I really wanna hear about the skave one(12.)
OH BOYYYY
I'll get this one out of the way immediately. I hate them as a couple.
Ok hate's a little strong? To me, wanting them to be a couple is missing the goddamn point, on top of being an insanely boring outcome and doing the exact thing the ship subverts in canon. No hate to skave shippers, i just dont like this ship as an actual couple.
HOWEVER. As the train wreck they are in canon? Ignoring Lies, Cries and One Big Prize for a second - they rule. Awesome, nearly no notes. I love that they're doomed from the start of their actual romantic advances, that their flaws prevented them from getting in a relationship, hell i'd argue the superficial nature of their crushes is a good thing here since it reinforces both how this relationship wasn't gonna work out AND it feeds into each character's main flaw: a lack of communication.
Neither Dave nor Sky are great at telling the other what they want, and endlessly run on assumssions based on their own expectations and narratives; Sky thinks Dave would understand the competition comes first but Dave isn't doing that, while Dave is convinced Sky wants him bad for half the season and pines very hard after her for multiple challenges. Hell, this lack of communication/ignoring boundaries on Dave's end is set up perfectly by the first actual conversation they have! Sky opens up about her family's history and why she's training for the olympics... And he hasn't listened to a word she said. And then U-turns the conversation to liking her (according to my own recollection, maybe im missremembering). They both have apparent "quirks" related to how they communicate/react to liking someone else that would inhibit good communication for fucks sakes! They were doomed! And i love that! They're both trainwrecks in romance (especially Dave dear god) and it's so, so satisfying to watch it finally grumble by episode 9.
I love how Dave's cockiness is born out of him following the advice Shawn gave him last episode to an extreme, again showing that he's just going off on the assumption on how a "winner" acts. And then! Sky! Tells! Him! Off! Literally my favorite moment of the episode. If reality TV wouldn't let them reconcile i am glad it let Dave pathetically try to get over/get back at Sky while the girl completely brushes him off and really asserts her boundaries. I also like Dave outright eliminating himself afterwards (i dont get why Sky was in the bottom 2 tho...) because like! He would do that! He's only staying here because he's got a crush on the idea of Sky and now it's been destroyed, ofc dude wants out!
...and then the finale happened. Ughhhh why did they do them like thattttt
Look, im still making the tdpi video, but it's been put on the serious backburner since i am in medical school and have very limited access to my computer. But i have an entire paragraph about how i dont like how skave was handled in the finale, i've yapped about it before on here, how it mischaracterises Sky, how the Boyfriend Back Home reveal sucks ass, how Dave's reaction feels like the writters being desperate for an antagonistic force in the finale when Chris is right here, ect... Im not going there again. TLDR, i really dont like it.
Uh if you want more thoughts about them in canon, i'd recommend reading this post by @/leonave since it's really good. Anyways
NOW FOR WHAT I WANTED FOR MY REWRITE.
Now the thing is that i dont think there's much wrong with the start of the season. This applies to the set-up of Sky and Dave's dynamic; Dave crushing on Sky because she helped him makes sense with the way he seems to view her, and the way their crushes feel so artificial (ESPECIALLY on Sky's end) is actually beneficial to the direction i wanted to go with them - namely, that Sky isn't really crushing on Dave and Dave realises how superficial his crush was. And wasn't as intense as he thought it was. Obviously the conversation is a little awkward - Dave still wouldn't take rejection well, but is also trying to be supportive because he does like talking to Sky and also he basically just came on international television by accident and Dave isn't that terrible of a person - and they wouldn't be on good terms for a bit, but they would resolve the conflict and actually become friends afterwards. Eventually. They're still not great at communication and are also dealing with confusing emotions on reality TV.
uhhh idk what else to add to this post so uh. Here's Sky and Dave friendship propaganda with some yuri added ontop lol
#Again i he/himed sky during the rewrite section because sky is transmasc in the AU#i haven't thought about my tdpi rewrite in a little while but im glad i could talk about it again :D#td sky#td dave#tdpi#tdpi rewrite#mozzaskrella#ask game#Total drama#string cheesing

osu!weekly #94
The ceremonial war drums are about to be sounded to signal the beginning of our annual osu!taiko World Cup! There are hints of some big changes coming soon, and our weekly publication is here to help you stay in the know. Read on to get educated!
Previous Next
Weekly news
While I still have your attention about big changes, let’s get this one out of the way first. A new set of ranking criteria has made public and etched into stone! This marks the first set of collective achievements from the multi-mode ranking criteria council that looks to take an educated stance on improving our rules and guidelines based on the needs of the times and the community. If you want to take a look, head on over the wiki page where the new criteria are now live!
”But I want to make my own changes to the game!”, you might exclaim. Well, ignoring the fact that the development of osu is now more or less completely open source, you can now also apply as a beatmap nominator for osu!taiko, osu!catch, and osu!mania. Applications close on the 7th of March, so head out there and be the change you want to see in the world!
If you’re trying to get into mapping but don’t know where to start, perhaps a little push from our loving mentors can help! That said, applications for a brand new cycle of the osu!mania mentorship program has taken off. Get ready to spread your wings by studying under an already established member of the community. If you aren’t particularly interested in learning the ins and outs of spaghetti arranging, fret not. The osu!standard mentor cycles are also happening once every four months. We’ll have an announcement for you when that is ready, so be sure to watch out for the news!
A new storyboard showcase has been uploaded, this time featuring yet another wonderful work from Exile-. Noma’s Louder Machine is yet another adrenaline pumping track that questions the listener’s preparedness as a part of its routine. A storyboard showcase is great and all, but it really doesn’t replicate the feeling of playing this map with the storyboard on! If you’re interested, check out the map here.
youtube
The date of our next public osu!dev meeting has been decided! If you want to have a sneak peak at the progress behind the scenes, drop by the stream on Saturday, March 4th, 14:00 UTC. I’ve been told we’ll be discussing some particularly exciting things this time that may or may not be relevant to something already discussed in this issue, so don’t miss out! For a record of what was discussed in previous meetings, take a look at the dev blog that is now effectively maintained by Ephemeral.
Scorewatch: February Week 4 (With Scorewatch Patrol)
Cookiezi has pulled off an amazing feat that he could not believe. He absolutely stomped Wagakki Band - Tengaku with an amazing 97.81% HD FC, giving him 663pp. Not only did he manage to set the very first FC on the map, he also smashed the 100,000,000 score barrier on that map, and distancing himself away from currently 2nd on the map HappyStick. What a monster of a play.
youtube
Does cYsmix feat. Emmy - Tear Rain ring a bell to any of you newcomers? Well, you had to download this map when you first started playing osu! of course. Recently, a 4 digit player named Jeby pulled off a huge HDHRDT FC with 95.43% and scoring 223pp. But, that score was sniped by Salieri by setting a huger HDHRDTSD FC with 96.30% and scoring 237pp. Bring back some nostalgia to your day by watching this replay.
youtube
_yu68 continues to dominate the osu!taiko scene with an amazing 99.64% DT FC on Camellia - Exit This Earth's Atomosphere, earning 694pp. What can we really add to this amazing play and amazing player? Take time out of your day to check it out!
youtube
Callionet nearly emerged with an FC senya - Tsuki ni Murakumo Hana ni Kaze (PV ver.) by setting a crazy HDDT 99.20% 1 miss play, earning exactly 566pp. Only 3 players have ever attempted this diffficulty with HDDT, and the nearest to Callionet is _Asriel, which makes this score pretty impressive. Check it out.
youtube
step mania, better known as Attang, recently set a what appeared to be an impossible Camellia - PLANET//SHAPER NC 95.03% play, giving him 1167pp. Never mind the pp though, this play is incredibly crazy, as the notes come in at 220.5BPM, and with the HP drain at 9.3, you would need to minimize your miss count in order to even pass this map. This is a mindblowing score for the osu!mania community and might be one for you too.
youtube
NOTABLE MENTIONS:
DanyL has been skyrocketing in ranks lately, setting a 95.54% HDDT play on *namirin - Koi no Hime Hime Pettanko and earning himself 579pp.
Saiya - Remote Control falls for another HDDT play, this time from CXu, surprisingly enough, getting 512pp from his 97.63% play.
Fantasy and Amlink pulled off significant DT plays on 8284 vs wa. - Adularescence, the former with a 99.53% 844pp FC play, the latter with a 99.25% 3 miss 706pp play.
But wait, we’re forgetting something! The end of the month means solutions to last month’s puzzle.
I’d have to say though, I’m thoroughly disappointed in a certain name missing from the word hunt. I mean, the other half is there, so it begs the question of whether or not kirby is developing a worrying trend of favoritism. In other news, I am on my way to kirby’s house right now to give him a piece of my mind! If you have anything you’d like to see make the news next week, drop by the osu!dev discord or shoot us an email at [email protected]. With that, I’ll leave you to ponder the fate of our beloved riddler. Have fun everyone!

osu!weekly #92 (osu!mania 7K World Cup Results!)
The osu!mania 7K World Cup has reached a very decided conclusion! In the community, people are making a splash by coming up with their own ways to imrpove your osu! lifestyle. Missed out on the carnage? Read on!

Weekly news
From seemingly out of nowhere, Usin released a brand new (android only) home screen widget to display osu profiles! Featuring pleasant aesthetics and available in English or Korean, this handy little app promises to be a part of your new daily drive. If you, like me, like to remind yourself every time you check twitter how great you are at the game, head on over to the thread to find out how you can give it a try!
To the victor of osu!mania 7K World Cup go the spoils, but TWC is just around the corner! If you fancy yourself to be good at the arcade classic of beating on a drum viciously with your sticks of war, head on over to the registration page and sign up now!
The vg remix legend himself, Ben Briggs has joined our cast of featured artists! Perhaps your own ill gained knowledge of memetics has already educated you on who he is. If you want to check out which of his works are available for use, or learn more about him, head over to his artist listing to get started! Would it surprise you if I told you we still have even MORE to come? Believe me when I say we are barely scratching the surface! Stay tuned for more throughout the coming months.
Our loving father deadbeat has a new storyboard showcase for our eyes to feast on! This time, it looks to be something a little more flashy than usual. I mean that literally! Watching this in the dark might not be such a great idea. Remember to always watch TV a good distance away from the screen and in a well lit room!

Scorewatch: February Week 2 (With Scorewatch Patrol)
[Toy]s our boy managed to reverse choke DragonForce - Defenders with a HR 98.41% 2427 max combo play, setting a 593pp score. This basically meant he lost about 72pp, which is absolutely heart breaking, but a very impressive score nonetheless. Only 3 players have managed a better HR accuracy than him, and 2 have a higher pp score. Check it out, it’s nuts.
youtube
Hey, guess who also tried the same map? Cookiezi of course! This man has had no breaks this year, and this play is nothing original. How about a HDHR 98.64% FC granting him 718pp? The man with a HDHR mission continues to dethrone many famous maps such as Defenders, and has solidified the crown on this map and overthrowing the 669pp HR play set by WubWoofWolf. Amazing.
youtube
sobatsuyu pulled off an interesting HRDT mod combination on Resonecia - Legende, setting an unfortunate 99.55% 1 miss play to earn him 554pp. Pretty “legendary” we’d say, since this map is long and full of deathstreams
youtube
Somewhere, far and deep into the osu! scores, Tasha has managed to pull off a 99.59% FC on Kobaryo - Ponko2 Girlish (Kobaryo's FTN-Remix). This 9.74* map is seriously technical based, with notes coming in fast and slow, requiring precision and accuracy. I’d say 1:11 is my favourite part of this play. Check it out.
youtube
Ttobas seemed to have forgotten how to play osu!catch as he went insane with a 99.64% EZDT FC on Hitsuji to Ojisan - XENO, scoring 745pp. Aim is pretty necessary when the BPM hits 279, simply outstanding in our eyes. I guess you could watch the fruits slowly fall everywhere onto Ttobas’ plate.
youtube
===NOTABLE MENTIONS===
Cookiezi can’t control himself as he managed to HDHR FC Seiryu - BLUE DRAGON on the BLUE DRAGON difficulty mapped by Blue Dragon with a 99.78% 687pp play. Pretty impressive we’ll say.
Angelsim left his quiet zone to set a 670pp play on *namirin - Koi no Hime Hime Pettanko with a 99.29% HDDT FC.
_yu68 came out strong with a DT 98.69% play on Imperial Circus Dead Decadence - Uta on lolcube’s Hell Oni, setting 479pp.
Zyph broke the speed barrier (kinda?) with a 99.93% FC on the 263BPM Loved antiPLUR - Speed of Link.
osu!mania 7K World Cup: And then there were 2
The osu!mania 7K world cup scene has been commanded confidently by Team China since the return of competitive 7 key to our repertoire of yearly tournaments. The former champions, South Korea, has been edging to get another shot at taking down the superpower to reclaim their title as the country home to the greatest 7K players ever known.
In line with a series of domineering performances given out by the South Korean team, it looks like Team China will be vacating the throne as champions of keyboard grinding for a new king!
All podium placers will receive the usual physical goodies as well as split a prize pool that will likely be announced shortly.
With that out of the way, it is time to say goodbye once again! But don’t cry, because next week deadbeat will be back to shower us with flowing juices from the fruit of knowledge. If you have anything you’d like to contribute to our lovely little publication, be sure to drop by the osu!dev discord and drop either me or deadbeat a highlight. Otherwise, our usual inbox, [email protected] is open and ready to take in whatever you have to throw at it!
