For the last few weeks, I’ve been going through it. First there was the constant stream of news about the disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 on Black communities, then came the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade at the hands of police and the wrongful death of Ahmaud Arbery. Meanwhile I’m navigating this pandemic along with everyone else, and trying to figure out how to make a positive impact along the way. It’s been dizzying. And I know I’m not alone.
According to Naj Austin, founder of the social community for people of color Ethel’s Club, all of those complex feelings and mixed emotions are normal in times of crisis and collective trauma. Ethel’s Club, which previously offered free mental health counseling for members in its Brooklyn location, has now transitioned to a digital model. “The great thing about a healing space like Ethel’s Club is that it takes our identity, and everything that comes with that, into account. You can’t talk about these complex feelings without talking about Blackness.” The club’s online community is hosting free, hour-long grieving sessions twice monthly.
For many Black people practicing social distancing, the need for virtual resources has never been more clear. So, I’ve compiled a list of six more mental health resources, in addition to Ethel’s Club, that are providing virtual support to the Black community right now. However you choose to grieve, process, and/or stand in solidarity, remember that you’re not alone, and that your personhood and wellness still matter.
Dive in Well
Maryam Ajayi founded Dive in Well, an organization offering digital classes on various wellness practices, to create a more inclusive wellness industry. Dive in Well hosts donation-based digital events like breathwork classes and therapy sessions aimed at centering self care.
Sista Afya
This Chicago-based, community-driven organization provides women from across the Black diaspora with low-cost group therapy sessions, workshops, and free online conversations known as Online Sista Support Groups, which cover topics like managing the stress sparked by consuming news.
Healhaus
Founders Darian Hall and Elisa Shankle created this space in Brooklyn to provide accessible and inclusive wellness to their community. HealHaus is currently closed, but their ethos has continued virtually through live streamed classes, including a healing cypher for men of color.
Therapy for Black Girls
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford founded this organization to combat the stigma around therapy that might otherwise prevent Black women from seeking care. Now, TBG has become a successful podcast, a directory that aims to connect women with culturally competent therapists, as well as a private community Facebook support group. The organization holds free group support sessions weekly on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. EST.
The Nap Ministry
Performance artist and poet Tricia Hersey founded The Nap Ministry to champion Black rest as a form of reparations and resistance against burnout culture and capitalism. While she normally hosts free pop-ups where visitors can take brief naps and workshops in the Atlanta area, Hersey has been using Instagram to provide mini sermons about the importance of slowing down and getting more sleep when you’re a Black person fighting oppression day-in and day-out.
Inclusive Therapists
Austin-based therapist Melody Li founded the Inclusive Therapists database to provide therapists with training for racial trauma and connect people of all identities, abilities, and bodies with culturally sensitive care. Li herself, and many other therapists in the Inclusive Therapists network, offer reduced-fee teletherapy options to ensure that financial limitations do not keep people from pursuing care. Decolonizing Therapy and Viva Wellness are two other therapy practices with active online platforms.

Brazil gas transportation firms plan to invest US$2bn by 2026
The five-year investment plans of natural gas transporters in Brazil involve around 10bn reais (US$2bn), Rogério Manso, the president of the local gas transportation companies’ association, told the Blue Ocean Gas & Energy Week on Monday.
Among projects planned or underway are Transportadora Gasoduto Bolívia Brasil’s (TBG) capacity expansion of the southern stretch of the Bolivia-Brazil gas pipeline Gasbol and the connection of New Fortress Energy’s LNG regasification terminal to its network.

Petrobras and EIG near deal for Bolivia-Brazil gas pipeline, say sources
State-run Brazilian oil company Petrobras is close to reaching an agreement to sell to U.S. private equity firm EIG Energy Partners control of a natural gas pipeline that connects Bolivia and southern Brazil, three people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
Petroleo Brasileiro SA, as the company is formally known, is expected to receive more than $500 million for the 51% stake in TBG, added one of the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss private negotiations. The bid could reach up to $1 billion depending on details of the talks.
Under negotiation is Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolivia-Brasil (TBG), which operates the Brazilian section of the pipeline, called Gasbol.
The roughly 2,600 km (1,600 mile) pipeline system is the main transportation network for natural gas in the south of Brazil. It generated more than 900 million reais ($180 million) of operating profit for its owners in the first nine months of last year.

Facebook Advertising on Weekends: Is It Really More Effective?
[ad_1]
Businessmen who use Facebook for their ad campaigns are continuously looking for more and more ways to promote their business using this social networking site. Facebook is home to almost 1 billion subscribers from all parts of the world. Aside from individuals, Facebook also acts as an information mediator between celebrities and fans, businesses and clients, groups and members, and many more. Advertising on Facebook is deemed to be very effective those who tried using it reported a 30% increase on their revenue.
If you have been using Facebook to promote your business, you are probably wondering if there are other ways that can help you boost the number of your page's followers. Well, one popular notion is that ads that run during weekends are more effective than those that are flashed during the weekdays. Interesting, isn't it? If you want to find out if this claim is true, read on.
The Myth: Weekend Advertising
As more and more people discover the benefits of using Facebook advertisements, more and more studies and researches are being conducted to improve the results of these ads. One of these new ways is weekend advertising. Weekend advertising operates on a very simple notion: the number of Facebook users is much higher during weekends, which enables businessmen to target a larger number of people and entice them to buy from their website.
The weekend advertising principle is also true for other social networking sites such as Twitter, Multiply, and Tumblr. In fact, a site called tweetclock.net, reported that the number of people who log in their Twitter accounts are 40% higher on weekends than on weekdays. Researchers reflect the same on Facebook.
Given that, weekend advertising is a fairly simple concept that small businesses can use to help boost their following on Facebook. But, one question still remains, is it really effective?
The Proof
A research conducted by TBG digital, a social media analyst, concluded that advertising on Facebook during weekends is indeed more effective than advertising on weekdays. The research panel studied some 66 billion impressions which are recorded for a span of three months. Their research found out that ads perform their best during Saturdays and they are at their worst when Monday comes. The average for Saturday is 12% higher than the Monday average.
TBG Digital studied the click through rates which are closely proportional to the cost per click of an ad as well as its cost per impression. Ads which have a higher CTR are shown more frequently while those with a low CTR has to have a higher bid to be flashed as frequently as the others. However, another way of driving a higher CTR is to schedule their ads to be shown during weekends when the number of potential customers is higher.
Simon Mansell, TBG's Digital CEO said that the reason for this conclusion is that weekends are generally allotted for relaxation and free time. People who are out of school and offices find the time to catch up on their social media life and thus, are likely to come across an ad or two. Another reason is that people who use Facebook during weekends tends to concentrate on their News Feed since they access Facebook during their breaks. On weekends, they have more time to wander through the site and they tend to see ads and click through them.
As the author of this article, I personally surveyed 100 Facebook friends and asked them the same question. These 100 people hail from at least five countries and each has a lifestyle somewhat different from the others. Surprisingly, only 26 said that weekday ads work better for them. Some of the reasons they gave were:
· Access through Facebook is through offices and schools during weekdays
· Weekends are for mauling and spending some time for the family
· Computer maintenance and repair are generally done during the weekdays.
The remaining respondents said that weekend ads work better for them since they have more idle time spent on the page which entices them to click an ad. Also, the greater majority said that they have more time for Facebook during the weekends than on weekdays.
The Ad Campaign
Of course, these studies do not assure that you can surely get a boost for your revenue when you apply the weekend ad theory. In order to take advantage of this principle, you have to make sure that your ads are striking enough to catch the attention of your targeted audience. Also, create ads that are far from the ordinary and delivers the message in a simple yet effective way.
If you manage a fan page for your business, posting status updates, photos, and others on your page during weekends is likely to draw people to your business page and get to know more about your product. Engaging your fans in a simple trivia question can also help to draw them to your site.
The weekend ad principle is found to be more effective for businesses that target kids and teenagers. However, using your own unique brand of creativity and of course, some determination, you can use this principle to turn your business to the business that everyone knows about.

The State of Construction Safety
By Brian Binke
Some construction employers prioritize productivity over safety. Although meeting deadlines is important in the construction industry, it should never come at the cost of a human life. Collapsing building materials, overhead power lines and heavy machinery are just a few of the potential dangers in commercial construction jobs that can all be avoided with the proper safety protocols.
Continued Safety Concerns A majority of Americans who were surveyed and working in construction feel that company productivity outranks their safety concerns. The National Safety Council survey also included some other interesting statistics regarding construction safety. EHS today first reported on a few of the important statistics from this survey:
32 percent feel management ignores an employee’s safety performance when determining promotions.
62 percent say everyone is involved in solving job safety issues.
63 percent of employees feel they work in areas or at stations that are ergonomically correct.
48 percent of employees believe safety meetings are held less often than they should be.
47 percent believe performance standards are higher for job tasks than for safety. This percentage is higher among construction industry workers, where 67 percent feel this way.
33 percent of employees working in transportation and warehousing do not agree that management has a written policy that expresses their attitude about employee safety.
Tools to Improve Construction Safety Fortunately, there’s a growing number of new tools and trends being introduced in an effort to improve construction safety. The use of technology, like building information modeling (BIM), is already having a positive impact on project safety. Other technologies being used to help improve industry safety include mobile tools, drones and wearable devices.
More than two-thirds of contractors who use BIM (69 percent) state that it has a positive impact on project safety, a 27-point increase over those who reported that in 2012.
More than half of those reporting that positive impact attribute it to using BIM to identify potential site hazards before construction begins, to conduct clash detection, to support prefabrication and to create 3D images.
Smartphone use is nearly ubiquitous onsite, and tablet use is widespread and growing. This allows for use of mobile tools like cameras to be used by 85 percent of all contractors onsite. The documentation of site condition and work progress is fundamental to many safety efforts.
Nearly half of contractors (42 percent) also employ safety inspection checklist apps, but use of mobile tools for safety training (35 percent) and to access safety and health websites (28 percent) is less common.
Almost one quarter of contractors (21 percent) use drones to promote safety onsite for functions such as reality capture that allow for digital analysis of existing conditions, and almost three quarters of them (70 percent) believe that these have a positive impact on safety.
While wearable devices like badges with coded electronic information and smart helmets are only being used by 13 percent of contractors currently, 82 percent of those who use them report a positive impact on safety. This suggests that as these technologies become more widely known and more affordable, their potential for improving job site safety increases.
