my favorite thing about donna saying "word of advice - you can wear a suit that tight until up until 35 but no later" is that david tennant was about 35 when he originally left as 10. donna roasting the doctor even outside of the show. incredible

T3N Magazin: "New Work Chat" in den Top 10 der wichtigsten Podcasts

[ @rxbelling-hxrald | DM'd for a starter!]
The sun may have been shining out in the desert, but here in Sanden...there was the strong, central sliver of light that beamed down from the world above, highlighting a city surrounded on all sides by rock, with a near-unbroken ceiling far above. Layer after layer of the ancient stone had been hewn away long ago, creating walkways and staircases long-rubbed smooth from so many generations.
And of course, this city in the desert- one of the few saving graces of the unforgiving heat- was home to a not-so-small population. The city stretched for many miles into the mountainous rock, sand attempting- but never quite succeeding- in infiltrating the deepest depths of the space.
A few civilians glanced the newcomer's way. While many didn't know the names of more than fifty or so of their fellow inhabitants- it still wasn't hard to spot the ebony outsider. Multiple eyes flickered to this stranger as he stepped into the hidden depths, from children, to adults, to guards...
One such mobian had glanced the hedgehog's(?) way upon his arrival, grinning inwardly at the sight of an easy mark. They flicked their tail, a forked tongue snapping out of their mouth for a second to taste the air.
"Hello, fair sir!" The mobian greeted, sky-blue eyes sparkling. They gestured with a hand towards their wares- a grand assortment of fruit. "Would you care for a snack? Only ten rings a piece!"

i've been sitting with wild blue yonder for a few days now & idk, i think there's something to be said about what the not-things knew about the universe & how. the way that all they knew of the universe was anger & hatred & violence bc it's so loud while all the good is so quiet. donna tries to refute it & say that there's more to the universe than the bad but the bad is all that the not-things ever notice bc it's all they can hear. i dunno, man, i relate to that. i'm always hearing about the bad shit, on the news, from social media, it's always the bad shit & i have to go looking for any of the good. i worry about the people who don't go looking for the good, who maybe don't know to. what a terrible world we would live in if the bad things were all there was to it. is that the world that some people around me are living in, just by virtue of the fact that it's the only aspect of existence they can hear?
maybe i'm reading too much into it, i don't know. but i was really struck by the idea of being confronted with this twisted version of myself who is convinced that there's nothing but anger & hatred out there, bc they were never exposed to anything else & didn't know to seek it out. & there's something to think about considering our individual relationships with what kind of news we receive, what kind we seek out, & how we respond to it all.

Ten watched the kid slowly walk forward. She made a gesture towards the rune she'd carved into the ground, a reassuring smile on her face. Still, she couldn't sense it. Maybe it had to do with the other's total lack of Chaos Energy- but she couldn't be certain. She'd never met a soul without a sliver of fear...not even her brother, despite his opposing power...had lived without fear, without Chaos Energy.
Phineas' world, even just from sensing his absent space...was intriguing, to her. A place that was impossible to feel, on that level- it seemed like an impossible fairy tale.
"Yep!" Ten would have taken no offense. She had spent time off and on seeing cults and the like perform many, many confusing rituals.- All of which she'd have considered 'silly'. After all, what was the point in killing a chicken on an altar for someone who wasn't there to get the sacrifice?...well, she had been, but she didn't care for the method...getting off track.
For now, she was just glad the kid was willing to give it all a go.
Tumblr media
It would be a lie if Ten said she couldn't almost feel her real body tensing, resting in its near-slumber underneath the dirt. Her tail twitched as she spotted a faint light- a bright glow, nearly like that of her brother's- positive Chaos Energy. Or, as some might call it, 'Good' Chaos Energy. Either way...she was ecstatic.
"You got a spark...!" Even if it wasn't much- a split-second flicker- it was proof that even other-worlders could use magic if they focused. She nearly clapped her hands- her voice a muted whisper as six appendages rapidly moved in the air. It wasn't quite clapping- something just shy that produced a faint breeze, but nothing more. "I wasn't sure that was going to work...but if it did...!" Wait. She had to let the kid concentrate.--- But her excitement at such a discovery was nearly overwhelming.
The energy in the ring had dimmed somewhat.- It was very faint, but still detectable. Each ring had a unique amount of energy- but most of the time, the difference was negligible...as it was here, but still.
Tumblr media
This meant that Phineas would be able to have fun with the ring...!! Her tail flicked- so fast and so sharp that it caused a small wind.
Phineas had every intention of coming back some day. When exactly that would happen he couldn't say, but he was too intrigued by this world to just leave it alone. Not to mention that he did like Ten. They were a little strange, but the boy couldn't help but be fascinated by them.
To say nothing of the magic in this world, the energy.
And while he felt a little apprehensive he did walk towards the ruin. Magic wasn't something the boy had ever tried before, not like this, but he was determined. He by no means expected it to be perfect, or really even work, but he was willing to give anything a good try.
"Imagine it, will it. Got it." It sounded easy enough but this was a time where even the boy had to wonder, just a little, if he wasn't getting just a little too ahead of himself. A passing thought as he took a breath and began to concentrate, that ring held firm in one hand while the other raised. It helped him focus a little more on the ruin on the ground.
Tumblr media
Had he not just seen Ten do this themselves, the redhead might have said the whole thing looked a little silly. Staring at a mark in the dirt and trying to call on something unseen to it, something he didn't even know if he had any hint of control over. But a quick reminder that this wasn't his world, in fact an entirely new one, and he set those notions aside.
He doubted that overthinking was good here.
Not as easy a task to accomplish as some might have thought for the boy, but he tried his best and focused on the task at hand. He could easily imagine electricity flowing to the ruin, and found himself gripping the ring a little tighter as he tried to will it to be. To conjure something for nothing was still an odd notion, but...
...was that a spark?
