darling!!! it’d be a pleasure!!!! Untitled Document 8 contains 2 wips, one of which is my lilyrosekiller fic based on chappell roan’s after midnight which i’ve decided actually yearns to be a bartydoralily fic instead and is now awaiting a major edit…. and the other is library fic!!!! library fic my beloved!!!!! it is perhaps a little known fact that the second chapter is fully written and mostly edited and just sitting in my docs until i get called back to it again….. here’s an extended snippet in the meantime xxx

Speaking of his horrible presence, he comes over again later in the day. Lily still hasn’t read more than five lines of her play or managed to peel back all of Barty’s layers of skin with her eyes alone, but the interruption is about as welcome as the tacit invitation to go wedding dress shopping in London with Petunia and their mother. That is to say, not at all.

She realises, as this thought crosses her mind, that she hasn’t thought about Petunia or their mother at all in the last seven hours. Barty doesn’t deserve any sort of credit for that though, she’s sure it's just because of the fact that she’s at the library, rather than the slightly obsessive observation she’s been undertaking. The library always clears her mind.

“What’s cooking, good-looking?” is his greeting as he collapses into the chair across from her once more.

Lily scowls, “Nothing is cooking, good-looking.”

He grins at her, “Aww, you think I’m good-looking, sweetheart? I’m flattered.”

“I do not,” she snaps, and then, maybe a little petulantly, “Besides, you were the one that said it first.”

“And what about it?” Barty is utterly shameless, “You are good-looking.”

He stops, looks her up and down, then somehow grins wider, “Implausibly so, in fact - for a nerd like you who spends her free time in the library during the holidays.”

Lily is no stranger to being called a nerd. Nowadays, she tends to just lean into it, so it’s a bit of an embarrassing reflex when she replies,

“Etymologically speaking, implausible can be defined as ‘unworthy of applause’, and thereby I would have to disagree with you because it’s certainly worthy of applause that I would place my ravishing good looks in such close proximity to you when I could be quite literally anywhere else.”

Barty whistles quietly, staring at her across the table, leaning forward with something she doesn’t particularly like in his eyes, “Oh yeah, talk dirty to me, baby.”

One day he’s going to find himself dead in a back alley and she won’t mourn him for a second. Lily shoots him an unimpressed glare in lieu of a bullet, but, because he’s the worst person in the entire world, it only seems to make him more delighted.

Cause it(she? they?? i never know how to refer to em) saved him, then ignored him, then let him pilot, and after that kinda. allowed Allura to take Shiro's soul and put him in kuron's body sooo..... i feel like its complicated

That is an excellent question. And you are right it would feel incredibly complicated but also i think Kuron would feel just really used by Black. Like to him Black had to have known that he was a clone, it had to have known that Haggar was in his mind and can control him, it had to have known that Shiro was "dead", it had to have known and yet it did nothing. For all he knows Black didnt even see him as a person but a replacement which is why he "saved" him and let him pilot when Keith flunked on them. So yeah Kuron does NOT trust Black's intentions, he does not trust Black, he lowkey hates Black for letting this happen, and if it were here he would have yelled at it for hours. Unfortunately Black and the other lions are not here and galavanting across the multiverse so this also goes to the backburner.

I am not saying that that is how Black saw him like a replacement. I am saying that Kuron believes Black saw him as a replacement

- First of all, he can tell that you’ll get sick without you even notice. He doesn’t say anything the whole day until he suddenly blurts out

— “you’re going to get sick” —which just- makes you laugh since it was very random and out of nowhere.

Turns out he was right- and as soon as he sees you with a cold he says ‘I told you it would happen’ which then leads him to give you an explanation how did he knew and what you should’ve done as soon as he told you- which is kinda annoying- it kinda annoys you- well, it does a lot, specially with your body feeling weak and that headache you were having right now along with the sore throat.

— “Thank you, Ryuzaki, but as you can see all your chatting doesn’t work now because i’m already sick!” —you say when you can’t take it anymore, that’s when he realises he messed up- even though he didn’t meant to.

— “I’m sorry if i’ve upset you” —he says which just makes you feel bad for exploding at him.

Now to the actual headcanons.

- He makes sure you are comfy the whole day. Making sure you get the ‘best chair’ according to him.

— “After doing an analysis, I think you should sit in this chair since this one is the comfiest and will help you with your weak muscles.” —

— “They’re all the same chair..” —

— “Actually, no-“ —

you get what I mean.

- Surprisingly, will ask for two cakes so you get something to eat- as he won’t share of his- but you’ll get a full slice!

- He also makes sure to ask Watari for a cup of tea to make you feel better. He knows exactly what tea helps with what- so you’ll be receiving different teas through the day because he cares about you! (of course not also because he wants to try if it also works in others)

- Though- if you get too close he will slowly and gently push you away from him- or he’ll just slowly get away from you. He cannot afford getting sick while trying to catch Kira!

- If he sees you overworking yourself will scold you and tell you to go and rest. That will only help your headache.

- At the end of the day he cares about you in his own way, and he also keeps going about how he was right about you getting sick..

Well.. he isn’t as nice as L.

He gets annoyed when you tell him you’re sick- like, what?

— “I think I have a cold..” —you tell him as you run your neck, feeling the sore throat slowly become worse.

— “No you don’t” —he immediately replies.

— “Uh- yes I do..” —Mello frowns at that- obviously not enjoying you getting sick.

— “Well that’s stupid- why did you get sick?” —

— “Well i don’t know! How am I supposed to control that!?” —

— “You’re supposed to take care of yourself!” —

- That’s how it goes.. But he’s angry because you neglected yourself, really. And also because you won’t be able be with him!

- You decide to stay in your room as the cold got worse. You needed to rest, so you covered yourself and closed your eyes- though you weren’t actually sleeping. And you swear if you received a dollar for everytime that Mello opened the door to check on you, you would be a millionaire.

- Not being able to see you made him a bit anxious- he was worried! So he went to check on you- multiple times. He didn’t say anything to you, he just opened the door, took a glance and then closed it. It was becoming a bit annoying, specially because Mello was not being silent. But of course if you told him he would get mad.

- At some time you fell asleep and you didn’t realise. You wake up suddenly- you assume it was because Mello came in and slammed the door. You frown, but when you look at your nightstand you notice a cup of tea.

- He doesn’t mean any harm, he’s just worried and frustrated.

- When you’re finally out of the room and you’re near him, he’ll just silently offer you some of his chocolate.

- Will attempt to cook you something (he just buys one of those pre-made soups and heats it up, it tasted nice though)

- He tries his best to take care of you while he fights with his own stubbornness.

- So.. Near‘s reaction is a bit different

- He really has a hard time trying to.. express himself.

— “Oh, because I am” —you reply. Near just stares at you— “so uhm.. i’m a bit down than usual” —you say to- try and keep going with the conversation.

— “I see..” —he just says— “well I hope you feel better..”

That’s how the conversation goes, really.

He doesn’t do much, what can i say, his treatment doesn’t change much

Though you notice how he’s gentler with you the others, not demanding that much

He lets you rest and also lets you near him

While you rest close to him he grabs a strand of your head and plays with it, just like he plays with his. He’s trying to make you feel better..

Will tell Halle or someone else to bring you some medicine or pills for your sore throat and headache, how nice of him!

At the end of the day, he comforts you silently, he really tried his best!

So regarding the Fallout tv series, do you think the NCR is well and truly gone, or can it still survive? Because I always thought there was a story in askinf if the NCR can and will learn from the mistakes from the past, or just repeat the cycle.

In Fallout canon (the games, not the show), by 2 and New Vegas, the NCR is far larger than just Shady Sands and the surrounding environs - they've grown to include Vault City, the LA Boneyard, etc. With the resource crises that New Vegas has been talking about with the NCR, nuking a major capital city could easily cause the NCR to fracture into smaller settlements.

Of course, Shady Sands was nuked, and the show retconned Shady Sands to be in LA so that they could be destroyed in the Boneyard as well, which does not exactly strike me as sound stewardship of the Fallout canon. So the NCR can easily collapse just because the writers say it needs to, rather than expanding the resource crisis. Because research is hard.

The question of whether the NCR can learn from the mistakes of the past is a valid one. Caesar talks about plutocratic corruption of the NCR and despite the fact that he's a slaving expansionist, he's not altogether wrong to say that corruption in the NCR is leading it down the same path that the United States did when its leadership became the Enclave. He's not right either, of course, because Caesar's conception of "civic virtue" is a nation devoted entirely to him that falls apart after his death. More appropriately, the resource crisis that the NCR has is pushing them along the similar path to the Resource Wars of the United States. They're conscripting their younger generation and throwing them into the fire just like the United States did, in order to expand into the Mojave.

This message is muddled. Mr. House says "If you want to see the results of democracy, look out the window," but in practice, the Great War was actually fired by an autocratic world power (China) and the United States had long become an oligarchic deep state under control of the Enclave. Another issue of retcon comes with House being a member of the nefarious Business Council at the end of the TV show, which means that the House of Fallout: New Vegas makes the statement knowing full well it's a transparent lie, because writing coherent settings is hard.

Finally, the downfall of the NCR doesn't happen because of their refusal to learn the lessons of the past, it happens because Hank is big sad Rose left him for Shady Sands. Perfectly fine for the message of the Vault-Tec executive who saw other people as little more that guinea pigs for social experiments to destroy an entire civilization in a fit of pique, but that undermines the message of the NCR pursuing the same relentless jingoism that the United States to have them be destroyed. Because providing a satisfying payoff is hard.
