That ‘90s Show Reviews
Okay, throw out what I wrote in this post. I watched “That ‘90s Pilot,” and I did an organized stream-of-consciousness analysis-reaction. I can’t separate That ‘90s Show from That ‘70s Show, but I was able to think about T9S on its own terms as well as its connection to T7S.
In summary, watching the first ep of That ‘90s Show was like seeing a fanfic turned into a TV show. Some aspects feel right and emotionally satisfying. Some aspects feel totally upside-down and throw me out of the fictional dream. The series has potential to be enjoyable. It has canon character elements, but this is a future that extends from season 4 of That ‘70s Show, no further—excepting a few details taken from seasons 7 and 8 for coherency’s sake. Coherency’s sake sounds strange, considering how the T9S universe is cobbled together. But cobbled together is what the T9S universe is (and T9S creators / showrunners’ interviews essentially admit to this fact by how they described creating the show). As individuals, Kitty and Red are largely in-character but not fully. They’re a little off-model (an animation term). I’ll be interested to see how they interact with the new kids. Below the cut, you’ll find my detailed, spoilery thoughts on “That ‘90s Pilot”.
--Before Leia enters, the Red/Kitty scene, including when there’s a knock on the door, is spot-on. Red and Kitty’s interactions with Eric can be seen as in-character. But since they haven’t seen him since Christmas (i.e. for six months), I think Red would actually be less aloof toward Eric. If they saw each other every month or so, I can understand the agreed-on lack of hug, but in the context of not seeing his son for half a year—we see on T7S that Red does show his love for Eric, including hugs, in important moments. This was punchline over characterization. A more in-character and funnier way (to me) would’ve been them having a very awkward, blink-and-you-miss it hug and them acting like they hadn’t hugged at all right after. (And, yes, Eric looks like he’s barely aged. Point Place Time™, man. Maybe he looks older when he’s not in Point Place. It’s magic.) --Kitty talking about how Leia’s breasts are growing (“Your buds are blooming”) as her second sentence to her granddaughter’s arrival is both OOC for Kitty (she wouldn’t be inappropriate and creepy like that, especially in front of Leia’s father and grandfather. She would talk to Leia about this in private in a more respectful way, about how Leia’s becoming a “young woman”. This line was for the laugh. Punchline over characterization. --Glad that Red gives us the exposition that Leia is athletic like Donna. Also, Red’s joke in giving us that exposition is a solid burn on Eric. --Donna carrying all the suitcases upstairs herself is funny and in-character. --Eric mentioning that Leia now gets her period. Leia’s fourteen, on the later end of normal, for her to start having her period. So this choice is obviously for the reason of setting up how Leia is changing and growing up. --Donna NEVER called Kitty Mrs. F on T7S. Never. This is totally OOC. I can’t see her calling Kitty Mrs. F after calling her Mrs. Forman her whole life since she could talk. Yes, this could change in fifteen years, but I just don’t see Donna making that choice. Kitty: I wish you would call me Mom. Donna: I know. … Someday. Kitty: This weekend. Donna: Okay. Punchline over character. --I like that Donna became an author. At least that part of her character hasn’t been forgotten. --Eric being a professor of The Religion of Star Wars. Well, those of us who kept up on spoilers knew about that one already. Just continuing the long-running joke from T7S. At least his career involves one of the two passions the T7S writers gave him, lol. --Donna stepping, at Leia’s request, in when Eric goes overboard with his geekiness = absolutely see this as true to Donna and Eric’s potential parenting dynamic. --Gwen’s introduction / Leia and Gwen’s introduction to each other: Leia sees a freedom in Gwen that she doesn’t feel herself. She has Gwen-envy. (Gwenvy?) She recognizes parts of herself in Gwen she herself hasn’t yet expressed, and not e v e r y  relationship has to have a romantic element (nor should it). I’m all here for platonic intimate friendships  … Like Eric and Hyde’s. Which this friendship is clearly set up to emulate. Gwen has definite aspects of Hyde to her. The fact Gwen lives in Donna’s old room is a nice touch, and it leads to her making a very Hyde-esque joke / burn on Leia about how Leia’s parents probably used to have sex in Gwen’s room. We learn that Eric, Donna, and Leia live in Chicago during this scene. We also meet Nate, Gwen’s brother. He’s got some sexist attitudes. It’s a characterization choice that creates tension between him and Gwen, but it’s also for the “laughs”. --Tension between Leia and Eric shown through her rejection of Star Wars. Eric partly parents her through Star Wars … not sure if any of that needs commentary beyond the observation of it. I like that Leia and Red’s connection is shown in this moment, though (when Leia burns Eric about Yoda being a puppet, etc.). Still, I hope Leia and Red’s connection isn’t solely based on a mutual frustration toward Eric. --Nikki gets one line then kisses Nate, letting us know they’re a couple. --Okay, yeah, Jay gives me the creeps right away. Yikes. I’m sure this will fall away as Leia gets to know him, but *shudder*. --Oz. Punchline-giver. Like Fez became in T7S’s later seasons. Hope there’s more to him than that. --Hell. Nate to Nikki: “Jay’s had my back for the last twelve years, and you’ve got my front for the last six months. I can’t choose.” That’s … something. So bromance established between Nate and Jay. T9S has two Michael Kelso instead of one. We’ll see if that evolves. But, finally, Kelso gets to be in a relationship with himself? And this episode is taking “The Keg” (1x06) plot from T7S. --The first “circle” scene of the show. I liked the red herring bit with the smoke (I knew Red and Kitty wouldn’t be smoking up with Eric and Donna). I also like Red is in Kitty’s corner with Donna calling her Mom, but to use the show’s own joke: that minor subplot feels forced. --Oz’s line to Nate, “Kid vs. beer: it’s a tale as old as time,” is ripped straight from Fez’s voice (not accent, character voice). --I’m glad Nikki is written as an intelligent, savvy character. Maybe not in love (choosing Nate as her boyfriend is a detail we need to understand the reasoning behind in order to understand Nikki better). --Love seeing Leia’s strength come out with the woman who wouldn’t sell her the tap for the keg. She tries Gwen’s sneaky plan first then goes the direct (blackmail) route using logic. This is not Eric. This is not Donna. This moment shows us Leia is Leia. --Gwen’s optimism is an important, unique aspect of her character. It differentiates her from Hyde, who’s a pessimist. Gwen is also the obvious leader of the friend group (though not a dictator … from what I’ve seen so far). The fact Leia never felt free until her interactions with the Point Place crowd over this twenty-four hour period is sad and implies that Eric and Donna are controlling parents in some way. It’s also sad that she’s spent her first fourteen years of her life not feeling free (which isn’t uncommon). Leia’s dynamic with Gwen, so far, mirrors Eric’s with Donna and Hyde. Donna and Hyde both help Eric find freedom from the internalized discipline and control of Red in season 1 of T7S. --The fact Gwen isn’t put off by Leia’s declaration that she wants her and Gwen “to become best friends” is interesting. Leia is earnest and desperate to gain the freedom she sees in Gwen (her Gwenvy™ is showing) through becoming close with Gwen. Further, Leia’s declaration of wanting her and Gwen to become best friends mirrors Fez’s own to Hyde in a “Class Picture” (4x20) flashback that Hyde is his best friend. Upon their first meeting, Hyde essentially pledges to be Fez’s protector from bullies, which prompts Fez to believe Hyde is his best friend now. --This exchange … Eric: Leia Tattooine Forman -- Donna: Her middle name is Anne. Eric: I never agreed to that. I laughed, but wow is T9S leaning hard on the Star Wars jokes. Hence, Leia’s name. Leia’s middle name is the same as Kitty’s middle name, so nice connection there. Same as Eric’s middle name is the same as Red’s middle name. But where is Donna’s, “You chose Leia as our daughter’s name when I was too hopped up on the epidural during childbirth to disagree”? --Kitty and Red enjoying Eric and Donna’s struggles with parenting = totally in-character (but T7S!Kitty would likely try to intercede at some point). Donna being the disciplinarian (and Eric letting her / encouraging her to be so) is a detail I’ve discussed with a lot of fellow T7S fans over the years. The consensus is that we think this would be in-character. But that Donna pulls a reversal in Leia’s particular circumstance (not only supporting her kid’s choice to stay in Point Place for the summer but also praising her for it) is also in-character. --Eric acting like Red given certain stressors with his kid is another topic I discussed with fellow T7S fans over the years. His reaction to Leia and his foot-in-ass threat is in-character for him as a parent in this circumstance. Red’s reaction to Eric’s reaction is funny and, yeah, in-character. --Eric and Donna’s scene together on the hood of the car is very sweet and has depth. It tells us about Eric’s relationship to Leia, his relationship to Donna, and how Donna trusts Leia. I would’ve liked more Donna/Leia moments so we could learn about their dynamic, but the little we do get gives us an idea. --OK, I LOVE THAT ERIC IS KITTY TO LEIA (in some ways). He tells Leia he loves her without it being a struggle (totally in-character), and the smelling hair payoff (Kitty smelled Eric’s hair earlier in the episode) totally works and shows us how deeply Eric loves his daughter (as do all their interactions in this episode and Eric’s reactions about Leia to other characters). --Dude, Eric called Donna babe. On T7S, Eric never had good pet names for Donna. Never. It was even an on-going joke in one episode of T7S (season 7). Even though Eric calls her babe in this episode, it still sounds weird. It’s just not … Eric. --This ep overdoes Kitty’s infantalization of Eric. On T7S, it’s funny-uncomfortable. This is uncomfortable-cringe. --Red hugs Donna before she and Eric leave. Not Eric. Never Eric. No sign of true connection between Red and Eric at all. Just schadenfreude on Red’s part for Eric’s difficulties with Leia and contention except for Eric’s sarcastic, “I love you, too, Dad.” One moment between Red and Eric to establish their love for each other, like the awkward super-fast hug like I described above would’ve done it. --Donna calls Kitty Mom before leaving the house. Very sweet. But also contrived. This issue could have (and probably would have) been resolved long before now. But TV SHOW. Not real life. --Red’s utter fear at Kelso jumping into the kitchen and shouting, “Burn!”—hilarious but also awful. --Okay, okay … JACKIE IS ALLOWED TO BE EFFING SMART. Kelso: “[Jay]’s got his dad’s looks and his mom’s brains. He got all straight As last year.” T9S erases and cuts up T7S and rearranges what it wants. Jackie’s season-1 characterization of being a good student is returned to her, but so much more is taken away. BETSY would’ve been described the same way by Kelso as Jay. Captain Obvious: It would’ve been more in-character for Jay to be Brooke’s son, not Jackie’s. Brooke is characterized consistently on T7S as highly intelligent. It’s a consistent part of her character. I don’t ask for too much; I ask for what I’ll never get. Speaking of Betsy: does she exist? Will Jay ever mention his sister, who would be seventeen in 1995? --Kurtwood is clearly trying not to break during Kelso and Jackie’s scene. The laugh is being tightly held in. --*sigh* Jackie and Kelso’s second remarriage. At least that wasn’t a surprise. --The Jackie of T9S is who the Jackie of T7S season 4 would have become without ever dating Hyde. Canon-divergence utterly confirmed. --Where do Jackie and Kelso live so that Jay lives in Point Place and has been best friends with Nate for twelve years? Since they were both three or four? Point Place, obviously. Nate is Red and Kitty’s neighbor, which means Jay has been going there for twelve years. Which means Red and Kitty would very likely know who Jay is and that Jay is Jackie and Kelso’s kid. They’d also have seen Jackie and/or Kelso the last twelve years (at least). Make it make sense. --And Jay Kelso just made a sex joke to Kitty. Red: What is wrong with you? He’s a Kelso. --Eric’s Candy Land stash is no longer money. It’s pot. Except Kitty knew Eric hid money in the Candy Land box, so she would’ve checked that thing years ago for anything Eric might’ve left in there.
--Onto the next episode.

Hi, everyone! This week’s interview is with @jacquelineshyde / PoetDameron, an author who’s been posting her That ‘70s Show fanfic and poetry since 2016. Her prose and poetry have a gracefulness to them, in both imagery and subtext. Shades of emotion blend into one another, giving us a deeply complex and satisfying exploration of the characters.
The interview has been split into two parts. This is part 1.
Those ‘70s Comics:  What first inspired you to write That '70s Show fanfic?
jacquelineshyde: The bad ending. After watching season 8, there were a lot of things I had to say about it and about how things went down between Hyde and Jackie. It made me sick how the writers let go of such [a] wonderful couple and great characters, so I first started having ideas of how to fix the season; then I started ignoring the hell out of it and [created] plots out of season 7's mess. After a while, the ideas started to [gel] and make me want to try writing [stories]. Inspiration came quickly; it stormed my brain, and the words came out one after the other until I had three one-shots and two chapters of what today is Heart Like Yours (HLY: FFnet / AO3).
T7C: What was the first fanfiction story you ever wrote, posted or unposted, and for what fandom?
jacquelineshyde:  It was a five-page piece about dogs [on] vacation, written when I was five-years-old. A Lady and the Tramp fanfiction. Isn't it funny that fandom tends to compare that story with Hyde and Jackie? I must have a type for OTPs.
T7C: In addition to prose, you also write poetry for That '70s Show -- from Hyde's point of view, in particular. It's full of evocative, sensory, and sensual imagery. What inspired you to write poetry for T7S and from Hyde's point of view?
jacquelineshyde: The first poem I wrote for [Hyde and Jackie] is called “so don't lose hope”. It's about how Hyde believes Jackie always had everything but suddenly, out of nowhere, she wants him -- even when he has nothing and can't give her any (material) things.
This poem was inspired by Hyde yelling, "No, you don't!" at Jackie when she tells him he believes he is "the sweetest, coolest guy [she has] ever met" (”Moon Over Point Place” [2x26]). [That moment] made me think [that] he can't accept anyone thinking so highly of him (aside from the fact that she was [...] disrespectful of his personal space and life during those episodes [...]). Hyde's POV is very difficult for me. At first I thought it was [that] I had a hard time liking the character during seasons 1 and 2, but then I realized it was [that] he reminds me of two people in my life: myself and Someone Else. Someone Else always had this way of speaking that made me see the color purple in different tones inside my head -- and black melting into grey and then white -- and starless nights that get rainy, and I started to associate Hyde [with] all that imagery. My mind kept [conjuring] another image every time I tried to do Hyde's POV: a girl laughing on a comfy nest of blankets, with her cheeks pink and her nose red, and black hair everywhere on the pillows, tiny fingers touching his face, and Mila Kuni's bicolor eyes (I know Jackie's eyes are brown, but it's a mental image, and I've been liking MK since Forgetting Sarah Marshall). The image of the sun came afterward, and I thought of how much I loved my first girlfriend and how much I loved Someone Else, and the poetry came along. Hyde does show a [...] talent for [mental quickness with] words [in “Jackie Bags Hyde” (3x08) when he comes up] with the haiku (lol), and he is shown to read a lot and be insightful, a brilliant mind who tries to hide behind a lazy mask. [All of this developed into the Jackie on My Mind Poetry Project, written in] a black Moleskine, and a boy who tried to avoid the monster under his bed that turned out to be his own mother, [a boy] who then fell in love and realized it was possible for someone else to love him.
T7C: What's your process for writing poetry?
jacquelineshyde:  Well, I actually don't think I have one. When I write, I don't think, I don't eat, I don't sleep. It just happens. Poetry is easy for me [to write] for some reason. I never think about it because maybe if I do, I will try to make it perfect, and the shine will be gone. I tend to ruin my own stuff when I want it to be perfect, so I don't give it much thought. Maybe the solid answer would be that I get a word or a image, and I want to put it down in a [short monologue], and the poetry comes.
T7C: Does a particular mood, thought, or emotion you want to explore inspire the beginning of a poem?
jacquelineshyde: Most times, yes. When I get a prompt for poetry, the first thing I do is [make a] list in my head about what the prompt makes me think, then what it makes me believe, and finally what it makes me feel. This all happens in [a matter] of seconds, and then [the poem] just goes [from there].
T7C: What's one of your favorite Jackie/Hyde moments from That '70s Show? And what's one of your least favorites?
jacquelineshyde:  A favorite would be Jackie telling Hyde she can't stop him from breaking up with her [in “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” (5x14)] but that it would be a [waste] since she has fallen for him. I believe she knew [she loved him] for a while [before] that moment, and I also believe it wasn't truly her intention that her first, “I love you,” would come out like that, but she was also sure he needed to hear it (after four seasons of manipulating Kelso into staying with her and making it clear she was not going to let [Kelso] go until she said otherwise). Hyde is very vulnerable during this moment, and the entire arc is incredible when it comes to his feelings. She shows a growth she didn't have during her first relationship, and it says [a lot] about her and her relationship with Hyde. She understands where lines are drawn and that she can't control him or make him love her back. All she can do is love him and wait for him to understand it's real. And he does. And the one I hate, no doubt, is [in “Winter” (7x11)]: Hyde making this idiotic face at Jackie [when she asks] him if he seriously preferred to play with stolen toys instead of going with her [to the Ladies of Point Place party], even knowing he had broken a promise to her. It's the worst thing the writers could have done to him. The second I saw the moronic and asshole way he acts during this whole episode, I felt like it was the beginning of the nightmare that followed [during] the rest of season 7 -- and then the pit of despair that is season 8.
I hate the episode “Winter” with all my being. And, believe me, I'm going to quote my acting professor on this, "Don't underestimate Nina's capacity for rage out of dislike."
T7C: Of all the T7S fanfics you've written so far (or are in the middle of writing), which are you the most proud of?
jacquelineshyde: I must say I love my upcoming story Wear My Arms. It's a Hyde/Jackie Soulmate AU, in which one [experiences] the life of one’s soulmate for an hour, [as if watching] a movie. You fall asleep, and you see [your soulmate’s] life through [his or her] eyes for an hour. Hyde sees Jackie's life during season 1 when they aren't on good terms, and the story goes from that on. The entire fic is an ode to Hyde's complex character, his big capacity for love, how much he [grows] to love Jackie and -- through [his love for her, learns to love] himself. [Wear My Arms] has helped me a lot [in writing from] his POV and in my understanding of his character. Not to mention, this is literally the story of my poetry project Jackie on my Mind. This is the story where Hyde writes poetry and gets to see Jackie laughing in a nest of blankets. I'm very excited for other people to read this story!

Welcome to part 2 of my interview with @jacquelineshyde / PoetDameron, an author who’s been posting her That ‘70s Show fanfic and poetry since 2016. Her prose and poetry have a gracefulness to them, in both imagery and subtext. Shades of emotion blend into one another, giving us a deeply complex and satisfying exploration of the characters.
You can read part 1 here.
Those ‘70s Comics: What's a That ‘70s Show fanfic you've written that you wish had gotten more readers? Or you believe deserves more attention?
jacquelineshyde: I'm actually very happy with the response to all my stories. Maybe I would have liked a little bit more comments on Absolute Beginners (AB: FFNet / AO3), but it was always a risky project, and I'm just happy I got to put it out, and it got what it got. And yes, I know I haven't published the last chapter. But I need beta for everything.
T7C: Besides Jackie and Hyde, which T7S characters and ships do you most enjoy writing?
jacquelineshyde: I love writing Eric a lot. His POV is one of the funniest I get to work with [in a story], and his dialogues are some of my favorites. This is mostly because Eric’s is one of the first POV's I got to work on. I wrote twenty-six letters that are supposed to be [from him to] Jackie, for an upcoming fanfic that has become this enormous thing. I don't even know how I'm going to publish all that. A couple I love writing is Brooke and Kelso. I actually have two upcoming stories that are about them, and I have in mind an AU I want to write about them. I really, really like them. I enjoyed working in their separate POVs in Absolute Beginners, and they are probably my favorite t70s couple at the moment, after Hyde and Jackie.
T7C:  Who are some of your favorite T7S authors and why? What are your favorite T7S fanfics by them and why?
jacquelineshyde: My favorite author in the fandom is the amazing MistyMountainHop. I find her writing mesmerizing in a very deep way. Her writing is like a snowy day: it makes you feel everything to the point that you are numb, but slowly it gets you inside the house, to the warmth, to the hot chocolate and the comfy blankets, and the sound of calm and beauty. It's a force of nature. Her characterization is wonderful. The way she writes Hyde is my favorite in all [the T7S] fandom. She explores him perfectly and makes you feel what he is going through, and that's just an example. She writes the rest of the characters and couples just as good. It's incredible. I'm just really honored to be writing at the same time as her. My favorite fanfic by her is Made Bare [MB: FFNet / AO3], a fic I also consider my canon season 8. Other ones I love are Shade [S: FFNet / AO3] and Hyde's Long Way Home [HLWH: FFNet / AO3]. Perfect fanfictions.
[Full disclosure, MistyMountainHop is also the creator of Those ‘70s Comics and the runner of The Stupid Helmet. In other words, she’s me, and I in no way asked or paid jacquelineshyde for the inclusion. But I’m honored my stories are counted among her favorites.]
Another author I love and respect is nannygirl, queen of Red/Kitty fanfiction -- and also queen of fluff and family warmth. Her characterization is incredible. I love the way she writes Red and the relationships she  explores in her fanfics. She writes every character with respect and understanding. She makes them human, and it makes her stories so light and warm. It's the feeling of hot chocolate down your throat on a cold night. You close your eyes, and you can feel that sweet hug of your loved ones. My favorite pieces by her are If You Ever Did Believe, “Write this Down,” “Flashbulbs,” and “Mall Santa” (which is part of Stocking Stuffers, her series of Christmas one-shots).
T7C: What's your fanfic writing process like?
jacquelineshyde: Oh, boy. It starts with a notebook and a Moleskine. I write the general idea in the Moleskine and decide on a story title.
Once [I have] the title, here comes the notebook. [I make] a bullet-point list with everything that needs to happen in the story, most times in order, and then [do] a bunch of research. Research in cases like t70s is mostly about the scene at that time and, sometimes, just rewatching the show. I put down every bit of information I know might help me, and then I organize the chapters. From the bullet-point list, I write the chapters. I choose a certain number of scenes to be in one chapter and mark them with different colors to know where they start and end. Once this is done, I go to the computer and start writing. [During my time on the computer], the notebook and Moleskine are at my side, [as well as] vodka or coffee; and one of my pets [is] at my feet or sleeping [beside me]. Most times, I also write with music.
T7C: English isn't your first language, and you write beautifully in it. What, if any, differences do you experience when writing in English vs. Spanish. And are there any similarities?
jacquelineshyde:  First, thank you for the kind words; I hope it's true because it's a real struggle to write sometimes. That's also the difference. Spanish is part of me. It’s who I am. Words come to my mind all the time, awake and sleeping. I'm always talking, and I'm always writing, no matter the hour and the place -- or even the situation. I'm always writing. But when it comes to English, I have to make it fit. Most of the expressions I love and use constantly don’t exist in English, and I have to make sure the thing makes sense. Luckily for me, English also comes to me in a very easy way when I'm truly inspired and focused. Sometimes, I don't even realize I'm speaking the language when [I’m] like this. For help, I keep open Google Translate, a Spanish-English and English-Spanish dictionary, and a dictionary of synonyms on Google Chrome. I also have my wonderful beta, @that70sshowgoldencouple (aka nannygirl), who always helps me out with the writing. Other people who help me with beta are @lesspissedoffromantic and @itsreykenobi.
T7C: What music do you listen to when you write?
jacquelineshyde:
Eric Clapton's Forever Man anthology
Drive OST
Sing Street OST
About Time OST
If I Stay OST
Robert Downey Jr's The Futurist (amazing album)
Caro Emerald's entire discography
I also have playlists for the different couples I write.
T7C: What would you like to see more of in T7S fanfic, and would would you like to see less of? Themes, story ideas, characters, etc.
jacquelineshyde: A more well-characterized Jackie who isn't needy and infantilized in order to make Hyde look like this great and supreme being who is here to save her from herself and the cruel, cruel world.
No, in all seriousness, please ... I would love if Jackie could be written with respect. In fact, that every female character could be written with respect, that their relationships don’t define them, and the relationships between them aren't ignored.
I would love Eric [maturing] and changing after [his experiences in] Africa, [rather than being characterized as the less] mature season 6 and 7 [version of himself]. Less season-8 Hyde, less of the Hyde who prefers to destroy Jackie's heart instead of talking things [out] first, a Hyde who respects her and the people around him, who respects himself. And on a less picky note, I would love more good LGBT exploration and representation, more Kelso/Brooke, and a mature Kelso who doesn't have to stop being funny just because he cares for his daughter and has a woman in his life.
T7C: Any hints you can give us about future T7S stories, poems, or projects you're working on?
jacquelineshyde: I have so many t70s projects! For a start, on tumblr, I'll be starting another two poetry projects and a new project with Eric's letters, [the one] I mentioned before. Since I changed that story, I had to write [a new] set of twenty-five letters, and the original ones won't be used anymore. But I love those letters. So I decided to publish my favorite quotations from them and explain, briefly, their context. Let's see if it works. Upcoming stories -- I have a whole page about that on my blog: Future Fanfictions.
Wear my Arms is my next big project to publish after Heart Like Yours is done.
My biggest project is a three-part series that retells season 8 with a new twist: what happened seven years afterward -- and, finally, how it all comes to an end fifteen years later. Lots of work.
T7C:  If there's anything you'd like to talk about that I haven't asked, feel free.
jacquelineshyde: I admire the fandom and how warm it is. I was very surprised to find out that it was still pretty much alive and that people like to read and comment on one's work, even after more than ten years since That ‘70s Show ended. It's incredible.  I'm very grateful to be part of this fandom and the way it welcomed me. Thank you.
T7C: Thank you, jacquelineshyde!
Some of my favorite That ‘70s Show fanfics and poetry by jacquelineshyde are:
Heart Like Yours (FFnet / AO3): Jackie goes home to Point Place for Donna and Eric's wedding, but an accident and an unexpected experience may show her a reality she never thought was happening around her (Rated: T)
Year of Jackie (FFNet / AO3): It's a new year, 1980, and her friend is alone. Donna tries to make a better night for Jackie (Rated: T).
“A Good Night’s Sleep” (Jackie on My Mind)
“Wear My Arms” (Jackie on My Mind)
“She’s Magic” (Jackie on My Mind)
“I Thought I Hated My Name Until You Said It” (Jackie on My Mind)

Hi it's me again I just think what the writers were thinking by writing the show so horribly unsatisfying for us fans I know I heard they hated the show but if they hated it so much why they did it and why the show even accept them if they hated it so much that just super weird right characters of the show didn't do anything with their lives Jackie just got fez which is horrible by the way fez just got Jackie Donna college kelso nothing Hyde record store Eric nothing what do you think about it
I know I heard they hated the show
They didn’t agree with and disliked (by their own admission in a TV Guide interview, I believe), how the show, it’s characters, and the characters’ relationships had developed after season 1.
why they did it and why the show
Money and a step-up in their career. As far as I know, this was their first time being showrunners. It was a good move for them, despite that they created what David Trainer (T7S’s series director) called “an alternative universe, one of many possible futures [for the characters]” instead of honoring what they’d inherited and respecting how the show had developed during seasons 1-7. Instead, they depicted a different, bizarro version of the T7S multiverse, not the main one we know.
Sadly (and infuriatingly), that means we never got to see on-screen how the lives of the canon version of the characters’ continued after season 7. But, fortunately, good fanfic authors have written many in-character, canon possibilities for the characters’ post-S7 lives.
