If I had a nickel for every time a show I watched had a cute, wide-eyed alien named Meap with a high-pitched voice crash their spaceship into earth while involved with a hunt for a dangerous criminal, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

T.S.B. Experimentation:

Attempt #1:

I made a spread where I showcased my typeface using different fonts and sizes on different words/sentences. I made one letter in each row green to form the word "oranje", relating to my river from pepeha "Oranje Rivier".

Reflection: It feels a bit scatterned. I could refine it more. Use my grid better.

Attempt #2:

I refined attempt #1 using my grids better.

Reflection:

This spread looks cleaner than attempt #1. I might want to change the placement of my font name and size. I'll play around with that a bit more. Maby make the font name and size a bit smaller.

Attempt #3:

I changed the placement of the font name and size.

Reflection:

The spread looks more balanced with this placement in comparison with with attempt #2. I like this spread a lot and am thinking of using attempt #3's layout.

Attempt #4:

I changed the font name and size placement to the middel.

Reflection:

I like the spread. I just don't want to use it, because it might look funny when I fold the pages and may not be super legible.

Attempt #5:

I changed the font name and size frames to a smaller font size. I also saw after one class that the "pt" comes after the number, so I changed that.

Reflection:

The smaller font and size frames works better, the attention is then on the words and not the font name or size. I like this attempt (#5) the best.

Making a quick animatic in photoshop of storyboard and an introduction to After Effects.

This was the quick animatic we made, in photoshop, of our storyboards.

The idea I had with my storyboard is to draw key assets from my type specimen booklet (image, letters, words, symbols, colours, numbers) and translate it into a moving format.

I really like the flower symbol in my typeface and is something that links to myself in the scheme of the pepeha. The image in the first frame links to the memory element (after my t.s.b. title and the images in my booklet).

The W is a significant letter in my booklet as it is the first letter of my last name, also a few of the names of my ancestors also. This was something I wanted to explore further with a focus on whānau. By have the names of all my ancestors tick over/morph/layer etc. with the common letter being W.

I also had an idea of animating the weaving of my tartan and somehow incorporating my family crest (?).

These are all somewhat disconnect animations and I don't know whether I will put them all together or consider them separate ideas. Unless I can combine some of the ideas into the other frames.

I can’t believe they went to all that trouble to rob us of David Tennant in Jodie Whittaker’s clothes by having them magically change mid-regeneration only to have him just. Immediately go back into the TARDIS for a scene change.

Like, if they were really so determined that he Must Not Look Silly for an entire episode, they could have had him change clothes off-screen.

Back cover:

I really like this for my back cover. I use my river (Orange Rivier) from my pepeha for the busy, big letter background and showcase the name of my typeface at the middle-top section of the page. It also connects well with my front cover. This back cover only having the name of the typeface instead of my title for my booklet (from cover).

Estive pensando em como existem pessoas nesse mundo sem amor ao próximo e com a falta de responsabilidade emocional, de como isso pode causar traumas e feridas em alguém de maneira profunda.

Hoje novamente não sei por onde recomeçar, como levantar, como devolver ao meu rosto o ânimo, ao meu corpo a energia, não tenho forças pra carregá-lo.

E todo sofrimento é inevitável, não temos um botão que impeça a tristeza, a frustração, o abandono, a traição. Tudo num só momento, apenas vem átona e nos engole tão rápido.

E ouvir da minha mãe “por favor não volte a ter depressão” me trouxe a realidade de que é fácil cair de volta no poço, de onde demorei anos pra escalar e sair.

É assustador estar de novo aqui e saber que agora eu entendo a minha depressao, entendo minha ansiedade, é assustador sentir essa dor tão imensa no peito, sentir e chorar, enquanto todos os dias perco cada vez um pouco mais à vontade de viver e existir!
