i was busy yesterday so i didn’t get to share my impressions for episode 15, so I’ll do it today since i have a lot of thoughts -
i really liked this one, the part where yuki comforted suzuha even made me cry, which even ep 8 wasn’t able to do. i’m just very weak when it comes to suzu tbh, she always makes me cry T.T
i’m pretty sure yuki somehow figured it out, which is a little questionable because HOW, but i still liked it, mother’s instinct i guess, i’ll let it pass
i also liked how this episode kinda mirrored the original’s episode 18, with okabe’s date with ruka and the theme of being yourself. that’s probably why they kept okabe with leskinen the whole time, because okabe would’ve stopped the whole ladies’ man hashida ridiculousness right away
there was also a lot of cringe this ep, but i expect nothing less from daru’s love life, so
one thing i didn’t really like though was yuki’s death scene, i feel like that could’ve been done better. i dunno it felt a bit clumsy? i think i remember that scene done better in some side material...

Something that makes me really sad in S;G that no one really talks about is Kurisu’s relationship with her father. I’ve read “Babel of Grieved Maze”, and it makes me wonder how can a man love his daughter so much and want her to succeed, to despising her and vowing to bring about her death in the span of one day? Sometimes I wonder if it’s mental illness, because as someone who values family above all else, I can’t fathom Nakabachi’s drastic change as anything other than something medical
Well, I can’t speak for Nakabachi’s behavior in the Beta worldline (since we hardly know anything about him), but at least in the Alpha worldline, it seems that he didn’t go from loving Kurisu to hating her in the span of one day. As revealed in ‘Babel,’ he did blow up in anger at Kurisu, but he regretted it afterwards. You’d think he could just apologize to her, but maybe he thought what he said was too horrible, so she would never forgive him.
So I think he devoted himself even more to his time machine research (so he could save his friends Yukitaka Akiha and Suzu Hashida and also “undo” what he said to Kurisu), and as he realized he could never build a time machine, his feelings gradually became more twisted, and he really started to hate Kurisu.
I wish we had gotten something about how Kurisu felt after Nakabachi tried to kill her in the SG worldline, though. It must have been a huge shock for her, but we never hear anything about it.

Steins;Gate name meanings
Okabe Rintaro 岡部倫太郎
Oka means hill. Be means 'section/part.'
Rin means 'ethics' or 'morals.' Taro customarily refers to the first (or only) son, and there are a lot of boys' names that end in it. (Though of course, nowadays even sons who aren't the firstborn can have 'taro' in their names.)
Hououin Kyouma 鳳凰院凶真
Houou means 'phoenix.' Technically the Asian phoenix, which is a different mythical creature than the one that is reborn from ashes. We don't know what 'in' is supposed to mean in this case (because Okabe never tells us--he just says it would take a long time to explain), but the kanji literally means 'institution,' for what it's worth.
Kyou means 'evil.' Ma means 'truth.'
Shiina Mayuri 椎名まゆり
Shii can refer to any tree in the Genus Castanopsis. Na means 'name.' Mayuri is written in hiragana instead of kanji, so I don't know the exact meaning, but my best guess would be 真百合 or 'true lily.'
By the way, Mayushii is a combination of 'Mayuri' and 'Shiina,' which I really should have figured out before I read it in one of the guidebooks.
Hashida Itaru 橋田至
Hashi means 'bridge.' Da means 'rice field.' Itaru comes from a verb meaning 'to reach; to arrive.'
Daru can be seen as coming from (i)taru, but darui is also an adjective meaning 'sluggish/languid.'
On a more meta level, 'Hashida Itaru' was chosen because the middle part sounds a bit like 'Titor.' ('daita')
Makise Kurisu 牧瀬紅莉栖
Maki means 'pasture.' Se means 'rapids' or 'shallows' (as of water).
I'm pretty sure 'Kurisu’ isn't a traditional Japanese name (it almost certainly came from 'Chris' or 'Kris'), so the meaning is secondary, really. Nevertheless, as Kurisu's name is written, the ku means 'crimson,' the ri means 'jasmine,' and the su means 'dwelling.'
Kiryu Moeka 桐生萌郁
'Kir' comes from 'kiri,' which means 'paulownia tree.' The 'ryu' means 'life.' 'Moe' means 'bud' or 'sprout.' 'Ka' means fragrant.
Urushibara Luka 漆原るか
Urushi means 'lacquer.' Bara means 'field.' Like 'mayuri', Luka is written in hiragana, so I'm not sure what it means, and in this case, I don't even really have a guess.
Faris Nyan-Nyan (Akiha Rumiho) フェイリス・ニャンニャン(秋葉留未穂)
'Faris' is obviously not a Japanese name, but according to 'Behind the Name,' it's a masculine name that means 'knight' in Arabic. Nyan means 'meow,' of course. Akiha means 'autumn leaf,' and forms the first part of 'Akihabara' (literally, 'autumn leaf field').
Ru means 'stop.' Mi means 'not yet.' Ho means 'ear (of grain, etc.).'
Amane Suzuha 阿万音鈴羽
'A' is a phonetic character, so it doesn't really have a meaning here. Man is 'ten thousand.' Ne is 'sound. A suzu is a type of bell. Ha means 'feather' or 'wing.'
