My dad just pulled out this poster he had from a Melody Maker, about Manchester music to 1992.

Magazine | Sweetheart Contract | The Correct Use of Soap (1980)
Another from my list of "underrated" artists. Lots of people seem to know the Buzzcocks, but are oblivious to this band which splintered off from it. Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley founded the Buzzcocks, but Devoto left the band in 1977 because he didn't like being part of the punk movement—I suspect it was more a circumstance of him not wanting to be seen as a member of any movement, really. Devoto formed Magazine, who released four excellent albums before disbanding in late 1981 (they reunited for a fifth in 2011).

FIRST WAVE UK PUNK IS ALWAYS GREAT, BUT IT'S "MOTÖRHEAD MONDAY" TODAY, SO...
PIC INFO: "Nostalgia for an age yet to come" -- Spotlight on a hand-drawn BUZZCOCKS concert poster, on Wednesday March 28th 1979, performing live at Friars Aylesbury (music club), Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK + the mighty MOTÖRHEAD, with GIRLSCHOOL (supporting), on Saturday March 31, 1979 (their landmark "Overkill" LP was released earlier that month).
Anyway, never seen this one before, and I wonder how much crossover appeal the MOTÖRHEAD gig carried with the BUZZCOCKS gig three days prior. In the end. After all, the Motörmasters were definitely construed as leaning more heavily into NWOBHM territory in '79, than the Buzzcocks angsty brand of power pop.

Buzzcocks hammered us hard at Great American Music Hall with their rapid-fire punk energy, and we loved every second!!

Steve Diggle was spectacular taking over the lead singer position. Danny Farrant on the kit is among the best, keeping impeccable timing and adding flair. The sold-out crowd created a large moshpit in the center that continued throughout the show.

Witness The Change - Pete Shelley
Pete Shelley found equal fame as a solo artist with his killer of a title track from this album, as well as his previous work with the UK Punk band The Buzzcocks. Make no mistake; this album is found pretty easily on streaming sites like Spotify. However, this particular song and one other track are nowhere in sight, likely due to them only being included on the U.S. release of the record.
