Crossover Nexus.
Tumblr media
The MSPFA Crossover comic - Crossover Nexus
That's right, one with a lot of (mostly) Recent fanventures. Its essentially about fanventure characters being trapped in a place called the Nexus and escaping it.
Tumblr media
Comic will go live on December 7th so wait till then. I've been making a lot panels these past two months and I'm finally ready to go public!
If any fanventure creators want their fanventure featured in crossover nexus fill out this form!
The form was built off the assumption that the first section was released so if there are any questions ask me.
(Disclaimer: Not to be confused with any crossover nexus of any other name.)

okay so I dont know a lot about the count of monte cristo but i did watch a my little pony animatic when i was like 10 and the prospect of pierre possibly betraying bbh reminded me of it so hear me out
In this scenario bad would be Esmund Dantes, the man theyre conspiring to get thrown in jail
I think Foolish would be Villefort, but instead of protecting his father he's protecting Cellbit from being arrested, blaming bad for the crime
Danglars would be Pierre, in this scenario it'd be more like he wants to take over the position rather than Dantes taking it for himself and Danglars enacting revenge, i could see this happening between them
And as for Mondego i think that would be Bagi! Tina would be who she's vying for, and im reminded of in purgatory 1 when Bagi willingly baited bad into a failed ambush attempt. I wasn't 100% sure who i was gonna have for this bc i dont see bad ever committing to a relationship but i like demontrio and bad and tina have an interesting dynamic i could get behind and i think bagi would support Foolish in this situation
youtube
Im also thinking about "I know those eyes/This man is dead" but instead of figuratively its literally, with bbh becoming a whole new person quite literally. Perhaps someone less kind than before, perhaps someone more vengeful 👀
youtube
just some thoughts!!!!!! i want more peoples opinions on this too mayhaps....

hi Amtrak, do you happen to know when the new line between the twin cities and Chicago will start running??? I want it, gimme
According to MNDOT the first trains could start running this year but that seems somewhat unlikely and construction will finish in 2025

The Cerulean Motley Crew / Alabaster crossover: a conclusion
Here we are! The end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. The largest crossover in the history of MSPFA, part 1: concluded.
Tumblr media
Chever and Govani running away from a Daybreaker in Alabaster
I first came to Phoenix "Cerulean Snake" 25th May 2023 with a simple proposition: "Hey! What if I drew a special cameo with Chever in Alabaster, 20-30 panels maybe?". I admired The Cerulean Motley Crew and was very interested to honour Phoenix's work in this special way. As two neurodivergent nonbinary people with progressive sensibilities, a love for dick jokes, and a quest for passion in art, we got along fabulously, and the plan quickly developed into something more ambitious.
Tumblr media
Pearl-Eye and the Naturalist Shaduenna hunting Apocalizards in The Cerulean Motley Crew
We finally set on a TRIPLE CROSSOVER. There would be a full set of scenes featuring Chever and Govani in Alabaster, drawn by me, as well as two shorter sets of scenes featuring Sectra and other members of the Alabaster cast in The Cerulean Motley Crew and its scifi Victorian horror sequel, drawn by Phoenix. Those would not be simple cameos: Phoenix's characters would impact the fate of the Alabaster characters and vice versa, while reverberating important themes of both stories. In terms of worldbuilding, since both Phoenix and me took larger lore consistency seriously, it would also mean our interpretations of the Homestuck universe would merge.
After a lot of discussions, we defined the C.H.A.O.S. setting, a specific, while canon-compliant, way to explore Paradox Space, and more particularly the many ages of the Alternian empire. We talked about xenobiology, technology, culture and time-travel issues. This was huge work.
More important even was to structure the intersecting parts right. We exchanged and revised designs over and over again. Since the TCMC sequel, set at the same time as Hivebent and Alabaster, would focus on special, mutant strains of Rainbow Drinkers, we started working on original ideas for vampires, ending up with the Daybreaker concepts. Phoenix was open to new ideas, and I was uninterested in making classical, Dracula style vampire, I wanted a radical monster design. We worked much on the creature in order to define its various stages of development.

Daybreakers on the move in Alabaster
We also worked on environment design, vehicle design, and I produced Guardian sprites for Phoenix's characters, since unlike Vamuin's team, they are middle-aged adults, and destined to assume a protective role for the young woman during the crossover.

Chever and Govani appear as Guardian sprites in Sectra's perspective
A fundamental part of the approach was for the crossover to serve the story, rather than for the story to serve the crossover. Both Alabaster and TCMC were to remain autonomous narrations, tales you could follow WITHOUT looking at the other one. There are elements which escape you if you only read one or the other, but nothing vital. We didn't want to force our readers to read each other's story, or for them to be some kind of hollow advertising. You can limit yourself to one of these stories. You will just get A LOT of extra kicks if you read both!

Reference sheet for Dolcea, Sectra's Ancestor, drawn by yours truly
As some readers know, I'm a relatively rigid writer. The main structure for Alabaster: The Doomed Session is ready since 2010, and when coming back to the adventure, I had every intent to follow it. That is still the plan. I had to do some calibrations for the detail of scenes and themes, though, and the TCMC crossover fit right in. In fact, the 2011-2013 chapters of Alabaster ALREADY contained a special arc for Sectra, her unseen visit to Kandiza City, which I used as solid ground to anchor the crossover. Sectra DOES come through various trials in Kandiza, and I decided it would be the theater of her initial encounter with Chever and Govani.
You do not see the Kandiza scenes in Alabaster. You merely get a glimpse of it. I set a four-panels flashback in my Chapter 5 as a hook for these sequences, which would then be featured fully in Phoenix's work. The flashback also prepares the field for Chever and Govani's appearance later in the same chapter. And then it was just a matter of writing these scenes in cooperation with Phoenix, and to draw them. For every drawing, every revision of the dialogue, I checked with Phoenix. We kept modifying and refining concepts along the way.
Tumblr media
Jujuju's prophecy, an important plot point in Alabaster, a vision appearing in TCMC
Now the Alabaster: The Doomed Session part of the project is concluded. It took next to 5 months, amounting to 165 exclusive panels, but we did it. A page of Sectra's story is turned, and Chever and Govani leave the story in their repaired buggy.
Huge thanks to Phoenix! It's been a blast working with you, my friend. And… it will be a blast again! For if TCMC in Alabaster is done, Alabaster in TCMC is approaching; in fact, Phoenix's work already contains the hook to some crossover elements, again, a flashback announcing future appearances. I can't say more, for it's up to Phoenix to tell this part of the records.
For now, I'll get back to Alabaster proper. Stay tuned, huge scene incoming!
