It's crazy to think that in a few short years Byler will be mainstream. Like, not even "fandom" mainstream in the sense that Destiel and Johnlock became well-known ships across the internet, but like, MAINSTREAM mainstream. Like, culturally mainstream. Like, official Byler merch at your local mall, major headline on Fox News, angry Ben Shapiro rant, SNL parody mainstream. Everyone and their mother will know about Byler and they will be a classic couple in media the way that Han and Leia or Harry and Sally or Jim and Pam are.

Holiday parties were once a thing where I work. A few were held at the city's convention center. Spouses and partners were invited. There was a nice meal and prizes. People got dressed up.

That was when the company was much smaller and centralized. Then we grew and spread out. Parties are difficult to hold when coworkers are in multiple states across all parts of the country.

Yesterday there was a holiday party at a downtown office building. It was employees only but there was a good meal and prizes.

Normally I work at home though this summer I rode my bicycle downtown several times to the office just for the heck of it. The first large snowfall of the season was also yesterday. Biking was out of the question for me.

So I rode the bus for the first time in ages. Express buses that ran by my house died with COVID. I found I could take a local bus over to a park and ride station and catch "Rapid Transit" bus to downtown. I didn't want to drive to the park and ride lot.

The rapid transit bus didn't seem any different than an express bus, the ones with few stops and mostly highway travel. But the rapid transit fare is the smaller local fare price, not the higher express bus rate. That does not make sense to me, but I won't argue over saving money.

Traffic was slow due to the snow. I didn't mind. It was a little adventure. I dressed warmly and had a book to read. At times I peered out the window and was glad I didn't have to drive myself in that mess.

Watching snow fall over downtown was fun. Shortly after I took this picture I saw two people pushing a minivan that was stuck in a snowbank. I can't remember the last time I helped push a car mired in snow. It seems like most people have AWD or 4WD these days.

The work party was pleasant. I came home with a small prize. The meal was one of my favorites: turkey, stuffing, potatoes and other Thanksgiving fare.

Some new employees I hadn't met before were there. They're the same age as my sons. The next generation.

They talked about how much PTO they get. I kept silent for that part of the conversation. I started at a time when the PTO benefits were better. New people don't get as much. Plus I have acquired extra PTO days due to how long I've been there.

Today I'm using some of that extra PTO. I am off work now until after Christmas. Today I'll shovel snow. One nice thing when working at home is that I get the driveway cleared during the day. I didn't feel like doing it last night after I got home.

Just had a random thought about Mayday when she starts talking. Imagine her trying to say Miguel's name, and she calls him "Miggle." 🤣 Then, after that, reader and Peter jokingly call him that from time to time just to mess with him.

Omg, the way Miguel would give Peter B. the biggest glare EVERY SINGLE TIME Peter B. calls him that! You just know Peter B. laughs every time about it, but then Mayday continues to call Miguel that until she can get it right (or maybe she keeps calling him that out of endearment, which would be so cute lowkey) and reader sometimes says it and well, it's Mayday and reader, so Miguel just softly grins at the "nickname" whenever it comes from them even if it's teasing, but everyone else knows better than to call him that, except for Peter B. because he thinks it's funny!! No, I'm picturing it and it would be so cute yet funny!!! I feel like it's actually so possible that Mayday would call Miguel "Miggle" the first few months of her learning to talk!! 🤣🤣

Sure! Lemme think...

I always sit on the left end of the couch. There are two couches in my family's house and my Spot on both of them is the left end. I'm moving in to my first apartment in a month, which will have a couch, and I'm hoping my roommate and I don't clash in our couch-sitting habits XD

I've never been to the emergency room (for myself). The most severe injury I've ever gotten was a hairline fracture in the last digit of my left pinky finger, which i find hilarious because it's about the smallest and least serious broken bone I could possibly have had. (My little brother, on the other hand, has been twice, both for relatively minor cuts that needed stitches).

Despite my admiration of Fashionable People (there are a lot of them at art school), I am a graphic-tee-and-jeans kinda girl. I've started growing out of all the redbubble tees I got in high school and now more than half my summer wardrobe consists of merch from high school theater, high school orchestra and my local library (and the one single shirt i got from buying season tickets to university sportsball freshman year)
