Bandai Plans to Release "Summer Lesson" Hikari Miyamoto Life-Size Figure at 2.91 Million Yen

Japanese toy manufacture Bandai today announced that a 210mm-tall figure of Hikari Miyamoto, the heroine in Bandai Namco's Summer Lesson PlayStation VR game, from its "Figuarts ZERO" line in early August of this year, and that a 160cm-tall figure of her is planned from its "Human size" line sometime in near future. 

  The price for the Hikari Figuarts ZERO figure, which is her first commercial figure, is 9,504 yen (about  83.80 US dollars) and its first edition set will come with a product code to download her original swimsuit that can be used in the VR game. The code will be printed on a postcard with her message in the set. The target customer for the product are men in their 20s to 50s. 

  Bandai's "Human size" line specialized in human size character figures was launched with a 192cm-tall figure of Godzilla (1991 Hokkaido version) that is scheduled to be released this July. Hikari is the second

product from the line. While the Godzilla figure costs 4,482,000 yen (39,524 US dollars), the price for

the human size Hikari is set for more reasonable 2,916,000 yen (25,714 US dollars).

FFXIV as an eSport: “Definitely on our minds“ says Yoshi-P

Korea is just rolling in new FFXIV news lately.  PVP news this time.

From Reddit user CarrieRofLlight reminds us that: SE has already had official PvP tournaments in Japan. The recent one they had was a PvP tournament only for students and SE donated a bunch of PCs to the school that won that tournament. Q. The feast rankings have a lot of healers and melees at the top of the charts, who seem to have a higher contribution to winning the games. What do you think about adding rankings for each job?

Yoshida: Even if we did implement that sort of seperate ranking for each job, i can see people only choosing and liking jobs that can take down opponents easily, so we aren't considering adding it. This isn't talking about just the Korean data center and we have data on players gravitating towards certain jobs on the global data centers as well. Each tank job has a different play style and you can't ignore the DPS of a machinist, so we don't consider a certain role to be the only one contributing to victory. We assume these issues will get better as time goes by.  

Q. You talked about FFXIV moving into e-sports before, but any updates on that?

Yoshida: We're actually right in the middle of having discussions with sponsors. We'd like to have an official league, but at the moment we are getting feed back on the various problems that might come up, while we are preparing for it. Problems such as needing to go through PvE content to gear up and level up before you start PvPing, having too many skills where players wil get lost and confused, the need of a spectator mode (which we already solved by adding it in patch 3.4). We'll be solving these 3 problems and preparing it for the new pvp content which is planned for patch 4.0.  

Q. Any ideas on having a world championship pvp tournament?  

Yoshida: Having a world championship tournament is definitely in our minds and to go forward with that, we need to have a tournament to decide the champions of each country. We do consider having an official tournament for each region, but we still cannot say anything specific yet. With 4.0, the feed back we received will be applied to PvP content and the changes will include a variety of advice we got from people from the e-sports community (in general, not just FFXIV), so you should look forward to it.

The formerly Japanese-only Space Channel 5 VR: Ukiuki Viewing Show is coming westward as Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! If you're a massive Space Channel 5 fan like I am, this is probably the biggest news you'll hear all day.

This isn't the first we've heard of Space Channel 5 VR: Ukiuki Viewing Show, but it is the first confirmation we've heard that the game will be translated into English. It'll be be available at VRLA 2018, according to an announcement tweet that started it all. Whether this means it's going to be put into mass production afterward is anyone's guess, but with all the effort going into a translation, it pretty much has to mean we're going to get the new Space Channel 5 game we deserve.

We still don't know that much about it yet, other than the fact that it'll use the HTC Vive to allow you to dance along with Ulala. It may also come to other platforms beyond Vive, with the press release listing “Game Hardware for Console Version” and "TBD" at this time. It's high time for another chance at dancing it up with Ulala and her swingin' report show, so hopefully this means more could be coming for Space Channel 5 as a series in general in the near future.
