Jim Boeheim American Basketball Coach
Watching Syracuse get blasted by Clemson this past Tuesday had me checking out Boeheim on the sidelines. And I have to say "he could still get a taste."
Just saying.

Olivia Adamson's shooting precision led to emergence for Syracuse
Tumblr media
Get the latest Syracuse news delivered right to your inbox. Subscribe to our sports newsletter here. Olivia Adamson’s summer routine requires elite shooting accuracy. Following a warm up session with her father, Tom, she helps train her younger sister Gigi, who’s committed to Clemson as a goalie in the class of 2028. If Gigi asks for a shot to a corner, Adamson repeatedly pins the corner until her sister gets what she wants from the drill. The two go back and forth each morning until the blistering Florida heat tires them out. “Every opportunity she gets where she’s looking at the goal, she’s done it hundreds if not thousands of times before,” Tom said of Adamson. Through continuous shooting reps in the summer, Adamson’s elite finishing ability propelled her to become a top threat for Syracuse in 2024. Throughout her Division I career, Adamson’s point total has increased every season as she jumped from a key role player to a star. After SU lost its top two goal scorers — Meaghan Tyrrell and Megan Carney — from 2023, Adamson led the Orange in points (65) in the regular season and is primed to help them surge through the postseason. “I think from my first semester freshman year to now I’ve completely grown into a different player,” Adamson said. With Tyrrell and Carney gone, there was a clear role for Adamson to step into. She said her goal was to fill out one of those top spots, but she wanted to stay with her routine and continue to grow. Her Syracuse career started in a similar fashion.
Tumblr media
Cole Ross | Digital Design Editor When star attack Emma Ward was injured in the 2022 preseason, an opening was created for Adamson to make an instant impact. She took the opportunity and ran with it, scoring less than a minute into her career. Twenty-one games later, she earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman Team honors and tied for third on the team in goals. As a sophomore in 2023, her role slightly shifted. Draw control specialist Kate Mashewske suffered a season-ending lower-body injury seven games into the season and the Orange needed someone to step up. SU head coach Kayla Treanor bounced around a few options but Adamson stuck. Despite never taking a draw in college, Adamson excelled. She won 107 draws and helped Syracuse reach the Final Four. Simultaneously, she developed as a key cog on the attack, posting career highs in assists (21) and points (51). “She’s always been a great player from the day she stepped on campus,” Carney said of Adamson. “It was just getting comfortable and finding her role.” In the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, Adamson posted one of the best games of her career. A game-high six points and nine draw control wins helped Syracuse defeat James Madison to reach its first Final Four under Treanor. Though SU’s season ended with a Final Four loss to Boston College. Heading home for the summer meant Adamson had to reconnect with her routine. Working with Gigi put Adamson’s skills to the test every morning. Gigi often requests Adamson to repeatedly place a flurry of shots in specific areas. And while Gigi’s trying to improve, Adamson hones in on her accuracy and practices different shots. Tom said about midway through Adamson’s high school career, he realized the role she might play in college as a finisher. To aid this, they delved into having the hands to take in anything that comes her way and the vision to finish plays. Just like the roles she had to adjust to in the past, Adamson stuck to the same basics she’s practiced through much of her career. “She always thinks of herself as being able to play an important role,” Tom said. “And so she never really said ‘Look, I have this opportunity.’ She just was looking forward to the year and doing what needed to be done.” In the first quarter of SU’s season opener against No. 1 Northwestern, she was silenced. Though she quickly broke through, scoring a game-high six goals. From there, Adamson notched at least three points in all but two games in the regular season, helping Syracuse to its first-ever ACC regular-season title. While leading the team in scoring for most of the season, she also alleviated pressure from Mashewske on the draw, who struggled at times coming off an injury. In SU’s nonconference bout with UAlbany, the Great Danes won the draw battle 13-6 in the first half, prompting the Orange to rely on Adamson in the circle in the second half. The attack helped SU win 10 of the game’s last 15 draws en route to a 20-11 win.

Olivia Adamson prepares a shot attempt in Syracuse’s game versus UAlbany on March 19. Adamson led Syracuse in points through its regular season slate with 65. Calysta Lee | Contributing Photographer While Adamson’s versatility helps SU, her inside finishing ability elevates her as a scoring threat. Ward describes Adamson’s finishing game as “phenomenal” and credits her for quickly getting into the offense’s flow and taking on a larger role in 2024. In SU’s regular-season finale versus Boston College, Adamson netted a team-high three goals, all resulting from her inside scoring prowess. On the first, she took a tight window pass from Ward and flipped it underhand to beat BC’s Shea Dolce high. Later in the game, she scored two more after receiving passes and utilizing her quick release to beat Dolce. Against Louisville Wednesday in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, she was limited on the scoresheet but her presence forced the Cardinals to send more attention her way, making room for a season-high nine different players to score. When she did find the back of the net, it was a sharp shot to the upper-right corner. “Her role has changed where now she’s one of our very top threats and defenses are scouting her and coming up with game plans to stop her where in the past she’s been successful because they’re trying to stop somebody else,” Treanor said. Under Treanor, along with assistant coaches Kenzie Kent from 2022-23 and Abigail Rehfuss in 2024, Adamson has vastly improved her knowledge of the game and learned different techniques. Adamson said when she started working with Treanor, she was blown away by how her coach helped her technically improve and fine-tune her raw skills. Though she wasn’t recruited by Treanor — who was an assistant at Boston College from 2017-21 — Adamson said it was a lifelong dream to play under Treanor, who she admired as a player during her childhood. When Adamson learned Treanor became Syracuse’s new head coach ahead of her freshman season, Tom said she was ecstatic. As a driving force behind Treanor’s coaching success at SU, the player Adamson once idolized now adores her. “She’s one of the best finishers I’ve ever coached. I love coaching her, I always have and she’s elite,” Treanor said.

"Gridiron Showdown: Florida State vs Clemson, Syracuse, and Kentucky Football Clash"
Once upon a time, in the land of college football, there was a fierce rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles and the Clemson Tigers. Every year, their clash on the field was a battle of epic proportions, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for victory. Meanwhile, in the neighboring state, the Syracuse Orange and the Kentucky Wildcats were also locked in a heated rivalry. These four teams…

[Poor Chronicles Pt. 2]
[DETOUR: Why did some man steal about $10 in quarters from me at the laundromat today? Did I blatantly ignore him asking for $1 in quarters minutes prior to noticing my container of quarters were gone? Yes I did. Did I search the premises and stopped at him last to ensure him that I knew it was him? Also yes. Did he pay someone to change his laundry and run off after this? Yes as well. Why did I not confront him verbally? I do not believe in verbal exchanges. My only solution would be getting banned (possibly arrested, depends) from the laundromat for knocking a grown man out cold. This is the only laundromat in my neighborhood…I THINK THE FUCK NOT! Why not? He is stupid and will remain broke and angry forever, why the fuck do I care to retaliate in anger? Also, I would have been victorious in battle, so I am not left wondering “What could’ve happened?”.]
Anyways, another week. Another $0.00 account balance. This week I have but a dollar to my name. I have started my next monthly expenses count. This one’s is complete. This time we have 2 and 2/3s boxes of cereal left with 1 and 1/3 gallons of milk. It was originally about 12. Why? This month’s diet experiment was: Majority cereal and snacks. Ranging from chips, AirHeads, Reese’s, Kit Kats, Milky Ways, Pop Tarts (On and Off brand), etc… The snacks only lasted the 1st 12 days, so I decided on just chips and cereal. I almost decided to add a cheat meal to start next month, but decided to strictly and fully revert back to last month’s diet. Strictly chicken salads from work and ramen noodles (with hot sauce).
Although I would like to just strategically space out the remaining cereal…I may just fast the last few days before starting the next diet, if finished before the month is over. Strict on not starting the next month’s diet before 12am on the 1st. Do not recommend next month’s diet. Requires a lot of cooking to prepare noodles and remain full. Also lots of fatigue due to lack of food pyramid intake. Not for weak stomachs either. Ramen noodles will make you sick from overconsumption and hot sauce will rip through your insides like a hurricane. Even worse if you own pets. If you do not possess a lot of natural muscle or do possess lots of body fat…do not attempt, I repeat. This is not a weight loss method. I may keep this diet up for who knows how long. Will miss my chips (and cereal).
Also found, the channel I watch (CW) is partnered with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and will broadcast various Division IA football games, from the likes of Clemson, Louisville, Florida State, Syracuse, Duke and many more. No longer sad. Only on Saturdays though. Unexpected for a channel mostly known for dramas, sitcoms and church specials. Do not like how they depict me (God). Almost ignore it entirely. Found out I have time to attend one of those local games as well.
Lastly, why are there so many fat “christians”/religious people? I thought greed was a sin. Make it make sense. I will resume cooking, variety in meal consumption and many other things when I have made it out of THIS neighborhood. Even in wealth, I will be Maruchan’s top consumer. Until then, I will embrace the struggle that is being African American, a Southsider and a Chicagoan. That is to live powerfully and without sin. I, above all else, shall not envy, experience sloth or indulge in greed. Everything else as well, but wrath…is just not one. Feel this one.
Live life freely and enjoy all life has to offer. Every “tough” experience will make sense in due time. Money will always be available to make because it is just a number in someone else’s mind and you only get ONE chance to experience your one true life before you spend eternity suffering trying to keep up in someone else’s. Rage all you want. “Make them pay for this” all you want. At the end of the day, they will be successful at living THEIR life and you’ll watch from the back seat in sin…

7 members plotting against the ACC.  The observations.
So it just broke that 7 members in the ACC have been talking secretly about how to escape the ACC and the ACC’s Grant of Rights deal.  (They signed that deal in 2016 after adding Notre Dame as an Olympic member with a football scheduling alliance.)
This means a lot, but what does it mean?
I think it says that everyone in College Football realizes that this, the last round of musical chairs, begun by the University of Texas, is underway.
Florida State started talking about how unhappy they were last year right after ESPN and FOX “overpaid” the Big 12.  FSU makes essentially the same money as the Big 12 schools.  As UCF,  $20+M less annually than their rival the University of Florida and all the crap bottom feeding schools in the SEC and Big Ten.
I think you can take FSU’s public protests as them shouting at Notre Dame,  “Hey We are no longer happy with this status quo.  If you want to jump ship, we will back your play!”
SEC
There was a rumor in realignment circles last year that the SEC’s end game move was to take total ownership of the the deep south recruiting grounds for all time by adding Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC, Duke, Clemson, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech and Tulane to form a conference with 25 members.  That would prevent the Big Ten from growing that big and having that membership would prevent the Big Ten from dictating the direction of college athletics.
It would also give the SEC near total control over recruiting, not just the dominance they have today.  It is a believable scenario from an SEC member desire perspective...but does it work financially?
Take a look at the nation’s recruiting hotbeds.
Tumblr media
It seemed a crazy rumor at the time, but this could easily be that move coming into action, with the SEC replacing Duke with a more SEC-like school in NC State is athletically more SEC in character.
If you take the 7 schools as 7 schools colluding to potentially dissolve the ACC and join the SEC as a group... as some realignment followers suspect, it is troublesome news.
ESPN
ESPN has long manipulated schools under their umbrella. ESPN doesn’t LOVE the ACC.  They love FSU, Miami, Clemson, UNC and Duke.
ESPN doesn’t want to move those schools to the SEC and overpay those schools at SEC rates --- while keeping the rest of the ACC leftovers in a hobbled conference at historic rates.
If those 7 schools are working collectively at the direction of the SEC schools for bulk admission, it is ENTIRELY possible that ESPN is the ultimate puppet master, thinking they would rather see the ACC disbanded, nullifying their agreements, and just take the SEC money and pay their cherry picked ACC superstar schools SEC money, knowing that the there will be settlements that have the ACC haves making the ACC have nots more or less whole.
Now, lets play that out.  That leaves a TON of good basketball schools to join the Big 12 as either full members or specifically basketball only members. Not Olympic-only members.  Paid to play basketball and then go the hell away.
ESPN partners with FOX to pay the Big 12 bill.  How many slots would they authorize for the Big 12?
The Big 12 is already now the nation’s premiere basketball conference.
Imagine them with Louisville, Duke, Wake Forest, UConn, Boston College, Pitt, and Syracuse?  Imagine a Big 12 where 70% of their schools make the tourney every year and where they produce 2-3 of the number one seeds!
That is a conference that can make money off basketball hand over fist to help offset their media money deficit and become the undisputed 3rd and final power conference.. The Big 12 seems to be chomping at the bit for this.
And where does the PAC stand?  Forgotten. A lesser MWC in basketball. A football conference with a total inability to recruit and a perchant for sending football teams with limited depth to get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
And the crazy thing?  It could be worse than that.   The Big 12 is talking to their media partners a lot. The Big 12 Might START by adding San Diego State and another western basketball school...Gonzaga? Arizona?  UNLV? What then for the PAC?
(I should note that it is wildly assumed by Pac leaders  that SDSU will wait until the apocalypse for an association with Stanford and Cal.  Accurate in this environment? Who can say. The train is rolling out and people tend to panic.)
That is just one of many scenarios this explosive revelation could deliver.
The bottom line:  Get off your ass, Pac-12.

The ACC has been one of the most competitive conferences in recent memory, and this season should be no different. The league is headlined by two perennial powerhouses in Clemson and Virginia Tech, but there are plenty of other contenders as well. Florida State, Louisville, and Miami all possess legitimate Heisman candidates, while Boston College, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse all have dangerous offenses. The Big Ten is always one of the more unpredictable conferences due to its wide range of teams talent-wise. Ohio State is undoubtedly one of the top programs in college football right now, but they’ll face stiff competition from Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nebraska, Illinois, and others.
