Developing the lamp
I had intended to place the stick behind the flower lamp I had constructed, but I couldn't find the right stick or find anything like, so I made something that is attached to the ceiling instead. something the café is hoping to accomplish.

Tumblr media
Due to a shortage of time in my schedule, I wanted to research the same topics surrounding my location because I could reach it with greater convenience.
I tried to do get people to fill in the form to understand the issues however I had little to no cooperation from civilians.I realised that it was due to the fact that a lot of people living in that area didn’t speak or understand much english. Therefore, I decided to ask people my self in Urdu which most people understood.
I did some research before asking anyone any questions. In order to obtain the specifics of everything I needed to compare, I made the questions open-ended and summarised the ones I felt were more crucial to ask. After reading up on the best ways to approach strangers on the street, I discovered that you should smile at them and ask them questions if they respond. I've discovered that it's best to ask specific, targeted inquiries to prevent overwhelming individuals or setting up a confrontational tone in the event that they feel compelled to respond to my inquiry but choose not to share their true feelings.
Tumblr media
I received answers and found that most people were happy with the site except for the rubbish on the road. Since everyone could communicate in the same language, they cherished how well everyone got along. Speaking about socialising and the marketplace, there is a lot to do and it is also reasonably priced. a food and clothing mart stretching the entire road.
Tumblr media
Fresh fruits and vegetables, along with meat, are available to everyone. Since many people they know go "from outside of Birmingham to shop for food and clothes," it is somewhat of a privilege for those who live there. Particularly during "summer".
However, due to a lack of cleanliness, some younger people described it as a "ghetto" location.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the notes I made when asking questions to individuals.
Even though I had a general concept of what it's like to live on Stratford Road. I think the security of my primary research was lacking. This is due to:
Small Sample Size:
It was challenging to collect a big and varied sample size due to lack of responses from individuals and lack of time i had to continue asking on different days to get more people to participate, which resulted in a smaller number of respondents and perhaps unbalanced findings.
Subjective questions:
Particularly when it comes to subjective issues involving personal ideas or behaviors, respondents may give responses based more on what they believe to be socially acceptable or expected than on their actual opinions or experiences.

Needs of the plant and client.
Implementation of Eco-Interior Cafe Design in The New-Normal Era in Malang City
Planet
This research examines a "garden house" café and co-working space, focusing on its eco-interiors in air conditioning and indoor air quality, aiming to inspire café design in the new-normal era. This type of café room is divided into outdoor and semi-outdoor areas. The "garden house" café welcomes guests to eat in a garden-like setting while working in a co-working area.
Gartenhaus uses natural elements like wood, stone, iron, and plants for its finishing, utilizing preventive design to minimize waste and enhance strength with minimal chemical use. The applied eco-interior theory explains how ventilation is used to improve indoor air quality based on eco-interior parameters.
VENTILTION:
The café uses natural air ventilation, avoiding air conditioning due to open spaces. The relaxed temperature in Malang City and the presence of plants create a comfortable atmosphere. The smooth air circulation provided by the semi-outdoor and outdoor cafe rooms ensures that any viruses present will be immediately carried away by the wind and replaced with fresh air in the café area. This café's use of ventilation considerably maximises the application of the eco-interior at the ideal time.
By positioning windows on opposing sides, cross ventilation allows air to enter from one side and leave from the other. This encourages ventilation and minimises the need for air conditioning. As a result, less energy is used. As a result, I believed that installing windows in Wilkos for natural ventilation for our project would be sustainble and cost effective idea.
The quantity of open areas facilitates easy air movement because of the numerous plants, the café area has a relatively high relative humidity, which contributes to pollution. Nonetheless, this issue can be solved by the café area's direct access to sunshine.
Plants are able to create oxygen that is good for people and absorb carbon dioxide gas. Sansevieria is one of the few plants that has the ability to absorb airborne toxins including trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, benzene, dioxins, and carbon monoxide. Sansevieria is an ideal choice for our cafe idea due to its low maintenance requirements and its benefits.
Tumblr media
Open or semi-open areas with sufficient ventilation are preferred by visitors. In cafés of the new normal, eco interiors can enhance the quality of the air. Plants serve as oxygen generators and air filters, while wind and natural air movement aid in the replacement of viruses.

Ladana Cafe in Birmingham
My visit to this cafe made me recognise how similar some of their concepts were to our groups. I discovered that as I entered the café, they asked me what kind of atmosphere I would want. They have a variety of lighting and setting options for various types of consumers, including brilliant white light, dark themes, and since much of the outside space is constructed of glassan area with natural light and weather displays. You can still enjoy the café because it's indoors even when it could be pouring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was not able to find more pictures of the outside area. However you can see they have used glass as the roof top. I thought that was very intelligently creative. This made the view beautiful as well as useful as the costumers could also enjoy the rainy days and not just sunny days.

Light and sound
Light:
Tumblr media
Since we wanted to change what happens in this place throughout the day we thought it would be a good idea to also be able to change the light throughout. We decided to use yellow light for its benefits. It encourages happiness, warmth, and comfort. Besides, it has no effect on growth. In general, it can improve the way plants look, giving them a more vibrant strong aspect. This will give the location a more vivid appearance and draw visitors in, encouraging them to visit. Since the elderly in Loughborough complain about students creating too much noise, utilising this light during the day would thus encourage tranquility, which is what we are aiming to achieve in the community.
Tumblr media
Sound:
I went out during the day to capture this perfect sound of birds chirping and water running through the rocks.
Using nature sounds in a cafe should be pleasing to customers, considering individual preferences and cultural sensitivities to create an inclusive and enjoyable environment.
In cafés, the calming sounds of nature encourage enjoyment and relaxation. Additionally, they bring up pleasant memories of being outside, which improves the whole experience for visitors.
In addition, I think that listening to music generally stimulates and excite people. it may draw clients who will contribute to noise pollution. something we don't want because the majority of our consumers are elderly and we like a peaceful pleasant environment.

Building Collaboration skills
Each member of the team was given a distinct assignment to complete. Rou and I made the decision to investigate the location's acoustics and colour scheme.
Rou researched the light colour for this. To go along with the vibe we were looking for, I further expanded on it by using yellow light for a flower Lamp I designed.
This lamp was inspired by this vintage Lotus Lamp we wanted to put in our furniture.

I saw these resin tables that attract my attention as they resembled what we wanted in our cafe. They are ideal for our lighting concept since they shine in the dark.
The resin table is low maintenance and does not require additional equipment to make it glow. However, It does require extra care for the resin to last longer. This might be difficult to preserve as it will be used in public places, making it harder to maintain the quality. Therefore, I decided not to use this table idea for our project.

Issues in Loughborough
From Lacey's quiz, it was found that the main issues in Loughborough that the place is facing are anti-social behaviors.
Reducing anti-social behaviour: We decided to create an immersive place that changes throughout the day for all ages to be included in. During the day, locals will use it for business such as market space. as well as a workshop area for the garden and painting for the elderly. During the night it will be used by the students mainly for socialising. Bringing awareness to local shops: Small businesses that don't have a location to start can rent space inside our area to offer their goods, and local retailers are welcome to come and advertise their businesses.
Providing a place to hold events: this place can be used by anyone for any sort of performance.

Group discussions
Today me Jess and li started to research ideas for this national project. My group already planned to work in Loughborough and I decided to look into that. After Laras suggestion about the seaside not being used by locals at Barmouth. I instantly thought of the project the group created where they had the live sound of river flowing into another place. This gave me idea of 3D projecting one weather onto another place. So I started to research the rain room because I liked the idea of projecting weather inside building as I already know loughborough is known for its bad weather.
The Rain Room:
The first ever rain room was created in Sharijah in 2010 by Hannes Koch and Florian Ortkrass. It cost $11million Similarly, room was created in 2012 in London known as the Barbican Centre, the cost £235,000. It's has sensory valves the detect movement which stops the water flow. It's like sensory tabs in the toilets.
after dicussing the quiz created by Lacey we Realised people are worried about the antisocial behaviour.
I looked into the Coops Club tower bridge in London that was inspired after Emma shared her Barbican London. Where the inside and outside is covered in plants. Inside would be a coffee bar during the day and bar during the evening.
Tumblr media
I thought this was very creative by having Pods.
I also looked for more inspiration for our location that can potentially be our idea.

The first ever rain room was designed by Florian Ortkrass and Hanees Koch in Sharijah in 2010. It’s cost them $11million dollars. Whereas the one in London known as the Barbican centre cost £235,000 in 2012.
This made me think that the cost had probably declined as a result of more advancements in technology, therefore I reasoned that the cost would have been far lower in 2023 if we were to develop something similar.
This inspired me to look into how it operated, and I discovered that it has a 3D motion sensor that detects movement beneath water valves. The sensors stop the water valves when they detect a human entering the structure. Similar to the sensory tabs found in toilets.
