Tom & Dogs
The theme of dogs in this show. Pt. 2 of 2.
Hudson.
I believe Hudson was more Tom’s dog than Liz’s.
In 1x1-
Liz: Is this pee? I’m standing in pee, babe. Tom: He’s your dog, too. Liz: Yeah, thanks a lot. I’m gonna smell like a urinary tract infection on my first day!
In 1x5-
Tom: Get her, Hudson! Get her!
Liz had Hudson up until she was framed. Ressler mentioned her dog in 2x17. Liz went on the run, Tom took off on his boat.
Tom is the one who brought Hudson back in 3x12, and as far as I know, he hasn’t been seen since.
Tom: If you don’t want to do it for us, then do it for our kid. Liz: Our– our kid? Tom: Mm-hmm. Come here, buddy! Hey, there he is, Hudson!
If I were to guess, I’d say Ellie has him.
Wile E. Coyote.
Garrick in 1x9: "Do you remember that Road Runner cartoon where the Coyote makes the mountain of TNT and gunpowder barrels?"
Road Runner is a cuckoo bird. This brings me to cuckoo clocks.
Red in 4x2: “After I shoot you, sir, you will be locked in an airtight, concrete crypt, unless you tell me what I need to know before those figures stop dancing.”
Red in 4x13: “You’ll find your time with her goes by too quickly. That’s why cuckoo clocks are perfect. I don’t really care what time it is. I just want to hear the birds sing.”
Wile E. Coyote is also an enemy of Bugs Bunny.
Agnes in 4x2, wearing a bunny outfit.
Agnes’ crib mobile in 4x7.
The Hen House.
The Major in 2x17: “My uncle was a farmer. He had a beautiful border collie- smart, well-trained, loyal as hell- but one summer, that dog, he got into the hen house, killed half the chickens. My uncle loved that dog, but he knew he had to be put down.”
Agnes would more likely be considered a chick, and Liz, a hen. In 1x18, “Craig Keen” refers to Liz as a chick: “This chick is smart.”
A deleted scene from S3 gives us a dog drawing above Agnes’ bassinet.
Soundtrack for 1x11: The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. “Then the father hen will call his chickens home.”
Dog-Eat-Dog World.
In 2A, Tom is chained up like a dog, kept prisoner on a ship by Liz.
Tom in 3x5: "Human dog fighting. People die.You don’t want to bet on that."
Tom and Asher chained up like dogs in 3x6.
In 3x8, Tom puts Karakurt’s tracking chip in the collar of a man’s dog.
Gina in 3x13: “This is Mr. Fox, our inside man.”
This one feeds to Dr. Adrian Shaw’s episode. One of her victims is named Mr. Fox.
Tom feeding a dog donuts in 3x23.
Tom in 4x3: “Time for our feeding?”
Red’s response: Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. He’s here for your protection.
This one feeds to Kate in 4x19: “Oh, Raymond. You may have bitten the hand that feeds you this time, dearie.”
I believe this is a deleted scene from 4x11.
In 4x12, Tom gives this guy a wolf whistle.
This feeds to my whistlers theory post, which can be found here.
Soundtrack from 4x12: Heartbeats by José González “And you, kept us awake with wolf teeth.”
Red in 4x17: “As I feared would happen, elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night. I put Tom Keen in her life to keep an eye on her, and he married her.”
