CHAPTER 9: A Long Awaited Revelry.

we can see that MC meets Sylus after that incident in chapter 8.

And from there, next scene we get?

MC PUTTING HER ARMS AROUNS SYLUS SEEMINGLY ATTENDING AN EVENT/ BALL?

sorry rafayel... but i feel like he's the most unskilled at kisses because - hear me out - you're his very first kiss. lemurians as a species seem to value bonds and loyalty, and as the literal sea god he wasn't able to nor wanted to just hook up or mess around - he's looking for devotion!!!

(okay, we ignore the kiss in forgotten sea myth story because like come on there was literally no romance mc was drowning)

definitely waits a while before kissing you, rayafel really takes his time to fall into place. after all, he needs to make sure his beloved bride/groom is well and truly his!!!

the type to wait for the ‘right moment’ - but doesn’t force or stage it ykwim? like the time comes naturally - e.g. watching the sunset, or you’re leaning close to him whilst he’s painting

he’s a romantic 100% like there’s a reason his 'floral promise' card was (imo) way fluffier compared to the others - like xavier's was tender-ish but rafayel was fucking melting

he's a sweet talker I just know it.

that charm he uses on his clients? he doesn't want to nor will he manipulate you with it but you know he's going to ramp up the charm to tease you a little

definitely knows his effect on you and uses it to his full advantage (cough cough fiery undercurrents secret times) like whispering in your ear, making excuses to touch you or get close to you

(i think he’d be more 'traditional' because of lemurian customs - the whole bonding + [forgotten sea spoilers] the sea god ceremony where the mc must devote themselves to rafayel displaying a strong level of devotion)

SUCH A GENTLE KISSER OMG like compared to his almost bratty and childish personality he’s a gentleman when it comes to kisses (also because he's kind of unsure what to do...)

the type to tuck strand of your hair behind your ear, fiddle with it a little maybe twirl it around his finger before trailing a finger along your jawline... i can see him like massaging your ear too? idk how to describe it he's a handsy man

first kiss was definitely more sweet than passionate ugawhriulgs he's such a cutie

right after the first kiss i think he’d be pretty affectionate, rather than bratty/tsundere since for him to kiss someone i believe he’d really need to love them (and therefore is more open to being vulnerable)

affectionate as in saying something cheesy probably, commenting on how you tasted or another one of his poetic, artistic quotes (dw raf we love it)

wouldn't be satisfied with just one after that, i can see him going in for a more passionate second and even a third (i mean look at his 'floral promise' memory OR 'fiery undercurrents') in the same few minutes

these follow up kisses would probably be longer and way less chaste, hands moving from tilting your chin up to your waist ahahahahahuwfa

you'd have to show him the appeal of tongue if that's your thing because he's seen it before but never really saw what was nice about it

any kisses after that i feel like they would follow this default pattern;

if he initiated the kiss i think he’d be more cocky and teasing, especially if he surprised you with one and he sees your flustered face

he's definitely not shy when it comes down to it, yeah he gets flustered if he thinks about it because of course imagining kissing the person he's pined over for centuries is going to fluster the shit out of him but he doesn't shy away form the idea or avoid the topic in conversation

i feel like he'd bring it up casually - like in the 'partner go go' event (aka heartbreaker-chasing-rhythm-game event) he was so insistent on the 'kissing page'

mc was like "apparently you can solve arguments with a kiss" and this mf straight up said "we can argue then" this man is STARVED

i feel like you'd need to initiate the kiss or give him very clear signs you'd be okay with a kiss for it to happen, i don't know why i just feel like he's that type of person

the first kiss is deep despite him trying his best to hold back - you can just feel his desire and longing oozing out of him and he's definitely on fucking cloud nine

xavier's holding your face and stroking his thumb along your cheek and god damn he's good at kissing where the fuck did he learn this from?

when he kisses you i don't think he's much of a lip biter, but if you bite his lips or lick at him or anything he's not opposed, as long as your lips are on his and vice versa

after the first kiss he's going straight into another one, his patience has thinned to the point of snapping and now he just needs you.

that being said i don't think he's a kiss virgin, just very selective and honest man when it comes to love and physical intimacy

now, when i say he isn't a fuckboy, that doesn't mean i don't believe in cocky-smugass-know-it-all sylus - he kisses well. and with PASSION. and probably the worst part is that he knows it.

first kiss with sylus? i can't imagine him making a large fuss about it like rafayel, nor it having to be some "i'm-at-deaths-door-and-need-to-kiss-you-atleast-once" situation like zayne, but no matter where or when you two share a first kiss he is making sure you remember

that being said, there was definitely a LOT of romantic and sexual tension between you and sylus for at least weeks before the kiss, i mean the air was thick with suggestive glances and denial

i think you two'd have to already be in close proximity which is very easy to achieve with sylus (touchiest man award goes to him) for the first kiss to initiate

From the sense I get from the trailers, Caleb is shaping up to be yandere

A character who at first is very sweet, loving, innocent, and overly affectionate like a normal deredere character, but over time begins exhibiting signs of being mentally sick as a result of having a too strong love

But this could easily just be a bait and switch kind of thing like how Sylus was supposed to be this big bad villain LI. But Caleb has potential to be yandere anyway

Zayne

Zayne is the very definition of kuudere. Calm, mature, unshakable. He seems cold on the outside but once you look past his exterior, you see that he's very loving

They are also harshly blunt and straightforward with their true feelings, both good and bad, which often leads to them making sharp-tongued statements

This is not to be confused with tsundere, who actively denies their feelings. Zayne never denies his feelings, he just seems cold at first. Honestly, I could see Zayne as a character who was built around the idea of kuudere

This is also not to be confused with sunao cool, which means a character who is always affectionate and is always calm and almost emotionless. Zayne is firmly a kuudere because he has many instances of him breaking his calm, cool, collected facade in different cards (exclusive tutorial, snow serenity, absolute zeal, etc). Also when you touch his dick/ass

Sylus

Sylus, honestly, I can see as a tsundere. Especially when he was a grumpy cat boy who wanted MC to pat his ass but wouldn't say it outright. He would use his tail to pull her hand to his ass but he wouldn't say it lol

But outside of him being a catboy, I can see him being a hinedere in the main story and basically if you take MC out of the picture. Not fully hinedere but a very light one because Sylus doesn't have that badly of a distorted world view, but he embodies this sentiment:

They are someone who has been wronged by the world somehow in the past causing them to create a cold-hearted and apathetic facade to hide their sensitive and caring feelings. 

Sylus, the leader of Onychinus, could come across as cold-hearted, cynical, and ruthless, but in front of MC, he's a baby boy

STOPPPP I SNORTED????😭😭😭😭 I mean, I honestly understand where you’re coming from. It does feel like we’re relying on them quite often. In all fairness though, the MC doesn’t really get to choose, now, do they? Thrust into these odd situations that they had no idea about, being forced to go through weird, possibly illegal procedures just to find out more about the secrets to their very existence that adults hid from them their entire life… yeah I honestly feel them. And also there’s the fact that for the purpose of the gameplay, they have to make it seem like the MC does in fact need these men in their life, not just romantically but plot-wise. Because in canon, so far we only have the 8 main story chapters and the background stories. How else are their relationships supposed to develop when the MC doesn’t get a chance to go on quests with them and discover more about them?

But in terms of how their relationship with Sylus will progress, I honestly see MC as doing the opposite of that. I think a major part of their character arc will be resisting him vs. learning more about him—eventually, learning if they can work alongside each other (if someone here has played MLQC, think of how Lucien worked as both himself and Ares in Black Swan).

Compared to other otome game MCs, they’ve got a lot of backbone and don’t take shit from others. Maybe that’s why they come off as a tsundere sometimes, but they’re really just trying to navigate life while being orphaned and completely cut off from human communication save for the people they can count on one hand… someone at Infold needs to give them some friends😔🙏🏽🙏🏽

I think part of why Sylus managed to worm his way into being one of my mains is that he's like... The word durable comes to mind

He'd be able to finesse his way around my tsundereness without being put off by it. He's designed to do so because his MC was designed to be slightly tsundere towards him too

There were a few moments that I don't remember off the top of my head where he handled her perfectly, but the main thing in my head right now is from the touring in love ending

The way he kept asking her if she liked what he made and wouldn't let go of it in a light hearted way

Because of this, I feel like he'd be able to win me over irl faster than any of the boys could. He's insistent and proactive right from the start

Zayne and I would move at a glacial pace because we both wouldn't really make a move until one day something happens. As for Caleb, I feel like he'd always be messing with me so I wouldn't even believe him no matter how many times he said he was into me akslshsk

After reading through the first few chapters of Caleb's story and having both Zayne and Sylus catch me poking around his banner, I feel like

With me choosing Sylus on my homepage, I can't help but imagine him just having the dopiest, stupidest grin on his face whenever I poke him or ask him to remind me about things because I was all tsuntsun towards him just a while ago and now I'm choosing him over someone I was looking forward to. He'd be the smuggest bitch to ever step foot in the cafe because he finally won over the tsundere asdfasdlkj

Because even though I haven't gotten to the meat of the story yet, I do feel a little weird about like... interacting with Caleb. The most I feel comfortable doing is poking his arm

What also doesn't help is the fact that his outfits really emphasize his muscles and (plot twist) I actually have a lowkey wariness of muscular men. Sylus is different somehow idk. But Caleb being both muscular and military kinda sets me on edge

This might change drastically today though since I'm planning on continuing the story with his jp dub. I'll have to go through the first part of the story with his jp dub too so even though the writing will be the same, the difference in delivery and in voice will definitely play a big part in how I see Caleb

I was trying to think of what happened with Sylus that kinda sealed the deal for me

Because with Zayne, it's easy to pinpoint. He hooked me with his voice, then sealed the deal with his little snow animals

With Sylus... I mean, even with me blogging almost everything, it's hard to pin down

I was definitely wary of him at first because of the potential of them making him antagonize Zayne, but when it was clear they weren't planning that, he went back to zero for me

And then NDZ kinda woke the sadist in me

I guess that was the hook?

But what sealed the deal? I think, considering that it was just a few weeks ago that I listed him as a main on my blog, it wasn't just one thing because of how tsundere I am asdfasnldfkj

I recall one night just poking him for a long time in the cafe, but I don't remember any one specific event that fully turned me towards him

I think it was just a combination of his voice, all the little things he says and does, and him being good at handling tsundere MC

EXACTLY EXACTLYYY!! Fantasy is the best genre to enjoy enemies-to-lovers (in normal romance fiction it gives me the ick bc why are you mentally beefing with Bob from accounting?), and what better example for that than a man whose wicked plans literally revolve around the death of the person he’ll fall for? The others have way too much history with the MC for them to be currently enemies-to-lovers, whereas Sylus is—presumably—a clean slate rn. There’s tension, there are secret plans, hidden secrets, and ALL the yummy goodness that comes with this trope executed perfectly.
