Lorien Legacies Characters + Styles of Dress
One- Surfer + Cute She always dresses like she’s about to go to the beach. She wears a lot of tank tops, shorts, sandals, flip-flops, wedges, Vans, ripped jeans, tie-dye t-shirts, flannel shirts, bikini tops, and cute tops and always accessories with sunglasses and a small crossbody bag. She also likes wearing silver jewelry and sun hats or baseball caps. Her outfits are always on-point and super cute. Her main colors are blue and white with tan and light orange accents. She also loves shorts with beach-type prints like waves and palm trees, thin jackets, and high-waisted shorts, and when it’s cold out she wears a jumper or knit sweater with a natural tone, and she’ll wear a button-up jean shirt from time-to-time. Her style is really laid-back and looks super nice even when she doesn’t really try as she doesn’t care too much about fashion but likes the style. Her favorite article of clothing is a white and blue gradient tank top she ‘borrowed’ from a store while with Wade.
Maggie-  Autumn + Academia Her style is really cute and warm, she looks like the human personification of autumn. She likes wearing scarves, cardigans, knit sweaters, stockings, skinny jeans, parkas, short and ankle boots, and flannel, long-sleeved, and button-up shirts. She usually looks like she’s about to walk into a coffee shop to read. She always carries a brown bag to carry all her books and accessories with plain gold jewelry- especially rings and earrings- usually has some sort of overcoat on, likes wearing layers, and her outfits are always precise and perfect. She accessories perfectly and her main colors are brown, black, and maroon with dark orange and crimson accents. Sometimes she’ll wear an overall dress and floral patterns so long as it has that fall-color palette, and she’ll wear the autumn style no matter the season. She’ll wear the perfect fall outfit in the dead of July without hesitation. She also likes wearing hair accessories like hairclips, headbands, bandanas, hats (especially fedoras, she’s one of the few people who can actually look decent in them), bows, and clips and she usually styles her hair really nicely when she doesn’t just put it down. She also steals clothes from all of the guys- mostly Adam, John, and Nine- like she did with Conrad cause they’re so big and comfy, especially on her. Her favorite article of clothing is an oversized maroon sweater Conrad knit for her.
Hannu- Trendy + Comfy He likes the classic, comfortable clothes most teenage boys wear. He wears a lot of sweatshirts and hoodies, brand-name shoes like Nikes and Adidas, sweats, jeans (most of which cuffed), zip-up sweaters, knee-shorts, khakis, and plain tees with the occasional turtleneck. Most- if not all- of his clothes are big and comfy and others love stealing them from him cause because of it. His main colors are brown and gray with black and white accents, and he owns most clothes everyone else own. He likes to keep it simple and straightforward and doesn’t care too much for fashion, but will experiment from time-to-time. He’ll occasionally wear a basic accessory like a woven bracelet, wristwatch, or chain necklace and a bolder color like yellow or blue every now and then but other than that he avoids anything too flashy or eye-catching. He also likes clothes fitting for long runs and playing basketball like tank tops, athletic shorts, and track pants. His favorite article of clothing is a black tank top with the Kenya flag on it he got while at the village.
John- Prep + Plain He kind of dresses like a white suburban dad (and Nine loves making fun of him for it). He likes button-up, striped, and polo shirts, khakis, plain tees, zip-up sweaters, jeans, knee-shorts, sneakers, sandals, and the occasional sweatshirt or hoodie. He owns a million different belts and sometimes wears a watch but doesn’t really like to accessorize. The number one thing the others hate about his style is his tendency to wear socks with slip-ons (it’s an Ohio thing), and he does it just to piss them off. Overall, he has a very simple and plain style. He doesn’t care too much about fashion but does like looking presentable, so he and his clothes usually look pretty neat and clean but most of the time there’s that one thing that tips his outfit off like a color that doesn’t match with the rest or an accessory worn with the wrong outfit, but no one bothers to point it out cause they all know John will just shrug it off anyways. His main colors are white and blue with brown, orange, and dark blue accents. His favorite article of clothing is a pair of lightly ripped jeans that used to belong to Henri.
Five- Emo + Grunge He’s the middle line between emo and grunge, really. He mostly wears skinny and/or ripped jeans, classic-rock band tees, Vans, Converse, leather or denim jackets, combat boots, faded clothes, parkas, distressed jeans, oversized shirts, black sneakers, and acid-washed jeans. He doesn’t really like accessories except a few pins and wristbands here and there, and when his hair has grown out too long and he doesn’t feel like combing it (which is most times) he wears a beanie to cover it. Overall he doesn’t really care about fashion (or his appearance at all) so he just throws on whatever he sees first and it may look bizarre at first but he somehow makes it work, even though he doesn’t really try. He also- to the others’ surprise- really likes floral-print, so he’ll be seen wearing a black and white floral-print t-shirt every now and then. His main colors are black and white with silver, dark gray, and dark green accents. His favorite article of clothing is a parka he got the first time he went to a non-tropical place during his run from the Mogs.
Six- Androgynous/Tomboy + Punk She acts like a butch and dresses like one, too. She usually wears army-print jackets, ripped jeans, sweatshirts and hoodies, button-up shirts, jeans, sneakers, trucker hats, leather jackets, baggy tees, flannel shirts, combat boots, and denim or leather vests. She rarely accessories but the few times she does, she goes all out with studs, chains, wristbands, pins, fingerless leather gloves, black accessories, and studded belts, and sometimes she’ll wear eyeliner (with enough begging from Ella), and other times she’ll wear suspenders, women’s suits, or polo shirts. Her right ear is covered in piercings and she has a diamond nose stud on the left, and it may not seem like it, but she actually doesn’t care about style. She just throws on whatever she thinks will look somewhat decent and leave, but it usually looks really good, though sometimes she messes a few things up like mismatching the colors. When she’s feeling nostalgic or she misses Katarina more than usual, she’ll wear a bow in her hair like she used to, and her main colors are black and blue with white and brown accents. Her overall style is down-to-earth, simple, and tomboyish with some punk-rock highlights here and there, or she’ll go full punk and it looks pretty good on her. Her favorite article of clothing is a black leather jacket, which was the first thing she got after she escaped from the West Virginia Base.
Marina- Hipster + Simple Her style is simple, but pretty cute. Out of all the Garde besides Ella, she probably cares the most about fashion and often wears fedoras, flannel shirts, jean shorts, stockings, beanies, combat or ankle boots, denim jackets, baggy sweaters, graphic tees, and cardigans with the occasional leather jacket (usually one of Six’s). She loves tying flannel shirts around her waist or throwing it into any of her outfits, even if it doesn’t match. She usually accessories with a bunch of stacked rings, silver necklaces, and sometime a bracelet, mostly beaded ones, but rarely wears earrings. She also loves layering, it’s almost impossible for her to go out- even in the summer- without wearing something over her clothes. She likes looking nice so has a very neat and cute style but doesn’t go overboard. When it’s cold out, she’ll throw on a cute knit sweater or nice-fitting long-sleeved shirt and also likes wearing beanies (a lot). Her main colors are brown and cream with black and tawny accents and while she does care quite a bit about fashion and presentability, she’ll always choose comfort over fashion. If she had to choose between a cute cardigan that itched and a plain and baggy but comfy tee, she’ll choose the latter in a heartbeat, but she’ll choose flannel over everything, it’s basically her trademark style and she owns like a million flannel shirts in a hundred different colors. Her favorite article of clothing is a dark orange and black flannel shirt.
Eight- Cozy + Eccentric His style will change every other day. One day he’ll be wearing basic, everyday clothes like hoodies, sweatshirts, jeans, sweats, baseball caps, sweaters, tank tops, baggy tees, and sneakers- the comfiest clothes almost everyone has just lying in their closet- and the next he’ll be wearing the weirdest array of bright, flashy colors and prints. He loves floral and animal-print shirts, silly graphic tees, skinny jeans, and bizarre accessories like fringe necklaces, friendship bracelets, woven bracelets and necklaces, and Silly Bandz (which are his trademark article of clothing). His right cartilage is pierced and he always has a small silver helix earring on, and he’ll wear the most offbeat and surreal colors together like a bright orange t-shirt with lime green skinny jeans and dark blue boots. They literally never look good but he doesn’t care (nor does he mind the staring from strangers) as he doesn’t care about fashion and just wears whatever he’s comfortable with, which just so happens to be the brightest, flashiest clothing and colors in existence. His main colors are basically every one with gold and silver accents. His favorite article of clothing is a bright yellow ‘Shut up, Karen’ t-shirt, a gift from Nine.
Nine- Athletic + Casual His style isn’t too bad when he actually wears clothes. He wears the basic workout clothes like track pants, zip-up sweaters, comfy t-shirts, workout shorts, athletic tops, gym shoes, and athletic tank tops that usually have a Chicago team logo on them (mostly the Bulls), but besides that he wears basic, everyday clothes as if he’s taking a quick trip to the grocery store like sweatshirts, large hoodies, plain tees, (ripped) jeans, sneakers, and knee shorts. Despite having the most money of all the Garde and living in a penthouse in Downtown Chicago, Nine doesn’t like flashy or expensive clothes and goes with the casual, daily clothes he’s seen the majority of people wear since he’s learned to adapt to and act like others around him while on the run from the Mogs. He also hates formal clothes like tuxedos cause they’re uncomfortable for him and he would never let Sandor make him wear one. His main colors are gray and blue with dark red and black accents and besides a basic watch and chain necklace here and there, he never accessories and usually throws on the first thing he sees when he wakes up. The others always steal his shirts and hoodies cause they’re so big, warm, and comfy. His favorite article of clothing is a gray sleeveless hoodie he had since he moved to Chicago.
Ella- Retro + Feminine Her style is easily one of the cutest out of all of them. She loves feminine, retro, old-fashioned clothes like striped shirts, cute dresses, flowy skirts, 90s band tees, overalls, button-up shirts, suspenders, sweaters, cute tops, shorts, and colorful sweaters. She usually accessories with sunglasses, bows, scarves, belts, bandanas, earrings, and small rings and always looks like she came out of a 90s romance film. She cares the most about her clothes and fashion so usually looks the best-dressed out of all the Garde with an exception for her lazy days where she usually just throws on a sweater and leggings. Sometimes she’s the epitome of the ‘Soft Girl’ aesthetic- baggy sweaters, denim skirts, scrunchies, white shoes, and cute t-shirts. Her main colors are pink, pastel purple, and vivid red with jean blue and soft orange accents and her style really reflects on her young and bright personality. Her favorite article of clothing is a red, orange, yellow, and blue-striped t-shirt she got while out with Marina.
Sam- Nerdy + Vintage For someone who doesn’t really care about his looks, Sam’s outfits are pretty damn nice. He mixes ‘nerdy’ and ‘vintage’ styles so he usually wears button-up shirts, suspenders, collared shirts, flannel shirts, plain jeans, zip-up sweaters, striped shirts, sweaters, and sometimes a denim jacket. He basically looks like Peter Parker if he was from the 90s. His style pretty much reflects his personality- nerdy, cute, sophisticated, and smart- and he rarely accessories besides watches and friendship bracelets he made for him and John. He won’t be caught dead without a zip-up sweater on, too. He’s obsessed with the things and refuses to leave the house without one, and he occasionally wears ripped or cuffed jeans. Mostly he likes wearing a collared long-sleeved shirt under a sweater and also likes funny shirts with cheesy jokes and puns on them. He doesn’t really care too much about his appearance or fashion, but enough to make sure his outfit isn’t absolutely hideous before he goes out. He usually goes for the comfier clothes and will often steal John, Nine, and Hannu’s clothes. His main colors are light blue, gray, and brown with cream and dark orange accents. His favorite article of clothing is a slightly baggy, dark blue zip-up sweater that was Malcolm’s.
Sarah- Fashionable + Girly She has the most feminine style, and it suits her well. She usually wears  dresses, skirts, halter tops, tank tops, high heels, sandals, silk jackets, ripped jeans, jean shorts, tube tops, denim jackets, and cute tops. She always accessories and does so perfectly with earrings, affirmation necklaces, bangle or charm bracelets, and plain rings, and every outfit is always on-point and perfect as she’s one of the only ones who actually cares about fashion, cares the most about her appearance, and always wants to look nice and presentable. She’ll occasionally wear comfier but still cute clothes like beanies or knit sweaters and always has a bag or purse with her to carry all her regular ‘human’ items, including her camera. She also usually wears light makeup like mascara, lip gloss, and a bit of blush and either has her hair down or nicely styled if she has the time. Her main colors are pink and white with light blue and gold accents and her overall style is very neat, cute, and feminine and shows what type of person she is. Her favorite article of clothing is a white off-shoulder top she likes to wear with a silk pink circle skirt when she’s feeling extra pretty.
Adam- Alternative + Dark He has that ‘dark but not emo’ style, on the border of e-boy. He typically wears black aviator, leather, or bomber jackets, long-sleeved shirts, band tees, ripped jeans, striped shirts, denim jackets, baggy tees, Vans, collared shirts, and dress pants. He likes wearing leather belts with chains but other than that usually skips accessorising besides the occasional earrings as he has quite a lot of ear piercings (and either a nose ring, snakebites, or eyebrow piercing). Sometimes he’ll even dress like a skater boy- Thrasher and/or baggy shirts, distressed jeans, checkered Vans, studded belts, flannel shirts, light studs, beanies, long socks, and graphic tees, and he loves black and white flannel shirts and pocket-grid pants and jackets. His main colors are black and white with dark blue and gray accents, and he adores pins. He owns about a million different vests and jackets (most of which leather or denim and either black or dark blue) and he loves decorating them with pins, stitches, and even safety pins on the sleeves of his vests. He has too many pins to count like the stereotypical alien head, a UFO, a pride flag, rock band logos, a skull, a smiley face, and other random things he sticks onto himself every morning. His style is overall a little messy but pretty nice as he doesn’t care that much about his appearance but likes the style. His favorite article of clothing is a black denim vest with a hundred pins and stiches on it Malcolm bought for him.

Suptober20 – Day 31: Carry on
Vacation at the End of the World (or the beginning)
(Approx. 1100 words – Post-series, family, fluff, Destiel & Saileen)
Something about the west coast sun just hits different, thought Dean, as he relaxed in his camp chair, basking in the warm glow of the crisp sunlight. Though the boys had travelled cross-country several times over on all their hunts, stops like these were rare and far between. The Midwest was their bread-and-butter, with only occasional dips into other types of scenery. Despite the long miles on Baby’s odometer, they had frequently still been landlocked during cases. A proper vacation had also seemed – back then – unthinkable. No longer. A beach, thought Dean happily, we finally made it to a goddamn beach. It was a good one, too. They’d done their research beforehand, and as promised, very few other beachgoers had made the short trek down to this little-known shore.
It felt like their own.
Down the beach a ways, Sam and Eileen were playing in the surf. Sunlight glanced off their long hair, and their smiles were pure and lovesick. They made a pretty sight, just another couple on just another day.
In the other direction, Cas and Jack were on a different mission. Ever since they’d started researching beaches, Jack could not and would not stop fussing about the tide pools.
“It says here,” Jack had said, pointing at his computer, “that if we go at low-tide, we should be able to see starfish!” Then he had looked at Cas, with that earnest and pleading look, and Cas had turned that same look on Dean, so of course the retired hunter had been helpless to resist.
And so they came at low-tide, just for the kid.
Now Jack had dragged Cas along to the rocky side of the beach, and the two could be seen bending down and delightedly pointing at whatever creatures they were finding in the shallow pools surrounding them.
Dean had not yet entered the ocean, nor had he got wrangled into the tide pool expedition. No, he was content to watch the waves come and go and feel the cool ocean breeze on his skin. Occasionally he would hear a snatch of carefree laughter, and it had taken a few times to recognize it as that of his little brother.
It warmed him to the core, that laugh.
After a little while, Cas and Jack returned to his part of the beach.
“Dean,” said a beaming Jack, “I touched a sea anemone!”
Dean grinned at him. “Sounds awesome, Kid.”
Cas came beside Dean’s chair. “I took some pictures, if you’d like to see,” said Cas, and he handed Dean his phone.
Dean scrolled through the images. Cas had managed some great shots: vivid orange starfish clinging to rocks, a giant crab crawling back out to sea, and lastly, Jack gently touching the aforementioned anemone, which was a striking purple hue. Even more striking was Jack’s face, full of childlike wonder and glee.
Dean’s eyes crinkled up as he smiled at the image. He handed the phone back to Cas. “We should get a print of that last one,” said Dean.
“Agreed,” said Cas. He placed a hand on Dean’s shoulder, and automatically Dean reached up with his own hand to link their fingers together. He looked up at Cas’s face to see the soft affection shining there.
“Maybe we should get a beach house,” mused Dean, and he was only half joking. “Make this a regular thing.”
Cas smiled. “Everyone does seem to be enjoying themselves,” he said. “Could be nice.”
Sam and Eileen were wandering back their way. They had their towels wrapped around them, and Sam was holding something out in his palm.
“Look what we found,” said Eileen. They all gathered around, and even Dean stood up from his chair to have a better look.
It was a small, light brown seashell. Sam held it between his thumb and forefinger. “Can you believe this is still in one piece?”
Sam was right. The shell was perfectly intact, and yet it was so thin that it was translucent in the sunlight. It was some kind of small miracle, probably, that could keep such a fragile thing together.
“That’s cool,” said Jack. “Should we take it back with us?”
Sam looked at Jack, then at Dean. “Nah,” he said finally. “Seems to be doing pretty good. It’s made it this long, it deserves its home here .”
“You’re right,” replied Jack. “We should find a safe place to leave it, though.”
Sam and Eileen agreed, and the three went further up the beach, near the cliffside where the shell was unlikely to be stepped on. While they were doing that, Dean and Cas looked out at the sea together.
“You’ve been kind of quiet today. Everything alright, Dean?” asked Cas.
Dean smiled at him, and once again linked his fingers with Cas’s. “Yeah. I’m just...happy, I guess. Takes some getting used to, to be honest.”
Cas looked at him tenderly. “I suppose so,” he said, brushing his thumb lightly against the back of Dean’s hand. “Can’t say you haven’t earned it though, after everything.”
“We’ve earned it,” Dean corrected.
“Yes, you’re right. We all have.”
They stood for another minute or so, and then Dean let go of Cas’s hand and started to shrug out of his t-shirt.
“Going for a swim?”
Dean nodded just as Sam, Jack, and Eileen returned to them.
“Hey, Jack, you wanna learn how to body surf?” asked Dean.
“Yeah, sure!”
Cas watched as the two eased into the water, both shivering slightly as the initial cold hit them. Dean began to show Jack how to position his body and how to time the break of the waves.
Sam and Eileen looked at Cas.
“You good, Cas?” asked Sam.
Cas thought about what Dean had said, about needing to get used to being happy. He could definitely understand it. It was hard to believe they were here, really and truly.
But he smiled at Sam just the same.
“Yes, Sam. I’m very good. How about you two?”
Eileen and Sam looked at each other, then grinned simultaneously. They turned, still beaming, back to Cas.
“We’re great,” they said, and Eileen signed it out as well.
The two set down their towels and headed back out to the water, joining Jack and Dean in their body surfing adventures. Cas took a moment to appreciate the sight of his family having fun together, on a bright sunny day that could be any other, now that they had the freedom to choose their lives at will.
Well, nothing left to do but join them, thought Cas.
So Cas stripped down to his swim trunks and then headed out towards Dean and the others.

for the lovely @kastlecastles and @devilbunnyking, thaaanks for your patience bbs
this is my take on frank’s post-s1 road trip based on the prompts petrichor/scrosciare (the pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain after a long period of dry weather/the action of rain pouring down).
Quiet when I’m coming home, and I’m on my own —
.
It takes some time. All he can do is drive, at first, miles sliding past and the thin line of horizon just above the dash. The land here stretches flat like an open palm. Just keep going. Wide sky, wide enough to swallow him whole. Just keep going.
So he does.
.
The Midwest is a scorch-oven. His engine overheats halfway through bumfuck nowhere, Illinois, and he spends the better part of an hour on the side of the highway, waiting for it to air out. Even out of the sun, the heat clings to his skin like wet paper. When he squints up at the sky it’s nothing but blue.
Looks like this heat wave might roll into next week! the lady on the radio chirps after he’s back on the interstate. Frank snorts and scrubs at his forehead, at the sweat slicked there.
He grabs a water and pack of gum at the next gas station. “And this, too,” he tells the cashier, swiping a postcard from the stand near the checkout counter. There’s a river in the picture on the front — nothing special, but he feels calm, looking at it.
He’s sweating through his shirt even in the few seconds it takes to walk to his car, and imagines sinking his feet into that cold river water, all the way to his ankles, leaning back on his elbows and shuttering his eyes, light warm on his skin and his toes slowly going numb.
Frank stares at the card a beat longer, then carefully slips it into the glove box with all the others.
.
Written on the back, later — Thinking of you. I’m always thinking of you.
.
(He buys the first one in Ohio. Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the script reads, against a backdrop of white roses.
You were right, he scrawls furiously as soon as he’s back in the car. I’m lonely. I told myself I wanted that, but I knew it was bullshit. You’re the first person who saw that. You saw right through that shit.
A pause, pen hovering —
I miss you.
.
He doesn’t send it. He doesn’t send any of them.)
.
Kansas. Dirt and dust and the road streaking ahead, cracked like shattered ceramic. The air conditioner busts just after he crosses the state line, so he drives with all four windows down, wind in his hair and ears.
He watches the sunset from the hood of the car, hoodie pulled up over his head as the sun melts behind the hills in the distance. It’s still warm, so he sits outside until it’s just him and the stars and the ache in his neck, from craning to look at them.
Just keep going, Frank.
.
Scribbled on the back of a Greetings from Colorful Colorado card:
You told me you wanted me to have an after. I don’t know what that’s supposed to look like. I don’t know how to live without the war. There’s some part of me still buried in the desert, and that’s something I have to come to terms with. That’s a part of myself I’m never getting back. I’m scared as hell. I’m scared.
.
The heat follows him west. He takes a two-day detour in Salt Lake, pays for a hotel room just to get out of the swelter. There’s a pad of paper on the bedside table, and he flips his pen between his fingers absently as he watches the news, cranking the volume so he can hear over the whir of the swamp cooler.
He’s never written her name. It’s easier, that way, to pretend he could be writing to anyone, or maybe just to himself. It’s easier than admitting the truth.
I’m not sure I know how to love anymore, he scratches out in jagged cursive, because this isn’t him, these aren’t his words. But with you, I could try.
(He dreams of rain that night, around him and sluicing up from his pores, his veins, tracking across the lines of his palms. It runs red, no matter how hard he scrubs. Red, always. There’s too much —)
.
Frank keeps driving until he hits ocean. It’s the middle of the day, but the beach is brim-full with people, college students playing hooky and kids screeching away from the shoreline as the surf rushes in. He closes his eyes, and for a moment he’s just — here, breath in his lungs and the press of sunlight behind his eyelids. A small, splintering moment of peace.
Laughter peals up the beach and he’s jolted back, swaying slightly on his feet. There’s a row of tourist stands at the edge of the parking lot, food vendors and people selling keychains and t-shirts — he grabs a plate of Korean barbecue and eats halfway down the beach, toes buried in the sand.
The vendors are closing up when he doubles back for a postcard. He picks the simplest one, just a picture of the Pacific beneath a cloudless sky. A blank canvas, the kind of place for starting over.
It’s a short drive to the nearest mailbox. He sits for a minute, leg bouncing so fast his calf starts to burn.
Karen Page, reads the first address line.
He drags a thumb across her name, then pushes the card carefully through the slot and drives away.
.
Printed in slow, deliberate script on the back:
Taking your advice. Hope you’re well.
.
He wakes up to rain, the heavy staccato of it against the roof of the car. It’s a few minutes before he can bring himself to move, blink the sleep from his eyes — when he licks his lips, he can taste it on the air, the smell of earth and things being washed clean.
Frank rolls himself up and crawls into the driver’s seat. The rain is streaking in diagonals down the window, and he presses his fingers to the cold glass before letting his hand fall to crank the window down.
The smell and sound hits him all at once, spray misting against his face and he stretches his hand out into the rain, palm up, an offering. Here I am. Here I am.
He holds out his hand. The water runs clean.

Right, so we all need a part two...
[A/N: Part two, because a lot of people seem to like this one! You can read part one here, or on my AO3]
The busted pipe dripped in a rhythmic motion. Itwas rusted around the edge, creating a small discolored puddle against thewood. Beca had tried fixing it more than once, and it always sprung through itsbinds. She had grown used to the sound and the scent of metal. It came with theterritory.
Shestretched along the back of the couch, the fire crackling almost drowned outthe water and the musty smell in the air, a book resting beneath herfingertips. She could taste the biting edge of the old pages, eyes scanningover ink that faded needlessly. She squinted at the words.
It was theCall of the Wild.
Beca hadwandered into the thrift store and the old woman behind the counter eitherdidn’t realize who she was or couldn’t tell through her thick bifocals. Sheprobably didn’t’ read the news, anyway, turning her awful hoarding habit into aprofitable business. Either way, Beca got a whole stack of books with darkenedspines for only twenty dollars, and she was slowly making her way through themwithout cause.
When itwas just her and her mother, they would go to the library, and she thinksthat’s where she learned how to appreciate print. She had registered for a cardand would sit in the back corner at one of the computers to fill out jobapplications. Beca would curl into a leather chair with cracked edges and thewarmest air and the brightest sun. Her mom would let her take home one book, and then it changed to two, sometimes even three.
Right now,it was cold. Everything about where she lived was. She had gotten used to thefact that there weren’t any windows here- and the air always smelled thickly ofsalt and sea life. The way no one else would hire her and now she would liveout the rest of her days as a guard dog for a port with no ships in the night. She liked it this way- alone and desolate. The lull of crashing ocean wavespulled her into fitful sleep and seagulls would welcome her with a cup ofcoffee and a morning run on the black sand beaches before daybreak.
The wallsseeped when it rained like this.
Becareached over blindly and pulled a piece of cold pizza into her grasp. She hadbeen living off of it for a couple of days now, and no way in hell was sheheading back into town after the last reaction she got. It was easier to pop aslice in the microwave, even if the cheese had grown thick with sourness. Shechewed slowly and leaned into the book before pulling her blanket further overher knees.
She almostdidn’t’ hear the knock over the crash of the waves and the shattering of thethunder. Certainly, didn’t expect it, but her body stiffened, and she struggledto swallow the rest of the food that was against her lips. Was it a knock? There it is again, three more times yeah.Definitely a knock.
The youngwoman peeled the blanket away from her suddenly sticky skin and walked acrossthe creaky floorboards that reminded her of a short story where an old man hadhis heart nailed underneath the parlor. It was a tale of guilt and deceit andshe remembered not being able to sleep for weeks afterward.
Beca couldalmost instantly taste the rain when she opened the door to the lighthouse. Itsoaked against her skin as the wind howled and the figure on her steps shifted,a raincoat around her bleedingly bright hair and contrasted eyes. Her lipswere blue too, from the cold. A thin line of blood moved against her cheek anddripped like diluted mud. She recognized her from the pizza shop. A pryingstranger.
“Can Icome in?” She called over the howling rain.
“What?”
“I said, can I come in? It’s freezing out here. I’m going to catch my death!”
Becablinked wordlessly and stepped aside. The woman’s boots squished, and they wereleft in a muted silence when the door closed behind her. Chloe smelled likemuck and metal, and a lot like that pipe that was busted in the corner but inthe least offensive way possible. She hissed and shook out her cold hands.
“I’m sorryfor barging in. My car, it broke down and well… it’s like that outside.” Shegave a weak chuckle that was wracked in exhaustion. Beca just stared and Chloeforced an awkward smile. “You’re not very social, are you?”
“Forgiveme, but the last time anyone knocked on my door I was dragged away inhandcuffs.”
Chloenodded like she understood, but she probably didn’t’. Beca didn’t’ know if shewas trying to scare the woman away- but after the other night she was sureAubrey Posen had warned the new girl in town to stay away from her. The rumorshad bounced around, and the police reports were still easy enough to pull uponline- she figured maybe, just maybe, if she was brazened enough then Chloewould fall in line with the rest- alienating and gone to the world.
“I googledyou.”
“Whichbegs the question, why are you here?” Beca asked, scanning her up and down. Shewas doused in mud. “The police station is a block east. The storm shelter twoblocks west.”
“And thegrocery store North. I know, I know.” Chloe countered, sniffing back the cold.“You interest me. I’m intrigued.”
Becaleaned back on her heels and stared some more. She had done a bit of googlingherself, of course, it was harder. She logged into an old Facebook accountbefore clicking on Aubrey Posen’s smiling face, arm wrapped around her fatherthat she still called Daddy even though they weren’t in the South anymore. Fromthere- she found Chloe. Chloe Beale- reporter. It figures she couldn’t helpputting her nose where it didn’t belong.
“Youshould sit by the fire, warm up before you reallydo catch your death. I’ll find you some dry clothes.”
Chloedidn’t’ seem to hesitate before walking close to the mantle and stretching herfingers out. Beca moved towards the iron steps, the second floor not muchhigher than the first. When she returned with a pair of grey sweat pants and anoversized t-shirt with a design of a palm tree on it, she found Chloe squintingat the pages of the book that was left on the coffee table.
“He was akiller, a thing that preyed, living on the things that lived, unaided, alone,by virtue of his own strength and prowess, surviving triumphantly in a hostileenvironment where only the strong survive.” Chloe read aloud, hearing the creakof the floorboards as Beca stopped on the last step.
“Is thatsupposed to be ironic?” Beca asked a wolfish and amused grin. Chloe was toyingwith her, setting the book back down as she took the clothes that were offeredto her. She ran her fingers over the faded design on the t-shirt.
“No, notironic. Not to you, anyway.”
Becasnorted before lifting her chin towards the hallway with the bathroom. Shetrusted Chloe to find it on her own. If she opened the door to the coat closetinstead, she had a feeling the young journalist would snoop around- but somehowit didn’t’ bother her as much as it should. It would bother anyone, shereasoned with herself, but somehow this inept display of human interaction hadher mind swimming and clouded.
Becaglared at the pages of the book when she flopped back down on the leather sofaand listened to the howling wind outside. She remembered reading this for highschool- creating a diorama of the forest. It was mainly poorly sculpted clayand figurines that she found at a craft store. Minimal effort compared to thestudents that had their parents construct it for them.
Her motherand stepfather believed that if she really put her mind to it, she didn’t needtheir help. Of course, they taught her how to drive, how to file her taxes whenshe started her first job as a cashier at an ice cream shop. How to fix a flatand change a head gasket without going to a mechanic. Beca wondered if thoseparents who completed their kids’ projects did that, or if they would just payto have it done in an air of panic.
Chloelooked scruffy and less put together in her clothes. She was hugging herselfcloser as she stood in the light of the fire. She had wiped away most of themud and the gash at her hairline didn’t look so bad anymore, a simple blemishcompared to the among of blood that dripped from it. Beca would beg thequestion that she looked like a lost puppy. Chloe would frown at her and flopdown at the other end of the couch, shivering at the burst of heat.
“Does itget lonely? You know… up here all the time. No one to talk to.”
Becafrowned and glanced over at the woman. She wasn’t staring her way, instead, shewas sadly gazing at the flames eating away at the log. “You know, most peoplejust say thank you. Besides, I have a fish.”
Shedidn’t’ want to admit it, but she talked to the fish more than he listened. Hisblue fins would splay through the water and he would follow her finger if shedragged it against the glass. Going to the pet store was always a challenge, but she accepted it because it meant his well being was kept level. She let outa sigh and shifted against her edge of the couch, moving her arm against theback.
“Look, even if I wanted to leave this place for more than twenty minutes, you saw theway the town acted. I’m a pariah. It’s easier if I stay up here.”
“For who?”
“Foreveryone!” Beca huffed, deep blue orbs flashing towards her. “There is not oneperson in this town that believes that I’m innocent, alright? No one that I’mallowed to talk to anyway. To everyone here, I am a killer, and it’s better tolet them think that.”
Becaremembered the jury, and the feeling of instant relief she got when they saidshe wasn’t innocent on all accounts. The heat of the courtroom was stiflingbut an instant cool washed over her bones. A metal fan was whirring in thecorner and Aubrey Posen distinctly slammed her hand down on the table in frontof her- but that didn’t’ stop the feeling of joy that was with her. The way herown lawyer pulled her in for an undeniable and well-deserved embrace.
“Theyproved you innocent.”
“Yeah,they did.”
She staredevenly at the flames, the way they ate away at the logs and hollowed them out untilnothing, but undeniable heat remained. Beca had a panic attack the first timeshe had started it. But there was no heat up here and the winters were grueling.Snow would cap the rocks and shattered ice would collect at the base of the cliffs.Chloe very much could have caught her death.
“Peoplewant a villain.” Beca sounded out after a silence. “They want someone who isevil inside and out because that is way easier than believing in coincidence. Thinkingthat accidents do happen and there is no ulterior motive.”
“And you’reokay just… being that? Being the person that everyone hates?”
Becapursed her lips and curled her fingers into the couch. At first, no, she wasn’t.She would feel that cold pain that crept into her chest and made her sob into apillow in a nasty hotel room that smelled of urine and smoke. But now it wasnearly peaceful. That is until Chloe showed up looking like a drowned rat. An irresponsibledrowned rat.
“You can’tbe.”
Becaswallowed thickly. “And so, what if I’m not? That shouldn’t be any of your concern. You don’t even know me.”
“I don’tthink anyone does.” Chloe’s voice hadgotten a bit louder, and she sounded like she was struggling to talk. Maybe itwas her frozen vocal cords or the way she tucked her feet under herself as sheturned to face Beca. “I read all the headlines, and I heard everything thatAubrey had to say. But none of that makes sense to me.”
“What’snot to get, Chloe? I’m just someone who wants to be left alone.”
“That’snot true.” She sniffed, cold, maybe “No one wants to be alone. Not forever.”

Custom t-shirt printing services have emerged as a symbol of self-expression in the fast-paced world of today when individuality is valued over conformity. The market for clothing with custom printing is still expanding, with applications ranging from fashion statements and promotional items to personalized presents and team uniforms. In this piece, we explore the wide range of custom t-shirt printing services, their advantages for both individuals and organizations and their numerous alternatives.
The Evolution of Custom T-Shirt Printing Services
Since its establishment, custom t-shirt printing businesses have advanced significantly. What used to involve labor-intensive physical labor and few design alternatives has been simplified into a procedure that gives unmatched freedom and creativity. The business has transformed thanks to technological improvements, which have made T-Shirts custom made in West Palm Beach simpler than ever to design personalized t-shirts that perfectly express the wearer’s personality or the identity of the brand.
A Multitude of Printing Techniques
The variety of printing methods offered by custom t-shirt printing services is one of their main advantages. Every method has distinct benefits about price, quality, and adaptability.
One of the earliest and most widely used techniques for producing personalized t-shirts is screen printing. For every color in the design, a stencil (or screen) must be made. Ink is then applied to the garment through the screens using a squeegee. For large orders and artwork with clear details and brilliant colors, screen printing works best.
Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing: This digital printing technique imprints designs directly onto the shirt’s fabric by utilizing specialist inkjet technology. Because it allows for a great degree of flexibility and detail, this method is ideal for small orders and elaborate designs.
Heat Transfer Printing: In this method, the design is printed on a specific transfer paper, and then pressure and heat are used to transfer the design to the shirt. Small orders and designs with a lot of colors, gradients, or photographic components work well with this technique.
Sublimation Printing: Sublimation printing transfers dye into fabric by applying pressure and heat, resulting in vivid and durable prints. This technique creates graphics that are resilient to fading and works best on polyester clothing.

Corporate Branding: Personalized t-shirts are an effective marketing and branding tool for businesses. Wearing branded clothing helps to strengthen your company’s identification and make a lasting impression on clients and potential clients, whether you’re attending a trade show or event, promoting a new product, or raising awareness for a cause.
Team Apparel: To promote camaraderie and pride among participants, sports teams, clubs, and organizations frequently choose custom-printed t-shirts. Matching t-shirts fosters a sense of unity and togetherness whether you’re representing your club at an event or competing on the field.

Yaeji’s Noonside is a nice soundtrack to this freezing Sunday morning. I refused to leave my apartment last night; instead, I made a really excellent tomato chicken pasta thing while I mixed myself two Negronis and watched Shameless (shamelessly), the perfect housewife night. Today I’m still trying to stay inside, even though my apartment won’t get above 66. I’ve been snuggled under the covers drinking coffee and reading about North Korea’s state-sponsored assassination of Kim Jong-un’s half brother Kim Jong-nam, which took place at an airport in Kuala Lumpur this past February, and involved two millennial Vietnamese women - one wearing a white t-shirt emblazoned with the word LOL, which is awesome - who rubbed a nerve toxin all over his face. He died on the way to the hospital.
WTF, the Kim family is crazy. I imagine if I was a Kim I’d have been killed the minute that soccer ball rolled by me while I was dancing on the soccer field, at the age of 9, when my Dad’s athletic dreams for me were dashed. Or I would’ve been killed went I went to art school; or undercooked my pork tenderloin; or wore a pink palm-print bikini brief to Riis beach; or who the fuck knows. Apparently Kim Jong-nam embarrassed the Kim family by trying to go to Tokyo Disneyland on a fake Dominican Republic passport, and got caught doing so. Was it the passport, or the Disneyland thing? I used to be a Disneyland nerd when I was in elementary school. I even fashioned a miniature Matterhorn bobsleds ride out of clay in third grade art class, and I used to read Disneyland ride reviews and “trip reports,” in which sad 45-year old child-men would complain about seeing trash and tarnished paint, bemoaning the company’s lack of upkeep. That certainly would’ve led to some Metaliica t-shirt-wearing millennial coming up to me at Julius’ in the West Village, rubbing some shit all over my face while drinking a really cheap gin and tonic - or maybe in this case, a gin and VX (the toxic nerve agent used on Jong-nam), everyone’s favorite new cocktail. I’m thankful I’m not politically connected, because that’s always such a disaster. Instead I can make all my mistakes in peace.
What should I do today? Brunch? Read? Go to the gym? More X-Files? Life is hard, but weekends are great.

So don’t feel bad when you have no idea where to start when placing your custom t-shirt printing order. Hopefully this guide can help you out. Here are our four best t-shirts for screen printing: This is probably the most common style of tees out there. When in doubt, go with a 100% cotton shirt. These shirts are affordable, produce great printing quality and work great with discharge inks — one part of our top-secret ink recipe, which produces a super-soft print that we have won multiple awards for. But 100% cotton is also known to shrink a little bit in the wash.

Best price West Palm Beach Florida Shark Skeleton Unisex
This is our second most popular shirt and a heavy favorite for clothing companies Best price West Palm Beach Florida Shark Skeleton shirt . When it comes to quality, this is the route you want to go. Ringspun tees are thinner and softer than normal 100% cotton basics, and often called “fashion tees.” These provide you with great printing quality, and they can be printed with our discharge inks. These are nice shirts, usually a little softer than 100% cotton, and they don’t shrink as much. They are 50% cotton and 50% polyester. The only problem with them is that we can’t print on them with our special soft inks. Threadbird Printing uses a discharge underbase on all shirts except 50/50 tees. The best printing alternative for 50/50 tees is waterbase inks, which also produce a soft print, but which cost a bit more. If you don’t want to pay extra for waterbase, know your inks will be thicker. When we printed our first set of Threadbird logo tees, we decided we wanted to go all out. We wanted a shirt that made people go “wow” when they first touched it — and they do. We went with theTriblend American Apparel tee, and this shirt feels amazing. They are 50% cotton, 25% polyester and 25% rayon, and they are probably one of the softest shirts you will ever feel. Due to its makeup though, these shirts almost always come in a heather. Also, you can’t use discharge on these shirts, so we used waterbase inks to still get a super-soft feel. But be warned, these are pretty expensive, and the most expensive out of my four options listed here. You Can See More Product: https://kingteeshops.com/product-category/trending/
