was feared to become - the Legendary Saiyan Warrior.
Rescued by scouts of the tyrant's son Frieza, Paragus was finally given a chance to fulfill his need for revenge. While it would not be against the King that sent his son to exile, but the King's son, Prince Vegeta, had been one of the very few survivors of their race. And as far as Paragus was concerned, the burden of guilt and betrayal stained the Prince's hands as heavily as that of the King. He will have the grudge settled by the Prince's death, by his son's hands.
He would do anything to make sure that his son survives and succeeds.
VERSES;; Unyielding Mentor - Managing to escape Vampa with his son Broly after several years had passed until a fateful day brought a ship that could still deliver them to another world, the two would come to live on Earth after Paragus learned of Prince Vegeta's whereabouts. However, after witnessing his and another Saiyan's powers, Paragus would choose instead to continue training Broly in the frigid lands in the north where they would be undisturbed. If he can continue to keep a tight hold of control over Broly, he could very well imagine Broly being able to surpass the two Saiyans within a few mere years.

Note
Why is everyone so angry over Toyotaro then over the thing with Goku not knowing when Gohan and Goten were born then? What if this is Toriyama's suggestion?
No, I’m pretty sure this is strictly Toyotaro’s nonsense because of the context.
Here’s the thing. The scene that initially started this controversy in the anime? The context there was that Vegeta was being a Tsundere and refusing to go train with Goku because he wanted to be there for his second child’s birth. But, being Vegeta, he’s not exactly open with his feelings and he refuses to just SAY why it’s important to him, coming up with an excuse that “Bulma would never forgive me if I left now”
This seemed odd to Goku, because Bulma told him to take Vegeta along just before this, and he had to wonder why she would hold a grudge for not being around for the birth when Chichi holds no resentment to him for not being around for Goten’s birth. So he comments, before really thinking about it or how it might sound mind, “Really? I was dead when Goten was born”
Now, this sounds bad yes, but it’s a case of Goku speaking before thinking and not meaning anything wrong. A lot of people took it as Goku being dismissive of Goten and the importance of childbirth and being there for your family. And while I get people getting that impression from the word choice… with the context mentioned, it’s pretty clear he didn’t mean that at all, and he probably would have been a lot more understanding of Vegeta’s motivations from the start if the prince of all drama queens had just been honest with him.
It’s also clear that it wasn’t the intent on the writers to portray Goku in a negative light with that in regards to his parenting skills, or tear him down in favour of propping up Vegeta. You know why?
Because say what you will about their overall handling of Goku, there’s plenty of issues especially with how they overplay their “Lol, Goku’s an idiot” jokes, especially in the Future Trunks saga. But the Super anime frequently portrays Goku as a loving and supportive parent.
Goku spends plenty of time hanging out with Goten while he’s working and at home, and is physically affectionate towards him. He’s happy for Gohan and the life he’s leading, and despite how Goku would be happy if Gohan were to train and become a fighter again (And he has been visibly happy and supportive of Gohan doing so this saga), he fully supports Gohan’s scholarly ambitions and realizes how important they are to him. As shown in episode 30, when Goku was quick to shrug off Gohan not being able to take part in the tournament against universe 6 because of a conference, saying “Studying’s important too”.
Goku loves his granddaughter Pan and dotes on her a lot. He’s considerate of his family’s well being, and despite wanting to go train with King Kai to make sure he was prepared for future threats to the earth, at the start of the show he was ready to keep farming to support everyone, only leaving to train after Mr Satan gave the family plenty of money to support themselves.
He flew into a rage we haven’t seen from him since Frieza killed Krillin when Goku Black revealed he’d murdered an alternate version of Chichi and Goten. And to top it off, in episode 77 itself, Goku was very happy to take Goten along with him to train with Whis, showing he’s happy to spend quality time with his son.
For all the shows ups and downs with how it writes Goku, it has never tried to paint Goku as anything else but a loving and supportive father who does care about his children and family. So it’s clear with that scene given all this context, that there was never any intention to tear Goku down or imply he doesn’t consider Goten’s birth an important thing.
Keep in mind, despite not being around for Goten’s birth, he and Goten bonded immediately after meeting each other, and after Goku came back to life they seem to just have a perfectly normal father son relationship as though Goku’s always been around, no resentment or anything.
Whereas Vegeta, even though he has grown a lot as a person and loves his family, was still willing to up and leave them at the drop of a hat back at the start of the RF saga to train with Whis. Goku knows that while Vegeta is a good guy and loves his family, he’s still a bit self-obsessed and wouldn’t normally pass up an excuse to go training, especially if it meant risking Goku surpassing him again.
So Vegeta’s reaction was weird enough for Goku to comment on, and since Whis showed up very quickly after and Goku just wanted to get going to train, he didn’t dwell on why Vegeta was being so reluctant and against leaving at the moment. He might have caught onto why it mattered so much on his own, we don’t know because of how the scene played out.
It’s likely that Goku might have just assumed that simply being around for your family was the most important thing. Now, you can argue that it was inconsiderate for him to not realize that being around for your child’s birth is a significant thing to a lot of people, but really they didn’t KNOW the baby was going to be born that day (And by the looks of things, she might not have been if not for Whis speeding things up), there’s not indication that Goku wanted to be gone for more than the rest of the day, and Whis could always keep an eye on things with his staff and take Vegeta back if Bulma went into labour.
And, well, the significance of the whole thing might not have immediately occurred to Goku because Bulma told him to bring Vegeta anyway, so it didn’t seem like there was any urgency for Vegeta to stay.
Could this exchange have been written a lot better and differently? Absolutely, no arguments there. But as it is, I don’t think it’s really that bad, or that Goku really comes off as that dismissive of either Goten, or the significance of having a child. It was just a conversation that was handled awkwardly between the two because Vegeta wasn’t being open with his feelings.
The word choice is shaky, but with everything in context I never saw it in the worst possible light or framing Goku in a negative way on purpose. People say stupid things without realizing it or how they might be taken all the time in real life, I know I’ve been there, no real harm done in the long run.
The manga though? That’s a different case entirely, because the context of the whole manga points to a writer having a specific bias against Goku.
Looking back, the manga seems to portray Goku as dismissive of his children at best, indignant about them at worst. Almost every scene of Goku together with Goten from the anime? Not in the manga, I can’t even remember the last time they shared panels together. Even the scene at the very start of Super with Goten on the tractor had Goku looking a lot more annoyed with Goten after saving him from falling off a cliff.
And Gohan? Oh boy, you know that moment I brought up where anime Goku was supportive of his son being a scholar and being understanding of Gohan having to miss out on the U6 tournament because of the conference?
Well, in the manga, when Vegeta suggests having Gohan on the teams roster, Goku calls him crazy and dismisses Gohan as having become a total bookworm, and admonishing him for focusing on studying and how he lost his Gi. And later when he asks Videl why Gohan isn’t around to watch the tournament and she mentions the conference, Goku gets indignant and basically insulted Gohan for it, being offended at his own son for having a job and responsibilities to live up to and not just dropping everything to come see him beat people up.
Doesn’t exactly paint Goku as a supportive or caring father, now does it? Also, that scene of Goku flying into a rage over Goku Black murdering Goten and Chichi? Didn’t happen in the manga. Black just comments “oh yeah, I killed you” and Goku makes a comment about “Guess i’m going to have to avenge… myself” and doesn’t even consider what Black might have done to his family, his first real concern after finding out about his alternate self’s murder in the anime.
On the flip side of this, Toyotaro still finds the time to fill up the last two sagas of the manga with moments of Vegeta being a good family man with Bulma and both versions of Trunks. Sure, the anime does this too, but it gives every couple good moments and every father is given some scenes doting on their children.
But it’s notable that Vegebul is the only couple that gets any real shipping moments in the manga, and Vegeta is also given comparatively more prominence in the Future Trunks saga compared to the anime, in the process sidelining Future Trunks himself a good amount might I add. This includes being the one to fight Goku Black during every encounter, with Goku not even getting a real confrontation with him.
Heck, Toyotaro outright takes a moment from the last episode of the anime where Goten goes to hug Goku after the whole ordeal with Zamasu and Chichi comes over expressing worry over Goku’s state, and removes Goten and Chichi from the scene entirely to give that moment to Vegeta, Trunks and Bulma.
Not to mention the scene where a severely exhausted Vegeta to the point he should barely be able to survive any more attacks at this point, randomly powers up after getting angry and destroys TWO merged Zamasu clones instantly, when Goku after achieving “Perfected” Super saiyan blue, a much more powerful upgrade to SSB, could only fight evenly with one Merged Zamasu for a while in an effort to burn through his potara time limit.
And then much of the first chapter of the universe survival saga in the manga is focused on Vegeta sparring with Whis and then Beerus, and outright retcons the super saiyan god prophecy to include Vegeta as Beerus’ destined rival alongside Goku.
If you think this all makes Toyotaro seem a little bit biased towards Vegeta and that he probably doesn’t have much respect for Goku’s parenting skills. Well then, you’re probably right.
And then we get to the big issue. You know that scene I just talked about in detail from the anime.
Well, here Goku states that he doesn’t know when either Goten OR Gohan was born, and Vegeta outright says “You may not be a bad guy, but as a father you’re the worst”.
The framing of this moment is the exact opposite of the anime.  Now first off, yes, Goku wasn’t around for Goten’s birth because he was dead. That’s a neutral fact. But GOHAN? Goku lived with Chichi the entire five years between Dragon Ball and the start of DBZ. He raised Gohan with her that whole time. Those are canon facts. The idea of him not knowing when Gohan was born is utter nonsense.
I mean, even if we were to accept that for some inexplicable reason he had to go away for a bit while Chichi was heavily pregnant (Which is never implied), and wasn’t around the day when Gohan was actually born… he should know when Gohan’s birthday is. Even if somehow we can believe he wasn’t around for the birth immediate after it happened, Goku SHOULD know when it did. The only explanation that he doesn’t in this case, is he just doesn’t care to remember it and it’s not that big a deal.
Especially problematic though is Vegeta outright calling Goku the worst father ever (Yeah, real funny mr never hugged his son until he was 8, punches him in the face for doing the thing you told him to do, didn’t care if he and his mother died at one point). That line makes it clear that the intent of this exchange is that Goku is supposed to be portrayed as a bad father here in this continuity, and as a contrast to make Vegeta look like the better, more considerate parent by comparison.
That is literally the worst way you can do anything like this.
The anime exchange was awkwardly worded, but ultimately harmless and it wasn’t meant in the way some people concluded because… well, some people who don’t like DBS’ handling of Goku take any excuse they can to complain about it and immediately jump to the worst possible conclusions with things like this.
But the manga scene? With the way this is handled, and taking into considering how Toyotaro usually handles Goku, especially in regards to how he perceives his children in contrast to the anime, and his fixation and glorification of Vegeta at several points, it’s visibly clear through the writing that Toyotaro (NOT Toriyama, because Toriyama writes Goku as a loving and supportive family man all the time) has about as much understanding of Goku’s parenting skills as your average TFS fanboy.
And it only gets worse. In the most recent chapter (Where Toyotaro also had Vegeta be the one to refuse to let Goten and Trunks compete in the ToP because “They’re just kids” and had him be a lot more immediately happy and excited around everyone else about Bulla’s birth), Toyotaro brought up that Goku in the manga has never seen a baby be born AND doesn’t even know HOW they’re born, wondering if Whis magically popping Bulla out of Bulma’s tummy was the standard birthing procedure.
Yeah, bull####!
I mean, I could believe that Goku didn’t actually witness the birth itself. I know some father’s sit in a waiting room while it’s happening, for example. But I CANNOT believe that Goku wasn’t told by Chichi, or anyone else at any point, how baby’s are actually born. You could get away with a comment like that with kid Goku, or even Goku at the end of Dragon Ball. But as a middle aged adult?!
No, there is literally no way that makes sense for his character to not know that sort of thing. The way that scene was handled infantilizes Goku and makes him a huge manchild. And it was Toyotaro that chose to portray him that way, because Goku makes no similar comment in the anime.
The way all of this is framed it DOES make it clear that Goku is pretty indifferent to the birth of his own children and the significance of it. It makes it clear Goku doesn’t know a thing about childbirth, or seemingly any significance in having a child.
The anime moment from episode 77 could have been written better, but this was outright written to frame Goku as a dismissive, bad father who doesn’t have much respect for his children, but Vegeta does because he’s super dad.
And before any Vegeta or Vegebul fan says anything, NO, I’m not trying to attack Toyotaro for “Giving them a moment” or whatever they want to say to play the victim card. I love Vegeta, and I was happy to see him put so much importance on the birth of his new baby in the anime. I’m happy for how much he’s grown.
But the way things were handled in the manga was insulting to Goku’s character, and you should NEVER tear down one character to build up another. That’s bad and stupid writing. It would be just as bad if either version made Vegeta regress severely or look worse than he should be as a parent at this point to make Goku look better by comparison.
I’m sure you’re wondering anon “Well, Toriyama signs off on everything, he must approve of this”. Toriyama makes corrections where he feels they’re needed yes, but he can make mistakes or just not think too hard about something. He’s only human. We don’t know how he actually feels about what Toyotaro did, and given his own writing of Goku and how the anime handles Goku as a parent, it’s clear that whatever the case, the manga’s attitude to Goku’s parenting skills isn’t on him. It’s on Toyotaro specifically.
Look, I have my issues with how Goku is written in the DBS anime too, I won’t argue too hard with people who find it annoying. But I stand by that the anime scene didn’t make Goku look as bad as people make it out to be, but the manga?
This isn’t even all of the problems with DBS manga Goku, but it is very much more insulting to me personally than just about anything the anime’s done. I can overlook moments of making him look overly stupid after some time to grumble about it, but what Toyotaro did here was so far out of character, so damaging and the complete antithesis of everything canon Goku’s character should be about, that it just makes me sick.
This mess IS on Toyotaro, and regardless of what the man wants to say about Goku being his favourite character, it’s clear through his actual writing where his real priorities lie, and that he fundamentally doesn’t understand who Goku is as a person.
