❝ sky full of stars, j. burrow. ❞ ┉
⁎⠀┉⠀summary: joe's a big space nerd. you're a big space nerd. it's a match made in space nerd heaven.
⁎⠀┉⠀author's note: literally laid awake last night thinking about this. decided to write it during my lecture. short and sweet but i love writing joe in love. suppressing the urge to cite my sources on this lol. ty to wikipedia's black holes article <3 also don't worry y'all will still get a game day fic on sunday 🙂↕️
⁎⠀┉⠀warnings: science talk, general cheesiness.
⁎⠀┉⠀pairing: joe burrow x nasa engineer!reader.
⁎⠀┉⠀word count: 1k.
Your eyes scanned the living room, your gaze lingering on the framed LSU jersey hanging on the wall. A soft chuckle escaped your lips as you thought of Joe's insistence on displaying his pride so prominently in his Cincinnati home. Despite his celebrity status, he remained as down-to-earth as the day the two of you met eight months ago, a quality you cherished deeply.
The gentle hum of the air conditioner filled the quiet room as the documentary's narrator droned on about black holes. Joe's breathing grew even and steady, his head comfortably nestled in your lap. You felt his hand twitch in his half-sleep, his thumb brushing against your thigh through the fabric of your shorts. You gently stroked his hair, a soft smile playing on your lips.
Your thoughts drifted to the upcoming mission you were helping to prepare at the Johnson Space Center. The excitement of possibly making more discoveries on your Mars probe was palpable, and you couldn't wait to get back to Houston. Yet, here you were, feeling more content than ever, with a man you never thought you’d end up with. The rhythmic beat of Joe's heart against your palm was a reminder of the love the two of you had found amidst your two dramatically different lives.
You leaned back, your hand still cradling Joe's head, and refocused on the documentary. The TV screen flickered with images of stars, galaxies, and cosmic phenomena that you knew so well from your work, yet seeing them here, in Joe's home, made them feel so much more profound.
“So, how do black holes, like, eat stars?” Joe’s sleepy voice interrupted the silence. His eyes remained closed, but his mind was clearly still processing the information he had been hearing.
“It’s not so much that they eat stars, but rather they have such intense gravitational pull that nothing can escape them, not even light,” You explained, your voice a soothing murmur. You felt Joe’s head shift slightly, his curiosity piqued.
“So, it’s like a cosmic vacuum cleaner?” He mumbled, a hint of a smile in his voice.
You laughed, the sound echoing lightly in the room. “In a way, yes. But a vacuum cleaner you definitely don’t want to get too close to. Once something enters a black hole, it’s gone forever.”
Joe’s eyes fluttered open, and he looked up at you, the corners of his mouth tugging into a smile. “How can something be that powerful?” His gaze was earnest, the curiosity in his eyes warming your heart.
“It’s all about the mass and gravity. When a star dies and collapses, it can become so dense that its gravity is just too much for anything to resist. Not even light can escape, which is why we call them black holes. They’re like the universe’s trapdoor.” Your voice was soft, your eyes shining with the same enthusiasm that had captured Joe’s attention when you’d first described your job to him.
Joe nodded, his eyes drifting back to the TV screen. His fingers twined with yours, and you felt a gentle squeeze. “And what happens when something does fall in?” His question was genuine, his curiosity a bridge between your worlds.
“Well, we think that anything that gets too close gets stretched out like spaghetti. But before that, it passes the point of no return, gravity gets so intense that it bends time and space itself. It’s like nothing we can truly imagine.” Your words painted a vivid picture in the quiet room, your voice a mix of wonder and knowledge.
“You’re like nothing I could truly imagine. You’re like my own black hole, pulling me in with your brilliance every day.” Joe’s words were a gentle whisper, his blue eyes opening to find yours, a warmth that didn’t quite match the cosmic chaos on the screen.
Your heart fluttered. “You’re not so bad yourself, Mr. Heisman.” You leaned down to kiss his forehead, your smile tender. The room felt smaller, the universe’s mysteries forgotten as the two of your shared a moment of quiet intimacy.
The documentary played on, but your attention had shifted. Joe’s hand found yours again, fingers interlocking. He pulled himself up, dirty blonde hair messy from rest, eyes squinting in the light. “You know I’m going to keep asking questions until I understand everything you do, right?”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Joey. You know I love talking about this stuff with you.” Your voice was filled with affection as you reached for the remote and paused the documentary. The room was bathed in the soft glow of the TV, the only light source in the otherwise darkened space.
Joe sat up, his hand still holding yours. He leaned in, your eyes locking for a brief moment before your lips met in a gentle kiss that grew in passion. His arms wrapped around you, pulling you closer as you shifted on the couch to face him. Your kisses grew deeper, a silent declaration of your love and appreciation for one another’s differences and shared moments of wonder.
As you pulled apart, Joe whispered, “You know, I still can’t believe you agreed to go out with me. A guy who throws a football for a living asking out a NASA engineer.” His self-deprecation made you laugh again, the sound music to his ears. “Still not sure why you’re with me.”
“Why not?” you said, your voice filled with warmth. “You’re smarter than you give yourself credit for, Joe. And you’re incredibly good at what you do. Maybe not launching rockets, but you have your own kind of rocket science going on out there on the field.”
Joe chuckled, the sound rumbling through his chest and into yours. “You always know what to say to boost my ego.”
“I’ll say whatever it takes to get me ahead of Ja’Marr in your heart,” you teased with a laugh, leaning forward to steal another kiss from his pink lips. The warmth of his breath tickled your skin, sending a shiver down your spine.
Joe’s arms tightened around you, his eyes lighting up with mischief. “I don’t know, he’s pretty good at catching my throws.”
“Well, I’m pretty good at catching your heart, so I think we’re even,” you quipped back, your eyes sparkling with love and amusement.
Joe’s chuckle grew louder, the sound rumbling through the room like thunder. He leaned back, pulling you with him until you were lying on top of him, your legs draped over his. “You definitely win that title, babe. No contest.”
Your smile never left your face as you looked down at him. His strong arms wrapped around your waist, holding you in place. You felt his heartbeat beneath you, a steady drum that matched the rhythm of your own. The air between the two of you was electric, the kind of charge that could spark a star into existence.

ceo! ellie - 4
“see the stars, they’re shining bright. everything is alright tonight”
read part 3 here !
ellie woke up by the sound of glasses moving. tiredly, she rolled around, noticing your absence. the light was already beaming in from your bedroom window. how late was it? regardless, ellie got up and made her way down the hallway to meet you in the kitchen.
„morning!“
you smiled, noticeably already running on a cup of coffee. ellie rubber her eyes, groaning a small ‚morning‘ back with her raspy morning voice.
perhaps you had a little heartattack because of how how she manages to sound and look that good while you‘re fumbling around with cups and plates.
„want a coffee?“ you ask while already pouring some in a cup and handing it to her.
ellie, in the meantime, sat down at your kitchen table, watching you clean up your kitchen. she had to admit, you looked adorable while doing so. still in pyjamas, no make up, hair a little messy.. she could get used to that view.
“what time is it?“ she asked after the first few sips of coffee.
you looked at the time on your microwave. „9.45 am“
quickly, ellie pulled out her phone to see if there was anything to be missed. in fact, she had 4 missed calls from dina, 5 from jesse and 1 from an unknown number. she didn’t dare to take a look into her messages app.
„fuck.“, she groaned, letting her head fall into her hands.
“what‘s wrong?“ you asked her, sitting down on the other side of the table.
„work. still have to plan an event.“ her hands still supported her head. truth is, ellie didn’t want to. she hated planing and holding speeches on events. she hated the people acting all nice around her when truth was they despised her for taking over joels work.
you nodded, almost forgetting that ellie wasn’t just a girl, she was a business woman.
“i suppose you need to go soon then?”
“yeah.”
ellie looked up to you, her eyes covered in almost a sad glace. the time she spends with you makes her feel so free, like there isn’t a company to run or an event to plan or an problem to solve. its pure sweet freedom, the one she has been seeking for ages.
“if you need fresh clothes, check my closet. this way you don’t need to drive home first.” you said with the softest smile on your lips. maybe you also just liked the thought of her wearing your stuff although it may not fit her perfectly.
“i would just keep that hoodie on, if you don’t mind, dear?”
“of course not!”
the way the petnames rolled off her lips made you weak in the knees.
no matter how stressed ellie felt, she took her time drinking her coffee, keeping up a conversation with you while doing so. she kindly declined breakfast as she wasn’t the person to eat right after getting up.
slowly, you two got ready for the day. brushing teeth and hair, getting changed. ellie enjoyed the slow morning with you - although she knew dina and jesse would fuck her up for this.
together you walked to the beautiful white bentley outside. in your eyes, ellie looked so adorable. the tailored suit pants paired with your oversized university hoodie. she looked so casual, so suit, no black turtleneck - just a pretty girl that spend the night at someone’s place.
“i’ll text you later, okay? maybe we can grab some food?” she asked as gentle as always, smirking slightly.
“i’d love that.”
ellie knew you’d spend your day with your laptop and books, studying for the upcoming exams. maybe a little dinner date would make you feel better after.
she pulled you in a tight hug, stroking your hair lightly.
“see you later, pretty girl.”
°˖✧✿✧˖°
“what the fuck took you so long?”
dina was pissed, and maybe she was right about it. after all, miller enterprises almost got sued over some stupid agent.
“sorry.” ellie groaned in return, letting herself drop onto her leather office chair.
rolling her eyes to the back of her head dina called jesse and a few more members of the team to meet in ellies office.
“everything is set. while you were gone enjoying youself, we organised an event hall and a catering service.” jesse explained, putting some contacts and sheets of paper on ellies desk.
“invitations have been sent, celebrities and influencers as well as important business people have been invited. the charity event, as per wish of the andersons, will be dedicated to the saint mary hospital. helping finding a cure for terminal child illnesses.” dina continued, catching ellies attention.
“this is a lovely topic. helping research for kids that need it.. very well done, team.” she admitted, signing the checks that were in between the paper stack jesse put infront of her.
everybody stood around her desk, watching her silently, waiting for an objection or something to change. to their surprise, ellie was calm. soft tempered, reading through every detail.
“next friday?” she then asked, looking up at everybody.
“yessir.”
“fine. we can get everything done by then.”
they kept on discussing business manner some of the lower tier agents for organisations didn’t understand. after all some were too stunned by the fact that they were standing in their ceos office.
“everyone aware of what to do? are we all aligned?”
everybody nooded. some ‘aye sir’ and ‘yes ma’am’ coming from different corners. ellie took that as a clear yes.
“i expect a perfect event. i shall keep my eyes on your hands while doing so. if you need anything, be it budget or approval, send it to your team leader or to jesse to let me sign it, all clear?”
again, nodding and silent approvals.
ellie grinned, sometimes she loved the power.
“you’re all dismissed then.”
everybody, except for dina and jesse, left her office. ellie wished her friends left too. she wasn’t ready for tales about how she was irresponsible by being inactive and not checking her phone.
“didn’t know you went to university?” dina joked, leaning against a wall with her arms crossed. “another girl to play and show off with? is it that bartender girl?”
this woman knew how to piss ellie off. she rolled her eyes and got out of her comfortable leather seat.
“first of all, thats none of your business, dina. i didn’t say a word about you and jesse as well.”
“well you just di-“
“jesse, not know!”
jesse laughed demonically, knowing his jokes can be quite a bit.
“and second of all, i am always on top of everything. once i sleep in you act like my fucking mother!”
“didn’t you wish for one?”
if dina wasn’t her best friend, ellie would’ve grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the wall. it was a button you shouldn’t be pushing when talking to ellie. she was quite reserved about her past, about everything before joel.
„dina that’s enough!“ jesse threw in, getting in between the women.
„i‘ll send you approved contracts to sign.“ dina added before leaving the office.
ellie felt defeated and just looked at jesse.
„can you like leave too? i got work to do.“
„if you need anything let me know.“
„i won‘t but thanks, jesse.“
and so he left her in her huge office by herself. a huge groan left her throat before she activated her coffee machine for another cup. ellie light a cigarette and sat down at her desk. dina always had to pull the family card, opening old wounds that haven’t properly healed inside of ellie yet. there was no time to heal when you had a company to run.
she did her paperwork, read the contacts dina mailed her and approved or declined them. she took boring business calls and attended meetings with the top tier managers.
finally she called it a day and called you on her way to her car.
„hey ellie!“ you sweet voice light up her moof immediately.
“hey dear, can i come pick you up?”
oh, how you hoped she wouldn’t hear your smile in your voice.
“of course ! didnt finish studying yet but it can wait.”
ellie made her way to the garage of the office building, still having you on the phone.
“alright, i will be there in 20!”
°˖✧✿✧˖°
and she was. perhaps your were already waiting outside, wearing your favourite skirt paired with a hoodie and leather jacket, heeled boots underneath.
“hey.” again, she pulled you in a soft hug after getting out of her bentley before opening the door for you to get in.
“so, where are we going?”
“my apartment. im not feeling many people in a restaurant right now.”
you nodded, understanding the burden of work and after studying for what felt like ages, you were happy to not have dinner in a restaurant.
ellie drove off your street, 80s rock playing again. the sun was already down due to the winter nights. still, her car and her aura was so warm.
she stopped in front of an huge building that looked way to expensive to be an apartment building. pressing a little button on a remote control in her car, the doors to an underground garage opened. being an student that’s hardly living on budget, you were stunned.
and before you could notice, you stood in an elevator driving to the top floor of the apartment. the doors opened, and in front of you was probably the most gorgeous apartment you’ve ever seen. plants, led lights and lamp, nerdy posters and figures.
“welcome to my place.”
you were a hooked by the view from the enormous windows all around you. the skyline of the town was beautiful.
she helped you take off your jacket and put it on the hanger - as gentle as always. “thank you.” you smiled.
she showed you around. showing you her kitchen which was an dream, her two bathrooms that were so huge and beautiful, her living room, her bedroom and office. this apartment was an absolute dream. all black and white furniture, color coming from plants and posters.
“ellie this is an insane place.”
“took me a good while to get it like this, thank you.”
she smiled before getting wine glasses and a bottle of way too expensive looking wine.
“i was thinking about ordering pizza, im not a good cook unfortunately.”
“i would love that.”
and so you ordered pizza and drank way too expensive wine, talking, smoking cigarettes and maybe a little bit of weed too. you never felt so full filed in your life - neither did ellie.
“______?”
“hm?” you replied, looking up and taking a sip of the wine. ellie adored the way you look, slightly drunk, eyes full of life. how she wanted to have you for herself, but you hardly have entered the talking stage, did you?
by staring at your pretty eyes, she forgot what to say.
“ellie?” you laughed, putting her back to reality.
“uh yeah ! i wanted to ask uhm.. my company is having a charity event next friday and aah if you’re free, i’d love to have you coming alongsides me.”
you smiled, moving slightly closer to her.
“so like your date?”
ellie started blushing, but hid it well.
“if you wanna call it that.” she smiled in return, ignoring the fact that she was starting to get shy by your energy. the tension was think enough to be cut with a knife. god, you wanted to kiss her right in that spot.
“i’d love to.” you said, close enough for her to grab your face and kiss you. but she didn’t, not yet.
°˖✧✿✧˖°

a/n: is it too late to submit a piece for the #9DaysofSolomon event run by @impish-ivy? hope not! i was inspired to write something for prompt 1: stars to celebrate the end of the event. enjoy!
the devildom is a place of brilliance.
you've been here long enough to love its usual sights. city lights spotted from a bridge on the outskirts of town, detailed architecture from eras past lining your work to RAD every day-- it's a sort of beauty you get used to, breathtaking as it is. but there's always something new to surprise you when you least expect it.
tonight, the stars are shining bright in the darkened skies, opalescent and twinkling overhead. you watch from the safety of a blanket on the ground, but even from there, it feels like the stars are almost on top of you, reaching out with cosmic fingers of stardust and twilight. they're innumerable. truly, the sky is overtaken with light.
"beautiful, isn't it?"
solomon's voice rings clear behind you. you crane your neck to look back towards the sound of his footsteps. his snowy locks and the golden adornments on his cloak keep him from fading entirely into the night. a moment passes before he settles in next to you on the blanket.
"i've never seen anything like it," you murmur, breathless and awestruck.
"i've been alive for a long time, and even now... the sight still takes me by surprise. you can't see this sort of thing in any other realm."
the enormity of it all makes you feel like a little kid again. you're just a human on a cliffside, a tiny piece in the large scheme of time and space, utterly insignificant and gone within an instant. these stars in your eyes are ancient. you heard the brothers discuss their last sighting millennia ago-- yet here you are, somehow alive to see them yourself. your head spins at the thought. what are you doing here? who even are you, anyways?
"is everything alright?" his voice breaks through your racing thoughts.
you feel the warmth of solomon beside you, and everything feels okay.
"sometimes... i get overwhelmed by it all. the devildom, being human... do you ever feel that way?"
he chuckles softly. "i used to. it's been awhile. is that how you're feeling right now?"
"a little."
solomon takes your hand softly, carefully. you peek over at his face-- he's watching you with a gentle expression, steely eyes drinking in your features like you'll slip away any second. he often looks at you with reverence, but this feels... different. more intimate, somehow.
"i'm right here," he murmurs. "and i'm not going anywhere. we can go back if you're too overwhelmed, or we can talk about it all if you'd like. whatever you need, i'm here for you."
you don't doubt his intentions, nor his devotion. solomon intends to stay by your side no matter what you decide-- and throughout it all, he'll look at you like you put those very stars in the sky tonight.

“SAN DIEGO! You’ve been amazing!” Dean professed into the mic, breathing heavily and sweating from effort. “We’re gonna do a couple more for y’all tonight— since you’ve gone and made us feel so welcome. We gotta show that love right back to ya--- Sound good?”
The crowd erupted.
Dean grinned. God, it was so easy up there, so freeing. He looked around to see the pride and amusement shining back at him in his team’s eyes. His family. His band.
Sam smirked and rode a note down his A string.
“Sammy’s ready!” Dean teased, playing to the crowd. “Kev-o?!”
Kevin started on the high notes, tinkling them like fairy bells then crashed down into the basement, thundering into a paralleling rattle.
“Oh, I’d say he’s ready. PAMMY! Let’s hear it, girl!” Dean bellowed, barely remembering to use the mic.
She kicked the bass drum, setting the beat, pulsing as she pushed it faster, the heartbeat of the night.
Lee answered with a wail.
Dean wagged a finger at him comically and gestured back to the kit, as if to say ‘it’s the lady’s turn.’
Lee shrugged and held up his hands.
The crowd ate it all up.
Then the cymbals crashed and Pam arrived, bass still pumping in everyone’s ears, high hat and snare collided and her sticks ricocheted across the set like an avalanche. It was times like this that Dean could have sworn she had more than two arms. Her instincts always bordered on precognition, but when she was left to her own devices, she soared.
“PAMELA! FUCKING! BARNES!” Dean bellowed.
And the audience lost whatever ounce of voice they had left. It was sheer pandemonium.
Dean couldn’t help but laugh, the amount of joyous energy had to go somewhere. She just kept going. “GOD, WOMAN, OKAY! We hear YOU!”
Lee cackled and shook his head at Dean, it was his funeral.
It didn’t matter, up there, they were all invincible.
“Well, I guess she’s ready, Lee? Buddy? Should we join her?”
Lee didn’t say a word, instead he tied a fresh bandana around his head and waited for Dean to start the opening riff for ‘The Sword’ from their second album, then flew above him on an ominous chord.
Pamela dropped the beat, silence rang out for a single moment. On cue they all jumped in place and crashed back into the fan favorite song.
The crowd sang along and Dean couldn’t hear himself a single bit, but he also couldn’t care less. This was it.
This was rock’n’roll.
And he was a fucking star.
They all were.
The hotel in San Diego was fantastic, but staying in one place for too long was dangerous. Fans started clocking them and it wasn’t too far of a drive for Paps to be on the prowl. They kept the tour buses at the venue and got cars back to the hotel after the trip down, it just wasn’t practical to drive around town in those gas guzzlers.
But they had a full week to kill before they were due to take on Vegas.
So they improvised. Sam called ahead and rented a restaurant on the older edge of town, somewhere that wouldn’t draw attention. Someplace normal people went on payday or special occasions, not a random Thursday in March.
Their hostess guided them to a small banquet room with its own private bar, clearly confused on who they were and why they were suddenly closed for a private party. The staff hadn’t gotten much warning, but Dean knew Sam made sure everyone scheduled would be making more in tips than they had averaged since probably the holidays.
That’s the way they did things, they took care of the people who took care of them.
“Thanks, sweetheart. Uh, we’ve still got a dozen or so more people showing up and we’ll need one kids’ menu if you’d be so kind,” Dean explained as he took in the room and the simple layout of round tables of eight.
“Of course, anything else you need right now?” She seemed like a good kid, probably a college student, with bright eyes and long, light brown hair.
“Not at the moment, but I’ll let you know—?”
“Emma.” She smiled, moved the extra menus she was holding, and held out her hand for him to shake.
“Emma, of course. Thanks. I’m Dean. I’m the brother of the idiot paying for this whole thing.”
“Well, make yourself comfortable. I’ll be back when the others arrive.”
Dean grinned and turned back to the first carful of folks, which had also held Sam, Donna, Nancy, Bobby and Annie. Over the course of the next twenty minutes, everybody trickled in. Dean tried not to flinch when Victor and you came in together, but Jody and Kevin were so tight on your heels that Dean could tell you were all in a shared conversation. You hadn’t been alone with him on purpose, probably.
Gibson rushed in, hair slicked back and new bracelets from the merch stand proudly thrust out for Dean to comment on.
“Alright buddy! Bad ass! Here, you’re next to me for dinner.”
Dean fist bumped him and pulled out his chair, where the four-pack of crayons and outlined placemat-style menu waited.
“You get any sleep last night?” Dean asked after seeing Pamela drop like a brick into the seat on the other side of Gibson.
“A little,” Gibson said offhandedly as he ripped into his art supplies.
Pamela shook her head. “He had to tell me all about the show— in detail— the entire ride back to the hotel. Then he was hungry.”
“Well, you’ll sleep in tomorrow. Me too, if I’m lucky. Then again I’ve got nothing planned until we head out for Vegas. You guys?”
“Probably get to an aquarium at some point, if nothing else catches his eye,” Pamela said. “No solid plans, except I’m taking a day for myself tomorrow. So if you want to hang with your awesome nephew, call Lee.”
Dean chuckled and went to ruffle Gibson’s hair, but caught himself once he remembered all the product and care put into the ‘do. “I can do that.”
Everyone slowly got situated, taking up three of the tables closest to the bar. Each table had two servers at their disposal, adding to the seamlessness of the process. The food was amazing, Dean couldn’t remember when he last had a steak so well cooked outside of Bobby’s backyard.
Gibson picked at his food, carefully wiping off his hands between each bite so as not to sully his masterpiece.
Dean’s family talked around them, Donna and Benny seemed to be hitting it off across the table, discussing their favorite places to visit in New Orleans. Benny promised to show her where to get the real gumbo and she made him pinky promise not to forget. Bobby, Cesar and Kevin were laughing at the table on Dean’s right, while Annie and Trouble were sneaking pictures of the trio. Probably for blackmail later, Bobby did look a little tipsy after all.
Patience stood behind Lee massaging his scalp, it was unclear if this was a relaxation technique, a haircare discussion, or a potential mindmeld. With the two of them, nothing would surprise Dean anymore. The servers were bringing out a dessert cart and Dean leaned down to whisper to Gibson that he better finish his broccoli pronto.
Which the kid actually did without complaint, though sugar was always a good motivator.
The group grew more casual, standing and playing musical chairs when someone got up to grab drinks, or find the restroom. It was an easy night out with just the bands and their support staff, nights like that would grow further apart the longer the tour went on. After living in each other’s pockets for the next few months, they’d get sick of everyone else’s faces soon enough. But it was still early days and they were all still getting to know one another.
Nancy plopped down on the seat Pamela had vacated without so much as introducing herself to Gibson.
“Hey! Can I color too?”
Gibson didn’t even look up, he only nodded and said, “you gotta find your own paper, though.”
Dean smirked. “Trouble’s probably got a legal pad or something, if you want. Or I’m sure the hostess could grab you a menu too.”
He liked Nancy, there was something innocent about her that made him instantly equal parts protective and endeared. Kinda like when he first met Charlie, though he learned quickly that the redhead was far from innocent, just earnestly nerdy. Speaking of Charlie, Dean quickly glanced around the room, he hadn’t clocked where she was during dinner, he was too involved with his plate.
Nancy didn’t get up, she just pulled a little notepad out of her bag and commandeered the blue crayon that Gibson had set down.
Dean leaned back and continued to take in the room and all the good energy while he looked for his best friend to harass. Eventually he spotted her, chatting up the bartender and decided he was too comfortable to go and mess with her just yet. A swaying blob in the corner caught his eye, and all too late Dean realized the instrumental music playing in the background. It was Pam and Lee getting cozy in their own little world, their song playing over all the comfortable chaos.
Something inside Dean ached.
He didn’t want to come off judgemental, both Lee and Pamela had gotten their share of rants about their relationship from Dean over the years. But he also couldn’t look away. Here were two people so in love, that they found their way back together time and time again. He swallowed when he realized he was tearing up and cleared his throat.
“I’m gonna get some air,” Dean muttered as he left Gibson with Nancy and beelined to the restaurant proper, empty as it was.
He rubbed his face and tried to clear his thoughts. Something had been building inside of him this past week, and even though you still hadn’t given him a finish line, a reasonable hurdle to clear before calling this thing with Bela off, Dean knew he had to end it. It wasn’t helping anymore, in fact, it only seemed to stack more worry onto his plate.
Besides, at the end of the day, he didn’t want to be posting selfies with all the right hashtags with her. He wanted to be having a drink and a laugh with you, or doing literally anything else with you.
He pulled out his phone and dialed before he could guilt himself out of it.
She answered on the third ring.
“Dean, hi! Let me guess, she told you to tell me to shove it?” Bela said breezily.
Confused by the greeting, Dean fumbled. “Uh— no? I’m calling for me.”
“Are you now? And Y/N didn’t tell you I’ve been a bitch and that you shouldn’t play with me anymore.”
“No. But, actually, that is kind of why I’m calling. How do you feel about having an amicable break up?”
Bela hummed. “Are you sure you aren’t just trying to get her out of taking my calls?”
“What?! No. Look, you guys can work out your own shit. I have no idea why she’s ignoring you or if you were actually being a bitch or anything. I just need out. For me.”
There was a menacing patch of silence. “I see.”
“Oh don’t be like that, we’ve had a good run. You’ve even gotten more flashy names on the guest lists for any foreseeable fundraiser between all the suits you charmed and their significant others.”
“That is a good point. But, Dean, this was all about your image. What happens to that if you break my heart?”
“You’ll survive.”
Bela laughed. “Thrive, you mean. I know. But what is worth all the runaround this is gonna cause? Especially while on tour?”
Dean hadn’t thought she’d need a reason. They weren’t invested in one another emotionally. His brain spun its tires trying to come up with something other than the truth.
“Is there somebody else?”
Dean huffed. “Technically, you’d be the somebody else.”
Bela decided it was best to start toying with him. “Now I know it can’t be the drummer and the redhead’s like a sister to you— so that means—”
Dean groaned. “Shut up, like you didn’t already have some sort of idea.”
“Oh, no, Dean, you wear your heart on your sleeve quite nicely. But Y/N on the other hand is much harder to read.”
Dean felt his steak threaten to make a comeback.
“She hasn’t said anything about me?”
“Oh, she’s said plenty. But nothing that tells me anything you want to hear at the moment.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re certainly welcome. See the truth comes out eventually and I think this little nugget of information could settle whatever it is that has Y/N firmly in the avoidance zone.”
Dean felt the icy chill of panic drag down his back. “You can’t tell her— I should be the one— I need to see her face when she hears it— from me.”
Bela tisked. “Dean, I’m not gonna ruin the surprise. I mean the break up. I want to tell her. Hell, I’ll even take the blame if you’d like. But all the sentiments and grand gestures are in your hands. I promise.”
Dean exhaled. “That sounds fair. What am I missing here? Why does this feel too easy?”
Bela hummed with mirth. “Because what we’re doing is easy. But in practice—”
“We’re just giving Trouble more work to do! FUCK!” Dean kicked himself for the late realization. “You sure you’re good to pile this on her, too? Especially while she’s all catty with you?”
“Dean— we’ve been friends since college. We lived together for like two and a half years. Y/N and I have come back from far worse than me calling you a manchild who used her as an errand girl.”
“Ouch!”
“There was the time she ruined my Louboutins on spring break.”
“Not exactly the same thing here.”
“Probably not, but still, we’ll be okay. Just gotta let each other breathe a bit. Plus, we are missing like twenty brunches while you whisk her away all summer.”
“I’m not doing shit— it’s the job.”
“Well, maybe, you should think about the whisking and the wooing, then?”
Dean sighed and turned back toward the banquet hall. “Yeah, maybe. We’ll see if this puts me in the doghouse first.”
“I’ll save you some room on the rug if it comes to that.”
“Thanks, Bela. For everything.”
“You too, Dean. Never contact me again.”
Dean laughed at that. “Deal. Be good.”
He could still hear the smirk in her voice. “Ta-ta!”

Close To You
07/06/2024
Pairing: Hozier x reader
Word Count: 532
Warnings: rpf, yearning
Summary: He is not with you, and still everything reminds you of him.
A/N: Sorry in advance for the heartache.
Picture by Enric Moreu via unsplash
If you enjoy my story, liking is great, but leaving a comment or reblogging is the stuff that keeps me going. No permission is given to copy, repost or share my work on other platforms.
I will take the train tonight, get out of the city. Where everything reminds me of you.
I pass through the lamp light at the street corner where you kissed me until we were both dizzy. We had to take a taxi home because walking would have been impossible. We would have starved from the hunger we felt for each other before we had even had the chance to reach the doorstep.
Passing by your favourite pub. Through the window I watch as people are having the craic of their lives. I can see you among them, your laughter lighting up the gloomy room. I cannot help but laugh along. Then I blink, and you are gone. Instead I stare into a pair of longing eyes, reflecting in the dusty glass.
A couple is walking by, hand in hand, and suddenly I feel your fingers drifting between my own. They are so warm, so soft, squeezing mine affectionately. My sign to get closer to you. To lean my head against your shoulder and just enjoy being alive. In this moment. With you.
I cannot wait for you to get back so I can have you both, the city and you. The happy memories back to making me feel happy without the tinge of wistfulness. Because even now, with the city rushing by outside the window, its lights soon fading, everything reminds me of you.
There is a young man sitting close by. In his hand the silvery shine of a pocket knife to carve the word ‘love’ into the seat in front of him. I think of my heart and the way it carries your name. I smile and it drums a little faster in its cage.
Meanwhile the chugging sound of the train is undisturbed. A woman passes by and I can smell coffee. Black, I presume, just the way you would love it, despite the late hour.
I let my head sink against the cold of the window. The next stop is being announced and I gaze outside. In the distance I catch a glimpse of the round brick tower. And just like Joyce described, “There is not past, no future; everything flows in eternal present.” You read this to me once, but his words never held more meaning than now, here, on this train, without you.
The train pulls out of the station again. I do not count the stops, mine will come soon enough. I count the days instead. The days left until you will be with me again. But before I can finish, the train has stopped again and I get off.
The noise of civilisation long faded, I walk along an empty path. Silence surrounds me, broken only by the scrunch of dirt and gravel underneath my feet. And soon even that fades too. I sit down in the soft grass. It is still warm from the sunlight that has left hours ago.
Being here, without you, is worse than in the city, or on the train. A lot worse. I knew it would. And still, given the choice what it is that will make me feel close to you, I will always choose the stars.

a court of shadows and darkness
masterlist - previous chapter
chapter four
summary: Selaene, Rhysand's sister, Azriel's mate runs away after the High Lord of Spring tries to kill her.
warnings: none
enjoy 🌝
"I mean, how is it that I am only now learning of your origins in my court?" Selaene's laughter echoes in the emptiness that has now, century after century, become comforting. "My grandfather was part of the Night Court, but then he fell madly in love with my grandmother and decided to go with her to the Dawn Court. But you know the story."
After so many years together, Selaene and Vanessa can say that they have become more than friends, they have become sisters. The friend had seen the tiger a few times and had been amazed by her elegant and feline form: she had a white coat with black stripes that shone like the moon under the soft light of the passers-by, as they had called them. She had a sweet little face, and one could almost imagine her human form. From time to time, a passerby would come close enough to walk past her, but never close enough to catch her in time, and in recent years, the number of passersby had dwindled, making her doubt her plan.
"You know, Vane, I'm grateful you're here with me, I would have gone crazy without you."
"I was on the verge of madness when I found you. Maybe Mother wanted to give us a sister. You don't have one, do you?"
"No, only a brother, as you already know."
Another pause between the two as they continue to watch the darkness. A sad, bitter smile makes its way through the Fae's voice.
"We deserved a history like your grandparents'."
"But we got it. You have Azriel and I have Thomas."
"Vane..." Selaene did not have the heart to admit to herself that her beautiful mate, after her family thought her dead and after all these centuries, had probably forgotten her and moved on with his life. Not to mention telling Vanessa, who had so much faith in fate to envy.
"No, don't say that, Elle." She knew the tiger was haunted by such thoughts as well, and coming to terms with reality hurt too much. The conversation faded into a heavy silence, like at the beginning of their journey.
If Azriel had moved on, she would not have blamed him in any way, in fact, as much as it hurt, she would have let him go for his sake. Sometimes loving means knowing how to let go.
"Please, Selaene," it is rare for the friend to use her full name, and when she does, she is aware that she is beginning a serious and poignant speech, "remember. If you are lost in the darkness, seek the light."
"Or light it up." She cannot see her friend, but she knows she is smiling and nodding at the same time, as she is wont to do when she is pleased with something Selaene does.
This little play on words, which has become their phrase, has been with them for nearly four centuries, and every time they repeat it, that little spark of hope in their chests shines a little brighter.
A snort comes from the Fae's mouth. "What's wrong, Elle?"
"Nothing, it's just boring." Vanessa chuckles, "Come on, tell me about your family again, last time I think you missed a few adjectives about your brother's eyes."
The two women laugh, and Selaene is grateful that Vanessa enjoys listening to her so much.
"Rhysand's eyes tend to be more blue than mine. Mine are all purple. When he looks at the stars, he dreams. You know, Vane, I think he would be a big believer in if you get lost in the darkness, seek the light" Her friend's laughter echoes in the now familiar darkness, warming the atmosphere.
"Let me guess, he is also the biggest dreamer you know?"
"Of course. But only after me."
"After us. There is no one who dreams more than us."
Azriel sighs, the last breath as a free male of the evening.
Like every weekend, he and his family join in a dinner party at Feyre and Rhysand's house, and after Nyx's birth it is a rare event, which is why he could not say no.
He hasn't spoken to Feyre since what was said in his room, and he hopes she hasn't mentioned it to her mate, or tonight he will have to endure yet another lecture about how in life one must move on, that he also loved Selaene but that they must let her go.
Dinner doesn't go on so badly, it allows him to clear his mind a little and spend some light time, and Feyre doesn't seem to have said anything, doesn't even seem to remember what happened. She does not look at him with pity, and Azriel would like to hug her.
Later that evening the family is divided between those who play cards, those who drink and chat, and Azriel. Actually, he was part of the players, but after winning three out of four rounds, he was kicked out by a slightly tipsy and irritated Cassian. He wanted to retort that he only let Amren win the fourth round because he is slightly intimidated by her, but he opted to keep quiet. Now he stands on the terrace to get some fresh air. He gazes at the stars and the moon, smiling to himself as he remembers nights spent stargazing with his beloved. A sad smile. Azriel always thought Selaene was the reincarnation of the Moon, she shone with her own light, but not blinding like the sun, no, she was beautiful and deep and mysterious like that silver orb in the sky.
"Azriel?" the voice of Feyre distracted him from his thoughts.
"Yes?" Azriel sang victory too soon. He hoped Feyre had forgotten the whole thing, or simply decided to ignore it, but of course not. If it is not Rhysand, or Cassian, now Feyre is added to the list.
"I wanted to talk to you. About a few days ago...," the Fae's sea-colored eyes stare at his face for signs of despondency. Azriel continues to look at the moon. His Selaene.
"I... I haven't talked to Rhysand about it. I know Selaene's history, though, and I know-I mean, I see how your brothers look at you. Or how you're still loyal to her."
At the sound of his mate's name, Azriel grits his teeth. His body stiffens, but he forces himself to breathe. Once, twice, three times, before he looks at Feyre, meeting her eyes full of pity for him. But when he does, he finds none.
She looks at him understandingly, as if to say "I am here, talk to me."
He is surprised.
"Do you want to know my - our story, so then you will look at me as if I were a puppy left alone?"
Feyre smiles sadly, her gaze following that of the Illyrian warrior to the moon. There is a small pause before she responds.
"No, of course not, Az. Clearly I'm saddened, because from the way Rhysand described her, from the way you react just to hearing her name, she sounds like a really special person, and I would have liked to meet her myself. But I won't look at you with pity."
Azriel weighs his words carefully before speaking. Feyre for a moment thinks he might pull back, his posture stiff and his breaths short. But then the male sighs, muscles relaxing almost imperceptibly, and Feyre smiles at him before gently stroking his hand, as if to invite him to speak. As if he is saying "talk to me, I won't judge you," and only then does Azriel relent.
"She was a very special person. She was ... she was my moon."
The female senses the pain he is feeling from the squeaky voice, and knows it must be the first time he has spoken of this to anyone. She has never seen the ShadowSinger so...human, so fragile. And yet, her gaze remains fixed on his face, and her eyes do not make him pull back, but urge him to vent.
"She, we planned to accept the bond the week when she... On evenings like these I would sneak into her house and fly with her to Velaris, we would lie on the rocks and as we watched the stars, we would talk all night. She was...she was everything to me, Feyre. I've never loved anyone the way I loved her, and I don't think I can. Rhysand wants me to move on, to find someone to keep by my side. But I can't even think of another woman when my wound is still so fresh."
When Azriel finishes his speech, he feels a weight lift from his chest. Perhaps this is the first step, he thinks, to moving forward.
He looks at Feyre, searching her blue pools for something he cannot find. And he does not know what he finds there, but he is happy with what he sees. She smiles at him.
"You know, Az. Maybe sometimes loving someone is also knowing how to let go, maybe you've kept this weight on your chest too long, too afraid to show yourself vulnerable to your brothers. I'm glad you trusted me."
A comforting silence falls over them, and Azriel smiles. Feyre tries to speak again, but is interrupted by Cassian.
"Come on, you two! Who wants to play mime?"
And with that, the two return and take part in the games.

Yan!Chain Headcannons
part 1(Hyrule and Legend)
This episode is dedicated to @mushroomwoods and our conversation on how we want to marry Twilight
Tw: Yandarism and it’s accessories, violence, obsession, cannibalism mentioned, Twi has wolf mannerisms, Time has FD living vicariously in his mind
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Twilight
Absolute gentleman when you first got to know eachother, one of the more willing ones to give you trust without falling head over heels. Became close friends before he realised your part as his guide.
Speaking of, there’s a lot of guilt to say with Midna. He never really got to know if she loved him back. All he knows is that he fell in love with his guide and then, they were gone. If you see where this is leading then you know.
When Twilight rather abruptly remembers that you were in fact his guide alongside Midna, he doubts his own feelings. Especially considering all of the protectiveness he’d had to repress from the wolf which still made its place in his mind. But… you came back. And you cared. So, he must’ve loved you, right ? He’d be blind if he didn’t.
Main love language is probably physical touch and words of affirmation. It’s what he grew up with in Ordon and it’s what’s comforting to him. So, it’s what he extends when caring for you.
He also has the tendency for acts of service while he’s crushing. Will drop whatever he was assigned to do so you can sleep, talk, have company. Or do things you didn’t ask for like mending your clothes, restocking your bag, killing a man.
Absolute sweetheart. Cuddle buddy. Guard dog. Will cannibalise someone who’s rude to you as Wolfie and won’t bat an eye. Your safety is the most important.
Speaking on Wolfie and guard dogs, I mentioned this briefly before. Twilight has some left over effects from his wolf form. Keener senses, sharper attention, as well as various other side effects he’s taken in. They all manifest as an extra voice in his mind. Not like a separate person per say, just a separate intelligence. Like when you’re panicking and that primal voice tells you to run. He just has it all of the time. Especially in regards to you. As far as that little voice is concerned, you are his. Not shared with anyone. Not part of any other universe. Not by anyone else’s side. His. His love, his deity, his light, his mate (such term of endearment making the little voice keen with happiness). All his. And he’d do anything under the stars to keep it that way.
He’d love to just keep you in Ordon, where the people are tight knit, and where you can’t wander off without him knowing. He’ll work so you can stay at home and rest, maybe even look after the kids he’ll stick you with. It’s a dream of his, actually. The only thing him and his primal side agrees on.
They also agree that kidnapping you is Ay okay if it means that picturesque comfy living is the end of it.
Preferred nicknames for you: Darlin’, Love, Sweet Heart, Sugar, Babe, Honey
Bonus: He and Warriors had a bet on who could make you the most flustered. He’s a bit of a flirt with accent of his, especially after he learns of its affect on you.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Time
Absolute last when it came to falling for you. He doesn’t even know why in hindsight, he’d always taken a shine to you. He just… never noticed. dense as mf Anyway- You were definitely friends, or at least reliable source of comfort and calm. You’d talk him off the ledge of his panic attacks, cradling him like he was so precious and in turn, you never really worked as a part of the chain. Well, He never forced you at least. You always did anyway.
The deity was the first to point it out, being the one to live in his head. Pointing out his Time would never let anyone else do what you did, never. But alas, the deity still regarded you as a weak spot in Time’s bleeding heart, and there was nothing he could do to change that.
The others were next, teasing him about it. They didn’t think their suspicions were real, however, until they saw the frozen look he had on his face.
He was the last aside from you to realise it, coming swiftly after remembering your guidance. He’d always thought your caring nature as a rouse. But seeing how you never gave up on him, growing up alongside him, keeping him safe from dangers he was forced into… he was a fool for you.
Love language is Quality time and Acts of service. Loves just simply being with you, enjoying one another. He has to repay the favours of what you’ve done for him. A nice massage, a rest day, a nap. Anything your heart desires.
That said, you not only have one overly protective mf on your hands… but two! FD, while originally seeing you as an oversight, fell like an angel from heaven. I’m scared for whoever throws disrespect on your name because they will be delt with, By both the Hero of Time and the Fierce Deity of War.
Time would court you traditionally. Flowers, Gifts, Poetry. Whatever he could truly accomplish given the circumstances. You are pampered more an any of the Zeldas in any of the timelines. So much as make a single comment of how much you like something and his wallet is open.
Might genuinely think you’re a deity, you’re the only one FD likes enough to seek out approval from, so that must mean you’re something.
Worships the ground you walk on. Kills any nonbelievers. That’s his motto
Would definitely kidnap you. Between him and the deity, you’re not leaving. But depending on how cooperative you are, he’ll be a little more lax. Might even let you get a job if you’re good enough, so long as he can walk you to and from home like a good partner.
Preferred nicknames for you: my Love, my Beloved, Dearest, Darling, anything classy.
Bonus: He’s definitely thought about how similar Twi and you can be, down to comparing what traits were passed down the lineage to his successor.

"Don't follow me, you'll end up in my arms.."
Time for some more Dust appreciation. :)
Oneshot Masterpost * Notes: - Gender Neutral Reader - Part of the Bad Sanses collection
Alone With You
It's truly a lovely night. The stars twinkle overhead in the sky, the moon shining its natural spotlight over Nightmare's castle. A mission had gone quite well a few hours prior in the day, so you suggested the idea of having a little party to celebrate such a feat. With slight reluctance, you managed to get the others to agree.
So here you are, currently decorating the living room while Killer lifts you using his magic, your soul covered in a pretty shade of blue that illuminates the space around you. With a smile, you finish taping up a banner, and give him a thumbs up so he puts you back down onto the ground. Your legs wobble slightly as you land, adjusting yourself by grabbing onto one of the various couches.
"alright, you got this area pretty much covered. like i genuinely can't find a spot you didn't overly decorate." Killer grins, looking at your handiwork. Well, he's right: the room is covered from head to toe with party decorations, a few boxes of supplies now empty. Nightmare shakes his head at your antics as he watches from his favorite chair, legs crossed.
"And you'll be the ones to clean it up when this is over. Right?" He silently warns, a challenging smirk on his face. Killer gulps comically, letting out a sheepish laugh. You nudge his shoulder, before nodding at Nightmare.
"Yes, we will." You smile, the ruler's own relaxing a bit when your eyes meet. Dust and Horror enter the room from different directions, the latter going over to get a drink from the small table you set up. Dust leans on one of the walls, occasionally glancing off to the side and muttering things to..well, as far as you know, no one.
You find yourself glancing over at him from time to time, before Killer claps his hands, a sign that you're finally done decorating anywhere you could think of. "mkay! let's get this party STARTED- i'm feelin' up for some karaoke..HIT IT HORROR-"
"no." Is all he says as he lifts his drink to his teeth, taking a sip. "oKAY!" Killer goes to start up a song himself. You let out a snicker at their shenanigans, Nightmare rolling his eyelight in response. Some upbeat music begins to play as Killer grabs a mic, posing dramatically before the lyrics begin to pop up on screen.
Your gaze shifts from him to Dust when you see the other skeleton moving a hand into the darkened depths of his hood, your brows furrowing in worry. He steps outside after a few minutes of Killer's performance, needing a break..you look over to the others who seem to be distracted at the moment before opening the door leading outside as well, closing it gently behind you.
You spot him leaning against a wall of the castle, holding his head and wincing, muttering again..
"i know, i- fuck, stop being so loud. it's too much. too loud. it hurts my skull. please." There's a short pause, and he seems to calm down.. lifting up a small box from his pocket and taking out a magic infused cigarette, lighting it and taking a puff.
You frown as you walk over, stopping in place when his eyelights drift over to you. You smile a little at being acknowledged, but your worry is still obvious due to your furrowed brows.
"Hey, stranger. You feeling okay? You left all of a sudden..just wanted to make sure you're alright." You continue walking until you're by his side, leaning on the wall next to him and crossing your arms. He lets out a slight huff, looking up at the stars.
"just kinda..overstimulated. needed some quiet to calm down and killer singing california girls in there was not helping."
You let out a slight laugh, the skeleton beside you smiling a bit at the fact that it was because of him. "Yeah, I get that. If it helps..I could stay out here with you for a little bit."
He turns to look at you more directly.
"Ah- um-" You start to backtrack, getting a little nervous. "Of course, if you'd prefer to be alone I totally get that, I can go back inside and wait for you-"
"i'd like that. you don't have to stay out here if you don't want to, though. you spent all that time in there.."
"I do want to spend time with you, though..we've got all night for the party. I want.." You trail off when you realize how close he's standing now, leaning over you and looking down. You can only see his eyelights within the darkness of his hood thanks to your dark environment, the sun usually causing his eyes to be shrouded in darkness as well. His gaze is constant..he barely blinks, his eyes relaxed since he's in your presence. You clear your throat. "I want to stay with you as long as you're out here."
"well, alright then.. if that's what you really want." He backs away from you, dropping the cig after a few more puffs and crushing it with his shoe, walking along a path and motioning for you to follow. You do, hurrying a little to stay behind him as he makes his way over to the large stone fountain by Nightmare's rose garden.
You both sit at a small distance from each other on the fountain, Dust leaning back to stargaze and you fiddling with your thumbs. It'd been a hot minute since you could be alone together..and while you're not exactly happy with the fact it's because he was overstimulated, you are glad you can spend some time with him anyway.
"you know.. i don't think it ever gets old." There's a fondness to his voice as you look over. "the stars, i mean. looking at them reminds me of the first time i got to see them.. things're a lot different now, but..i know they'll always remain the same. a nice view on nice nights."
"You really like them, huh?" You smile, looking up yourself.
"yeah..one sight i could never get tired of." He smiles, even though you can't see it from where you're sitting.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" You look up at it as the skeleton's eyelights drift over to you, his eyelights softening.
"yeah..it really is."
You look over at him, your face beginning to feel warm upon seeing his expression. He puts his hand on his forehead, letting out a chuckle.
"you have got to stop looking at me like that."
"It's not like I mean to, you did this to me." You frown, furrowing your brows. He lets out a laugh at that, shifting his position and putting his arms around you..you freeze in place, knowing fully well that Dust is not usually one to initiate contact.
He's warm..the magic within him gives you warmth, despite his bones being so cold. You rest your head on his shoulder, looking vacantly into the distance. His arms rest comfortably around your body, holding you as comfortably close as possible..his chin resting on your head.
"sorry..just..need this for a little bit. i need to be a little selfish from time to time."
You sigh, hugging him gently. "I don't mind it at all, Dust. You can hold me whenever you want." You smile when you hear him chuckle again, closing his eyes.
"that's the thing..can't really say that if it's all the time." "Dust.."
The music inside changes, and you can't seem to hear Killer's muffled voice anymore. He must've decided to stop for a little bit.
Hearing one song in particular, you slowly move away from Dust..holding out your hand with a smile. He tilts his head to show confusion in response, looking between you and your hand.
"C'mon..let's have a little party of our own." Your smile shifts into a grin, and after a moment of contemplation, he agrees. He takes your hand, letting you pull him up off of the fountain (with a slight struggle because he's a big guy).
He seems to realize what you want to do, placing his arms around your waist before abruptly pulling you towards himself. You feel your face flush a bit darker as you look up into his eyelights before rolling your eyes at his now faintly visible smug grin.
You raise your arms and put them around his neck, the two of you beginning to slowly sway to the beat of the song playing inside. Someone slightly cracks the door so it's louder before disappearing back inside..you have a feeling you know who it is.
"What on earth are they doing out there?" Nightmare glances out the window from his chair, Killer standing a little closer to it to watch.
"they're having a moment, boss- i gotta give 'em a good setup."
"My my..I'd expected you to want to sabotage their time together, due to how jealous you few tend to get." Nightmare raises a browbone.
"well..we're all their partners. so we should all have time at some point." Killer rests his chin between his hands, smiling as he observes the two of you.
"..thanks for sticking with me. i didn't really want you to go." Dust averts his eyes, and you let out a little laugh.
"I know. I could tell. I wasn't gonna go anyway.. I'd prefer for everybody to be together, the party wouldn't be the same without you." You smile, seeing a bright shade of purple illuminating his hood and revealing his face.
"..you're too sweet for me. i don't deserve you."
"Untrue. You're perfect for me, and I'm perfect for you in..some way."
He chuckles again, a fondness to his eyes as he leans down and steals your lips with a kiss. You slowly close your eyes, leaning into it and holding still..savoring the moment. Magic fills your senses, a sour taste that you don't mind all that much hitting your tongue.
Eventually you have to break the kiss to breathe, taking a few light breaths and pressing your forehead against his. It's peaceful for a few seconds before he whispers to you.
"i think i'm ready to go back in now." You smile and nod at his statement, taking his hand and leading him along the path back to the door. Killer jolts in his spot, going back to pretend he was doing something while waiting on you both.
"heeey! glad you guys are back, who's up for some party games?" He grins, holding up some board game boxes. The two of you share a glance, before nodding in his direction.
"You can pick, Killer. I don't mind. You guys wanna play anything in particular?" You sit down, Killer sitting on your right and Dust on your left. Nightmare remains where he is, and Horror sits across from you.
"he can pick anything except for candyland. i'm sick of it." Dust rests his arms on the table, his chin resting on top of them.
"you're just salty i beat you last time." Killer taunts, earning a scoff from him. "you wanna go there? okay bet, let's play candyland."
You roll your eyes as Killer quickly begins setting up the board, smiling to yourself as you think of how the evening's gone so far.

Tzuyu x Reader: Run Away
Permanent Taglist: @cwpiqwon @justme-idle
A/N: Had a fic in the drafts for Chiro coming back, so here it is! Hope y’all enjoy☺️(esp chiro)
“I love you.”
It was a pretty typical line to say to the person you were dating, right? Okay, you could see how it was a little strong of a word. Like was a school crush, a fleeting crush maybe. But Love was usually forever. It meant commitment, faith, and everything inbetween. You understood it’s significance, which is why you hadn’t said it for so long, but today? With the moonlight shining down on her hair, her gummy smile illuminating the world, well, your world, but that was enough for you.You steadied your nerves, and you uttered those 3 words, hoping for the best. You wouldn’t exactly classify what happened as the best though.
Her smile faded in the blink of an eye, her irises contracting as she looked stunned, some might even say she was afraid from the looks of it.
“Tzuyu, you alright?” You hesitantly raised your right hand, trying to tap her on the shoulder, shake her out of whatever trance she was under.
Her shoulder darted away from you, you could hear her breath hastening as she looked down, shaking her head rapidly.
“We’re over, go away, now.” Was all you heard Tzuyu mutter, before she grabbed her bag and sprinted from the bench the two of you had made yours.
All that was left now was you, stunned in silence at the bench, only the still piping hot fries and the flowers she had given you prior left as the indicator of the amazing date the two of you were having up till that point.
You wanted to chase after her, but you heard her last words to you. You didn’t understand what had happened, but you didn’t want to go against her, so at least for now, you let her be, only dropping a quick text to Sana.
“Text me once Tzuyu gets home alright? Thanks Sana.” You quickly typed, before sighing, walking back home with fries and flowers in hand.
”What the hell happened?” You saw the message from Sana pop up, causing you to sigh.
“It’s complicated.” You replied, leaning back on your pillow.
“You said you loved her, didn’t you?” You read the message, and your eyes almost popped out of its sockets.
“How did you know?” You quickly replied.
“Come over now.” Was all Sana replied.
“Tzuyu said she wanted me gone, and I want to leave her be for now…”
“Come over now before I drag you by your eyelids.”
”Fine.”
After exchanging pleasantries with the guard at the dorm’s security, you nervously ran up the stairs, noticing the door slightly ajar. Sana’s machinations, no doubt.
Lightly pushing the door open, you quickly pulled back, hiding behind the door as much as you could as you heard Sana having a rather heated discussion with Tzuyu.
”What’s so scary about the word? You’re okay with telling me and all the other girls that you love us, and you don’t flinch when any of us say we love you, so why the hell is Y/N any different? Huh? You know as well as I do, or anyone with eyes and a twinge of common sense, that Y/N loves you, and that if you asked for the stars, that fool would pluck them out from the sky, so why? What’s so scary about the word huh? What?” Sana tried to keep her cool, but as someone who had spent so much time pushing the two of you together, just for all of that to disappear in just a night, she was frustrated to say the least.
From the back, you could see Tzuyu’s shoulders heaving up and down, hearing her breath hasten. In your worry, you were just about to bolt from behind your hiding spot, but you quickly stopped, shocked at what had transpired.
“Easy for you to say! Love comes just sooo easy to you, the great Minatozaki Sana, but some of us have been through shit okay! Do you know what it feels like to give yourself into a love that was never there? To hope so desperately against hope, that whatever you had was real, only for you to be left, in the dust, lying in a pool of your own despair and pain? I know Y/N loves me, and you know damn well I feel the same way, but I just can’t say it, because what if things change? What if I throw myself into love again, only to fall back in the void? How am I supposed to just go back to the way things were before? Even then, you know just as much as I do, the people who date idols go through hell sometimes. Sure, Y/N can handle it now, but what if one day it gets too much? It all ends the same way Sana. Me, alone. So tell me Sana, why is love so hard?” Tzuyu screamed in an outburst uncharacteristic of hers, but you could sense the anger, rage, and to some degree, sadness.
Even Sana stood there, speechless as Tzuyu seethed with rage, before she turned to leave, her face quickly draining of colour though.
“Hey…” You awkwardly say unsure of what to do, but Tzuyu’s eyes widened, before she quickly ran, moving to her room before slamming the door shut.
“I’m sorry…” Sana muttered, worried by her friend’s outburst, but you quickly tried to calm her down, then moved to Tzuyu’s room.
“Tzu, you there?” You whispered before you leaned your back on her door, sliding down it as you sat.
You could hear Tzuyu’s sniffling from behind the door, breathing slightly erratic with slight hiccups.
”Can I tell you a story?” You offer, hoping to calm her down.
You leaned upon the door for a few moments, silence filling your world, before you heard Tzuyu hum a soft agreement.
“There was a boy and a girl. They met at school, the way it usually goes. After a meeting that one would describe as love at first sight, the boy asks the girl out for drinks, an offer she happily accepts. They meet at the bar, have some drinks, and have the time of their lives. The next day, in school, the girl notices a rose in her locker, and she sees the boy at his seat, looking at her with a sweet smile. The plans for a next date were set almost immediately. The boy was an artist, a lyricist even, so every date saw the debut of a new piece, poems, songs or prose, and every piece made the girl fall deeper and deeper” You whisper to the door, a small smile spreading across your face as you recalled the first time you heard this story.
”What happened next?” Tzuyu asked, curious as to why you had suddenly stopped talking.
“Oh right, sorry. Things didn’t go that smoothly. Both of them didn’t come from wealthy families, so after graduation, they struggled to make ends meet, the job market wasn’t exactly accommodating at that point, only the boy getting a job. After months upon months of job hunting, still, the girl found herself unable to find a job. Of course, this made her down on herself, and above all, she felt like a burden, as the boy had taken to taking a part time job outside of his full time one to help settle both his and her expenses while she was just there, woefully unable to get a job.
She let this sadness overtake her, and one day, after yet another rejection letter, the girl felt worlds crash all around her. Feeling like nothing but a failure, the girl felt herself shrivel and sob atop their shared bed. Just as it were, the boy came back, small black box in hand and a huge smile across his face, though it quickly disappeared as he saw the love of his life sobbing on the bed. With reckless abandon, the boy tossed everything aside, safe the black box, then knelt in front of the girl.
“What’s wrong?”, he asked, worried as he quickly cupped her face in his hand, wiping her tears away.
“Why are you still doing this? Just leave me, I’m just deadweight”, she whispered back, distraught as she tried to look away from the boy.
Just the thought of leaving her hurt the boy, and he immediately held her hand, squeezing it to reassure her.
The boy got on one knee, gently cupping her face as he made a promise.
“My love, I may not be wise, and I won’t save the day, but look into my eyes, and know that I’ll always stay”
He promised, placing a tender kiss on her forehead, before looking to the small black box in his hand, opening it to her, making his last promise.
“And my love, I won’t run away.”
The ring wasn’t anything extraordinary of course, he couldn’t afford that no matter how many part time jobs he took. But to the girl, that ring was the most valuable thing in the world.”
“So it’s a happy ending?” Tzuyu’s voice chimed out from behind the door, and you could detect a tinge of hope in her voice.
“Well, it’s happy, but it’s not the ending, not just yet. Soon the girl got a lucky break, an employer with an eye for talent and want for a hard working employee, hired her, and helped nurture the girl into a successful executive. The boy, in the mean time, decided to pursue his passions, successfully becoming a songwriter for several major entertainment companies. Both successful, they shared happiness and bliss, building a home together. Some years later, their home had an addition, they had a child, funny, strange and mild, and their love for their child ran deep. They nurtured their child to be strong, kind, generous, and wanted to give their child a comfortable and safe childhood. The child was rather clumsy though, often unwittingly causing damage around the house. Despite the boy and girl’s attempts to reassure the child that it was okay, and as long as the child was careful the next time that it would be okay, the child began to turn their blame inward, thinking themself a clumsy fool who caused nothing but trouble for the boy and girl. One day, after breaking a rather expensive glass ornament, one that also held significant value to the girl, the girl couldn’t contain herself, while not lashing out, beginning to chide the child, wondering why the child couldn’t be more careful. It was a mistake, one that the girl quickly regretted, but it had left its mark. The child ran up to their room, crying as the girl followed closely behind, whispering a soft sorry.
“Why do you and dad still bother with me, all I do is bring trouble…” The child asked, and the girl quickly held the child close in an embrace.
“You’re not trouble, and even if you were, we’d never leave you…” The girl told the child, then, as the two of them laid in the bed, the girl told the child the story I just told you, Tzu, the story of how the boy and girl met, and the day the boy proposed. After the story, the child looked up at the girl with tears in their eyes, hugging the girl even tighter, as the girl whispered, “it doesn’t matter how you mess up, or how much trouble you cause, we know they’re all accidents, and we’ll never leave you, because we love you, and we always will. Always remember that, my dear dear child.” The girl whispered, before humming a soft lullaby to get the child to sleep.”
“Y/N… that’s a nice story, but…why did you tell me this.” Tzuyu asked, to which you cracked a small smile, sighing as you leaned on the door.
“Tzuyu, I know you think that it’s only a matter of time before I leave, you say it’s safer on your own, you’d rather sleep alone, then grow to need me there, but I hope now you can see, what my mom and dad showed me, because Tzuyu, I promise, I’m not going anywhere. I love you more and more each day, to love, is not to leave, so hear me when I say, my love, that I may not be wise, and I won’t save the day, but look in my eye, and know I’ll always stay. And I won’t run away.” You whispered, before you felt yourself fall backward, falling into Tzuyu’s hold, feeling her hands wrapped around your neck as she pulled you into her embrace.
“It was a nice story.” Tzuyu said, a wide gummy smile across her face, her eyes still tear streaked but the sadness was completely gone from her face. Tightening her hold around you, she leaned in, nuzzling her head in the side of your neck.
She placed a small kiss on your lips, before softly whispering.
“I love you too.”

I've never actually played Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon but...
I fucking love Necrozma
At first glance, it's.....an edgy prism monster? Absorbs light? Design's a bit awkward tbh BUT THERE'S SO MUCH MORE!! This thing is the agonised, partially reconstructed remains of another dimension's god of light!! It's torso is a fucking skull, its legs protrude from nostril holes, its unwieldly arms are huge feet stuck to the ends of frail wings!! It was once a dragon which shone with a blinding light, which illumined its home dimension, but the people there sought to control that light and in doing so destroyed it, wounding Necrozma and plunging their world into darkness
Necrozma absorbs light because it's driven by the single minded goal of regaining its true form!
Which is why it chases after and attempts to assimilate the emissaries of the sun and moon! In the hope that it can use their light to reconstitute itself! And yes, using the light of both, it is able to
It's still clearly incomplete, but it almost doesn't matter, what's missing is filled in with raw power!
LOOK AT THIS THING! It's Beautiful, shining golden crystal bathed in liquid light, it's like a star in beast form, a dragon of plasma!
A broken god, reconstituted, beautiful (this art is fucking official btw, how often does Pokemon go this hard?)
youtube
Speaking of Pokemon going hard, this thing is an absolute nuzlocke ender! An uncharacteristically extreme super boss for a series that usually gets criticised for being too easy
youtube
Also, you hear that theme?????? Holy fuck - Epic - Glorious - Majestic - Terrifying - Melancholic?...O-oh Yes, melancholic Because, despite everything, this refound glory is fleeting. This is a transformation, not an evolution, and fundamentally Necrozma is still not complete, you can only fill in the cracks with stolen energy for so long
(Note this animation apparently gets cut off in-game before you get to properly see it? This footage is from a BDSP mod hednjd) Canonically the player character wins that battle, and if you catch Necrozma we see that its ultra form is a temporary transformation, so one way or another that taste of glorious, beautiful, shining completeness is fleeting. ' - ' Necrozma is still incomplete, but for a moment you see the light of what once was,,,,,idk!??! that's kinda rad, kinda wild, I feel bad for this creature??? Like, isn't there something so fundamentally relatable about, knowing your potential, knowing the version of yourself that you're supposed to be, striving to be that version of yourself at all times, but only getting to feel that power for a brief moment, when everything falls into place?
It's implied that the Z crystals (items which allow Pokemon access to once a match special moves) are all shards of Necrozma's original body...Even though the original, full, Necrozma is gone, the embers of its power are spread far and wide
In conclusion: I just really like Necrozma c: it's a very specific mix of - powerful - beautiful - cosmic - devine - tragic - melancholic - and trans probably that just speaks to me ; 0 ;
#Pokemon#Necrozma#Ultra Necrozma#gushing about a thing I like#Necrozma is great honestly I wish they'd make more merch of it#Youtube

Proposing with the Spetsnaz’s
A/N: R6S is in a bad spot rn but at least the ops are still hot. Big thanks to my lovely beta lululandd who I would die for.
Warnings: None
Glaz
There was an anxious shift in your mind. One that had been like that the entire time you sat there. You were almost completely alone, the night sky shining a million diamonds above while you had curled up by the window. There was a little window seat that you always loved to read at, it was a peaceful little spot in your lover's apartment. What was different about this time was the fact that he sat parallel to you.
In front of him was a large canvas, one he had been working on for hours on end. It made you so anxious about your movements, so scared that you would interrupt and change his view if you moved. At first, when he brought it out, you had gone to move but he had insisted on you staying there. He’d even brought you a warm drink to coax you to stay there- even a blanket.
“Relax, if you were in my way I would have asked you to move two hours ago.” He placed down the brush and put it to the side. He stepped back, let out a breath and nodded. “But, doesn’t matter now. I’ve finished.”
“You’ve finished?” You cocked a brow, he was never usually that quick at painting and you couldn’t imagine a canvas that big would only take a few hours. His eyes flicked up with a smile and nodded.
“Ah, I’ve been working on it for a while now but finally got around to finishing it tonight.” There was a look in his eyes, one that you couldn’t quite place. Was there something off? Yet, he didn’t seem upset in any way. “Would you like to see?” At his question, you nodded and closed your book. You placed it to the side and sat up. Timur turned the stand around and the painting with it.
Your lips parted as you saw the entirety of the picture. It was far more zoomed out than you had originally thought. Instead of just the sky and buildings nearby, it was the direct view from where he stood. A frame of where you sat. Your head was turned towards the sky, while your book was open in your hands. The blanket covered your curled legs. “Timur…” Your breath hitched as you saw the night sky in the painting, it wasn’t the same as you spied outside. Instead, the stars spelt out ‘Marry me?’ Your head looked up and you made eye contact with you. “Do you mean it?”
“I wouldn’t have spent all this time painting it if I didn’t.”
The blanket fell to the ground and you leapt to your feet. It took you a couple of seconds to get around the canvas but you stretched your arms out around him with a laugh and a smile.
“Yes, Timur. Yes.” You pressed your hands against his face and leaned into him. The kiss you gave him was sweet. It was long and slow and he didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around you and pull you into his lap. When the pair of you parted it was only barely, you couldn’t contain the grin that consumed your entire face.
“I didn’t even show you the ring.” He breathed while your forehead pressed against his.
“I didn’t need to see it to know my answer.”
Fuze
Light from the projected screen illuminated the room. You were rather cozied up next to Shuhrat, it wasn’t too often that the pair of you could go to the theatre without someone else joining you. How he had managed to pull it off remained unknown but you didn’t bother to ask into it. Sometimes things were better left unknown. In all honesty, you hadn’t been paying too much attention to the film. Instead, you were focused on the way you were snuggled against Shuhrat's arm. His hand had made its home on your knee where his thumb gently stroked. A blanket covered the pair of you while the movie continued all around you.
“This movie is bad,” Shuhrat mumbled and you couldn’t help but laugh at his monotone voice.
“You picked it.” You pointed out and his eyes turned to focus on you.
“I picked poorly.”
“Ah, not all of them can be winners. We can turn it off and put something else on if you like.”
“I don’t want to ruin you watching it.”
“I’m not gonna lie Shuhrat, I zoned out like half an hour ago.” He raised a brow at you and you shrugged. “I just like chilling with you. We’ll be back in the field tomorrow and it’s nice to have a calm before the storm.”
“You don’t like the storm?”
“Not recently with how many people we have lost to it recently.” You glanced away for a second. “She can be a cruel mistress but I don’t think I would trade it for the world. This is my place in the world and I’m happy with that. I think one day the storm will take me too but that's just part of life.”
Shuhrat stared at you and you couldn’t help the heat that formed on your face. You cleared your throat and unlatched from his arm. “Sorry, didn’t mean to get so morbid.”
“I have to ask you something.” His words demanded your attention and you turned to face him.
“What's up?”
“After last time I wasn’t sure I would ever want to ask this again but after some careful consideration, I think I am. You're by my side day after day, night after night and I want you covering my back for as long as you can.” His other hand escaped the blanket and you could see the small box in it that he opened with his thumb. There sat an engraved platinum ring. It didn’t have any rocks on it and was rather minimalistic, perfect for everyday use in your line of work. “Will you marry me?” He looked at you for your reaction.
You covered your mouth with your hand. The car explosion on the projector went unnoticed as you silently nodded towards you.
“I mean we already moved in together and everything I just thought you never wanted to actually like… get married.” You whispered.
“I didn’t, not for a long time.”
“What changed your mind?”
Shuhrat looked away from you at the question and you tilted your head to get a better look at him. “Something Timur said to me.”
“Timur? What did he say?”
“We were watching you take down Alexsandr and he said to me, ‘It seems fate really did have things in store for you when you broke off your engagement. I’m glad that you managed to find your one. Especially someone able to keep Alexsandr on his feet. Or the floor I suppose.’ He was right and I didn’t want to squander that.” He picked the ring from the box, took your hand from your face and slowly slipped the ring on. There was a warm smile on your face that was so extremely rare to see. Shuhrat brought your hand to his face and gently kissed just below the ring.
Kapkan
Sleep had long since taken control of you. It wasn't your fault though, it had been a long day and an even longer drive. With the music at a low level and a comfortable silence between the pair of you, it was rather easy to slip into your dozed form.
Maxim hadn't bothered to wake you, there was no reason to. Besides, he did like that relaxed face that spread across your face. It wasn't until he parked the car at the cabin and got settled did he go to disturb you. His attempt to pick you up without disrupting or waking you failed and soon you stirred from your sleep in his arms.
He had made sure to open the door before he picked you up so it was easy for him to carry you. A yawn left your lips and you blinked away. "Go back to sleep. I'll look after you."
You pressed your face into his chest slightly. "We're here?"
"Yeah, don't worry I'll sort everything out."
"Mmm, you’re too nice to me." That had him chuckle slightly. It wasn't very often he was called nice.
"I look after my own."
"Is that what I am?"
"Hmm?"
"I'm yours?" You asked and he cocked a brow.
"I had assumed so considering the nature of our relationship was I wrong?" He already knew the answer and exactly how you felt but humored your question regardless. You had piqued his interest.
"Make it offical then. In writing."
"In writing?"
You pressed your lips together and cleared your throat slightly. "I am formally asking you, Maxim Basuda, if you would like to marry me." Your voice had a slight joking tone. A performance tone. He chuckled and placed you on your side of the bed that he had already prepared before he got you.
"I'm serious. I wanna get hitched. I don't really care too much about how we do it or where really. Fuck it we could get eloped if you wanna. But I wanna marry you, Maxim. Really badly."
He stared down at you and then sat on the bed next to you. "How long have you thought about this?"
"A while, I've been waiting for you to ask for ages and finally got sick of waiting. Thought I'd bite the bullet and just ask, it wasn't hard to when I got to wake in your arms ."
He turned away with a tsk. The man seemed a little amused but annoyed. "I've been trying to decide on a ring for a while now." He pulled out a box from the inside of his jacket and snapped it on the table next to you. "Everyone has ideas. Personally, rings don't matter that much to me but I can't deny I like having a piece of me with you." You picked up the box and flicked it open where inside was a basic ring. It didn't have any customisation to it, completely uniform. It was rather dark and caught the small amount of light that streamed into the room from the hallway.
"Jordan suggested it. It's tungsten. I was planning to ask you sometime during this trip but you beat me to it."
You twirled the metal ring on your finger. "You went around asking everyone?"
"First it started with Alexsandr considering he's been married before then it grew from there. It was quite interesting to see the way that they talked. A lot of them said what they would want and then there were a few debates on what you would like."
"How did you decide?"
"Jordan discussed the properties of the metal. I wanted something that would remind you of me."
"...Something that shatters under a lot of pressure? One of the hardest things out there?"
"I was going for practice." He gave you a playful glare and you slipped it on with a grin. "If you don't like it I can-"
"No! It's mine." You clutched your hand to your chest for a second and leaned towards him. "And so are you."
Tachanka
The wind whipped past your face as you sprinted. Gunfire continued all around you. What seemed like a marathon was only about twenty meters, maybe thirty. “Hey come on, don’t tell me you're tapping out this early.” Your voice was a jest, a concerned but lighthearted smile on your face as you helped him up off the ground. The metal table acted as perfect cover while he shook off the bullets to his plate.
“Take a little more than that to keep me down.” He smiled with a groan and rolled his shoulders. You heard a decent popping crack from one and couldn’t help the laugh that escaped your lips. He raised a brow and gathered his gun where he reloaded the mag.
“Good, cooking duty wouldn’t be the same without you.” You peaked up from the table and your eyes went to the grenade that dropped just in front of it. Alexsandr started to rise and follow your lead just in time for you to snatch the strap on the front of his armor. His body moved with yours as you dived back down and dragged him along with you. “‘Nade!” The explosion went off only a second later and his eyes locked with yours. The pair of you stayed frozen, panting slightly.
“Marry me.”
“What?” Your mind restarted at the words and he smirked.
“You hear me, I died once, it would be a tragedy to die again knowing I didn’t marry you so-” He placed his dirty hand against your face. “-Marry me.”
“You thought now, of all times, would be a good time to ask? Alex we are in a gunfight.”
“You don’t want to get married?”
“I…I do, of course I do… Fuck, I’m going to marry you and then kill you for asking right now I swear to god.”
His face stretched out into a massive grin and he got off you and peaked the table. Alex turned back to face you as you got off the ground. Without hesitation, you felt his lips against yours. It was only for the quickest of seconds but it was enough for you to blink a few times and stutter to his booming laugh, only covered by the sound of gunfire.
“It would be worth it!”
