What Is Cannabidiol
It is an active ingredient in cannabis.
youtube
CBD is considered to have many medical applications.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the active cannabinoids (ingredients) in cannabis. CBD is considered to have many medical applications, and works in concert with THC to obtain what is known as the entourage effect. CBD is often extracted from the marijuana plant in the form of liquid oil and has slowly begun use as a treatment for Dravet syndrome in some US states.
Dravet syndrome is a form of epilepsy that begins during the infancy of a child’s life. This disease creates lethal seizures often with several instances per day. While there are reports that CBD is effective in the treatment of those who suffer epileptic events there is a lack of sufficient medical evidence to understand its effectiveness and safety.
Raphael Mechoulam is a cannabinoid researcher in Israel who believes Avidekel to be the first CBD enriched cannabis plant with almost no THC. Some researchers currently believe that CBD may also serve as a way to open receptors CB1 and CB2, allowing them to take in more of the available THC in the plant. A Canadian company has recently developed an aerosol drug for oral administration containing a nearly even mixture of THC and CBD. It was approved in 2005 under the name Sativex and is currently being used to alleviate pain associated with multiple sclerosis.
CBD is a Schedule two drug in Canada allowing for some medical uses, in the United States however it is not so clear cut. While marijuana itself it a Schedule I substance in the United States the Controlled Substances Act does not list CBD under any Schedule of the act. This has not stopped the Drug Enforcement Administration from treating CBD as a Schedule I substance. So while it may appear the drug is not currently regulated it is being treated as such by authority officials.
CBD is a potential treatment for glaucoma.
It is believed that due to CBD not being listed on the controlled substances act that CBD may be legal under federal law assuming it meets specific requirements. There is an exemption that allows products to be manufactured and sold in the United States if they produced from mature stalks and the fibers produced by them. This includes hemp oil and extracts of hemp products which may have high CBD content.
There is a US patent on file #6,630,507 titled “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” which is assigned to “The United States of America as Represented by The Department of Health and Human Services.” This patent mentions the use of CBD as a use as an anti-epileptic as well as a potential treatment for glaucoma. There is also a claim that using CBD may prevent neurotoxicity in the human brain as well as lower intraocular pressure in acute doses. The drug is also listed to have high antioxidant activity which can be used in oxidation associated diseases.

Cannabis — An Overview
Drugs... don't do them, kids! But if you find yourself in a position where you need to write about them (or just want to know), then this post a good place to get basic information about marijuana, and a solid jumping off point for more research.
Cannabis and Marijuana — Definitions
Marijuana: dried buds and leaves of Cannabis sativa plant. Anywhere between green, brown, and grey. Contains more than 400 chemicals, including delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the plant's main psychoactive chemical.
Hash: dried resin or tar of the female plant. Dark brown or black chunks, commonly sold in tinfoil packages.
Hash Oil: one of the purest forms of cannabis. Made of cannabis extract, which is a sticky, oily, reddish-brown to green substance.
Cannabis Consumption
Marijuana can be smoked in small pipes, or the more advertised variants, cigarettes called joints. It can also be baked into numerous foods. Hash is usually mixed with marijuana and/or tobacco and smoked. Hash oil is more commonly spread on the rolling paper of a joint, or the end of a lit cigarette.
How Marijuana Affects You
The effects of marijuana are shorter when smoked, from between 2–4 hours, along with the fact that they kick in faster. If eaten, the drug affects the body at a slower pace and for longer.
Marijuana affects everyone differently, and there is no way of predicting the effect of THC from person to person. The effects are dependent on the consumer's mood, environment, age, past or current medical conditions, the presence or lack of other drugs or alcohol in the system (including medication), among other things.
List of Effects
Most people
relaxed
talkative
giggly
increased appetite
distorted sense of time
short term memory impairment
Some People
self-conscious
irritable
anxious
insomnia
depression
paranoia (overly suspicious, feelings of persecution)
decrease in motivation and interest
Few People
flashbacks
delusions (false convictions held contrary to fact)
clouded mental process
impaired thinking
confusion
Young people report that chronic, or daily, use of marijuana can lead a person to experience all of these effects.
How You Get High
The active ingredient of the weed, the THC, binds to the nerve cells and releases dopamine into a part of the brain that controls learning and memory (cerebrum) and integrates the senses with emotions and motivations.
Additional Information and Final Note
Marijuana clashes badly with prescribed drugs, such as anti-depressants
In rare cases, a connection with the onset of serious mental illness such as schizophrenia has occurred
People with schizophrenia have an almost 'allergic' reaction to marijuana, and those with (certain) mental illnesses (commonly) have bad experiences with cannabis
People suffering from certain health problems, side effects of cancer/AIDS, etc. report that marijuana is helpful for controlling pain and other symptoms
This post is by no means claiming to be true for every circumstance. Everyone is different, and I'm sure people have personal stories that prove contrary to the information presented here. That's to be expected, as the effects of drugs on the humans body depend on many variables and are highly unpredictable.
With that said, if anything is wrong, please let me know immediately and keep in mind that my information is directly from Interior Health BC, which has a cannabis fact-sheet compilation that I'll link here.
I hope this helped anyone who needed it, and informed the rest of you. Stay safe :)

thc advice please?
Finding consistent, reliable info online for THC is really hard, and the local budtenders aren’t knowledgeable.
If anybody here could give some info, I’d greatly appreciate it 🙏
My mom has epilepsy, but she’s also got cancer, so she doesn’t want to ingest unnecessary sugar. We don’t want to smoke/vape.
She’s a lightweight, so she can’t take more than 1-2mg of THC at a time.
If she goes without THC for more than a few days, she has more seizures and can’t sleep.
But the syrup she used to take (and worked REALLY well) was discontinued.
We have a scale that can weigh things as little as 0.01g, so even if we gotta get a concentrate, I think we can still get her the dose she wants.
But everybody is so focused on smoking/vaping and almost all edibles are candy or chocolate, so I can’t really find info for medicinal THC.
Someone suggested oil and said you can request specific strains, but I can’t find it anywhere or I’m asking for the wrong thing?
And even if I do find something close, it’s either a hybrid or sativa. Those make her anxious and she can’t sleep.
From what I’ve found, she does best with myrcene dominant indica. Grandaddy Purple and Tahoe OG has worked great for her, but most places have switched to just saying THC instead of what strain it is.
And nobody can tell me where to find or how to ask for this and she’s having a lot of seizures while she’s waiting for me to find something 😭

THC Lube: We Asked a Budtender About Weed Lube | Weedmaps
Since THC isn't being metabolized by your liver, the THC metabolite 11-nor-9-carboxy-THC (THC-COOH) won't show up in your blood, hair, saliva, or urine.
Christine Skibola, PhD., drew on her background as a cancer researcher and Professor of Epidemiology to formulate Viva la V! with rejuvenating ingredients like vitamin E, honey, and cannabis-infused olive oil. As co-founder of Cosmic View, a California-based brand focused on whole-plant cannabis medicine, she's seen the vaginal health balm gain popularity as a sexual lubricant. While it's not compatible for use with condoms, it's suitable for customers who are concerned about workplace drug testing.

Things You Should know About the CBD Oil
Cannabidiol is primarily made from hemp. Hemp is different from marijuana because it does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which has psychoactive properties. THC is the ingredient in marijuana that makes users high after ingesting it. Only very low concentrations of this intoxicating cannabinoid are found in hemp. In fact, for hemp to be considered marijuana, it must contain less than 0.3% THC.
Many people are now interested in hemp-derived cannabidiol because of its non-psychoactive properties. It simply calms the user's nerves by giving them a relaxing feeling without making them high.
CBD oil is obtained or extracted from the flowers, leaves and stems of the hemp plant through an extraction process. The most commonly used and also effective extraction method is the CO2 extraction method. Cannabidiol oil is extracted along with other essential cannabinoids and terpenes in the correct proportions.
Benefits of CBD oil
CBD oil has many benefits for humans as it has demonstrated its extraordinary capabilities in the health and medical field. Here are the benefits:
• Relieves chronic pain: The human body consists of various systems that ensure its overall performance and health. One such system is the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS regulates and controls certain functions in the body, such as: B. Mood, sleep, pain, appetite and energy control. Marijuana oil interacts with receptors in the ECS to reduce pain and inflammation.
• Stops epilepsy and seizures: These are the general benefits of cannabis oil. The Food and Drug Administration has approved a cannabis oil medication called Epidiolex. This drug is used to treat two rare forms of epilepsy in children known as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastant syndrome. Marijuana oil is effective in stopping seizures and treating epilepsy.
• For the treatment of skin diseases: Effectively treats skin diseases such as acne, eczema and sclerosis with its antibacterial properties. In the case of acne, it reduces the production of sebum from the sebaceous glands.
• Cannabidiol can treat cancer: Cannabis oil helps fight cancer by stopping the growth of cancer cells. This stops the aggressive spread of breast cancer. However, research on these benefits has been carried out on mice.
• Cannabidiol oil helps reduce anxiety and depression: Many people in the world today suffer from anxiety and depression. Cannabis oil has been shown to be effective in this regard, calming patients' nerves and giving them a non-intoxicating feeling of relaxation.
In fact, CBD oil is a product that works wonders. Research and studies regarding CBD are still ongoing because there are still many things that are unknown. However, when purchasing CBD oil, it is recommended that you purchase from a reputable CBD company with high-quality CBD oil.

Does CBD work for pets? Ok for those not interested in the details. YES! CBD can be great for our four legged friends! A lot of you have likely heard a little about CBD for pets but there are still a lot of questions we need to ask. How can CBD help my pet? How should I administer it? What dosage is recommended? Why does it work? Can it be harmful? We have introduced our new pet line with 2 tinctures seperate flavors for Dogs & Cats: PET CBDAll great questions so let’s touch on each one. What are the benefits of CBD for pets?Promote General HealthReduce InflammationReduce PainIncrease appetiteReduce Anxiety (Social anxiety; Car anxiety; Veterinary fears; Thunderstorms; Separation anxiety)Alleviate Cancer related health problemsAlleviate OsteoarthritisAnticonvulsive effectsPalliative careNo toxicity or negative side effects *Unlike the damage incurred on the liver and kidneys with prescription medsHow Should I Administer CBD To My Pet?So this is a neat little fact that you may or may not be aware of. An animal’s biological system shares a 70% similarity to ours. Pretty cool! Also that endocannabinoid system that we all have and naturally produce cannabinoids in our brain…yes that’s part of the 70% and our furry friends have them too. So they can benefit from CBD just as much as we can. And administration is pretty similar to how we would take it. If your giving your pet a tincture you can either put the dropper directly into the dog’s mouth under his/her tongue (which could get a little hairy dependent on your dog) or you can just place it on your dog’s food just prior to consumption *That’s my personally preferred method but to each his own. The only thing you want to keep in mind if you have one of those dogs that’s just a grazer you’ll want to time putting the oil on his food around when she’s going to eat it because it will degrade if left on food for more than 30 minutes. It’s not the end of the world but if you planned on given him 10mg he could be getting only half of that or less. What is the correct dosage for my pets?So just like people there is no one size fits all. And there are some differences in pets as well. The way that a pet metabolizes CBD is a little bit different then people (it stays in their system longer). Also there has been some research showing negative side effects from THC in pets. No research has shown negative side effects from CBD. So why is THC potentially bad and CBD ok? Personally I don’t think either are bad it’s just a matter of proper dosing and the differences in metabolism. However, the psychoactive properties of THC can confuse and cause anxiety. Animals are more receptive to the cannabinoids and they can last longer in their system.Step 1:  Make sure that any CBD pet product you get is whole hemp processed (so all phytocannabinoids are in there), grown domestically in the good old USA (so we can be sure it’s free of pesticides), is 3rd party tested, and has less than .3% THC.Step 2: Weigh your dog and convert that weight to kg. Easier said than done for some. If you’re not sure and your German Sheppard doesn’t feel like getting on your scale today, make your best guess. All we are doing is getting a baseline to start with and you will adjust based on the effects. It works faster on animals than people so you’ll know quickly!Step 3: You want to start off giving your pet .3mg of active CBD for every kilogram of weight. So if your dog weighs 20lbs just convert that to Kg (20/2.2 = 9.09kg) Then multiply by .3 (9.09 x .3 = 2.7mg) So 3mg of  CBD would be a good daily starting point.Pets Weight (In Lbs)Weight (In Kg) Conversion (weight in kg x .3)Recommended Daily Dose5 lbs2.2720.6811mg CBD10 lbs4.5451.3631.5mg CBD15 lbs6.8182.0452mg CBD20 lbs9.092.7273mg CBD25 lbs11.3633.4093.5mg CBD30 lbs13.6364.094mg CBD35 lbs15.9094.7725mg CBD40 lbs18.1815.4545.5mg CBD45 lbs20.4546.1366mg CBD50 lbs22.7276.8187mg CBD55 lbs257.57.5mg CBD60 lbs27.2728.1818mg CBD65 lbs29.5458.8639mg CBD70 lbs31.8189.5459.5mg CBD75 lbs34.

After about 3-5 days, increase or decrease as necessary (lets say it makes your dog more sleepy during the day for example reduce dosage and give with dinner). Or perhaps your dog shows some improvement but not enough. Just increase the dosage by giving twice a day and repeat the 3-5 day assessment period. Why does CBD Work On My Pet?The same reasons CBD works for us. We all already create cannabinoids it’s part of your and your pets biological system. CBD triggers the release of cannabinoids into the endocannabinoid system in animals which then attach to the same CB1 and CB2 receptors we have, but for a longer period of time which likely accounts for the increased effectiveness we hear about in individual reports. Can it be harmful?  The great thing about CBD is that there are no toxicity levels found to date. Your dog could accidently get into your CBD stash and while she may poop it out or take a long nap no research has shown negative side effects to date and I have not been able to find any case studies that didn’t involve THC. No liver damage and no kidney damage unlike what is currently being promoted and pushed.Promotes Overall Animal Health:CBD taken at low levels on a daily basis can certainly promote your Pets’ overall health and have a positive impact on his or her day to day life. From reducing inflammation to aiding in social anxiety situations CBD can benefit your pet. We would certainly recommend a daily dose. And as always with anything we read or review there is more knowledge that we need to seek and more research conducted! https://mirthemp.com/does-cbd-work-for-pets/?feed_id=15175&_unique_id=6393bffcc09a0 #CBDforPets

Introduction to Medical Marijuana in Texas
Medical marijuana is gaining traction across the United States, and Texas is no exception. Although Texas has some of the country's strictest regulations on cannabis, there are ways for residents to access medical marijuana legally. Medical marijuana dispensaries have become a crucial part of the state’s healthcare infrastructure, providing products to patients with specific medical conditions. If you're considering using medical marijuana for health reasons, it's essential to understand how to obtain a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas and the role of dispensaries in helping you access safe, regulated products.
What is a Medical Marijuana Dispensary?
Medical marijuana dispensaries are specialized healthcare facilities where licensed professionals provide cannabis-based products for medical use. These dispensaries are regulated under Texas law, ensuring that products meet state standards for quality and safety. Unlike recreational cannabis stores, medical marijuana dispensaries only serve individuals who have been approved by the state to use cannabis as part of their medical treatment.
In Texas, medical marijuana dispensaries offer a limited selection of cannabis products, often in the form of low-THC oils, tinctures, capsules, or edibles. Patients who qualify can purchase these products to help manage symptoms from a range of approved medical conditions.
How to Obtain a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas
Before you can visit a medical marijuana dispensary in Texas, you need a Medical Marijuana Card. Texas operates under the Compassionate Use Program (CUP), which permits qualifying patients to access medical marijuana legally. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get a Medical Marijuana Card in Texas:
Determine Your Eligibility: In Texas, medical marijuana is only available to patients with specific conditions. These include epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, terminal cancer, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and certain neurological conditions. The list of qualifying conditions may expand over time as the state reviews medical research.
Find a Registered Physician: Only registered physicians under the Texas Compassionate Use Registry can prescribe medical marijuana. Make an appointment with a qualified doctor who can assess your condition and determine if cannabis is an appropriate treatment option.
Receive a Prescription: If your doctor determines that you are eligible, they will add you to the state’s Compassionate Use Registry. In Texas, the registry acts as the equivalent of a Medical Marijuana Card. Dispensaries can verify your registration and prescription directly through the registry.
Visit a Licensed Dispensary: Once you have your prescription, you can visit a medical marijuana dispensary in Texas or order products for delivery. Ensure that the dispensary is legally licensed under the state’s Compassionate Use Program.
Benefits of Using Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
There are several advantages to using licensed medical marijuana dispensaries:
Product Quality: Dispensaries in Texas are subject to strict regulatory standards, ensuring that patients receive safe, accurately labeled, and effective products.
Professional Guidance: Dispensary staff can help you choose the right products and dosages for your condition, based on professional knowledge and experience.
Legal Protection: Purchasing from a licensed dispensary ensures that your medical marijuana use remains compliant with Texas state laws.
Top Dispensaries in Texas for Medical Marijuana
There are currently a few licensed dispensaries in Texas under the Compassionate Use Program. Some of the prominent dispensaries include Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation, Fluent, and Goodblend. Each offers various cannabis products and delivery services to make access easier for patients across the state.
The Future of Medical Marijuana in Texas
Texas’s medical marijuana laws are gradually evolving, with growing public support for expanded access. Though limited in scope, the Compassionate Use Program demonstrates that the state is open to the idea of medical marijuana as a viable treatment option. Future changes in legislation may make it easier for more patients to access medical marijuana dispensaries, potentially adding more qualifying conditions and broader product availability.
Conclusion
For Texas residents, accessing medical marijuana legally begins with a Medical Marijuana Card. Licensed medical marijuana dispensaries provide high-quality, safe products for patients with qualifying conditions. If you or a loved one is considering medical marijuana as part of a healthcare plan, understanding the Compassionate Use Program and Texas’s dispensary options can help ensure you get the treatment you need within the confines of state law.

Separating Fact from Fiction in the World of Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana is a topic filled with both interest and misinformation, often making it difficult to discern the facts from myths. Let’s tackle some of the most common myths and misconceptions to shed light on the truth about medical marijuana.
Myth 1: Medical Marijuana is Just a Gateway Drug Fact: One of the most enduring myths is that medical marijuana leads to the use of harder substances. However, studies indicate that marijuana is rarely a stepping stone to other drugs, particularly when used in a controlled, medical setting. In fact, in some cases, cannabis is being studied as an "exit drug" that may help reduce dependence on opioids and other addictive substances by providing an alternative means of pain management.
Myth 2: All Cannabis is the Same Fact: Medical marijuana is not one-size-fits-all. Different strains and compounds in cannabis have varied effects. Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the most well-known compounds, each producing different therapeutic effects. For instance, CBD is non-psychoactive and is commonly used for anxiety and seizures, while THC has psychoactive effects and is often used for pain relief and appetite stimulation. Many strains are cultivated to have precise ratios of CBD to THC, allowing treatments to be highly tailored to specific symptoms or conditions.
Myth 3: Medical Marijuana Causes Lung Cancer Fact: Smoking any substance carries health risks, but research suggests that cannabis smoke is less harmful than tobacco smoke in terms of cancer risk. However, many patients avoid smoking by choosing alternative methods like oils, edibles, topicals, or vaporization, which deliver therapeutic benefits without the respiratory risks. For patients concerned about lung health, these methods can be safer and equally effective.
Myth 4: It Hasn’t Been Studied Enough to Be Safe Fact: Research on cannabis was historically limited due to regulatory barriers, but that is changing rapidly. Over recent years, a large body of evidence has emerged demonstrating its therapeutic benefits and safety for conditions like chronic pain, epilepsy, and cancer symptom management. Drugs like Epidiolex, a CBD-based medication, have received FDA approval, and numerous studies are underway, with findings supporting both efficacy and safety when used responsibly under medical guidance.
Myth 5: Medical Marijuana is Addictive Fact: Cannabis dependence can occur, but it is less common and generally less severe than dependencies associated with alcohol, nicotine, or opioids. Addiction risk is generally higher with recreational, high-THC use rather than medical applications that are carefully managed. Patients using medical marijuana under supervision, particularly those focusing on CBD-dominant formulations, show a much lower risk of developing a dependence.
Myth 6: Medical Marijuana Only Works as a Last Resort Fact: While it has often been viewed as a treatment of last resort, many patients and doctors are now considering it earlier in treatment plans. For instance, people suffering from chronic pain, PTSD, or anxiety disorders may find that cannabis provides relief without the side effects associated with conventional medications like opioids or benzodiazepines. Early intervention with medical marijuana may improve quality of life and offer a viable alternative to traditional pharmaceuticals.
Myth 7: Using Medical Marijuana Makes You High Fact: Medical marijuana is not necessarily about getting high. The CBD compound is non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t cause a “high” and is often used for therapeutic effects alone. Many medical cannabis formulations are low in THC and high in CBD, allowing patients to reap therapeutic benefits without experiencing psychoactive effects.
Myth 8: Cannabis is Legal, So It’s Safe for Everyone to Use Fact: While cannabis is legal for medical or recreational use in many places, that doesn’t mean it’s safe for everyone. Medical cannabis is typically recommended and dosed under medical supervision, and not everyone may be a good candidate, especially those with certain mental health conditions or individuals taking specific medications. Consulting with healthcare providers is essential to understanding potential interactions and contraindications.
Myth 9: Medical Marijuana Cures Diseases Fact: Although medical marijuana can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life, it is not a cure for diseases. For example, while it helps control seizures in epilepsy, it doesn’t eliminate the underlying condition. Similarly, cannabis can alleviate cancer treatment side effects, but it is not a cure for cancer itself.
By addressing these myths and understanding the facts, we can better appreciate the nuanced role of medical marijuana in health and wellness. It has considerable therapeutic potential when used responsibly, but, like any treatment, it is not a universal remedy and should be used with awareness and guidance.

CBD for Cancer: What Does the Research Say?
While CBD is not a treatment for cancer itself, some studies have examined how it might help with cancer-related symptoms. Here's what research has found:
1. Pain Relief and Inflammation
Cancer and its treatments often cause pain and inflammation. CBD is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce pain by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system. Some cancer patients report that using CBD Flower or CBD oil helps alleviate their pain, making it easier to manage daily life.
2. Nausea and Appetite Stimulation
Chemotherapy is a common treatment for cancer but often causes nausea and loss of appetite. CBD may help relieve these side effects, as it has been shown to interact with serotonin receptors in the brain, potentially reducing nausea and improving appetite. Some patients find that consuming CBD Flowers can help stimulate their appetite, which is crucial for maintaining strength during treatment.
3. Anxiety and Sleep Issues
Dealing with cancer can cause significant stress and anxiety. CBD is known for its calming properties, and some patients find it helps reduce anxiety, promoting relaxation. Additionally, CBD may improve sleep quality, which is important for overall well-being during cancer treatment.

For example, certain studies have found that CBD can inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells in laboratory settings. However, it’s important to note that these effects have not been confirmed in human trials, and CBD should not be considered a replacement for conventional cancer treatments.
Can You Use CBD Flower for Cancer Symptoms?
