But anyways yeah yknow during Champion meetings prior to the reveal, imagine how soft Dia, Lance, and Iris were tho. Like, they were such doting parents to her even tho she never calls them mom and dad, and even if they weren't vocal of the thought that they see her as a daughter. Bc they had to keep things professional yknow, but damn it was hard bc Iris is their kid now, they take care of her during the summits, to the point that even Drayden reached out to them to watch after Iris for him. Ofc, it also got to the point they're doing it for themselves too bc they care abt Iris and they don't want anything to happen to her, they care for her, they care for their daughter

They watched her grow from the young rising star of Unova to the wise and strong Champion she turned out to be, and god they were so proud of her. There wasn't a moment that they weren't proud of her.

Then suddenly she started asking about fate, about destiny. Curiosity piqued, Diantha asked, "do you believe in destiny, my darling?"

"yeah, you're right," laughing, she then looked at Lance, "what about you, Lance? Do you believe in fate and destiny and all that?"

Lance chuckled at that, ruffling her hair, "I was never fond of those psychics who were so insistent about destiny, I never tell Sabrina that, but your m—" he cleared his throat, "I mean Diantha is right. We are in charge of our own lives, Iris." He smiled at her, "like how you're in control of your life, there are different paths set out for you, and whatever it is you choose, we will always be here for you."

But god imagine how during the reveal Iris remembers that and it fucks her up a bit. Bc Lance lied to her. There weren't many different paths set out for her, there was only one leading to where she is now. But,, she really shouldn't complain, as that path led her to the path of godhood, that path led her to Kyurem, that path led her to be more powerful than she already is. So why aren't Lance and Diantha w her? Didn't they promise her that no matter what path she chooses they'd always be there for her? So why are they just standing there?
