To be fair, I don't really understand why he is so generally hated, because to me he was always one of the heroes of the story, even if he did some questionable choices in his adventure. I see him as this prophetic dream of what a hero is, compared to Lyra's righteousness - and in the end, she also has to make hard choices, because that is life.

I was reading your most recent answer about your OC (who is such a delightful character btw, you did a good job with her) and it made me think of something Philman said about the dæmons in an interview. When asked he said that usually the dæmons form came into being with the character, and of course the forms clearly have some logic behind them but its interesting to me that the logic emerges from his intuition In short,it was interesting to me you guys share the same method of choosing a dæmon

I’m glad you like the OC, really am! Yes, I think I have that in common with him. I think his attitude towards storytelling in general - as perceiving as something real and external and already existent, as opposed to something he created, kinda like a lore keeper of Lyra’s world - is very good and helps keep grounded the fantasy of her world. It’s also an attitude that keeps the story genuine, which explains the fact he isn’t very keen on writing more stuff about Lyra after The Book of Dust; for all he knows, by telling her story, he is exposing her life (I think he recently wrote a tweet about respecting her privacy or that Lyra might not be happy with him continuously writing stories about her). I also think that he is very fond of the world he created, even if he isn’t super detailed about it, and I can respect that.

I also like most of his carefree attitude towards naming daemons and giving them to people, I think it helps keep the story natural.

All those pieces are incredibly beautiful and I'm amazed at how quickly you were able to draw these! Your style and your art and your whole blog is amazing you're actually my favorite artist :)

For school the concentration is done, but I still plan on creating and adding to my collection of works centered around solitude. Seriously thank so much for the continued support- I never really expected to gather this much of a following around my art and I’m really lucky to have so many people that enjoy my work! (btw I’m actually really slow- each piece took me weeks to finish which is why I have less than 12 ;)
