Implementation of Eco-Interior Cafe Design in The New-Normal Era in Malang City

This research examines a "garden house" café and co-working space, focusing on its eco-interiors in air conditioning and indoor air quality, aiming to inspire café design in the new-normal era. This type of café room is divided into outdoor and semi-outdoor areas.The "garden house" café welcomes guests to eat in a garden-like setting while working in a co-working area.

Gartenhaus uses natural elements like wood, stone, iron, and plants for its finishing, utilizing preventive design to minimize waste and enhance strength with minimal chemical use. The applied eco-interior theory explains how ventilation is used to improve indoor air quality based on eco-interior parameters.

VENTILTION:

The café uses natural air ventilation, avoiding air conditioning due to open spaces. The relaxed temperature in Malang City and the presence of plants create a comfortable atmosphere.The smooth air circulation provided by the semi-outdoor and outdoor cafe rooms ensures that any viruses present will be immediately carried away by the wind and replaced with fresh air in the café area. This café's use of ventilation considerably maximises the application of the eco-interior at the ideal time.

By positioning windows on opposing sides, cross ventilation allows air to enter from one side and leave from the other. This encourages ventilation and minimises the need for air conditioning. As a result, less energy is used. As a result, I believed that installing windows in Wilkos for natural ventilation for our project would be sustainble and cost effective idea.

The quantity of open areas facilitates easy air movement because of the numerous plants, the café area has a relatively high relative humidity, which contributes to pollution. Nonetheless, this issue can be solved by the café area's direct access to sunshine.

Plants are able to create oxygen that is good for people and absorb carbon dioxide gas. Sansevieria is one of the few plants that has the ability to absorb airborne toxins including trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, benzene, dioxins, and carbon monoxide. Sansevieria is an ideal choice for our cafe idea due to its low maintenance requirements and its benefits.

Open or semi-open areas with sufficient ventilation are preferred by visitors. In cafés of the new normal, eco interiors can enhance the quality of the air. Plants serve as oxygen generators and air filters, while wind and natural air movement aid in the replacement of viruses.
