One thing I've particularly liked with T'Rina, being a Vulcan in a post-Unification society, is that she DOES have these very subtle expressions of emotions. They're there, they're noticeable in comparison to a lot of other portrayals of Vulcans, and yet she is still distinctly Vulcan.

I have always wondered about how Unification would handle incorporating Romulan culture - the brief glimpse we saw in the Unification two-parter felt uncomfortably close to simply having Vulcan ways supplant Romulan ways, because there was no talk of what the Romulans would bring to the Vulcans beyond simply reuniting the sundered cousins, which was undermining the fact that the Romulans had developed in their own way apart from the Vulcan ways.

Granted, part of that was the simple fact that a) we were seeing this smallest glimpse of things as Spock tried to bring something of Vulcan to the Romulans, surrounded by their own culture, and b) Romulan culture had very little development provided by the writers at the time of the episode's production. But it was a concern I've always had about how Reunification was being portrayed.

So seeing that T'Rina is able to express some emotion, some subtleties in her emotional aspects, it says to me that Reunification DID allow the Romulan culture and society and attitudes to be incorporated into the way of life on Ni'var.
