#Syrena is a badass

The first week on the front had been absolutely brutal. There was a constant string of riders and fliers recorded on the death rolls they sent back to Aretia and the cadets. Mira and Syrena were busy trying their people, and themselves, off of it-- which was prooving to be a taller order than Mira had first anticipated. In a town outside of Zoyla, the second day of fighting had rendered them down two riders, a dragon, and nearly a whole drift.

Mira loosened her grip on the spike she used as Teine’s pommel when a maneuver required. She switched the grip to wipe her right palm along her flight leathers as she twisted in her seat to look over her shoulder at the beast falling from the sky behind her. A long exhale pressed from her lungs as she leaned forward in her seat patting the side of Teine’s neck as relief rushed through her aching limbs. “ That was a close one.” 

“Please.” Teine scoffed, swinging his head around to, quite literally, give her side eye. His golden eyes narrowed on her as he did— clearly affronted.  

“I’m just saying. I think I felt some wind from its jaws.” The wyvern had bitten close enough mira had actually checked her flight jacket wasn’t missing a strip of leather after Teine had rolled away, banking hard enough as he did it and forcing Mira deeper into her seat. Her dragon was an agile motherfucker, she’d give him that. He’d cut and rolled so hard at first he’d rendered Mira unconscious on a few occasions when she was still a cadet until she’d learned how to properly engage her muscles and breathe through the increased force. 

She wasn’t going to mention that it had almost certainly been Zihnal’s hand tilting the scale in their favor when Teine had caught the thing in just the right spot on its temple with his clubtail that the wyvern fell limp almost instantly. He was good, and he was deadly with that tail, but even he wasn’t that good. 

It had been a week since they escorted the cadets up the Cliffs of Dralor and it felt like Mira had been fighting for the entirety of it. 

That wasn’t exactly true. 

They had been attacked on patrol that first night, and then nothing after for days… until yesterday. Thurso, a town outside of Zoyla was attacked just before dawn and the fighting hadn’t really ceased. They'd evacuated maybe two hundred civilians through the fighting and drove the dark wielders back to Zoyla eventually. By the time they had finished patrols, doing what they could for the wounded civilians, and going over strategy on what to do now, Mira had gotten maybe an hour long nap when she’d been woken up by a flier. Venin had gone back to finish the rest of the town. 

She’d been in long fights before. Of course she had. But there was nothing that could have prepared her for this— for seeing a venin drain the life right from the earth and fifty innocent lives right along with it like it was nothing. Worse than that– like she enjoyed it. 

These things were hard to kill, and their wyvern could be easily overwhelming if they got someone isolated with numbers. 

That had been exactly what happened to Panya earlier that morning. 

Three against one was tough– Mira had managed to escape those odds once herself with the help of a couple fliers, but four against one had proven fatal. Especially when one of them had a rider. Of course it had. But one of the venin had engaged them while Mira took to the ground to throw her wards up in front of a pair of children that had fallen behind the group of civilians fleeing between ruined buildings. 

Teine swung around back near the spot Mira had last seen Panya flying, hours ago now, toward the western edge of the town before she’d been pulled away. Her eyes scanned rapidly over the rubble for any sign of him. She’d known the moment he’d died earlier when Teine had practically wailed with grief mid-flight while he flew over her head keeping a wyvern from her and the civilians. But seeing his crumbled body still in the seat of his red scorpiontail… the crimson scales harsh and nearly violent to the eyes where he lay against the charred ground… had her stomach rolling. 

“Oh, Nic. A rider till the end. I commend your soul to Malek.” She felt the rumble of Teine’s chest below her as he prepared to loose a breath of fire over them to do just that, but their moment of grief was cut short short lived when her eyes caught movement off to her left. Her eyes were drawn to it so quickly she couldn’t remember turning her head. Two wyvern had started a dive toward a pair of fliers on the ground, one knelt over the other who was clearly injured. “Teine! Ten o’clock low! ”

“I see them.”

The most irrealistic part of this fic that Rhi not having a crush on Mira. A hot and badass woman who is literally the only person alive that would as insane as her to protect Violet and eho understands how amazing and perfect her friend is? All I'm saying is that if she and Tara have a list of people they're allowed to sleep as an exception Mira is on Rhi's list

I think Mira and Violet are a little TOO much alike that Rhi might be weirded out if she slept with her, but also I totally hear you and maybe Rhiannon just doesn’t give a fuck about that, which is also an option lol

Mira and Syrena, however. . . That’s who I’m really rooting for

I feel like it's a miss opportunity that Margot Robbie could had been saved for POTC 6 as a badass pirate villain. Idk about a love interest for Jack but that would had been cool to finally see a female villain in the series. I also would love for them to bring back Angelica, Syrena and Philip.

Can I have the context for the bushfire, the Rolls-Royce/launching a Tree via crossbow thing, and the Phoenix Thing, please?

VtM has a sometimes awkward habit of turning actual real-live people into characters, which they did with Melbourne gangster Squizzy Taylor. The real guy died in 1927; in VtM, he was Embraced as a Brujah instead, promptly diablerised his sire, and spent the next sixty years building up his power. In 1983, during the very real, very deadly Ash Wednesday fires, the vampire version made his move by crossing Melbourne under the cover of the smoke and killing the Toreador Prince, Montague Lytton.

"Solution to stop an ancient vampire going on a mass murder spree: fire a six-foot long stake made of a whole tree out of a crossbow mounted to a 95-year-old Rolls-Royce being used as an all-terrain vehicle, or use Stonehenge to transport him to Mesopotamia."

From Night Road! It's one of the options you can take to kill an old, dangerous Nosferatu named Reremouse. It's absolutely badass. It's a 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom with a circular door you can accidentally smash a pickaxe into and which ends up totaled either way, not to be mistaken for the Syrena that shows up later:

The FSO Syrena 105 looks like a fairly typical Iron Curtain people's car, except it's been modified with a modern electronics system and a variety of what Julian called "spy gadgets," including a nitrous boost, wheel spikes, and—apparently—front machine guns. It's also the reason why Lettow is quite possibly a secret Toreador, because who else would be that extra?

(The replica of Stonehenge was built by the Sabbat as an exact replica of one in Iraq, and you can do a blood ritual to transport Reremouse to the other side of the world instead of. You know. Six-foot long stake made out of a tree fired from a crossbow on an antique all-terrain Rolls-Royce.)

Also Night Road, just a fun little throwaway mention if you're working with Raúl:

Contact me right away for major jobs and I'll come back." And there's a ProtonMail address with some of the security contact codes you agreed upon earlier.

But it looks like Raúl will be occupied dealing with the Lord and His automotive crimes, and he won't be able to wander around Tucson with you.

(Some minor context - there's a Malk at the hospital in Phoenix who's pretty sure he was resurrected personally by Jesus, so probably a friend of his. )

Angelica is either a Slytherin or Gryffindor but I think she is more of a Gryffindor. She would do anything for the ones she loves (she was ready to sacrifice her life for Blackbeard without a second thought). She is fearless, fierce and passionate. She doesn’t want to kill without a reason, she is a badass but with a heart of gold.

Ravenclaw - Carina Smyth

Honestly, where else would she go? She loves studying, she is a woman of science. She needs proof or she won’t believe you. She is smarter than most. I don’t think I need to explain this one.

Hufflepuff - Syrena

This is also an obvious one. Syrena isn’t cruel like other mermaids, she is pure and kind. She wants to help, she is a bit naive.

Slytherin - Elizabeth Swann

Many people can say that Elizabeth would go to Gryffindor but I think she is a Slytherin. Why? Cause she is cunning, she would do literally anything if she needs something and she enjoys power. Come on she really likes to be a Pirate King. She will kill for those she loves and hates when someone tells her what to do.

While my intuition is solid, its best to learn about a person and situation before really coming to a conclusion. Time and time again I’m reminded NOT to judge others. When I happened upon @the_magic_crafter insta page I couldn’t help but think what in the world a Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ in Traverse City. I had to know more! I was intrigued and completely captivated by her incredibly realistic silicone tail at the tune of $3000 I have to admit at first I didn’t understand which made me wanna learn more. I reached out! As we talked and learned about each other, it was clear, that we would get along wonderfully and also be working together. See, Phantom’s no joke she’s young and powerful. Through her weaknesses, she has found her voice, her strength and her beauty. She’s a badass entrepreneur and making a career out of being a professional Mermaid The time and effort that Phantom puts into every last detail is incredible!
