arts internal clock still wakes him up hours before you open your eyes. even after he retired.

he decided to make you breakfast with the time he had in this quiet house.

at 10 am he brought you a tray of waffles, orange juice and bacon.

there was even a little flower from the front yard.

he set it down on his side of the master bed.

“good morning,” he sung into your hair.

he presses the most delicate kisses over your face.

you scrunched your nose and a raspy chuckle escaped.

“hi”

“not to sound like a creep, but these hips would be great for having my babies.”

you rolled your eyes, even though, yes-you would like to have his babies.

you often pictured a little boy with curly blonde hair and heterchromia.

“art.”

“i’m just saying! it’s supposed to be a compliment.”

lily is at a play date, leaving the two of you in solitude. for a few hours at least.

he let out a dreamy sigh,

“i love your thighs…”

he massaged them through your silk pajamas.

he’d bought for you last year as a gift. youd had them on your fashion pinterest board for years. after doing some snooping on depop and poshmark, art soon understood why they were so marked up. it took weeks. of searching, but he finally found the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show set.

“i love having something to grab onto.”

there’s more mischief in his voice this time.

“i know. you leave bruised half the time.”

he dusts your temple with his lips.

“can’t help it, you’re my dream and woman.”

another kiss.

“and you try to squirm away a lot. it’s really not my fault if you think about it.”

you felt warm from the inside out. beginning to chuckle, you hide your face in his chest.

“aww,” he chuckled, “did i make you shy?”

“shut up.”

he shifts so you’re both laying down, you throw a leg over him lazily.

you hope this closeness remains in your marriage forever.

“there’s some clothes coming in the mail.”

“you never go shopping. what’s the occasion?” you ask

“it’s not for me,” he chuckles, “it’s for you.”

“why?”

he shrugs

“i don’t know. sundresses hug you so perfectly. and i love when you twirl in them and they do that fan out thing. so i found some more that would look good on you.”

he does this kind of thing often. drop something so heartwarming so casually. he doesn’t give himself enough credit for the lover that he is. that he always has been.

you squeeze him tight, although he probably barely feels it beneath all his muscles.

“i love you,” it’s muffled, your head still surrounded by his hoodie. “thank you, i’ll give you a fashion show when they get here.”

he threw his head back laughing. one of those laughs where you get wrinckles around your eyes and you can feel your stomach vibrate.

“good. i wouldn’t have it any other way. i love you too, my angel.”
