hi, same anon who wanted to know if sctir had a happy ending. well im not even fully done with that one yet and im already planning to suffer more!

so, does orv have at least not a sad ending? its the single most popular korean webnovel by a long shot and ive always seen it around in the webtoon space, but that psychological tag scares me and ive heard very fucked up things about this story and the pain it causes.

its to the point that im kind of convinced that there is no actual full happy ending available, but at least tell me that dokja doesnt just die for real or smth. as long as kdj and yjh arent like forever separated or dead thats good enough for me to jump the gun and read it.

Spoilers ahead:

So, the main novel is 551 chapters long. It has a Really painful final arc (which is called "epilogue" but dont be fooled, it's not an epilogue by normal standards. It's the crucial final arc of the story).

Then, the ending is hopeful, i want to say positive, but the thing is that the authors don't really show you the happy ending, they take you right at the door of it, let the characters have a glimpse of it, and the reader is left to imagine it themselves. This is very deliberate on the authors' part, as it's a story about a Reader, and by the end it directly involves it's own readers in the conclusion.

So like, if you want to stop there, and imagine a full happy ending, you can, and the authors encourage it. You have all the elements to believe it, it's not subtle or anything, but you never get to see the characters have a relaxing, happy epilogue. It is action and pain all to the very end, and the rest is up to you.

I will say, in this happy ending you Almost see, all the main group of characters are together, they Want to be together forever and live as a family, so that is the starting point where you're left to imagine from.

But!!!

ORV also has a long Side Story, that continues with chapter 553 (552 is another short, self contained side-story). And a bit like the epilogue isn't quite a normal epilogue, this isn't a normal Side Story.

Basically, if you want to find out More about what happens at the end of orv, after that open ending, you get a chance! At first it appears to be a separate story set in the same world building, but that's just a trick, it's basically a sequel and the characters you came to know appear a bit later and you learn what they've been up to.

But it means suffering more for a while, and delaying their happy ending.

And i mean, i hope it's just a delay, but i don't know, because the side story is not over yet! So i cannot tell you if it will end happily or not.

So basically. If you want to read it, i can promise you that a happy end exist, tho you dont get to see it on page, and you can chose to stop it there, and it's a perfectly acceptable way to end the story.

You can come back in 6-8 months and ask if the side story is over yet and it ended well xD

Personally, i think ORV is worth it. And i this as someone who suffered a lot reading the epilogue. The "vagueness" of the ending didnt bother me because it fits with the themes of the novel, which is all about What the agency of a reader reading a novel is.

But it's a choice you have to make for yourself!

Haha, thank you! I'm glad you like my blog. I actually did see this one on r/maleyandere (were you the same person who posted there? If not, it's quite a coincidence). It's an isekai story (and I can hear Cherry writhing in the background from another villainess story). It is pretty short so far since it's only three chapters, but the last chapter really dove headfirst into that yandere territory.

The story starts out with Lourie who isekaied into a novel she read. While she was enjoying her rich life, she is suddenly engaged to Calix, the novel's male lead. Upon hearing this she realizes her fate of being cast aside in favor of the female lead (which is... such a horrible thing to do, who throws away someone like that so easily), getting jealous and committing crimes that lead to her death. Upon realization, she attempts to push Calix away. However because he's very charming and very in love with Lourie, the two end up falling in love and basically repeating what happens in the novel. At least until a month before the appearance of the female lead. Upon realization she starts to push away Calix and his gifts, until she goes out to see him in the rain where he's been waiting. Calix is worried about Lourie believing that he did something wrong and tries to push their wedding from two weeks to one week, however, because Lourie is still worried about the future, attempts to call it off. Surprisingly, Calix pulls her in believing that the crowned prince seduced her even calling their marriage "fate". Calix ends up drugging Lourie, even revealing that his kind facade was something he created specificially for her and that he manipulated her by pretending to act vulnerable. He claims that she will be his, no matter what.

It’s kind of interesting in this version that Lourie actually goes through with following the novel’s plot (although unintentional) and doesn’t go through anything that makes it so that she can stop her death. Most of the times the character has to undergo a giant plan to get them to not die, but not in this case. Still I do find it off that Lourie never tells Calix why she wants to break off the engagement anyways considering the two are so close. Even if she didn’t want to reveal that she was actually isekaied into a novel, she could have at least told Calix in a round about way about the female lead that’s coming in, rather than just be unreasonable and cut off the engagement for no reason. I suppose it doesn’t really matter in the end since Calix would have never let go of Lourie in the first place.

Calix as a yandere is very cunning. I’m not sure if this situation was a love at first sight thing or if it might be a generational thing (as in his parents might have traits of a yandere) but he seems obsessed with Lourie from the start. Not only does he modify his personality to fit something that Lourie likes but he also purposefully shows himself in vulnerable situations (such as being wounded or standing in the rain) to gain her sympathy. The way that Calix talks about Lourie is in a way that entraps her claims her as his own, with a lot of symbols of chains and thorns. He also was extremely jealous of the crowned prince and of course ended up drugging Lourie at the end of the latest chapter. It definitely screams of yandere and it’s only been three chapters!

But yeah, I do think Calix is one. The story itself seems to escalate really quickly, so I’m curious to see how the rest of the story plays out.

yess hes the tallest in the guild when he joins...tallest to shortest its taffy, lime, oscar, coco, mochi (mochi is also smol which is why hes very tall in that picture)

aaa his relationships with the boys is a lot more sketchy than his relationship with mochi and coco!! coco obviously trusts him the most out of all of them so theyre on very good terms. mochi understands where he came from and also understands she can hand his ass to him again if he were to try to kill her for whatever reason, so shes not afraid of him and is willing to give him a chance to be Good™️. eventually him and mochi become good friends and hes the only friend of hers that was born with magic, so they understand each other quite well.

LIME...,....lime is still sus about taffy. but whatever mochi says goes. shes not a bad judge of character so while lime doesnt trust taffy, he does trust mochi, so he can live with it. ofc he offhandedly tells him not to get any ideas with mochi cuz he has dibs already (not in those words but thats the idea), and taffy actually has no idea what lime is trying to tell him shejfjdjf help this poor man. later though lime and taffy have good battle synergy!! the lightning + water combo is pretty deadly so when lime isnt fighting with mochi, hes usually fighting with taffy!! so eventually theyre cool.

oscar is the most sus of taffy. and it sticks around for a bit. mostly because oscar knows him the least, and also is naturally more skeptical so while he does trust mochi, hes not ready to trust her judgement yet. so he keeps an eye on taffy. not in a "im watching you *fingers to eyes motion*" all the time, but he just keeps note. maybe brings it up his concerns with mochi and/or coco. i think its underlying blame against taffy for what happened to oscar BECAUSE of taffy (it was amanitas doing, but oscar still associates taffy with amanita in his brain since they were on the same side for a while). they probably have a talk and oscar gets to understand him more. out of all of them, oscar understands taffys situation/circumstances/past the least, so it takes more time for him to "accept" him (as in accept the fact that hes a part of the guild now). but eventually theyre also cool!! he just becomes the tired friend whose always eating fruit cocktail out of the fridge at 2am and working night shifts at the ship dock. tired dad friend who also unlocks his inner dumbass after joining the guild!!
